Sallie Winchester + The Little Mermaid in WAOLOM Eras Visuals
I forgot how the west was won…
How was the west won? With a shotgun…specifically, a Winchester rifle, Model 73, which is known as “The Gun that Won the West”. (yes, I am well aware the west was “won” via colonization, the massacre of indigenous peoples, the slaughter of animal/plant life, the enslavement of Africans, and the quasi-enslavement of Chinese and Asian peoples)
I am going to take you on a journey that is long, meandering, and hopefully loosely braided together by the end. We will be discussing the following topics: The Winchesters, The Winchester Mystery House, Spiritualism, and The Little Mermaid. This is not a fully formed theory, but I do believe it will serve as a building block for other theories that come along.

Sarah Winchester: Widow, Heiress, Mad Woman
Looking at the visuals for WAOLOM, I was struck by the similarities to the Winchester house and to the story of Sarah Winchester (Sarah Lockwood Pardee), known as Sallie. In 1862, Sallie married William Wirt Winchester, the heir to the Winchester Repeating Arms Company. In 1866, she gave birth to Annie, her daughter who died within a month of birth. Tragically, between the fall of 1880 and the spring of 1881, Sallie’s mother, father-in-law, and her husband died. In 1881, after her father-in-law and husband died within 3 months of one another, Sallie Winchester inherited the Winchester Repeating Arms Company. In 1884, one of Sallie’s sister died. In 1885, at the age of 46, Sallie moved to California from New Haven, CT.
In 1886, Sallie purchased a 2-story farmhouse outside of San Jose, California. This house would come to be known as the Llanda Villa during Sallie’s lifetime and later it would be dubbed The Winchester Mystery House. Immediately upon moving in, Sallie began to remodel the home. In 1888, Sallie’s favourite niece, Marion “Daisy” Merriman, moved in with her. For the remainder of Sallie Winchester’s life, her home was under construction – from 1886-1922. At the age of 83, Sallie died on 7 September, 1922.

The story I am about to share has many iterations - some are factual, some are embellished, some are entirely fabricated. The recurring theme is that Sallie is presented as a Mad Woman, a savant, or just a woman ahead of her time in every iteration.
As the story goes, Sallie was haunted by the tragedy her life had presented her with – a dead baby, an inability to have more children, and many familial deaths clustered together. After meeting with a Spiritualist, Sallie believed that she was cursed, hunted and haunted by the ghosts of those who had been murdered at the hands of Winchester legacy – the Winchester rifle, the gun that won the west. The Spiritualist (Adam Coons) informed Sallie that she needed to construct a house for the ghosts and that it must never be completed.
By 1895, locals had begun to discuss the strange woman who was building a home that seemingly never seemed to cease construction. Rumours started that she believed she would die if she ceased construction on the home. Organ music could be heard late at night. There were rumours that she had parties for spirits with gold serving wear and that she used the bell tower to summon the spirits. While the rumours abounded, there were instances of her those close to her refuting them, saying that Sallie was a very sensible and stable woman – she played the organ when she had insomnia, the belltower was used for workers, and there was never any gold serving wear.
The Winchester Mystery House is constructed of doors that go to nowhere, staircases that lead to nothing or end at a ceiling, doors that open to a deadly drop off, windows that go to nothing, trap doors in the floor, very shallow stairs, etc. These were rumoured to be traps for spirits, so they’d become confused and trapped, thus unable to haunt Sallie and her family. The counter to this is that the windows once went somewhere, but that they were closed off when the house was extended, that the shallow stairs were for Sallie’s declining health, etc. Was she a Mad Woman or an independent woman at a time when women weren’t allowed to be?

The Winchester 13
The Winchester Mystery House is known for the number 13 – 13 bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, 13 windows in certain rooms, etc. However, according to their website, most of these 13 related features were added after Sallie’s death. That said, the home is still deeply associated with the number 13.

What does all of this have to do with Taylor? I’m not entirely sure! But, I think there is a connection to her because of the imagery and the links to Mad Women, being trapped in houses with spirits haunting you, becoming a myth and a legend while still being alive and misunderstood. The name Sarah also stands out to me…Sarah was called Sallie, so it’s almost like an alter ego that you’ve forsaken, but will always be remembered as, is looking over your shoulder for the duration of your life and into the afterlife. ”Sarahs and Hannahs…”
By the end of the visuals, the house has expanded significantly...similar to the Winchester Mansion
WAOLOM Imagery
I think there is something about the tour imagery where we zoom into the attic window (attics of our mind) and into the silhouette, only to emerge in what feels like that person’s mind/inner world…and then we are pulled out even further to see Taylor in all of her feminine rage (the musical). If she is a spirit trapped inside of the house of her mind, then is what we are seeing the manifestation of her inner thoughts/fears/desires or is the woman in the attic the authentic self that has been locked away and what we are seeing on stage at the Eras tour is the performative self that was forced to lock away the authentic self because she’s an unaccepted Mad Woman?

Taking these thoughts further, the WAOLOM imagery we see progresses even further and encompasses The Little Mermaid. It’s simultaneously showing us that one version of Taylor is The Little Mermaid and one version of Taylor is The Sea Witch – she is both victim and villain, hero and anti-hero. Taylor has both given up her voice and is also wielding it with ferocious power and magic.

I don’t know the show Supernatural well enough to make significant connections to this, but I do find worthy of note:
  1. The entire trend of “Bi-Wife Energy” comes from the Supernatural fandom. It was about the actor who plays Castile, an Angel. The cute little song that went viral was created by a queer creator from that fandom.
  2. Dean and Castile were most likely gay and in love with one another, but were never allowed to be together because of how conservative the network (The CW) was. The actors have acknowledged this in retrospect.

It would also be remise to not mention the similarity of the figure and the house to the cover of Flowers in the Attic. I'm not sure what that means, although I lean towards the New Romantics/Mass Movement theory.

I just picked up a 1921 Production 1897 Winchester Solid Frame, it states it’s 2 3/4”. Do I need to be precautious with the ammo i shoot out of it? Do I need to get lower power loads? Any specific ammo to avoid? I’m not to familiar with shotguns in general so any help would be nice

Greetings,
I am in the market for a new gun but what to buy? I am not an enthusiast, just a guy that shoots with retiree buddies 6-10 times per year. We shoot sporting clays at a course about 1/2 hour from my home. I have done Trap a few times but find it rather boring compared to Sporting Clays. I have never shot Skeet.
I was using an OLD Antonio Zoli oveunder that was my uncles gun. The bottom barrel firing pin failed. When I took it to a gunsmith he noticed a bulge in the bottom barrel and recommended that I not fire the gun anymore. I pulled out my old Winchester 1400 semi-auto and shot the worst round ever. It was quite discouraging. So, I am looking for a replacement oveunder.
Basis I only do this a few times per year I am not looking to spend big money on a high end Italian. I'm not looking to go with a $400 cheap gun either. I am looking for something with an adjustable come and butt plate. Hello there, what are y’all loading for?
Just saying hi, new to the forum, not new to guns or handloading ammunition. Always curious to see what all people are loading for, and love talking about this stuff. I am a reloading junkie and plainly admit I enjoy handloading and tinkering with load development even more than shooting and hunting, I find cartridges interesting first, firearms second haha.
Currently load for my 243 win (savage 99), 257 weatherby magnum (weatherby vanguard s2 stainless), .270 win (savage 111), .30-30 (dads marlin 336) .300 win mag (savage 111 long range hunter model), .358 Norma magnum (Brno zg47), and the newest member of my family, the elephant gun, a .450 ackley (Winchester model 70 safari express super grade).
I have in the past loaded for .223 Remington, .220 swift, .308 Winchester, and 8x57 Mauser. Don’t have those guns anymore.
My next reloading adventure, Lord willing, will be getting into shotshell reloading which I have zero experience with. One day I’d also love to get into casting my own lead bullets, mainly for that big 450, the .30-30, and shotgun slugs.

While me and my father are having a talk about guns we drifted into the topic of my grandfathers(World War 2 veteran) shotgun that they use to hunt game back in the days. Got curious and tried to find it in the internet while asking my father about description regarding the shotgun. He said that it is a pump action type that loads 12 rounds capacity. From what he can recall he said that the shotgun is branded something "belgium" which I assumed the country it is made or a name closer to its brand since he cant recall it properly. When I tried searching for it and presenting him with similar images from the search query he said that a picture of a winchester model 12 closely resembles it.
Thank you for any answers, just want to know more whats its like in the old days and what guns my grandfather owned before.

Ok so I’ve been playing the game a lot on and off. I’m level 76 and I’ve done loads of missions, side quests, exploring etc. However I still find this game incredibly challenging and difficult in so many ways. I feel like a lot of it has never really ‘clicked’ with me and I just feel like Im kind of winging everything with luck rather than through power or skill. For example last night I was doing a mission at a radio tower and I could only manage it after dying and respawning 20 times because my weapons are so weak and stimpaks are so hard to find. So I have some questions.
How do I find good armour that actually gives me high level defence?
Does all equipment level cap at 45? I am level 76 and haven’t ever found anything higher than level 45. Somehow it’s all still shit and weak?
How do I find strong weapons that don’t take 30 shotgun shells to kill some basic enemies?
How do I get a good steady supply of stimpaks?
What should I be doing with my inventory to avoid having a full cache all the time? I feel I spend more time juggling my weight than anything else in this game. I have a tendency to hoard a lot of stuff, but I guess it all adds up.
Most of my storage is filled with materials for crafting equipment but I’m not a fan of base building - what am I missing by not building a big base? What should I do with all these crafting materials?
Is there an easy way to remember where merchants are? I know the train stations have one but for some reason I can’t sell certain things there?
What are some good schematics and where can I find them? I’ve found a shit load of plans and recipes and as far as I can tell they’ve all been completely useless.
What are some must do missions I might have missed? How do I get people to do Daily Ops with me as I recall that being a good supply of aid equipment?
Why do I only ever seem to find shotgun ammo? Is it because I’m using a shotgun? I don’t even want to use a shotgun but nothing else seems any good. It isn’t even a decent shotgun?
Why is this game such an uphill battle constantly?! 😫

1897 riot gun
Picked up a relatively good condition Winchester 1897 not too long ago but I hate the butt stock. Someone patched it with filler in spots and did an ok job staining and repairing it, but I just can't stand looking at it. Overall the gun is in good shape, its serial number dates it to 1916 and it's been cut down to 20" and rebeaded at some point in its life (looks well done not a hacksaw job). Id like to put an original stock back on it but am having a hell of a time finding one. Any idea where I can find furniture for this shotgun?

I’ve been reading up on the history of the old house; it’s the kind of place that ghosts run away from in terror. Grisly murders, curses, lunacy… Luckily, devil-worship makes me smile, so this is my idea of a paid vacation.
Orphaned at a young age, New Orleans local Edward Carnby found that he had a knack for investigation. After scraping enough money to establish his own private eye's office, although his job prospects weren't exactly extravagant. One such low-stakes job entailed the retrieval of a piano at Derceto Manor for one hundred fifty dollars. As it turned out, the price was much steeper, and Carnby was not Alone in the Dark. He managed to destroy a pirate's ghost and solve the mysterious suicide case of Jeremy Hartwood, earning the title of "The Supernatural Private Eye". In the years to come, he'd cement his status by solving his best friend's murder in Hell's Kitchen Estate, as well as the case of a missing film crew in Slaughter Gulch.

I was bored and started to think up some weird weapon ideas if you have some too throw them into the comments.
  1. This idea comes from people talking about pea shooters and .22lr American 180. So imagine a puny smg with a lot of ammo, pathetic recoil, and a really high RoF.
  2. An arc weapon that while like the arc thrower in the fact it shoots a bolt of electricity. This one varies because while the arc thrower of chain hits enemies this one instead explodes into a burst of electricity.
  3. A flamethrower shotgun that sort of acts like the melta gun from WH40k space marine 1. Just without the extreme armor penetration it shoots out a blast of flame with each shot.
  4. A minigun support weapon with an ammo pack because of course we should have that.
  5. A plasma shotgun that just shoots out a wave of plasma with each shot. This would be nice against armored targets, but would have low range requiring you get pretty close.
  6. A flamethrower pistol that is very much like the FLAM-24 Pyro from OG helldivers.
  7. A double barrel shotgun like the break action shotgun, but instead as a primary.
  8. Something like the M2016 Constitution from OG helldivers would be awesome come liberty day. It was a high power armor penetrating bolt or lever action rifle I can’t remember. (Liberty day is an in universe holiday that happens on the 26th of October)
  9. A silenced pistol maybe like the welrod or just a normal integrally suppressed pistol.
  10. A grenade that explodes with electricity outward hitting whatever it nearby it.
  11. A remote controlled “grenade” that does a lot of damage, but must be placed. Sort of like a brick of C4 or something like that.
  12. This idea takes from the punt gun and the idea is a giant breech loading shotgun that shoots a lot of pellets each shot. This should obviously be a support weapon and I would love if the 3rd person crosshair wasn’t there when using this thing.
  13. A lever action shotgun as a secondary kind of like the Winchester 1887.
  14. A pistol that acts like the laser pistol from fallout beside it having the heat system.
  15. A high power secondary like akin to the dominators or sluggers damage. It should maybe look like a big 3 cylinder revolver or a miniature dominator.

2024.05.09 00:12 VolcanicOctosquid20 The O.K. Corral Gunfight: What Tombstone Gets Wrong.

This is a list of every historical detail portrayed incorrectly by the movie Tombstone in their portrayal of the gunfight at the O.K. Corral. This is being done to educate people on what the actual showdown may have looked like. The list will not include film-wide historical errors, nor inconsistencies in the plot. They are only what is in the film's gunfight scene. They are separated by two categories. The first are the objective inaccuracies: what cannot be argued, due to reliable testimony or the coroner's report. The second are the less reliable inaccuracies: we don't know exactly what happened, but it most likely wasn't what was shown.

First, the objective errors.
  1. The Earps were not walking all together in a straight line. It was two-by-two, with Virgil and Wyatt in the front, and Doc and Morgan in the back.
  2. Doc Holliday should have been wearing a gray coat and hat, as opposed to black.
  3. The cowboys' wardrobe does not match the history. Frank and Tom McLaury were wearing buckskin pants, which was noted in the coroner's report. Tom McLaury’s wardrobe was recorded in the coroner’s report as a blue shirt, black vest, and a hat with a silver rimband. All of which were absent. Furthermore, the day was blustery and cold, so all of the cowboys should have been wearing dusters or some other coat.
  4. For some reason, the Earps round the corner of Fly’s Boarding House twice.
  5. At some point, one of the Earps said to Doc Holliday "Let them have it", to which Doc responded "Alright". They never did this in the film.
  6. Johnny Behan met them much earlier, when they rounded the street corner.
  7. Behan is shown ducking into Fly’s Photography Studio. That building was actually behind the vacant lot. The correct building should have been Fly’s Boarding House, which actually bordered the lot and was the true building Behan went into. Though, the exterior of the building matches the boarding house better than the small studio.
  8. The vacant lot should be about a third the size of the movie lot. There was no fence separating the lot from the O.K. Corral. As well, all the stable accouterments in the movie lot were not there, leaving the vacant lot exactly that: vacant.
  9. Fly's Boarding House is depicted accurately, but the building on the other side of the lot was a house owned by William Harwood. Whatever that building was in the movie, it didn't represent the way the small pre-manufactured cottage really looked.
  10. A couple of witnesses took refuge and watched the gunfight from Addie Bourland’s dress shop across the street, including Addie Bourland herself. But in the film, the building across the street is under construction.
  11. Tom McLaury is correctly shown with a horse, but Frank should have one as well.
  12. The bearded cowboy wearing blue is credited as Johnny Barnes, which is confirmed later. The real Barnes had nothing to do with the gunfight, and it causes the exclusion of Billy Claiborne, who was actually there.
  13. The Earps are seen walking forward up until the cowboys go for their guns. In reality, the Earps had stopped in their positions once they got to the lot.
  14. Doc Holliday did not advance on the cowboys on his own. He stayed out on the street with the shotgun. Likewise, he did not remove his duster once he had the shotgun out, or anytime during the gunfight.
  15. Virgil’s exact words were “Hold! I don’t mean that!” before the first shots, possibly (and probably) in an attempt to stop his brothers and Doc.
  16. The Earps are seen firing at Frank midway through the fight, who is still in the middle of the lot halfway through the battle, until he collapses again. By this point in the gunfight, Frank almost certainly was up and trying to get out of the vacant lot. He was seen leading his horse towards Fremont Street, where he would eventually die.
  17. Tom McLaury, after he was shot by Doc Holliday, ran to the end of the block until collapsing against a telegraph pole on the street corner. He is never seen running away in the film.
  18. The shot that hits Virgil hits him in the wrong leg.
  19. The angle of Morgan's wound is considerably off. The shot ripped across both of his shoulder blades, meaning that the shooter was to Morgan’s side. Billy in the film shoots Morgan from the front.
  20. Billy Clanton is shot far too many times. In reality, he was only hit twice in the final volley.
  21. Once Billy was gunned down in the film, he was basically down for the count. The truth can be stranger than fiction, as Billy really hit the wall of the Harwood House, landed in a sitting position, and just kept shooting until he ran out of ammo. He did not lose consciousness and die until well after the gunfight was over.
  22. The whole bit with Ike stealing a gun and shooting out the window? Yeah, none of that happened.
  23. Doc is seen wielding two revolvers in the film. He only brought one to the actual gunfight. He may have had a Derringer on him, but he never used it in the fight if he did.
  24. The confrontation between Frank and Doc should have been in the middle of the street, with the two of them much further away from each other. As well, Frank grazed Doc in the hip, causing him to exclaim, “I’m shot through!”. It isn’t shown in the film.
  25. Frank is seen bearing a wound to his shoulder in the film. In actuality, he only suffered two throughout the gunfight. He took Wyatt’s shot to the gut, and Morgan’s shot to the head.
  26. Speaking of that head wound, Morgan is seen shooting Frank in the forehead. The coroner found the wound below the right ear and passing through his head. However, as accurately portrayed, Frank died instantly.
  27. After Frank McLaury's death, Doc Holliday said "That sonofabitch has shot me, and I mean to kill him.", speaking of Frank. He does not do this in the film.
And now, things get muddy.
  1. No one really knows what the cowboys were doing in the vacant lot when the Earps arrived. Some believe they were waiting to ambush Doc Holliday, who lived in Fly's Boarding House. Others claim that they were simply trying to get out of town. Still others say the group couldn't decide what to do. Whatever their actions, they were not just dawdling in the lot. They were talking and/or preparing when the Earps came.
  2. According to the Earps, the cowboys were not all spread out in the lot, but were instead against the wall of the Harwood house. When the confrontation started, it was then that they moved away from the house.
  3. Also, Barnes/Claiborne are shown exiting as soon as the Earps arrive. Claiborne in actuality may have stayed up until the shooting started, but no one knows for sure. According to Johnny Behan, he grabbed Claibourne as he went into the boarding house, but again, we’re not sure what happened.
  4. This also causes the other cowboy who leaves early, which we can assume to be Wesley Fuller, to leave once the guns come out. In reality, Fuller was seen by the Earps, but left first.
  5. While nobody can entirely agree on where each Earp brother stood, it is agreed that Morgan should have been in Virgil’s place, on the west side of the group. Wyatt should have been close to or up against the boarding house for reasons we’ll get to in a little bit, and Doc should have been out on the street in the back of the group.
  6. The phrase Virgil utters to try and disarm the cowboys is accurate to Wyatt’s testimony, but the general consensus is that he said: “Throw up your hands. I want your guns.” , which corresponds to his own testimony.
  7. The cause of the gunfight was not Doc Holliday winking, but was actually Holliday cocking the shotgun. It was this that made the cowboys reach for their weapons.
  8. It is unclear if there was a moment where everyone hovered over their guns, but if there was, it didn’t take that long.
  9. Almost everyone’s gun is correct, but in the movie, Wyatt pulls out a long Colt called a Buntline Special. It is unknown if Wyatt ever really owned this gun, much less used it in the confrontation. In addition, he said he put the gun in his coat pocket, which would have been much harder to do with a longer weapon. He probably used a wood-handled Smith and Wesson 1869, the same model that Virgil had.
  10. The tradition of revolvers was to leave the hammer on an empty chamber in case the gun jostled, causing it to go off. Therefore, most of the participants should have only fired five shots out of their six-shooters, unless they threw an extra bullet in for the occasion. (My bets would be on Frank McLaury to do that.)
  11. The most reliable testimony from the gunfight, that of the Earp brothers, said that Wyatt and Billy fired the first two shots. This was corroborated by others, but we can't be sure.
  12. According to Wyatt's testimony, the film correctly shows Wyatt firing first and hitting Frank in the gut, but his and Billy Clanton’s shots were simultaneous. It took a moment for everyone else to start shooting.
  13. Wyatt testified that only four shots were fired before Ike Clanton ran to him. In those shots, Frank and Billy should each have been hit once, and no more.
  14. Morgan Earp is seen hitting Billy in the first volley, which would be correct. However, it most likely was the shot to Billy’s wrist, which would not have knocked him to the ground.
  15. The reason that Wyatt is placed next to the boarding house is because, according to his testimony, when he grappled with Ike Clanton, he threw him around the corner of the building. He also did this before saying “This fight has commenced. Go to fighting or get away.” Wyatt spoke those words while his revolver was in Ike’s face.
  16. Tom McLaury is shown with a revolver, like most adaptations of this event. However, the general consensus is that Tom was unarmed. He had checked his pistol into a hotel beforehand, as was custom, and no gun was found on his body. Most of the testimony that says Tom was armed was from the Earp brothers. However, due to the smoke, the chaotic movements, and the fact that Billy and Frank were shooting around him, it is inferred that a bullet from Frank or Billy was mistakenly believed to be from Tom.
  17. This changes the manner of his death. He is seen in the film firing his pistol until Doc scares his horse away with a shotgun blast, then using the remaining ammo to kill Tom. In reality, Tom was seen frantically trying to get a Winchester rifle out of the scabbard on the saddle when the horse either bucked or was nicked by a bullet. This caused Tom to be left open for Doc to blast him with both barrels.
  18. Billy Clanton is shown dying in a volley from Wyatt and Doc. No one knows if such a volley really happened or if the shots that killed him were isolated. However, Doc probably only contributed one or two shots, and Virgil was likely the other man to kill Billy.
Adennum: The history behind the second category's notes are less firm, but still more viable than what the film portrays. What is written above is informed by the sources. Many people have drawn different conclusions about what happened that day on October 26th, 1881, all from the same information. I recommend you read/watch up and do the same.

By the time the three of them made it into town, the gunshots had started. Alain drew his revolver the moment they entered town in anticipation of a fight, and was instead met by a chorus of far-off screams and rifle fire. Sable motioned for them to follow after her, and they did, all three sprinting farther into town.
They got there just in time to see the first reanimated corpses shambling down the street, moaning with their arms outstretched as they closed in on some of the townspeople. As Alain watched, a woman tripped and fell, and the undead were upon her in moments, fingers and jaws tearing at her flesh as she screamed. Alain didn't bother to wait – he began putting rounds into the corpses, trying to get them away from the woman, but his gun clicked empty before he was able to do any real damage. He could only watch in dismay as the unfortunate woman's throat was torn out.
"Aim for the head!" Sable reminded him over the sound of gunfire erupting throughout Los Banos. "That's the only way to stop them!"
Alain nodded as he began to reload his revolver. As he watched, the dead woman suddenly blinked, then began to rise to her feet among the other undead, her mouth open in a loud moan.
Sable suddenly dashed forward, and with a quick swing of her arm, separated the woman's head from her shoulders, putting her down instantly. Alain stared in shock for a moment, but it didn't last, as more corpses came shambling down the road, jaws gnashing with hunger. Alain closed the loading gate on his Colt and took aim, taking care to align the sights with the nearest head. When he pulled the trigger, the round made impact directly between the corpse's eyes, and the undead collapsed like a puppet with its strings cut.
Alain wasted no time in aiming at the next one, repeating his actions until his gun ran dry again. He paused to reload once more, nothing with dismay that the cartridge belt he had on was rapidly running out of ammunition.
"Az, Sable!" he called out as he stuffed rounds into his weapon's cylinder. "Take over for a second!"
Sable came dashing up, a surprised look on her face. Alain noted that she was covered in fluids and gore, but she didn't seem to care. "Where are you going?"
"I need more ammo and a new weapon," he said. "I'll only be a moment."
Sable nodded. "Just don't let those things scratch or bite you, and don't get any of their fluids on you. If that happens, you'll turn into one of them."
Alain's expression faltered. "Now you tell me… Alright, I'll be right back."
With that, he took off running, aiming for the inn he'd been staying at. He burst through the doors, marching past the terrified receptionist and heading for his room. A brief kick caused the locked door to buckle, and he stepped inside, retrieved the Ithaca double-barrel from its spot leaned against the wall, and after a quick check to make sure it was loaded, turned and headed for the streets outside once more.
"Might want to close up shop for the night," he said to the receptionist without looking back as he marched past.
He emerged onto the road, the gun already at his shoulder. A corpse took notice of him and began to approach, a low moan erupting from its throat and flecks of saliva falling from its mouth. Alain put a shell of buckshot directly into its head, bursting it like an overripe watermelon and showing the area with bits of skull and brains. The sight and smell of it made him gag, but he kept moving, looking for someone he could help.
As he rounded a corner, Alain came face-to-face with a small group of survivors, led by an older man wielding a Winchester lever-action rifle. The two men stared at each other for a moment, then Alain pushed past him to take out a corpse that was coming up from behind the group. The shotgun blast made his ears ring, and Alain grit his teeth at the pain and discomfort. He turned back towards the man as he broke the shotgun and thumbed in two fresh shells.
"Get these people somewhere safe," he said.
"Where is safety, exactly?" the man questioned.
There was a series of gunshots, followed by several screams. Alain winced. "Anywhere but here. Go!"
The man nodded, then beckoned for the survivors he was leading to follow after him. Alain watched as they fled into the inn he'd just left. The survivors closed and locked the door behind them, then began to move some furniture in front of the door. Alain's brow furrowed.
"Son of a bitch, I was going to head back there."
"Alain!"
Sable's voice from behind him nearly made him jump out of his skin. He fumbled one of the shotgun shells, but caught it and placed it in the gun's second chamber, then closed it and thumbed the hammers back. He couldn't help but glare at Sable as she stared at him.
"Don't sneak up on me like that when I'm armed," he warned.
"We need to move," she said, ignoring his comment.
Alain was about to ask why when another earthquake rocked the town. He stumbled, but managed to stay upright by leaning against a nearby building. The earthquake stopped almost as fast as it had come, and to his horror, the ground underneath his feet began to shift once more as even more corpses started to rise up. Without missing a beat, he nodded.
"Lead the way," he said as he watched several dead bodies begin to pull themselves out of the ground.
Sable took him by the hand, then began to pull him towards the first bit of sanctuary she could find, which ended up being Felix's saloon. At some point, Az joined them, the giant man's suit stained with gore the same way Sable's dress had been. Together, they pushed their way through the door, though they only made it about two steps inside before the sound of a rifle being cocked forced them to pause.
"Don't fucking move," Felix warned from his spot behind the bar.
"Are you serious?" Alain asked. "Do we look like one of them to you?"
"No, but this shit is suspicious as all hell. You three arrive in town, and weird stuff starts happening. You three get run out of town by the sheriff and his deputies, and weird shit stops happening. You three come back, and this starts happening. Sound like a coincidence to you?"
"We've been out there fighting those fucking things since making it back here," Alain pointed out. "If we had anything to do with this, do you really think we'd bother trying to do that?"
A noise outside the door caught their attention. Alain looked over his shoulder and found a small horde of undead pressed up against the door, scratching and pounding on it, trying to make their way through. Alain grimaced, then looked back to Felix, who was still aiming his rifle at them.
"Look, we don't have time to argue about any of this," he declared. "If you're going to shoot us, then just shoot us, already. Otherwise, we're ready to help fight these things off."
Felix hesitated, but then let out a sigh and lowered his rifle. Alain nodded appreciatively, then the three of them made their way deeper into the saloon. The four men from his poker game were here, though all four of them were obviously drunk, if their gentle swaying and the red in their faces was any indication – no doubt they'd be of minimal help in any fight they got into. Still, that hadn't stopped them from arming themselves and posting up near the windows. Alain noticed that they all had long guns – Felix must have broken his moratorium on them given the circumstances. Somehow, he wasn't surprised.
"Alright, give it to me straight," Felix said as they approached the bar. "What the fuck are those things, and how do we get rid of them?"
"Undead," Sable declared. "Corpses reanimated by a powerful ritual fueled by human sacrifice. Every earthquake is going to cause more of them to show up until we stop whoever completed the ritual."
Felix blinked, then turned to Alain. "What the hell is she talking about? None of that makes sense."
Alain stretched his arms out. "Look around you. Those are definitely walking corpses, and they're absolutely starving for flesh. Unless you think a bunch of people came out of nowhere, got dressed up like dead bodies, and started trying to eat the townspeople for the fun of it?"
"It's just… too far-fetched to even believe. I mean, rituals? Undead? What the hell is all this?"
"Well, you'd best start believing," Alain said. "You wanted to know how to stop these things? Remove the head, destroy the brain, or set them ablaze. Anything else, and they'll get right back up. Anyone they eat gets back up as one of them just a short while later. If you get bit or scratched by one, or otherwise get any of their fluids on you in the wrong area, you'll turn into one, too. Do I have that right, Sable?"
"That's correct," Sable said.
Felix turned towards her. "What would you know about it? I thought you had nothing to do with it."
"I don't," Sable declared.
"My lady, perhaps it would be best to fill him in," Az offered. "The Veil has already been irreparably broken in this town. One more violation won't hurt."
"I suppose you're right. I'll give you the short version, bartender – I am a vampire. My butler, Az, is not human. Alain is human, albeit a capable one. We came back because we discovered your mayor and his sheriff and deputies sacrificed those missing girls to fuel some kind of ritual. At the very least, the sheriff and his men have been turned into wights as a result; a wight is a type of undead, but with higher brain function than the ones currently breaking down the door to your bar."
Her statement was punctuated by an undead bashing against the door. Alain jumped at the sound of it; Az and Sable were unperturbed.
"So… Ansley and his men are in on it," Felix surmised. "I don't want to believe it, but given there's currently an army of the walking dead just outside my saloon, I don't really have a choice but to take it at face value. Those sons of bitches… where are they, anyway?"
"If I had to guess, they're in the mines, still working to complete more rituals," Sable answered. "To what end, I have no idea. But I think that's a fair assumption to make, given that the dead continue to rise."
"Then what do we do about it?"
"The only thing we can," Alain answered. "We head down into that mine and take them out."
"There is one minor issue with that plan," Az pointed out. "We are currently stuck in a bar, besieged by the undead. We will have to get through them first."
"Then that's what we'll do. I'm not becoming some fucking walking corpse's breakfast." Alain patted himself down, letting out a small curse in the process. "Felix, do you have any spare ammo? I need .45 caliber ammo and shotgun shells."
Felix nodded. "I've got some in the back. You'll have to use it sparingly, I'm afraid – I only have a few boxes of each."
"I'll make it last." Alain turned to Sable. "So, what's the plan for the moment?"
"We're going to have to find a way to break through the horde," Sable answered. "For now, I think we're going to have to hold here, however. Hopefully, we can find an opportunity to mount an offensive and head for the mines."
There was another bang on the front door, followed by the sound of splintering wood. Alain couldn't help but wince.
"Yeah," he said. "Hopefully."

2024.05.08 15:19 TheFuckinWeeb [FO4] Need help disabling bodyslide preset.

My game is crashing due to some issue with the bodyslide preset for the male body, I tried fixing it but to no avail and decided to disable the body mod , the mod for that was disabled but the in game character model was not reverted back to normal vanilla Fallout 4 body , Mod manager used is MO2, is there anything special needed to be done as the mod page does not specify anything about unistallation. The mod in question is Body, also how do I disable CBBE as well, having the same problem with that as well.

So I'm in the process of getting my first 12gauge shotgun. Winchester SXP extreme defender
And I have an idea of the basics of Shotgun ammo but still unaware which ones would be best suited for which situation I don't plan on using birdshot really
Mainly I understand buck and slugs
But what would be best to train with? Training with both buck and slugs or just one? And which are recommended brands for each type?
