2024.05.13 20:07 RoninOctopus501 2002 Buick LeSabre Oil Drain Plug Torque- go with specific or "hand tighten then 1/2in turn"

Hey everyone. I wanted to do my own oil and start to learn how to do other DIY aspects on my 2002 Buick LeSabre of a glorious 40,000 miles. I sort of wanted to go and replace all that I think needs replacing now rather than inherently wait for something to happen. For now it's the engine air filter and the oil! Yay!
I'm going to head out to grab all of what I need, but I keep seeing different videos and reading totally different answers regarding the tools used for the drain plug.
  1. I use a torque wrench specifically to the torque of the drain plug. Totally fine but I'm clueless of knowing how much torque is required. Any info would be a godsend.
  2. I use a typical combination wrench and Neanderthal the thing by hand tightening the drain plug then giving a 1/2 turn.
What should I use and how necessary are crush washers? Are there a specific type of crush washers I need?
Any help would be great and I appreciate your time reading and answering.

2024.05.13 14:26 sonofabutch No game today, so let's remember a forgotten Yankee: Horace Clarke

"I played major league baseball for parts of 10 years, and I played in the magnificent city of New York, and as a child in St. Croix that was beyond dreams. Yes, I am a happy man." -- Horace Clarke
The worst stretch of Yankee baseball since the Highlander days, the mid 60s to the mid 70s, is remembered by those who lived through it as the Horace Clarke Era. Unfairly or not, the bespectacled switch-hitting middle infielder from the U.S. Virgin Islands came to symbolize all that was wrong with the Yankees in those sad years.
Horace Meredith Clarke grew up on the island of St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands. He was just the fifth player from the U.S. Virgin Islands to play in the majors, and the first Yankee. His father had grown up playing cricket, and because there were no youth baseball leagues on the island, young Horace played softball. He said he didn't see his first baseball game until around age 13, when he saw some U.S. Navy sailors playing.
“We were poor kids in St. Croix. We played on a field which was right on the ocean and had no fences. We couldn’t afford baseballs. So the coach made the lefthanded batters hit righthanded and the righthanded batters hit lefthanded. This was so they couldn’t hit the ball so far. It saved us from losing the baseballs in the ocean.”
Clarke was spotted by a Yankee scout in the Caribbean and assigned to the lowest run of the Yankee farm system -- the Kearney Yankees in Class D ball. Imagine being an 18-year-old kid from St. Croix in the Caribbean, and arriving in Kearney, Nebraska in the spring of 1958. The culture shock must have been overwhelming. Maybe not surprisingly, Clarke hit a disappointing .225/.322/.283 in 187 at-bats. He said the biggest adjustment wasn't the cold weather, but night games played under the lights, something he'd never done before.
The following year Horace was in the Florida State League, and he thrived in the warmer weather, hitting .293/.375/.366 in 571 at-bats. He also stole 34 bases that year. The year after that, he was back up north, playing for Fargo in the Northern League, and hit .307/.389/.369 in 537 at-bats. The following year was Amarillo in the Texas League, where he hit .300/.364/.429.
Then the next three years in the International League, where he hit .281/.345/.352 in 1,494 at-bats while playing shortstop and second base.
But despite Clarke's promise, he was blocked by Bobby Richardson. By the time Clarke had reached Triple-A at age 24 in 1963, the 27-year-old Richardson had already been a four-time All-Star, a two-time Gold Glove winner, and had won three World Series rings... plus the MVP for the 1960 World Series, the only time in baseball history a player for the losing team won the award!
But the Yankees knew Richardson was planning on retiring, so they kept Clarke waiting in the wings. He opened the year with the Toledo Mud Hens, then the Yankees' Triple-A team, and then after a month he finally got the call to the show.
Fifty-nine years ago today, on May 13, 1965, Clarke was sent up to the plate in the 7th inning as a pinch hitter to make his major league debut in a game the Yankees were losing, 4-1, to the Boston Red Sox in Fenway Park.
Clarke, facing Dave Morehead, beat out an infield single. It was a promising beginning. But, as if scripted to be symbolic of his career, Clarke's success was short-lived as the next batter bounced into a fielder's choice. Forced out at second base, Clarke watched the rest of the game from the dugout. The next day he'd get the start and go 0-for-4.
Hitting .250/.298/.269 at the end of June as a utility infielder, Clarke was sent back down to Toledo for two months to get more regular playing time. It helped. When he returned on September 3 -- coincidentally, also against the Red Sox -- he went 3-for-5 with an RBI. Overall that month, Clarke hit .273/.298/.327, and for the season, .262/.298/.299 in 115 plate appearances. But the Yankees, the reigning A.L. champions for the past five seasons, finished a shocking 77-85, all the way in sixth place.
That off-season, Phil Linz -- the harmonica playing utility infielder -- was traded to the Phillies, opening up a roster spot for Clarke. Richardson, though only 31, had told the Yankees he would retire at the end of the 1966 season, and the Yankees wanted him to mentor Clarke as his successor.
Clarke started just seven games over the first half, but a series of injuries forced him into regular service. Over the second half, he played almost every day, hitting .276/.334/.404 in 300 plate appearances. He was mostly used at shortstop, where his defense wasn't great, but in 16 games at second base he looked good enough that the Yankees were confident he could be a regular there. Yankee fans were no doubt a little sad when Richardson officially announced to the press on August 31 that it was his last season, but at least we knew who would be playing second base the following year.
Indeed, second base was the least of the Yankees' problems. New York finished dead last at 70-89 in 1966, the team's worst performance since 1925, as injuries fell Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris, Elston Howard, and Whitey Ford.
Entering 1967 as the starting second baseman, Clarke hit a solid .272/.321/.316 (94 OPS+) in 633 plate appearances while leading the league in fielding percentage, assists, and range factor as a second baseman. He also stole 21 bases in 25 tries, a second-best .840 SB%. His 3.7 bWAR that year was better than any season Richardson ever had -- his career high was 3.2 bWAR in 1962.
The following year, the Yankees finished 83-79 -- above .500 for the first time in four seasons -- but a whopping 34.5 games out. Clarke had one of the worst years of his career, hitting .230/.258/.254 (60 OPS+) as he played through injuries all year.
He rebounded in 1969 to .285/.339/.467 (101 OPS+), with 33 stolen bases. It was, statistically, the best season of his career (3.9 bWAR). But once again the Yankees were terrible -- 28.5 games out.
In 1970, Clarke again disappointed, hitting .251/.286/.309 (68 OPS+). The Yankees won 93 games that year, but it amounted to naught as the Orioles ran away with the pennant, going 108-54 to win it by 15 games. In fact, it was pretty much over by July, with the Yankees 7 games out at the All-Star break.
It was around this time that Yankee fans began focusing their frustration on Clarke. One New York sportswriter routinely referred to him as "Horrible Horace". Miscast as a leadoff man -- he had a career .308 OBP -- and criticized for "bailing out" on double plays, manager Ralph Houk years later offered a tepid defense of his second baseman:
“I know I got a lot of criticism for playing Horace Clarke as much as I did, but he was a lot better ballplayer than anyone gave him credit for. He did a lot of things good but nothing great, and that was his problem. Besides, I didn’t have anyone else.”
The lack of a replacement was certainly an issue. In 1971, there was talk in The Sporting News about a prospect named Fred Frazier being the heir apparent to Clarke at second base. That year, Frazier hit a disappointing .261/.316/.313 in Triple-A; the next year, .216/.302/.281. The year after that, he was in the Orioles organization. He never made it out of the minors.
In fact, Clarke was the only constant in the Yankee infield in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The Yankees during the, ahem, Horace Clarke Era had holes everywhere, with a revolving door at first base, third base, and shortstop. For five years, from 1967 to 1971, Clarke was the Opening Day starter at second base; during that same stretch, there were five different third basemen, five different third basemen, and three different shortstops. Between 1967 and 1973, he started 1,017 games at second base, or 90% of all Yankee games.
But that, explained Yankees PR man Marty Appel, was kind of the problem. "Fans especially didn’t like the second baseman, the beleaguered Horace Clarke, whose major flaw seemed to be longevity. It wasn’t his fault that no one better came along, and he was a better player than the fans gave him credit for. But because he was out there, year after year, he came to stand for this disappointing run by the club."
"I always did my best. I always played as hard as I could. I never was concerned about how the fans reacted to me." -- Horace Clarke
The following year Clarke hit .250/.321/.318 in 696 plate appearances, but the Yankees again were out of it, finishing 82-80 in 1971.
Yankee fans had been miserable since 1965, but frustration with the team in general -- and Clarke in particular -- reached a boiling point in 1972. It had been seven years since the Yankees had been in the post-season, and 1972 was the first year the Yankees had the playoffs within our grasp since winning the pennant in 1964. (The "closest and latest" the Yankees had been since the 1965 season was 9 games out of 1st place on September 8, 1970.)
On September 12, 1972, the Yankees were a half-game out of 1st place at 74-64, with 17 games left to go in the season. The Red Sox were in 1st at 73-62, the Orioles tied with New York at 74-64, and the Tigers a half-game behind at 73-64. Over the rest of the season, the Yankees went a heartbreaking 5-12, while the Tigers won 13 out of 19 to win the A.L. East.
There was plenty of blame to go around for that collapse, but Yankee fans were particularly irate at Clarke, who hit .225/.267/.296 during those final 17 games.
To his credit, Clarke never complained about the boos from fans or the criticism in the press. As quoted by Dick Young in the New York Daily News in 1972:
"Sure, I would feel bad when I saw in the papers that, 'the Yankees can never win the pennant with that guy at second base.' But why get mad. I figure that's his opinion, and he's entitled to it. I must have been able to do something. Don't tell me a ballplayer can fool a manager for seven years."
Years later, Thurman Munson said his adversarial relationship with the media was based on how Horace Clarke was treated.
In 1973, the 34-year-old Clarke hit .263/.317/.308 (80 OPS+), his defense was no longer among the league leaders, and the Yankees were once again double-digit games behind by Labor Day.
It was finally time to move on. That off season, the Yankees acquired 23-year-old utility infielder Jim Mason from the Texas Rangers and installed him as the starting shortstop for the upcoming 1974 season; Gene Michael, the Yankees' on-again, off-again shortstop since 1968, was moved to second base; and Clarke to the bench. It wasn't exactly an earth-shattering move -- Mason was coming off a season in which he hit .206/.273/.290, and Michael .225/.270/.278. If anything, the two represented a substantial downgrade from Clarke's numbers. (By bWAR the previous season, Clarke was still the best option of the three, 0.6 compared to Mason's -0.7 and Michael's -0.9.)
After hitting .234/.294/.255 in 53 plate appearances as a pinch hitter and spot starter, on May 31, 1974, the Yankees finally ended the Horace Clarke Era by selling his contract to the San Diego Padres along with minor league pitcher Lowell Palmer for $25,000. At the time of the deal, Clarke was still the Yankees' best option at second base as Mason was hitting .214/.287/.307 and Michael a putrid .134/.224/.179!
Six weeks later, the Yankees tried to address their second base problem again by acquiring former All-Star Sandy Alomar from the Angels. Alomar, who fathered major leaguers Sandy Jr. and Roberto, played for the Yankees for the next two and a half seasons, hitting .248/.287/.302... again, worse than Horace's career average of .256/.308/.313.
And yet getting rid of Horace Clarke immediately turned around the Yankees' fortunes. With Horace, the Yankees were 23-27, the worst record in the American League; without him, a second-best 66-46. New York finished 89-73, just two games behind the Baltimore Orioles.
The Yankees finally found a solution to the second base problem on December 11, 1975, trading previously forgotten Yankee Doc Medich to the Pirates for Dock Ellis, Ken Brett, and a 20-year-old prospect named Willie Randolph.
Meanwhile, Clarke went to San Diego and hit .189/.255/.200 in 99 plate appearances. He was released at the end of the season and retired. He was a frequent attendee at Yankee Old Timers' Games, and promoted baseball in the U.S. Virgin Islands. He died at age 81 on August 5, 2020, from complications due to Alzheimer's disease.
The Clarke Side
"I remember the first game I played in Yankee Stadium in 1965. There were more than 40,000 people in the stands. I had just come from my country where there are 30,000 people in the entire country. That was some adjustment." -- Horace Clarke
Overall, Horace Clarke hit .257/.309/.315 in 5,144 plate appearances as a Yankee. His numbers aren't quite as bad as they appear, as he played during one of the lowest offense eras since deadball... an 84 OPS+. That ranks him ahead of fondly-remembered Yankees like Shelley Duncan (81 OPS+), Rick Cerone (80 OPS+), Miguel Cairo (80 OPS+), Bucky Dent (72 OPS+), and... Bobby Richardson (77 OPS+). And while many complained about his defense, his defensive metrics -- such as we have for his era -- indicate he was at least an average defender. He led the league in range factor three times, in fielding percentage once, in assists six times, and in double plays twice.
People tend to think about Clarke -- if they think about him at all -- as either a terrible player, representative of the teams he played on, or a good player who was wasted on bad teams. The truth is somewhere in the middle. As sportswriter Maury Allen said, he was "an average big-leaguer on below-average Yankee teams."
And in fact, Clarke's 16.0 career bWAR as a Yankee is twice as much value as the player he replaced, Bobby Richardson (8.0 bWAR). But Richardson was a fan favorite, while Clarke was scorned. But of course... Richardson won three rings. And Yankee fans love a winner!
"New York is New York. You don’t win, you’re going to hear about it. I was in the middle." -- Horace Clarke
Had Clarke come along a few years earlier and been part of the early 1960s dynasty, he might be remembered fondly as a scrappy infielder, a Tony Kubek or a Bucky Dent or a Scott Brosius -- a good but not great player who had some memorable moments.
Instead, Horace Clarke defines an era of futility.

2024.05.13 04:27 burd573 Nissan Frontier Starting Issues

My wife has a 2016 Nissan Frontier, 4.0 liter and it has been having interment starting issues. The trucks turns over a bunch of times before actually starting. There have been a few times where it doesn't start at all on the first attempt. The thing is that it will start no problem when you try again. Or if it does start eventually, you can turn it off and it'll start right up. Another thing is that it only seems to happen after driving a decent amount (20+ miles) and letting it sit for a couple hours.
It starts up just fine in the mornings so it seems like if you let it sit long enough it's fine. It starts up just fine immediately after turning off, so letting it sit for a little while seems to be fine too. There seems to be a sweet spot of letting it sit for a few hours that it acts up. Time of day/temp doesn't seem to matter either.
After changing the spark plugs (OE spark plugs) and confirming the coils looked good with no luck, I took it into the shop before dropping the fuel tank to change the fuel pump just to confirm. They said fuel pressure is fine and recommended changing the 2 cam sensors and crank sensor so I did that (OE sensors kind of, more info on that down below) and the issue is still persisting. I took it to the dealer next and they also said it isn't a fuel issue and wanted to clean the plates for the sensors that were replaced. The issue is still there.
The dealer did say they were having issues replicating the problem - I am thinking maybe they couldn't drive it as much as was needed to see it but I'm not sure. The service advisor said it acted up on the technician once but that was it. At this point, I am wondering if it could be a fuel issue and the shops just aren't seeing it because it's intermittent or what, and I'm not exactly sure where to go next from here.
All parts were purchased from the dealer, but I should note the cam sensors and crank sensor were different from what was in there originally. The original ones look this this while the newer ones look like this. I confirmed with the dealer that this was OK and these new sensors were correct.
I would prefer not to drop the tank and change the fuel pump if I don't have to but seeing as how not even the dealer could figure out the issue I might do just that. I'm already at around $1.4k on parts and diagnostics for this and am not really any closer to fixing it so if anyone has any advice that would be very much appreciated!

2024.05.12 18:57 ProfBumblefingers d100 Donkey Details

Gus the donkey.
Adventurers often obtain donkeys to carry extra gear or loot. Strong and sturdy, these beasts of burden are also remarkably efficient, able to forage almost anywhere, and needing only straw or hay and a little grass now and then when on the farm or in town. These un-sung heroes need a little love. Here's a d100 list of Donkey Details (I suppose you could use most of these for mules, too):
  1. Laughing Donkey. This donkey's hee-haw sounds remarkably similar to human laughter. Makes this particular sound only when PC's do something stupid or risky.
  2. Scared of open fire -- torches, campfire, etc; runs away. Can tolerate lanterns (but kinda iffy).
  3. Practical Joker Donkey. Takes one step to the side when anyone tries to load anything onto it and the loader is not looking.
  4. Union Donkey. If ever loaded over 3/4 normal carrying capacity, goes on strike, will only walk in circles until it gets a long rest.
  5. Back-Peddling Donkey. When spooked, always tries to back up 60 feet, no matter what's back there.
  6. Depressed. Need to talk to it and pet it for 10 minutes after each long rest (and on cloudy days) to get it moving.
  7. Battle Donkey. This one loves battle and always charges straight toward any battle noises it hears. No holding it back. Ooh-rah!
  8. Passenger Donkey. Happy to carry riders (bareback, without a saddle), but doesn't want anything tied / cinched around it (will try to scrape items off against a tree, wall, the ground, etc.).
  9. Allergies. Donkey has allergies in spring and fall. Sneezing fit 2-in-6 chance each hour. Drops stuff.
  10. Lie-Detector Donkey. This donkey can sense when a humanoid is lying. Likely via some sort of pheromone cue (?). Farts if a lie is told within 10 feet of it.
  11. Marathon Donkey. This donkey has incredible endurance and can travel twice as far between long rests.
  12. Will carry sacks, corpses, or other floppy things, but not wooden boxes or other things with sharp edges.
  13. Scared of crowds. Simply WILL NOT enter a village / town / city.
  14. Has tapeworms, must feed twice the normal rations until diagnosed and healed. Poop can give tapeworms to any humanoid. Heads up.
  15. Streetwise Donkey. Grew up in a city, pulling a delivery cart. Knows all the streets of the city, how to get anywhere. You tell it where you want to go, it will slowly, at a plodding pace, lead you there. It can't talk or understand any commands other than place names in that one city.
  16. Vagabond Donkey. This donkey will occasionally wander away from the group and stay gone a few days, but then it always returns. Where does it go? Why? No one knows.
  17. Mother-bucker. Will attempt to buck any female humanoid who attempts to ride.
  18. Nauseated, 2-in-6 chance of throwing up in a big way every 10 minutes for a day
  19. Scared of its own shadow. On sunny days, freaks out every now and then.
  20. Large Donkey. This donkey is a freak of nature and is twice the normal size. It can carry four times the normal load and requires four times the normal feed/rations. It won't fit in most stable stalls, through most doorways, etc. Commoner strangers are usually freaked out by it; they are often intimidated by it (2-in-6 chance), or try to kill it (1-in-6 chance) because they think it is a bad omen, enchanted, cursed, undead, etc.
  21. Stealthy Donkey. This donkey walks in a way that is completely silent, even on cobblestones, and shifts its weight as needed to eliminate the sounds of any clanking gear it carries. Instinctively hides itself behind/inside/undearound any available cover, at all. You turn around, there it suddenly is, looking at you in the eye. Can freak a dude out.
  22. Loves butterflies. Chases every one it sees.
  23. Counting Donkey. Point at a group of objects and say "Count." Donkey will tap its front right hoof a number of times equal to the number of objects in the group. Counts about one item per second. Can't spell worth a damn, though.
  24. Aqua-donkey. This donkey loves playing in streams/rivers/ponds/rivers. Runs to them. Likes to splash everyone else. Thinks it's funny.
  25. Catches a parasite disease and will die in 3 days unless healed
  26. Chip-On-Shoulder Donkey. If there are other donkeys / horses around, hates them, always picking a fight.
  27. Blessed Donkey. This donkey enters the scene carrying a religious messiah, or so they say.
  28. Talking Donkey. Amazing! But, a bit finicky, only talks 1-in-4 times you ask it to, and at other random times as DM deems appropriate. Also, only knows a few words/phrases: yep, nope, hungry, tired, idiot, run away.
  29. Hates the heat. Half movement and half carrying capacity on hot days > 80F. Needs double water rations.
  30. Ate some weird mushrooms along the way. Temporarily blind for 1d4 days
  31. Hates elves, they're too self-absorbed and snooty, always making you walk through trackless forests, getting you stuck in the underbrush.
  32. Prudent Donkey. Has 1-in-6 chance of perceiving a trap within 30 feet. Will look at the trigger mechanism, hee-haw loudly, and not take a step toward it. No matter what.
  33. Mystical Donkey. Has some kind of weird ancestral donkey mind-meld with a caster in the group, constantly complaining (mentally) that "this s**t is too heavy, dude," "can't you give a donkey a break?," "how about carrying some of this s**t yourself, tough guy," etc. You can't concentrate.
  34. Lucky Donkey. When within 10 feet of this donkey, you can re-roll one roll per day.
  35. Somehow, loves smelly green ogres who sing. Tries to run off with any such ogres encountered.
  36. Hates humans, they make you work too hard, usually in larger towns or cities where the cobblestones hurt your feet.
  37. Needs a bath, smells very bad. Indescribable, really. No surprising any foe while this donkey is around until it gets a bath.
  38. Shy Donkey. Always tries to move behind you when you encounter anyone new.
  39. Keen smell. Can smell most enemies within 100 feet and will hee-haw loudly to warn you. False alarm 1-in-4.
  40. Sprint Donkey. This donkey can run at twice the normal movement rate, but only for one minute between long rests.
  41. Drunk Donkey. Will only work when slightly inebriated. Must feed it a wee flask of ale, wine or whisky to get any work out of it.
  42. Has one very short leg. Walks unevenly. Kinda funny, but only 1/2 normal movement rate.
  43. Beautiful Donkey. This donkey is a very fine specimen of a donkey. Highly desired by donkey ranchers to breed other donkeys. Sells for double the normal price. Bit of a prima donna. Must be fed one apple or pear per day, or refuses to work. Resents you.
  44. Hates the cold. Half movement and half carrying capacity on hot days < 50F. Needs double saddle blankets.
  45. Sneaky. When you're not looking, has 1-in-2 chance each day of pick-pocketing something off the back of a random PC. Might drop it, might eat it, might fling it to the side of the road, might just hold it in it's mouth. Hard to say with donkeys.
  46. Scared of snakes. Snake within 30' causes total donkey freak out.
  47. Always tries to eat/gnaw whatever it is carrying (especially food) whenever you're not looking, ruins stuff.
  48. Freaked out by undead. If it sees undead, or smells them (can smell 60' away), RUNS in the opposite direction.
  49. Narcoleptic Donkey. Falls asleep, often.
  50. Critic Donkey. When others aren't looking, looks at you and rolls its eyes. You swear.
  51. Foraging Donkey. Grew up in the wild. If there is any vegetation around, at all, it can find it, find enough edible material for a meal, and feed itself, no rations required.
  52. Shoe-Throwing Donkey. One-in-four chance of losing a horse shoe each day, won't walk until found or replaced.
  53. Small Donkey. Can only carry half normal carrying capacity. But has a scrappy attitude and is NOT SCARED OF ANYTHING (immune to fear and intimidation).
  54. Repressed anger. Tries to bite (for real) anyone within 5' who is not its owner (considers only one person its owner).
  55. Back-Row Donkey. If there are multiple four-legged animals in the group, this one must be the last, in the back, or it won't go/work at all.
  56. Vertigo Donkey. Always dizzy, walks in circles unless carefully guided constantly by hand.
  57. Hates carts, wagons, etc. Will not pull a cart or other wheeled vehicle.

  63. Hates the rain. Won't work in the rain. *OR* Hates the wind. Won't work in the wind.
  64. Say-My-Name Donkey. You must call it by name to get it to do anything. It answers with a loud bray each time.
  65. Hates dwarves, always making you work underground in the mines, and their beards are (somehow) scary.
  66. Often gets a leg cramp, limping for 10 minutes, 1/4 movement rate.
  67. Smoking habit. Will work only if you let it smoke lit cigarette or pipe while on duty.
  68. Smart and independent. Anticipates and does exactly what you want 5-in-6 of the time, but disagrees and argues 1-in-6 of the time.

  75. Death Wish Donkey. Is reckless, doesn't look where it's going, always running into things, chance of falling off cliffs, etc.
  76. Dead pan smile. At the most dangerous / awkward moments, turns to a party member and gives the most ridiculous, hilarious donkey smile you have every seen. PC must make DC 10 Const saving throw or bust out laughing for 30 seconds.
  77. Nervous Tick Donkey. This donkey kicks its left leg backwards randomly, every now and then. If anything/anyone is standing behind this donkey, there is a 1-in-6 chance that it kicks.

  87. Alert Donkey. This donkey has a 1-in-6 chance, on its own, independent of PC checks, of noticing an impending ambush. It will hee-haw loudly if an ambush is about to occur.
  88. Ate some bad food / weeds, now has diarrhea, big diarrhea, 1-in-4 chance every hour for a day.
  89. Expressive Donkey. Often has ideas and wants to share, "hee-haws" very loudly for 30 seconds. Sometimes indicates something important, sometimes not.
  91. Hates halflings, their barn doors are too low and their generally cheery attitude is annoying.
  92. Super-donkey. Can carry three times normal carrying capacity, but for only one-third the normal time between long rests.

  97. Shell-shocked Donkey. Scared of battle noises. Runs away from battle noises. Like, a quarter-mile away.
  98. Hates strangers. When within 15 feet of an unknown/new humanoid, hee-haws loudly for 5 minutes. So embarrassing.
  99. Picky eater, only eats store-bought straw/hay/whatever. Won't forage along the road/trail.
  100. Loyal Donkey. Will not leave its humanoid wranglemaster unprotected. Will defend wranglemaster to the end. Will take an arrow or battle ax blow to defend wranglemaster. There to the end, no matter what.

2024.05.12 09:15 lokihorn Which way to go...seeing Moto

Brief synopsis of previous smartphones. DN why odd numbered work so well.
1-Apple iphone 2? ca 2008. what a great phone. Everything worked.
2-iphone 3?. trash proximity sensor constantly activated. No clue why we rid ourselves of iphone 2?
3-HTC One M7/8. Another great phone. Human error, left on back of car after busy weekend, found destroyed. I really screwed up here because…
4-Galaxy S5. Utterly hated this phone. Bought hype, replaceable battery. Terrible.
5-Nokia 6.1. Trash all you like, this was an EXCELLENT phone. $180. It just worked. I can’t tell you how disappointed I am Nokia basically gave up. Had to replace due to 3g only.
6-Pixel 5A. Died after 2.5 years. Pixel 5A’s are the worst in the lineup. Thought I’d found my next android 1/android clean device.
Temp 7: Samsung A25 used BB: I know now why it was returned.
I am in 10 days of cell phone hell currently. Plugged sim into son’s moto e. Wasted a lot of time.
The POS works. I know there’s a lot of trash in the background I could ADB out. I can live with it for a couple of weeks...(google 5a, replace w 6a, 5-10 biz days, need photos off 5a).
But I am starting to go to the dark side of motorola phones. Son hated it, wife still uses same phone. I have higher expectations, I think they’re overpriced for what they give, but the problem to these arguments-
They work. Motos just work. Bloatware. Yes. Overpriced for offered. Yes.
Work. Yes.
It has been HIGHLY disappointing my 5A trashed in 2.5 years. My Nokia 6.1...don’t get me started on that phone nor Nokia.

2024.05.11 15:06 remoters Golf mk3 1.8

Golf mk3 1.8
Got it! Here's the revised version with the additional information about the air conditioner:
Hey, Golf enthusiasts! I've been working on restoring my 1995 mk3 1.8 Golf GL, and it's been quite the journey.
I've tackled a complete engine overhaul, replacing piston rings, injectors, cables, spark plugs, and gaskets, essentially giving it a new lease on life.
The front suspension has been entirely revamped with new control arms, shocks, bearings, and axle maintenance.
Additionally, I've addressed various issues like replacing the fuel pump gasket, lambda sensor, TPS sensor, oxygen sensor, and servicing the air conditioning static pressure sensor, along with general air maintenance.
However, despite these improvements, I've encountered a few persistent issues:
  1. High fuel consumption, which seems higher than other GL models I've come across. The fuel gauge fluctuates with throttle input, albeit not drastically.
  2. Despite servicing the IAC valve, it's still not functioning properly.
  3. An intermittent electrical problem with the left rear light, which sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. Turning on the headlights sometimes resolves the issue.
  4. Even after replacing the left front tire and addressing potential issues like bearings and brake pads, there's still a persistent cracking sound when hitting bumps, and a strange noise while driving that I can't quite pinpoint.
  5. Lastly, there's a strong smell of CO2 and gasoline from the exhaust, despite no visible smoke.
Additionally, I've noticed that the air conditioner stopped working after the engine overhaul. When I attempt to turn it on, nothing happens, and the ventilators also fail to activate.
I'm considering purchasing a new fuel pump to address the consumption issue, but I'm eager to hear your thoughts and suggestions on how to tackle these challenges. Thanks in advance for your help!

2024.05.11 14:46 ProfBumblefingers d100 Donkey Details

d100 Donkey Details
Half movement and half carrying capacity on cold days < 50F.
  58. Wallowing Donkey. Enjoys a good roll in a mudhole/puddle. Every mudhole/puddle.
  59. Deaf. You bought/raised a deaf donkey. Should have checked. Anyway, can't hear any commands. Won't respond to visual commands. Must touch the donkey to give it a command.
  60. Musical Donkey. Gets indigestion often, becomes VERY flatulent.
  61. Flying Donkey. This donkey has been magically enchanted to fly, only once in its life, for one minute. The wranglemaster must speak the command word: "Esel-burro"
  62. Addle-Headed Donkey. Once per day, has a 1-in-4 chance of running in a random direction for 1 minute.

2024.05.11 08:45 send-it-psychadelic 2 x 3 Tempests With +2. How to make enjoyable games longer.

This is a late-game PvT thing. The PvT analog to void-ray-hunts-overlords and supply waterboarding. At a glance, five tempests:
A critical figure is that with +2, 4 tempests can 1-shot vikings (144 base damage), making them capable of kiting vikings and provoking rotations with just 20 supply per control group. This gives you something that is otherwise really difficult to achieve with Protoss, supply-efficient, relatively easy to control, split-army multi-prong harassment. Combined with the high vision (12), they are great when deployed with the simple mission to exclusively attack depots and targets of opportunity.
Key figures:
To skip every other detail, build cannons, get disruptor storm, and focus on controlling a stalker ball and tempests out on the map while a-moving zealots to locations that you are turning your attention away from. Mothership rotation and bringing a prism to reinforce against soft-spots pays off.
While the Tempest DPS is abysmal, the ease of employing against soft targets (depots) and their bonus with tectonic, up to 39 DPS, Tempests are roughly giving you as much as fully upgraded carriers per cost and supply. Immortals are high-output, but how much time do to they spend chewing on structures? Time on target matters. Each depot kill costs about 130 minerals considering the SCV time, so you can shut down about one base worth of eco with five tempests. Everything more expensive like sensor towers or vikings just increases this burn rate. While you mine their depots and expand your bases, they just mine out. As a frequent added bonus, they will discover that they are supply blocked and build yet more exposed depots, things that are not coming to kill you. For some reason the reflex is to build them in places that are increasingly easier and easier to kill.
Tempests absolutely suck if you include them in a fight. Their supply and cost is almost never helping you, no matter how much gateway you would have to warp in to hold without your tempests. In terms of HP, probes are almost as cost-efficient as Tempests. Never ball them in. It's a complete waste. You will add two zealots of HP to your defense and wind up way behind on trades while taking forever to replace them. If a tempest is in your main control group or doing anything but kiting them away from your defense, you might as well send resources to your opponent. Before you fight with your tempests on top of your own position, it is faster and more effective to gg.
A reliable answer would be to go punch you in the face since Tempests can't fight. Against the slow push with tanks, if you fight orthogonally then bio balls will be stimming away from your base rather than toward it, and the slow push will almost never get to your base because you're killing all the tanks and medivacs while running toward their base or empty space. Along with a prism and stalkers, you can keep this kite going for unreal amounts of time. Kite the tempests towards terrain while kiting the stalkers towards an escape path. By splitting up your kite, you can kite them two different directions and get more shots off. By the time they get home, you have like 20 more cannons and 8 templars with energy while they have no tanks left.
Finally, because Tempests are good at neutralizing siege units, using gateways as part of your static defense HP will be extremely cost efficient. It also helps you increase the brain melting load because if you get a prism somewhere it shouldn't be, you have twice as many suddenly zealots. Disruptor storm is extremely effective when holding the line with static. Gateways make force fields and stasis wards a lot more effecitve by making artificial chokes.
Zerg has corruptors, vipers, neural etc and Protoss has phoenixes and blink, so you just can't get away with this nonsense. The worst thing Terran will do is try to chase you with marines, cyclones, and those units kind of suck when running in haphazardly ahead of siege units and ghosts. For thors you out-rotate for a while and then build a billion zealots. For BC's, you use a mothership or forward nexus rotation to get into kite position while tactical is off cooldown.

2024.05.11 06:37 rolltrain F15 N63tu troubles - serious input needed

So - my wife's X5 threw the cel, but she keeps driving, doesn't mention it for a while. Finally she says something. She tells me it comes on goes off, comes on, goes off over and over for a few months, then comes on and stays on. I purchase a BT OBD2 and bimmer link and start chasing codes. The car runs sort of ok. Back fires and hesitation at initial acceleration. I find both air filter boots cracked and just hanging on at the turbo inlet, so I replace them. It runs better for a few days. But still check engine light. The codes are mixture rich on bank 2 and misfire cylinders 7and 8. I change plugs and coil packs on 7 and 8. The misfire codes go away by mixture rich stays. I chase a ton of different codes for weeks. I got lambda sensor swapped before catalytic converters code. These come would come and go. It would misfire on 4 or 5 cylinders at a time. I could clean all spark plugs and clean MAF sensors and it would run GREATc for a few days then deteriorate to misfires on 4 or 5 cylinders.
I took it to a guy who had it a week. Says he was stumped and suggested another place. I took it there -barely - on the way there I was getting Misfire on a bunch of cylinders. The lambda codes came back. And the mixture rich on bank 2 is persistent. This place called after 3 hours and says it's running better. I ask what the did. They tried to swap the oxygen sensor due to the lambda codes. It turned into a permanent error, so... They reset the adaptations and all errors went away and it drove great. I paid $300 and picked the car up. By the time I got home, the idle was starting to deteriorate. After 1.5 weeks, it's starting to backfire and hesitation at acceleration. And now the CEL light is back on. I haven't checked codes yet. But I'm sure it's mixture rich bank 2.
Things i have replaced: both air filters and boots that go to turbos. MAF sensor on bank 2 and high pressure fuel pump on bank 2. I've looked at plugs half a dozen times. They do not seem to be "wet". How can I definitively check injectors? What are other ideas of what to look for?
The garage told me they expected it to happen again and suggested I change all coil packs and plugs and I am going to, but... I just changed these 20,000 miles ago
Long post. I know. Hard to put it all down as it happened
Any help would be appreciated.

2024.05.11 02:45 READMYSHIT Looking to modernize my machine a bit

What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.
General purpose PC stuff - primarily watching YouTube, playing games like Cities Skylines 2, Manor Lords, Fallout NV - nothing crazy taxing, not playing 4k as my monitors are 1080p.Would like Cities Skylines 2 to run better, but I'm guessing that's how everyone is feeling about that game these days.
What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?
Probably could be convinced to spend €1000, but preferably closer to €500.
When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.
Probably in the next month or two
What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ToweOS/monitokeyboard/mouse/etc)
Most likely upgrades will be CPU, motherboard, memory, and case.
Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?
Ireland so can use Amazon from various European locations
If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.
Here's my current build. I built a machine back in 2015 with the following, but with an NZXT H440 case and an R9 390. The H440 case got swapped into a Plex server because of it's drive bays and I got this vary old very large Phantom case instead. But it's probably too big and it's missing all it's drive bay components - so maybe an mATX would suit my new build better. I could be convinced to replace the PSU if people think mine is too old. I'm good for peripherals, OS etc. I used to contribute a lot to this sub back in 2016 but I'm so long out of building PCs I've no idea whether I should go with amd or Intel, or what's worth the money nowadays.

Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?
Probably eventually if I can squeeze more juice out of a CPU for Cities Skylines 2 if that's something I need
Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)
Not really, just want a snappier machine than I'm currently running and want a better processor for the games I'm running.
What type of network connectivity do you need? (Wired and/or WiFi) If WiFi is needed and you would like to find the fastest match for your wireless router, please list any specifics.
It'll be wired but if WiFi isn't too much more expensive on the board sure whatever. But I can live without it. I've good connectivity all over the house both wired and wireless.
Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-towefull-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
I've always in the past enjoyed ATX but this time might go for mATX. My ATX Plex server will be sitting in the same room anyway and eventually I'll be adding some external storage for that.
Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?
Replace this text with answer.
Is my GPU sufficient for a few more years? I don't really do any AAA gaming or have the need for crazy fps, 4k, eetc. But if anyone has any input on this point go for it. I may go ahead after this upgrade and make a handmedown general purpose PC out of the removed parts for my wife. She has a laptop but has always been jealous of my battle station - even just for general browsing she likes the idea. So I may end up just Frankensteining a third machine into the mix once I upgrade.
Thanks for your assistance.

2024.05.10 18:11 TheMightyFallen Mission statement/ sales pitch for DLSI: Dynamic Logistical Solutions Incorporated. (Previously L.O.O.T)

Some of you may have seen my previous post where I asked about "loot and scoot" companies. I have taken some time to refine the idea, and am here to make my sales pitch. (NOTE: This is mostly a fluff/ background company, as 90% of its operations occur on the operational/ strategic level of Battletech)
DLSI is a sub-contractor company that specializes in logistical services and deep penetration raiding. Its primary operations involve supplementing supply lines and battlefield reconnaissance.
On the defensive:
DLSI provides unmatched logistical knowledge and management. Our specialists can rapidly organize and dynamically adjust your supply lines to meet changing battle field conditions. Our long range supply/support craft means that resupply is always just a short flight away.
With our cloud of Mayfly helicopters keeping tabs on the enemy, you will never be caught off guard. With our patented real time battle monitoring system, you will always know where your units are, and which mechwarriors punched out.
Our fleet of VTOLs can set up a forward operating base anywhere they can land (and can have chow hot and ready for your units arrival). Since the majority of systems are within the VTOLs themselves, the whole "base" can just pack up and move away when needed.
On the offensive:
DLSI has created and mastered the art of "Attritional Logistical Warfare". What does this mean? It means: "ha ha, we just popped all your tires and put grit in your fuel tanks". ALW is a system of sabotage that embodies the adage "for want of a nail, the war was lost".
DLSI units take advantage of their extreme range and self-sufficiency to drop deep behind enemy lines. There, commando units will sneak into enemy depots and sabotage any equipment found within. Not with explosives mind you; DLSI uses its extensive logistical knowledge to break equipment in ways that are hard to detect until it is too late. Blowing up a fuel tank may deny the enemy that fuel, but putting 5kg of grit in will poison every vehicle fueled by that tank. Soap in the oil tank, bb's in air valves, clear-coat paint on heat sinks, are all just a few ways DLSI makes themselves a nuisance.
The most devastating parts of our commando's arsenal are cans of expanding foam. We put that stuff everywhere: ammo feeds, missile racks, fuel lines, and more! Find a gap in a mechs armor, and empty a few cans right into the mechanisms, and you too will see why our personnel get punched a lot in bars.
These acts of silent sabotage are designed to slow down enemy operations and use up spare parts. Enemy technicians are often forced to completely strip mechs and vehicles to find everything we did. Just finding one sabotaged vehicle can force them to check every unit in the yard for issues.
Enemies are not safe on the road either. Our Mayfly mine droppers can turn any path into a hazard, often dropping mines both in front of AND BEHIND a convoy in motion. Any damaged units left behind are grabbed by our Hermit Crab mechs and recovery vehicles, forcing the enemy to either split their escorts or risk theft. Many a lone mech limping home with a broken foot pad have been carried off by DLSI forces.
DLSI vehicles:
While DLSI operates a wide range of standard vehicles and mechs, it relies heavily on the vehicles listed below for its operations.
The Mule:
The Mule multi-purpose cargo VTOL is the mainstay of the DLSI fleet. Its six variants (with a cargo base), can fill any logistical role required.
Base Tech Level: Advanced (IS) / Weight: 30 tons / BV: 131 / Cost: 221,375 C-bills (cargo version) / Movement: 8/12 (VTOL) / Range: 3636km / Engine: Fuel Cell / Internal: 18 / Armor: 33 (BAR 7)
Weapon: Small Laser in chin turret / Quirks: Easy to Maintain
Variants:
Mule-M: A mobile MASH unit, this version carries: 2 tons of Paramedic equipment, 2.87 tons of refrigerated cargo, three tons of regular cargo, and a one ton infantry compartment. It has 10 seats for doctors and nurses, with the infantry space for medics and stretcher bearers. (Megamech wouldn't let me just put MASH gear in it)
Mule-C: A mobile command post, used by DLSI to organize its operations. Carries ten seats for officers, 5 tones of communications gear (more technically, Megamech would only let me add it in one ton groups), and 3 tons of cargo (usually more comm gear).
Mule-I: This version is an infantry carrier. It has a four ton infantry compartment, supplemented by a single infantry bay. It also carries one ton of cargo to handle any additional supplies the unit may need.
Mule-K: The most beloved variant, the Mule-K carries not one, but TWO field kitchens. With 1.37tons of refrigerated space plus two tons of cargo, it carries enough food to feed a regiment (maybe, I don't know how much a soldier eats).
Mule-L: The carryall version. With three lifting hooks, this VTOL can carry 45tons worth of equipment anywhere you may need it. Cargo pods, mechs, vehicles, whatever you need (45 tons and under). It also has a one ton infantry compartment to carry "loading specialists" and vehicle crews.
Mule-T: While a normal tanker version of the Mule does exist, this variant is a custom conversion ordered by DLSI itself. It is one of the few secrets DLSI guards jealously. The fuel cell is replaced by a fusion engine, such that the craft can power a two ton electrolysis unit. The loss of two tons of fuel space (8.41 -> 6.41 tons) did hurt, but the ability to make their own fuel on the go has given DLSI a huge edge in deep strike operations. It moves the Hydrogen it carries with two refueling drogues and pulls water with two fluid suction systems.
The Mayfly:
The Mayfly ultra-light reconnaissance helicopter has the amusing distinction of having the 500kg mission module it carries being more expensive than the helo itself. Its 130kg cargo space is used to pick up ejected pilots and carry stretchers. (Fluff only: Two additional stretchers can be open carried on the sides).
Base Tech Level: Standard (IS) / Weight: 2 tons / BV: 14 / Cost: 8,539 C-bills (helo only) / Movement: 12/18 (VTOL) / Range: 1689km / Engine: Fuel Cell / Internal: 5 / Armor: 6 (BAR 2)
Cargo Space (2 door) - 130kg / Quirks: Easy to Maintain
Variants:
Mayfly-C: Carrying a recon camera, this version is used to patrol, locate enemy units, and monitor battles in progress.
Mayfly-S: The camera is swapped for a remote sensor dispenser. This variant flies behind enemy lines and plants sensors to monitor enemy movements.
Mayfly-M: The bane of all truck drivers, the M carries a single mine dispensing unit. Any route that the S and C's find the enemy using, the M will happily leave little surprises for them to find.
What do your guys think? More info/stats to follow... eventually.

2024.05.10 18:09 cptspinach85 Help me keep my shit-box Buick Lesabre moving. Can't figure this one out.

My 2004 Buick Lesabre has 240k miles and has been sputtering (sounds like an intermittent miss), and will sometimes briefly start and immediately stall out, only to not be able to start again for many minutes. It does burn oil, 1qt in between oil changes. For various reasons (codes and issues), I've replaced in the last week: the ignition coils, fuel pump, fuel filter, EGR valve (code), and camshaft position sensor (code). I'm about to throw some wires and plugs in it, and will check the plugs for shenanigans later tonight, and might do a compression test. I'm about $200 into this thing (cheap parts and my own labor).
Any ideas? Wouldn't the car throw a misfire code if it was truly misfiring? Could it be an injector? Something else I'm not seeing or understanding?
EDIT: It was the ignition control module. It would get hot, then start to malfunction.

2024.05.10 15:33 boutell New US and Canadian CCS chargers in April 2024

Here are all (*) of the new US and Canadian CCS (Level 3 fast-charging) stations that rolled out in April 2024, according to the Department of Energy. You can get the data yourself here.
These chargers are suitable for most new EVs on the market, except for:
  1. Tesla drivers who haven't bought the official CCS adapter yet. Certain older Teslas need additional work done to accept the adapter.
  2. Leaf owners like me, owners of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, and some owners of older cars that also use CHAdeMO. If you drive such a car, see my matching post in leaf.
Some of these chargepoints will be "refreshes," e.g. the provider replaced them with faster chargers etc. Some may be incorrect. This report is only as good as the Alternative Fuels Data Center data.
There were 330 CCS charging stations with a total of 682 chargepoints added or refreshed in April 2024, which is a major uptick in both stations and chargepoints. There were only 166 new CCS charging stations in April 2023, with only 267 chargepoints. Things are trending dramatically upwards.
Some part of this is due to Tesla Magic Dock stations. Previously Tesla didn't report these to the AFDC as CCS, but now they do. And that makes sense because all CCS drivers can use them.
NOTE: most Tesla Superchargers do NOT have magic dock as of this writing (all those shown in this report should have it). I recommend using PlugShare to locate compatible stations for your vehicle.
(*) "What about other Tesla Superchargers? Can't everybody charge with NACS now?"
It's coming for many makes and models, and for newer Ford models as well as a few other manufacturers charging at v3 and v4 Superchargers is already an option with a free adapter from the automakers. GM should release their adapter in the coming weeks. But since they are not open to all CCS vehicles, this report is not the place for them. Tesla's app provides the best guide to their locations, including locations that work with non-Tesla vehicles.
Other Notes
To streamline this post, multi-chargepoint locations are listed with the number of chargepoints first.
For serious trip planning, I recommend PlugShare. But by all means check out these reported new locations and submit reviews on PlugShare, which makes things better for everyone.
If you'd like to know about new chargers along your routes right away, or just prefer not to check this list monthly when new openings are rare in your area, I've set up a free service that provides email notifications as soon as they open. You can sign up at evpov.com. Or not! I don't really have a business plan here, I built it to help EV owners like myself. PlugShare has a similar feature.

Distinguishing Data Science

Data science differs from traditional business intelligence (BI) in its focus on predictive analytics and forecasting, rather than solely understanding past data. It combines elements of mathematics, statistics, computer science, and domain expertise to analyze large volumes of data and uncover patterns, trends, and relationships that can drive informed decisions, solve complex problems, and create predictive models.

Applications of Data Science

Data science finds applications across various industries, including finance, healthcare, retail, manufacturing, and more. It enables organizations to leverage their data assets, gain a competitive edge, and drive innovation by uncovering actionable insights that can inform decision-making processes.

The Data Science Lifecycle

The data science lifecycle is an iterative process that involves several key stages to extract valuable insights and make accurate predictions from data. This lifecycle aims to achieve specific business objectives by following a structured approach. Here are the essential stages of the data science lifecycle:

1.Problem Identification and Planning

The first step is to clearly understand the business requirements, goals, and objectives of the project. This stage involves identifying the problem to be solved, determining the data sources, planning the data collection process, and selecting the appropriate analytical methods.

2.Data Collection

In this stage, relevant data is gathered from various sources, such as databases, APIs, web scraping, or other data repositories. Ensuring the quality and relevance of the collected data is crucial for obtaining meaningful results.

3.Data Preparation

The collected data often requires cleaning and transformation to make it suitable for analysis. This stage involves removing duplicates, handling missing values, and eliminating irrelevant or inconsistent data. Data preparation is typically the most time-intensive process but is essential for accurate analysis.

4.Exploratory Data Analysis

Exploratory data analysis (EDA) involves analyzing and summarizing the data to identify patterns, trends, and relationships. This stage allows uncovering valuable insights that will be useful in the next phase of model building.

5.Model Building

Based on the insights gained from the exploratory data analysis, this stage involves using machine learning algorithms or statistical techniques to build predictive models. The models are trained on a portion of the data to make predictions or uncover patterns.

6.Model Evaluation

The performance of the predictive models is evaluated in this stage using a validation dataset. This step ensures that the models are accurate, reliable, and capable of generalizing to new data. Techniques like cross-validation and performance metrics are used for model evaluation.

7.Model Deployment

Once the model has been thoroughly evaluated and meets the desired performance criteria, it is deployed into a production environment. This stage involves integrating the model into existing systems or applications, allowing it to make predictions or generate insights on new data.
It's important to note that the data science lifecycle is an iterative process, meaning that the stages can be revisited and refined as needed. Additionally, frameworks like CRISP-DM (Cross-Industry Standard Process for Data Mining) and OSEMN (Obtain, Scrub, Explore, Model, and Interpret) provide structured methodologies for implementing the data science lifecycle.

After working through the soundcloud dump I realized there was a lot of Aphex Twin music I hadn't heard. Then I realized there was a whole lot of Aphex Twin music I hadn't realized I hadn't heard. So I started working on hunting down basically everything. I noticed most of the guides online weren't super good at telling you what was a unique release so I tried that here. Please, please let me know if you think anything is inaccurate or I'm missing a track or remix.
91 Sept Analogue bubblebath The first aphex twin release originally released through Mighty Force as a white label stamped with Aphex Twin ep. Then it was rereleased the same year by Mighty Force with the artist as The Aphex Twin and a proper title. Mighty Force would rerelease it one more time with the artist as AFX. 4 unique tracks Discogs for the original white label Discogs for The Aphex Twin release Discogs for the Mighty Force AFX rerelease Download

2024.05.10 13:43 Buickbeater07 127k miles 2007 Buick lacrosse, just changed oil and filter now oil with wrench dash light pops up.

Decided to change my oil in my 3.8 buick due to the service being way overdue and I had a break from school.
After easily removing the plug draining the oil and screwing the plug back in, I moved to the filter. Had a much harder time accomplishing this, had to remove the tire and ended up just piercing the filter with a screwdriver to gain leverage and turn it. After I replaced the filter, I applied some old oil to the top of filter and installed it.
Filled my car with the recommended sae 5w-30, little less than 4.5 quarts. and drove it.
Drove fine around the block. After I drove it to my girlfriends house around 15 mins away. Drove great.
As I was driving back to my house, noticed the light and immediately pulled over, checked my oil and it seemed a little low (quite hard to gauge because brand new oil) added more. Checked the screw again made sure I tightened the guy and checked the filter aswell. All seemed well.
The issue comes in when I start my car, it always pops up with the oil light and a wrench next to it. Unsure how to remove it or fix it. Is it just telling me now is the time to change my oil and I should reset the light, so it doesn’t pop up? Just worried, and wondering if I did anything wrong.
Another note is later that night I drove it for a good 2 hours to travel back to where I attended school. Didn’t hear any odd noises and it drove wonderful.

2024.05.10 13:25 bleaght CVT Warranty Nightmare

Hey guys, just wanted to get some opinions on my warranty situation. I have owned my '15 Forester XT Premium since 2018. It has overall been a mostly trouble-free car and my wife loves it. So much so that we have held on to it for much longer than we normally do, since there is no replacement for the FXT. We have only had a couple of sensors go on us and we had an issue with the transmission leaking fluid.
We had the transmission serviced under the factory warranty back in 2019 at a local dealership. The dealership took the trans off the car and resealed everything. When that work was done we were informed that Subaru would be extending our transmission warranty out to 10 years, 100k miles. This was excellent news and a major factor in us hanging on to the car for longer.
Fast forward to today, the transmission has officially given up the ghost. According to the dealer the transmission ran out of fluid. We had honestly not been paying much attention to drips or leaks since we had assumed that the dealer had fixed the issues several years ago. The car has 99k miles on the clock and turns 10 years old in Novemeber, Subaru did confirm that the car is still under the transmission warranty.
The car has officially been sitting at the dealer for 2 full weeks. The dealership opened a case with Subaru of America on my behalf for this repair and I have been assigned "Senior Advocacy Specialist". I tried to reach out to them but have left now 3 voicemails with no call back and sent several emails to only get unfulfilled promises, more on that later.
A subaru field engineer came to inspect the car and required that the dealer fill the transmission with fluid and test to see if it fixed the issue. They called me to inform me of this and told me that I would be on the hook for filling the transmission. I almost choked on the amount of estimated cost to fill up this broken transmission, $85 per quart (up to 14 quarts) and $350 for labor. All told it could be as much as $1,540 for them to fill up the transmission just to see if it might work on top of the diagnostic fee I am already on the hook for. I was told that this amount would likely not be covered under warranty even if they decided it would be a warranty repair. After talking to my wife we decided to have them proceed.
I attempted to reach my Advocacy Specialist at SoA leaving a voicemail and sending an email. To which I got a promise of a call on 5/1 with an update. The call never came.
The dealership remarked to me that there were tool witness marks on the transmission drain plug and they could not be sure if the trans was purposefully or accidentally drained rather than simply leaking out over time. Which honestly made my heart sink, this is the sort of scrutiny that happens when a company is doing everything they can to avoid a warranty fix.
I got no news from them as to whether this test worked or not. So I reached out to my SoA advocate yet again since I never got a call on 5/1. I was then promised that I would have an update from my advocate on 5/7. Spoiler alert, no call ever came.
I got word from the dealer that their DQSM (not sure what that acronym stands for) was requesting a full history of maintenance on the vehicle. I informed them another time that the car had only had its transmission serviced at another Subaru dealership. Outside of that it has been maintained at a local shop or by myself. (I do most of my own oil changes). They insisted on needing a full history. So I gave it to them in spreadsheet format. I have invoices from my local repair shop, as well as the other Subaru dealer and I keep a spreadsheet of oil changes that I perform.
After receiving this the DQSM insisted on running more tests while attempting to drive the car. I was informed these tests would happen when the DQSM was on site on 5/7. I have not heard anything now days later.
So here we are on 5/10 still with no news or updates on what is happening. I have been driving a "rental" car from the dealership while waiting for their decision and to the credit of the dealer, they decided on 5/7 to cap the $45 rental fee at 3 days because of how long everything is taking. This is likely due to me expressing my concern on the mounting repair and rental car bill to them on several occasions.
Am I crazy for thinking this should be pretty cut and dry? I feel like SoA is trying to find any possible reason to deny my warranty claim.
All of this has me extremely worried about Subaru honoring the 8 year 120k extended warranty I just purchased last year for my '21 LXT. This has me second guessing going with Subaru ever again. Which is a shame because I have loved all 4 of my Subarus to date and had planned to replace this FXT with a new Subaru within the next year or so. This whole situation has been frustrating and disheartening to say the least.
Thanks for reading my rant.
Update: The denied the warranty claim saying that I or someone else who worked on the vehicle drained the transmission of 5.5 quarts. Their evidence being tool marks on the drain plug and an overfilled front differential.
SoA offered to cover $5000 of the $9500 repair estimate from the dealer.
So I definitely did get completely and utterly screwed on this one. Now I'm in a position where I have to likely talk the dealer into selling me a new car and figuring out a way to use the credit from SoA to get out from under my Forester.
That means we have little recourse other than to buy another Subaru from this same dealer. We will lose thousands of dollars any other way that you slice it.
What a joke. If I do get essentially forced into another Subaru, rest assured it will be my last.

2024.05.10 07:27 Masterguy29 iNav manual resource remapping

Apologies to the PC folk if the formatting is bad, I am on mobile.
I have a Tmotor Velox Cine F7(TMOTORVELOXF7V2) that I have built. I have a gimbal on my drone that allows me to move my camera up or down via a switch on my transmitter.
I had betaflight on it and was easily able to remap my LED pins to be used as a servo output. However it's not so easy on iNav. I have pulled the C and H files for my target board but I don't know what to change in order to make this work correctly without messing anything up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I know how to compile the files into hex for firmware flashing, I just need to know what to change to make my LED pin usable for my gimbal.
Here is my C file:
timerHardware_t timerHardware[] = {
DEF_TIM(TIM3, CH1, PB4, TIM_USE_OUTPUT_AUTO, 0, 0), // S1 UP1-2 D(1, 4, 5)
DEF_TIM(TIM3, CH2, PB5, TIM_USE_OUTPUT_AUTO, 0, 0), // S2 UP1-2 D(1, 5, 5)
DEF_TIM(TIM3, CH3, PB0, TIM_USE_OUTPUT_AUTO, 0, 0), // S3 UP1-2 D(1, 7, 5)
DEF_TIM(TIM3, CH4, PB1, TIM_USE_OUTPUT_AUTO, 0, 0), // S4 UP1-2 D(1, 2, 5)
DEF_TIM(TIM2, CH1, PA15, TIM_USE_OUTPUT_AUTO, 0, 0), // S5 UP1-7 D(1, 5, 3) - clash with S2
DEF_TIM(TIM2, CH2, PB3, TIM_USE_OUTPUT_AUTO, 0, 0), // S6 UP1-7 D(1, 6, 3)
DEF_TIM(TIM4, CH1, PB6, TIM_USE_OUTPUT_AUTO, 0, 0), // S7 UP1-6 D(1, 0, 2) // used to be fw motor
DEF_TIM(TIM4, CH2, PB7, TIM_USE_OUTPUT_AUTO, 0, 0), // S8 UP1-6 D(1, 3, 2) // used to be fw motor
DEF_TIM(TIM1, CH1, PA8, TIM_USE_LED, 0, 1), // LED };
I know I need to delete "DEF_TIM(TIM1, CH1, PA8, TIM_USE_LED, 0, 1), // LED" and replace one of the timers to use PA8 instead, I'm just not sure which one to change.

2024.05.09 01:52 SinisterUA Please Help!!!

I have a 03 330i with 165k miles on it. Had problems with it before but fixed everything. Drove good for a while and one day I notice my RPMs jumping and its losing power. Check engine light came on. I happen to have a scanner next to me and it gave me a code P0335 which basically is bad crankshaft sensor. I restarted the car, the light disappeared and everything went back to normal. Drove for few days no problems. I'm planning to take cross country trip and to be safe and decided to change the sensor. Went on youtube to see how its done and was recommended to also change both camshaft sensors (in/out). So I changed all 3 sensors and now my car cranks and sometimes starts sometimes doesn't. I'm getting code P0339 Crankshaft sensor circuit intermittent. Did research (not much out there) and found 2 options. 1 faulty new crankshaft sensor. 2 faulty wiring harness. My plan is to replace the new sensor with the old one (since it still worked) and see if the issue is in the sensor before I touch the wiring harness. If problem stops = bad sensor, if it doesn't = bad harness. My questions are; 1) is it a good idea to waste time with replacing new with old? 2) Can the other two camshaft sensors cause this? 3) What else can cause code P0339? 4) What do I do if none of this works? Thank you in advance!!!

Hey everyone,
I could really use some expertise to figure out a starting problem with my 1996 Toyota Celica ST202. Here's a rundown of the modifications and symptoms:
Would greatly appreciate any suggestions or advice on how to troubleshoot this issue. Thanks in advance for your help!
