Age appropriate Lego ?
Did anyone out there know that there are some ( 🙄) Lego sets that have age restrictions ? Ofc you’d THINK it’s due to small pieces a child could possibly swallow, or perhaps difficulty level but ofc most “classic” Lego sets are 4+ years due to this exact reason (The larger blocks are rated 1+ years )
I picked up this set (first pic) off Kijiji last week and it took a queer friend to come over and point it out to me that this is essentially rated “adults only”.
I screen grabbed the other pics from the Lego online store. Yes the second photo comes with many of the same colours - but don’t you DARE build a rainbow out of it until you’re of age.
The Death Star is rated 14+ years (I’d assume due to difficulty ) So the question remains- how hard is it to assemble an 11 color , 346 piece puzzle?
Dont get me wrong , I love Lego for being inclusive , BUT I am curious what anyone else thinks about the age limit.

Pic 1: So I just started working on this recently. I’m calling it “The Darkest Tower” and it’s a base for a bunch of villains to work in. These aren’t going to be existing villains, but rather OCs. You’ve probably noticed the tall, orange line. That’s the height of the LEGO Eiffel Tower set, which I intend to make the tower taller than.
Pic 2: Swivel chairs for the receptionists. No evil office is good enough without them. There’s jumper plates for them to stay in place.
Pic 3: While existing villains don’t appear in this MOC, there’s plenty of references to them. In this picture, there’s 3: Syndrome, Doc Ock and Lord Business (the mug has an Octan print on it, which I know existed before The LEGO Movie, but given the context, I figured anyone who’s watched the movie will figure it out).
Pic 4: Some more references to villains. LEGO Harley Quinn and Joker (The LEGO Batman Movie) have statues, as will more villains. I’m moving them to the floor above, as I think they’d look better in a hallway than in the lobby.

Pic 6: I went through various іdeas, but I decіded to settle on 4 ropes to support a working elevator.
Pic 7: A winch to raise and lower the elevator. I plan on updating this so that, when let go, the elevator doesn’t fall to the ground. It’s only as I’m writing this that I realise the flaw, but I already have a solution, which is to change the 3-stud axle into a 3-stud pin (I’m not very good at explaining it tbh).
Pic 8: Spiral staircase leading to the floor above. There’s pieces at both the top and bottom to obstruct the stair movements (mostly). Also, the only finished lobby pillar. I figured normal bricks would be too fragile, so combining 2 axles, I was able to make sturdier pillars.
Pic 9: So is this MOC for play or display? Well, both! The lobby wall can be taken off using a technique that appears on the superior Sanctum Sanctorum LEGO set a few times. Use the security cameras below to take the wall off, then slіde it back into place when you want to close it up. I originally wanted to make the lobby separable from the floor above, but that would mess with the elevator mechanic. So, I settled for this technique.
Pic 10: I’m planning on having the wall for the above floor on the same sіde as Pic 9 to work as a door, which is why the plates directly below the windows on the fourth layer are actually flat tiles.
If finished, I’ll try my luck on LEGO Ideas.

So I recently got back into Lego however found that Lego is mad expensive for a uni grad now working so I started looking for alternatives and found this sub Reddit. Read the guides and thought Marstoy was the most logical choice. Placed the order in April 5th and they started shipping 24th then finally arrived May 18th. I ordered about a 100 figs a moc and the dune plane. Totaled about 230 USD including shipping. I’ll post some details about some issues about the Minifigs. Out of all of them 3 in total had some kind of issue or miss print but overall was worth though. (Last two pics were my favorite min). Plan is to make multiple scenes and Mocs with them and probably going to order another moc from them.
