So, it’s been suggested that we present a simplified overview of the recent essays (linked below) that I co-wrote with respected analyst Hanna Kahlert, of renowned London-based MIDiA Research, which covered so much territory of interconnected concepts that all affect the current and future viability of the music industry. This summary eschews the essays’ “$10 words,” (with the exception of using “eschews” here!) with which some have struggled, and is shared in the bite-sized, more digestible form of a survey and petition in combination with this summary/bullet point preface of some of the most salient points. The survey and petition presents the essence of our thesis in the uncomplicated context of a proactive social impact campaign format.
First, let me explain. I grew up in a Long Island suburb town (about thirty miles outside New York City) during the “English Invasion” of music. I’d first hear new releases on my FM clock radio tuned to stations that prided themselves on finding the “cool stuff” first. It was a time when we were met almost every day with another astounding, mind-blowing record and artist to discover, often with something worth thinking about and culturally significant. Sometimes these releases would even be life-changing. Many of these recordings would become iconic — classic evergreens with songs covered endlessly. Yes, like today, there were also dismissable records then. The difference would seem to be that there are more songs about nothing today, replete with de rigeur profanity that only further detracts and is anything but “cool." While there are some very imaginative productions and impressive singers, there are few records now that demand a cerebral, emotional response, and there is a dearth that will be remembered as moving the needle at all, so to speak. Even customary love themes are largely just recycled imitations of the greats.
Since I also relate to the sensitivity of empaths — someone attuned to the deep feelings of those around them at a personal level — I tend to gravitate to music with a message that connects with us viscerally, that which touches the soul. Especially in our currently fraught times, there clearly is a need for thought-provoking music and for more attention given to the evolution of this genre of what was once deemed “protest songs.” Socially poignant music is a category that disguises protest in metaphors and yet is just as potent. It will create community and superfans, lift spirits, and engender a large movement of positive social advocacy. I established Socially Driven Music to develop and market #Music4APurpose. The concept resonated with Hanna Kahlert and we set about to co-write what we envision.
While developing our conclusions towards offering actionable, viable value-propositions for the music industry, we took several months to sort our ideas, research, digest and assimilate the daily deluge of information about changes battering the music industry. While I wasn’t aware that Mark Mulligan, MIDiA’s Founder and Managing Director, was developing his “Bifurcation Theory,” it is validating to be in sync with his thinking and to be presenting what I consider to be the roadmap to implementing that theory. I am excited about offering takeaways that will hopefully propel many away from feelings of helpless, hopeless despair and towards optimism and positive activism through the enrapture we seek from our music and the communities built around it.
Socially driven music has traditionally been a powerful way to raise awareness about issues across the board, such as Discrimination, Climate, Democracy, Mental Health, Bullying, Substance Abuse, Antisemitism, Equality, Homelessness, Veterans, Suicide,Terrorism, Gun Control, Women’s Productive Rights, Food and Clean Water Insecurity, Cancer and other illnesses, Animal Rights/Protection, Environmental Justice, Oceans, LGBTQ+ rights, etc. Our mandate recognizes the crucial difference of a sustained campaign animated by a song.
Above all, we must always remember and honor “The Greatest Generation” (and all Veterans) who fought and died upholding ideals that they expected us to continue to respect. Political affiliation is most often indoctrinated and not questioned individually. Support traditional Republican philosophy if you must, but #MAGA is not the antidote to Democrats and is authoritarian and dangerous to our democracy!
All causes, including music rights, are affected by the influence of a common denominator — politics. Each social cause group is a large community which can be further grown and energized with the natural evolution of fans to music superfans. Compelling socially thematic music enraptures and beckons fans to demonstrate their proud commonality and membership in a next generation fan club that can actually impact society with its fervor and political influence.

I am not a locksmith, but I work for a door hardware company with a keying department. Whenever we get particularly complex jobs they always get handed to me because I'm the one who can figure them out best, especially if there is lots of cross-keying involved. We currently use a program called MasterKing (which I think may be older than I am), and I find it extremely lacking. My company is doing lots of work upgrading their infrastructure right now, so pitching a license to a better software is totally on the table, is there an industry standard that is generally agreed to be the best?
If not, what features do you find are often missing that you would really enjoy? I find MasterKing uses a really inefficient algorithm to generate codes that wastes lots of possibilities and it's cross-keying algorithm is far worse than doing it by hand; it often claims things are impossible when they aren't, and often creates much more incidental conflicts than it needs to.

I tried the deens. I can't get over the fish smell but lack of richness and saltiness. I had King Oscar with olive oil. It wasn't awful but.. not great.
On the other hand I'm rabid for salmon and anchovies. The King Oscar lemon and Mediterranean salmon are so good to me. I'm on a budget and trying to also eat healthier.
I also love anchovies but never had any at home that were not like eating a scouring pad. At restaurants they're tender and salty and perfect. I think these are "white" anchovies.
Any recommendations on either so I can branch out in a budget way? Also, NO is a complete answer.

With the series (Showtime one) reaching its quarter-century anniversary next year I recently decided to revisit this series and one thing I'd love to see is a sequel to this landmark program.
The plot would basically start with all the characters from the original series being brought together, possibly for a funeral. We're quickly introduced to adult versions of Gus (now a sexually active pansexual) and Jenny (a nerdy young straight ally with a fondness for gay porn and yaoi), along with the new generation of LGBTQIA+ denizens of Liberty Avenue.
Gus and Jenny will essentially be the Brian and Michael of this story, the former inheriting his father's penchant for sexual activity, albeit with a pansexual bent, while the latter inherits her father's nerdy interests in comics and retro kitsch along with a love for yaoi and retro gay porn. Along the way they'll cross paths with a host of new friends, new lovers, new experiences and sadly new enemies.
I'm thinking Nico Greetham as Gus and Sophia Caruso as Jenny.
As for possible new characters (not finalized names):

• Theo Germaine as Dez, a possible love interest for Jenny
• Jordan Alexander as Myla, an employee at Michael's comic book store who finds kinship with Jenny over their love of anime and manga
• David Yost as Maxwell, a possible love interest for Gus, possibly one that mirrors Justin's relationship with Brian but except here, Maxwell is a recently-out older gay man looking for love and lovestruck with the anti-romantic Gus
• Kevin McHale as Declan, Emmet's nephew. In his teens, he got outed and ran away from home to avoid getting sent to a conversion therapy camp. He eventually got adopted by Emmet and his partner.
• Samira Wiley as Nicolette, Myla's older sister. When she's not managing The Big Q, she's part of a drag king group.
• Niecy Nash as Aunt Alma, Myla and Nicolette's aunt. Her real name is Velma but she's primarily known for her bombastic AFAB drag queen persona, Aunt Alma, who serves as a drag mother to Jenny's drag persona that Jenny develops as a means of working through her confidence issues.

TL;DR: My car overheated in the desert and a AAA-affiliate shop says the engine should be replaced at great cost, and provided a P0117 code and low compression numbers for my cylinders in the diagnosis. While I'm sure that P0117 would be expected, I can't believe that it would be the only one if the engine is blown. I'm pretty sure I'm being scammed.
Back-story: I was driving my 2002 Honda Civic EX with just 119,000 miles 75-80mph until it slowed a bit and would not accelerate. Nearby driver shouted that it was smoking. I pulled over. There was indeed smoke but not a huge cloud and it smelled like oil burning. I had my oil changed the day before. There had been no indication of trouble, the temp indicator was not high and I had been checking because I was in the desert, midday. I had briefly turned on the AC but it had been off for a while because I'm paranoid about overheating. I called AAA and after a long wait I was towed to a AAA-affiliated shop in a small city nearly 200 miles from home. During the wait for the tow after letting it cool for maybe a half-hour, it wouldn't start.
The shop charged $160 for a diagnosis, which they said was catastrophic. They said the radiator had been leaking and there was no coolant, which caused the engine to basically fry. I would need a complete new engine and I got the estimate down to about $6200.
At first I rejected the idea of replacing the engine. However, I was stuck and it seemed my only option since I am not earning a lot right now to get a new car. I left it there with the plan to arrange the financing of this bill and then they would order the enginer and it would take about a week to be done. I took a 7-hour Greyhound bus ride home. But since returning home, I began questioning.
I read the docs they provided and it said the diagnosis ran the computer codes but didn't list them. I messaged to request them and he said it was on the repair order. I checked again, it's not there. He emailed me the repair order with the same ID and timestamp but it had been altered with the addition of the code and some other stuff like my email address that I had just given him.
I reiterated that the code was not on my printout and provided photo of it next to the screen of the emailed repair order and he replied in all caps 'IT IS ON ALL VERSION IN THE SAME SPOT.' Clearly, it's not on my printout though. Red flag.
I assumed that a blown engine would generate a list of codes. The only code is P0117, which relates to the temperature sensor. He also provided in the printout these compression numbers: Cyl 1: 55, Cyl 2: 30, Cyl 3: 50, Cyl 4: 80. He had said they should be at about 200.
I now wonder about the radiator leak because I hadn't seen leaks in my parking space, and they may have checked coolant during the oil change (not sure). The shop had gotten it to start, which also makes me wonder if it's really in that bad of condition.
I had trusted this place as a AAA shop but checked the reviews on Google. The average rating is over 4 stars but there are plenty of 1-star "ripoff" reviews. I am now arranging my friend with a GMC pickup to drive up there and tow it back, and not let him know until we get there because now I don't trust them at all. I'll just keep stalling.
Does one P0117 code seem strange? My local mechanic says the alteration of the repair order alone is sketchy.

Just got done drying my eyes and trying to come down from the death of Cassius. What a beautiful well written character. From douchebag to brother to scumbag to hero. His arc was truly astounding to me. The back and forth he had with Darrow was one of the best parts in this book for me. Like Cassius was legit funny to me, his quips and banter made a book that was just as bleak as dark age in some parts made it feel so much more digestible. Also I’m not gonna lie I really shipped him and Lyria, I got so giddy when she said she used to blush every time he saw her. Cassius was the true highlight of the book for me.
Darrow’s plight and quest to rediscover himself was refreshing. The mental battle that he had to wage was interesting to watch. Him having it out with Sevro was pretty cool moment too. Best friends sometimes fight and It nice to see them make up and Severo come back to fold.
The action in this book was awesome I know everyone likes Dark Age’s action scenes, but the fight with the Obsidian Fake King felt like a damn anime fight to me. CLANG CLANG CONFESS is such a cold hard line I loved every minute of it. The villains in this book were numerous and compelling. Lysander stole the show for me, watching his slow descent to evil was a treat. I haven’t hated a fictional character like I have hated him in a long time. I hated reading his chapters because this little shit head keeps winning. I want him to feel the stress and anxiety that Darrow feels constantly. Hoping Red God delivers that in some capacity.
Overall, this series is amazing. I haven’t felt this giddy about a book series since I read the Horus Hersey. The world Brown has built is so full and rich. Years of history and social constructs, brutality of war and hatred, love for your family and friends. This book series has it all. I remember reading the first RR book and thinking “huh so this is hunger games in space pft okay” boy I was so wrong. I can’t be believe how small the stakes were back then. Back when Darrow biggest issue was wishing he had some bread to go along with his meat in the institute. I heard some people complain that after Morning Star the reading isn’t as good. Idk what they were smoking because this shit is amazing.
My only question to you guys is what do you want out of Red God? I’m not sure if Brown is done after that but would you want prequels? Immediate sequels or ones set far in the future? Personally, some prequels about the fall of earth would be awesome. They refer to the American and Indian Empires final stands against Luna a lot in the series. I really want more nitty gritty details on that story. Anyways, thanks for reading my post. It was more of ramble but I just finished the book and I’m in shock kinda. Here’s to waiting for Red God!

Hello, I'm looking to buy a house and I got the below from the inspection company that my realtor is reocmmending. This is the second home I've bought and the first home it was much more straight forward as it was a slightly newer build and was a townhouse. The house is very well maintained and looks like whoever has been living there the last 10 years has taken a lot of effort to ensure the place is practically spotless for a house built in 1979

The Premium Package
The Premium Package is our most popular choice, the most thorough inspection, and the best value for your dollar. This inspection includes a checklist that will encompass the entire home inspection process (i.e. structure and foundation; a representative sample of windows, doors, lights, and receptacles; moisture detection; attic and crawlspace areas; roof, gutters, and drainage; walls, floors, and ceilings; porches and decks; plumbing systems and fixtures in kitchens, baths, and laundries; electrical sytems and breaker panels; HVAC; built-in appliances; and a general check for wood destroying organisms*). Everything is compiled for you on-site so that when we are done, you have all the information provided in a printed report which is computer-generated with color photos and presented to you in a professional binder. Inside the binder, you will find a seasonal maintenance checklist, a cost guide for remodeling and repairs, and a filing system to keep track of receipts. Since Pillar To Post is the largest home inspection company in North America, we have alliances with many vendors on services you may need as a homeowner. In addition, we use infrared technology that allows us to check the electrical system to detect overheating circuit wires and breakers and for any hidden water leaks that would not normally be seen by the naked eye. Also included is a Rodent Inspection, Visual Summary with Measured Floor Plans, and a Centriq Report.
Infrared Scan - Using the most technologically advanced tools available allows us to detect moisture in wet areas of the home (i.e. kitchens and bathrooms and around windows and doors) that is invisible to the human eye. The use of these tools also enables us to locate areas throughout the home or structure that have overheating or malfunctioning electrical components (i.e. breakers and electrical panels). This work can make a critical difference during the home inspection process.
Centriq Report - During your inspection, we will capture the information of up to five major home appliances and provide you with a computerized report on any safety recalls for those appliances using the Centriq app. Centriq is a home inventory and maintenance platform designed to monitor for appliance recalls and track user manuals, parts, and support videos for your home. During the inspection, the inspector will add appliances and systems from the home into the Centriq app, and you will receive a Centriq recall report via e-mail within 48 hours. You will also have the option of adding items to the app in the future.
Rodent Inspection - In addition to our high quality, comprehensive home inspection which will highlight past or present infestation, we will also investigate and report on conditions in the home that are conducive to rodent activity so that you may be pre-emptive in the containment and control of these potential issues before a problem occurs. This includes checking for points of entry and signs of nesting, especially in the crawlspace of the home.
PTP360 - During our inspection, we will construct an interactive virtual tour that will provide you with 360° visuals of your future home. It will include thumbnails with comments and photos from your inspection report in relation to their location within the home. This feature also includes measured floor plans to aid you in any future projects or home planning.
Lifetime Maintenance Advisory Service - Following our inspection, and your purchase of the home, we will provide advice and answer your questions on home maintenance, the inspection report, and other home-related topics for as long as you own the home. Enhanced Customer Service Commitment - Our aim is to provide you with quality reporting and excellent customer care. If you are not satisfied with our service, we will pay another inspection company of your choice to inspect your home again up to the value of your investment with our company.
*During each of our inspections, we do a general check for Wood Destroying Organisms (i.e. carpenter ants, termites, and wood-boring beetles) as well as evidence of dry rot. We do not, however, list the specific insects observed without the purchase of a WDO report. This is due to Oregon's home inspection laws regarding the reporting of Pest & Dry Rot information, sometimes required by lenders. If you do not need your report to specifically state which insects are or are not observed at the time of inspection, you may not need to add the WDO report to your inspection package. Please check with your loan officer before considering this add-on option and let us know if we can provide you with any further clarification.

The Prestige Package
This package provides you with additional peace of mind. It includes everything that comes with the Premium Package, as well as an air-mold anaylsis and a screen of the home for common allergens (i.e. cat, dog, cockroach, and dust mites), benefiting those who suffer from allergies, asthma, or immune deficiencies. It uses the most up-to-date technology to determine potential health risks in those areas and recommendations for further action.
Healthy Home Package - Houses safeguard the lives of the people who live in them. Increasingly so, it is known that poor air quality, including allergens, can pose potential health risks if not detected and addressed. Indeed, if someone in your home suffers from allergies, asthma, chronic sinus issues, or other breathing disorders, poor air quality becomes critical to their love and enjoyment of the home. In addition, mold can eventually cause structural damage to your home.
The Pillar To Post Healthy Home Package provides: -An air quality sampling to test for molds and allergens that may be present in the home, identified and verified through a certified third-party laboratory analysis. -An easy-to-read report that helps you understand what was found and a recommended course of action to follow. -The knowledge of what you need to do to protect your investment and, at the same time, make your home a healthier place for you and your family to live.
Please keep in mind that the results of the mold and allergen tests take 5-7 business days to get back to us. We will provide you with those reports as soon as they are available.
The cost of the healthy home package is $ 1388.75 You would also get a 30% discount of any Added Service options.

The Plus Package
This package is our third offering and the most basic whole house inspection we provide. It is just like the Premium inspection but without the extras(Infrared Technology, Rodent Inspection, Visual Summary with Measured Floor Plans, and Centriq Report).
Selecting this package does not provide any discounts on various Added Service options. The cost of this package is $ 505.00
