Dualsense R2 button started making really annoying noise after 100h of use. Totally my bad, I admit it, but what I did is I found some old reddit post here and someone said that you can just take out R1 button, see spring and spray it with wd 40. So, well, I did it, sprayed as little as I can aaand it stopped working. No sound though B-) After dissassemble and cleaning what I could see it started working only after 30% and it goes up slowly after pressing all the way (like if you instantly press all the way and you use steam device input test you can see it go up to 25k and then slowly in a span of few seconds it goes up to max (32700 something). I have BDM-030, here is breakdown video: https://youtu.be/4a-8Gu2vrH8. Im kinda fuming at this point because I have no idea how this thing works. Gears(10:22 on disassembly video) dont spin at all and somehow it detects the press (checked on other trigger which works flawlessly, its as it should be), ribbon cable also doesn't prevent it from working (3:12). Soo I really dont understand what part is responsible for sending signal to board and how it detects it. Soo yeah if anyone encountered any water-grease damage to R2 trigger sensitivity, please help :)

A bit of a backstory: I am 19 right now. 11 days from 20. During my life, i have had it all. The best family behind me anyone could ever ask for. They raised me well, gave me all the support and love humanly possible.
I grew up in an eastern european smalltown, been always above average, and slightly autistic at least, lets admit it. The typical gifted white suburban kid syndrome: never ever ran into problems during my life, everything seemd straight forward, always knew what i shold do with my life. During my blunder years, i have developed some pretty bad traits: a never had to struggle in my life for anything. Every single thing was handed to me on a silver plate. I really am just the luckiest person alive: always done well mentally, academically, and socially. Read the book once before when the teacher said put away your books, aced every exam still, after elementary(8 years here), got accepted to one of the best middle school of my country.
Experienced all the perks of middle school and the freedom of doing whatever the fuck you want during the stupidest years of your life, 15-19. And i did. Of course, procrastinating and not giving a fuck have not lifted me above average as in elementary, but i was still in the middle of the group. Again: everything others sweated blood for, handed to me on a silver plate. Straight goals in my life, stable personality, many friends, altough i still had my innocent nerdy kid persona, which was challenged majorly during the primal environment of a middle school coeducated dorm, but was never particularly bullied, countless friends and family, support and appreciation for who i was, altough i was just being as stupid as a middleschooler is.
Then covid came, and it somehow turned everything around. Not so many friends, no such concrete stable confidence, still being a lazy fucker who somehow lucked his way through everything. also during this time, i kinda started falling off, got into weed, not jsut alcohol, started going out and socialising less, falling off, but i had a great time, thinking about those times fondly, altough not so dearly. Rocked my way through the end exams of middle school with some last minute studying, i mean i absolutely still pulled from my little finger what others couldn't with teeth, tears and blood: got accepted into university as a dentist, still feeling like i am the top of the word.
During the last true summer break of my life, i started doing food delivery. 11:30am till 22-23:00 pm sometimes. During this time, the penjamin really took off in my country, weed being illegal but alternatives, such as Hexahidrocannabinol (HHC) being legal, available in a pen, just like an Elfbar: no neet to sneak out, to talk with the plug(some of you know arranging a meeting with those fuckers isnt as easy as it seems at all lmao), just getting high while laying in my bed. During this time, my weed addiction spiralled out of control, i got high every single night, this being my "well deserved downtime": just existing in my own little world in my bed, for 2 months. Those 4 years really did turned my personality to someone who isn't fit for a course that puts "Dr." in front of your name, this wil be important later.
Before the university, there is a social event hosted for us juniors called "junior camp", where you really are supposed to meet new people, and lay the basis of your entire uvicersity social life. And i took the penjamin(like 4th one in 2 months) with me. Now for those of you who dont know, weed can be a nice social drug, taken with moderation. If you get "schwasted, wake n baked" every day, the devils lettuce really puts you into your own world. No ambitions, no will to progress, just existing in your own little world, being fine as fuck with things as it is. Still had the best memory of my life though: being high as fuck in a water park they organised for us, literally youngsters in their prime, like 1500 of us, just being ourselves in the biggest pool party of the country. What i spent it doing: weed and cigarette breaks, taking slides, which literally felt like descending to hell, and walking around, aimlessly, not giving a fuck about the 1,5k people who came here to meet me and socialise, barely communicating with them, floating in my own world. This, and watching tje closing firework while being high are the best memories of my life until this day, guys if you can, take water slides and watch fireworks while being high, its definitely worth it.
And then came the first oath to myself that I've broken since then: that i will do a conversion of Paul, really focusing on the most important thing in my life: becoming a dentist, which is, besides helping people, is a ticket on first class to upper middle class, for someone from a bloodline of the poorest eastern european easants you can imagine. It takes 4 generations to break out of poverty, and i am the 4th. All the blood and sweat of my ancestors who worked their asses out, slaving away for the communist, them capitalist system, only for their kids to someday, amybe havve the chance i do hae right, now, and I am currently fucking up.
Now for those of you who dont know, university really is the most liberal form of education on the planet: you finally get your own timetable, the only mandatory attendance being the "practices", which you could just get through without putting anything on the table, and the lectures where they actually teach you university shit, not having a mandatory attendance, so who gives a fuck?
This gets us to the University: the first 2 weeks, i was being the typical student: al the lectures, learning from day to day, putting myself there in possibly the most alien environment i have ever been during my life. And turns out, i wasn't ready for the maturity and devotion a serious practice like dentistry takes. Man, i will literally be healing other people, everyones been to the dentist, and to get there, standing above your open mouth: Thats not something what is handed on a silver plate. No matter how smart, gifted, or special you think you are: this will only be achieved with tooth and nails. And i wasn't ready, not the slightest.
This is the point where i really started descending to the level of a fast food worker(no offence, which i was too): the first 3 months can be described with one word: Weed. no studying at all, just smoking that shit, feeling the buzz, it got to the point where i couldnt fall asleep without being hihg. Quite literally, i couldn'T imagine laying in bed, just...laying. IN november, i had it all came down on me, had a small breakdown, took the second oath i have broken: that i will change. This was the 11th of November, 2023
I cut back on weed, started attending lectures, realised that i have no fucking idea what the fuck are they talking about, so whats the point of attending? 3 more weks, sometimes begging to 5-6 different plugs, just to get my dose. Then came the so-called "exam period": where they excpt you to account for what you have "learned" during the "period of diligence". Of course, you can ace all your exams in literally 2 weeks, but for me, i was at diggind the foundation, while others were building the roof, already.
3rd oath: i will put my best, really gonna study my ass off for this one, having no plans whatsoever, just getting through somehow, like i always did. I think this is the time where i have made the first real steps towards maturity: admitting my parents that i havent done shit, and the chance of failure is around 90%. They gave me the encouragement i needed, realy got back on track, and pulled my first half year. So much so, that i got a study scholarship: 13k HUF, 36 USD/month, lower middle class scholarship, but still, that meant im in the top 10 percent of students. Yet again, by partying all yer, doing everything in the last moments.
4th oath: after these few weeks of hell, i will really put myself there, study as the year goes along, being ready and up-to*date with everything. Like the adult i am
For 1 week, this really worked out. studies for hours every day, being with my "new friends": fellow dental students, whom i had a really good start with, but now, arent really close pals. They have had a complete change, a real 180 in their life: being out in a new environment, gangs and friend groups really started forming, and i was there sometimes, having a blast with them, but you know: not really a part of the gang, just the chill, stoner, pretty stupid streets dude, never being up to date, never really giving a serious fuck about them, still smoking weed and drinking with my old middleschool friends. They naturally started inviting me less and less, and slowly fell into the group of a workplace friend, who you really dont just meet after work, you know. Now this might just be my insecurity speaking, i literally have a 2 week vacation fixated with them to the beaches of Croatia, but yeah, just a chill dude whos around sometimes, not *the gang*
And then came the wrost 6 weeks of my life. During my all afternoon studying sessions, i started noticing a slight tingling in my legs and feet, and my visual snow, which ive always had for some degree, starting putting itself into second gear. I even jokingly told one of my friends who happened to study with me: "Man, i might have gotten some real nerve damage from all the weed and fake penjamins, a-ha-ha".
During the next few days, hell unfolded: imagine the worst kind of buzzing, not the gentle weed buzzingm but a genuinely alarming one, an impending sense of doom, and pretty serious unvellness: during an anatomy lecture about the cranial nerves. Figured a snus might help: stuffed a Killa cold mint(european snus is generally stronger than Zyn, this particular one being 4times as strong as the stongrst Zyn, and its still pretty mid in eastern europe lmao). Hell broke loose. If you are familiar with trip reports, i have went trhough something very similar to a bad trip, almost had to run out of the lecture, in front of the teacher and 60 of my classmates beceuse i genuinely thought im gonna die. Went out after surbibing the lecture, ambling around for 2 hours, walking to a pharmacy 45 minutes away and back, speaking with my parents, being in a complete panic which just made things worse.
This went on for a week, then i got to the doctor. The anatomy practice was always the low point: the best teacher of the institute explaining how a human body works, and i was shaking in a corner, not falling into the deepest panic attack i have ever had was taking up all my energy. Drumming with my leg,s counting the tiles on the floor again and again, not paying attention about some of the most important words ever said to me in my life. Went to the doctor that friday finally, and got good words that i am really studying anatomy, i must have known that the innervation of the top of the limbs and and the feet are completely different, so my CNS works just fine, but im describing the most common symptoms of stress induced anxiety. Also told him about my ever worsening visual snow: imagine those old TV-s who had no signal, and displayed what we called "ant football". That is my life, especially when i look at the sky, which was a thing i admired dearly: The giant cloud, not abstructed by any mountain, flowing, and ever changing, still are the most beautiful thing for me, compared with the mind.blowing sunsets we have here, in the great plains. Being robbed of that put me even deeper. The 75mg pregabalin i got described, once a day and night, havent done anything at all. INstead, they amplified my brain fog, the tingling and buzzling, and the feeling of looming dread. I havent known this at the time, so sometimes i took my daily two before the anatomy sessions, which made them truly like hell. Having to walk out multiple times in a span of 1,5 hours of the lesson, just to simply breathe. If someone closed the door of the dissecting room, all hell broke loose, i couldn't breathe. I was bumping into people on the way there and back, being so disoriented due to basically being drugged. Talked about my mother about this, she went through literally the same hell, while attempting university, just like his brother, my Godfather, who was a border guard during the East-German refugee crysis, having to shoot live munition centimeters in front of the feet of pregnant women during the fall of the iron courtain. And this was a true and horrific mental breakdown, a literal *Idegösszeomlás*, akai burnout
So long story short: missed the most crucial 8 weeks of the semester, where we were told in the beginning: if you miss a week, you are done for. The last parts of the period of diligence were spent studying like hell, with my symptoms greatly improvving: attended parties with the dentist gang, smoked weed again, and just laid the foundations for the period of exams, actually studying like hell, like i always wanted to, AND I STILL ACED IT, but with the looming over me the sword of damocles.
Now thinking back, i could've made it. I really cold have. I still can. I completed every single subject i could in the diligence period, cell biology being the hardest, I barely passed that subject with a "2", basically a B-, this will be very important later. The last exam date is at the 7th of july, but with 6 weeks for only the anatomy, and basically the chemistry of 5 years, thats should be enough, eh? Yeaahh, yet another broken oath, spent a week doing nothing, weed, youtube, and old friends, while everyone leraned their asses off. Started learning too, and i took it seriously. But any students, you know how it is:

alarm set at 7:30 am.
10 minutes of snooze, every single day, the next time i wake up more rested than i should have been after 10 minutes, i check the clock, 8:50AM.
Awesome, get out of bed and shower. Check the time again: 11AM.
Cool, the whole day ahead of me. Just a siiiingle youtube video, while i pass the morning fatigue and the rapid morning hearthbeat of 5 years of chainsmoking, yet another amazing dedication of my life.
Then its 12AM, time to dinner! Post dinner fatigue is exactly a 30min video, 12:30PM, imma begin studying.
Next time i look at the clok, its 14:27. I really lock in until 6pm, then my parents cone home. I talk with them for what feels like 20-25 minutes.
Look at the clock again. 20:21PM. How the fuck did the whole fucking day passed again? i truly lock in for the rest of the day
23:35, i can't anymore. Starting to watch trash streams on youtube, braincells dying every second
Time spent with studying: 2-3 hours.

Then i got the worst news i have ever gotten
Decided to check into the E-uni managament system of my country. "You have an offered grade, you can accept it *here*. Click link. "you can't accept, you have an exam applification of this subject". So this was the first semester where they made the application to the different exams at different dates open at March instead of the end of May, so students can "pre-plan their whole semester", the backstory of this is some uni drama equal in lenght of this post *hungarian text-* (Akinek esetleg volt dolga a Debreceni Egyetem Anatómiai-, Szövet-, és Fejlődéstani intézetével, az pontosan tudja miről beszélek lmao, a többiek úgysem értenék, H***igeci),
So, remember about my offered grade about cell biology? Wel, you have to accept it, because it LITERALLY MEANS THEY OFFERED IT AND YOU CAN DECLINE IT, this is stragiht up ez shit, of course who was the hero, who forgot to do this 5 seconds thing? My pretty faced self. All the while having an exam booked for the 28th of may, which obviously had passed, and i jsut realized this now, because the university e-administration site, which you should check every day for like 10 times, havent been opened by me for a month. And in my country, no matter what grade you get offered, if you take an exam and dont attend, thats automatically a failure overwriting literally any grade you had before. And i really put in the work. Really did got the offered grade, which means 55% on 2 intersemester exams, which both of them are hell. And all undone because im too fucking lazy and stupid to open a fucking website. Because i havent declined the offered grade, and this is the first year they implemented the early exam booking, i still have hope that the email i have written towards Students affairs will have an effect, and i will be able to accept the offered grade. We are talking about a subject where if you do have to take the exam, there is a 90% failure rate. 90. fucking. percent. I have 1 month to learn the Central Nervous System(at least i know that mostly by now), and the complete human body as it is from the shoulders upwards, embriology, histology of the semester, and 1 ENTIRE YEAR of university level chenistry. Im fucked already as it is, cell biology by itself would take 3 weeks of no life learning JUST TO HAVE A CHANCE, which i have completed, and willingly, and ignorantly have thrown away.
What happens if i fail? Well, the state pays 12 active and 3 passive semester. The course is 10 semesters, so i can passivate and then retry, and still have a chance like this once more, before falling out of State Sponsored Scholarship. A semester is 1,3 million HUF, 5 months on minimum wage if you dont eat, sleep, and save 100%. PER SEMESTER. So the world wont collapse, buti would lose everyone i met during university, dropping to a class of strangers, being the failed kid, so laying the path from the best kinda uni life to the worst, in terms of connections and social life. My family knows about my mental health, even my conserative KGB grandparents are very supportive, but i wouldn't be able to stand the shame myseelf.
Had an eye watering hours long convo with a genuine friend about my life, and that made me realise im still aint shit, things reall have to change. this is why im typing this, mainly for my own self. As the first page of a diary im planning on starting, to never forget the feeling of being in the literal bottom right now. I dont except anyone to read this, idk why im even posting this, i dont even except any advice, but ofc if you have made it this far, thank you for dwelving into the life of a hungarian smalltown trash, hope you can learn

So, with discussion of an RE Code Veronica Remake I wanted to hear people's thoughts on how they might handle the weapons in the game.
Personally I'd like them to do away with dual-wield (except perhaps for Steve) as it seems like a late-90s/early 00s trend better left behind.
I'd like for both Claire and Chris to have access to the weapons bench to customise their handguns. Claire still going from Beretta M93R-semi to M93R burst (incl stock, ext mag, compensator, laser sight).
For Chris I thought it would be cool to be able to customise his Glock 17 in two different ways: Add fire selector, Compensator and extended mag to create a Glock 18 or add a longer slide, barrel, grip and ammo conversion to fire .40 or .45 and create a Glock 21 or 22.

Nothing much to report but just more run around. They have a supervisor call at about 8 in the morning, it rings twice and they hang up. I call back but I have to go thru their automated system. Still talking thru emails and they say they are now referring me to upper management. LOL More runaround. IMHO they are knowingly selling a "fire arm" with a weak main spring and wanting more money for bench fees and shipping. With the conclusion of the Echoes of the Fallen and the Rising Tide expansions, our protagonist Clive Rosfield finally reunites the power of the Eikons and realizes his full potential as the conduit for Ultima’s ambitions; and thus attains a form of apotheosis through the reward of Ultima’s divine abilities. As such, I figured I should do one more post, this time on Ultima itself. Though it is mostly an original character, there are still a lot of real-world religious themes baked into Ultima’s character that makes for a thematically poignant villain. As always, I am no expert and if you feel like I may have said something incorrect or if you feel that I missed something; by all means please let me know in the comments as I would love to start a discussion with you on these topics. The main antagonist of Final Fantasy XVI, Ultima is a member of a race of extraterrestrial-like beings that share a single consciousness and identity. The Ultima collective were the first to discover the manipulation of aether, the quintessence of life, through magickal feats and with it, the Blight that would swallow their homeland. Driven by desperation, sixteen of the remaining Ultimas divested themselves of their deteriorating physical forms and embarked on a voyage to the land that would be known as Valisthea. Here, Ultima formed the Mothercrystals in order to siphon the realm’s aether for the purpose of weaving a spell that would resurrect its species and remake the world. Ultima also created mankind to act as stewards for its Mothercrystals, imbuing the members of the tribes that centralized around these glassy formations with elemental affinities; giving rise to what would eventually become the Dominants and Eikons. All of this was done in the hopes that successive generations of humans would produce a suitable body for Ultima to inhabit that could withstand the massive amount of aether required to cast the revivification spell; its perfect vessel, its Mythos. As the Mothercrystal Dzemekys resided in relatively close proximity to Origin, the metaphorical ark that ferried Ultima to possible salvation; the Children of Dzemekys, the Motes of Darkness that cultivated around this Mothercrystal regularly communed with their creator, starting a religion dedicated to Ultima called the Circle of Malius. One of the prominent beliefs of this faith was that of the Savior Myth, which prophesied that “...on some future day of reckoning, the incarnation of the lord would appear among mankind and remake the world; that the advent of this incarnation would be heralded by the emergence of several heavenly servants of great might; that the lord’s faithful should rally these servants together in order to bring the incarnation into being; and that for their loyalty, they would be rewarded with the greatest gladness”.
From this background information, as well as the names of many of Ultima’s attacks and Eikonic abilities, such as Holy, Voice of God, Aureoles, Proselytize, Purgatorium, Ascension, and Flames of Creation; we can start to see the parallels between Ultima and Mythos with the Judeo-Christian God of the Old Testament and Jesus Christ, the earthly incarnation of God and the Messiah according to the followers of Christianity. With its status as the originator of the human race, it is quite clear that Ultima is based on the idea of a creator deity, an often primeval and beneficent god in monotheistic and polytheistic belief systems that functions as a creatio ex nihilo explanation for the formation of the universe, the planet, or the existence of human life. Some examples of creator gods include the Sumerian Enki, who fashioned humanity from clay to act as servants to the gods in the story Enki and Nimnah; the Shinto kami Izanagi and Izanami, who formed the islands of Japan (Kuniumi) by churning the Pacific Ocean with their heavenly spear according to the Kojiki; and the Norse sons of Borr, that being Odin, Vili, and Vé who not only formed the mortal realm of Midgard from the primordial giant Ymir’s body, but also created the first two humans Ask and Embla.
Bearing similarities to the creation myth presented in the Babylonian Enūma Eliš; the first of the five books of the Hebrew Torah, that being the Book of Genesis, states in verses 1:1-2:3 that Yahweh, or Elohim Adonai “God the Lord” is yet another creator deity, being the grand architect of existence that created the world and all life on it in the span of six days. The first two humans made by God on the sixth day of creation, Adam and Eve, resided in the Garden of Eden where they were instructed not to eat from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Tempted by a serpent into disobeying their promise to God, Eve and Adam ate from the tree; resulting in their expulsion from paradise and the advent of sin or the “fall of man”. The subsequent generations born from the first two humans tainted the world, and as such, God sought to rebuild what He made by washing away the corruption with a great flood, mirroring older Mesopotamian deluge myths such as the one alluded to in the Epic of Gilgamesh. Verses 11:1-9 in the Book of Genesis mention that in the time after the Flood, Nimrod, the great-grandson of the Flood survivor Noah, led the newly united human race into constructing a ziggurat tower in the land of Shinar that reached up to the sky. Viewing this act as an affront to His lordship, God dispersed the human race across the Earth and created numerous languages so that humanity could never again unite and elevate themselves to godhood; dubbing this monument to the disorganization of the human race as the Tower of Babel.
These themes of mortal hubris, impiety, and the divine retribution for these disrespectful acts is also present in Final Fantasy XVI. During the time of the Fallen, an ancient race of technologically-advanced humans, a vicious war was fought for control over the Mothercrystals called the War of the Magi. The Fallen conducted horrific experiments within a literal and metaphorical ivory tower called the Sagespire, transmuting organic matter into inorganic crystals in the hopes of creating their own Mothercrystal and attaining godhood. The Fallen also constructed airships as well as machines designed to combat the Ultima collective and those who would defend the Mothercrystals. These machines, called Eikonoklastes, are named after the term “iconoclast”, which means a person who destroys or attacks religious images or beliefs. One such Eikonklaste was the Omega-I model, which is not only a recurring superboss) in the Final Fantasy series, but also has several neat Christian references associated with it. For instance, during the fight with Omega Aionios, the hostile machine can do an attack called Pantokrator. This is referring to the Christ Pantokrator, a mostly Eastern Orthodox or Eastern Catholic depiction of a stern but benevolent “Christ the Almighty” or “Christ the All-Powerful”; with the Western Christian equivalent being Christ in Majesty. Another religious reference comes from the trophy received by the player for creating the Omega Weapon, called My Reward is With Me; with this phrase originating from verses 22:12-13 in the Book of Revelation as spoken by Jesus Christ, saying; “And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last”. This is also referenced in the description of the Ultima Weapon that says “‘His word was the first, so shall it be the last.’ - Eikonomachy - Genesis 3:11”.
Much like the Greek story of Icarus flying too close to the Sun and falling to his death as a result, the rebellion against Ultima culminated in the Sins of Dzemekys; in which the Fallen invaded the eponymous Mothercrystal located in southern Storm to claim the giant formation as their own, but Ultima struck them down and destroyed the Mothercrystal, leaving a giant crater behind as a testament to the dangers of challenging the gods. This act not only echoes (pun intended) the Tower of Babel parable and the story of original sin as discussed by ProfNoctis and M. J. Gallagher in the video “Final Fantasy XVI Lecture Stream: A Conversation with MJ Gallagher on Faith, Fables, and the Fallen”; but the Sins of Dzemekys also inadvertently caused the forced emigration of the Children of Dzemekys to the continent outside of Valisthea in an unfortunate subversion of the Book of Exodus story of the Israelites, the chosen people of God, departing from Egypt in search of the Promised Land. This transgression committed by the Fallen against Ultima led the being to become what is known in comparative mythology as the deus otiosus, or the “idle god”. Ultima abandoned its creations, becoming dormant until Clive Rosfield awoke as the Dominant of the Infernal Eikon Ifrit and Ultima’s Mythos hundreds if not thousands of years later.
The fly in the ointment, however, is that Ultima never cared for its creations, its humanity, in the first place. The Savior Myth propagated by Ultima, the ancient Circle of Malius, and it's more modern offshoot Savior Cults in Waloed speak of “The Raise”, the ascension of the faithful into paradise for aiding the lord’s incarnation (Mythos) during the end of the world called the Arche (another term for Primogenesis). This idea is an obvious parallel to the evangelical Christian belief in the Rapture most likely originating from the verses 24:36-44 in the Gospel of Matthew and 4:15-17 in the First Epistle to the Thessalonians, whereby during an end-time event either before or during the period of the Great Tribulation that will precede the Second Coming of Christ; the faithful, living and dead, will rise up into the sky and join God in the eternal paradise of Heaven. However, the myth surrounding the Raise is a farce; as the Raise is actually the spell that Ultima intends to cast using Mythos to remake the world. Having served their purpose, Ultima will no longer have need of the human race alongside its resurrected people, meaning that the birth of the new world also spells the death of humanity. Furthermore, the process of Primogenesis, as the name implies, is meant to revert mankind to a prior, “purer” state of being by stripping the wills and higher brain functions of man and beast alike through the metaphorical ritual cleansing of aether floods. Numerous times in the game, Ultima comments on the “threads of consciousness” to Clive and states how it must untangle him from these threads and empty the vessel if Clive is to become its Mythos. These “threads of consciousness” most likely refer to human willpower, a sense of self, and empathy. The greatest affront to Ultima, the reason why it abandoned mankind, was because of their unforeseen development of sentience and free will. These concepts are alien to Ultima, as its entire race shares a single mind, a single identity, a single goal. In fact, Ultima only refers to itself with plural self-descriptors such as “us”, “we”, or “our” and displays a jarringly flat affect up until the final battle, where all of the Ultimas combine into the singular, angelic form of Ultimalius.
Given its rejection of mankind’s autonomy, as well as the fact that the being itself and the majority of the confrontations with it are some sort of mental abstraction; through a metatextual viewpoint it could be argued that Ultima is a twisted manifestation of the Jungian concept of the Collective Unconscious; a pull towards maladaptive conformity and unity, thereby acting as the antithesis to one of FFXVI’s major themes regarding the importance of individuality and freedom. In stark contrast to the popularly held belief in the tabula rasa, the idea that people are born as “blank slates” that are then shaped by their sensory experiences, Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung and the adherents of analytical psychology proposed that the Collective Unconscious is an inherited instinctual framework for understanding the world beyond conscious awareness that is present in all humans from birth. Jung argued that the Collective Unconscious manifests as archetypes, recurring images and ideas that can be seen propagating in various distinct cultures, allowing for one to make sense of one’s environment through familiar motifs. Jung believed that the similarities between many of the world’s mythological figures and events correspond to these universal archetypes; such as the aformentioned deluge myth motif or the pattern of the king of the gods often being a senex sky father. We can actually see this idea in Final Fantasy XVI in the form of the Eikons, which like the Eidolons) of Final Fantasy IX, are reflections of a given culture’s shared beliefs and experiences manifesting as a centralized figure of veneration for said culture; acting as the godhead of Ultima and the Mothercrystals. For instance, the Motes of Water originally hailed from the coast of southern Ash near the Mothercrystal Drake’s Horn and the river called the Ceaseless Rill, and as such their Eikon embodies the aspects of the water they were constantly surrounded by; that being the sea serpent Leviathan.
Jung believed that individuation, the process by which an individual develops a sense of self, first starts by consciously confronting and integrating aspects of the unconscious such as the Persona), the individual’s perceived role in society; the dualistic gender dynamics within each individual known as the Anima and Animus; and the uncomfortable and reprehensible aspects of an individual’s psyche) called the Shadow). By denying this process through the use of Primogenesis, Ultima keeps humanity under its thumb as an unenlightened slave race complacent in their own self-destruction. We witness this self-realization process for Clive, this transformation into Logos and denial of Ultima’s conformist Mythos, begin when he confronts his Infernal Shadow and accepts the truth of his role in the calamity that transpired at Phoenix Gate; which I think is beautifully demonstrated by the fact that Clive’s inner demon is the literal demon Ifrit.
The words Mythos and Logos are both of Greek origin and roughly mean “myth/story” and “reason, discourse, or word”, respectively. The use of Logos in FFXVI is interesting in that this word also has a theological connotation to it. In the Christian Bible, such as in verse 1:1 of the Gospel of John, Logos) is used to refer to Jesus Christ as the “Word of God”, being the preeminent representative of God’s divine creative presence and a member of the Holy Trinity as God the Son. Similarly to Logos, the Greek word Rhema means “utterance” or “something said”, with the Septuagint, the Koine Greek translation of the Hebrew Bible, using both logos and rhema interchangeably when referring to the Word of God; which may explain why the crystals acquired from completing the circles of the Kairos Gate are called Rhema. To Ultima, Logos represents both the ruination of its divine vision of a new world for its own as well as the invictus) or “unconquerable” savior of mankind, with Clive ultimately sacrificing himself so that humanity may learn from their mistakes and build a better world where everyone can live on their own terms. Similarly, as discussed in the four gospels of the New Testament, Jesus was arrested, crucified, and resurrected; with this seen as a sacrifice on the Messiah’s part to serve as an example of how to achieve atonement and salvation for the misguided masses of Jerusalem.
In his video “Ultima - A Deconstruction of Villainy”, YouTuber FatBrett makes a very interesting comparison between Ultima and the protagonist of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein; or, the Modern Prometheus. In her novel, Dr. Victor Frankenstein experiments with bringing life to dead tissue through galvanic and chemical processes. The scientist succeeds, essentially playing the part of God by creating a new form of life, but upon doing so is horrified and disgusted by the Creature, spurning his creation and eventually seeks out its destruction as it takes revenge for its abandonment. I bring this up because I would like to pay particular attention to the subtitle of Shelley’s novel, the Modern Prometheus, as this harkens back to the Greek story of the Titan Prometheus; who as a patron deity of humanity gifted mankind fire in defiance of the Olympian king Zeus, and as a result is eternally punished for his disobedience. In terms of the title of Mary Shelley’s novel, the Prometheus name, like the story of Icarus and FFXVI’s Fallen, is used to evoke the idea of a character that oversteps their bounds and is thusly punished for their arrogance. However, I would argue that this is only one aspect of the Prometheus myth. Through another lens, Prometheus could be seen as an example of the “nobel rebel” archetype, an individual who fights for an oppressed group in defiance of the injustices of a tyrannical system or individual, often in the hopes of making a positive change through their rebellion.
Prometheus’ theft of fire, while a sleight against the ruling pantheon that incurred a great cost, represents the gift of civilization and the boon of freedom that knowledge bestows; making it so that mankind would no longer solely rely on the gods for aid. We can also see a similar scenario play out in the Genesis story of Adam and Eve. While humanity lost access to paradise on Earth, they gained freedom in the form of self-awareness and knowledge equatable to that of the divine. These sentiments are also shared by the Ophites, who viewed the serpent in the Genesis narrative as a liberator of mankind from the control of a malevolent creator. Several critical analyses of John Milton’s characterization of a sympathetic Satan in his 17th century epic poem Paradise Lost also somewhat align with these viewpoints. Likewise, our protagonist Clive Rosfield, our nobel rebel and Dominant of the demonic Eikon Ifrit, defies the slave-master hierarchy of Valisthea before setting his sights on the ultimate slaver; denying Ultima its Mythos, its fantasy, by gifting mankind with its champion of free will, equality, and compassion; its Logos. And as I see it, in the end Clive succeeds in his crusade against tyranny not by killing Ultima, but by removing magick from the world, since the use of magick was the root cause of humanity’s enslavement, both from themselves and from their God.
Ultima’s apathetic disposition towards its creations, like Dr. Frankenstein, mirrors the Gnostic beliefs regarding their Demiurge or “Creator” named Yaldabaoth. Gnosticism is a collection of various esoteric Jewish and Christian sects that started possibly around the 2nd Century AD or earlier, with one of the primary beliefs shared by these disparate groups being that material existence was born from a mistake, and as such it is an existence of suffering and wickedness that can only be alleviated by coming to terms with and understanding the essence of the material and the spiritual; a process of personal enlightenment called gnosis. To elaborate further, according to accounts such as those found from the Nag Hammadi Library and the theologian Valentinus), there exists a spiritual realm of light which encompasses the totality of the immutable Supreme Being; the Monad), Bythos, or “the One”. From this Plemora, this immaterial plane, arrived the first emanation of the One, that being the hermaphroditic Barbēlō from which further personified divine principles of the mind called Aeons) descended, with these principles often being in male-female pairings called syzygies. It is worth noting that the hierarchical structure of the Aeon lineage#/media/File:Aeons.png) bears some resemblance to the Jewish Kabbalist diagram of the Tree of Life), which consists of the ten emanations of the Ein Sof, the “infinite divinity”, called the Sefirot. The Kabbalist Tree of Life just so happens to also resemble the sword-like symbol that not only can be seen on the Arete Stone in the Hideaway, but also appears when the Ultimas converge into Ultimalius at the end of the game as shown here in this post by u/Physianower. Anyways, the final emanation of the Gnostic Monad is Sophia) (Wisdom) who has no partner, and as such, leaves the light of the Plemora in search of one; resulting in the inadvertent asexual birth of Yaldabaoth. Ignorant to the existence of the Plemora and the Monad, Yaldabaoth believes itself to be the Supreme Being and creates matter, the universe, and all life within it; becoming the Demiurge.
Given that Gnosticism derives from divergent Judeo-Christian ideals, it should come as no surprise that Yaldabaoth was considered synonymous with the Old Testament’s Yahweh. While the followers of the Valentinian version of Gnosticism viewed the Demiurge as ignorant and flawed, other Gnostic sects, such as the Ophite, Sethian, and Archontic systems viewed the Creator as more of a malevolent figure that not only demanded reverence, but also inadvertently denied humans access to the Plemora and Sophia through their flawed mortal existence. As such, the only way for an individual to escape this entrapment is by undergoing the transcendental process of gnosis, allowing the divine essence within each person’s soul to be released, becoming what is known as a Pneumatic). This is similar to the Hindu concept of attaining liberation (moksha or nirvana) from the reincarnation cycle of Saṃsāra through the process of acquiring jñāna, or an understanding of the true self (Ātman)); which I find interesting as the alternative name for the Ultima Weapon superboss) from the SNES version of Final Fantasy VI is the Atma Weapon). Like Yaldabaoth, Ultima’s use of Primogenesis in Final Fantasy XVI prevents mankind from undergoing gnosis, while Clive as Logos acts as the metaphorical shepherd that enlightens humanity and guides it back to the light of the Plemora, which the Gnostics believed was Jesus’ role as well.
I should also mention that Yaldabaoth was typically viewed as a zoomorphic serpentine entity with a lion’s head, as shown here, while Hippolytus of Rome claimed that Simon Magus, the supposed founder of Gnosticism, also attributed fiery properties to the Demiurge, parroting verse 12:29 from the Epistle to the Hebrews, “...for our God is a consuming fire”. I think it's no coincidence that Ultima’s original physical body is the fiery Ifrit Risen, which has a feline face and a reptilian body. Furthermore, Ifrit Risen is actually the combined form of the two Eikons of Fire; Ifrit and Phoenix. In my first post on the Phoenix, I mentioned that the logo artwork for FFXVI by artist Yoshitaka Amano, which depicts the pivotal moment where the two Eikons of Fire duke it out beneath Phoenix Gate, looks similar to the Chinese symbol of yin and yang, which represents complementary opposites that provide a state of equilibrium. Ifrit Risen, like the Gnostic Aeons and Carl Jung’s conception of the Anima and Animus, is a syzygic pairing, a union of opposites. I would propose that while not a literal divine hermaphrodite, this unbreakable bond between the brothers Clive and Joshua Rosfield, who are likened to the twins Prometheus and Epimetheus in the song “Away”, could be seen as something similar to the hermaphroditic metaphor for the end product of the alchemical Magnum Opus) (Great Work) called the Rebis.
If you would consider this alchemical perspective, then I would like to further suggest that perhaps that Ifrit Risen is an allusion to the final stage of the Magnum Opus called Rubedo (reddening); whereby the given alchemical material has already undergone the stages of Nigredo (putrefaction), Albedo) (purification), and Citrinitas (spiritual awakening/transformation) just as Ifrit Risen is the combination of the destructive and restorative aspects of fire that attains sacred wholeness through its union. It just so happens that the stage of Rubedo was also occasionally represented through the symbol of a phoenix) and Carl Jung himself likened the four stages of the Magnum Opus to the process of individuation. It is also possible that like the Prometheus story, fire as the element of the divine could be a symbol for knowledge, free will, rebellion, and human ingenuity; or as I have also mentioned in my post on the Phoenix, could be based on the idea of the Empyrean. In Dante Alighieri’s Paradiso#The_Empyrean), the Empyrean is the highest realm of Heaven consisting of sacred fire where the wills of man and God become one; achieving what the Gnostics would most likely call the Anima Mundi or “World Soul”. And just like the Plemora and the Empyrean, the Nexus of Ultima’s Origin is bathed in the light of the aether harvested from all across Valisthea, but like the name of the eponymous song, it is a far cry from Heaven.
Well, this is it. I’m sad to say that my posts on Final Fantasy XVI are most likely finally over, but like ProfNoctis and M. J. Gallagher said in their video on the Echoes of the Fallen DLC, the amount of research the team at Square Enix did for this game is absolutely astounding, and I can’t thank them enough for this gem of a game that allowed me to write so much in these essays.

DESIGN:

STRUCTURE: The structure of the TZ-300 CERBERUS-1, due to the major forces it will be subjected to, is based primarily around a mixture of Titanium Aluminides, Nickel-Based Superalloys similar to Iconel, and Graphene-Reinforced Metals. More high-stress areas are composed of the latter two. With tension ratings in excess of 180,000 psi, these metals are capable of resisting all major loads envisioned by Borealis designers.
The TZ-300 is a bipedal titan with relatively short legs, longer arms, and a bulky torso. It contains a head with ruddy yellow glowing eyes. The head is mostly for aesthetic and intimidation purposes, but does house a significant amount of sensors and is heavily armored.
ARMOR: Building on Canada’s well known skill in developing advanced armor alloys, the new 6T313 ICEHELM-1 Composite Armor introduces a new generation in lightweight, ultra-strong armor. This is a three-layer armor plate. The outer layer consists of a Ti-WC-BN composite nano-crystal structure with the Titanium used for strength, tungsten carbide for hardness, and boron nitride for thermal stability, this is backed by a final high-entropy alloy layer of AlCoCrFeNi with a tensile strength of 261,000 psi. A second layer is used to absorb strikes and consists of graphene-reinforced hyper-steel (80% steel, 20% graphene by volume), and a visoelastic energy-absorbing polymer (VEP) with embedded carbon nanotubes (CNTs) for additional strength. These are placed in alternating layers. The final inner layer consists of a nano-reinforced kevlar embedded aluminum alloy matrix with additional embedding of nanoceramic particles. The armor ranges from 3 to 9 inches thick and has a maximum RHAe level of 6,250mm or ~ 20.5 ft of RHA steel. The armor protects critical areas such as joints, the fusion reactor, and thinner areas of the limbs as well as the rest of the body.
POWER: The CERBERUS is powered by a 10R329 185 MW Miniature Fusion Reactor developed as a spinoff of the Canadian Next Generation Power Initiative of 2069 It is a larger variant of the 10R310 MICFR, which was in turn based on the 10R234 Mobile Fusion Reactor (MFR) of 2057. The reactor is merely a technology-induced miniaturization of the 10R234, still utilizing its protium / boron-11 (p-11B) fuel, but far more efficiently. There are also (3) high-capacity capacitors to store energy for the aerial defense lasers and EMRG main weapon.
LOCOMOTION: Using the feasibility study appended to the end of this design paper, engineers have designed several superconducting electric motors and hybrid mechanical/electromagnetic transmissions to produce and transmit power through servos and actuators to the various limbs and appendages. Superconducting motors have been in use since the early 2000’s including an example that produced 49,000 hp and 2.9m Newton/m of torque (2.3m lb-ft) in 2004. The technology has developed significantly in the intervening 70 years, and Borealis engineers have created a set of specialized extremely high output variants to power the CERBERUS. Due to the staggering torque requirement figures of 35.5 million lb-ft, the transmissions and motors need to be engineered to produce and handle a great deal of power reliably and efficiently. The 5M309 Hybrid electromagnetic-mechanical variable size 3-axis transmissions, and the 5M314-317 High-Temperature Superconducting (HTS) actuatoservomechanisms (A/SEM)s utilize both mechanical and electromagnetic power delivery. The highest torque output requirements which are sent through the hip joints, produce forces of around 175,000 psi, the chosen alloy for all gearing and housing components is a NbMoTaW Alloy consisting of Niobium, Molybdenum, Tantalum, Tungsten. This alloy has a tensile strength of around 290,000 psi, and has excellent high-temperature strength, hardness, creep resistance, and thermal stability. These mechanical gears are further augmented by electromagnetic actuators which minutely control power application and gear meshing to improve power delivery refinement and prevent any slippage of gears, which reduces their life. A small amount of nanolubricant with self-healing properties to repair microscopic gear damage is also provided for additional heat transfer capacity.
STABILIZATION: The TZ-300 uses multiple methods to achieve precise stabilization control across multiple inclinations and terrain types. These include the: 5M325 Advanced CNT Gyroscopic Stabilizers, 5M322 Dynamic Balance Control System (DBCS), 5M328 Advanced Hydraulic Shock Stabilizers. The 5M322 is the controller for the 5M325 and 5M328 and uses a series of hundreds of nano-accelerometers and inertial sensors to provide a constant millisecond-scale model of the exact disposition of all portions of the Titan and uses predictive modeling along with short and medium range LIDAR sensors to observe the surrounding terrain and predict potential unwanted movements or areas of potential loss of stability and notify the commander via his neuralink connection of these potentialities. The 5M325 CNT Gyroscopic Stabilizers are CNT reinforced hyperalloy stabilizers consisting of flywheels and counterweights to assist with minute and rapid balance and stability adjustments, while Advanced Hydraulic Shock Stabilizers absorb the shock of stepfalls, movements, short falls, and impacts.
COOLING: The cooling system is of critical importance due to the many systems that generate heat. The CERBERUS uses a globally managed heat monitoring and mitigation system which begins with the Active Thermal Management System (ATMS). This system automatically routes the myriad data obtained through thousands of nano-scale sensors through the onboard quantum supercomputer to provide a continuous heat management image of the Titan. All systems are threaded with millions of microchannel heat exchangers which use modern phase-change materials and high-performance liquid cooling loops to pull heat from various systems and shunt it to cryogenic helium-based internal heat exchangers, as well as exterior graphene-based heat exchangers. Finally, specific components such as actuators and servos contain local Thermoelectric Coolers (TECs) to provide additional cooling capacity when required.

ARMAMENT:

The CERBERUS is primarily a weapon of war and as such it possesses a robust armament. Its primary weapon is a 14N326 10-inch/30-caliber Electromagnetic Railgun which launches a 1,161 kg slug with a muzzle velocity of 5,000 m/s located on the right arm in lieu of a hand. The slug is composed of a tungsten carbide core, surrounded by a graphene-reinforced CNT sheath with an amorphous Vitreloy zirconium-based metal jacket. Expected kinetic energy using a full energy discharge of the fusion reactor and all three capacitors will result in ~ 5 gigajoules of energy. However, a typical firing will achieve kinetic energy values of 500-800 megajoules of energy. For comparison, the 10-inch/50 caliber Mark 7 naval gun from US battleships fired a 227 kg round at 823 m/s with a kinetic energy of 76.75 megajoules. An additional round that is designed to break up in a tight cone after firing is used for area-of-effect and suppressing fire. The CERBERUS EMRG is capable of firing three rounds per minute sustained, and can rapid-fire three rounds in 10 seconds with a 45 second recharge and rearm period.
Shells are stored in the bulky rear of the torso in two magazines and are dispensed via a retractable graphene-reinforced titanium belt conveyor to the arm-based ammunition loaders. The arm can carry three rounds in the upper arm, and six rounds in the lower arm, with three of those six located beneath the gun itself similar to an over-under shotgun. The arm will have to be reloaded every so often after all shells have been expended.
The left arm consists of a fist complete with movable fingers, atop of which a 6G304 5-inch Triple-Barrel rotary ETC cannon is affixed. This weapon is capable of firing one round every two seconds and works by loading a round into one barrel as another is being primed, and the third is firing. After firing, the barrels rotate and the process repeats.
(4) 6R232 SLINGSHOT-1 EM-Assisted Armored RA Pods which are 30-tube 6-inch rocket pods used on the GU-40 CARIBOU-1 L-RAV, and GU-59 H-RAV developed in 2058, are mounted on the rear shoulders of the Titan and have armored shutters to protect the rockets during battle when not in use. They are capable of firing the entire arsenal of 6-inch Rockets used by Borealis.
Secondary armaments consist first of (4) AURORA-1 20 MW FEL Laser Emitters (2 shoulder, 1 front, 1 rear) which are small, angular domes consisting of transparent aluminum oxynitride (AION) inside of which are synthetic three movable synthetic diamond prisms which direct a tunable (200 nm to 10 micrometer) wavelength laser onto selected targets. The laser can either be fired as a concentrated or pulsed beam through a single prism for maximum power, or dispersed through the other two prisms to engage multiple targets from one emitter. This enables the CERBERUS to engage up to twelve targets at once using four laser emitter points. The prisms are mounted on reinforced, vibration-isolation mounts, and contain their own closed loop cryogenic cooling circuits. Max output is 20 MW, however, in practice actual output is much lower depending on the target engaged. The choice of an advanced FEL laser allows a modulated wavelength to be selected in order to mitigate the effects of battlefield smoke, weather, and other atmospheric effects. Expected range at max firing power is 15-20 km in clear conditions, and 7-10 km in foul weather or thick battlefield smoke. The lasers are primarily intended to engage depleted uranium penetrators, drones and loitering munitions, ATGMs, and artillery shells within milliseconds of beam exposure.
Additional self defense weapons consist of 6G213 1.5 inch ETC self-defense autocannons which provide a 360-degree arc of fire around the Titan to engage infantry, androids, and other armored vehicles or aircraft. Heat from the reactor and systems can be vented downwards around the Titan to scald and boil unprotected infantry within a 100-200 ft radius around the CERBERUS as an unintended but usable defensive tactic.

SENSORS:

The 2W298 ARCHBISHOP-2 Multispectral PESA/EO/DAS is a further advancement on the concept of an electro-optical distributed aperture system. The new system upgrades the electro-optical receivers with newer, more robust, smaller, and efficient receivers to provide an automated threat assessment matrix for the commander and crew. The addition of a high fidelity passive electronic scanned array permits the use of long-range radar to identify inbound threats such as drones, artillery shells, missiles, and aircraft without betraying an active radar signal for anti-radiation missiles to lock onto. The panels are armored and are designed to resist battlefield damage. The 2W330 HELIOS-1 Omnispectral Sensor System combines multiple sensors across the TZ-300 into a real-time analysis picture with the ability for the commander and other users to switch between views via their neuralink connections using mere thoughts. The HELIOS-1 system combines 3D Lidar, Frequency-Modulated Continuous-Wave Lidar, hyperspectral cameras with a very wide range of wavelength coverage including ultraviolet, visible, and infrared. Ultra-high resolution optical cameras with dynamic zoom functionality, laser rangefinders, microphone arrays, ultrasonic sensors, magnetometers, electromagnetic field detectors, radio frequency analysis sensors, gas detectors, chemical analyzers, biological agent analyzers, temperature, humidity, and pressure sensors, geiger counters, various particle detectors, communications analysis sniffers, SIGINT detector and analysis modules, and several others to paint a highly informative battlefield picture. Connection to the WHISPER network via the ISN datalink also permits data-sharing with all other Borealis assets in the theater and indeed, around the globe. Finally, certain emitters are able to launch EW warfare attacks to attempt to soft-kill inbound threats and obscure enemy targeting and tracking capabilities.

LOGISTICS:

A Titan as large and slow as the TZ-300 must have long-distance travel taken into account. To rapidly move the Titan from one location to another, a variety of methods may be used. The Titan can be disassembled into 7 distinct parts, torso, legs, upper arms, and lower arms and can be transported via ship, rail, truck, or air provided the mode of shipping can handle the weight and dimensions. Disassembly and assembly take 18-24 hours using specialized cranes and a team of technicians.

The TZ-200 HOPLITE-1 is a small scouting Titan that is significantly smaller, lighter, and faster than the CERBERUS. Most of the technology is reused and will therefore not be discussed in detail. Armor is lighter, but it is still substantial, able to resist 2-3,000 RHAe of penetration. The lack of a powerful EMRG significantly reduces the required power output and thus reactor size and heat generated. The HOPLITE-1 is intended to be used as a scout and to operate in urban environments where the CERBERUS will find matters more difficult due to its size and maneuverability. This is unless the goal is complete destruction, then the CERBERUS will be very much at home in urban environments.

Factory Construction and Procurement

Titans of this size will require entirely new factories to construct these behemoths. Two large factories, under the management of a new company, Atlas Defense Works, will be constructed in Dene territory in north-west Borealis, one is located at the Tanacross, Alaska location, and another is located at the Camsell Bend location. Both will be bored deep in the Rocky Mountains to protect from long range strategic strikes. Each facility will have its own living, medical, recreation, water purification, food storage, and power facilities onsite (for emergencies). Power will be supplied via triple 300 megawatt fusion reactors. The local towns of Camsell Bend and Tanacross will receive significant upgrades to house the large expected workforce of 10,000 engineers and technicians and their families. The mountain facilities are expected to be used only in emergencies and for convenience, while housing built in the towns is expected to be used on a daily basis. Infrastructural upgrades including road, rail, and airport access will be provided and substantially improved in order to permit transport of the Titans to specific deployment areas quickly and to allow resources to be transported to the foundries more efficiently. Both facilities will have extra room prepared for additional production lines of any future smaller or larger titans or warsuits that may be developed. The expected cost for these measures is expected to run to $29.5B which will be entirely paid by the Dene and Blackfoot over the course of 7 years.
An initial batch of 30 TZ-300 CERBERUS-1 Heavy Titans and 60 TZ-200 HOPLITE-1 Scout Titans will be procured at a cost of $19.5B and $17.1B, respectively. 15% will be paid by all of the nations, and the remaining 85% will be paid by the Borealis Federal Government.

Feasibility Analysis

The idea of creating large mechanical bipedal walkers has been a hallmark of science fiction for decades, but the technological and material means to do so have remained out of our grasp. Indeed, it has been said that titans are physically impossible due to a myriad of reasons. We have conducted thorough feasibility analyses on multiple potential issues before deciding to move forward with the program.

1. Weight vs. Ground Subgrade Reaction
Objection: A bipedal Titan’s mass is too great to spread across the surface area of one foot during each step where all mass is concentrated upon one foot as the other is lifted forward.
Analysis: Borealis engineers first calculated the estimated mass of the TZ-300 CERBERUS-1 Titan, the diameter of the bottom of the foot, and ran multiple soil bearing capacity tests on the three most common soil types: clay, sand, and silt, in both dry and wet states. The following figures are averages of the samples.

FINAL Analysis: Due to the large square footage of the TZ-300’s feet with stabilizers extended, expected sinkage into various soil types is expected to be minimal.

2. Force Requirement for Lifting TZ-300’s legs
Objection: A Titan’s legs are too heavy to lift.
Analysis:
Each leg of the CERBERUS-1 weighs approximately 95.74 tons and is 45.14 feet in length. The leg of an average adult male in Borealis weighs roughly 32 lbs and is roughly 35.4 inches (2.95 ft). The force required to lift the weight of a human leg is equal to the weight of the leg (since force = mass x acceleration due to gravity, and the gravity involved is 1 g or 9.8 m/s^2, which can be simplified to 1.)
Utilizing this same formula, the total force required is 191,480 lbs.
The Borealis engineers also took into account the following additional considerations:
Center of mass and torque, distribution of weight, leverage and muscle force, acceleration.
The CERBERUS-1’s center of mass of the leg is roughly halfway up the leg, similar to humans, or 22.57 feet from the hip. The human body uses leverage (movement arm) to lift the leg, a similar mechanical advantage will be assumed.
T(human) = 32 lb x 1.475 ft (center of leg mass) = 47.2 lb-ft.
T(titan) = 191,480 lbs x 22.57 ft = 4,321,163.6 lb-ft
To calculate acceleration, additional force is necessary to overcome inertia, engineers assumed a 20% additional force requirement.
Final Adjusted Force:
Adjusted force (human) 32 x 1.2 = 38.4 lbs
Adjusted force (titan) = 191,480 x 1.2 = 229,776 lbs.
Final torque requirement (titan) = 229,776 lb x 22.57 ft = approximately 5,185,396 lb-ft.
This number is to merely lift the leg. In order for the Titan to walk at 7 mph or its top speed of 30 mph at full stride, a force of ~ 17,000 hp and 9,500,000 lb-ft of torque, and 20,000 hp and 35,236,536 lb-ft of torque.

hi all, I'm a bit over 40 and recently bought my first gun and used it a couple of times at the range. Then, not gun-related, I started having physical issues to elbows and wrists, I've seen a couple of doctors but I've not a definitive result yet.
I've a 9mm, so not an enormous recoil, last time I've had no real issues shooting, just a bit of wrist and thumb pain, but psychologically you "fear to have pain" and this is like an enormous kind of recoil anticipation. Another issue is that I have less forearm strength so even with a correct grip I don't have a strong hold.
I plan to rent a 22 and maybe buy one, and in the meanwhile try to investigate and cure my issues, but probably I will never be able to shoot hundreds of 9mm like many people do, maybe I'll use 22, maybe I'll go back to airguns.
Anyone has suggestions or similar experiences?
I know I can "shoot anyway" , there was a friend of my father shooting 44 Magnum on a wheelchair, but I just don't want to make things worse while I still don't know what I have...
