2024.06.09 09:32 JustMakingForTOMT Body #1 – An Analysis of the Titanic’s “Other” Unknown Child (LONG POST)

**Trigger warning for in-depth discussion of the deaths and bodies of children*\*
Many of you probably know the story of the Unknown Child, or Body #4 – the body of a baby boy recovered from the sea shortly after the sinking of the Titanic and buried in Halifax’s Fairview Cemetery. Unidentified for years, he was speculated to be either Gosta Palsson or Eugene Rice, tentatively identified with DNA analysis as Eino Panula in 2002, and definitively identified through improved DNA testing in 2007 as Sidney Goodwin. The Unknown Child has come to represent all the young lives who were lost in the disaster.
However, much less well-known is the mystery of Body #1. Pulled from the icy Atlantic on April 21st 1912 by the cable ship Mackay Bennett, the body of an approximately 10-12-year-old boy was the first of 337 Titanic victims to be recovered. Officially, Body #1 was identified as Walter John van Billiard, a 9-year-old third-class boy who perished along with his father Austin and 10-year-old brother James William. He was buried next to his father, whose body was also recovered, in the Whitemarsh Union Cemetery of Zion Lutheran Church, Flourtown, Pennsylvania. However, doubt has always lingered among Titanic researchers and enthusiasts over the true identity of the body. In this post, I’ll examine the case for and against the body’s identification as Walter Van Billiard, investigate some other possibilities for its identity, and summarize my findings.
A few disclaimers: firstly, I’m not a professional, just someone who’s been interested in the Titanic (and specifically its child/teen passengers) for a long time.
Secondly, although I’ve never seen a detailed write-up on Body #1 before, others have discussed this topic and arrived at similar conclusions as mine, so I’m not breaking any entirely new ground here.
Finally, this post isn’t meant to disrespect or offend any of the Van Billiard family or to shatter the idea of a father and son resting beside each other. I’m just trying to take a critical look at the identification of Body #1 and suggest some alternate possibilities.
Approximately 115 Titanic passengers and crew under the age of 18 were lost, and very few of their bodies were ever found. In attempting to identify one of them, I hope to honour them all.

Part I: The Van Billiards

Walter and James van Billiard (photo here) were the two eldest sons of Austin Blyler van Billiard and Maude Murray. One or both boys had been born in Paris, France, but spent most of their lives in Africa, where the family was engaged in diamond mining. By April 1912, the Van Billiards had had four more children and wanted to return to Austin’s family in North Wales, Pennsylvania. They travelled to London, where Maude fell ill. It was decided that she would stay there with her parents and her four youngest children to recuperate, while Austin would take James and Walter ahead to America. Austin’s parents had never met any of their grandchildren before, and he wanted them to spend Easter together. Tragically, they booked third-class on the RMS Titanic, and the rest is history. No survivor accounts mention the Van Billiards by name, so it is unknown how they passed their time on the ship or how exactly they met their ends. A newspaper article (Daily Home News, April 23rd 1912) suggests the boys may have refused to leave their father, but it’s equally likely they simply arrived on deck too late to have the option of boarding a lifeboat.
What is known is that two bodies purported to be members of the Van Billiard family were later recovered and sent to Austin’s relatives in Pennsylvania for burial. Body #255, that of an approximately 40-year-old man with a dark red beard and moustache, was identified as Austin. Body #1, allegedly young Walter, was described as such:
No. 1 – MALE – ESTIMATED AGE. – 10-12. – HAIR. LIGHT.
CLOTHING – Overcoat, grey; one grey coat; one blue coat; grey woolen jersey; white shirt; grey knickers; black stockings; black boots
EFFECTS – Purse containing few Danish coins and ring; two handkerchiefs marked “A”.
Probably Third Class.
Furthermore, the “Inventory of the property found on the body of the late W. VanBilliard” adds that the purse also contained one United States cent and “three wooden disks.” This document can be viewed online at the Nova Scotia Archives website. Interestingly, “Unable to identify from clothing or effects” has been written across the middle of the page in pencil. Further down, it says “Remains shipped. See #255.”
Right off the bat, it's unclear why Body #1 was identified as that of 9-year-old Walter, as opposed to 10-year-old James – or, in fact, why a connection with the Van Billiards was made at all. The Philadelphia Inquirer of May 8th 1912, reporting on the arrival of the bodies in Pennsylvania, states that identification was made “through the Red Cross Society and papers found on their persons.” However, no such papers are mentioned among the effects found on either body, despite this being common practice for the descriptions of Titanic victims’ bodies.
It is also noteworthy that no member of the Van Billiard family was reported as having identified or even viewed the bodies. Identification would, of course, have taken place at Halifax, where the recovered bodies were brought before being buried there or forwarded elsewhere, and I could find absolutely nothing to suggest that any Van Billiard travelled to Halifax to view them. The North American newspaper of May 8th 1912 states quite clearly that Austin’s father, Burgess James van Billiard, was in Pennsylvania when the bodies arrived. Maude and the other children were still in England, and in fact would not make the trip to America until February 1913, almost a full year after the disaster.
Moreover, it must be remembered that none of the Van Billiard family members in America had ever seen their grandsons. They may have seen photographs of them, but this doesn’t necessarily mean that they’d be able to identify a body which had spent six days floating in the freezing ocean. There are stories from other maritime disasters of the era, such as the General Slocum (1904), the Eastland (1915), and the Princess Sophia (1918) of children’s bodies being misidentified (or dubiously identified), even by close relatives. Therefore, even if Burgess van Billiard or another family member had seen Body #1, would that have conclusively proven that it was Walter (or James)? Or would it simply be a case of a grief-stricken human being clinging to the belief that their loved one was one of the few recovered from an icy grave?
According to Judith Geller’s Titanic: Women and Children First, “popular reports” of the time stated that Austin’s body was found with Walter’s clasped to his chest. However, as she goes on to state, this was not the case. This can be seen plainly from the numbers of the bodies, which were assigned in the order that they were retrieved. Body #1 was recovered on April 21st, while Body #255 would not have been picked up until April 25th, according to the diary of Mackay Bennett crewman Clifford Crease. Therefore, identification of Body #1 cannot have been made by its proximity to Austin Van Billiard.
The effects found upon Body #1 also do nothing to prove, or even suggest, that the body was that of Walter Van Billiard. It is true that the handkerchiefs marked “A” could have belonged to Austin, but “A” could stand for many other names of those on board the Titanic. The Danish coins are a tantalizing clue, but none of the Van Billiard family was known to have lived in or visited Denmark. (Of course, it’s possible that the coins could have been misidentified – perhaps they were actually Belgian or Boer, as the Van Billiards lived in both the Belgian Congo and South Africa; or Dutch, as Austin Van Billiard is known to have visited Amsterdam shortly before embarking on the Titanic. (Perhaps the “A” handkerchief was a souvenir from the city?) However, these are only theories.)
It has never been conclusively accepted by Titanic researchers and enthusiasts that Body #1 is that of Walter Van Billiard. Walter’s entry on Encyclopedia Titanica contains the footnote: “Because of the effects recovered with the body there has to be some doubt over the authenticity of the identification.” Similarly, Women and Children First states that “the body might in fact have easily been that of another Third Class boy.” That book’s section on the Van Billiards ends with the somber observation that “a monument to [the] husband and two sons … stands in the Whitemarsh Union Cemetery, but only two (and perhaps one) of them lie beneath it.” Whether or not Walter van Billiard was truly Body #1, one hopes that this (mis?)identification brought some solace to his surviving family members.

Part II: Other Possibilities

With it being established that there is no conclusive proof that body #1 belonged to either of the Van Billiard boys, let us examine other possibilities. I have assembled a list of all male Titanic victims between the ages of 8 and 14 whose bodies were never found. The reason for extending this range is that the estimated ages given to bodies were not always entirely accurate. For example, the body of 12-year-old William Sage was estimated to be 14, the body of 16-year-old Rossmore Abbott was estimated as 22, and the body of 17-year-old Ernest Price was estimated as 26.
Our candidates are:
  1. Eugene Joseph Abbott, 13
  2. Filip Oscar Asplund, 13
  3. Clarence Gustaf Hugo Asplund, 9
  4. William Neal Thomas Ford, 14
  5. Charles Edward Goodwin, 14
  6. William Frederick Goodwin, 13
  7. Harold Victor Goodwin, 10
  8. Frederick William Hopkins, 14
  9. Husayn Mahmud Husayn Ibrahim, 11
  10. William Andrew Johnston, 8
  11. Albert Rice, 10
  12. George Rice, 8
  13. Betros Seman, 10
  14. Karl Thorsten Skoog, 11
  15. George Frederick Sweet, 14
  16. William Albert Watson, 14
A few possibilities can be easily excluded from this list:
Several more possibilities can be marked as unlikely, if not ruled out entirely:
Our list is thus reduced to:
  1. Eugene Joseph Abbott, 13
  2. Filip Oscar Asplund, 13
  3. Clarence Gustaf Hugo Asplund, 9
  4. William Neal Thomas Ford, 14
  5. William Andrew Johnston, 8
  6. Albert Rice, 10
  7. George Rice, 8
Now, let us look at each of these boys in turn and examine the evidence for and against them being Body #1.
Eugene Joseph Abbott:
William Neal Thomas Ford:
Little is known about Ford, an English youth emigrating to the USA with his extended family and a family friend. None of their bodies are known to have been recovered (although they may be among the unidentified). He has no known connection to the letter A or to the nation of Denmark. Therefore, I see him as among the most unlikely of these boys to be Body #1.
William Andrew Johnston:
William Johnston, a cousin of William Ford, is a slightly more likely candidate for two reasons. Firstly, his father’s name (and his own middle name) was Andrew, providing a connection to the letter A. Secondly, in the one photo of him provided by the Titanic Museum in Pigeon Forge,* he appears to have had light hair.
Albert and George Rice:
Filip and Clarence Asplund:
I believe the Asplund boys are the strongest possible candidates for body #1, due to the following evidence:
If I had to choose between the two Asplund boys for the true identity of body #1, I would suggest that it was 9½ year old Clarence, rather than 13-year-old Filip, due to the fact that those identifying the body clearly deemed it likely to belong to a 9-year-old. However, I think either boy is a likely option.

Part III: Conclusion

None of this is to say that I think the body couldn’t have been one of the Van Billiard boys. After all, there had to be *something* that caused Walter Van Billiard to be singled out amongst all the other possible candidates. Any of the clues I pointed out in this post may have been red herrings.
Maybe the “A” handkerchiefs were a parting gift from a friend whose first or last name started with that letter, or a souvenir of some city the boy had visited. Maybe the Danish coins were simply picked up off the deck, or given to this boy by a Danish passenger for whom he had done a favor. Maybe the age estimate was far off, and the boy was actually a tall 7-year-old or a very young-looking 15-year-old. Maybe Walter really is resting alongside his father in Union Cemetery, Flourtown, Pennsylvania. In the end, unless DNA analysis is ever done, we will never know the true identity of body #1.
My personal ranking of likelihood, out of all the boys examined, is:
  1. Clarence or Filip Asplund (in that order), aged 9 and 13
  2. Walter or James Van Billiard, aged 9 and 10
  3. Eugene Abbott, aged 13
  4. Albert or George Rice (in that order), aged 10 and 8
  5. William Andrew Johnston, aged 8
  6. William Neal Thomas Ford, aged 14
  7. Harold, William, or Charles Goodwin (in that order), aged 10, 13, and 14 – I might even bump Harold (and possibly William) up higher than William Ford due to their younger age.
  8. Frederick Hopkins or William Watson, aged 14
  9. George Frederick Sweet, aged 14 (almost 15)
  10. Husayn Ibrahim, aged 11, or Betros Seman, aged 10
  11. Anthony William Sage, aged 12 – borderline impossible as Will Sage’s ticket was found on body #67, meaning that was almost certainly him. Perhaps an onboard friend of his had stolen his ticket as a prank, or they had switched tickets to keep as mementoes of each other, but I find this quite unlikely.
  12. Karl Thorsten Skoog, aged 11 – impossible; his missing or prosthetic leg would certainly have been noted.
The true tragedy of Body #1 is the fact that there are so many possible candidates for its identification. In memory of all these boys and their families who were lost on the morning of April 15th 1912.
\I have some doubts about the veracity of some photographs from the Titanic Pigeon Forge Museum, but the vast majority of the photos I've seen from there are genuine. I can elaborate further in the comments if anyone is interested.)

2024.06.09 08:15 PearPublic7501 Andrew might be the true "The One You Shouldn’t Have Killed"

So, we all know about Fazbear Frights? Good, because remember "The Man in Room 1280”? It is proven that the man is actually William Afton. Now, he goes through nightmares, which I believe are what he is going through in hell during UCN… and who is in the book always near him… ANDREW! THAT LITTLE BRAT IN THE CROCODILE MASK! AND SCOTT SAID SOME STORIES FROM FAZBEAR FRIGHTS ARE CANON OR HAVE SLIGHTLY CANON PARTS TO THEM, SO ANDREW MIGHT BE THE TRUE ONE WILLIAM SHOULDN’T HAVE KILLED! (I also have a theory there are multiple one’s that William shouldn’t have killed (Andrew and Cassidy) because it is theorized that there are two souls in Golden Freddy but use singular pronouns. So maybe there are two vengeful spirits but use singular pronouns)

2024.06.09 05:18 PearPublic7501 Andrew Runaway actually could be canon.

With help from a fellow Reddit user, I have learned that in one of the pictures for the Into The Pit game, instead of seeing 5 bodies, we see 6. One theory suggests that one of the Shadow animatronics led Andrew out of a broken window to Freddy’s, where he witness the murder of the 5 kids. Then, William saw him and killed him, either burying him at that place with the mound in Midnight Motorists, or stuffing him inside Golden From day with Cassidy.

2024.06.08 19:40 loveirelandd Is Temple Bar Dublin a Cultural Quarter and Nightlife Hub?

Title: Is Temple Bar Dublin a Cultural Quarter and Nightlife Hub?
Temple Bar Dublin: A Cultural Quarter and Nightnightlife Hub
Temple Bar, nestled on the south bank of the River Liffey in central Dublin, Ireland, is a pulsating neighborhood that has undergone extensive transformation over centuries. Renowned as a cultural quarter, it's an essential spot for both tourists and locals, famed for its distinctive blend of historical charm, architectural beauty, and lively entertainment offerings.
Medieval Origins and Decline
Historically known as St. Andrews Parish, Temple Bar was a medieval suburb outside Dublin's city walls. Neglected in the 14th century due to frequent native Irish raids, it was deserted until the 17th century when the area saw redevelopment into gardens for affluent English families. The original River Liffey shoreline used to be farther inland, following what is now Essex Street, Temple Bar, and Fleet Street.
Marshy Land and Reclamation
Over time, the marshland adjacent to the River was enclosed and reclaimed, facilitating the construction of houses along the former river edge. This area remained unquayed until 1812, when Wellington Quay was established, transforming the house backyards into a new street frontage.
The Origin of Temple Bar
Bernard de Gomme's 1673 Map of Dublin marks the earliest record of 'Temple Bar' as a street, post-reclamation. The name likely originates from Sir William Temple, an early 17th century figure who established his residence and gardens in the area.
Sir William Temple's Legacy
Sir William Temple arrived in Ireland in 1599, serving as secretary to the Earl of Essex. Following Essex's execution, Temple largely withdrew from public life, ultimately becoming the provost of Trinity College until his death in 1627. His family continued to influence Irish society: his son John authored significant critiques of the 1641 Irish uprising, and his grandson, William Temple, became a notable English statesman.
Temple Bar Today
Present-day Temple Bar buzzes with activity, famous for its dynamic nightlife, cultural sites, and historic architectural features. Visitors flock here to enjoy everything from traditional Irish music in the local pubs to contemporary entertainment offerings. Iconic spots like the Temple Bar Pub add to the charm and allure of the district.
Top 7 Bars and Pubs in Dublin
For those looking to delve into Dublin’s pub scene, here are seven must-visit spots rated highly by patrons:
  • The Stag's Head Dublin
  • Temple Bar Dublin
  • The Brazenhead Dublin
  • Matt Molloy's, Bridge Street, Westport, Mayo
  • Michael Flannerys Traditional Irish Bar, Limerick
  • Hargadon's Bros. Sligo
  • Tigh Neachtain, Galway City
Conclusion
The historic and vibrant Temple Bar is a captivating hub that merges Dublin's rich past with its contemporary cultural tapestry. From its medieval roots to its status as a premier nightlife destination, Temple Bar offers an enriching experience for history buffs, architecture enthusiasts, and casual visitors alike, ensuring a memorable visit for anyone venturing into Dublin.

2024.06.08 19:33 bellart_ I've been thinking about Midnight Motorist and I have thoughts

(I'm putting Spoiler Warnings for things in the books (Trilogy, FF and TftPP) because some people haven't read them or seen summaries)
Ok, so, what theories do we have of MM/LTN?
  1. William is the Yellow Guy, runaway is C.C., Michael is on the couch. MM happens during C.C. nightmares
  2. William is the Yellow Guy, runaway is Michael, Mrs Afton is on the couch. MM happens after Charlie's murder
  3. Henry is the Yellow Guy, runaway is Sammy, Mrs Emily is on the couch. MM happens sometime after Charlie's death
  4. One of the missing children's parent is the Yellow Guy, runaway is one of the missing children, wife is on the couch. MM happens after MCI
  5. Random guy accused of being a murderer, runaway is a kid>! (Rory) tested on by William (nightmare gas)!<, wife is on the couch. MM happens after MCI
Let's first think, what's the YG like? He has a son, he's most likely verbally or even physically abusive toward him (I mean, the guy was going to break into his son's bedroom), goes to the bar often, has a purple car and lives in an isolated area.
We know nothing about the child besides being a boy, and also nothing about the person on the couch beside caring about the kid's mental health (most likely due to a recent traumatic event)
Let's analyze some of the theories at our disposal from least verifiable to the one with most evidence. The first one I'd say is the least likely is 3, that Henry is the Yellow Guy.
The proof is extremely speculative, that Henry's color is yellow due to being the opposite of purple, that he's a parallel to the Book Trilogy's Henry and how aggressive he was and uncaring towards Sammy. First thing: We never saw Sammy in the game continuity, and he might as well never show up. We know that he actually existed in the books and was taken away by Henry's wife after their divorce, but we never see him interacting with Sammy in the books, because he was too focused in bringing a certain someone back. Also, the "Later that Night" seems to be of importance to bring context to the story as a whole, so it clearly can't be the night of Charlie's death, since it's too soon, and there isn't another major event that would lead to this kind of behavior from Henry
Next theories that aren't likely, 1 and 2. "Why?" You may ask. First thing, we know that the Afton House is extremely close to Fredbear's and even Freddy's (From the Sister Location bunker with the maps and all of that.) The house in MM appears to be far away from the city or any other place for that matter.
People say that it's William due to the car being purple, and that him being yellow symbolizes his change, that this is him before starting his murder spree or because he's "hiding his true colors" (literally, lmao). Now, first thing: There are two instances of a purple car appearing in the franchise, this one and the one used by William to drive to Freddy's and murder Charlie. I understand where the comparison is coming from, however, William has been depicted as "Purple Guy" throughout the franchise. That's always been his color (except for Michael but that's more literal than William due to... y'know). In FNAF4, when we see a purple man putting a springlock suit on another guy, we clearly see that it's William. It's his motif throughout the series. FNAF2 he's purple, FNAF3 he's still purple, FNAF4 again, as I mentioned before.
There's also people saying he's yellow because of "Oh he wears the springlock suit and it's alluding to that" which also doesn't make sense. He's been associated with the color purple for too long (2014-2017, to be exact (maybe till HW but that's another conversation)) and to assign him a different color would be confusing in a game with indirect storytelling
Ok, so the other points of the theories. Aside from the whole "this clearly isn't the Afton House", C.C. being the runaway doesn't make sense since it's never pointed out that he's the one suffering from the nightmares in FNAF4, nowadays being, most likely, Michael>! or a kid being experimented on.!< And Michael showing care about his brother? Impossible at this point.
And now, Michael being the runaway. Many people believe that due to the pile of dirt most likely being the C.C.'s grave (in this theory, at least) and Michael keeps going back there, and that the footprints are the physical nightmare animatronics. Now, with new knowledge (and again, the house being different (I'm not letting this go lol)) we can clearly assume that Michael is in another house (not the Afton House)>! to be tested on!<, one that has a room with no windows and corridors on both sides. The MM house is clearly meant to be smaller than even the normal Afton House. And even that the nightmares aren't physically real and can't have footprints
Also, the theory that the pile of dirt is a grave is quite weird??? I mean, we saw the MCI's grave at the end of PizSim, including Charlie's in the background. Why would the Afton Family not bury their dead child respectfully? Why wouldn't they give him a tombstone? This pile of dirt clearly isn't a grave, but maybe something more sinister.
TL;DR for these past paragraphs: too many plotholes in the William = YG, Afton House and MM House aren't in the same place and are different from each other, reasons for C.C. or Michael to run away don't make sense.
Ok, so that leaves us with 4 and 5, and I'm torn between the two. You see, there's a video that pretty much convinced me that theories 1-3 don't make sense and that 4/5 are more likely
Warning: spoilers for the Fazbear Frights book 11th: Prankster, "Find Player Two!" story:
video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Chz7S7flWo&ab_channel=ZipperBomb from ZipperBomb
First thing, I think it's safe to say that William is the one that comes after the kid, especially when the UCN Toy Chica lines are associated with each child and each death (even if the animatronics aren't related to the kids)
And also: there's this line:
"I told him to come over later. That should be enough. And if he doesn't show up, I'll just go to his house! And if he doesn't open the door, I'll just find a window!"
Which can honestly be applied to this theory
So, with all the parallels the FF books gives us (and also TftPP), I'll give a quick summary to explain the two theories. Yes, what is said about them is speculation, but at the same time makes more sense than the loose proof fans give to the other three theories.
First thing: In the 11th Fazbear Frights book, the story "Find Player Two!", (summary of the story ahead) a girl called Aimee has a friend called Mary Jo, and when they were at Freddy's, they saw a weird man. Mary yelled at him, things ensued and, while they were playing in a maze, Aimee left Mary in the maze and ran away, never seeing her again. Years later, the same man is convicted for a kidnapping, but was released for good behavior. Aimee goes to his house to get a confession out of him, but the reason he was at Freddy's was to find his daughter, Jilly (but she wasn't killed, just taken by her mom after the divorce). Aimee doesn't accept this, attacks him with a taser and is locked in his bathroom while he calls the police. She later escapes with her car as rain starts pouring down. She goes to Freddy's to really find out what happened, finds her friend's corpse and is most likely killed by the same animatronic that killed the girl years ago
Now with all of that out of the way, starts the parallels! First thing, the man that's falsely accused of a kidnapping not only has a quite aggressive, but not murderous behavior towards his family and others, but also goes to the same place quite often (a bakery in the story -> a parallel to JR's). He also lives in a rural area far away from town in a mobile house (with me being addicted in comparing houses, this one's on me) that comes after a narrow road (as it is in the game). The cherry on top is his daughter Jilly, as he said:
"She always liked going to that place"
Which refers to Freddy's.
Comparing to MM:
"Ran off to that place again."
Same way of referring to a certain place, most likely being Freddy's again!
Other parallels would be the protagonist having to escape through a window and later, while driving like crazy in the road, it starts raining.
Ok, so, which theory is the most likely? 4? 5? I'd say that 5 is least likely due to the connection to Dittophobia, which released 6 years after PizSim. Yes, many things were cleared up by the books years later, but Dittophobia has a larger connection towards FNAF4 and SL than PizSim. Also, being a random kid when the other 2 kids (that the minigames focus on) are named and important to the lore, so why wouldn't the most mysterious one of all also be important? Why would he be a random kidnapped kid?
So, with all of these scrapping and thinking out of the way, theory 4: One of the missing children's parent is the Yellow Guy, runaway is one of the missing children, wife is on the couch. MM happens after MCI
Now, a lot of people assume that the boy is either Cassidy, since she's such an important figure, or one of the missing children aside from Susie. I'd say that if it were any of the missing children, the characters would say his name, yet it's kept hidden (aside from gender). And while Cassidy's gender at the time was discussed, since any other depiction or parallel was a boy, now it's been pretty much confirmed that Cassidy's a girl. So, who is it?
The thing is, I kind of tricked you with this one. Hear me out! With the recent theories showing up of Andrew and that there are actually 6 missing children, I've had this thought in my mind for quite a while. (Especially after the Into the Pit trailer)
(If you don't know, Andrew appears in the novels, the one that pretty much created the idea that Golden Freddy has two souls with the Stitchwraith storyline, and the whole UCN thing with The Man in Room 1280)
Ok, now, consider this: The MCI are 5 children that went missing at Freddy's, literally said by the newspapers, and it isn't 6 because the last one either didn't go missing at Freddy's, thus never counted, or was never assumed to be there like every other kid was.
So let's see how this goes. "Later that Night" would be about Andrew's dad. He was at Freddy's looking for his son when the MCI happened (throughout the entire day as the Toy Chica stories in UCN suggest), since he "always comes to this place". His suspicious, aggressive and insensitive behavior (when he found his kid there) eventually led to his arrest and they kept him in there for interrogation while Andrew went back home with his mom, and he most likely witnessed what happened. While his mom was busy watching TV, William came to either take Andrew back and finish him or to end him right there. Andrew ran away, but was caught up by William.
Now this part is where it diverts, because either Andrew was taken back to Freddy's, which is least likely as the place is surrounded by police; was tested on by William with the nightmare gas, being taken away, living a nightmare over and over only to die painfully; or, in this case, it explains Andrew being TOYSNHK: Andrew was killed by William there in the woods, and the pile of dirt is where William buried him. We know that, at this point, William wants to kill and hide his actions, then it makes sense for him to want to hide this body. Since there was nothing to possess, Andrew's spirit latched itself onto William (half possession or something like that) just like in the books. In the end, William went back to Freddy's to talk with the police. Andrew's dad was released and went back home fuming, blaming the boy for his temporary imprisonment. He goes to JR's to try to calm down, but the accusations made everyone suspicious of him, so the guard outside just told him to go home.
The mother told him to calm down, that the boy was already hurt, but he didn't care. He went around the house and found the broken window and the boy's footprints (most likely not seeing the animatronic footprints), assuming that he just ran away back to that place, only to never find him again, assuming he just ran away and is still out there, while he's under a reckless pile of dirt so near his house.
Also, an interesting video about Andrew being the TOYSNHK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DN9oZFeit2g&ab_channel=cheddadoodle from cheddadoodle
Now, I'm accepting the criticism that I gave to the Henry = YG theory, since it is quite hypocritical in my part. We haven't seen Andrew in the games, as he's from the novels. However, if you consider that TOYSNHK is a boy, Cassidy is a girl, and no one from the MCI appears to have that much hatred for William, it can be assumed that the MM is trying to call out an important character (for UCN). After all, Andrew is seen with a gator mask in the books, and guess who's also a gator amongst the FNAF characters? (aside from Monty of course). Old Man Consequences. No, not the Princess Quest one, but the one from both FNAF World and UCN. In the end, when you put him in 1 diff, you appear as, most likely, golden freddy going to talk to him, and he says:
"Leave the demon to his demons. Rest your own soul. There's nothing else"
Aside from being called Old Man Consequences, that's already alluding to his judge-like behavior, it appears that OMC's advice isn't for Cassidy to "stop torturing this guy", because once she does, UCN will end, so there isn't a "leaving William to his demons", as they'll cease to exist if Cassidy rests. However, if Andrew is TOYSNHK, this advice makes more sense, as Cassidy is actually trying to understand Andrew's hatred and all he can say to her is to rest, that William can no longer hurt anyone and that he'll make sure of that.
Also, it makes sense for all of the different animatronics to show up, even the nightmares, as it would be things both William and Andrew witnessed together, and wouldn't make sense for Cassidy to "conjure" as she died in the pizzeria and was, most likely, not tested on (tho the drawing in the "possessed" survival logbook do give her a slight idea of what happened).
So this is the theory! TL;DR for y'all: Andrew, who shows ups in the books, is likely the one who ran away from home due to being stalked by William after witnessing the horrors (and no one believed him). He was killed by William and buried in a remote clearing, that being the pile of dirt in MM. MM is about Andrew's dad being a suspect in the MCI and later being released and going straight home to blame his kid, who was assumed to have ran away. Andrew is likely TOYSNHK: having nothing to possess, he attached himself to William, saw all the horrors and after PizSim, created UCN to torture him forever. If it's still ongoing idk (i hope so)
I'd like some feedback! It's helpful, after all, and I'd love to hear some opinions :D
Remember, this is just a theory. I don't have the answer, just speculation!

2024.06.08 16:51 PearPublic7501 Did William kill any other kids besides the 5 MCI’s and 5 DCI’s?

I’ve heard from other sources that William could have possibly killed more than the 10 kids we see die in the FNaF games. Is this true? I know the Into The Pit game could have told us that AndrewMM is canon because in a teaser we saw 6 dead kids instead of 5, but are there any others?

2024.06.08 16:02 PearPublic7501 Andrew Runaway actually could be canon.

2024.06.08 02:33 Significant2300 These are the Presidents who saw combat.

Presidents who fought in or oversaw battles directly. There have been 31 Presidents who served in the military but only some have actually fought in battles.
Am I missing any? I am not including Hoover who by some is credited for fighting in the Boxer Rebellion in China, while he did help build barricades, that's not actual fighting or even overseeing a battle directly which is what I would like to keep this list to.
Or Ike, he never actually fought in any battles and never directly oversaw a battle either to my knowledge. Though he did oversee all allied forces.
George Washington, James Monroe, Andrew Jackson, William Henry Harrison, Zachary Taylor, Franklin Pierce, U.S. Grant, Rutherford B. Hayes, James Garfield, Benjamin Harrison, William McKinley Theodore Roosevelt, John F Kennedy, George HW Bush,
Feel free to correct me if I am wrong about any of these.
Edit: Some here have successfully pointed out those that I have missed already;
Harry S Truman, Gerald Ford, LBJ (disputed), James Madison
In consideration John Adams for his transatlantic voyage during the revolutionary war and nearly being killed several times.
Honest Abe for taking a bullet to the hat at Soldiers home, though this was likely an assassination attempt and not so much combat.

Following yet another offseason of cryptic tweets and drama, Stefon Diggs showed up from the onset of the 2023 season as red hot as the lasers he was catching off the arm of Josh Allen - making it clear he came to play and leave everything out on the field. However, 2023 was a tale of two Diggs’ - and that's not a reference to Stefon's brother, Trevon, who unfortunately was out for the season prior to their two teams facing off in week 15.
Through the first 6 games of the year, Stefon Diggs was averaging 8 catches, 104 Yards, and nearly a touchdown per game. During that time, the Bills passing offense funneled the ball through Diggs and relied on his ability to make plays all over the field to remain productive. Diggs answered the call and delivered the type of results we've come to expect of him, however just like the team itself, Diggs’ season would fall off pretty harshly following the team's week 6 match up against the Giants. In the 11 remaining games of the season, he failed to produce a single 100-yard outing and would only catch 3 more total touchdowns on the year. It's important to acknowledge that the Bills as a whole struggled offensively between weeks 5 and 10, directly leading to Offensive Coordinator Ken Dorsey's firing after Buffalo’s week 10, 24-22, loss to Denver - a game in which Diggs only caught 3 passes for a total of 34 yards.
Once Joe Brady stepped in as Interim Coordinator, the Bills offense began healing as a result of changes made to their strategy, changes which resulted in a more balanced attack that trusted the run game and prioritized spreading passes around to a wider selection of targets in the air. This shift meant Diggs was on the field less, in addition to receiving less targets when he was out there running routes. The impact of this change is most plainly obvious when comparing Diggs’ stats from weeks 1-8 to 9-16. While this adjustment ultimately worked out in Buffalo's favor (they would close out the last 7 games of the year with a 6-1 record), it did drive an unfortunate statistical drop for Diggs. Diggs would still flash his elite hands and skills often enough to finish the season respectively though, earning a spot in the pro-bowl as well as finishing #13 in total receiving yards and #7 in total receptions. Tragically, what he will probably be remembered most for this past year (at least in the minds of Bills Mafia) will be the ugly, game-altering drop he had late in the Divisional round matchup against Kansas City.
Throughout 2023 there were all manner of rumors on whether Diggs was playing through an undisclosed injury or experiencing a falling out with the organization, true or not, it would be foolish to claim that Diggs isn't still a premier pass catcher in the NFL. Now a Houston Texan, Stefon Diggs will serve as another weapon for C.J. Stroud to take advantage of in 2024. Assuming he doesn't destroy the culture in Houston by manifesting into some sort of target-hoovering diva-demon like all the tired sports media personalities predict, expect the former Bills Captain to be a key contributor for the Texans next year.

#99 - Lavonte David - Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Off-Ball Linebacker

After flirting with retirement and leaving Tampa Bay last offseason, Lavonte David stuck around for another year as a Buccaneer - year 12 (and soon to be year 13). And it paid off, yet again, as David stayed the impactful, complete LB he has been for over a decade.
Playing 956 (98%) defensive snaps, David was impactful across the board, recording 99 tackles (134 combined per pfr) with a 5.7% missed tackle rate, 4.5 sacks with 19 total pressures on only 76 pass rush opportunities, 5 forced incompletions and 1.1 yards per cover snap, and a ridiculous 61 run stops and 17 TFLs. His coverage stats took a bit of a dip from the past, but he was still solid while being incredibly impactful against the run. He's smart - see here how he diagnoses quickly, and beats the blocker to the spot before sticking the TE for a loss. He's exceptional at slithering through OLs - see here and here how he uses his speed and awareness to split through holes in the line and finish the play before it can start. Despite being 33, he's still really fast - if you're late on rotating in pass protection, he's already past you and sacking the QB. And he's always had a nose for the football.
David has been one of my favorite players of the 2010s and it will be sad to see him go. Few LBs are as complete as Lavonte has been for his career - he can do everything you want from an offball LB. Given that he's likely to retire pretty soon, this might be the last time he appears on this list, so I'm gonna break the rules a bit. Lavonte has always stood out statistically in two ways, by forcing fumbles and TFLs. As for FFs, the only LB with more is Cornelius Bennett, who was somewhat of a hybrid rushbacke4-3 OLB. Which means that among true off ball LBs, nobody has forced more fumbles than Lavonte David (tbf only tracked reliably since 1993). Similarly, I've never seen a player as adept at slicing through blockers to make a TFL. He has 160 career TFLs, 9th all time. No other offball LB is in the top 20, and only 4 other LBs have even 100. We might as well start giving out the "Lavonte David award" to whoever leads LBs in TFLs.
Put him in the HOF, cowards.

One word has followed Chubb throughout his career: Dynamic. Coming into his second year in a Dolphins jersey off a five-year, $110 million contract extension (recently restructured in the wake of injury)—Chubb managed to arguably elevate to higher levels of said dynamic play than even in previous seasons that saw him earn Pro Bowl recognition.
In 16 games this season, Chubb managed to thrive in a defense that utilized its front 7 in unconventional manners. Of the 837 snaps Chubb played: 36% of snaps against the rush, 57% against the pass, and 7% in pass coverage (top 20 in EDGE coverage snaps…over a dozen in the slot). Amongst his position, Chubb posted a top 10 pass rush win rate per ESPN along with top 15 pass rush and top 5 coverage grades per PFF respectively. This showed with 11 sacks, 73 total tackles, 44 hurries, and 6 forced fumbles (t-1st in NFL) over the season.
Chubb has an uphill battle going into the next season with a torn ACL acquired in Week 17 against the Ravens. Still in the prime of his career and a leader within the locker room, Chubb certainly seeks to return to this level of form as soon as possible. There's a lot of money on the table for him.

Offensive tackles have always been highly sought after for one important reason; to keep their franchise quarterback healthy. Miller had a slightly different objective; keep Jimmy Garoppolo handsome, it's fine if he misses the season since he was far from a franchise quarterback; but Miller excelled, allowing the least pressures (only 16 pressures per PFF, compared to 18 for Tyron Smith and Trent Williams) out of any premier tackle. While he missed a few games due to a shoulder injury, Miller put in enough work to prove he's a top 100 player in the league.
Always one of the more underappreciated OTs in the league, Miller's impact was best felt by his absence; in the first missed game of his career, Jets defenders got to Aidan O'Connell several times, and the rest of the offensive line just looked flimsy.
Combining agile, quick footwork with enough armpower to seal off some of the biggest men in the NFL, Miller quietly dominated opposing pass rushers, and #74 could even scale multiple levels on the run to help his team generate big plays. Even when it didn't seem like there was much worth fighting for, Miller never gave up hope.

#96 - Dion Dawkins - Buffalo Bills - Offensive Tackle

The shnowman cracks the top 100 this year after a dominating performance in the trenches all season long. While offensive line play can be hard to parse and judge, Dawkins ranked 4th in the league among OTs in pass rush win rate at 93% and only allowed 1 sack. The 30-year-old from New Jersey (famously the home of the Giants and Jets) also provided numerous rare O-line highlights, such as the absolute shnowplow of a block he delivered against the Cowboys’ Damone Clark. His arguably career-best season also saw him named to the Pro Bowl for the third straight year.
The Bills shook up their skill positions on offense this off-season, but the core of the offensive line remains largely the same, and Dawkins will certainly be a leader of the unit. This off-season he signed a 3-year, $60.5 million extension, making him one of the highest-paid offensive linemen in the league. He has played in at least 15 games each season of his career so far, and Buffalo is clearly banking on his production to continue as the rest of the offense takes a new shape.
This year, Dawkins was also Buffalo's nominee for the Walter Payton Man of the Year award, due in large part to his foundation Dion's Dreamers, which provides mentoring services to troubled youth. Dawkins has become highly involved in the Buffalo community since being drafted in the 2nd round in 2017.

#95 - James Cook - Buffalo Bills - Running Back

Being a running back in Josh Allen’s offense is a bit tricky. Allen is virtually a one-man offense, willing to not only sling the rock deep but also bruise out some yards on the ground for himself. For most of Allen’s tenure in Buffalo, Bills running backs haven’t been the most productive, failing to produce a single season with more than 1,100 scrimmage yards. When Buffalo selected James Cook in the 2nd round of the draft last year, they sought to give Allen a workhorse back that could efficiently eat touches and take the load off of Allen just a bit. After a timeshare in the first year, the Bills let Devin Singletary walk and gave Cook the lead back role, and he did not disappoint.
James Cook is a true modern running back. His lightning quick acceleration allows him to hit holes hard and bounce outside if they’re plugged. He’s not the biggest or strongest back, but he can still shrug off arm tackles and churn for extra yards. Pass catching out of the backfield is a key part of his game as well, for a running back he’s very proficient at route running, catching the ball in stride, and running after the catch. He does everything you want out of a running back in the 2020’s NFL, and he rewarded the Bills with the 6th most scrimmage yards in the league. He’ll have to do quite a bit to pass his brother in career stats, but this season was a great start.

#94 - Elgton Jenkins - Green Bay Packers - Offensive Guard

One of the most powerful and positionally versatile offensive linemen in the NFL, Elgton Jenkins’ value to, and dominance on, the Packers OL has more than earned him his place on this list. Elgton is the engine that makes the Packers' run game go. Whether it be trapping, wrapping, or pulling to lead, Elgton is the Packers’ most-pulled lineman and their best (and one of THE best in the league) elevator to the second level on inside zone and duo run plays. Finally able to hunker down and stay, more or less, in the same position for a full season, Elgton was the driving influence on the Packers finishing top 10 in yards per attempt and top half in overall rushing offense, even while being near the bottom of the NFL in called run plays. It has yet to be mentioned how great he was in pass protection this year, as well. With a younger QB who at times held the ball a bit too long, Elgton allowed 0 sacks and had one of the lowest pressure rates allowed in football.
As mentioned before, Elgton is a dominant player in the run game because of the power he executes his blocks. His main weakness throughout his career has been his feet and ability to play in space, but this year he was tasked with reaching, trapping, and pulling to lead more than ever before. And as demonstrated here, he excelled in that role. The Packers were at their best when Jenkins was tasked with doubling and elevating or climbing to the second level immediately. Here, he displaces the LOS, comes off the 3T, and gets to the backer to create a lane for the back to follow into the endzone. In this example, the player engaged with the LT does not cross the LT’s face, so he quickly climbs to backer and creates a cut back lane for the back to gain 6-7 yards. As you can see, much of what the Packers did in the run game centered around 74, and he delivered time and time again.
In the pass game, Elgton used his strong anchor and well-timed striking to shut down every interior defensive lineman he faced. 0 sacks allowed, an absurdly low 4.4% pressure rate allowed, and the sheer dominance he displayed on tape has led many experts to call him a top 3 pass protecting guard in all of football. This is probably his biggest area of growth once making it to the NFL, as he always had the power in his lower half, but has improved his base and hand placement to truly stonewall any bull rushes he faces. And if you try and get cute by swimming or, god forbid, knowing your beat and jumping to swat the ball. Well, you will probably end up on your ass. He rose to the highest levels of competition, repeatedly shutting down (three examples there) the likes of Aaron Donald on a game-by-game basis.
Overall, Elgton Jenkins continues to push the established elite at the guard position, and with continued technical improvement, he looks to rise even higher on this list next season.

#93 - Will Anderson Jr - Houston Texans - EDGE Rusher

Will Anderson. What a full grown manderson. Only a rookie, but already the most electric pass rusher we've had since JJ Watt. His early season stats didn't quite show it, but since week 1 he's performed at a high rate already producing one of the top pressure rates in the league and opening up opportunities for the rest of the banderson. In four months, people went from criticizing Demeco and Caserio for trading a supposedly massive draft haul to Arizona for Anderson to realizing the incredible positive impact that the trade had. All according to planderson.
In his first season, Anderson showcased great pass rush ability, always working his way into the pocket, stuffed the run effectively, and even blocked a field goal; WAJ Swat, amirite? In fact, Lil Jon is rumored to be working on a song called "Turn Down for Wanderson", Daniels music video and all. JJ Watt is one of the all-time greats, but are the Terminator-Megawatt comparisons valid? Can Area 51 stand on the same ground as the Milkman?
(Yes, those are all real nicknames.)
Anderson's rookie year compares nicely with JJ’s , both on stat sheets and the eye test, and both got even better as the year went on; WAJ also walked away with the DROY award (though he didn't have to compete with Von Miller and... Aldon Smith?) Will he follow the same trajectory as JJ? In fact, he doesn't need to. It's fine if he doesn't. We don't need the greatest defensive end of the century, because Will Anderson is already damn good, does his job, and is certain to improve even further. Maybe he'll end with a gold jacket in Canton, maybe he won't, but we don't need that. What expectations we do have of him, he's easily exceeding, and on his current trajectory -- whether JJ-like or not -- he'll continue to exceed them for a long, long, time.

Deebo Samuel's 2023 season saw him compile 1117 total yards and 12 total touchdowns in 15 games (though that 15 includes a weird injured decoy game with 0 targets, a game with 9 snaps, and a quarter in a meaningless week 18). The best metric to summarize the impact that he has on the team: the 49ers were 11-1 when Deebo played more than 33% of snaps in a game and 1-4 when he did not.
8.8 yards after the catch per reception ranked first among receivers, making this the fourth consecutive season that Deebo holds that distinction (and he was 2nd as a rookie). The ascension of Brandon Aiyuk and full season from offensive player of the year Christian McCaffrey shrunk the role of one of the league's most exciting players, but he made the most of the opportunities he got, ranking 8th in yards per target among players with 1000 yards.
The most memorable game of the year for him is undeniably his hat trick against the Eagles amidst a tense race for the 1 seed, capped off by a 46 yard all-YAC touchdown. Contrary to popular belief, this is actually not how he gets all of his touches. His longest touchdown of the season, a 54 yarder against Seattle, and one of his back shoulder TDs (a new feature off the offense this year!) put the wide in wide back to remind fans (and a couple loud players) that Deebo is more than capable of killing you on traditional routes.
This was the final season for #19 in the Bay Area (because he's changing his jersey number to 1) and he once again left it all out there, putting together enough production to clinch a spot on this list despite a diminished role.

Winners are remembered. The glory of sports comes from hoisting a trophy at the end, and everyone who touches it becomes immortal. To those who never touch it, they can still create a legacy through winning in other ways: big regular season games to get into the playoffs, and perhaps even winning a couple games in the tournament.
In this lens — losers have no space. Those who come up short get nothing. Sports are zero-sum. There are always winners and losers. Every immortality comes with a death.
Justin Simmons played 118 games with the Denver Broncos since 2016. In his rookie year, the team went 9-7 but missed the playoffs. In every subsequent season, the Broncos had a losing record. Despite his All-Pro play, Simmons never played in a meaningful football game in late December or January. In a team with a history of winning — Justin Simmons was a loser.
A ball on a memorial in 2021. Spending a weekend at charity events in the city months after getting cut. Maybe the problem is the binary. Pursuit of immortality driving everyone mad to the point of blindness. There is the trophy and that matters, but there are more things in life too. There are the connections. There are the emotions.
Justin Simmons never won a big game in Denver. He never played in one. But in 2023 — as he had done throughout his career — he proved himself worthy of immortality in the Ring high above.
