2024.05.21 21:37 chedstrom WiFi changes to avoid an issue creates new issue and we wonder how our species still exists

We won a proposal to upgrade switches and aps for a site. This would replace the really old devices, and bring all equipment using the same manufacturer and give better visibility to the network with remote tools. Simple job taking just a few hours.
Part of the scope was to disable the guest network in requested areas. The guest Wi-Fi does not have any WPA setting allowing guest to easily connect. [its their policy, against our better judgement]. But this did create some issues for the business laptops. Some laptops would connect to guest instead of the secure for business, and obviously create issues like printers not visible, etc. And users would open tickets, before noticing the incorrect Wi-Fi connections.
The update goes smoothly enough. We applied the changes requested, and wrap up the upgrade. A couple of days later a ticket comes in. The are complaining about very weak guest Wi-Fi signals in two areas of the building. They are having trouble connecting their personal mobile phones to the guest Wi-Fi as they don't want to connect them to the secure side. Yes, you guessed it, its the areas they requested no guest Wi-Fi signal. [slowly shaking my head]
Sent that back to the account manager to discuss since its not a technical issue.

I am looking to trade my tape delay for another one. The Roland Space Echo is in great shape. I found it in good condition and sent it to Matt D at EchoFix to get it overhauled and have the motor replaced. It's a beautiful unit.
Unfortunately, some stuff has come up in my life and I need to downsize.

Effects

-RE 101
-EHX H.O.G 2 with preset selector
-Meris Mercury7
-Diesel Mod Metal Zone
-JPTR fernweh dual delay
‐Dimebag CFH wah pedal (I got an Xotic as a steal, this should be passed on at a good rate too. Reverb starts at 145, so 80 sounds fair to me)

Synths

-Yamaha CS15 Fully Restored -JP8000, fully restored

Guitars

-EOB Strat Mint
-Nashville Telecaster, red paint and red tortoiseshell pick guard, hotrails in the bridge. Used it for leads when I played country
-Yamaha 12 string acoustic, plays great but I already have my dad's Sonata and don't need it.
If you feel like you have a trade in mind, feel free to chat me.

Looking for

Cobalt Synth
Tube Tape Echo/Echoplex
Drum machines geared towards jamming/improv
Ambient tools
Cash offers also welcome

2024.05.21 21:03 vickyjensen11 Shining a Light on Employee Side Jobs: How Businesses Can Deal with This Situation?

Three years after the COVID-19 pandemic, it's clear that work can sometimes be done without an office. Many people work from home or have chosen the hybrid methods of work. But along with this change comes a new issue: more people are taking on extra work outside their primary job.
What is Employee Moonlighting?
Moonlighting refers to having a second job or doing a side job along with a full-time job. However, it can benefit employees; it can pose challenges for employers.
This blog post will examine moonlighting, why people do it, and how it affects businesses. We will discuss its positives and negatives and advise companies on managing it using remote employee monitoring tools. The aim is to help businesses better understand moonlighting and effectively address it in their workplaces.
Reasons for Increasing Employee Moonlighting
Moonlighting, or having a side job, is becoming more common for a few critical reasons. These reasons are the main things pushing this trend and include:
Many people want extra cash to cover their bills as life gets pricier. Moonlighting helps them earn more and feel financially safer.
Moonlighting often means doing something you're good at or love that you don't do in your primary job. People might have hobbies or skills they want to explore outside of work.
Working from home makes having side gigs alongside your main job easier. Fitting other jobs around your main schedule is simpler when you can work from anywhere.
Many people have creative or business dreams they want to pursue outside of their regular jobs. Moonlighting lets them explore these passions without risking their primary income.
Side gigs often offer more flexibility in schedule and workload than regular jobs. This flexibility appeals to people who like having control over their time.
Several income sources can make you feel more secure in an uncertain economy. Moonlighting lets you earn from different places, not just one.
With more and more people dealing with student loans and other debts, having a side gig can help pay off loans faster and get out of debt sooner.
Some people use side jobs to learn new things or meet new people who can help them advance in their careers. Whether freelancing or taking on part-time work in a different field, moonlighting can be a smart career move.
For people who dream of starting their own business, having a side job allows them to test their ideas and see if they will grow without quitting their job. It's a way to measure interest and attract customers while still earning from their regular jobs.
While employee moonlighting offers various benefits, it also challenges employers, including potential conflicts of interest, productivity concerns, and compliance issues. However, remote employee management software can effectively manage these challenges.
Effective Strategies for Managing Moonlighting
Dealing with moonlighting in remote or hybrid work setups can take time and effort. Remote work tracking software like Talygen ensures employees remain focused and engaged in their primary roles. Here are some ways companies can handle it:
Make sure everyone knows the rules about moonlighting. Policies should say when it's okay and when it's not. For example, moonlighting might be allowed if it doesn't interfere with someone's main job.
Encourage people to talk to their bosses about their side jobs and help employers and leaders sort out any problems early on.
Regular check-ins can help managers identify employees struggling to manage their jobs.
Offer flexible schedules so people can balance their time better.
Encourage people to grow within their primary job, making them less likely to seek other work.
Help everyone understand the rules and why they matter, which can stop problems before they start.
Tools that track what people are doing can help spot any issues early on.
Give people support if they are finding it hard to manage their jobs. It could be counseling or flexible hours.
Show that it's okay to have a life outside of work, setting an excellent example for everyone.
Ensure everyone knows what's okay and what's not regarding side jobs, and keep things fair and honest for everyone.
Conclusion
Moonlighting is a growing trend in the workplace today, presenting both opportunities and challenges for companies. Integrating remote work tracking software with live webcam screenshots is crucial to address this phenomenon. This technology offers invaluable benefits, such as boosting productivity. However, organizations must adopt these tools to be better positioned to manage moonlighting effectively and foster a productive and harmonious work environment.

Hey everyone, I made a post earlier today talking about the possible utility of jack of all trades on Ezreal, and came up with an AP build that allows him to get 10 unique item stats by one and a half items + boots, which sounded promising. I've been thinking about it some more, and after going into practice tool to see ap Ezreals damage (or the lack thereof), decided to try to make it work on our standard Triforce build. So anyways, this is what I came up with.
I was worried about the lack of ability haste from not buying lucidity boots, but if we use Jack of all Trades + transcendence, we actually have a net positive of 5 ability haste! You could also use precision PTA as main rune tree, and use jack of all trades + magical footwear if you prefer having PTA. Again, let me know what you guys think, would love to see opinions!
PS: I am desperately trying to find some new tech for our favorite spellcaster, so if anyone's got any thoughts, I'd love to hear them. Thanks for reading :)

UniFi - Multi Site Monitoring via Wallboard (or similar)
Hi all,
Hoping for some advice. I work for a company that manages multiple UniFi sites, and we are wondering if there is a way to integrate via API or a tool that's already out there that would allow us to connect our UniFi Network Server and display things such as:
  • Total online/offline access points (all sites)
  • Total online/offline switches (all sites)
  • Alerting when a specific AP/switch loses connection
I've looked at options such as UniFi Poller (which appears horrendous to set up) but I know that LogicMonitor have an integration for this, but they won't give me a demo of just this specific integration.
Just wondering what the best options out there as email notifications directly from the controller can be in the thousands per day. We currently have 150+ UniFi sites to manage.
We would ideally be looking for some sort of wallboard similar to the below if possible.

2024.05.21 19:20 anotheraltaacount Chance Asian Male for Texas A&M and UC Berkeley

Intended Major: Data Science / Computer Science (changes depending on the school i'm applying to)
GPA: 3.81 UW, 4.92 W out of 6 (includes courses from middle school 😭 )
UC Gpa since I am applying to a lot of them: 3.90 UW, 4.57 W, 4.17 weighted and capped
Class Rank: Outside top 10% because of some high school courses I took during 7th and 8th grade. Got straight Bs and Cs unfortunately.
SAT: 1450 (750M 700 RW, didn't study at all, trying again in august after studying)
Race: Asian
Gender: Male
Background: middle-class immigrant family.
School: Competitive Public High School
State: Texas
19 APs total (12 taken so far) AP Human Geography- 4, AP World - 5, AP Physics 1- 5, failed Spanish Lang 💀, waiting on all others
Senior year course load - AP Stats, AP Physics C (Mech and E&M), AP Gov/Econ, AP Lit, Data Structures And Algorithms (course after AP CSA, gpa is weighted the same as AP), and Calc III / Differential Equations dual enrollment, APES.
Main Extracurriculars:
  1. Created an open-source flight board website/app for a Flight Simulator Multiplayer server that displays information on each flight including departure/arrival times and status. Displays busiest airports and flight routes, and predicts future routes and flight recommendations based on historical data such as ATC availability. Website has 400 users and receives approximately 4.5K visits daily, with a maximum of 1022 distinct users in April. I have also created my own API that gives relevant information such as time remaining and specific departure times that are not shown in the original API that I used to create the flight board.
  2. Interning at State School’s CS lab this summer and will research and create a final project about how businesses use the data they collect to make future decisions to increase profit. This aligns with my goal of becoming a data scientist and going into the machine learning field, so I thought this would be pretty important.
  3. Active addon creator for Microsoft Flight Simulator - Developed many addons such as aircraft liveries, realistically modeled airports, and the biggest one being a graphics mod to make the sim look more realistic. ~2500 downloads for all mods
  4. Computer Science Club: Competed in multiple competitive coding competitions such as UTD Battle of the Brains, A&M Codewars, Lockheed Martin Codequest, Computer Science UIL, and many other online ones such as Devpost and CyberPatriots (did this with my friends for fun, unfortunately didnt win anything). I have also demoed my personal projects in this club and have helped members with learning Python and HTML, since our school’s curriculum is only based on Java.
  5. Personal Computer Science Projects - Just a couple of projects that I made in the past few years that have helped me improve my understanding of coding. My school only offers Java, so these projects were incredibly helpful when it came to understanding R, Python, and JavaScript. My favorite project is a volunteer log tool that breaks down my total hours based on the number of hours that I have volunteered at my local food packing facility and how many boxes each table can pack. Using this information, I can derive how many boxes I have personally helped make and how many children I have fed through my contributions.
  6. Created a review guide for AP Physics 1 that compiled the most important formulas and concepts from our lessons and resources. I also compiled an entire mock exam’s worth of MCQ and FRQ questions to test the hardest questions from each unit. On exam day, there were 54 people on the doc, so there were at least 50 people I impacted with this. I have also recently started a tutoring service for people who are struggling with physics and people who are taking Physics in the future (doing it on Saturday and Sunday every week).
  7. Volunteering at a local food packing facility for ~105 hours. Volunteered at every position including pourer, bagger, weigher, and warehouse crew.
  8. Volunteering at NHS organized events for 15 hours.
  9. Completed Harvard’s CS50 course back in sophomore year (my website stated above evolved from my final project for CS50, which was a flight board on command prompt lol)
  10. Part of the National Science Honors Society and Cybersecurity club at my school.
Awards (I am cooked 😔):
  1. National Merit Commended (probably gonna get this)
  2. PVSA silver award
  3. Computer Science UIL awards
  4. AP Scholar (probably with distinciton in july)
LOR: AP Calc - 8 (maybe 9) /10, did really well in her class and asked a lot of questions. she was also impressed by my resume, but I didn't talk to her a lot personally. I've heard that she writes good rec letters tho. AP Physics - 7/10
Schools:
Reach : UT Austin (Statistics / Data Science), UMich (CS lsa), UC Berkeley (Applied Math, my dream school), UCLA (Stats/Data Science), Purdue (CS or AI major), UIUC (Computer Engineering or CS + Stats), UCSD (data science or Math-CS), UCI (CS), UCSB (CE), UW Madison (CS), Georgia Tech (CS, doing this one for fun lol), USC
Target: Texas A&M Engineering (attainable dream school), UT Dallas (CS), Colorado Boulder (CS), UMD College Park (CS), Penn State (CS), NCSU (CS)
Safety (if I get into UTD rolling then i wont apply here): UNT, Texas Tech, ASU
Notes: I want to settle in the bay area after going to college, and want to become a data scientist (seems more interesting to me than becoming a swe, my opinion might change) at a well-respected company, preferably in the aerospace industry since I've had an interest in aviation since my childhood. I might also do grad school.
Thoughts?

2024.05.21 19:18 darksydex3226 An idea to lean into Yone's "Assassin" role

Disclaimer: I don't claim to be an expert or that this build will be any good, or that there aren't better item options, etc. I'm sure others can come up with something more viable. I just thought it was fun to think of Yone in a different way due to recent changes.
Thanks for your time.
Electrocute Yone
According to his character profile on the LoL website, Yone is an Assassin. I was thinking of ways to lean into this role due to the recent changes.
This Yone isn't looking for 3v1s vs the beefy boys, but instead looking to use clever angles, vision, and his dash-heavy tools for successful roams, and wreaking havoc on the back line during intense team fights, similar to Zed. Goes without saying, but I'm thinking with mid lane in mind. Sadly this build is way more team dependent, as it requires them to engage and eat CD timers.
Let's talk about the Electrocute Keystone. It doesn't scale well, but as we know Yone does, so this rune might be the answer to make up for poor early game. It's easy to activate as Yone can confirm a 3 hit combo with little to no effort. Utilizing this might be what he needs to keep his enemy laner on their toes or god forbid snowball a lead.
For the 3 primary runes, I'm looking at Sudden Impact. Yone has a kit full of dashes and blinks, and bushes are a big part of the game plan too. I'm also looking at Taste of Blood, but unsure. Perhaps if your opponent is a beefier mid lane like Galio this might be worth a try, but for the sake of this concept, I'm sticking with SI, but I can't rule out ToB, I think both are worth exploring.
Eyeball collector is obvious.
The third row is also worth exploring, I think Bounty is nice to scale faster, but ultimate hunter seems like a go-to choice, and even relentless hunter might not be awful for roams, sidelaning, and positioning. For now we'll go with Ultimate, but I feel like all 3 could be an option depending on enemy comp and what you're trying to accomplish on a game to game basis.
For the second tree, I am looking at Legend: Alacrity and Coup De Grace. These are consistent choices you'd run with a Yellow Keystone, might as well have them.
For tiny runes, Attack Speed, Adaptive Force, and matchup dependent for the third row, with perhaps the base health being a go-to choice for healthier trading and farming early, but with so much CC in the game, and it being our worst enemy, I think it's tenacity in most cases.
For the first item, I'm not going to break the mold. I think Zerker Greaves are still the prime choice. We need AD in our next item, so a recurve bow item is probably the best bet, sadly. I was looking at Bork, but there's also Kraken Slayer. This can add more burst damage, so I think this is it, but Bork also makes a great case with sustain and a slow effect for combo confirms. I'm on the fence about which one to take, but definitely one of the two. At least there's some build variance, perhaps KS into favorable and Bork otherwise. I can't recommend Wits End due to lack of AD, but that tenacity sure does look nice.
Now we desperately need crit, and a way to E back to our body before being killed, so I'm looking at the Shieldbow. I think, if you are ahead (by some miracle) an IE is the pick, but let's assume this is real life and you're not ahead. Playing around your Shieldbow CD will be crucial, and I wouldn't engage skirmishes/team fights without it unless circumstances are favorable (big CDs down, squishy on opposite side of the map of entire team and pushed past river, etc).
Item 4 is IE for sicko mode burst and you'll be able to assist your team in fighting frontliners after getting squishy kills... if you don't need to run off bloody and beaten. I think times like that'll be few and far between, but with this item you should be able to easily dispatch the backline and run away with a good team engage followed by your jump scare ambush.
For a 5th item, I think the Bloodthirster looks solid. It adds a lot of AD, well needed sustain (especially if you're Borkless), and it's another shield on top of your other shields. However, and hear me out... if you are having trouble recalling E due to CC, take a look at the Mercurial Scimitar. It comes with AD, Lifesteal, MR, and a unique active that ensures you can recast E. I'd say it's a good "training wheels" item if you aren't great at focusing on enemy CDs and dodging abilities.
The final item, the variable slot! I'm not sure how viable GA is because when you're jumping the backline all the Frontline has to do is back pedal from the teamfight and take you out after coming out of stasis, with that being said, if you went BT, Merc Scimitar might be good, and vice versa. I'm also thinking a Collector might not be bad for easier secures, but probably overkill. If the team has heavy healing there's the Mortals Reminder, which comes with a lot of components we like anyway. Lord doms for heavy armor, or a Spirit Visage for heavy AP as well as complementing your lifesteal and shields. If you need armor I think Death Dance makes a case with AD as well as a useful passive that can get you out of a sticky on takedowns. I haven't thought this part out too hard if I'm being honest, I feel like there's a lot of good cases to be made for the variable slot, and I'm not great when it comes to itemizing and synergies.
Clearing vision is paramount for successful ambushes, so be sure to have a pink ward and scanner handy in most scenarios.
Thanks for your time, and let me know if you gave it a try. I play on the phone exclusively now, and thankfully we still have LT, but I'm considering trying this build concept for fun in norms....
And to be prepared for when the inevitable day of reckoning comes.

2024.05.21 19:14 Better-Commission709 Bi Weekly Pay-periods vs Paycheck Dates

Hello,
I am trying to put together formulas in a projections tool that returns values for bi weekly payroll based on whether the pay period end date (Sunday) is in the same month as the paycheck date (the following Friday). The pay period end date is when the figure reduces the profits. The paycheck date is when the figure needs to reduce cash flow for that month.
If the Sunday (pay period end dates) - which is every other sunday- is in the same month as the friday (paycheck date), then the amount of wages being calculated would be the same.
If there is a sunday that is in the month but the friday is in the next month, then that payroll amount needs to be adjusted and subtracted out of the cash figure.
If there is a friday that is in the month but the previous sunday was not in the same month, then that payroll amount needs to adjusted and added back to the cash figure.
The first Sunday is 12/31/23, The first friday is 1/5/24. The pay periods continue every other week, bi weekly.
I have cells A1 - A12 for each monthly amount of wages based on the number of Sundays (pay-period end) in the month. I need to translate those into cells for the cash amount for each month Jan - Dec based on whether the Friday of the bank debit is in the same month as the Sunday.
Any and all help is appreciated!

Description: Bought this brand new recently to check it out, have done nothing more than flick it open about 10 times. Could still use some time to break in, but I am enjoying the action already. Really like this one, and will probably get another in the future. Blade is centered with no blemishes. No blemishes on scales. Table was $350 or so, I believe. Comes with SBD box.

2024.05.21 17:33 dsadams52 Is AS Yet Another Example of Curve Fitting?

I have been an annual subscriber to AS since April 2018. I have a lot of respect for the integrity and expertise of the individuals who run the service. That said, I am concerned that it is another exercise in curve fitting. AS has great back testing capabilities but there is very little real time performance history, and the proof is in real time performance.
I am now retired and have spent many decades trying to beat the market. I started with charting services in the in the 70s, was an early adopter of trade station developing my own models, and have paid for many trading services. I have day traded, swing traded, traded options and commodities, individual stocks and etfs, and for the past five years have used AS. I have always been adverse to buy and hold, BUT I would be much better off today If I had maintained a 60/40 portfolio during my wealth building and retirement years.
Here are my actual AS results from my primary taxable account vs benchmark:
Year Actual 60/40 2019 11.1% 21.8% 2020 18.7 16.0 2021 5.0 15.1 2022 -7.4 -16.7 2023 7.4 16.8 YTD 0.7 6.0 Ave 5 yrs 7.0 10.6
I started with a 3 strategy model with GPM as primary strategy and later moved to 5 strategy models with several “upgrades” as new strategies became available. Latest model has HAA-Bal and BAA-Agg as primaries. I put upgrades in parens as they are more robust on a back tested basis. My 2 primaries have been subject to wipsaws this year and both in negative territory, which gets me back to the curve fitting concern.
In my experience, back tested models don’t do as well going forward and often blow up. There is also an incentive to continue curve fitting as new strategies are introduced. Additionally, the portfolio optimizer is a useful tool but a form of curve fitting which can give a false sense of security regarding Max DD etc. I have heard over the years you should plan for 2X your back tested Max DD on any model.
Now that cash has a meaningful yield, I am looking at making reductions to my risk profile and perhaps a significant allocation to an efficient buy and hold portfolio tailored to my situation. Lately, I have been looking at updated arguments for not trying to beat the market. Two good authorss are Larry Swedroe and William Bernstein.
To conclude, I plan to continue using AS but am hoping to get others’ feedback and have a conversation on the difficulty of outperforming the market on a risk adjusted basis.
I should also add to their credit the AS blog and strategy reviews don’t ignore curve fitting concerns and also recommend an allocation to buy and hold, but we tend to forget these things.

2024.05.21 17:24 MightBeneficial3302 The Benefits of Investing in Gold: Why It’s a Good Decision

The Benefits of Investing in Gold: Why It’s a Good Decision
In the vast universe of investment opportunities, gold stands out not just for its glitter but for its enduring value and historical significance. The allure of gold has not diminished over the centuries; instead, it has woven itself into the fabric of financial stability and wealth preservation. Herein, we delve into why investing in gold is not only a prudent decision but one that could safeguard your financial future in ways that other assets cannot.
Why Investing in Gold is a Good Decision
The decision to include gold in one’s investment portfolio is driven by several compelling factors. First and foremost, gold is universally recognized for its intrinsic value. Unlike paper currency, whose value can be eroded by inflation or government policies, gold’s worth is not tied to the performance of a particular economy. This unique characteristic makes it a sought-after asset for those looking to preserve their wealth over time.
Moreover, the resilience of gold becomes particularly evident during periods of market volatility. When stocks and bonds are buffeted by the storms of financial markets, gold often remains a beacon of stability. Its price movements are not directly correlated with those of other assets, making it an excellent tool for diversification. This uncorrelated behavior is a testament to gold’s standing as a safe haven in times of economic uncertainty.
Lastly, the liquidity of gold is another factor that contributes to its attractiveness as an investment. Gold can be easily bought or sold in various forms, from physical bars and coins to gold-backed exchange-traded funds (ETFs). This ease of transaction ensures that investors can quickly adjust their positions in response to changing economic conditions, enhancing gold’s appeal as a versatile asset.

Historical Performance of Gold as an Investment
The historical performance of gold is a testament to its enduring value and appeal as an investment. Over the centuries, gold has not only preserved wealth but, in many instances, has significantly appreciated in value. This long-term appreciation is particularly notable when compared to other assets that may depreciate due to technological advancements or changes in consumer preferences.
During periods of high inflation, gold has historically outperformed other investments. Its value tends to rise when the purchasing power of fiat currencies declines, thereby providing a hedge against inflation. This characteristic was notably evident during the 1970s, a decade marked by high inflation, during which gold prices surged.
Furthermore, gold’s performance during economic downturns has reinforced its reputation as a safe haven. In the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis, for example, investors flocked to gold, driving up its price. This flight to safety highlighted gold’s role as a stabilizing force amidst economic turmoil.
Hedge Against Inflation and Economic Downturns
One of the most compelling reasons to invest in gold is its ability to act as a hedge against inflation and economic downturns. Inflation erodes the purchasing power of money, diminishing the real value of cash holdings and fixed-income investments such as bonds. Gold, however, maintains its purchasing power over the long term. As the cost of goods and services increases, so does the price of gold, thereby preserving the value of investors’ holdings.
In addition to its inflation-hedging properties, gold offers protection during economic downturns. During such times, investors often lose confidence in traditional assets like stocks and bonds. The uncertainty that pervades financial markets during recessions drives investors toward safer assets, and gold is frequently the beneficiary of this shift in sentiment. Its ability to maintain value when other assets are declining is a crucial reason why gold is considered a cornerstone of a well-diversified portfolio.

Diversification in Your Investment Portfolio
Diversification is a fundamental principle of investing aimed at reducing risk. By spreading investments across different asset classes, investors can mitigate the impact of a poor performance by any single asset. Gold plays a vital role in this diversification strategy due to its low correlation with other financial assets.
Including gold in a portfolio can reduce volatility and improve returns over the long term. Studies have shown that portfolios containing a mix of stocks, bonds, and gold have outperformed those without gold, particularly during times of market stress. This diversification benefit is a key reason why financial advisors often recommend allocating a portion of an investment portfolio to gold.
Tangible Value and Stability of Gold
Gold’s tangible nature is another factor that contributes to its appeal as an investment. Unlike digital assets or paper money, gold is a physical substance that has been valued by human societies for millennia. This tangible value provides a sense of security and permanence that is unmatched by many other investments.
The stability of gold is also reflected in its supply. Gold cannot be produced at the same pace as paper money or digital currencies, which central banks can create at will. The limited supply of gold, combined with its enduring demand, underpins its value and makes it a stable investment over the long term.
Protection Against Currency Devaluation
Currency devaluation is a risk that affects all investors, regardless of the currency in which they hold their assets. When a currency loses value, it takes more units of that currency to purchase the same amount of goods or services. Gold offers protection against this risk because it is priced in currency terms. As the value of a currency declines, the price of gold in that currency tends to rise, preserving the purchasing power of investors’ holdings.
This protection is especially valuable in countries with volatile currencies or those prone to inflationary pressures. For investors in such environments, gold can serve as a safe haven, protecting against the adverse effects of currency devaluation.
Tax Advantages of Investing in Gold
Investing in gold can offer certain tax advantages, depending on the jurisdiction and the form of gold investment. For example, some countries do not levy capital gains tax on gold investments, or they may offer favorable tax treatment compared to other assets. These tax benefits can enhance the overall return on gold investments, making it an even more attractive option for investors.
It’s important for investors to consult with a tax advisor to understand the specific tax implications of investing in gold in their country. Taking advantage of these tax benefits can maximize the returns from gold investments and contribute to a more efficient investment strat

Different Ways to Invest in Gold
There are several ways to invest in gold, each with its own set of advantages and considerations. Physical gold, in the form of bars or coins, is a popular option for its tangible value and direct ownership. However, it requires secure storage and insurance, which can incur additional costs.
Gold ETFs and mutual funds offer a more convenient way to invest in gold without the need for physical storage. These financial instruments are traded on stock exchanges and are backed by physical gold or gold futures contracts. They provide liquidity and ease of trading but may come with management fees.
Gold mining stocks and mutual funds are another avenue for gold investment. These options involve investing in companies that mine gold, offering potential for dividends and capital appreciation. However, they also carry risks related to the performance of individual companies and the mining sector as a whole.
Risks and Considerations of Investing in Gold
While gold offers many benefits as an investment, there are also risks and considerations that investors should be aware of. The price of gold can be volatile in the short term, driven by factors such as currency fluctuations, interest rates, and geopolitical events. This volatility requires a long-term perspective and a tolerance for price fluctuations.
Additionally, investing in physical gold involves costs for storage and insurance, which can erode returns. Investors should carefully consider these costs and weigh them against the benefits of holding physical gold.
Finally, it’s important to recognize that gold does not produce income, such as dividends or interest, which some investors may seek from their investments. This lack of income should be considered in the context of an overall investment strategy and financial goals.
Conclusion: Is Investing in Gold Right for You?
Investing in gold offers a range of benefits, including diversification, protection against inflation and currency devaluation, and stability in times of economic uncertainty. However, like any investment, it also comes with risks and considerations that must be carefully evaluated.
For those seeking to preserve wealth and reduce risk in their investment portfolio, gold can be an excellent choice. Its historical performance, tangible value, and role as a hedge against economic downturns make it a compelling option for many investors.
Ultimately, whether investing in gold is right for you depends on your financial goals, risk tolerance, and investment strategy. By carefully considering these factors, you can make an informed decision about including gold in your investment portfolio.

Financial Results for the first quarter of 2024:
Revenues amounted to $8.4 million (Q1.2023: $5.7 million). The increase is attributed to the organic growth in the enterprise internet access and web data collection business revenues, despite a reduction in the consumer internet access business revenues.
Cost of revenues totaled $1.8 million (Q1.2023: $1.9 million). The reduction stems mainly from the Company’s CyberKick division’s traffic acquisition costs stoppage in July 2023 and clearing fees decrease, due to the Company’s updated scale down strategy for its CyberKick operations. The reduction was partially offset by an increase in enterprise internet access and web data collection business costs of addresses and networks and servers used for the generation of the additional enterprise internet access and web data collection business revenues.
Research and development expenses totaled $1.0 million (Q1.2023: $1.1 million). Reduced expenses in the consumer internet access business due to the operations scale down of CyberKick were partially offset by an increase in payroll and related expenses in the enterprise internet access and web data collection business.
Sales and marketing expenses totaled $1.7 million (Q1.2023: $2.2 million). The decrease resulted mainly from the stoppage of media acquisition costs in July 2023 due to CyberKick’s operations scale down strategy. This reduction was partially offset by higher payroll and related expenses in the enterprise internet access and web data collection business.
General and administrative expenses totaled $1.2 million (Q1.2023: $1.0 million). The increase is mainly due to higher payroll and related expenses and professional fees costs related to the enterprise internet access and web data collection business, partially offset by lower payroll and related expenses as a result of CyberKick’s operations scale down strategy.
Finance expenses reached $0.8 million (Q1.2023: $0.2 million). The increase is mainly from expenses resulting from the fair value increase of derivative financial instruments (warrants issued in 2019-2020) due to the increase in the Company’s share price. The increase was partially offset by interest income that stemmed from the Company’s increased cash equivalents.
Income tax expenses totaled $0.3 million (Q1.2023: tax benefit of $0.004 million). The switch to income tax expenses is due to the first-time profitably of NetNut for tax purposes.
As a result, IFRS net profit reached $1.4 million, or $0.02 basic profit per ordinary share ($0.23 basic profit per American Depository Share – “ADS”), compared to IFRS net loss of $0.7 million in the first quarter of 2023, or $0.02 basic loss per ordinary share ($0.21 basic loss per ADS).
Non-IFRS net profit was $2.8 million, or $0.04 basic profit per ordinary share ($0.45 basic profit per ADS), compared to non-IFRS net loss of $0.1 million in the first quarter of 2023, or $0.00 basic loss per ordinary share ($0.03 basic loss per ADS).
Adjusted EBITDA was $3.2 million (Q1.2023: Adjusted EBITDA of $0.1 million).
Balance Sheet Highlights:
As of March 31, 2024, shareholders’ equity totaled $17.1 million, or approximately $2.66 per ADS, compared to shareholders’ equity of $13.2 million as of December 31, 2023. The increase stems from the 2024 first quarter net profit as well as warrants and options exercises.
Outstanding ordinary share count as of March 31, 2024 was 64.1 million, or 6.4 million in ADSs.
As of March 31, 2024, the Company’s cash and cash equivalents balance totaled $15.1 million, compared to $10.9 million as of December 31, 2023.
