2024.05.21 12:29 ImposterJavaDev Our degu appartment

Note: Very sorry for my loud breathing and general background noise, my camera just loves to pick it up, it's not that bad IRL 😃
What do you degu friends think? We're trying to give them the best life possible, and I'm feeling kinda proud.
I'd like to ask this community: What enrichments do you guys provide?
I normally have a grass box too, but most of the grasses died, so it's standing outside to pick up new life. I go get grass and dandelions from the garden regulary. I'm growing herbs too, from which they get to munch too.
I know there are 2 plastic plates, and I'm the first to advice against plastic, but they do not care about these 2. I check it everyday and would remove it if necessary. All the other plastic has been replaced with aluminum, or other solutions.
You can see the playing pen folded closed, it can extend to an extra 4 square meters, where we sit happily woth them and let then climb us. It also has a hard plastic wheel, but they don't have access to this one without supervision.
I'm just so in love with these fur potatoes. I'm thinking about opening a shelter for all those old and lonely degoes that lost their buddies... Just as a note to others keeping degus: 2 works for a while, but please keep at least 3 or 4, so when the inevitable grim reaper passes, you're other degus can still find sollace with eachother. If you don't have the place for 3, you don't have place for degus imo. But not attacking anyone, I've bought 2 on a whim and started to research them afterwards, so I was shocked about their needs and started to upgrade from there. They've lived in a too small cage with the wrong bedding and wrong wood, so I've made my share of mistakes.

2024.05.21 12:21 LinkInTheParks What fantasy novels feature Death as a character?

I'm looking for suggestions for fantasy novels where the personification of Death is a main/reoccurring character. Whether he is a brutal grim reaper or an ally I'm not too fussed. I don't know how common books with Death as a character are in the fantasy genre, but I'm hoping you guys can do some Reddit magic to give me a good amount of suggestions! My favourite books are usually combat filled with a some comedy like Kings of the Wyld, but I'd be happy with some really dark stuff as well.

2024.05.21 11:54 Glittering_Glinger EDF 5 Survivors

I just finished EDF 5’s story today and I just had a few questions I felt were left unanswered or confused me when I reached the ending. I do plan on playing 6 in the future so I’m sorry if that game answers any of my questions
  1. Are the Grim Reaper Fencers the same ones that were declared storm when we reclaimed Base 228?
  2. Which storm squad wasn’t able to be saved? From what I understand there’s: the wing diver storms, fencer storms, Sargent’s squad, and us. They mention during mission 109 or 110 that we can’t send reinforcements to save a storm squad but it seems we’re all here
  3. I was really upset when I thought the commander dude had died during the mission where communication said she’d be taking over after an attack on a base, then got super hype when he said he was hiding underground next mission. That being said, does Sarge survive the final missions 109 & 110? He says at the beginning of 109, “don’t you die before me” and I don’t recall hearing him during 110 (I was on a call).
  4. Is EDF 5 is a soft reboot of the series or is it a a separate timeline in the same universe as EDF 2017 & 2025?
Once again I apologize if any of these questions are answered next game or I missed something mentioned in the game about this. Thanks in advance!

2024.05.21 05:52 Number1022 Ever have a smokey grim reaper dream or real life experience?

Many years ago as a teenager i had a scary dream. and out of no where at dinner i interjected with my recount. I was walking down the basement stairs and i turn back and see a glance of a shadow type puff of smoke that has a defined movement like its on its way to or from somewhere. Maybe 4-5 mph not quit a run but a swift walking speed. Through a threshold and towards a small window. In the dream the shape slowed and made contact with me but i could not see eyes or hear anything, just a certain feeling of being acknowledged. A quick pause and it continued on its way i run to look in dream and its gone. As i am telling the story my older brother and father look at eachother and my mom says whats wrong? My brother tells the story of him and his friend matt and the family dog tuffy going down the stairs and all three encountered the image. My brother and matt ran up screaming and crying and matt at that time was over 21 and still refused to go in the house. The dog stayed frozen at the bottom of the stairs barking towards the shape. Then dad tells the story he was home alone fixing hot water heater in basement not at bottom of stairs but behind where i saw in dream and where brothefriend saw it. He said his hair stood up on end and his neck tingled so he he got up off his knees and turns and was face to face with it. He said he shouted at it and it quickly flew out the window at the front of the house where i saw it coming FROM but brother and friend saw it going TOWARDs. So yes there was a oil furnace where the origin of this smokey shape came from but it seemed to communicate, make its prescemce known, and be present in etheral plane. So when i read stories about the marvel character the void im like … so odd it perfectly describes the image/smoke. But so does a kikimora and the grim reaper so I have to ask… are basement ghosts or grim reapers something some of yall have seen in real life or a lucid dream? Thank you for reading and any stories of your own you dont mind sharing! Fwiw its been over 20 years since i had the dream but im convinced from brother and fathers separate stories maybe like the steep bridge thing, its a psychological construct from divergent instability

2024.05.21 03:57 SirGronk I picked up Wayfarer and Mother of Graves at a show yesterday

I picked up Wayfarer and Mother of Graves at a show yesterday
I found out about Wayfarer a few months ago, and they have quickly become a personal favorite. I HAD to come out of "concert retirement" when they came to my town yesterday. And of course I had to pick up the vinyl of the album I relentlessly stream (awesome insert pictured in background). They were, predictably, super amazing live.
But one of the opening bands completely blew me away. Mother of Graves does a melodic death/doom SO WELL. A perfect mix of mid-tempo brutal death metal and melancholic doom. Tasteful guitar harmonies, memorable melodies, gruff vocals, and really great songwriting. All pulled off expertly in a live setting. (I'm a bit out of touch with the genre, so forgive me if this comparison is not the most accurate - but I'd say they combine elements of Pallbearer and Fires in the Distance remarkably well.) So yeah, I had to pick up that vinyl too.

2024.05.21 03:40 tonalix2317 First Kylo Ren concept art.

First Kylo Ren concept art.
First concept art of Kylo Ren for the new trilogy
One of the very first concept arts for the new trilogy for Kylo Ren, here they wanted to show his devotion and fanaticism for darth vader, nevertheless the artwork team scraped lots of ideas to make more “family friendly” Disney really wanted to hit on nostalgic fibers and this design probably was kind of scary for the new “villian” like a vader 2.0 with a inestable red lightsaber and a big metalic skull mask like a grim reaper was probably too much for Disney producers and they chosed that classic Kylo look for the new movies this high school “bad boy” look , personally I would chose this one, give me the vibes of an evil medieval knight and the death with the sith cloak, what you think?

2024.05.21 00:14 divergentstar Can you invite grim reaper over?

So when one of my sims died by accident (died of being hysterical), the grim reaper came over and my little girl just started talking to the grip reaper, the friendship bar got filled quite a bit before he left. I think the bar will degrade over time when you don't spend time with that sim/friend. So I wonder if you can invite the grim reaper over or how you can spend time with them to work on the friendship. I kinda want the grim reaper to be her best friend now.

Price Check Help?
I collect and resell vintage clothing but finding info on specific Affliction shirts are very difficult. I just sold what I know is a rare one to somebody and I'm pretty sure he got a good deal on it. But he's asking about six other shirts among the 15 or 20 that I have.
Is there anything super rare here? He's offering $40 a shirt. I can really only find the grim reaper on a couple sites and the skull with wings on one site but no sales associated.
I don't even want to mention the one that I sold because I'm sure I'll have people sending me offers.

2024.05.20 16:58 OranReilly Need help with planning a proposal!

Hi there! I’d love to get some help and ideas from people about planning a proposal to my partner.
We ended up looking at engagement rings last September (impromptu), and she found one she loved. We bought a house in December and should be moving in next month, so I just started saving a little pot for her engagement ring. I’d rather get it before it goes out of the shop and hold onto it if necessary.
We’ve discussed proposals and marriage many times in passing and she had a wishlist of sorts.
She loves Halloween and pumpkins, and wants pumpkins to definitely be part of the proposal. She would like it to be in a pumpkin patch to fulfil that part, but isn’t bound to that idea (I am concerned that we will have to wear wellies and the pumpkin patches near us are kind of cute but maybe not special enough for a proposal. I haven’t ruled it out though).
She doesn’t want it to be public (I think if it was in a pumpkin patch, we’d be away from other people there).
It has to be around October time, because pumpkins, and it’s her favourite time of year.
I had one idea where I could ask her to dress fancy for a meal and I would pick her up after work in a suit, ‘forget’ something at home and have to go back for it. But in actual fact I’ve taken the day off to set up the house to be cute, maybe with pumpkins with ‘will you marry me?’ carved into it? This could be terribly corny so I won’t be offended if people feel that way, it’s just an idea.
Then after, we could celebrate with a dinner.
Anyway, I wondered if people had experiences and ideas to share that could help me brainstorm 😁 thank you all
