Hey all,
Even though I’m a frequent flyer and never allowed my fear to disrupt any plans or wishes, I’m starting to get so unreasonably afraid of flying lately that I’m afraid it might affect my plans very soon. It has always been a fear of mine but it’s growing recently.
To give a bit of background, I abhor turbulence and especially a possible sudden drop mid-sky during cruising. It happened to me a few times and it’s so frightening it got me literally screaming for life before. I’m writing this in a flight from MRS to AMS where a massive weather system was on the way, looking like a hurricane on the map. The takeoff inside the clouds was terrifying.
I live in the Netherlands and the weather is often horrible, with shear wind, endless cloudy skies, where I can’t see anything! I also often travel to South America which is bumpy like crazy.
That said, I have a few questions / beliefs that, if someone can weigh in, would help me a lot in coping with this debilitating fear!

1. Assuming there are thousands of flights all the time in Europe, I expect that, within Europe, there’s so much feedback between pilots / airports that the chance of sudden unexpected turbulences are lower. Is that true?
   
2. Is there any chance the pilot may turn on the breaks mid-flight by mistake, forcing a fatal nosedive?
   
3. Pilots love to do everything at the same time when landing. Instead of turning, then opening flaps, then doing another turn, they like to do it all at once. Im dying seeing the land so close to me while everything is shaking when the plane extends the wings. How dangerous is it? Isnt it better to do one thing at a time? Sometimes they add cloud + turbulence to the mix to my misery.
   
4. How likely it is that a cumulus nimbus will randomly form in front of me suddenly, to the point the pilot unavoidably enter it?
   
5. The sounds of the plane, to me, are completely random. Sometimes it sounds like the engine is full on for 5s for no reason, sometimes it sounds like the pilot is using the brakes mid-air. How often do they mistakenly press these things they shouldnt?
   
6. I try to gaze directly into the eyes of the flight attendants in moments of difficulty, but they are way too good at hiding their fear. Are they ever afraid of anything? Not even in a severe turbulence?

Template is below. So my SO and I typically fly 2-3 times per year, we typically always rent a car when we do, 50/50 split whether we stay at an airbnb or hotel, just depends.
I currently only have one credit card which I do the majority of all of my spending on, except for things like rent or that can’t be on a CC. I get 1-3% back on spending and usually get between 40 to 70 bucks a month.
Anyway, we are hopefully planning a wedding and a trip abroad in the next few years , including a big expenses this November on travel for a destination wedding. So many opportunities to earn points. I’d like to start building some points and hopefully save some money on our flight this November, and on flights in general moving forward.

how long, approximately, are the previous generation Pro iPads available in stores after the new one came out? I'm guessing that with them it's similar to the iPhone Pro that Apple stops producing with every cycle.
I'm asking because I'm currently sitting on an Air M1, but I am running low on storage (64GB peasant here). I'm sure it will be enough for some time (maybe a year or two?), but someday I'll have to migrate to something bigger.
However, I'm using it with a pencil and magic keyboard, and I don't see myself buying both, an iPad for the M4 with bigger storage, and a new stylus with a keyboard, when I have no complaints about those, as replacing them is going to raise the overall price quite significantly. That's why I'm leaning towards M2, to get it with 256GB and for the ProMotion - and having compatible accessories would be an asset.
So, I'm wondering what "window" of availability I have here for the M2, whether to rush for it, or there still few months that they will still be available (given that it's less popular device than iPhone than the iPhone). I know it may be different depending on region, but any insight would be good, as I started using iPads since this Air.
There's still an option for me to wait till the storage runs out, and then get the M2 Pro if it will be still available, or the newest iPad Pro, but it's uncertain when will that happen.

Hi I want to buy cheap MacBook for myself and I know that everyone says that I should go for “M” chip but since I will be using it only while traveling I don’t want to depend 1200$ for new m1 or 1600$ for M2. So what are your opinions about MacBook like this ? Is it okay in terms of performance? And is 8GB ram enough for playing Minecraft on low settings ? Or should I go with other MacBook like the MacBook Pro ? My only requirement is that it needs to be under 250$ on used market(I know it’s very little but that’s the point) Or what should I look for in used MacBook market ?my best find is 170$ MacBook Air 2015 with 8GB Ram and i5 or identical MacBook Pro but 2013 model.

I've been to Buenos Aires a few times, and I'm always surrounded by Japanese visitors. EZE is filled with predominantly Japanese travelers; they outnumber all other nationalities each time I've arrived in Bs As.
I couldn't find much history about Japanese-Argentine tourism, but I was really curious as to whether this is a trend or if it's just me.

In July of 2021 my husband and I stayed in an AirBnB where we started getting bed bug bites. We luckily left without taking them with us, but ever since then I freak out at the tiniest red mark. I think all bug bites could be bed bug bites. I worry about hotels and traveling. I constantly ask friends/family to tell me if a mark looks like a bug bite. I feel like I’m going crazy. Has anyone else experienced this?

Exotic Perk: Golden Remnant
This weapon upon first draw fires one massive damage golden gun shot as long as golden gun is equipped costing the weapons full magazine, strong against barrier and unstoppable champions. After firing this single shot, reload speed is reduced by 65% (meaning it takes longer to reload) and the next magazine applies the Light Burnout de-buff on the wielder. Killing an enemy with Golden Remnant grants a medium amount of super energy, stronger enemies give more super and grenade energy, up to 35%, Guardians in the crucible count as 5% and guardians with their super active count as 7.5% as long as your super bar is under 75%. After casting your super, you may use this ability again by holding 'R' while the gun is at a full magazine. Dying does not allow the ability to be used again. If golden gun is not equipped than this this weapons exotic perk is basically useless.
Light Burnout: De-buff
The magazine after the high powered Golden Remnant shot is fired does 30% less damage to rank-and-file enemies, 25% less damage to powerful enemies, and 15% less damage to Bosses, Yellow bar enemies and Guardians. No damage drop-off for guardians with their super active. Switching weapons takes slightly longer as well, at a 5% time increase. this also creates a major decrease to impact and stability and other deficits to other stats. THIS EFFECT ONLY HAPPENS FOR ONE MAGAZINE. Swapping weapons does not remove the effect when switching back unless activating Golden remnant another time.
Special Perk 2: Rekindling Spirit
If the Golden Remnant shot misses a target that shot is refunded at the same strength.
Special Perk 3: Lighting the Fire
This weapon does a medium amount of bonus damage to fallen, scorn, hive and taken with a solar de-buff on them. up to 45% bonus damage. This weapon provides a extremely large explosion if the final shot of a magazine without the Light burnout effect defeats a powerful enemy spreading scorch across a large area.
Catalyst:
Acquired through Master level or higher nightfall's.
Catalyst ability: Splitting Eruption
The initial single strong golden remnant shot turns into two half Golden remnant powered shots that spread scorch to targets and ignites in a short radius around where the shot was fired and gives the wielder radiant for a short duration after a final blow. Stunning a champion with golden remnant creates an additional Golden remnant shot that fires at 35% strength.

Whoever wielded this weapon before the guardian was deeply invested in the intricacies of the Shard of the Traveler that was used during the Red War to fight back against the cabal. It seems as though word got out about his research and when the cabal caught wind, they came for him. Not much on this in the archives either, must have been a relatively unknown guardian, why wouldn't they contact us after we scurried to the farm? So many unanswered questions. Its unfortunate that he ended up losing his ghost and burning up with the almighty. The weapon schematics we recovered from his corpse intrigue me though, there's.. a piece of the shard on here! - Zavala

Subclass Themes

With the darkness subclasses being based on mental states, I took the ideology of the id, ego, and super ego to be the darkness elements. I took the ego to be stasis as you are forcing your will into reality and overriding the will of others. I understood the superego to be strand. Understanding the world around you, the complexity and the conections of it all, the restrictions and necessity of reality. That leaves the id. Desires and instinct. Fantasies and dreams. Compulsions.
Another theme that had to be included was that of opposition. Strand is about creation and void is about absence. Solar and stasis, while much more complicated than fire and ice, do oppose each other in more meaningful ways. Arc is all about mobility, energy, adapting, and change. The opposite would be complacency. Sloth. Giving in to your desires.
The last requirements would be to have anti-barrier perks and anti-overload perks. This was the simplest and could be flavored in any which way, with anti barrier having some sort of buff, and anti overload having some sort of debuff.
With this I introduce Soul, a form of darkness that takes the shape of a dark red liquid. Names could all use some work.

Verbs

Seethe (Debuff): Soul seeps into enemies minds revealing their anger. Form of cc that has non-boss units attack nearby enemies. Combatants affected cant discern between friend or foe. Enemy guardians afflicted have friendly fire enabled and increased recoil. Reticles will slowly shift towards allies within ? meters.
Despair (Debuff): Soul clouds your head. Prevents any health gain during affliction. Enemies take damage over time. Ends with a burst of damage. Strong against overloads.
Wrath (Buff): Release your inner fury. Weapons are empowered dealing increased damage based on targets missing health. Capped at 35%. Strong against Barrier champions.
Envy (Buff): Enemy accuracy towards buffed targets is reduced based on distance. Closer enemies are more likely to miss shots. Melee damage received is reduced.
Harrow (Class Pickup): Soul matter coalesces on the floor in large red pools after killing debuffed targets. Enemies standing on Harrow take minor damage. Interacts with aspects and fragments. Armor charge works off time spent on Harrow.

Disclaimer

I was more focused on ideology. I have yet to refine ideas but aspects, melees, and supers allow for a lot of creativity of which i am lacking atm. If you have any suggestions, changes or anything let me know. Change the verbs or the whole damn thing, just want any sort of discussion. No its not serious nor do I think there is any chance of this.

Hunter

Mind Tap (Melee): Throw an ice pick. Headshots cause targets to Seethe. Bodyshots cause Despair.
Merciless (Aspect): While Wrathful heal for a very small portion of the damage dealt to Despairing targets. Despair will spread between close enemies.
Paranoia (Aspect): Dodging while standing on Harrow puddles lets the hunter dissolve into Soul matter becoming untargetable, gain heavy damage resist, and be able to move through units. While in Paranoia gain Wrathful. Gain 200% increased melee regen and movement speed. Offensive actions pull you out. Displayed as large waves moving inside.
Paint it Red (Aspect): Damaging Despairing targets releases Harrow. Has a short cooldown.
Hemophobia (Super): Explode into a massive puddle of Soul matter leaving Harrow around you. Does increased Harrow damage. Light attack throws ice picks that cause despair. Deals more damage to targets on Harrow. Heavy Attack dashes forward dealing light damage. Dodge refreshes on use.

Titan

Menacing Strike(Melee): Summon a massive maw from your hand inflicting Despair in a small aoe. Hits grant Wrath.
Unholy Soul (Aspect): Standing in Harrow puddles slowly provides health and Envy. Kills on Harrow refresh the duration and increase the size of the pool.
Terror (Aspect): Soul kills charge up a meter. When fully charged your next powered melee will deal 3x damage, have much more range, grant damage resistance, and grant Envy for a brief period. Melee charge is separate from the standard (think gunpowder gamble).
Finality (Aspect): Powered melee final blows while Wrathful refresh 90% of melee energy. Using your aerial move will slam down releasing Harrow and refilling active weapons. Costs melee energy.
Sorrow (Super): Whip around chains before tossing them at the target enemy. Enemy erupts in massive damage Despairing all nearby combatants and releasing Harrow. After a delay the target erupts again, taking damage based on the damage taken during the super.

Warlock

Dread (Melee): Shoot forward a cloud, raining and Despairing all enemies hit along the way. At max distance or on large targets the cloud lingers.
Agnosiophobia (Aspect): While grounded; press your air move to vanish, reappearing at a Harrow covered point of your choice. Emerging and departing causes a Despairing and Envious aoe. Large amounts of Harrow are released at the point that you left. Standing on Harrow gives you 100% grenade regen rate.
Mind Flayer (Aspect): Seething lasts longer on enemies. Seething enemies that die near you release parasites that travel to all unaffiliated enemies standing in connected Harrow.
Tides of War (Aspect): Activating melee will release a tsunami of Harrow in an aoe a bit larger than consecration. Enemies hit by the raging wave take massive damage and are Seethed. Wave leaves Harrow in its wake.
Beast Within (Super): Coat yourself in Soul Matter and emerge in a different form. A massive centipede with increased movement speed and trample damage. Light attack stops you, before lunging at enemies. Heavy attack is a massive charged leap. If charged all the way gain distance and release Harrow where you land. Press grenade to spit Despair at enemies

Grenades

Harrow Grenade: Can bounce. On detonation releases Harrow. Enemies hit will leave Harrow in their wake.
Bunkering Grenade: Sticks to surfaces but not enemies. When deployed projects a ring. Allies standing within the ring gain Envy. Enemies within Despair.

Hello, I’m from Canada and I was wondering if it’s possible to see Tanzania adequately in 2 weeks around late April/May of next year. Could probably squeeze out 16 days total to include weekends at the start and end.
I love the laying on the beach, snorkeling/swimming/surfing, power sightseeing, hiking (prefer 4 hours max solo or 8 hours max with a group), good food, good drinks, seeing animals, landscape photography and adventures. I don’t shop much when I travel so it’s not a priority.
Speed: I normally stay in a city 3-4 days max as I like to fit a lot into my trips.
Budget is not really an issue as I will go with a mix of frugal and splurge depending on what I’m spending on.
Would 2 weeks be enough to fly there (one way is just under 30 hours), check out the Serengeti (safari or hot air balloon) Zanzibar beaches (maybe get my open water PADI), do some hiking at national parks/craters, etc? I don’t plan to hike Kilimanjaro as I don’t have time for that and will want to do it with my partner in the future.

As a background, I was diagnosed with chronic depression and has been prescribed with an anti-depressant although I frequently forget to take it. Even prior to pregnancy, I am an extremely anxious person. I am the kind of person who thinks that I cannot be too happy else something really bad might happen after.
So just the other day, I purchased a tour package for our family composed of me, husband, my parents and sister, husband's mom, and my toddler who will be 23 months by date of travel).
Now, I feel this crippling anxiety and I almost broke down to tears just thinking that something wrong might happen with the trip. The anxiety is almost suffocating me and robbing me of the feeling to be excited. I don't know if it is a gut feeling that I should follow or if this is plain terrible anxiety.
I also suddenly dread airplanes. I'm not new to riding the plane, and I even enjoy riding planes so this feeling of anxiety is new to me. I guess the only difference is this is the first time that I will be traveling with my child, and also the first time that I'll be traveling with immediate family members.
I keep thinking over and over again, what if our plane crashes? Did I just doom my family? Each time I scroll through my phone and see something related to plane crashes, I feel like it is some sort of sign or signal to cancel the trip.
I also feel that this might be a new fear or phobia that will stay with me for a while -- travelling on air with my child. However, I think that if I am travelling alone, I will not have this kind of fear or anxiety.
I do plan to relay this with my psychiatrist who I see every month for my psych therapy sessions. I guess I would just like to know if other parents have a similar experience. What did you do? How did you overcome terrible anxiety?

Day One:
‘Hey, did it work? Can you hear me?’ the tinny, female voice asked. All was dark, then, light. Slowly, his vision cleared and he saw the sky. The sun. Then, a small floating thing that bobbed and danced excitedly over him. ‘You're alive! Finally! I've been looking for you for a long time Guardian!’ that same voice said. It seemed to be coming directly into his ear from a speaker. He sat up and placed his hands on his head. A helmet was there. He began to gasp and panic, trying to remove it. ‘Hey, what are you doing? Calm down….’ the voice said. The helmet disappeared. He drew in a breath. The air was foul with a fetid undertone.
‘What the fuck? What are you? Where am I?’ He asked the thing which was now spinning and dancing in front of him. He coughed and placed his arm over his mouth. The stench was almost unbearable. The helmet rematerialized as soon as he moved his arm.
‘Sorry, but the air here is toxic. Not lethal, but not pleasant. Too many corpses rotting. I replaced the helmet to filter it. My name is Cilla, and I'm a Ghost. YOUR Ghost. I'll explain more about that later, but the long and short of it is you were dead for centuries and I brought you back.’ it said.
‘Dead? Centuries? Wait…. Why can't I remember anything from before I woke up here, who am I?’ He asked. ‘And what do you mean a ghost? Like you're also a dead person?’
‘No, Guardian. I'm more like a piece of the Light that brought you back. It's a long story and we will have time to go over it. Let's get you moving though. We are a long way from the city, and this area hasn't been patrolled or swept like ever. We need to move, who knows what kind of threats have been hiding here’ Cilla said.
‘Where is here, exactly? And which city?’ He asked as he stood up. He looked down and saw he was wearing a kind of robe like garment with gloves, pants, and armored boots. An armlet was fastened around his bicep. ‘And what the fuck am I wearing?’
‘This was once called Romania I think, these are the Carpathian mountains. At least that's what historical records I could find indicate. And you are wearing armor Guardian. You are a Warlock, which means you are powerful, curious, and capable of amazing things. Let's get moving. Seriously, this isn't a safe place. You did die here once already after all.’
He looked around. There wasn't much to see other than the wild beauty of a dark forest run wild that had retaken the civilization that was wiped out. It was haunting and lovely. But there was a hint of something….. dark. He looked down, and saw he was standing on a pile of bones in the remains of an old uniform. A piece of metal twinkled in the ruins of it's ribs. He bent and picked it up. As he brushed the dirt and grit off he asked the Ghost ‘Was this me?’
‘No, your body was reconstituted, that was the one you were on top of….’ She said. He looked down at the tag he had picked up. It read ‘Kassien’
‘Well, then they don't need the name anymore, and apparently I don't have one…. I guess you can call me Kassien instead of guardian.’ He said.
Cilla swooped. ‘Kassien! I like it!’ She said and spun in the air. Her voice was pleasant and slightly sultry. Weird. ‘Now let's move. There is the remains of an installation a few kilometers away. We probably won't find a ship there but maybe some weapons and a way to contact the city.’ she said.
‘OK, let's go. You can fill me in as we walk. First off, what's a Warlock?’ he said. He jumped down off of the mound he had awoken on, and was shocked to find himself gliding slowly down to the ground. ‘What the fuck, I can fly?’ he asked.
‘Not exactly’ Cilla said laughing a bit. ‘Warlocks can glide amongst other abilities. Let's cover the basics as we walk’ she said. And as he walked she explained about the Traveler, the Darkness, the collapse from the Golden Age, and the Guardians. By the time they reached the ancient military facility, he was reeling with it all.
‘So, I'm a space wizard?’ Kass asked. He looked at his hands and concentrated. She claimed he had this power of light flowing through him, and wanted to test it out. At first there was nothing, then, a bright ball of yellowish orange energy flickered into existence in his hand. In his shock he lost his focus and it exploded, taking his hand and lower arm with it. Blood was everywhere. The pain was searing and intense. ‘What the fuck!? Cilla!’ He shouted. She popped out if his backpack and floated there. She did nothing. He bled and the world turned black.
Then he was back. His arm was fine. There wasn't even a singed thread on his glove. ‘What just happened?’ Kass asked. He flexed his hand. No pain. He felt fantastic.
‘Well, you tried to use your power, formed a grenade, blew your own arm off, and bled to death…’ she said. There was a slight bit of humor in her voice. ‘Then I brought you back. I could have healed it, but I thought it best to get the whole ‘You are going to die over and over’ thing out of the way. That is part of the deal, boss. You can die again and again and it hurts every time, but I will always bring you back as long as I am not destroyed or the Light isn't choked off by the Darkness.’ she said.
‘That's kind of fucked up, but yeah, rip the bandage off I guess….’ he said sardonically. He walked over to the dark, gaping entrance and peered inside. ‘Don't suppose you know where we could find a light, do you?’ Cilla made no reply, but floated over his left shoulder and shot a focused beam of bright light into the darkness. ‘Nice, Cilla’
‘Thanks, Boss!’ she said and spun in the air. ‘I scanned the area, looks like there was an armory not too far inside. Maybe there are some guns left. We need a weapon or fifty.’
‘From what you told me about all the creatures here, yeah could be a good idea. Do guns kill them?’
‘Oh yeah, if there is one thing Guardians can't have enough of it's guns.’
‘OK, let's find some firepower.’ Kass said. They stepped inside, leaving the sunlight behind. That would be one of the worst mistakes Kass and Cilla made on that first day.

I’ll be traveling to Greece (Athens) in a few months, and I’ll be honest, this is my first time traveling internationally, and I’m looking forward to my adventure. Thanks to everyone in this sub, I’ve been successful in getting my experiences booked and understanding locations and everything else.
I’m a bit nervous and have some basic questions to ask, so my apologies upfront if these questions are a bit basic, but given the advice I’ve received here, I’d love to learn from others.

• I’m staying for 9 days, and I have a 21-inch carry-on soft luggage I had purchased 8 years ago, still in good shape because I don’t travel with it much here in the states, but is that enough space for 9 days? Including a backpack, in case I buy things. I don’t mind paying for new luggage if recommended, but I was trying to determine if it's worth doing so. I’m kind of curious about the hardcase ones too, as they look nice and better. My luggage also has a TSA lock built-in; do I need to not lock it when I travel? I’m afraid they might tear the bag, but I hear most places have the key though.
  
• Based on my research, it doesn’t appear that I need to take out too much cash. I was thinking of taking $200 in Euros with me for street vendors, etc., to keep in small denominations. For the rest, I’ll use my card. Is this an okay amount for 9 days?
  
• Also - Maybe someone from the U.S can answer this question. When I fly back home to the states, I have 1 stop and 75 minutes to get to my next flight. I have Pre-TSA but not Global Entry. When I arrive in the states, do I need to wait in a customs line of sort to declare my goods? Will I have enough time to catch my plane? Or is this something that is done when I arrive at my hometown airport? Any advice on how to best handle this? I will be arriving from Athens to Washington where my first stop is, then home in California.
  
• Lastly, I’m just curious because I haven’t traveled much – what kind of accessories do you recommend taking? So far on my list, I have AirTags, Electricity Converters, Packing clothes cubes, a toiletry bag, and chargers. What else is recommended that you found to be useful on travels with you?
