2017.09.13 20:18 Vindyne8 Spectre.ai - The world's first broker-less financial trading platform

World's first broker-less financial trading platform A major disruption of financial trading: SPECTRE is the world's first broker-less trading platform that removes the broker out of the equation and returns the power back to retail traders across the globe. Built on the Ethereum blockchain, SPECTRE's liquidity pool is entirely owned by the ICO token investors. Profits are paid out to token holders instantly resulting in revolutionary change to the trading world and new levels of transparency.

2024.05.15 07:33 Pax62375 On the Design of Human Ships: Retribution

Prev/On the Design of Human Ships/
"Just wait, how lon…" Zantol started to say as a firm click was heard as Pir-4 pressed the button. In the following moment the entire ship shuddered as all power was lost. Moments later a deep drone could be felt.
"That shouldn't have taken so long to start," Dave remarked as all the screens and consoles lit back up, as the drone to fade away. Looking around dozens of new indicator lights and alarms were screaming across the cockpit, "Well that might be it, uhh…" Dave looked to Zanthol who was shocked at what just happened, and Pir-4 now floating stilly above the radio consul, "Zanthol please tell me that this is normal and that Pir is alright"
Zanthol taking moments to understand what happened, what all the new lights are for, and moments wonder what just happened.
“Wha…, what was that."
"Well, uh, that, was the distress call," Pausing for a moment to point at Pir-4 and to mute the alarms, "will he be ok?"
"Probably, but it is impossible to know without looking in his head"
"Why aren't you concerned? I mean, he could have just died."
"Why would I, it's just a machine, and all the data can be recovered."
Taking a deep breath, Dave considered the words that he just heard, "Zanthol? How do you classify a being as sentient?"
"We have a system, how do you classify things as sentient? If I know what you would use, then it would be easier for me to explain."
"I don't necessarily see why this is important, but the way that we had done this is though test, like the Turing test, have a judge have a conversation with a known sentient being and the one being tested. Another is to test the being's creativity, or even just comparing how close to the human brain the being's brain is."
"Those are all good way to determine if a being is sentient, but the reason that Pir was created was to get one step closer to win a galactic history changing prize, and I shouldn't tell you this, but humanity will find out regardless. This prize is from an automated system from nearly a million years ago, it was to autonomously scout and lightly terraform planets for life as it knows, and through, probably a problem with the replication program, it became sapient and though many more years it came to where it is now. Just barely sentient, enough for it to want to be a part of the community, and so the machine tried, until it came to the conclusion that it wasn't sentient enough to fit in," Sighing Zanthol took a deep breath and pointed to Pir-4, "It stopped sharing the planets it has visited, demanding that we make it fully sentient, to the point of the average sentient being, like you and me. To do so it made a prize, bring it a artificial being of synthetic mind that it deems as sentient. it has been almost 43,323 years by your calendar since the start of the competition."
"So you don't consider Pir a sentient being because a machine doesn't. That doesn't make sense, just because it doesn't shouldn't mean that you don't. Humanity has had less time free to think of what makes you, you. Because I think and therefore I am, should suffice for treating other being as sentient…"
Dave was cut off by the radio cracking back to life, "YOU, we do░▓░k▒w what yo░▒id bu░ we will have your he▒▓!" Just as abruptly it started it cut back out.
"They sound mad, as much as I would like to continue to argue, there are more concerning matters at the moment," Dave said as he took hold of the control sticks, with a lurch the ship once again started to move, "Since I don't like the silence I'll explain some things to you, this left stick moves the ship in x,y,z movement, or front, back, up, down, left, and right. The right stick adjusts the rotation," Dave gives both of the sticks a wiggle, causing the whole ship to shudder.
Zanthol, pulled Pir-4's helmet off, he started to check what happened to Pir-4. Looking to Dave again he sees him reach out slips on large gloves over his atmo-suit's gloves, once these are properly around his already gloved hands they constrict around them to now sit tightly around his hands. Then with a simple his the compartment filled with a thin fog, curiously Zanthol asked, "Is something wrong, and what's with the fog?"
"Take a look out the view screen, were getting close to your ship, but its getting hard to tell the distance without looking at the readout. So to get around that this ship uses a suite of holograms that are constructed by little low power lasers, and theses holograms use the cameras and computers to make a three dimensional representation of the environment."
"So why the haze?"
"It's so the lasers can be seen." as Dave talked, holograms of Zanthol's ship the Prospector's Pick, Helum station, and the various pirate vessels, leaving all that can't be seen by the cameras are blank. Reaching out with his gloved hands Dave grabbed the holograms of the Prospector's Pick and Zanthol's ship, strangely his hands didn't just pass through the holograms. Already anticipating the coming question Dave said, "The gloves that I just put on have a pneumatic force feed back system, strong enough to resist my movements, but not so much it can hurt me. If I move my hand though any of them it will respond as if it were an object floating in space that I just smacked. The system will interpret how the I move the holograms and do its best to replicate it in real life," Dave said, as he pushed the Prospector's Pick closer to Zanthol's ship. Zanthol could feel the ship accelerate toward his ship, "So, this makes it more intuitive for a human to operate this ship."
"Ok, so what are you doing now, are you going to get us out of here?"
"Well you said that, one all of Pir's spare parts are on your ship and that you have very classified things on it. Wouldn't it be a good idea to get it all before running?"
*Beep*
Looking at the consul a gauge was flashing.
"What's that?"
"That would be a temperate gauge, and uh it says that the hull is heating up. That shouldn't be happening,"
Thinking back Zanthol remembered how the pirates breached the air-lock realized what was causing the heating, "Dave, I think it maybe the pirates, to cut open the station like that," he points at the air-lock, "to cut through it as quickly as they did, they would have to have a weapons grade laser. We probably have only a minute before it starts cutting through the hull if you can keep them from focusing on the same spot."
"Ok, that shouldn't be too hard to mitigate," with a simple twist of the wrist Dave put the ship into a gentle spin, "That should do for now. Where is a good spot for a tow cable to be put on your ship?"
"I can already feel the rising temperature rising, and it's only getting faster. If you can't do anything about it then we're probably dead."
The gauge, now entering the red, "I hear you, and I'll handle this," Dave replied turning his ship to face the pirates, "Do you know why Tungsten Carbide is such a good marital for machine tools?"
Starting to send the ship into the pirates, "It's because it harder then almost all other mettles, and do you know where the largest single piece of Tungsten Carbide is? Well, its on this ship, initially meant to skewer asteroids, but we'll see how good it is at skewering ships, and it better be, or else," sighing, Dave continued, "We're probably dead."
"That sounds insane, but probably the only thing that we can do, and even then, there are still three other in the fleet."
Suddenly, static filed the coms gradually coming clearer until a human voice could be heard, "Prospector's Pick, hold tight, help is on the way, this is the Barnard's star Battle group B3, ETA 3 minutes. just hold tight, help is on the way."
By this moment Dave's ship was careening toward the pirates, the temperature sky rocketing. The ship struggling to cool it self with the radiators turning a dull red with the heat their absorbing, struggling to dissipate the building heat.
With a, shearing, screeching, screaming, sound the spike tore into the pirate ship.
"Woooooooooooooowoh!! HELL YEAH! That will never get old no mater what the target is." Dave said with a brimming smile. "Now its getting hot in here, so I'll also show you how we cool our ships in emergencies." pressing a combination of buttons on the the consul, a hiss of cool air filled the cockpit. The hologram also showed the radiators unlatch and start floating away from the ship.
"Dave why are you jettisoning the radiators, they're needed to cool the ship."
"Yes, but that's part of the design that someone else made, and was much smarter then I am. Its going to be replaced with spares."
One of the rows of boxes moved to the place that the radiators once were, and proceeded to unfold and turn into new radiators, with this the temperature gauge visibly and quickly dropped back down to it's regular position, and the new radiators already starting to show their thermal saturation. Then the screens flashed a notification…
Incoming warp detected.
~
This started to become more disconnected and scattered toward the end, but I was just having a hard time finding a way to connect it all. I also wanted to make each chapter a bit longer, so that's why this took so long, and in all fairness I don't think I'll be writing them to be so long its just not what I'm good with.
It has almost been half a year since I randomly thought of the idea for this at a new years party, anyways here's a fun fact, I am horrible at coming up with names, so to mitigate this I have turned to use the Periotic table and names of chemicals (and/or overly common names). The most obvious of them are Dave's last name Coper most clearly a slight mis spelling of Copper, Helum Station is just a variation of Helium, (spoiler regarding Pir-4)and Pir is a mis spelled abbreviation of Periotic and 4 corresponds to Beryllium the main component in his computers and meant to reference how hard for the researchers to make a body compatible with a inorganic brain, and to my knowledge Beryllium is wildly deadly and destructive to carbon based organic chemistry.

2024.05.13 03:11 kyleoz13 Collection renovation!

Collection renovation!
After stepping up my 4k Blu Ray game earlier this year I decided to make my whole collection look a bit more visually pleasing. I got the Summit media shelving on Amazon along with the matching bookends. Also swapped out all the blu ray blue cases for clear cases I sourced to give the whole collection a more "boutique" aesthetic to it. I'm really happy with the results!!

2024.05.08 02:24 Advanced_Release3911 A friend was playing their Traptrix Ragnaraika deck on Yugioh Omega and something happened with Holeutea

basically, after going through some route to find Holeutea they had set the card and went to activate it but it didn't make them pitch the normal trap. Is there any reason this would happen?

2024.05.03 05:15 ContentType8392 Breeders in CO + Recommendations for Beginners?

Hey, so I'm new to hedgehogs and I'd like to get one as a pet. I currently live in Colorado, where temperatures range widely and change quickly. I'm planning to keep the hedgehog in my basement(finished, livable space), where the temperatures should mostly remain cool during both the winter and summer. A few questions:
1. Would a home spatial heater be enough for the hedgehog, or do I need to buy CHE's?(If so, please provide links!)
I have a home spatial heater that works pretty well. However, I've never measured the temp, so I wouldn't be able to tell you any specifics.
2. Below are the things I'm planning to purchase. Would these be sufficient, or are there unnecessary things?(Would you recommend a different brand? Again, please provide links, and thanks!)
Cage, Bedding: Anti-pill fleece, Litter, CHE(if necessary), Lamp, Snuggle Sack, Hidey Hole, Wheel, Tube, Foraging Mat
3. Are there any tips you have for hygiene or tools I might need?
Nail clippers, yay or nay to dust baths, certain brands I should use for shampoo, etc.
4. Does anyone know any reputable breeders in Colorado or those that ship overseas?(Perhaps a recounting of your experience with them?)
I'm having a hard time finding any, so please let me know!
5. And finally: general tips, anyone? Just things you picked up or something that I'd need to know?

CIA AGENT TELLS ALL AND DISAPPEARS INTO THIN AIR. { HIS WORDS AND EVIDENCE BELOW}
I have a CIA MKUltra remote viewing that I smuggled out of the program --- I have hidden the remote viewing and videos of my rediscovery of my identity very carefully in the YouTube database of videos more than a decade ago. The information in my archived video predates the public's limited exposure to the Gateway Program by over a decade and discusses in detail what cutting-edge quantum mechanics practitioners are only now declaring to be true, and much more that is beyond that, also disclosed in time-stamped video and hidden among YouTube data, which I will present in this correspondence. I will start at the beginning. MK ULTRA has been running since the late '50s. Dolores Cannon led a CIA team that used remote viewing to find children such as myself (indigos) under the cover of what she dubbed 'indigo children' for MK ULTRA's Gateway Program. I performed over 140 remote viewing sessions using the QHHT method that Dolores Cannon pioneered. My program ID was FILE NAME 'URIEL,' after the mythological Archangel Uriel, who was said to have the keenest vision of all the angelic beings. The following is the only remote viewing I managed to smuggle out, remote viewing session #113, [https://youtu.be/jqv8TJT0Nbs]. It was conducted using the QHHT method by the interviewer for Dolores Cannon's CIA research team. After Dolores Cannon's death, the program continued and still continues. This particular viewing speaks of the ongoing Orion wars and is descriptive of the conflict and home world description of one of the affected planets in the G J 2279 star solar system, my max range of viewing. The so far undetected planet will be discovered on March 18th, 2028, when its eccentric orbit will bring it to pass in front of a star (Giclas 99-49), and it will be detectable by every observatory on Earth. GJ 3379 (Giclas 99-49) is the nearest star in the Orion constellation, being around 17.5 light-years away from the Sun. The main sequence star is a red dwarf with the spectral class M3.5V. It has an apparent magnitude of 11.33 and an absolute magnitude of 12.68. The star is therefore not visible with the naked eye. It is located in the upper left part of the Orion constellation, below Betelgeuse. Its radial velocity is +30.0 kilometers per second. According to the SIMBAD database, the star is classified as a flare star. In the past, this star may have had a close encounter with the Solar System. Some 163,000 ± 3,000 years ago, it achieved a minimum distance of 4.30 ± 0.10 ly (1.32 ± 0.03 pc). I was discovered by Dolores Cannon at 12 years of age. I was born in 1968 at 4:44 pm. This date and time will be of importance later, as you will see. I was removed from my home and school at that time, my parents were informed that I had drowned in Conneaut, PA in Lake Erie, after being struck by a stone skipped upon the water by another child. My body was said to have been recovered 17 days later from Lake Erie, with the claim that the undertow took my unconscious body out from shore, for the excuse of my body being too bloated and disfigured by so long in the water, my parents believed I had died and because the state of my supposed body, I was given a closed casket funeral in 1980. I had grown up inside the program's confines, housed in a section of a secret bunker constructed beginning in 1958 and finished in 1961 called "Project Greek Island," from May 4th on my 12th birthday in the year 1980. I was moved to Los Alamos research center to be housed with the other indigos like me at age 24 in 1992, when the underground hidden complex was discovered by investigative journalists from The Washington Post. They covered the existence of the complex under the false story that it was a bunker to house members of Congress in case of a nuclear attack. I can prove I was there because I carved the words "Uriel was here, with the date I arrived there, May 4th, 1980" into the cinder block in the second bathroom stall before the main dormitory after being assigned the chore of painting the lavatory, then painted over it in many coats of dark green paint until it was no longer visible. It is still there today and since the discovery of the bunker and publicly disclosed on May 31, 1992, by journalist Ted Gup. The actual purpose had nothing to do with Congress nor nuclear war; it was to protect the indigos from counter remote viewing by the Soviet Union. As it was falsely believed that remote viewing could not penetrate the Faraday cage mesh that enveloped the deep underground complex, after its public discovery, it has remained exactly as it was, thus my message is still carved deeply into the cinder block, simply removing the paint with a rag and turpentine will reveal it still intact. I was wiped, or so they thought, in 2011. False memories were implanted to make me believe I was a soldier named Jonathan Edward Miller, given VA disability at a rating of 100 percent for psychosis. The name's spelling is of importance, as I will explain later. The truth of remote viewing is that one does not see in the mind's eye places in this 3D dimension, rather it is viewing different dimensions that coincide with the one each person believes as the only one. Physicality is itself a falsehood, as I will explain in detail with more of the video footage I have Hidden in YouTube's data, this is the quantum mechanics just discovered truth, proven this year, dated more than a decade ago, understanding the universe's shape and form https://youtu.be/9gefrzmwyys. Life is not what it appears, not even remotely close to the reality that is existence. In actuality, it is this: https://youtu.be/_JEdMvYr9NU. This information will be discovered in the next 10 to 20 years. As I have stated, I was wiped; however, due to multiple timelines, they could not simply kill me, though they tried repeatedly. In one timeline, for instance, a SWAT team entered my home and killed me, but death itself is an illusion; there is no such thing as death, only the collective belief that people live and die. They never fully understood how we managed to manipulate the dimensional spacetime that is reality, why they were in error about Faraday cages and deep bunkers protecting or shielding MK Ultra's gateway mission. They at the time, and for the most part until this year, believed reality was 3-dimensional, but in fact, it is 12-dimensional. end part 1.
Part 2. In each timeline, as I died/survived, I lived completely different lives. Only through many years of piecing together the fragments of my wiped mind have I realized the entire truth and their inability to stop me from now telling it. In the following videos, I want you to not only absorb the information presented but also take note of the differences in the person in the video. Part 4 {{ Conclusion.}} After the successful assassination on May 2nd, 2023, I was given a choice by what some would call God to ascend to what most would consider Heaven or continue to try to jump again and remain on 3D Earth. Apr 17, 2008 , {MY CHOICE} https://youtu.be/Mf4_KnVqeJ4 My final jump after 4 years, 4 months, and 4 days in a wheelchair. Born on 5/4/1968 at 4:44 PM. This past year, at 4:44 PM on 5/4/2023, I had completed living 54 years of life. At that moment, the sun turned blue for approximately 4 minutes and 44 seconds. I caught this moment in a photo. The following day, 5/5/2023, marked the first day of my 55th year. At 5:55 PM, a solar eclipse began. Since then, I have not needed a wheelchair and have been able to walk, albeit with a limp. In the realm of numerology, these occurrences hold profound significance. The repetition of numbers, such as 4:44 and 5:55, is often seen as a sign of alignment and synchronicity. These patterns are believed to offer a connection to the universe's energies, providing insight and guidance. In my journey, these repeated numbers at significant life moments seem to echo a deeper universal harmony. The Lakota Indian culture, with its rich spiritual traditions, offers a unique perspective on these natural phenomena. The Lakota people have a profound connection with Unči Maka, or Mother Earth (Gaia), and Wi, the Sun. They see these entities not just as physical bodies, but as sacred, living beings that offer guidance and wisdom. The sun, especially, is revered as a source of life and energy. Its unusual behavior, like turning blue, could be interpreted as a powerful message or a sign from the natural world. The Lakota's deep respect for nature and their belief in the interconnectedness of all life forms align with the principles of numerology, where numbers and natural occurrences intertwine to guide and inform our lives. The alignment of these significant dates and times in my life with the Lakota beliefs reinforces a sense of being in harmony with the natural world and the greater cosmos. {{{ blue sun birthday https://youtu.be/ge0xiUaKSVE }}} Side note – the banged-up version of me was pretty much my norm, every day for 4 years I tried to stand and walk, and every day I fell sometimes causing significant battery upon my body, but I never gave up. Title: "Embracing Oneness with Gaia: A Journey Through Sun, Sweat, and Spirit" Beloved Children of the Earth, Today, we gather under the embrace of Tunkasila, the Grandfather Sky, and Unči Maka, our Mother Earth, to rediscover our connection with the sacred circle of life. Our path is one of harmony, where the heartbeat of the drum echoes the heartbeat of the earth, guiding us back to our roots, back to the oneness with Gaia. In the light of Hanwi, the Moon, and Wi, the Sun, we find ancient wisdom. The practice of sun gazing, a sacred ritual of our ancestors, allows us to draw in the energy of Wi. Just as the sun gives life to the earth, so does it nourish our spirits, reminding us of the eternal dance between light and life. As we gaze upon the morning sun, let our hearts be filled with gratitude, our minds with clarity, and our spirits with the warmth of understanding and connection. Within the womb of the Kieva, the sweat lodge, we embrace the cleansing power of Ina Maka, our Earth Mother. The rocks, heated by the fire's breath, speak the language of transformation. As we sit in this sacred space, enveloped in the arms of steam and prayer, we shed our fears, our doubts, and emerge reborn, purified in body and spirit. The Kieva is our teacher, showing us that through endurance, we find renewal; through darkness, we discover light. And in the sacred ceremony with the peyote, the Medicine, we walk a path of deep spiritual insight. This holy plant, a gift from Wakan Tanka, the Great Mystery, is not merely a substance, but a key to the doors of perception, a guide to the realms of higher understanding. As we partake in this sacred rite, let us do so with reverence, with an open heart, ready to receive the visions and lessons that await us. Remember, we are all relatives in this great circle of life, connected to each other, to the earth, to the sky, and to all living things. May our journey today bring us closer to the heartbeat of the earth, to the wisdom of the stars, and to the deep well of understanding within each of us. Mitákuye Oyás’iŋ – We are all related. Wopila – Thank you. "P.S. The attached video shows my method. Spirit trees, how I talk to Gaia, and how I talk to Sol." https://youtu.be/VHmXI5VIs2E

1. Circumference - Time [Neksus Sound]

Recommended if you like: Rillium, YAANO, Xeonz
It's about damn time we talk about the absurdly amazing Bristol-based boyband collective Circumference! Well, I mean, technically, we already did back when we featured Soulvent's Soul Music 2020 compilation and Kit's 2021 debut EP, but, if I'm being honest, that barely covered anything of their wonderful journey so far. So let's take this extra spicy new release of theirs as an opportunity to rectify this mistake and delve a little deeper!
First off, as the intro implied, you should know that Circumference consists of two excellent producer friends, Finlay Freshney-Lee and Kit Jones, but let's take a look at the former first, before we get to the latter.
With parental influences ranging from the likes of Joy Division and Public Image Limited seeing regular airplay at the Freshney-Lee home to his dad also being an absolute menace on the guitar, it makes sense that music would be a big part of Finlay's life, but you probably wouldn't expect him to end up where he is now. While all this meant he was already big on music in general, it was the infamous "2012-2015 era of dubstep and general bass music" that made him a massive fan of all things electronic. So much so, that he even tried his own hand at getting something made, with his very first released tune arriving in 2015, a Techno banger under the alias Dimensions. However, both the genre and the alias didn't survive what I'm just gonna call the Noisia effect™️. After initially discovering the legendary Dutch trio through the more Dubsteppy parts of their multi-faceted discography, Finlay of course eventually also stumbled upon their DnB output, and the rest, as they say, is history.
History we'll talk about further, of course! Over the years, the drums and the basses took more and more hold of him, and in 2017 he unveiled a brand new project to tackle both of those at the same time: Freshney! After kicking off the alias with bootlegs of Dead Limit and Fox Stevenson's Miss You (a proper wombo combo), it was time to put out his first originals, with his debut EP Convolve leading the way on Lost Recordings in 2018. You know what also happened that year? Circumference was officially born! Wait, what? Well, when Finlay started his studies at the college in Exeter in 2017, he befriended this guy called Kit Jones. Similar to Fin, Kit's got a lot of his musicality through his family, with dad’s CD and vinyl collection and the "extremely musical nan" being the main catalyst in his early years, but his start into the electronic world would follow not all too much later, thanks to stumbling upon Daft Punk_’s debut album _Homework in 2010. Production-wise, he was more of a Bassline and even Garage dude, but everything changed when this freshman dude called Finlay came around and showed him this weird fast music.
In 2018, both Finlay and Kit started organising events under the BASS-EXE banner, which is where they actually debuted their collaborative project for the very first time. Their production debut didn't take much longer to arrive either, with their freely downloadable banger GLASS LID on The Skank Bank dropping in 2019 and their first official release, a remix for Ruth Royall's Paper Dragon project, following in 2020. With inspirations ranging from Hildur Guðnadóttir to The Sauce and unusual instruments like the Armenian Duduk being incorporated in their creations, their output really was unlike any other, and quickly found a home on the likes of Soulvent, Flexout and Overview. While this dynamic duo was working out rather well, they still had a whole lot of solo ambitions to share with the world during this time.
On the one hand, Finlay not only remixed Zombie Cats, collaborated with Portuguese maestro Jon Tho on Soulvent and pushed his sound across basically the whole techy scene, with Surveillance, Blackout, NËU, Sinful Maze and Redacted all clamoring for that sweet sweet new patella, he also pursued some experimental vibes with his second alias not.LNEAR. On the other hand, Kit finally started putting out some of his own stuff, starting with freebie Faulty and ending with his aforementioned EP on Surveillance. On the third, joint, hand, the both of them showed how ridiculous their remixing talent can be as Circumference, with respins of Grafix's Stutter and KL!P & LAFA's Remembr. After a bit of a break in 2023, the now Bristol-based bois returned with a bang - their Alter EP on MODUS! As if that wasn't massive enough, they now raise the bar once again, with their debut on a label so uniquely heavy in the sounds that it's pushing that we frankly need to talk about it more often on here: none other than Annix & Simula's imprint Neksus Sound. So let's check it out, shall we?
One might think with a name like Time we're talking about a regular ol' singular single, but it's actually a double-sided one, kicking off with Nowhere! While the hauntingly beautiful vocal on top of a welcoming warmness building itself up further and further might start off melodic enough, the main bassline's heart arrhythmia type wonkiness soon pulls us down into a world of oddness. Straight-up weird yet mesmerising bass movements, already heavy distortion action getting more and more in-your-face, proper snappy drums - entrancing is the right word, I would say. On the flipside, Always smoothly pulls us out of said trance, with its relentlessly repeating, delightfully strange vocal distantly ringing in our heads like a morning alarm you'd like to ignore. As is often the case, however, ignoring doesn't quite work, and as Time goes on, more and more parts of the vocal open up, until we are hit smack-dab in the face, with some properly chopped-up madness. Now that we're fully present, the duo mercilessly throws us back and forth between the eery yet pleasant floating, looping and rolling and the fake-dropped chopping, stabbing, stepping and bass wubbing - simply nuts!
Time and Time again, these two have Always taken us on all sorts of wonderfully weird journeys - Nowhere else did it sound as unique, murky and straight-up banging as on Neksus though!

2. Yue - Set Sail [Pilot]

Recommended if you like: Fox Stevenson, Dossa & Locuzzed
Enough Bri'ish'ism, let's check out some new Dutchie vibes, provided by up-and-comer Yue!
Saying that Fleur Koelman, the Amsterdam-based artist behind this production debut, is "new" does feel kind of wrong though. Okay okay, let's jump back in time to explore what I mean with that cryptic statement. As a kid, back then still living in her hometown Alkmaar, Fleur was already busting out some bombastic basses with her trusty cello and even exploring the songwriting side of things, but when the infamous Skrillex wave™️ hit the world, teenage her knew she had to become a part of the electronic music world as well. At only 14 years of age, which should be around 10 years ago now if my professional internet stalking notes are correct, she already played her first gigs, and not all too long after, her Dubstep-Bass-and-Deephouse DJing stage name HitGirl was born. One by one, she conquered the Dancefloors around the country, sometimes as HitGirl, sometimes going by the name of Miss Molotov, but things were taken to an entirely new level when she started interning at what seems to be the coolest, most loveliest employer ever, Liquicity.
Not only had she become one of the main faces of the brand from 2018 on, the label management also got so enamoured with the digital art projects she had been dabbling in during that time that they recruited her to do more and more artworks and animations for the imprint's releases, to the point that she's now become a huge part of the visual identity on both the main label and its Galacy sister platform nowadays. During these early days, so late 2018, early 2019, she also debuted a brand new stage name: Yue! As someone so involved with Liquicity, it makes sense that she also regularly plays out some bangers at their events, from the family day to the summer festival, but over the years, she's also spun some sick selections at raves organised by the likes of NOX, Moonshine, Beats'N’Bass and Explicit. In the midst of all of this, she also found the time to pursue the production game. Years of slaving away both on her own and under the guidance of her significant other Mr. Stevenson, for whom she's also done some truly amazing artworks and even some backing vocals every now and then, have lead up to this point - her debut release on none other than UKF's Pilot, the aptly-titled Set Sail!
With a delightfully whimsical piano and a satisfyingly synthesised vocal fill, we are instantly transported to a place of sunshine, beaches and just generally a whole lot of summer vibes, before we've even crossed the 10 seconds mark. On this plane of feel-good vibery, we are treated to a vocal performance from Fleur that isn't just absolutely marvellous and elevates the whole atmosphere even further somehow, it's also expertly punctuated with distant background vocals and more and more layering further along the intro. Not just the vocal engineering is on point, however, the pure energy radiating from the drop is just incredible. Rapid-fire futuristic synths, shuffly drums, warmly wompy bass, plus all the fun vocal processing stuff from the intro, all coming together to form one undoubtably fantastic banger.
Positively fleured by this yuegely vibey, koel as hell debut! On a more serious note though, with a debut as great as this, I honestly cannot wait to see what else she's got in store for us in the future.
Other vibey things from this week: - Andromedik - Rise EP - [BORDERS], Puzzle - Grounded - barking continues - free (Remixes) - Niallo - Agnosthesia - Nia Archives - Silence Is Loud LP

2024.04.15 06:53 Bat-Gos Marvel downplay in this sub is insane, so I will scale its cosmology (lowball btw)

Hello, you've obviously read the title. There is lots of Marvel downplay in this sub, with people saying that TDK or even Superman would solo (both of which are not true). So Imma put some respect on it, and show you just how far Marvel goes.
Before I start, I just need to say that Marvel is much more confusing than the likes of DC and there are a few contradictions on which layers are above the others (like Multi Eternity being beyond the Far Shore or not). Additionally, Marvel's numbered earths like 616 (where the main cast is from) or 1610 (where Miles is from) actually house multiple planes of existence and are their sorta own "multiverses". Let's begin.

The Numbered Universes: 1-A or Outerversal

The entirety of Marvel Universes are stated to be infinite in size repeatedly, like seriously, all the time. How many of these do you really freakin’ need ? Because it gets pretty freakinstupid after a while. I can very much do this all damn day, seriously. Do you want me to make another whole post just for this one damn thing ? We’re well over 70. Although, limiting the scope of the universes to just infinite is actually a massive lowball.
The Beyonder described the universe as “many layered”, comprising of an endless amount of spatial dimensions. He then began to traverse these realms including Asgard, the Dark Dimension, Mephisto’s realm, and the Crossroads. This is important because:
This scaling for singular universes is very consistent. Infinite higher dimensions have multiple statements of existing within universes. Odin's fight with Seth which was affecting infinite planes of reality and tearing the fabric of the multiverse was rocking the continuum of the universe, confirming that they are within the universe. Earth-616 is stated to work based off cantor's set theory where there are infinite higher infinities, which is used to describe how the higher planes exist relative to one another. Universes are also described as transfinite, and even aleph 1 itself is Outerversal. And for those who think that these higher-d spaces aren't the same as in the tiering system, higher dimensional spaces in Marvel are infinitely larger than lower ones, which would immediately disprove that.
One of the highest planes located within Earth-616 is the Astral Plane. The Astral Plane is a metaphysical dimension layered atop the mortal one, a higher frequency of reality unbound by space, time, and form, and transcendent of physics. The Astral Pane also comparing to the M-Bodies of abstracts like Eternity, who resides on a higher plane and is the cardinal concept of space and time.
I can go into a lot more detail, but you get the gist. Marvel universes are easily 1-A or Outerversal in their entirety.

The Greater Omniverse: High 1-A or High Outerversal

The Omniverse has infinite multiverses within itself. Beyond that, there are infinite sets of already unknown multiverses. So, already pretty layered into infinity++++.
This Omniverse also contains infinite levels extending upwards. This would add an infinite hierarchy atop the Outer universes. But if you're in denial this is very consistent. The Omniverse extends infinitely in every direction: sideways into parallel multiverses, downwards into lower planes, into higher planes, and in every direction basically. The universes like 616 that I mentioned prior are part of its hierarchy. All the universes are dreams folded inside dreams, each universe a thought contained within a larger thought, and itself containing many smaller thoughts within itself, ad-infinitum. Creation itself is "dream into dream," and those dreams are infinite. Reality has more skins than a snake; each skin a new truth, each truth a new illusion, all of which is a part of God's grand magic trick. Within a person's mere psyche exist sub-realities. Mjolnir is able to transport Thor to worlds within worlds, worlds within worlds within worlds without number. There are as many of these worlds/universes as there are thoughts: An infinite number of holograms folded within each other.
All the alternate Earths form a single structure. A double helix. The genetic code of reality. As Above, So Below. A double helix, the shape of life. Dots of information comprising a code that none can decipher. And all of this may perhaps be part of a single unimaginable being. There are not only worlds within worlds, but worlds beside worlds, separated by the thinnest web of cosmic gossamer. There are invisible worlds within, beside and above the universe.
I think I've made it abundantly clear how the Omniverse functions; as an infinite hierarchy above the Outer universes.
This is all transcended by the Superflow, the highest plane of reality. The Superflow, as stated by the Maker, is a “place where concepts live and make war,” which is supported by the statement that says, “where living concepts make war.” And he also supports this statement by saying that it’s the realm of abstract entities, and that it’s an informational space between universes, where dreams come from. This is supported by the fact that Lifebringer Galactus states that it’s the highest plane of reality, the level of aspects; the higher space of dreams and visions. It’s also been confirmed to be a conceptual space, and that at this level, combat is metaphor. Supported by Lifebringer Galactus stating, “On our level, combat is metaphor; a clash of ideas.” It’s then also supported to be a higher plane of existence because of Lifebringer Galactus doing this as well as this (the Shaper had to shrink to achieve “lower planes”).
Supported by Black Panther entering it and stating, “On this level, combat is metaphor.” And after that, Galactus states that it has primal aspects, beings like Nyx, who is the dark side of every story. To support the Maker’s statements, it’s been stated to be the psychic buffer zone between universes, where dreams live. Again, supported that it’s indeed the space between universes, and that it’s where the god-machines of the ancients roll endlessly. Another thing that supports that it has concepts and aspects within it is the mere fact that Lifebringer Galactus states, “Tell any other aspects who wish to interfere--” Thus it contains them. It’s also stated by Master Order that, “In this dreamspace--in this Superflow--we can utilize our full power without damaging normal space. The Neutral Zone lies beyond this.
So, to summarize; Universes (1-A) < infinite hierarchy of the greater Omniverse (1-A+) < Superflow (High 1-A) < Neutral Zone (another layer into High 1-A)

The Outside/Mystery and the rest of creation: infinite layers into High 1-A or High Outerversal

The Outside is the Beyond. It’s the outer dark - nonexistence in its purest form - it is Oblivion. Beyond even Oblivion lies the farthest Far Shore at the end of all things. This is the point at which the truest nature of Yggdrasil surrenders to, its aspects and aspects of aspects emanating into lower realms. Merely looking at the Far Shore from Oblivion is enough to drive one insane. The Far Shore is beyond Multi-Eternity's reach and the concept of existence. It's outside everything and the first edge of the mystery. Beyond this is the Beyond, the realm of the Beyonders. It's the engine room of creation and where the plot of Marvel is warped or manipulated. Beyond this is the White Hot Room. The White Hot Room transcends the Beyond Realm. The Mystery is the White Hot Room and the Above Place… the opposite to the Below Place of the One Below All. The Mystery is where probability spawns from creation where the ideas of Marvel sink into from the tip of the author’s pencil. The Land-Of-Can't-Shouldn't-Be transcends the White Hot Room. The Land-Of-Can-Shall-Be transcends the Land-Of-Can't-Shouldn't-Be.
Beyond this is the House of Ideas. The House of Ideas is the crown of all creation which views everything else as a dream. It has many entrance points on Earth and is the core of all Marvel. From it comes everything that ever was, ever is, and ever will be. Anything that is even slightly relevant to Marvel stems from the House of Ideas, whether it be canon or noncanon. Even fanfiction and headcanon are parts of the House, for the dreams of true believers of Marvel become reality within the House. From it, infinite stories are born. It contains all characters, all stories, all ideas, and all concepts. Nothing in Marvel is beyond the House, except for its true creator, the One Above All, who is Marvel’s “omnipotent” God and the representation of all of Marvel’s writers, editors, readers, artists, and fans.
However, this isn't the limits to Marvel, as Loki says within the Mystery that, no matter how big you are, there is always something bigger. Supported by journeying through the higher planes never ends, not even after one passes though the door to the House of Ideas. It's said to be infinite.
So to conclude, Far Shore (High 1-A) < Beyond (High 1-A) < WHR (High 1-A)

Conclusion

If you've made it this far I thank you for reading this. Took a lot of effort to make this. And if you still don't get what I said, Marvel scales to infinite layers into High Outer. This is because Universes (1-A) < infinite hierarchy of the greater Omniverse (1-A+) < Superflow (High 1-A) < Neutral Zone (another layer into High 1-A) < Far Shore (High 1-A) < Beyond (High 1-A) < WHR (High 1-A) If you have any questions, ask away in the comments.

2024.04.11 20:44 Finnish_politician Hi to any Europeans, how do you buy your ost's?

Im trying to buy the signalis ost on record with a couple others from very ok vinyl as my first ever online record purchase and am trying to understand all the alv/vat (24% on vinyls because finland :( ) and other customs fees (as they ship from Canada and i don't know how that works) and if i could prevent some of them by buing from black screen records (works only if they ship from the Eu with no vat as the records are more expensive and less numerous) so do any europeans now if BSR has vat or not and if theres any other sites that sell/ship in the Eu without Vat. Also shipping fees are literall hell
So if any of you have more information on BSR and VoV and how the shipping from Canada would work, please tell me and thanks for reading.

2024.04.10 12:28 wardXn Trip Report: 36 days across Western Japan, Part 2 – Hiroshima, Kurashiki, Matsue, Izumo, Misasa Onsen, Tottori, Kinosaki Onsen, Amanohashidate (aka the Golden Route, but with extra steps)

- Tl;dr if you’re a returning visitor to Japan, I highly recommend that you consider the outskirts such as Shikoku (in my earlier post here) or Tottori/Shimane – I personally find the more ‘outside’ routes more rewarding, and considerably less crowded as well.
- This is a continuation post from Part 1 here (Day 0~9).
- Refer to link here for a map covering Day 10~12 here(labelled Part 1), Day 13~23 here(labelled Part 2).
- This post covers between Hiroshima (Day 10) to Kinosaki Onsen (Day 18).
- This trip occurred during Mid-November to Mid-December (autumn season).
Day 10 – Kintaikyo Bridge (Yamaguchi), Simose Art Museum and Miyajima (Hiroshima)
Started off the day with a breakfast at the hotel, before taking the Shinkansen over to JR Shin-Iwakuni station for just 15 minutes [NOTE: only the Kodama type stops here], and transferring to a local bus (not covered by JR pass) to see the bridge. There is an admission fee of 310 yen to cross the bridge and back. Spent just about 1.5 hours strolling and relaxing around the area.
After that, before noon I headed over to the Simose Art Museum, a new art museum that popped up between Iwakuni and Hiroshima back in April 2023 (yes, its THAT new). Accessibility to the museum via public transport is limited – you will either need to time your bus connection well, or face walking ~2.5km from the nearest station (JR Kuba/Otake) over. Shuttle buses to/from the museum direct are only available on the weekends (I visited on a Tuesday); consequently I had to walk (or eat a 1h penalty/wait for the next public bus). The museum feels modern with its mirror-like exterior, but exudes a traditional, wooden vibe on the interior. I suppose its main call to fame is its “8-colored boxes” exhibition hall situated above a shallow pool, facing the Seto Inland Sea, which is most certainly memorable (or Instagram-worthy). There is both English translation and audio guides if you are unable to read Japanese. The museum was enjoyable though I wished they would consider improving public transport accessibility to said museum if they want to draw more tourists in. Admission tickets are (relatively) steep at ~1.8k yen. I would suggest rationing 1.5~2 hours here in order to enjoy your time here.
After that, I decided to walk back to JR Kuba to hop over to Miyajima. When I took the ropeway up to Mount Misen, it was just past 1530. Getting up to Mount Misen this late was a major mistake in hindsight for two reasons – first, the ropeway service back to ground level ends at 1630, meaning that there’s not enough time for me to head all the way up to the top. Secondly, there was a really LONG queue for people to get off Mount Misen. It took nearly 45 minutes of queuing time to get on a return ropeway down to base. In short, if you want to get up to Mount Misen, do it early and cater more time for it (probably 2-3 hours). That aside, I was able to watch the sunset at Itsukushima Shrine (night version here).
Day 11 – Peace Memorial Park, Yamato Museum, JSDF Maritime Museum (Hiroshima)
After finishing some paperwork to forward my luggage to my next destination, I went to the Peace Memorial Park which was a 10 minutes walk away from the hotel. I think it drives home the point for nuclear abolition rather well overall. The main museum, A-bomb dome and the memorial cenotaph was crowded as expected, though other parts of the park were just as well presented (but with significantly lesser tourist footfall) such as the Peace Memorial Hall and the Children’s Peace Monument. My thoughts is that you’ll probably have to dedicate about 2-3 hours if you want to properly comb through the entire park at a moderate pace. I spent the morning here for reference.
For the afternoon, I took a highway bus from downtown Hiroshima to Kure (you could do it via JR but the highway bus was more accessible for me) to visit the Yamato Museum and JSMDF Kure Museum. If you’re into military or naval history, this should be right up your alley. The Yamato Museum details Japan’s naval history in Kure, and has that mega-scale Yamato battleship which is pretty impressive. Whereas for the JMSDF museum, it details JMSDF’s contribution such as anti-mining efforts and and various joint exercises around the world. The highlight though was being able to enter the life-sized submarine replica and see how cramped submarines can be first-hand. No visit to Kure is complete without trying the JMSDF curry; I thought it was … alright, not exceptional, but not terrible either – good for a taster at least. Kure is about half an hour away from Hiroshima, and can be done as a (half)-day trip.
In essence, Hiroshima isn’t limited to just Miyajima and the Peace Memorial Museum - I feel that devoting an extra one or two days to explore the peripheral areas (Kure, Onomichi etc) would enhance your experience more in that area!
Day 12 – Kurashiki (Okayama), Yuushien (由志園) (Shimane)
This day is meant to be a ‘repositioning day’ from Hiroshima to Matsue (since I’ll need to travel 2.5 hours across the San’in mountains). Hopping on the Shinkansen over to Shin-Kurashiki and local rail to JR Kurashiki, I decided to spend the morning strolling along the historical quarters and visit the Ohara Museum of Art which was not bad. As always, coming early here means you get to beat the crowd and get an unobstructed view of the canals. There’s also a mini-denim street.
Taking the Yakumo train, by the time I reached Matsue and deposited my luggage at the hotel, it was already 1500. Nevertheless, I managed to squeeze in a visit to Yuushien (由志園) which had just started its autumn illumination at night (day version here). Taking a bus over, I spent the evening walking in the garden and watch the illumination; it was pretty, and also relatively chill [crowd levels are definitely much manageable over here].
Day 13 – Adachi Museum of Art, Izumo Taisha, Ancient Izumo History Museum , Inase Beach (Shimane)
NOTE: Days 13 ~ 16 is covered by the Sanin-Okayama Pass for JR-related trains
The plan for the day was to start off at the Adachi Museum of Art in the morning, before breaking wesstwards towards Izumo Taisha and exploring the area before circling back to Matsue for the night. The Adachi Museum of Art is renowned for its well-curated garden, and in my opinion it certainly lives up to its title. Besides that, there is also an extensive art gallery which I would say is on par with some of the better ones in my opinion (think Benesse Art Museum). Access to the museum via public transport is doable via JR Yasugi and hopping on the shuttle bus which departs at fixed timings, however, do note that the bus has a maximum seating capacity of 28; if it fills ahead of time you’ll be forced to wait for the next bus (hourly departure). For the return trip to JR Yasugi, you will need to grab a ticket near the counter to book a slot for the shuttle bus (free).
I then took the Yakumo limited express train over to JR Izumo, and swapped to a bus towards Izumo Taisha. There were a lot of rabbit statuettes littered around the temple, a nod to the folktale The White Hare of Inaba. Considering that it was a public holiday in Japan (Labor Thanksgiving Day) and its innate popularity, it was rather crowded; I decided to queue for one of the smaller shrines and got a goshuin for my effort. I do want to mention that those binded rice straws (Shimenawa) at the front of the temple are extraordinarily thick– seeing is believing. There was still some time before sunset so I decided to walk over next door to the Shimane Museum of Natural History which provided a run-down on the history of Izumo. If I recall correctly, admission is half-priced for foreign visitors so it might be worth a visit even on a budget. The main thing that stuck with me for this museum was the very long temple replica, as well as a full-blown jade/bronze armoury. Lastly, I took a walk over to Inase Beach to visit the sunset; there was a tori gate perched on an outcrop with a donation box stuck near it. Although the sea breeze was chilly, watching the sunset was something worth visiting; its one of those visuals that would stick with me long after this trip fades away from memory.I took the local Ichibata tram that courses along the northern stretch of Lake Shinji back to Matsue to retire for the night.
For dinner, I chanced upon a local cafeteria called Bamboo where I ordered their daily special – kimchi beef nabe, and some karaage. The husband and wife owner duo offered to provide me a free serving of zosui [porridge] using the leftover soup base from the nabe at no extra charge which I gratefully accepted. With my basic command of Japanese, I was able to have a meaningful conversation about some of the tourist hotspots, as well as some of the town happenings – they mentioned that one of the temple nearby was celebrating 神在祭 (lit. gods are present festival) tomorrow and I noted that down. I just find the hospitality rather heartwarming and just want to give them a shoutout here.
Day 14 - Sada Jinja, , Lafcadio Hearn Memorial Museum, Matsue Castle (Shimane), Misasa Onsen (Tottori)
Started off with a visit to Sada Jinja, a relatively remote shrine in the outskirts of Matsue. Unfortunately, the main event that the cafeteria owner mentioned would only take place at night, but nevertheless, there were those bazaar stores open for me to explore and buy some finger foods etc. Grabbed a goshuin for my effort, and a corn cob.Taking a return bus to central Matsue, I stopped by the Lafcadio Hearn Memorial Museum where they detailed this one foreigner that made significant effort integrating into 1900s Japan society and contributed enough to be worthy of memorializing. There was a rather popular soba restaurant nearby (Kamiyo Soba) serving nameko [mushroom] soba which I thought was pretty delicious. After lunch, I walked over to explore Matsue Castle, one of the few remaining original castles left standing in Japan. The size of it is pretty impressive when you look at it in person.
Finally, I headed over to JR Matsue to board the Ametuchi sightseeing train. As with other sightseeing trains, there was a bar where you could buy some snacks and drinks to consume. Two particular aspects that stood out to me was the comfy, wooden design feel that was present throughout the train, and was how well they integrated various local crafts into the train, such as the tiles that are on the tables. The sightseeing train coasted along the Sanin line facing the Sea of Japan which made for an enjoyable sightseeing ride. As with previous sightseeing trains, you could book this sightseeing train easily via the JR West website. JR pass (or the Sanin-Okayama Area Pass) covers the base fare.
The train runs from JR Izumo all the way to JR Tottori, though I stopped at Kurayoshi to head to my final destination for the next two nights – Misasa Onsen. The main reason for choosing this particular onsen town was that I wanted to climb up Nageire-dou the next day, which was a 20 minutes bus ride away. However, I made a major blunder by not engaging a local guide to climb with me ahead of time (since the regulations are that hikers need to go in pairs in interest of safety). I casually remarked this to the chauffer that picked me up to the ryokan, and he went above and beyond to call various people to make it happen. Although it was ultimately unsuccessful [since it was so last minute – entirely my own fault], I was really moved by his efforts – it really speaks to the otomenashi experience that ryokans provide, a unique aspect to Japan.
Onto to the actual ryokan – Mansuiro (万翆楼). The room was pretty traditional with tatami mats and futons, but it was comfortable overall. I would like to give special mention to their dinner service which was delectable, showcasing their local cuisine such as crabs, beef sukiyaki and pear wine (!). Another nice subtle touch is how they labelled each dining room with the assigned guest name. I would highly recommend them if you do pass by this area. Also, I would also mention that this particular ryokan is ‘rare’ in the sense that it accepts solo pax bookings; most ryokans would only accept a minimum of 2 pax in order for them to accept your reservations.
Day 15 – Misasa Onsen, Kurayoshi Figurine Museum, Nijisseiki Pear Museum (Tottori)
Had a scrumptious breakfast at the ryokan (look at the quantity of it – I struggled to finish them). Even though I knew that I wont be able to climb Nageire-dou, I decided to go over to view the temple from a distance [and try my luck and see if any solo strangers were there too]. Unfortunately, at ~9am, there were very few trekkers, and I didn’t feel right butting into those couples so I decided not to push my luck further and leave. I managed to get a shot of the remote temple from the observatory point.
With that minor setback, I decided to head over to the nearby town of Kurayoshi via bus to spend the day. Some notable attractions in brief as follow:
- Kurayoshi Figurine Museum: As a repurposed school building, this is a good place to visit if you have interest in anime or figurine collecting. At the point of visiting, there were some exhibits detailing how they made those nenedroids. Even if you aren’t into anime, there are also other figurines such as military(tanks/jets), and animals that you could view, which should be adequate to cater to a wide demographic. There were also some hands-on activities like creating your own nenedroid faces. I took about ~2 hours in this place.
- White Wall Warehouses: as what the name implies, it’s a bunch of historic white-walled building. Its okay if you’re already in the vicinity, though I wouldn’t purposely make a dedicated stop for this. (~10-20 minutes walking along the canals)
- Kurayoshi Line Railway Memorial Hall: a small free museum showing the history of the now-defunct Kurayoshi railway line. I suppose the main draw is that you are able to get up one of the old train replicas similar to those at the Kyoto Railway museum. There's also another SL replica outside of the memorial hall.
- Nijisseiki Pear Museum: a pear museum showcasing the history of pear cultivation in Tottori, as well as the various pear types around the world. You get to sample free pears, though I wanst able to do so because it was Kansai Culture Appreciation Day and admission was free, thus said samples were already gone by the time I visited. (~1-1.5 hours)
Overall, a pretty enjoyable time in Kurayoshi. The figurine museum and the pear museum are the main highlights for me.
Returned to Misasa Onsen late afternoon. I spent the remainder of the day exploring the onsen town before dinner, and one particular interesting location was the Misasa Violin Museum, showcasing how violins are made and some history on violin-making. You could even test-run their violins with purchase of a drink (at ~400yen) though I declined since I couldn’t play it. I enjoyed spending the evening walking along Mitoku River and soaking at an ashiyu. There is an open-air river onsen that is free to all, though I was too shy to do so.
Day 16 – Tottori Sand Dunes, Tottori (Tottori), JR Amarube (Hyogo)
Another great breakfast at the ryokan before checking out. As with most ryokans, they offered to drop me off at JR Kurayoshi so that I could catch my next train to next-door Tottori. After dropping my luggage at the hotel, I went straight to the sand dunes for a paragliding session. Usually most people would associate the sand dunes with the museum (and rightfully so), but I was feeling a bit daring and decided to try something out of character. For 10k yen, you are taught the basic commands (left/right) and postures, landing/emergency drills before you get to do your paragliding attempts (4 in total, three solo attempts and one tandem with the instructor). Although not explicitly mentioned in the website, there was actually an English-speaking instructor that was present at all times so I do not think you need to worry if you can’t speak a lick of Japanese. All in all, a great way to view the dunes from above.
After that, I spent some time traversing along the sand dunes and visited the sand museum. It appears that the themes vary on a yearly basis and this year’s focus was on Egypt. I thought the level of detail on each of those sculptures was pretty impressive. Lastly, I made a stop at Amarube Station (or known as the ‘station in the sky’); while I cant say that I am a rail geek, I admire the engineering design that has been in place since the 1910s. Getting to and from the station via JR was a pain though, with train frequency few and far in between, but I still felt it was worth spending an hour just exploring the area and taking some photos. Returned to Tottori for the night to retire at Green Hill Morris Tottori, which in my opinion is a great value-for-money business hotel at ~7.7k yen/night with decent rooms and good breakfast spread.
Day 17 – Hakuto Shrine, Uradome Coast (Tottori), Kinosaki Onsen (Hyogo)
NOTE: Days 17 ~ 21 is covered by the Kansai Wide Area Pass for JR trains and Kyoto-Tango (for Amanohashidate).
Started the morning with a subsidized sightseeing taxi at JR Tottori to bring me to some of the tourist hotspots such as Hakuto Shrine (with a heavy rabbit theming) and Uradome Coast(which was extremely windy/rainy on that day). For 3k yen, you get to have a taxi to bring you around based on the selected route of your choice, and the taxi driver would explain some background information of the place to you (mostly in Japanese, ymmv). These sightseeing taxis are a good way to get around places in Tottori especially if you rely on public transport. I do note that they operate on a first-come-first served basis (no reservations allowed), so it is a good idea to get there right after the tourism centre opens in the morning. The entire tour lasted for about 3 hours.
After that, I took the limited express Hamakaze over to Kinosaki Onsen. There are only two trains per day (one early in the morning, and another just after lunch) so its not a good idea to miss it. Although I arrived at the ryokan earlier than the check-in time, I was able to drop my luggage first to explore the town. After checking in, I was handed a onsen pass to try out the 7 public baths at no extra charge (its baked in as part of the accommodation cost). I managed to try out 4 of them, with the remaining 3 to be done the next day. I spent the evening and night walking around town. My personal thoughts on Kinosaki Onsen as a whole is that while it is heavily geared to foreigners with English translations almost pervasive throughout the area, it manages to retain its own traditional identity rather well. Additionally, I feel that if one wishes to try out all 7 public baths in the area, spending at least 2 nights here is a good idea especially as 1 or 2 of them would be closed on a certain day during the week for maintenance.
Onto the ryokan for the next two nights – Morizuya. The innkeeper is a cool middle-aged man with a good command of English and here, the otomenashi experience was great – with the little things such as offering to help take photos for personal keepsake, showing the various facilities within the building and the room. My room was on the third floor, and at first glance it looks like the run-of-the-mill traditional ryokan room with tatami mats. However, the balcony view from the room is the million dollar view facing the main road that I don’t think I’ll ever forget. Dinner was served with Tajima beef and crab legs. I should mention that Morizuya is again one of those few ryokans that accept solo travellers, so kudos to them.
Day 18 – Kinosaki Onsen (Hyogo), Amanohashidate (Kyoto)
Decided to day-trip over to Amanohashidate via Kinosaki. Breakfast at Morizuya was splendid. Getting over to Amanohashidate is not as straightforward as I needed to make a transfer at JR Toyooka via the Kyoto-Tango railway (covered by Kansai Wide Area Pass).
My day trip was as follow:
Amanohashidate at 0930 Bus to Ine to catch the boatride Return bus to Motoise Jinja Kasamatsu Park Nariaiji Temple Rent a bike and cycle across the sandbar to the other end Amanohashidate Viewland return to JR Amanohashidate
- The boat ride at Ine was alright, though it was nothing special overall. Seagulls are pretty aggressive so I think it’s a good idea not to bring any food stuff with you.
- Having experienced both ends of Amanohashidate, Kasamatsu Park was definitely less crowded (since it wasn’t that readily accessible via public transport), though the view of the sandbar was about the same (Kasamatsu Park vs Viewland). IF you have time for just one, settling for Amanohashidate Viewland is adequate. Nariaiji Temple was not bad though and is probably worth the visit over to Kasamatsu Park.
- There is a bike rental store near the sandbar entrance, with rentals at ~400yen for about ~2 hours. If you are not feeling well on that day you could also opt for a boat ride to get to the other end of the sandbar(iirc 600+ yen). Cycling across the sandbar took me about 30 minutes (with some stops along the way to take photos etc).
- If your time is really limited dropping Ine is a necessary evil (since it takes almost an hour on bus to get there from JR Amanohashidate, one-way).
Returned to the ryokan for dinner – great as usual. Additionally, I managed to try out the remaining public onsens.

If you’re still reading, thanks for powering through! Due to word limit I cant post the Kobe/Osaka leg here, but I'll add them in a separate post in the coming weeks.

2024.04.06 15:15 FearOfSupreme Help with BCM Removal

Help with BCM Removal
Hi there,
My partner owns a 2014 Fiat 500 Sport, and as of late we've had a few issues related to lights, namely:
- DRLs stayed on overnight killing the battery, twice.
- Rear passenger side Brake light refuses to function despite replacing the bulb, tested all fuses related to lights by multimeter and tested for voltage at the connector to no avail.
- High beam headlights refuse to function despite showing up on the dash as on when engaged.
We've not owned the car too long and I don't have a tonne of experience with European cars nor newer can-bus vehicles, but I consider myself quite mechanically minded and I understand how the vehicle and it's electrical system functions (both from previous experience and recent research).
Given what I have learned about these vehicles since having purchased one, as far as I can tell one or more of these issues (if not all) point to the early stages of BCM issues. Given this, I began looking in to potential fixes for the BCM, since I'd rather try my hand at it before sending it to a shop if there is something I'm capable of doing.
Research in to possible remedies yielded this video showing the replacement of two relays in the BCM. I have the tools and know-how to confidently perform the repair in the video and already have the parts. If the repair fails to solve any of our issues then the car will of course go to a trusted local Fiat/Alfa shop for at the very least a diagnosis.
The titular issue to this post, however, came when I actually attempted to gain access to the BCM earlier today to remove it for repair. I live in Australia, and our Fiat is an Australian delivered, right hand drive model. All of the videos I can find related to BCM removal or replacement show LHD models in which the BCM is under the steering column, behind an airbag, obscured by only a small plastic cover.
In our AUDM model, it seems that the BCM is in a similar location on the (our) passenger side, behind the glovebox. However after removing the glovebox I found that the BCM was secured behind a several millimetre thick steel plate, by bolts designed to shear their head upon installation. I'm quite surprised they would bother to secure it so heavily and can't understand why the Australian model would need to be any more tamper proof (I assume that's the reason) than cars in other markets. I'm still game to attempt repair, but am unsure how to remove the BCM from its Fort Knox-like shroud. My first thought is to Dremel slots in to the now blind bolt heads for a flat head screw driver, remove the bolts, and replace them with hardware that could actually be removed for any future repair.
TLDR; Having issues removing BCM in an Australian, right hand drive Fiat 500 Sport due to impenetrable (likely bulletproof) steel shroud with factory sheered bolts and need advice on how to proceed. pics attached.
intentionally sheared bolt heads visible here
view of behind bolt confirming to me they were indeed threaded. bolt head indicated for directionality.
UPDATE: I was able to get back on to the car this weekend and have another go, having purchased an easy-out and left handed drill bit set. I expected much more of a fight from the bolts but surprisingly they were far less tight than I had expected and came out with just some screw extraction pliers (Knipex TwinGrip, worth their weight). Unfortunately, it seems the Australian/RHD pcb for the BCM (or perhaps the MY2014 pcb?) was spec'd with alternate relays to those shown in the video linked above, as I was greeted with Japanese made Omron and Philippine made NEC componentry after getting in.
Personally for me this is the end of the line. Me and my partner have agreed for the car to go to aforementioned trusted, local fiat/alpha specialist shop for a diagnosis and potential fix. A shame for me as I would have liked to have made a repair myself, but I'll settle for having upgraded replaced the BCM shield bolts with button head Allens (seem to be standard M6 thread btw) to make it accessible in the future.
Thanks for your suggestions and help, and I might provide a further update depending what comes of it all, to round things out and give others something to find on google. Further pics below for documentation.
Area of the BCM pcb expected to hold TE Connectivity relays
Finalised with replacement bolts

2024.03.17 17:32 AlphabetPeopleIsCult MMW: If the democratic party wins the general election, the United States will turn into Kazahstan under a one party democratic rule

It's no secret that the democratic party has purposefully opened the border and anywhere between 10 million to 20 million illegal undocumented migrants have entered under the Joe Biden regime.
BuT Op ThEy CaNt VoTe. They don't need them to vote, they just need a higher concensus and therefore more electoral voting power. The Democrats voted unanimously to include illegal immigrants in census.
What a perfect situation for the democratic party to gain a permanent underclass of illegal migrants.
NYC is spending $387 per migrant per day on 65,000 migrants. 65,000 times 387= 25,155,000 a day! Congratulations, you're paying for it!

2024.03.14 17:20 tobias_mueller Made a Custom GPT That Creates Tools or Games With Live Demos - Your Thoughts?

A little background information before I link some examples and the GPT:
I love how you can create almost anything nowadays using just a little HTML, JS and CSS. From a fully working To-Do List to a Camera app that is able to switch between cameras and even take pictures on mobile devices.
When creating stuff like that with ChatGPT, I always wished for an immediate demo instead of being forced to copy the code part for part.
So here's what I did: I built a GPT that will write code, compress it and link to a page that decompresses the code, displays the result and also has a built in code editor, similar to CodePen or JSFiddle.

In other words, here's what you can do with the Code to Live Preview GPT:
  1. Ask for a tool or game. (e.g. Tic Tac Toe, a temperature converter etc)
  2. Wait for the GPT to finish developing.
  3. Click on the provided link to see the results and source code in action.

Things that I wanted to focus on or take into account:
  1. Keep the GPT free from self-ads to maximize useful output. Most GPTs I've used so far waste tokens and context just for advertising the creator.
  2. Make everything open source, including the GPT instructions.

Additional information:

Examples of games and tools created by this GPT:

Use cases:

Known Problems:

My main goal with posting this is to get some feedback and maybe some ideas on how I could make this tool even more useful. Every input is highly appreciated!
Even if you know tools that do the same, but better - tell me about them!

2024.03.09 02:01 DrTardis1963 The teachings of Neville Goddard, scripture and the contradictions and errors of modern Christianity

So many Christians reflexively reject what Neville has to say because they follow their Religion as opposed to scripture. Their beliefs consist of what the've been told about the nature of God, Christ, the Church and Scipture, rather than being backed by scripture itself.
I have yet to find a Christian who can adequately dispell the teachings of Neville. To tell me WHY his teachings are incorrect. They can't go through it, bit by bit and point out his errors. They can't form a cogent counterargument. They must simply tar him with some label.
I would like to either hear a considered counterargument adressing his points, or an acknowledgement that he speaks truth.
Matthew 19:26 NIV "Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."
The teaching of modern Christianity differs from the lesson of scripture. The lesson is that your imagination is God. All things are possible to your imagination, all things are possible to God. That means that you at the very least have the same infinite potential as God.
2 Corinthians 13:5 "Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?"
Luke 17:20-21 "And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you."
Christianity also teaches that the Devil is some seperate entity with agency and the cause of all the world's problems and darkness, also anti-scriptural.
Deuteronomy 32:38-40 "See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand. For I lift up my hand to heaven, and say, I live for ever."
Revelation 22:13 "I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last."
Christ and Satan are two aspects of the same entity, God. He kills he makes alive, he wounds he heals. Nothing is done without God that is done. And WE are God. He dwells within us. God became Man so that he could ascend to Heaven.
John 3:12-14 "If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things? And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:"
The Son of Man is our consciousness.
Also, Christ is NOT the Son of God. Christ IS God. David is the Son of God. He will call you Father, and you will know that you are God.
Matthew 11:26-28 "All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him."

https://youtu.be/MbA6_upLKjk?si=oM7eaMihtySCZJs3
John 10:33 "The Jews said, “We’re not stoning you for anything good you did, but for what you said—this blasphemy of calling yourself God."
Jesus said, “I’m only quoting your inspired Scriptures, where God said, ‘I tell you—you are gods.’ If God called your ancestors ‘gods’—and Scripture doesn’t lie—why do you yell, ‘Blasphemer! Blasphemer!’ at the unique One the Father consecrated and sent into the world, just because I said, ‘I am the Son of God’? If I don’t do the things my Father does, well and good; don’t believe me. But if I am doing them, put aside for a moment what you hear me say about myself and just take the evidence of the actions that are right before your eyes. Then perhaps things will come together for you, and you’ll see that not only are we doing the same thing, we are the same—Father and Son. He is in me; I am in him.”

2024.02.23 02:53 thebrainpal These Are the Best Founder Biographies and Autobiographies (the Book Recommendation Thread to End All Book Recommendation Threads).

The last part of the title is mostly facetious in nature. Anyways... book recommendations get asked about here all the time. I read a ton of business biographies and autobiographies.
I take solace in the fact that many other successful entrepreneurs are fans of biographies as well. For example, Charlie Munger called himself "A biography nut". I've run my business full-time for what will be 5 years soon (fifth anniversary is in March 🎉).
I found these books very helpful in starting and running my business. So, here are my favorite biographies and autobiographies by and for entrepreneurs. When I feel like it, I'll add a note on the book and why I like it. 1. Against the Odds by James Dyson - This was my favorite book that I read in 2023. By far the most inspiring founder autobiography I've ever read.
  2. The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin\* - Franklin was a business founder before he was a founding father.
  3. The Autobiography of Andrew Carnegie
  4. My Life and Work by Henry Ford
  5. Copy This by Paul Orfaela - I particularly liked this book because like me, Orfaela has ADHD. In the book, he gives great strategies for using ADHD as what he calls a "learning opportunity" to get ahead as an entrepreneur.

Other Biographies / Autobiographies I Really Liked

These aren't in exact order of my recommendation level. However, they are in rough order of how much I like them. I'm by and large writing from memory, so the ones I like the most will cluster near the top. Additionally, if I think something should be near the top, I'll make efforts to place it closer to the top.
I will also say there are some historical figures who have what David Senra calls "founder mentality". These are people who have the qualities of successful founders (both in action and mentality). Accordingly, I'll list some of my favorite books on historical figures with founder mentality below.
  1. Genghis Khan and the Making of the Modern World by Jack Weatherford - This was my second favorite book I read in 2023. It covers the Mongolian Empire from the rise with Genghis Khan, the life and times of Kublain Khan, and through the fall of the empire. I think this is an underrated part of history to study.
  2. Alexander the Great by Philip Freeman
That's all, folks! For now :)
