As a 27-year-old making $26 an hour, I find myself increasingly frustrated by the obvious differences between the opportunities available to my generation and those that our parents and grandparents enjoyed. It’s not just a matter of nostalgia or "the good old days"—it’s about real, tangible freedoms and opportunities that have been eroded over time.
Homeownership: A Distant Dream
Our grandparents, many of whom didn't attend college, had the chance to buy their first homes in their 20s or early 30s. They worked hard, but the cost of living and housing was much more reasonable. For example, in 1950, the median home price in the U.S. was about $7,400. Adjusted for inflation, that's roughly $84,000 today. Contrast that with the current median home price of over $330,000, and it’s clear we’re at a massive disadvantage. Despite making what seems like a decent wage, the dream of homeownership feels increasingly out of reach for many of us.
Job Stability and Wages
Our parents could spend 20+ years at one company, earning a livable wage and enjoying job security. This stability allowed them to build a future and plan for retirement. Today, the job market is far more volatile. We switch jobs frequently, not out of desire, but necessity. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that the average tenure of a worker is now about 4.1 years. While our parents might have expected raises and promotions, we're often left with stagnant wages and rising living costs.
Educational Inflation
The cost of education has skyrocketed, creating a financial burden that our grandparents and many of our parents didn’t have to bear. In 1980, the average annual tuition for a four-year public university was $1,800, which is about $6,000 today when adjusted for inflation. Yet, the actual average cost today is over $10,000. This discrepancy leaves many of us saddled with massive student loan debt, eating into our earnings and delaying financial independence.
Income vs. Inflation
Despite making $26 an hour, it often feels like we're just treading water. According to the Economic Policy Institute, worker productivity has increased by 70% since 1979, but hourly pay has only increased by 11.6%. Our increased productivity hasn’t translated into commensurate wage growth. Meanwhile, the cost of essentials like healthcare, education, and housing has ballooned, squeezing our budgets even tighter.
Erosion of Freedom
These economic pressures aren't just financial—they erode our freedoms. Our grandparents and parents had the freedom to plan for a stable future, to party and enjoy their youth without crippling debt, and to build a life with fewer obstacles. Today, many of us face a constant struggle just to keep up, let alone get ahead.
We need to recognize these changes and work towards restoring the opportunities and freedoms that previous generations took for granted. It’s not about romanticizing the past, but about creating a future where we can live, not just survive. Let's start a conversation about how we can reclaim these lost freedoms and build a society that offers the same opportunities to us and to future generations.

Old peasant legends tell of a magnificent treasure at the peak of Firetop Mountain in the realm of Titan. This treasure is sought out by many adventurers, although few make it back out of the mountains in one piece, and none are able to find the two-locked chest containing the prize. The treasure is guarded by an enigmatic warlock who commands terrible beasts to guard the chest’s keys. Some say he's old, some say he's young, some say his cards are his source of power, others say it’s his black gloves. The only thing that the peasants can agree on was his name; Zagor.
The terrible warlock would fight three different adventurers on their quests to claim his treasure. Each time, if the reader makes the right choices and defeats Zagor in combat, he manages to crawl back from the blackness of death using another morbid spell. Upon his third incarnation, he even made the jump from the realm of Titan to a new world called Amarillia. It's here that the sorcerer would finally meet his end, burned to ashes in the mystical Heartfires.
Feats come from three books, The Warlock of Firetop Mountain, Return to Firetop Mountain and Legend of Zagor. Hover over a feat to see what book it’s from. Since they’re Choose Your Own Adventure books, they aren’t distinguished by chapters but rather by paragraph numbers, which are included in the images themselves.

General

Human Form

• He has a Skill stat of 11 and a Stamina stat of 18. This makes Zagor more skilled than a Vampire, who can catch the player’s sword, and tougher than a Giant.
  • If the player burns his magic cards, Zagor physically shrinks, his Skill stat goes down to 7 and his Stamina stat goes down to 11.

Resurrected Form

• After resurrecting into a patchwork body, he maintains his stats of 11 in Skill and 18 in Stamina
• If the second adventurer kills him a second time, they return to identify the corpse a few days later. Zagor’s body is completely dead, but he’s grinning and his skeletal left hand is missing, something the adventurer worries will lead to a third encounter down the line.

Demon Form

• In another realm called Amarillia, a war with a Bone Demon ended when the Casket of Souls was created, which allowed the humans to banish the demon to another plane. However, Zagor’s pernicious spirit felt this event in the realm of Titan and used the Casket to manifest himself in Amarillia. By crossing into the parallel world, he bonded with the trapped Bone Demon, and Zagor’s third physical form is a demonic/human hybrid. This incarnation grows stronger as Zagor spends time in the demon’s lair, Castle Argent, and can only be killed for good by the Heartfires below the castle.
• Zagor’s Demon form is four meters tall and visibly strong. He fights using a rune-covered staff.
• As his Demon-Thing form, his stats go up to 16 in Skill and 20 in Stamina. He uses a variety of attacks in combat, like a Thunderbolt spell, a Fireball spell, a Life Drain spell that lowers an adventurer’s Skill and Stamina stat, a Poisoned Dagger, and melee attacks with his Taloned Fists. If the Zagor Demon reaches critical health without dying, it will become Frenzied and thrash around violently.
• After beating the Zagor Demon, the adventurer must throw his body into the magic Heartfires to completely destroy him. If he’s not thrown into these flames, he will revive himself and slay the adventurer with his claws.

Magic Abilities

Immunities

• He cannot be harmed by non-magical means. Attacks like arrows do no damage to Zagor.
• Zagor is immune to the magic paralysis spell used by a genie
• He can see through the effects of invisibility-granting garments
• If an adventurer attempts to use offensive magic against the Zagor Demon, his reaction depends on if he has a higher Attack Strength than the opponent. If his stat is higher, his Magic Screen spell cancels the offensive spell and damages the adventurer.
• He’s immune to instant Death Spells
• A master thief’s flowing cloak allows the wearer to confuse enemies, lowering the hit rate of their attacks. However, Zagor sees through this technique and is unaffected by the distracting garment.
• If an adventurer uses a handheld catapult on Zagor, and Zagor has a higher Attack Strength stat, the projectile misses and the adventurer is injured

Combat-Related

• He’s capable of teleporting around the room as well as levitating
• If the player shoots an arrow at Zagor, he lifts a hand and halts in mid-flight, centimeters away from his chest
• Shoots a plume of blue flames from his hand
• Magically slows the adventurer as they climb up some stairs. As this happens, Zagor magically summons a mid-level, poisonous monster to duel the adventurer. Damage done by this creature is transferred to Zagor himself. This spell can be neutralized by an adventurer’s protective spell.
• He can form invisible barriers, useful for creating obstacles to knock flying adventurers from the air

Control Over Life

• While he initially appears as a withered, ancient man, he quickly assumes a younger form in opulent clothing when preparing to fight the player
• Right before his defeat in the fist book, Zagor cast a dark spell on himself called Raise Dead, preventing his spirit from fully dying
• Coming back from the dead was not a perfect process, and most of Zagor’s body is decomposing. He must have his minions claim body parts from living victims in order to replace his failing body, piece by piece.

Curses

• He uses a curse to raise deceased residents of Firetop Mountain as his Undead servants
• He’s cursed the land around Firetop Mountain. The once red rocks have turned black, and livestock who graze around the mountain die sickening deaths shortly afterwards.

Other Abilities

• He has a hypnotic gaze and his voice seems to come from the walls of the cave rather than his mouth
• If the player finds and uses an Invisibility Potion, Zagor can still sense their presence and track them through scent
• Zagor personally rigs a trap with a spell called Demon’s Breath. If the adventurer stands too close to a wall, a puff of gas is released that continually poisons them until they eat orc fleas.
• Zagor can draw his monsters from other planes of existence. This is how, upon his jump from Titan to Amarillia, Castle Argent is already full of his minions.
• When an adventurer opens a casket, Zagor casts a spell that further decomposes and animates the corpse within to attack the adventurer. This spell is performed over a great distance.
• He can sense when his name is uttered in Castle Argent and dispatch monsters to that location

Magic Artifacts

Zagor's Portrait

• The adventurer can come across Zagor’s painting in Firetop Mountain, a frightening portrait that lowers their Skill stat through intimidation
  • If the adventurer draws their sword against the artwork, the blade is telekinetically grabbed and dropped on them, wounding their face
  • If the adventurer draws a wooden stake against the artwork, their wrist is suddenly wracked with pain and they drop the weapon. They also lose one more Skill point before fleeing.
  • If the adventurer throws cheese at the painting, Zagor laughs at them
  • If the adventurer produces the jewel found in the Iron Cyclops, the painting is defeated and the adventurer receives two Skill points
• A different painting found in Castle Argent uses a telepathic attack to frighten an adventurer and lower their Luck stat

Elementals

• As a tradeoff of using the Raise Dead spell on himself, the powers that be placed brought Elementals to his lair in Firetop Mountain. These supernatural beings are the only thing that can truly harm Zagor and must be summoned by using a dragon’s tooth along with an awakening word. However, Zagor can also subjugate these forces under his rule after he gathers his own summoning artifacts.
• If at any point, the adventurer fails to produce the right dragon tooth during the duel with Zagor, then Zagor’s Elemental will pick them up and throw them at a wall, rendering them unconscious. If they fail to say the right magic word, they also be magically rendered unconscious by a telekinetic backlash.
• Upon encountering the adventurer, he first summons his Demonic Air Elemental with a yellow crystal and magic chants
• If his Air Elemental is defeated by the adventurer’s Earth Elemental, Zagor summons a Water Elemental
• If the Water Elemental is defeated by the adventurer’s Air Elemental, Zagor summons an Earth Elemental
• If the Earth Elemental is defeated by the adventurer’s Fire Elemental, Zagor will summon an identical Fire Elemental
• If the Fire Elemental is defeated by the adventurer’s Water Elemental, Zagor will finally get out of his throne and fight personally

Other Items

• Zagor has complete knowledge of the secrets of Firetop Mountain and controls all of the beasts within. This information has been collected in his spellbook.
• A silver earring is found on a Cave Troll. If the adventurer puts it on, it turns into a living earwig that attempts to enter the person’s ear and attack their brain. This Brainbiter is described as one of Zagor’s enchanted assassins.
• A silver necklace is found on a Goblin. Upon contact with human skin, it turns into a feral rat with poisonous bites. The charm is said to have been created by Zagor.
• Magic cards from his magic set offer a variety of positive and negative effects for those who manage to collect, on, including: one that turns into a magically terrifying face, one that lowers the holder’s Skill and Luck stats, a blank card, one that confers Stamina and Luck into the holder and one that can turn into a silver dagger that can weaken Zagor himself

Weaknesses

• A jewel found in an Iron Cyclops can easily kill Zagor. If the player can find and produce this item during the last battle, the Warlock is aged into dust.
• The adventurer can collect Golden Talismans in Castle Argent, which can reduce Zagor’s Skill stat

The famous baseballer, Jackie Robinson, he once said: “A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives.” I could not agree more. That is why I try to make as much impact on my faces’ lives as possible. After all, they have done so much for me. It is the least I can do. Unlike them, I need not fear what people think of me. So I can be brave where they are weak. For I will just be someone else tomorrow.

Born in Russia to the Grand Duke Nikolai Kravinoff, Dmitri Nikolaievich Smerdyakov was treated like trash by his noble father and his working class mother. Young Dmitri was approached one day by Gustav Fiers, who was impressed by the boy's impressions and paid for a trip to Karl Fiers academy. There, Dmitri would learn to master the arts of disguise, vocal impression and infiltration, becoming the Chameleon upon his graduation.
He'd move to America and use his talents to pull off high-scale burglary, working for any group that could afford his fee, including the Communist party, Hydra or the Green Goblin. His elicit activity brought him into conflict with the Hulk, Iron Man and most often Spider-Man, all of whom had to act with great caution when the Chameleon was in town. After all, which one of them could tell if that unassuming civilian or their own ally was preparing to stab them in the back?
Dmitri has some mental hangups over his time with the Kravinoffs. He’s managed to repress the memories and considered himself good friends with his half-brother Kraven. In reality, he was more like a whipping boy and slave to the Hunter, and when he has to wrestle with those feelings, he can mentally revert to that scared little boy with no strong sense of identity or independence. But when he’s able to move past these feelings, the Chameleon has proved himself as a powerful, manipulative force, finding his place as temporary Crime Master of New York and member of the Sinister Six.

Notes
During one of Dmitri’s mental breaks, he began to believe that he was his deceased half-brother, Kraven the Hunter. So exact was the Chameleon’s performance that he moved and fought with the hunter’s skill and agility. This was an extreme fringe case and there are no other examples of a disguise altering Chameleon's capabilities like this. Physical and skill-related feats from this period will be marked with [KH].

Realistic Masks

• Originally, the Chameleon employed realistic masks and hairpieces to disguise himself as individuals. He kept these pieces in a multi-pocketed vest, allowing him to alter his appearance on the fly
• After getting one quick glance at Thunderbolt Ross, the Chameleon is able to make a perfect mask of the general’s face in a matter of minutes
• When the Hulk is tearing the Chameleon’s car apart, he quickly changes into the guise of Rick Jones to calm the Hulk, then manipulate him into breaking a friend out of prison
• At one point, he used a gun that squirts fast-drying fluid, which kills victims via suffocation and leaves the Chameleon with a perfect mask of their face
• He once wore four masks layered on top of his plain, white one

Malleable Flesh

• He gets a procedure done to his body that makes his flesh completely malleable, changing in response to electrical stimuli. He also had a specially designed costume that reacted the same way to stimuli. The final piece was a control system built into a belt that could memorize and store any face that the Chameleon encountered. All of these pieces allowed the Chameleon to completely copy someone’s appearance and replicate it through thought alone.

• When working for the Superior Spider-Man’s team of “reformed” villains, the Superior Six, Chameleon used hologram tech to aid in his disguises. This let him appear as Loki, with his massive horns and Asgardian outfit being formed with the tech. It otherwise works more or less like his powers did.

Hello! I have a few questions. Me (Aussie citizen) and parter (UK on WHV in aus) are in the process of collecting our documents for 820 application.
Question 1: do stat decs need to be less than 6 weeks old when submitted in the application? - we have one from our old boss stating that we lived together in work accommodation but it’s from September 2023 signed by a local nurse and we are applying in September 2024- so it’s a year old. Is that okay, or does he need to do a new one just before we apply?
Question 2: how can we prove we live together other than just stat dec from company manageowner? - We both live on an island (in a couple room together) through work accommodation for over 12 months. We don’t pay bills only rent that comes out of our individual payslips. Due to the nature of the place we live, postal service was not available in the first 6months so we did not list it as our address and instead both got stuff sent to my parents house (which we could collect when we visited them). Once postal services commenced we got mail to the island again. Long story short- we’ve both received mail to the same address but to different addresses at different times that doesn’t match up with where we were living. I’m just worried this is confusing and I don’t know how to explain it to a case officer but we really need the mail as proof of shared residency. My drivers license and passport has my parents home address which doesn’t help either. How else can we prove we live together without lease or bills? I love our lifestyle but it’s not normal so much harder to prove
Question 3: did you write your statements (say for nature of household or commitment etc) on a stat dec? It doesn’t really have much room on the paper to write details? Do u type it directly into text box on the application or just all attachments formatted as a ‘presentation’ of sorts with photos and highlighting?
Question 4: can we apply for a double grant? Defacto start date 30 Jan 2023, so been living together for 20 months. I know the requirement is 3 years but it’s discretionary? Could we ask nicely in the cover letter? Or is that ridiculous

Given all the recent criticisms surrounding encore performances, it would be refreshing to highlight some of the best ones. In my opinion, certain encore performances truly deserve recognition. Here are some that have amazed me so far:

1. 240125 NMIXX "DASH" at MCOUNTDOWN but pretty much all NMIXX' performances are jawdropping. NMIXX reminds me of EXO in how they handle live performances.
   
2. 230418 IVE "I AM" at THE SHOW this proves everyone that IVE members aren't just a pretty face!
   
3. 200719 BLACKPINK "How You Like That" at Inkigayo this encore perfectly encapsulates how confident and strong BP vocals were. They seem so relaxed and having fun on stage.
   
4. 160623 EXO "Monster" at MCOUNTDOWN I mean, what can I say man. They're far better than studio recording.
   
5. 211016 aespa "Savage" at MusicCore they sound exactly like the recording!
   
6. 230730 Jung Kook "Seven" at Inkigayo Jung Kook's appeal when he's singing and dancing is truly exceptional. He deserves all the recognition he's receiving!

Which I've used to build family trees, ancestry history like finding marriage cert., birth cert., places, locations and things where u might have wanted to know where your parent, great grandparents and to basically know who and where your EXTENDED FAMILY are. What cities they lived in etc. I want to use the skills, sources and types of methods I use to make a profession from my ability that I value so much. If you have a relative that was in Vietnam War I can recover whereabouts during campaign there stories and possible photos that u don't even know exist. to talk with someone that might have fought side by side by ur loved one who didn't make it home but the person who was next to them might still be alive to tell about a or some memories with your family member in Vietnam. I can't see a single reason to invest stocks in Australia besides there being no currency exchange fees.
But that gets nullified by the huge growth U.S stocks have compared to Aus.
VAS has a 90% return rate in 15 years. VOO did almost the same in 5.
But besides stocks what else can you invest in Aus. Gold, property, voluntary contributions to super? Each with their own downsides.

so am building an app that sends about 5 local notifications to the user, at an irregular interval (the timings are internally calculated).
First i tried using Scheduled notifications from the package flutter_local_notification and it works quite smoothly, but from what i found there is no direct way that allows me to schedule all 5 notifications at once on the same channel or maybe like trigger a method when the notification is showed so i can reschedule the next notification.
Then i decided to try and use the WorkManager package and mix it with normal notifications from the flutter_local_notification package so i can call a logic that triggers the next notification time and so on, but am facing couple of problems, first the notification that i schedule using workmanager arent so consistent when i close the app, some times they work as intended, and other times it takes much longer than what it was scheduled, or simply only show when i reopen the app, which can be a bit problematic since i need the notifications to pop up on time.
ideally i would love to find a way to only use the flutter_local_notification package because it works quite smoothly and as intended, but it doesnt seem possible for now.
i think i found a somewhat decent solution, suggested by u/autognome in this post Schedule irregular Notifications combining scheduled notifications by the flutter_local_notification and background_fetch that uses headless function implementation that basically will awaken my app in the background about every 15 minutes, providing a short period of background running-time. which will execute the provided callback fun to reschedule the next notification.
finally if you have dealt with irregularly scheduled local notifications or just have a better solution or advice or would like to point our a mistake that i mentioned please go ahead, as i struggled to find a decent guide to do so and i want this to help people after me (and me) to basically not go through the maze i went through.
Ps: if anyone is having the same problem in the future and want some help, hit me up.

I work for a Fortune 500 company in what used to be a LCOL area, now MCOL and my area is gentrifying rapidly (bought my home in 2021 for $180k and anything comparable in the area is now $400k+, I say this because I would not be able to afford as much house as I have now in most desirable cities in the nation). I'm wanting to stay in my area for the time being due to family and having the golden handcuffs of a low interest rate mortgage, so I would like to pursue remote jobs.
The area is really lacking in competitive jobs as my company is really the only one that pays this much. Speaking to others that have moved up here would only give me a 10% raise, whereas new hires with 5 years experience start out at $120k+.
What can a 5 year experienced lab technician, with a B.S. in chemistry switch to in the remote job field? I've been given opportunities to lead projects on several occasions (its really not common for lab techs to receive this work but I have shown great ambition for it). Project Management seems like it would fit the bill for my experience and could be done remotely, but I would like more suggestions as I'm not sure how I could leverage only leading 4 projects in the past 2 years into a whole new job. And the R&D I currently do is incredibly niche and uncommon in the U.S.

TL/DR: fragile skin issue in new puppy. Doesn’t seem to be allergies to food as he came with cuts and scratches. Skin rips open from scratching.
Background: this is the 7th dog for my wife and I, and our 5th pit or pit mix. This is just our 2nd puppy.
Where I need help: we adopted a dog from a rescue. He was ~12 weeks old and found in the woods with his brother. Both had bad cuts on their bodies that required stitches/sutures/staples. Our guy had open wounds on his elbows. They assumed it was from another animal. The first week of ownership was great. The occasional accident and waking up at 5am comes with the territory. The next week he was playing with my resident pit mix as they had done many times. They got along great. She would let him win at tug of war with the rope and he even tried to nurse from her (she had littelitters before we adopted her). They were inseparable. Unfortunately she went to correct him when he took a bone from her and he got a cut under his eye. Lesson learned, no more high value items when both are out of their crates. The skin ripped open again a few days later after the vet said he would be fine with just a small mark on his face. 2nd ER vet visit in as many weeks was not fun but again, comes with the territory. A week goes by with him in a cone, he is sitting in my backyard with me while I’m gardening. I came back inside and noticed he had blood running down his shouldeback from a 1 inch long cut. The only time he left my side was to go underneath some hydrangea bushes and sniff around. 3rd visit to ER for more sutures. Cone comes off cuz face scar is healed. Next day he is scratching his ear, and then I see a 1/2” long cut on the ear with massive amounts of blood coming out. 4th ER visit and staples put in to close wound. We are going to call a dermatologist today to see jf we can test him for anything. Last night he was itching his shouldeback, and started to bleed again from the mystery 1” cut. Ignoring that we have spent $4k in under a month, we aren’t sure how to give him a quality of life. We have another pittie, 2 cats, 2 kids, and work/life. I’m paranoid if he corners a cat and gets a scratch, that will be the final straw for him. We think the elbow cuts (for him and his brother) are why they were dumped. We originally thought it was cuz his ears fold in, instead of outwards.
Anyone have any experience with skin popping open from scratching?

The signal that will be transfer to cable is u/3 MHz to 6 MHZ, in range of 150 uA. The width of the cable that I need to use should be as small as possible. Besides it needs to a have shielding on the cable cover. There should be at least 128 wires inside the cable. My question is can I find something similar to this cable? or I should make it myself?
