Climate: The local climate is equatorial and characterised by the annual southwest (April to October) and northeast (October to February) monsoons. The temperature is moderated by the presence of the surrounding oceans. Humidity is usually high, and the average annual rainfall is 250 cm (98 in). The climates of the Peninsula and the East differ, as the climate on the peninsula is directly affected by wind from the mainland, as opposed to the more maritime weather of the East. Local climates can be divided into three regions, highland, lowland, and coastal.

Terrain: Much of Malaysia is coast or rainforest. Its land borders are defined in large part by geological features such as the Perlis River, the Golok River and the Pagalayan Canal, whilst some of the maritime boundaries are the subject of ongoing contention. The two parts of Malaysia, separated from each other by the South China Sea, share a largely similar landscape in that both Peninsular and East Malaysia feature coastal plains rising to hills and mountains. Peninsular Malaysia, containing 40 per cent of Malaysia's land area, extends 740 km (460 mi) from north to south, and its maximum width is 322 km (200 mi). It is divided between its east and west coasts by the Titiwangsa Mountains, rising to a peak elevation of 2,183 metres (7,162 ft) at Mount Korbu, part of a series of mountain ranges running down the centre of the peninsula. These mountains are heavily forested, and mainly composed of granite and other igneous rocks. Much of it has been eroded, creating a karst landscape. The range is the origin of some of Peninsular Malaysia's river systems. The coastal plains surrounding the peninsula reach a maximum width of 50 kilometres (31 mi), and the peninsula's coastline is nearly 1,931 km (1,200 mi) long, although harbours are only available on the western side. East Malaysia, on the island of Borneo, has a coastline of 2,607 km (1,620 mi). It is divided between coastal regions, hills and valleys, and a mountainous interior. The Crocker Range extends northwards from Sarawak, dividing the state of Sabah. It is the location of the 4,095 m (13,435 ft) high Mount Kinabalu, the tallest mountain in Malaysia. Mount Kinabalu is located in the Kinabalu National Park, which is protected as one of the four UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Malaysia. The highest mountain ranges form the border between Malaysia and Indonesia. Sarawak contains the Mulu Caves, the largest cave system in the world, in the Gunung Mulu National Park which is also a World Heritage Site. The largest river in Malaysia is the Rajang. Around these two halves of Malaysia are numerous islands, the largest of which is Banggi.

Wildlife of Malaysia: The wildlife of Malaysia is diverse, with Malaysia being a megadiverse country. Most of the country is covered in rainforest, which hosts a huge diversity of plant and animal species. There are approximately 361 mammal species, 694 bird species, 250 reptile species, and 150 frog species found in Malaysia. Its large marine territory also holds a great diversity of life, with the country's coastal waters comprising part of the Coral Triangle. Peninsular Malaysia holds four big cats: the Indochinese tiger, the Malayan tiger, the Indochinese leopard and also the clouded leopard. Another major predator is the sunbear. Large prey exists, such as the Sumatran rhinoceros, the Malayan tapir, mouse deer, barking deer, sambar deer, wild boar, and Bornean bearded pigs. Gaurs and Asian elephants can also be found. Lowland animals such as these also can be found at higher altitudes, along with animals specialised for mountain living, such as siamang gibbons, red squirrels, and lesser moon rat species. East Malaysia lacks the tigers of the Peninsula, leaving Sunda clouded leopards, sunbears, and Sunda otter civet as the primary predators. Borneo elephants are also found there, along with Bornean orangutans, Mueller's gibbons, macaques, proboscis monkeys, silvered leaf monkeys, langurs, and slow lorises. Marbled cats and leopard cats are smaller predators. Kinabalu ferret-badgers, Kinabalu black shrews, Hose's palm civets, and Brooke's tree squirrels are endemic to the mountains of Borneo. Other small mammals include mongooses and giant rats. 11,300 orangutans are found in East Malaysia. Other ape species include the white-handed gibbon and the siamang. Malaysia has 10 monkey species, divided between langurs and macaques. Proboscis monkeys, the world's largest monkey, are a langur species endemic to Borneo. Macaque species include the crab-eating macaque and the pig-tailed macaque. The Malayan tiger, a close relative of the Indochinese tiger, is endemic to the Malay peninsula with a remaining population of about 300 (250-340). Small cats such as the bay cat and various civet cats are also found. 1200 Asian elephants exist on the Peninsula, with another population existing in East Malaysia. The world's largest cattle species, the seladang, is found in Malaysia. Fruit bats are also found throughout the country, with a high concentration in the Mulu Caves. There are also the Malayan pit viper, king cobras, Dumeril's monitors, Malay water monitors, and estuarine crocodiles. The king cobra is the deadliest snake found, but it is rarely encountered. The reticulated python is said to grow up to 10 metres (33 ft) in length. Monitor lizards, almost 2 metres (7 ft) in length, are found in both halves of the country. They also have a ton of birds.

Environmental Issues: The national statistics showed that the state of some of the Malaysian environment is rather stressful. Urban air quality, river water quality, deforestation, costal reclamation, and endangered species are just a few of the issues in Malaysia.

Beliefs: The Malay are 0.1% Christian. That means out of their population of 14,098,000, there are roughly 14,098 believers. Thats about 1 believer for every 1000 unbeliever.
Islam was brought to Malaysia by Arabic and Indian traders many centuries ago, and the Malay people have come to embrace and ardently follow the Islamic faith. All Malay people are considered Islamic though levels of devotion to the religion are varied. Even those who half-heartedly follow Islam participate in the fasting month, and the Malay people of affluence will go on the pilgrimage to Mecca at least once if not many times during their lifetime.
The Malay have early roots in Hinduism and traces of this can still be seen in certain aspects of their culture such as weddings. For instance, the bride and groom will paint their hands with henna and will sit upon a platform for hours for the guests to admire.
Another divergence from Islam is the use of a bomoh (witchdoctor). Although Islam forbids the use of such a person, many Malay of Peninsular Malaysia will seek the services of a bomoh when they are experiencing a difficult situation or when they need some "magic." Also, they use bomohs for honorable or ignoble purposes. Furthermore, they consult bomohs in order to receive a blessing or a cure; or, on the other hand, in order to curse someone or get revenge.

History: There is no definite evidence which dates the first Indian voyages across the Bay of Bengal but conservative estimates place the earliest arrivals on Malay shores at least 2,000 years ago. The discovery of jetty remains, iron smelting sites, and a clay brick monument dating back to 110 CE in the Bujang Valley, shows that a maritime trading route with South Indian Tamil kingdoms was already established since the second century.
The growth of trade with India brought coastal people in much of maritime Southeast Asia into contact with the major religions of Hinduism and Buddhism. Throughout this area a most profound in influence has been exerted by India which seems to have introduced into it architecture, sculpture, writing, monarchy, religion, iron, cotton and a host of elements of higher culture. Indian religions, cultural traditions and Sanskrit began to spread across the land. Hindu temples were built in the Indian style, local kings began referring to themselves as "raja" and more desirable aspects of Indian government were adopted
The beginning of the Common Era saw the rise of Malay states in the coastal areas of the Sumatra and Malay Peninsula; Srivijaya, Nakhon Si Thammarat Kingdom, Gangga Negara, Langkasuka, Kedah, Pahang, the Melayu Kingdom and Chi Tu. Between the 7th and 13th centuries, many of these small, often prosperous peninsula and Sumatran maritime trading states, became part of the mandala of Srivijaya, a great confederation of city-states centred in Sumatra. Early during this period, the earliest known mention of the word "Malayu" was used in Chinese sources in 644 CE. Later in the mid-14th century, the word Malay was already recognized as a collective people sharing similar heritage, customs and language.
Srivijaya's influence spread over all the coastal areas of Sumatra and the Malay Peninsula, western Java and western Borneo, as well as the rest of the Malay Archipelago. Enjoying both Indian and Chinese patronage, its wealth was gained mostly through trade. At its height, the Old Malay language was used as its official language and became the lingua franca of the region, replacing Sanskrit, the language of Hinduism. The Srivijayan era is considered the golden age of Malay culture.
The glory of Srivijaya however began to wane after the series of raids by the Tamil Chola dynasty in the 11th century. After the fall of Srivijaya in 1025 CE, the Malayu kingdom of Jambi, Sumatra, became the most dominant Malay state of the region. By the end of the 13th century, the remnants of the Malay empire in Sumatra was finally destroyed by the Javanese invaders during the Pamalayu expedition (Pamalayu means "war against the Malays").
In 1299, through the support of the loyal servants of the empire, the Orang laut, a Malay prince of Palembang origin, Sang Nila Utama established the Kingdom of Singapura in Temasek. His dynasty ruled the island kingdom until the end of the 14th century, when the Malay polity once again faced the wrath of Javanese invaders. In 1400, his great-great-grandson, Parameswara, headed north and established the Malacca Sultanate. The new kingdom succeeded Srivijaya and inherited much of the royal and cultural traditions, including a large part of the territories of its predecessor.
In the north of the peninsula, the power vacuum left by the collapse of Srivijaya was filled by the growth of the kingdom of Tambralinga in the 12th century. Between the 13th to early 14th century, the kingdom succeeded to incorporate most of the Malay Peninsula under its mandala. The campaign led by Chandrabhanu Sridhamaraja (1230–1263) managed to capture Jaffna kingdom in Sri Lanka between 1247 and 1258. He was eventually defeated by the forces of the Pandyan dynasty from Tamil Nadu in 1263 and was killed by the brother of Emperor Sadayavarman Sundara Pandyan I. The invasion marked an unrivaled feature in the history of Southeast Asia, it was the only time there was an armed maritime expedition beyond the borders of the region.
The cultivation of Malay polity system also diffused beyond the proper Sumatran-Peninsular border during this era. The age avowed by exploration and migration of the Malays to establish kingdoms beyond the traditional Srivijayan realm. Several exemplification are the enthronement of a Tambralingan prince to reign the Lavo Kingdom in present-day Central Thailand, the foundation of Rajahnate of Cebu in the Visayas and the establishment of the Tanjungpura Kingdom in what is now West Kalimantan, Borneo. The expansion is also eminent as it shaped the ethnogenesis development of the related Acehnese and Banjar people and further spreading the Indian-influenced Malay ethos within the regional sphere.
The period of the 12th and 15th centuries saw the arrival of Islam and the rise of the great port-city of Malacca on the southwestern coast of the Malay Peninsula — two major developments that altered the course of Malay history.
The Islamic faith arrived on the shores of what are now the states of Kedah, Perak, Kelantan and Terengganu, from around the 12th century. The earliest archaeological evidence of Islam from the Malay Peninsula is the Terengganu Inscription Stone dating from the 14th century found in Terengganu state, Malaysia.
By the 15th century, the Malacca Sultanate, whose hegemony reached over much of the western Malay Archipelago, had become the centre of Islamisation in the east. As a Malaccan state religion, Islam brought many great transformation into the Malaccan society and culture, and It became the primary instrument in the evolution of a common Malay identity. The Malaccan era witnessed the close association of Islam with Malay society and how it developed into a definitive marker of Malay identity. Over time, this common Malay cultural idiom came to characterise much of the Malay Archipelago through the Malayisation process. The expansion of Malaccan influence through trade and Dawah brought with it together the Classical Malay language, the Islamic faith, and the Malay Muslim culture; the three core values of Kemelayuan ("Malayness").
In 1511, the Malaccan capital fell into the hands of Portuguese conquistadors. However, Malacca remained an institutional prototype: a paradigm of statecraft and a point of cultural reference for successor states such as Johor Sultanate (1528–present), Perak Sultanate (1528–present), Pahang Sultanate (1470–present), Siak Sri Indrapura Sultanate (1725–1946), Pelalawan Sultanate (1725–1946) and Riau-Lingga Sultanate (1824–1911).
Across the South China Sea in the 14th century, another Malay realm, the Bruneian Empire was on the rise to become the most powerful polity in Borneo. By the middle of the 15th century, Brunei entered into a close relationship with the Malacca Sultanate. The sultan married a Malaccan princess, adopted Islam as the court religion, and introduced an efficient administration modelled on Malacca. Brunei profited from trade with Malacca but gained even greater prosperity after the great Malay port was conquered by the Portuguese in 1511. It reached its golden age in the mid-16th century when it controlled land as far south as present day Kuching in Sarawak, north towards the Philippine Archipelago. The empire broadened its influence in Luzon by defeating Datu Gambang of the Kingdom of Tondo and by founding a satellite state, Kota Seludong in present-day Manila, setting up the Muslim Rajah, Rajah Sulaiman I as a vassal to the Sultanate of Brunei. Brunei also expanded its influence in Mindanao, Philippines when Sultan Bolkiah married Leila Macanai, the daughter of the Sultan of Sulu. However, states like the kingdom of Pangasinan, Rajahnate of Cebu and Kedatuan of Madja-as tried to resist Brunei's and Islam's spread into the Philippines. Brunei's fairly loose river based governmental presence in Borneo projected the process of Malayisation. Fine Malay Muslim cultures, including the language, dress and single-family dwelling were introduced to the natives primarily from ethnic Dayaks, drawing them into the Sultanate. Dayak chiefs were incorporated into the Malay hierarchy, being given the official titles of Datuk, Temenggong and Orang Kaya. In West Borneo, the development of such sultanates of Sarawak, Sambas, Sukadana and Landak tells a similar tale of recruitment among Dayak people.
Other significant Malay sultanates were the Kedah Sultanate (1136–present), Kelantan Sultanate (1411–present), Patani Sultanate (1516–1771), Reman Kingdom (1785–1909) and Legeh Kingdom (1755–1902) that dominated the northern part of the Malay Peninsula. Jambi Sultanate (1460–1907), Palembang Sultanate (1550–1823) and Indragiri Sultanate (1298–1945) controlled much of the southeastern shores of Sumatra. Deli Sultanate (1632–1946), Serdang Sultanate (1728–1948), Langkat Sultanate (1568–1948) and Asahan Sultanate (1630–1948) governed eastern Sumatra. While West Borneo observed the rise of Pontianak Sultanate (1771–1950), Mempawah Sultanate (1740–1950) and Matam Sultanate (1590–1948).
Between 1511 and 1984, numerous Malay kingdoms and sultanates fell under direct colonisation or became the protectorates of different foreign powers, from European colonial powers like Portuguese, Dutch and British, to regional powers like Aceh, Siam and Japan. In 1511, the Portuguese Empire captured the capital city of the Malacca Sultanate. The victorious Portuguese however, were unable to extend their political influence beyond the fort of Malacca. The Sultan maintained his overlordship on the lands outside Malacca and established the Johor Sultanate in 1528 to succeed Malacca. Portuguese Malacca faced several unsuccessful retaliation attacks by Johor until 1614, when the combined forces of Johor and the Dutch Empire, ousted the Portuguese from the peninsula. As per agreement with Johor in 1606, the Dutch later took control of Malacca.
Historically, Malay states of the peninsula had hostile relations with the Siamese. The Malacca Sultanate Itself fought two wars with the Siamese while the northern Malay states came intermittently under Siamese dominance for centuries. In 1771, the Kingdom of Siam under the new Chakri dynasty abolished the Patani Sultanate and later annexed a large part of Kedah Sultanate. Earlier, the Siamese under Ayutthaya Kingdom have had already absorbed Tambralinga and overrun the Singgora Sultanate in the 17th century. Between 1808 and 1813, the Siamese imposed a new administrative structure and created the semi-independent Malay kingdoms of Patani, Saiburi, Nongchik, Yaring, Yala, Reman and Rangae from Greater Patani and similarly obtained Rundung, Kupa, Tongkah, Terang while carving Setul, Langu, Perlis, Kubang Pasu from the Kedah Kingdom in 1839. In 1902, the Siamese stripped the political powers of all the 7 kingdoms of Patani following a planned revolt for independence against the central government. The coup de grâce was cultivated by 1906, when the Siamese redraw the border of the Patani territories and installed a new governance and administrative system.
In 1786, the island of Penang was leased to East India Company by Kedah Sultanate in exchange of military assistance against the Siamese. In 1819, the company also acquired Singapore from Johor Empire, later in 1824, Dutch Malacca from the Dutch, followed by Dindings from Perak by 1874 and finally Labuan from Brunei in 1886. All these trading posts officially known as Straits Settlements in 1826 and became the crown colony of British Empire in 1867. Additionally, the Straits Settlements would also encompass the Indian Ocean islands of Christmas Island and the Cocos Islands in 1886. British intervention in the affairs of Malay states was formalised in 1895, when Malay rulers accepted British Residents in administration, and the Federated Malay States was formed. In 1909, Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu and Perlis were handed over by Siam to the British. These states along with Johor, later became known as Unfederated Malay States. During the World War II, all these British possessions and protectorates that collectively known as British Malaya were occupied by the Empire of Japan.
The twilight of the vast Bruneian Empire began during the Castille War against the Spanish conquistadors who arrived in the Philippines from Mexico. The war resulted in the end of the empire's dominance in the present-day Philippine Archipelago. The decline further culminated in the 19th century, when the Sultanate lost most of its remaining territories in Borneo to the White Rajahs of Sarawak, North Borneo Chartered Company and its lower Borneo vassals to Dutch East India Company. Brunei was a British protectorate from 1888 to 1984.
Following the Anglo-Dutch Treaty of 1824 which divided the Malay Archipelago into a British zone in the north and a Dutch zone in the south, all Malay sultanates in Sumatra and Southern Borneo became part of the Dutch East Indies. Though some of Malay sultans maintain their power under Dutch control, some were abolished by the Dutch government under the accusation of retaliation against the colonial rule, like the case of Palembang Sultanate in 1823, Jambi Sultanate in 1906 and Riau Sultanate in 1911.
In the late 19th century, Germany was aiming to gain a foothold in the Malay Peninsula. They have made a repeated request to Siam on acquiring Langkawi as a naval base, with a possible expansion to the islands of Butong and Teretak since 1899. The plan was largely derived under the scheme of the German Grand Admiral, Alfred von Tirpitz who envisioned Langkawi as a vital-base for Berlin's worldwide submarine cable network. Langkawi was perceived to be ideal, due to its deep natural harbour and a suitable geographical location, between the German Kiautschou Bay in China and its colonies in the Pacific on one side, and German East Africa on the other. The island is also desired as it can act as a point of assembly and restocking for its warship during the times of war. A foothold in Langkawi would also guaranteed a further commercial interest to German private investors to cater the needs of port, a coaling station and the future naval base.
In October 1899, Behn, Meyer & Co acting on behalf of the German colonial government approached the Rajah Muda (Crown Prince) of Kedah to lease the island for 50 years with the sum of 60,000 dollars, as the sultan was ill and unable to attend the meeting. By November 1899, the "Deutsche Uebersee-Gesellschaft" (German Overseas Association) was formed by the German trading and shipping company in order to provide loan amounting to 1,000,000 marks to the sultanate. Nonetheless, the plan has come to a major halt, as the application was dismissed by the Kingdom of Siam. The dismissal was largely derived from the Secret Siamese Treaty of 1897, that has required the consent of the British in order for Siam to lease its territory. The crown prince of Kedah was later summoned to Bangkok by Prince Damrong and was warned not to release any concession to other foreign powers without the agreement of Siam.
A further bid by German was allegedly occurred in 1900, when Germany was purported to have approached the Sultan of Trang & Palien on the possibility of acquiring Pulau Lontar, an island located north of Langkawi. Although this report was dismissed by Prince Dewawongse of Siam
The prospect of a German annexation of the northern peninsula and the potential of its involvement for a commercial canal or railway network across the Isthmus of Kra, posed a serious threat to the British economic interest and political dominance in the region. Severely alarmed, the British and the Siamese entered the Anglo-Siamese Treaty of 1909, partitioning the peninsula between the British and the Siamese jurisdiction.
The Anglo-Siamese Treaty attested that the Siamese to control the upper portion of the peninsular while the lower region was to be held under the British dominance. The British originally planned for the inclusion of Reman, Legeh and Setul under their dominion together with a cluster of northern Malay states. Nonetheless, they only managed to secure Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu and Perlis under the agreement. The treaty also witnessed the state of Kedah being reduced the most, with Tarutao, Butang islands groups, Sendawa, Langgu and the principality of Setul were all being divorced into the Siamese hands, a similar fate was also followed in northeastern coast of Kelantan that was demanded to renounced their right on the Tabal district, including Sungai Golok and Sungai Padi; while Perlis lost its Pujoh district. Then-British controlled Federated Malay State of Perak however, saw an enlargement of their land area, with southern territories of Reman being transferred into the state and additionally Kelantan received Jeli from Legeh (which had been under Siamese jurisdiction since 1902). The Siamese then abdicated Tunku Baharuddin, the King of Setul, the sole Malay kingdom remained under Siamese territory in 1916. The treaty nonetheless, manage to seal the fate of the Malay states of Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu and Perlis to retain a degree of their sovereign powers under the British colonial government, a legacy that can be witnessed today in the Malaysian administrative system.
Later during the Japanese occupation of the Dutch East Indies, British Malaya and Borneo, the Japanese maintained a favourable relationship with the Sultans and other Malay leaders, this is partially composed to foster the trust of the Malay public that was generally loyal towards the sultan. Nonetheless, in a series of massacres known as Pontianak incidents, the Japanese assassinated virtually all of the West Kalimantan Malay sultans, including a large numbers of Malay intelligentsias after they have been falsely accused of planning an uprising and coup d'etat against the Japanese. It was believed that West Kalimantan took two generations to recover from the near-total collapse of the Malay ruling class in the territory.
The earliest and most influential instruments of Malay national awakening were the periodicals which politicised the position of the Malays in the face of colonialism and alien immigration of non-Malays. In spite of repressions imposed by the British colonial government, there were no less than 147 journals and newspapers published in Malaya between 1876 and 1941. Among notable periodicals were Al-Imam (1906), Pengasuh (1920), Majlis (1935) and Utusan Melayu (1939). The rise of Malay nationalism was largely mobilised by three nationalist factions — the radicals distinguishable into the Malay left and the Islamic group which were both opposed to the conservative elites.
The Malay and Malayness has been the fundamental basis for Malay ideology and Malay nationalism in Malaysia. All three Malay nationalist factions believed in the idea of a Bangsa Melayu ('Malay Nation') and the position of Malay language, but disagreed over the role of Islam and Malay rulers. The conservatives supported Malay language, Islam and Malay monarchy as constituting the key pillars of Malayness, but within a secular state that restricted the political role of Islam. The leftists concurred with the secular state but wanted to end feudalism, whereas the Islamic group favoured ending royalty but sought a much larger role of Islam.
Since the foundation of the Republic of Indonesia as a unitary state in 1950, all traditional Malay monarchies in Indonesia were abolished, and the Sultans positions reduced to titular heads or pretenders. The violent demise of the sultanates of Deli, Langkat, Serdang, Asahan and other Malay principalities in East Sumatra during the "Social revolution" of 1946 orchestrated by the Communist Party of Indonesia, drastically influenced their Malayan counterparts and politically motivating them against the PKMM's ideal of Greater Indonesia and the Islamists' vision of Islamic Republic.
In March 1946, UMNO emerged with the full support of the Malay sultans from the Conference of Rulers. The new movement forged a close political link between rulers and subjects never before achieved. It generated an excited Malay public opinion which, together with the surprising political apathy of the non-Malays, led to Britain's abandonment of the radical Malayan Union plan. By July, UMNO succeeded in obtaining an agreement with the British to begin negotiations for a new constitution. Negotiations continued from August to November, between British officials on the one hand, and the Sultans' representatives and UMNO and the other.
Two years later the semi independent Federation of Malaya was born. The new constitutional arrangement largely reverted to the basic pattern of pre-war colonial rule and built on the supremacy of the individual Malay states. Malay rights and privileges were safeguarded. The traditional Malay rulers thus retained their prerogatives, while their English-educated descendants came to occupy positions of authority at the centre, which was being progressively decolonised. In August 1957, the Federation of Malaya, the West's last major dependency in Southeast Asia, attained independence in a peaceful transfer of power. The federation was reconstituted as Malaysia with the addition in 1963 of Singapore (separated in 1965), Sabah and Sarawak.

Culture: Typical qualification that all people groups can't be summed up in small paragraphs and this is an over generalization.
The Malay of Peninusular Malaysia are seen in many levels of society. There are urban Malay who are well educated and hold white collar or government positions, and there are rural Malay who may or may not pursue higher learning and typically occupy jobs such as farming, trading, and fishing. While rural Malay men often wear traditional dress such as a cloth wrap-around skirt, urban Malay men tend to blend into a western setting with their blue jeans, cell phones, and Polo shirts.
While many Malay are now building modern homes, there are still numerous traditional homes within the kampung or village in which Malay people reside. Traditional homes are large in order to have sufficient space for the extended family as custom allows for many generations to reside under one roof. Although the Malay society has undergone a number of social and political changes through education and urbanization, their value orientation is still very much influenced by community. The Malay are a very social people and dependence upon community is considered normal and healthy. Often families will live within close proximity to one another so that help from relatives is easily attained. Kenduri (or party) is a social occasion for an entire community. The Malay women will assist to the hosting home with the cooking and preparations.

Cuisine: Different Malay regions are all known for their unique or signature dishes—Pattani, Terengganu and Kelantan for their nasi dagang, nasi kerabu and keropok lekor; Pahang and Perak for its durian-based cuisine, gulai tempoyak; Kedah and Penang for their northern-style asam laksa and rojak; Satun and Perlis for its bunga kuda dessert; Negeri Sembilan for its lemak-based dishes; Malacca for their spicy cincalok; Singapore for their rojak bandung and roti prata; Riau for its ikan patin (Pangasius fish) dishes, gulai ikan patin and asam pedas ikan patin; Riau Islands for their sup ikan; Deli Malays of North Sumatra for their nasi goreng teri medan and gulai ketam; Jambi for its ikan mas panggang and tempoyak; Palembangese Malays of South Sumatra for their pempek, mi celor and nasi minyak; Bangka Belitung for its siput gonggong and terang bulan; West Kalimantan and Sarawak for its bubur pedas and ayam pansuh; Brunei for their nasi katok and unique ambuyat dish; and Cape Malays of South Africa for its bobotie, boeber and koe'sister. The main characteristic in traditional Malay cuisine is undoubtedly the generous use of spices. The coconut milk is also important in giving the Malay dishes their rich, creamy character. The other foundation is belacan (shrimp paste), which is used as a base for sambal, a rich sauce or condiment made from belacan, chillies, onions and garlic. Malay cooking also makes plentiful use of lemongrass and galangal.

• Pray for our nation (the United States), that we Christians can learn to come alongside our hurting brothers and sisters and learn to carry one another's burdens in a more Christlike manner than we have done historically.

Ich heiße Lenika und komme aus Deutschland. Nachdem ich lange in Korea gelebt habe, fühle ich mich seit meiner Rückkehr nach Deutschland sehr unwohl. Ich sage scherzhaft, dass ich mich manchmal über Korea ärgere. Das liegt daran, dass ich meinen ersten Job in Korea hatte und daher eine koreanische Seite an mir habe, im Gegensatz zu Deutschen, die nur zum Reisen oder zum Lernen der Sprache nach Korea kommen. Nachdem ich lange Zeit in Korea gelebt hatte, wurde ich allmählich immer nostalgischer für mein Heimatland und traf schließlich die Entscheidung, in mein Heimatland zurückzukehren, aber jetzt bin ich in einer Situation, in der ich das Gefühl habe, dass ich zurückkehren möchte.
Es gab eine Zeit, vor etwa 10 Jahren, als K-Pop noch nicht zum Mainstream gehörte und ich meine Liebe zu K-Pop verstecken musste. Heutzutage wird man nicht mehr wie ein Spinner behandelt, wenn man K-Pop mag, aber damals war das der Fall. Ich habe K-Pop schon immer geliebt, und das hat mein Interesse an Korea geweckt, also habe ich natürlich angefangen, Koreanisch zu lernen, und schließlich meine Eltern davon überzeugt, mich zu einem Sprachkurs nach Korea zu bringen, anstatt einen Arbeitsurlaub in Australien zu machen.
Ich verliebte mich in Korea, und es gab eine Zeit, in der ich meine Einsamkeit vergessen konnte, selbst wenn ich von zu Hause weg war, dank der koreanischen Menschen, die mich so gut behandelten.Ich beschloss, meinem damaligen koreanischen Freund zu vertrauen und in Korea zu bleiben, und ich beschloss auch, mir einen Job in Korea zu suchen.
Obwohl ich mich von meinem damaligen Freund getrennt habe, hat er mir sehr geholfen, mich in Korea einzuleben, und dank ihm arbeite ich seit mehr als fünf Jahren in Korea. Obwohl ich für ein deutsches Unternehmen gearbeitet habe, habe ich gelernt, in vielerlei Hinsicht koreanisch zu sein und die Dinge auf koreanische Weise zu tun.
Ich habe mich sehr gut in Korea eingelebt, und es macht mir nichts aus, koreanisch zu essen, aber ich habe Heimweh. Ich habe viele gute Freunde in Korea, und ich bin froh, mit meinen Kollegen befreundet zu sein, auch wenn es nur unter vier Augen ist, aber ich kann nicht anders, als an die Heimatstadt meiner Eltern und die Gerüche zu denken, die für meine Heimatstadt typisch sind.
Ich dachte, wenn ich nach Deutschland zurückginge, wäre alles einfacher, alles wäre gelöst, und ich könnte den Job wechseln, wenn ich wollte, aber die Trennung von meinem koreanischen Freund, dem ich lange Zeit vertraut und vertraut hatte, zwang mich schließlich zu der Entscheidung, Korea zu verlassen. Wenn ich mich nicht von ihm getrennt hätte, wären meine Pläne, zu heiraten und mich in Korea einbürgern zu lassen, vielleicht unterbrochen worden.
Ich war besorgt, weil ich mein soziales Leben in Korea begonnen hatte und keine Erfahrung in Deutschland hatte, aber meine deutschen Kollegen sagten mir, dass ich, wenn ich die Fähigkeiten hätte, in Korea zu arbeiten, wahrscheinlich auch in Deutschland ein Tausendsassa sein würde.
Nun, ich habe noch nie in einem anderen Land gearbeitet, aber ich dachte, dass es keinen anderen Arbeitnehmer wie die Koreaner gibt, die bei allem ihre schnelle Arbeit und ihre enthusiastische Einstellung zeigen, und ich habe gelernt, mit dem Tempo mitzuhalten, enthusiastisch und schnell wie die Koreaner zu sein, also dachte ich, dass ich, wenn ich nach Deutschland zurückginge, frustriert wäre, wenn andere frustriert wären, aber ich würde anderen keinen Schaden zufügen.
Also bereitete ich mich darauf vor, nach Deutschland zu gehen, und als ich Korea verließ, wo ich so gern gewesen war, hatte ich viele Gedanken... Jetzt verlasse ich Korea, ich weiß nicht, wann ich zurückkommen werde, aber ich kam mit meinen eigenen emotionalen Gedanken, sagte danke und auf Wiedersehen... Es war mein eigener Abschied.
Meine Familie hat mich willkommen geheißen, und dank ihnen schien jegliches Bedauern, Korea zu verlassen, zu verschwinden, aber je länger ich in Deutschland arbeitete und lebte, desto mehr dachte ich an Korea, und es gab so viele Dinge, die mich an Korea erinnerten.
Nachdem ich mich von meinem Freund in Korea getrennt hatte, schaute ich mir hobbymäßig viele Videos an, und dieses Hobby setzte ich auch in Deutschland fort, aber vom ersten Tag an war die Internetgeschwindigkeit in Deutschland eine große Enttäuschung.
"Ich konnte meine Frustration nicht verbergen: Die Internetgeschwindigkeit in Deutschland war unvergleichlich langsamer als in Korea, was im täglichen Leben zu großen Unannehmlichkeiten führte.
Einmal musste ich eine wichtige Präsentationsdatei herunterladen, was viel länger dauerte als erwartet, was zu längeren Arbeitszeiten, einer verzögerten Fertigstellung und einer verspäteten Abgabe des Berichts führte, was für mich als Koreaner inakzeptabel war. Das einzig Gute war, dass sie, als ich ihnen sagte, dass das Herunterladen aufgrund von Internetproblemen zu lange dauerte, nicht glaubten, dass es meine Schuld war, und die Sache auf sich beruhen ließen, was ebenfalls ein Schock war.
In Korea waren die öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel immer pünktlich und leicht zu erreichen. Ich habe in Korea immer die U-Bahn und die Busse benutzt, um mich bequem fortzubewegen, und mit Naver Maps konnte ich mich immer so abstimmen, dass ich zur richtigen Zeit ankam und keine Zeit verlor. Manche Leute sagen, es sei höflich, 15 Minuten vor einem Termin anzukommen, aber in einem Land wie Korea, in dem Zeit so kostbar ist, habe ich mir nur 5 Minuten erlaubt, und selbst wenn ich einen wichtigen Termin in Korea hatte, habe ich es mir zur Regel gemacht, immer 5 Minuten früher anzukommen, weil ich darauf vertraute, dass das koreanische System genau ist. In Deutschland war die langsame Geschwindigkeit und die Unregelmäßigkeit der öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel ein großes Problem für mich, denn das war für viele Menschen alltäglich, und es machte mir nichts aus, nur mein Verstand war aufgewühlt.
Eines Tages beschloss ich, den Bus zu nehmen, um nicht zu spät zu einem wichtigen Termin zu kommen. Die Besprechung in einer anderen Stadt, in einem anderen Unternehmen, war sehr wichtig, und ich musste in meinem Unternehmen zurückbleiben, um die Unterlagen fertig zu stellen, die Präsentation vorzubereiten und pünktlich zu erscheinen.
"Ich kann es nicht glauben... die öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel sind so langsam... so etwas passiert in Korea nie...", beschwerte ich mich. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt wäre meine Verspätung verzeihlich gewesen, aber ich musste als nächstes an einer viel wichtigeren Besprechung teilnehmen, und da der Bus mich in große Schwierigkeiten gebracht hatte, buchte ich ein Zugticket. Der Zug hatte jedoch ohne Vorankündigung Verspätung, und ich kam zu einer weiteren wichtigen Besprechung zu spät, was mich sehr benachteiligte.
Mein deutscher Chef, der sehr verständnisvoll war, wenn ich einen Bericht wegen des langsamen Internets zu spät einreichte, wurde wütend, als ich ihm erzählte, dass ich wegen der öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel zu spät zu einer Besprechung kam.Das ist in Korea nie passiert, und ich bin nicht der Typ Mensch, der für so etwas kritisiert wird, aber bei der Arbeit in Deutschland hatte ich das Gefühl, dass mein Selbstwertgefühl sank.Zu oft wurden meine Fähigkeiten abgewertet und ich wurde von meinem Chef für Dinge kritisiert, auf die ich keinen Einfluss hatte. An diesem Punkt musste ich an Korea denken, wo es offensichtlich mehr Arbeit für eine Person gab als in Deutschland, und eine intensivere Arbeit, aber all das bedeutete, dass die Effizienz des Einzelnen aufgrund des genau kontrollierten Systems höher war, und die Organisation der Programme, für die man sich gründlich einsetzte, bedeutete, dass es mehr Arbeit zu tun gab.
Ich will mich nicht darüber beschweren, dass die Koreaner mehr arbeiten, aber weil das Umfeld angenehmer war, habe ich im Nachhinein festgestellt, dass mehr Arbeit pro Mitarbeiter zu erledigen war und dass die Erwartungen höher waren.Ich muss Ihnen sagen, dass ich vom koreanischen Arbeitsplatz überrascht war.
In Korea ist der Service in Restaurants und Geschäften sehr schnell und effizient: Das Essen wird innerhalb von Minuten nach der Bestellung serviert, und in Geschäften wird schnell bezahlt, aber in Deutschland ist alles langsam.
Als ich einmal mit meinen Freunden in ein Café ging, bestellten wir ein Getränk und warteten lange, bis es serviert wurde. In Korea ist es üblich, gleich nach dem Mittagessen einen Kaffee zum Nachtisch zu bestellen, und selbst wenn man in ein Café geht, in dem immer viele Leute sind und eine Warteschlange besteht, wird man, wenn man länger als 5 Minuten wartet, daran erinnert, oder wenn man die Bestellung nicht bearbeiten kann, wird die Bestellung für eine Weile gestoppt, damit die Kunden nicht unnötig lange warten müssen, aber in Deutschland ist es selbst in einem Café mit viel weniger Kunden und mehr Personal nicht ungewöhnlich, dass es 20 Minuten dauert. In Korea musste ich mehr als 5 Minuten auf meinen Kaffee warten, also ging ich hin, um zu protestieren, warum er nicht herauskam, aber als ich sah, wie das Personal mit unglaublich schnellen Händen Kaffee zubereitete, dachte ich: "Wenn sie so hart arbeiten, muss ich wohl eine Weile warten" In Korea gab es ein Gefühl von Geschwindigkeit und Rhythmus, selbst bei der einfachen Zubereitung von Getränken, aber hier entspannte sich das Personal und plauderte miteinander, und die Kunden warteten und bewegten sich langsam, ohne überhaupt zu merken, dass sie warteten.

Am Ende waren meine Freunde ungeduldig und hielten mich für einen ungeduldigen Menschen, und ich sagte ihnen, wenn ihr euch so beschweren wollt, solltet ihr mich das nächste Mal zu euch nach Hause einladen oder vorbereitet und ganz ruhig kommen, woraufhin einige von ihnen wütend wurden und gingen. Ich warte seit 40 Minuten auf meine Bestellung, ohne dass man mir sagt, ob meine Bestellung fertig ist oder ob es ein Problem gibt", argumentierte ich, aber meine Freunde verstanden mich nicht, und wir stritten uns schließlich, und diese Erfahrungen machten mich müde.
Ich war glücklich mit meinem Leben zu Hause, wo ich mir Zeit für meine Familie nehmen konnte, aber ich musste darauf vorbereitet sein, wenn ich mit der Arbeit zu tun hatte oder etwas anderes außerhalb der Arbeit tun musste.
Und einmal erzählte mir mein Arbeitgeber eine seltsame Geschichte, dass ich seit Monaten im Land war und meine Einreise nach Deutschland fehlte, so dass das Finanzamt mich fragte, warum ich die Rentenversicherung an ein Gespenst bezahle, warum ich die Einkommensteuer an ein Gespenst bezahle und warum ich die Einkommensteuer an ein Gespenst abführe und bezahle.
Die Firma sagte mir, dass mit mir etwas nicht stimmen könne und sie sich vergewissern wollten.
Aber als ich diese Geschichte hörte und mir klar wurde, dass mit den Behörden etwas nicht stimmte und ich das korrigieren musste, war ich frustriert, weil ich wusste, dass der Umgang mit der unglaublich langsamen deutschen Bürokratie ähnlich viel Kopfzerbrechen bereiten würde wie ein Rechtsstreit vor Gericht.
Nach vielen Telefonaten, Besuchen und stundenlangen Gesprächen mit dem Finanzamt und dem Zugdienst wurde mir mitgeteilt, dass mein Name in den Unterlagen des Zugdienstes schlichtweg fehlte, ebenso wie in den Unterlagen vieler anderer Passagiere des Fluges. Was in einem Satz hätte geklärt werden können, musste ich mit Dutzenden von Anrufen, mehreren Besuchen und furchterregenden Drohungen von Regierungsstellen ertragen, dass ich als Schmuggler verdächtigt und von der Polizei untersucht werden würde.
Schließlich hatte ich genug und stritt mit zahlreichen Beamten, und ich wurde sogar auf die Polizeiwache gerufen, um zu erfahren, warum ich die Beamten, die die Arbeit erledigten, anbrüllte und sie fragte, warum sie nicht schnell genug arbeiteten, und was ich mit dem Druck, den ich auf sie ausübte, erreichen wollte.
Aufgrund dieses Vorfalls war ich davon überzeugt, dass alles in Korea für mich richtig war und dass Korea der richtige Ort für mich war.
In der Vergangenheit hat mich das Leben in Korea sehr geprägt, denn Korea hat viele Vorteile, wie z. B. schnelles und effizientes Internet, öffentliche Verkehrsmittel, Dienstleistungen, Verwaltung und vieles mehr, was ich heute nicht mehr aufzählen kann. Da ich an die Annehmlichkeiten des Lebens in Korea gewöhnt war, fiel es mir schwer, mich an das langsamere Tempo und die Ineffizienz meines Heimatlandes zu gewöhnen.Nach der Rückkehr in mein Heimatland wurde mir klar, wie sehr ich das schnelle und effiziente Leben in Korea vermisst hatte.
Alles, was ich in Korea erlebt habe, hat einen tiefen Eindruck bei mir hinterlassen und mich dazu gebracht, immer wieder nach Korea zurückzukehren.Korea ist für mich nicht mehr nur ein Land, sondern ein besonderer Ort in meinem Herzen, ein Ort, der mich versteht und den ich verstehen kann.Korea ist das einzige Land, das mich retten kann, und ich hoffe, es wird meine zweite Heimat.
Schließlich, nach weniger als einem Jahr in Deutschland, suche ich nach einer Möglichkeit, wieder nach Korea zurückzukehren. Jetzt, da sie mehr Zeit haben, denke ich, dass die Probleme, die ich in Korea hatte, gelöst werden können, wenn ich in einem großen Haus wohne und sie oft einlade und ihre Gesichter oft sehe. Thursday, May 16 Good morning! A 1.2% gain for the S&P 500 sent it to a new record high as meme stock momentum faltered. S&P 5,308: The S&P 500 closed Wednesday at a record high of 5,308, its first time over the 5,300 mark. The Nasdaq and Dow also hit record highs, with the latter moving ever closer to 40,000, which would be its first time reaching a new 10,000-point increment since 2020. ‌ Welcome inflation news: April's Consumer Price Index report served as the stock market's main catalyst Wednesday as consumer prices rose less than expected and grew at the slowest pace in three months. Investors see this as a step in the right direction for the Fed's inflation fight and, taken with slowing retail sales, as a sign the central bank will not only cut rates in 2024 but potentially do so more than once. ‌
Walmart reports: The retail titan reports quarterly results Thursday and investors will be looking for confirmation of both the Commerce Department's flat sales numbers and the consumer slowdown Home Depot's quarterly report suggested. But with the retailer serving the dual role as retail bellwether and value-friendly trade-down option from more expensive stores, that confirmation may be tricky to find. ‌
Everyone is losing with car insurance: The biggest price jump seen in April's CPI report, by far, was in car insurance. Prices are up 22.6% over the past year — yet, perhaps counterintuitively, car insurance companies aren't gouging consumers. Instead, they're on their fourth consecutive year of considerable losses. ‌ GameStop and AMC in the red: GameStop and AMC finished Wednesday back in the red after a hot start to the week. AMC was able to raise $250 million, capitalizing on the meme stock moment, but GameStop's window is closing. One of the reasons? Doing so would have spoiled its favorable balance sheet, which AMC did not have. Still, GameStop stock is up 117% from Friday. Plenty of time to hit the bid. ‌ Wall Street’s biggest bull wishes he'd been even more bullish. But he's making up for it now. ‌ “It has become clear to us that we underestimated the strength of the market momentum,” Brian Belski, BMO Capital Markets chief investment strategist, wrote Wednesday morning in a note revising his 2024 year-end forecast to a Street high of 5,600. ‌ Buoyed by Wednesday's moderating inflation numbers, stocks closed at 5,308, making Belski's target 5.5% away. ‌ Underestimation is not what Belksi is known for. Last November, the strategist’s team had the high-water mark for 2024 predictions with 5,100, one of the few daring to go past the 5,000 mark. ‌ At the time the index stood at 4,550, over 5% off its January 2022 peak of 4,796. ‌ Belksi’s call proved to be prescient. ‌ And before the calendar flipped, Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank, and Citi had joined BMO at 5,100, with Oppenheimer and Fundstrat taking pole position at 5,200. And as the S&P 500 blew past the entire Street’s predictions in March, multiple firms adjusted their forecasts. ‌ BMO didn’t, a move that — again — would seem prescient as the index dipped as low as 4,967 in April.
Wall Street’s biggest bull wishes he'd been a bigger bull “In late February we decided to draw a line in the sand with respect to our 2024 S&P 500 price target of 5,100 since we believed market performance had run a little too far, too fast,” Belski wrote, referencing the stock market’s rocket-like trajectory that ran well over 20% in just a few months after its October low. ‌ But this prudence was, in fact, a mistake, the strategist said. ‌ In the three months since, the stock market’s dip and recovery to a new all-time high (pick your index, they’re all peaking) was thanks in large part to an alignment in investor expectations and Fed guidance, which Wednesday's retail sales and CPI keeps in the right direction. ‌
“We are comfortable with this because we believe the market is behaving in a similar fashion to 2021 and 2023 — years where we did not give enough credit to the strength of market momentum, something we are trying to avoid this time around,” Belski added. ‌ BMO's team found that the first two years of this new bull market are lagging the average performance seen during the first two years of new bull runs. So, with little change in terms of fundamentals or general economic conditions, the revised forecast is underpinned by sentiment, expectations, and the more nebulous aspects of the stock market. ‌ Although BMO’s fresh forecast maps out a great destination for bulls, it does contain a notable warning about possible turbulence. ‌ “We are still skeptical that the 5.5% drawdown that occurred during March-April will be the worst for the S&P 500 this year given historical data that shows an average drawdown of 9.4% for the second year of bull markets historically,” Belski wrote. ‌ A 5,600 year-end with a bigger than 5.5% drop between now and then? ‌ That almost feels more bullish than a simple 5,600 target.
The S&P 500 hit a record high on Wednesday, closing above 5,300 for the first time ever as investors cheered softer inflation data and grew more optimistic about the prospect of Federal Reserve interest rate cuts this year. ‌ And while we've been highlighting a rotation in markets to areas like Utilities (XLU) during the latest leg of the rally, the S&P 500's first record since March didn't come without a rise in perhaps the most notable sub-sector of the market over the past year. ‌ The Roundhill Magnificent Seven ETF (MAGS), launched in April 2023, tracks the "Magnificent Seven" stocks: Apple (AAPL), Alphabet (GOOGL, GOOG), Microsoft (MSFT), Amazon (AMZN), Meta (META), Tesla (TSLA), and Nvidia (NVDA). It's up about 5.6% in the past month, outpacing the S&P 500's 4.9% gain and now sitting at its own all-time high. ‌ As seen in the chart below, the Magnificent Seven's rise, coinciding with an increase in the broader market, has been a feature of the market rally over the past year. 1. Tagesspiegel (🇩🇪, €) made a list of the top 10 best-paying Berlin employers based on Kununu data with a minimum of 50 submitted salaries. I’ve often featured many here, but was recently sceptical about Cariad (VW’s software company).
2. Because I clicked on one ad, my Instagram stories are full of law firms offering deletion of bad Google reviews. It’s a big business because I get a lot of ads served on the “Löschhelfer” Google query. With this templated business model, businesses can harass reviewers for a couple of EUR. Here is a BZ report on a not-named popular Café in Mitte (🇩🇪). A part of me is, “fuck it, who cares,” but a part of me is like, “Let’s name the bars and restaurants doing it.” What do you think? Spoiler alert: I decided we can’t really do anything against it without getting bullied.
3. 💬 Briefly:
   1. Stats: On average, we eat 51.6kg of meat annually (-430g YoY) in Germany. Out of which 27.5kg is pork, 13.1kg poultry and 8.9kg red meat. (FAZ)
   2. Activist investor hedge fund Sachem Head started a 3.6% position in Delivery Hero. This usually means nervous C-level management and stock price appreciation. Last week, the stock settled at +18.47%.

   1. Grocery delivery news: Flink raised $100M from most of the existing investors, maybe also to fight off Knuspr (formerly known as Bringmeister), which is starting in Berlin on the 22nd of April. Crowded! WiWo (🇩🇪) reported that Getir might pull out of Germany. (It eventually did!)
   2. Thai retailer Central Group bought the remaining share of bankrupt KaDeWe. According to RBB, the company was struggling for years. (🇩🇪) Extremely high rents from their owner (Signa) surely didn’t help. Financial engineering until you hit the wall?
   3. After a stellar 2023 performance, Q1 sales of ASML (microchip equipment producer with a presence in Berlin) came in at 21.6% lower than expected. ArrakisTaiwan-based TMSC also lowered the outlook.
   4. RBB reports that Apple Maps started to record German streets for their “street view”. This time they’ll also do it on foot (in Berlin between 23.5 and 31.7). The whole thing should be documented by mid-August.

Week of 29th (issue #99)

1. ❤️ We have trash investigators like “Bronko” in Berlin (🇩🇪), so make sure you don’t do anything stupid (fines are going to significantly increase as well: 250€ for a fag, €3.000 for 2kg of trash and €8k for a sofa). BSR removed 40.000 m3 of illegal trash in 2022! I wish dogs would also leave a signature on their sh*t, because some of their owners clearly have no shame.
2. 💦 The Berliner published the results of their sex survey (n=2,075). Findings include high acceptance and practice of non-monogamy (40% defining their relationships as some form of non-monogamy) and the cultural influence on sexual identity (35% reported that living in Berlin has changed their preferred relationship type).
3. 🤔 Bayer, the former German pharma champion and aspirin inventor, is in big trouble. €34.5B of debt, €2.5B loss in 2023 and poor pharma pipeline. Bill Anderson, CEO since June 2023, learned “that the company’s rules and procedures handbook was longer than War and Peace,” so his plan now is to save €2B by cutting most of the middle managers and asking nearly 100,000 employees to ‘self-organize’. Career: LinkedIn compiled a list of the 25 best companies in Germany based (🇩🇪) on eight factors: advancement opportunities, skill growth, company stability, external job prospects, company affinity, gender distribution, educational level of employees, and employer relevance in the specific country.    2. Autodoc (Berlin, auto parts e-commerce) reached unicorn status (€2.3B) after taking on a private investment from Apollo Funds. In 2023 they generated €1.3B+ in net revenue and €130+ million of adjusted EBITDA.
   3. HelloFresh reported Q1: a 74.6% drop in adj. EBITDA to €16.8 million with record revenue of €2.07B. They target 2% to 8% revenue growth for the fiscal 2024.

ANALYSIS:

• Let’s look at and analyse the main things happening in premarket first of all.
• Firstly, the Yen intervention, which Japan’s Kanda hasn’t confirmed but reports are out from DJ that thats what happened this morning.
• We saw yen weaken to 160 vs the USD. This was touted by JPM as the intervention point that BOJ were looking at, although their commentary last week was all very much vague.
• When we saw 160 hit, we saw a big drop in USDJPY, as yen squeezed higher.
• The price action was more extreme because Japan has a national holiday today, hence trading volumes were thin.
• WE saw it drop from 160 to 154.5
• It found support from the technicals at the 20 day Moving average, as we see below:
• We saw recovery above the 155 level. 155 is one of the key gamma levels, where there is a lot of put support there. The bigger key gamma level, below this is 152. There is a hell of a lot of put support at 152. If the BOJ wants the yen to meaningfully improve vs the USD, it needs to get USDJPY below 152. Thats when we can go meaningfully lower. Above there, and we expect it to find support from these gamma levels and move higher, as we saw it do from 155.
• Skew actually points higher in USDJPY now. This tells us that traders are not really expecting much more meaningful intervention right now. We can see USDJPY move higher again soon. Probably won’t be as effective as BOJ hoped.
• Now the other key news from premarket, is TESLA, who have now received the regulatory approval for FULL self driving in China, rather than the limited product they had on offer already.
• Tesla is pumping in premarket.
• If we look at the gamma levels, we see 200 as having a lot of open interest. As such, we can see it as a magnet for price action moving forward.
• FTSE pushed higher to 8200, but we see skew lowering. This tells us traders are hedging for price action to mveo lower now. The move is likely close to done for now, except if the Fed support move higher. We expect that because OTM delta isnt really showing much call delta so traders aren’t betting FTSE goes much higher.

• Nasdaq: up 0.3% in premarket, trading at 17,780. 17,850 is a resistance, then The next big resistance will be the 18k level.
• Dow Jones: Flat in premarket, trading at 38,300.
• HKG50 up 1% again in premarket. Now at 17,750. Touched 18k then came down from there. 18k is now the strong resistance.
• UK100 higher to 8200, pared slightly to 8180. Still up 0.4% today.
• GER40: flat around 18,140.
• Oil: Flat at 83.65. Maintaining the uptrend drawn since December 2023.
• GOld: Flat above 2300.
• VIX: Vix flat at 15.22. last week closed perfectly at the put support of 15. Was a big VIX crush last week. Opened today at 15.22.

FX:

• USDJPY closed Friday at 158.3.
• In early Monday trading, it moved up to 160. This was a key level where traders were hedging for intervention.
• It seemed as though we did get that fX intervention hence the big decline.
• This decline was right down to 154.5
• This is where the 20 day Moving average was and so it found support there.
• Also a key gamma level at 155.
• It moved below this level, before recovering above again.
• Note: its a national holiday in Japan, hence why more exaggerated trading on thin volumes.
• Despite this no official comment from BOJ that they have intervened, although that is the clear assumption.
• So Yen squeezed higher after hitting 160 vs USD
• All other currencies quite flat compared.

ANALYSIS:

• Let’s look at and analyse the main things happening in premarket first of all.
• Firstly, the Yen intervention, which Japan’s Kanda hasn’t confirmed but reports are out from DJ that thats what happened this morning.
• We saw yen weaken to 160 vs the USD. This was touted by JPM as the intervention point that BOJ were looking at, although their commentary last week was all very much vague.
• When we saw 160 hit, we saw a big drop in USDJPY, as yen squeezed higher.
• The price action was more extreme because Japan has a national holiday today, hence trading volumes were thin.
• WE saw it drop from 160 to 154.5
• It found support from the technicals at the 20 day Moving average, as we see below:
• We saw recovery above the 155 level. 155 is one of the key gamma levels, where there is a lot of put support there. The bigger key gamma level, below this is 152. There is a hell of a lot of put support at 152. If the BOJ wants the yen to meaningfully improve vs the USD, it needs to get USDJPY below 152. Thats when we can go meaningfully lower. Above there, and we expect it to find support from these gamma levels and move higher, as we saw it do from 155.
• Skew actually points higher in USDJPY now. This tells us that traders are not really expecting much more meaningful intervention right now. We can see USDJPY move higher again soon. Probably won’t be as effective as BOJ hoped.
• Now the other key news from premarket, is TESLA, who have now received the regulatory approval for FULL self driving in China, rather than the limited product they had on offer already.
• Tesla is pumping in premarket.
• If we look at the gamma levels, we see 200 as having a lot of open interest. As such, we can see it as a magnet for price action moving forward.
• FTSE pushed higher to 8200, but we see skew lowering. This tells us traders are hedging for price action to mveo lower now. The move is likely close to done for now, except if the Fed support move higher. We expect that because OTM delta isnt really showing much call delta so traders aren’t betting FTSE goes much higher.

ANALYSIS:

• Let’s look at and analyse the main things happening in premarket first of all.
• Firstly, the Yen intervention, which Japan’s Kanda hasn’t confirmed but reports are out from DJ that thats what happened this morning.
• We saw yen weaken to 160 vs the USD. This was touted by JPM as the intervention point that BOJ were looking at, although their commentary last week was all very much vague.
• When we saw 160 hit, we saw a big drop in USDJPY, as yen squeezed higher.
• The price action was more extreme because Japan has a national holiday today, hence trading volumes were thin.
• WE saw it drop from 160 to 154.5
• It found support from the technicals at the 20 day Moving average, as we see below:
• We saw recovery above the 155 level. 155 is one of the key gamma levels, where there is a lot of put support there. The bigger key gamma level, below this is 152. There is a hell of a lot of put support at 152. If the BOJ wants the yen to meaningfully improve vs the USD, it needs to get USDJPY below 152. Thats when we can go meaningfully lower. Above there, and we expect it to find support from these gamma levels and move higher, as we saw it do from 155.
• Skew actually points higher in USDJPY now. This tells us that traders are not really expecting much more meaningful intervention right now. We can see USDJPY move higher again soon. Probably won’t be as effective as BOJ hoped.
• Now the other key news from premarket, is TESLA, who have now received the regulatory approval for FULL self driving in China, rather than the limited product they had on offer already.
• Tesla is pumping in premarket.
• If we look at the gamma levels, we see 200 as having a lot of open interest. As such, we can see it as a magnet for price action moving forward.
• FTSE pushed higher to 8200, but we see skew lowering. This tells us traders are hedging for price action to mveo lower now. The move is likely close to done for now, except if the Fed support move higher. We expect that because OTM delta isnt really showing much call delta so traders aren’t betting FTSE goes much higher.
• HKG50 breakout from downtrend since 2023 continues, hitting 18k level today. 18k is v big gamma level, hence why we saw price action reverse from here.
• In SPX, we see traders unwind some of their hedges as they bet that geopolitical pressures are mostly behind us. We see that too, as oil skew points lower which suggests traders expect oil to move down soon.
• Finally, busy week ahead.
• This week ahead, we have FOMC decision on Wednesday, as well as jobs numbers throughout the week, which will give us some insight into the labour market.
• Put on top of that all the following earnings reports, and we are set for a volatile week of trading.

DATA LEDE:

• Spain inflation rate:
• 3.3% YOY vs 3.4% expected, previous reading was 3.2%
• SO ticked up from last month, but not as much as expected.
• GERMAN inflation rate:

MARKETS:

• SPX set to open above 5100 this morning, pulled up by Tesla and Aapl. Currently trading at 5112. This is just above the highs of Friday.
• Nasdaq: up 0.3% in premarket, trading at 17,780. 17,850 is a resistance, then The next big resistance will be the 18k level.
• Dow Jones: Flat in premarket, trading at 38,300.
• HKG50 up 1% again in premarket. Now at 17,750. Touched 18k then came down from there. 18k is now the strong resistance.
• UK100 higher to 8200, pared slightly to 8180. Still up 0.4% today.
• GER40: flat around 18,140.
• Oil: Flat at 83.65. Maintaining the uptrend drawn since December 2023.
• GOld: Flat above 2300.
• VIX: Vix flat at 15.22. last week closed perfectly at the put support of 15. Was a big VIX crush last week. Opened today at 15.22.

FX:

• USDJPY closed Friday at 158.3.
• In early Monday trading, it moved up to 160. This was a key level where traders were hedging for intervention.
• It seemed as though we did get that fX intervention hence the big decline.
• This decline was right down to 154.5
• This is where the 20 day Moving average was and so it found support there.
• Also a key gamma level at 155.
• It moved below this level, before recovering above again.
• Note: its a national holiday in Japan, hence why more exaggerated trading on thin volumes.
• Despite this no official comment from BOJ that they have intervened, although that is the clear assumption.
• So Yen squeezed higher after hitting 160 vs USD
• All other currencies quite flat compared.
• GBPUSD up 0.3% to 1.253EURUSD same trend, up 0.2% after selling off on Friday. Now at 1.071. On Friday, it retested 1.07 before pushing higher.

MAG 7 NEWS:

• TSLA - Tesla will spend $10B ons elf driving in 2024. Musk says “any company not spending at this level cannot compete”.
• Musk also makes surprise China visit to set up path for FSD there.
• Musk strikes deal with China’s BIDU for driver assistance. Tesla partnering with Bid to deploy mapping and navigation tech in China.
• TEsla has now paved the way for FSD to be launched in China now
• This is a market where their sales have been weaker, So is bullish for the company.
• Note they have had self driving there but limited version of it, not full self driving. They said that Chinese authorities removed restrictions on thier cars.
• TESLA up 8% in premarket.
• AAPL - renewed talks with openAI for iPhone generative AI features. This would be for the next iPhone.
• AAPL price target at 195 from Bernstein, raised to outperform.
• AAPl up 2% as a result.
• AMZN -The NBA and Amazon Prime Video have a framework for an agreement that will make the streamer one of the homes for significant regular season and postseason games for a decade
• GOOGL - plans $3B data center investment in Indiana.
• META - down as EU probing Meta over handling of Russian disinformation. Selena Gomez also said that deleting Instagram was best decision she made.

OTHER COMPANIES:

• BIDU - Musk strikes deal with China’s BIDU for driver assistance. Tesla partnering with Bid to deploy mapping and navigation tech in China.
• Tesla are leading other EVs like Li etc higher.
• PARA up in premarket as Skydance comes back with their “best and final” offer for Paramount.
• ORCL boosts its generative AI capabilities.
• Crypto stocks are generally lower slightly as BTC headed slightly lower this weekend just been. BTC down 2.5% in last 24 hours.
• SOFI up after earnings report. Strong revenue forecast.
• LUV down as Jefferies downgrades Southwest Airlines to underperform, lowers price target to 20. current price 27.
• Deutsche Bank lower after filing monthly SEC report. Warns on litigation with Postbank’s shareholders.
• Could face hit up to 1.3B euros.
• LULU - Barclays cuts to equal weight from overweight.
• Lithium producers are generally higher as Saudi Arabia seeks lithium imports for EV ambitions.
• Renewable stocks generally slightly higher.
• Phillips share rocket 46% as the firm settles the US respiratory device case. $1.1B settlement. That was a major legislative headwind surrounding the company tha tis now overcome.
• AVTR - maintained outperform by braid, price target 26 from 27.
• OLN - Pric target cut to 73 from 78, by Keybanc, maintained at overweight.
• DAL - Delta flight makes emergency return after exit slide separates from Boeing aircraft.
• DPZ - sees strong orders as they smash sales expectations
• BA - Turkish airlines in talks with Airbus and BA to buy 235 planes
• BHP tells investors that their bid for Anglo is on strategy and says they are extremely disciplined. They are weighing up a possible improved proposal for Anglo American.
• ZTS - will sell medicated feed additive portfolio to Phibro Animal health for 350M.

• Rev $581M vs $558M est
• EBITDA $144M vs $123M est
• Sees 2Q:
• Rev $555-565M vs $590M est
• EBITDA $115-125M vs $136M est

• Rev $2.39-2.43B vs $2.39B est
• EBITDA $590-600M vs $589M est

OTHER NEWS:

• Likely FX intervention from BOJ as USDJPY hit 160.
• Still no official comment from BOJ confirming the FX intervention. Japan’s Kanda says Japan will disclose if FX intervention came at the end of May.
• Said they will continue to take appropriate action against excessive forex moves.
• Phillips share rocket 46% in Europe as the firm settles the US respiratory device case. That was a major legislative headwind surrounding the company tha tis now overcome.
• Treasury yields slightly lower ahead of FOMC meeting.
• Eurozone April consumer inflation expectations came at 11.6, vs 12.3 in March, so less than expected.
• California fast food chains are rising prices as state raised minimum wage for fast food workers.
• Moodys on France: local currency senior unsecured rating remain unchanged at Aa2. The stable outlook remains unchanged as well.
• Fitch affirms France at AA- outlook stable.
• Israel officials worry that international criminal court is preparing to issue arrest warrants for senior government officials.
• HAMAS supposedly has no major issue with ceasefire proposal put forward by Egypt and Israel, Supposedly the majority of Israeli government supports the terms fo the deal too.
• Us says the proposal to Hamas is extraordinarily generous.
• Egypt says that only US has the ability to break the cycle of violence in Gaza
• Bitcoin ETF is set to launch in Australia now, following US and Hong Kong
• Russian foreign minister says that there will be a severe response if Russian assets are touched.
• Citigroup says that they expect 100 bps of cuts this year again, starting in July. They were previously expecting the first rate cut in June.
• Fitch maintains Switzerlands Credit rating at AAA with stable outlook.
• Turkish grocery delivery company, Getir says they are pulling out of European and US markets, to focus on main Turkish market.

• Kirby's Dream Land was released in 1992 for the Game Boy in Japan. In this action/platformer game, developed by HAL Laboratory, someone has stolen from the inhabitants of Dream Land. It's Kirby to the rescue. Dream Land is in peril. An evil king has stolen the magical Twinkle Stars. If they're not recovered, the people of Dream Land will starve. Join Kirby, our cute and roly-poly little hero, as he runs, jumps, floats and swims in search of the treasured Twinkle Stars. He'll puff his way through castles, caves, dungeons and forests.
  
• Game Boy Gallery was released in 1995 for the Game Boy in PAL territories. In this video game compilation/mini-game compilation, developed by Nintendo R&D1 with Tose, five updated versions of classic Game & Watch games are contained. Each game comes with the option to play Game A or the more difficult Game B, and to change the music from the new Game Boy tunes to the original Game & Watch sound effects. Available games are Ball; Vermin; Flagman; Manhole and Mario's Cement Factory.
  
• Star Fox 64 (known as Lylat Wars in PAL regions) was released in 1997 for the Nintendo 64 in Japan. In this rail/scrolling shooter, developed by Nintendo EAD, Andross has launched an all-out attack on the Lylat System, and only Fox McCloud and the Star Fox team stand in his way. Jump into your Arwing fighter, Landmaster tank or Blue Marine sub, and blast Andross' forces into atoms! Battle through 15 varied levels of air, space, land and undersea combat.
  
• The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask was released in 2000 for the Nintendo 64 in Japan. In this action-adventure game, developed by Nintendo EAD, if Ocarina of Time is an epic, then Majora's Mask can only be described as an epic epic. This time Link, the Hyrulian Hero, struggles against time to unravel the unsettling mystery of Majora's Mask. This mind-bending follow-up to Ocarina of Time sparkles with an artistic flair and presents a premise that shatters the foundation upon which most games are built.

Hi guys,
Unfortunately, my ModOrganizer didn't save my load orders when I moved the hard drives and now I'm faced with complete chaos and I'm just desperate because I can't get my mods to run anymore.
Unfortunately, there were two or three of the mods that were not compatible and were deactivated. I was no longer able to differentiate between them afterwards.
I've now started sorting the loading order again, but as I said I'm really desperate now...
Can someone please look over the mods and help me sort them?

now occupy button in editor works! it will help alot on scenarios like 1943 1917 etc.
