2024.05.21 03:02 rei_mayo I try to integrate my OCs and other characters in Honkai : Star Rail !

Hello !
So... I'm rei_mayo, and I have a little bit unrealistic project. I create OCs and I imagine characters in lore what would they be in game.
I'm French, so I'm sorry for my bad English ! I prefer precise that there is just original or official content in the post ! This is just from the currents versions of the game and from my head !
Since one year, I work in my free time on this project and there is multiple things :
-First part : the lore of the project, like the background and the location ;
-Second part : the relics, and the elevation materials ;
-Third part : the characters, and the banners ;
-Fourth and last part : the plot of the history (in the big lines).
I prefer to precise why I do this. When I play video games, I love to create characters when it's possible, and in MiHoYo games, it's not possible... But, create characters that only me like, it's very selfish, so I would like to present them to have notices if they are fantastic !

First part :

So, the history would be in a location called the "Shìjiè-Chuán of Xianzhou" (nb : mean Ship-World (世界船) in Chinese). The Shìjiè-Chuán is the capital and the most important part of the Alliance. A little time after Lan became an Aeon, Yaoshi asks to an Emanator to kill the Emperor of Xianzhou and to make a plague mark in the original planet of Xianzhou.
Lan discovers that and he purifies the planet, kill Abominations, destroys the plague mark. With the remains of the planet and the Xianzhouan (?) planet, he creates a huge boat, the Shìjiè-Chuán.
For comparative, the Shìjiè-Chuán is so huge that all the other boats can fit in with no problem. It's contains important locations like :
-The Judgment Palace : The place where the Ten Lords and the Generals Arbiters judges the most dangerous criminals. Despite the fact the criminals are jail in the Xuling, they really are judge in the Shìjiè-Chuán.
-The Starry Streets : Streets where neon, big screens and buildings are. The popular streets of the Shìjiè-Chuán, mix of tradition and modernity.
-The Fallen Garden : A garden where plants of all the planets who were saved by the Hunt are. It's also the place where the Yamato was before the Emanator of Lan gets him.
-The Shackling Prison : The prison of Xianzhou, where all the criminals of the Alliance are located. In the depths of the prison, just one person is remained... Shuhu, Emanator of Abundance.
-The siege of the Ten Lords Commission : The place where all the Ten Lords (not included the Fallen King and the Stellar Queen) are when there is no process. It's also the place where all the Judges, the Wraith Wardens and the Aurumations are when they don't have missions.
-The boats Goldsmithery : The place where the boats of the Alliance are repair. Actually, the Cangcheng is here for reparation after the destruction of Rahu.
-Other places... How to discover them ? Play~
And here is some clarifications !
So, who is the Marshals ?
In my idea, Hua is a false Marshal, to cover and hide the Shìjiè-Chuán, but she's really powerful. She would be a Fu Hua expy... And I will talk about her later...
The reals Marshals are Rei -The Fallen King- and Xingxing -The Stellar Queen-.
Rei is the Emanator (and the only) of Lan. Called the Fallen King because of a legend, he's considered like the most powerful person of the Alliance. He carries a divine katana called the Yamato-Shinigami. (nb : Yamato > Yama, Hindu god and judge of the dead. The Chinese god Yanluowang or Yanluo Wang has his origins in Yama. Shinigami > Death Kami). I will talk about him later.
Xingxing (nb : star (星星) in Chinese) is an Emanator of Nous and a Eclairor (?) of IX. Called the Stellar Queen because she uses stars with martial art for fight, she done renovations in the Shìjiè-Chuán for make it more modern. I will talk about her later too.
The Marshals are the boss of Xianzhou and of all the factions who follow the Hunt, like the Galaxy Rangers. They rule all the commissions, and are very important, but they rule different commissions. For example, The Fallen King rule the Cloud Knights, but the Stellar Queen rule the Artisanship Commission. The only Commission they rule together is the Ten Lords Commission.
Who is the Ten Lords ?
In my idea, the Ten Lords Commission would be composed with eight Lords and the two Marshals, and that would be the Ten Lords. In game, it's said that nobody knows where the commission is despite the members of the Commission them-self, but she would be in the Shìjiè-Chuán. The Ten Lords would be :
-The Fallen King ;
-The Stellar Queen ;
-Yuen (I will talk about her later) ;
-Styx, an Emanator of Finality and a member of the Galaxy Rangers (I will talk about him later);
-Athena (I will talk about her later) ;
-and other people... NPCs, so we don't care about them.
Who is really Hua ?
In my idea, Hua would be a "Marshal". When she (in my mind, she's a she) appears in public, she is the Marshal, but in the Shìjiè-Chuán, she's judge like a General. Her title would be the "Fenghuang" (nb : phoenix of Chinese mythology). She would be in the General of the Cangcheng when he would be repair.
But... The Cangcheng is destroyed, no ?
Yes, he was devoured by the activated planet Rahu. But in the year 8098 (so two years before the game), Rei destroyed Rahu (and killed ~10 000 000 000 of abominations). That liberated the remains of the Cangcheng, and Xianzhou is trying repair him.
Why Shuhu is in the prison ? Shouldn't be dead ?
Technically, she's in prison, but it's precised that nobody knows if it's the really Shuhu of not. In fact, in each prison of Xianzhou, a few reproductions mecha-organics were made by the Stellar Queen for hide the real Shuhu. In the Shìjiè-Chuán, she's just a spirit, seal in a transparant box cell. She just wants to talk with five persons : The Fallen King, the Stellar Queen, Yuen, Blade and Jing Yuan. The unique persons who know that Shuhu is alive are the Ten Lords, the Generals and the Stellaron Hunters. Her real body and remains are with the Abundance, but originally her remains were with Xianzhou, and her spirit was with the Abundance.
Now, here is some more lore that I created :
The Trinity of the Abundance :
If you never see Yaoshi, THEY have a lot of plants in THEIR representation. There is a wheat, a bramble, and a large tree.
I imagine that the members of Abundance considered that these three plants are divines. For them, the wheat represent the immortality, the bramble represent the price to pay for become immortal and the thanks to Yaoshi, and the tree represent the life the Abundance offer to the mortals.Traditionally, the Emanators must wear one of these three symbols. For example, Shuhu wears brambles for gives her blood to Yaoshi.
At the opposite, each plant that the Hunt has purified is considered as a sin. For example, each lotus in the Xianzhou Alliance is a sin for Abundance. But the lotus in the planets of Abundance are holy. The lotus is the incarnation of Yaoshi THEM-SELF, but only if it's in a planet of Abundance.
Rakshasa and Luocha :
If you know Luocha, I think I don't to explain that is said that he's related to the Abundance. And Luocha is an other name for "Rakshasa", a type of evil spirit of the Buddhist mythologize who are cannibals. So, I will tell you who they are :
So, after the planet of Luocha get destroyed and his wife gets killed under his eyes, Yaoshi gave to him immortality and powers to become an Emanator of Abundance. Luocha asks to resuscitated his wife, but Yaoshi tells that THEY will do that if Luocha destroys one of the different boats of the Xianzhou Alliance. But Luocha, who was a doctor in his original planet, cannot do that. But the time past, and he couldn't do that... But Yaoshi implants an sort of mara in him, like an evil spirit, so Luocha decided something.
I imagine that Luocha create a another corpse/puppet with remains of different corpses, and transverse the evil part of him in this, but not his powers and his immortality, to trying to find an another way to resuscitate his wife. He create a coffin with powers of Abundance for conserve the corpse of his love, and decided to leave the Abundance, and became a interstellar merchant for trying to discover how to resuscitate his wife.
But Yaoshi couldn't accept that. So THEY gave powers and life to the puppet contained Rakshasa, and THEY gave immortality. And Rakshasa became an Emanator of Yaoshi, for avenge him and Yaoshi. But because he was born from Luocha spirit, he has his savior of doctor.
Rakshasa tries, with Shuhu and the living planet Rahu, to destroy the Shìjiè-Chuán. But the Stellar Queen fought him, and "kill him". But Rakshasa false his death, and he takes with him the remains of Shuhu.
Rakshasa is known for his cannibalism and for his experiences. He's like a Dottore in term of personality, but more crazy and more psychopathic.
The Yamato-Shinigami and the divine spirits of the Hunt :
So, what is the Yamato-Shinigami ?
This saber is an odachi created by Lan, to purge the Abominations and for the Emanators of Lan. So, Lan created this saber with a galaxy and imaginary energy for this first Emanator, but when he dies, Lan hid the saber in the Shìjiè-Chuán for the next Emanator... A long time ago, Rei meditated in the Stellar Garden after the death of his mother, and the Yamato has called him. Since this event, he and the Yamato are lied and the odachi is his saber.
Lan doesn't choose the Carrier of the Yamato, but it's the saber himself who choose his owner. The saber has only two owners in his life : The first Emanator of Lan and Rei.
Lan doesn't place the powers he gives to his Emanator in the Emanator, he place the powers in the Yamato. More the Emanator does miracles and heroics acts, more the Emanator gain the power. Actually, Rei have 100% of his powers, but there is a state more powerful : the Resonance. The Resonance is a phenomenon that caused when the willpower of the Emanator and the willpower of the Yamato are the same, and the power of the Emanator are increase so much that the people say when the Fallen King reach this state temporary, he becomes powerful as a Aeon.
But this state can be permanent, if the willpower of Rei became so strong that him and the Yamato become just one. The spirit in the saber changes his form according to who is the person who meet him. And he doesn't fight, the spirit of the Yamato-Shinigami doesn't fight with Emanators. The Yamato measure ~225 cm/~7,3 feet, and his pound is unknown. (The pound depend of who carries the blade. Very light for the carrier but very heavy for the other)
But what are the divine spirits of the Hunt ?
Do you know the Lighting Lord ? I think yes.>! In the lore, it's "said" and showed that the past General of the Luofu, Teng Xiao, uses the Lightning Lord, like Jing Yuan. But not the same sword, because of the Starfall Reverie has been forged by Blade when he was Yingxing.!< So I imagined that :
The first Generals, when they passed away, Lan take there spirits and gives a lot of power. Since the creations of these spirits, they are give to the Generals, until they choose to retire. Then, it's give to the next Generals, and this cycle is repeated. These spirits are unlike of the spirit of the Yamato, because they don't give their powers and doesn't are in a weapon. Plus, the spirit of the Yamato can't fight with his carrier.
Technically, the General Arbiters are Emanators, like Rei, but the divine spirits changes all. Rei does have powers of Lan/The Hunt and he has the Yamato-Shinigami, but if he fights without, he changes nothing (just the fact that the Yamato uses as a multiplying for the slashes. But if the Generals fights without the spirits, it would changes. (it's a theory/created lore, so please, not rude in comments !)
So the divine spirits would be like the reasons why the Generals of the Hunt are considered as Emanators.
So, now, I think the first part is finish... Let's go to the second part !

When a character lost HP, the Holy Sacrifice absorbs his loss of HP, until a limit. The skill of Luocha can release the Holy Sacrifice for heals the ally, and makes the effect reborn. Release the Holy Sacrifice can increase the DMGS and the ATK of Rakshasa. Also, his talent take some allies's HP in each turn to increases the Holy Sacrifice. At the end, a sort of a ultimate attack is trigger and all the HP (even the HP that are not here, for example, if her max HP is 10000, but she only has 8000 HP, then her HP are going to be in -2000) are consumed and the Break Effect is increase in a certain value for each 500 HP that are consume, and she inflicts DMGS and Super Break Effect for the enemies who are in Weakness Break. Starburn is inflect to the enemies with her skill and her ultimate. She can also reach multiple enemies because she does effect zone attacks. Her talent can increases the DoT DMGS she does to the enemies depending on their HP.

Anyway, he's a very important person of the Xianzhou Alliance. He's from a forgotten planet, who has been destroyed by the Abundance. Rescued by the past Marshal, Lingyue when he was six years old, he quickly became one of the greatest fighter of the Alliance at his teenage years.
He is 19 years old, and he is around 1m96/~6,43 feet. (so I think he's one of the most tall character.). He's VERY muscular, and very handsome (according to me)
Rei is a Hunt character (an Emanator of this path) who deals Imaginary DMGS. His gameplay would be concentrate in the CRIT DMGS. Depending on the attacks, it's giving to him "Fallen Royalty" accumulations. When he has a certain number of this accumulation, he entering in the "Fallen King" state, who increased his CRIT rate and his CRIT DMGS and reinforce his skill and his ultimate. For his ultimate, it increases his CRIT rate and his CRIT DMGS, and he gives 9 slashes to the enemy. When he's in the "Fallen King" state, it's would increase his CRIT rate and CRIT DMGS, also gives XIII (4, 4, and 5) slashes to an enemy. For each slash that are a CRIT hit, an additional slash is inflect. Each additional slash increases the Rei's CRIT DMGS, and they do a CRIT vulnerability. If all the all the additional slashes has been concluded, then a last additional slash is inflect. When he does CRIT DMGS when he uses his ultimate in the "Fallen King" state, it's does another hit in the enemy.
Here is his description :
"One of the two Marshals of the Xianzhou Alliance, the Carrier of the Yamato, the Emanator of Lan and the Fallen King. Feared by his enemies, respected by his allies. He always wears a fickle smile, and he always brings death with him.
Lan, the Reignbow Arbiter entrust the Yamato to Rei, the greatest weapon of all the Alliance. As a great strategist, he's also a good brother. He knows all the Stellaron Hunters, and he's apparently in a relation with the Stellaron Hunter named Blade..."
His VA would be Kaiji Tang (the VA of Gojo).
So, who is Shuhu ?
Shuhu is an Emanator of Yaoshi, considered as the "daughter of the Abundance". She's always with a scythe made with the body of Yaoshi and with the bones of her victims. She has a very sense of the sadism and she hates the humanity for all they have done to her.
Shuhu is a character of the Abundance who deals Quantum DMGS. She has three skills : One where she consumes the HP of the allies for increase DMGS and CRIT DMGS, and she attacks the enemies. An other where she consumes her HP for increase DMGS and CRIT DMGS, and where she attacks the enemies. And the last where she attacks the enemies for steal the HP of the enemies for heals her and the allies. In her ultimate, she consumes her HP and the allies's HP for increase her DMGS, her CRIT DMGS and her CRIT rate, and she attacks the enemies for steal the enemies's HP and heals the allies.
So, who is Athena ?
Athena is one of the Ten Lords, nicknamed as the Protector. She's always with a owl named Zhìhuì (nb : wisdom in Chinese (智慧)), and is a real master of the strategy and the war inventions, but she's also one of the more oldest members of the Ten Lords.
Athena is a character of the Harmony who can increase the DMGS and the ATK of the allies with her skill. Her talent can increase all the allies's RES PEN and their SPD. Her ultimate can increase all the allies's CRIT DMGS for 2 turns, for a chosen ally, she cans place her owl for 2 turns, who inflict additional DMGS on the enemy/enemies who the ally attacks. Also, if the ally get attack, the owl defend them with a counterattack.
So, who is Elio ?
Elio is the chef of the Stellaron Hunters (and if you don't know that, you must haven't touch HSR). I imagine him as a cat (practically not imagine, because it's quite official, but not official, so you know), but he uses his puppet... I doesn't draw him because I know that his design already be... You know what. I imagine him very kind and mysterious.
Elio is a character of the Preservation who can predict the DMGS of the allies. His skill would be a shield. For his ultimate, it's would add a status for all the allies and him : "Forecast of the Script". This effect would last one turn, and would cancel all the DMGS the allies receive.
So, who is Styx ?
AH-HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA ! You have to wait !

Fourth part :

The history would be in the Shìjiè-Chuán, and here is the principal plot :
First quest : " You and the Astral Express receive a mysterious call of Jing Yuan, who telling you that he have something important to said to you. The thing in question is that is a feast for the "saviors of the Luofu" (the Nameless) in the... Shìjiè-Chuán ?! Not time for chatting, Jing Yuan gives you the localisation of the mysterious ship, and the Astral Express start his new journey... "
Second quest : " After a few warp jumps, you finally reach the Shìjiè-Chuán, capital of the Xianzhou Alliance. After meet all of the Generals and the Lieutenant Xixian, it's finally the time for you to meet the Ten Lords, including the Fallen King and the Stellar Queen, real Marshals of the Alliance... "
Other quests...? You have to play~
The quest would be a quest long as Penacony... Maybe a little more... And there would be all the Nameless... Yes, Pom-Pom in the quest and he would use his powers ! If he has powers.
In the final boss of the Shìjiè-Chuán, the music would be like, if it's possible, of the song "Bad Apple". In the battle, the people singing for encouraging the ones who are fighting the final boss.
In the 1st phase, it's would be only the divine spirits who singing.
In the 2nd phase, it's would be all the soldiers and the divines spirits who singing.
In the 3rd and the final phase, it's would be all Xianzhou Alliance (yes, Lan included too !) who singing.
The "R" attack ( like the Dan Heng attack during the Phantylia fight ) would be all the divine spirits and the two Marshals conferring their power to the Trailblazer, and then, he/she slashes the boss.
So, it's the end of the post... If you have questions for clarify something, you can in comments, and I would be respond with pleasure !
Bye byeeeeee !

2024.05.20 18:31 MJBotte1 Kenshi Concept: Classes and Effects

Part 1: Welcome! Inspired by a post that crossed Baldur’s Gate 3 over with Kenshi (post linked at bottom), I’ve decided to make a real class system for the game! At least on paper.
This Class system has two goals: 1. Make gameplay and progression more interesting through extra ways to customize a character. 2. Expand the RPG elements of the title without requiring more grinding or too many new stats.
But before we go into the classes, there is one other major change to Kenshi this would add: Effects!
Part 2: What Are Effects? Effects are similar to both Perks and Traits from the Fallout series, changing aspects of your character and stats, including growth rates.
Each character would have a list of Effects you could look at any time. This includes the Experience Multipliers based on your character’s species.
Part 3: Getting A Class Throughout the world, you’ll find Class Books. These can be slotted into the new Class slots in your inventory. You have two slots, as each character gets a Combat Class and a Labor Class.
Each Class has a level, but that level is increased when you gain XP for a stat that the Class boosts. When you reach certain levels, you gain an Effect while equipped with that Class.
Some Classes also increase the level of other Classes at half the rate, as there are variants to fit certain factions and themes.
One last thing: Numbers can always be changed, so I focus more on if a number is increased or decreased.
Part 4: List Of Combat Classes
Martial Artist “Let your fists, and legs, do the talking!” XP Shared With: Liberator XP Buffs: Martial Arts, Dodge, Athletics XP Debuffs: All Weapon Skills, Perception
Level 10 Effect: Limber: Increases Athletics and Dexterity stats by 3%. Level 30 Effect: Artful Dodger: Increases Dodge stat by 5%. Level 50 Effect: Mechanical Ripper: When knocking out a Robot, automatically pull out a part from them to kill them instantly. Can be toggled on and off in the Effects menu. Level 80 Effect: Way Of The Fist: Increases Melee Attack, Melee Defense, and Martial Arts stats by 15%.
Wild Warrior “Be blunt with your assault.” XP Shared With: None XP Buffs: Blunt, Hackers, Melee Attack, Strength XP Debuffs: Other Weapon Skills, Melee Defense, Dexterity
Level 10 Effect: Seasoned: Increases Toughness stat by 3%. Level 30 Effect: Wild Strikes: Increase Dexterity stat by 1% for every attack you land without getting hit, up to 15%. Resets when hit. Level 50 Effect: Aggressor: Increases Melee Attack stat by 5%, decreases Melee Defense stat by 5%. Level 80 Effect: First Smash: Your first attack against an enemy deals 3x as much Blunt damage.
Samurai “Study the blade…” XP Shared With: None XP Buffs: Dexterity, Katanas XP Debuffs: Other Weapon Skills, Toughness
Level 10 Effect: Bladework: Increases Katanas stat by 5%. Level 30 Effect: Swifter Slice: Increases Dexterity stat by 8%. Level 50 Effect: Well Equipped: Increase Melee Defense and Katanas stats by 10% when wearing a full suit of Samurai Armor. Level 80 Effect: Vengeance: Increases Dexterity and Melee Attack stats by 30% when a teammate is knocked out for 60 Seconds, losing 1% every 2 Seconds.
Ranger “Make them keep their distance.” XP Shared With: None XP Buffs: Perception, Crossbows, Turrets XP Debuffs: Strength, Toughness, Melee Defense
Level 10 Effect: Keen Eyed: Increases Perception stat by 8%. Level 30 Effect: Quick Swap: Swap between Primary and Secondary Weapons 50% faster. Level 50 Effect: Keep Firing: Increases Dexterity stat by 8%. Level 80 Effect: Shot After Shot: Every 3rd reload has a 50% chance to reload instantly.
Guardian “You can push back any enemy with a good polearm.” XP Shared With: None XP Buffs: Dexterity, Melee Defense, Polearms XP Debuffs: Melee Attack, Strength
Level 10 Effect: Drive Back: Increases Dexterity stat by 3%. Level 30 Effect: Defensive: Increases Melee Defense stat by 8%. Decreases Melee Attack stat by 8%. Level 50 Effect: Walking Stick: Increases Athletics by 25% when equipped with a Polearm. Level 80 Effect: Master Defender: Increases Melee Defense by 20% when Block is turned on.
Liberator “Tinfist knows how to throw hands, especially in the name of justice.” XP Shared With: Martial Artist XP Buffs: Martial Arts, Dodge, Lockpicking XP Debuffs: All Weapon Skills, Perception
Level 10 Effect: Limber: Increases Athletics and Dexterity by 3%. Level 30 Effect: Tin Fists: Increases Melee Attack stat by 3% for each mechanical limb. Level 50 Effect: Liberation: 20% of your Martial Arts XP goes towards Lockpicking instead. Can be toggled on and off in the Effects menu. Level 80 Effect: Way Of The Fist: Increases Melee Attack, Melee Defense, and Martial Arts stats by 15%.
Obviously there need to be a lot more classes, but I hope this shows the structure. Next up, we have Labor Classes!
Part 5: List Of Labor Classes
Farmer “It ain’t much, but it’s honest work.” XP Shared With: None XP Buffs: Labouring, Farming, Toughness XP Debuffs: None
Level 10 Effect: Familiarization: Use Machinery 15% faster. Level 40 Effect: Bumper Crop: 15% chance to double farming yield. Level 80 Effect: Back Breaking: Increases Toughness stat by 10%.
Chef “Make the best of what little food there is.” XP Shared With: None XP Buffs: Cooking, Farming, Dexterity XP Debuffs: None
Level 10 Effect: Secret Techniques: Cook and Brew 15% faster. Level 40 Effect: Freaky Fast: Cook 20% faster. Level 80 Effect: Dinner And A Show: Increases Dexterity stat by 5%.
Constructor “If you build it, you will get fed.” XP Shared With: None XP Buffs: Engineering, Labouring, Strength XP Debuffs: None
Level 10 Effect: Group Effort: Increase build speed by 3% for every teammate with this Effect working on the build. Level 40 Effect: Well Packed: Build supplies weigh 50% less if they are in your backpack. Level 80 Effect: Sixteen Tons: Increases Strength stat by 16%.
Like the Combat Classes, more are to be added, but these are a few examples.
Part 6: Extra Effects Just for fun, since I have this whole Effect system in place, here are a few more you could get from doing things in the game, unrelated to Class and Species.
Comeback King: Increases Toughness stat by 3%. Obtain: Get knocked out and recover 3 times.
Bounty Hunter: Increases Strength and Athletics stats by 2%. Obtain: Bring in any bounty for any faction.
Shek Kin: Increases Strength, Toughness, and Melee Attack by 2%. Obtain: Do anything to become allies with the Shek.
World Champion: Increases ALL stats by 5%. Obtain: Defeat The Bugmaster and Cat-Lon.
Part 7: Thank You! Thanks for reading this! I really want to hear your feedback and suggestions.

2024.05.20 18:16 ggfsdfdgfdgf MTB conversion to 1x

Hello,
I'll try to keep it short. Yet another 1x conversion post, but I think each one is unique, so please help me out.
My wife has a "Schwinn Women's Ranger 26" Mountain Bike". Her BB is making a cracking noise, so it's due. I got her another bike, but she's so used to this one, she insists to stick with it. Her habits are such, that she only uses the middle (32T) chainring. She mostly pedals on 7th gear, in the back. She does NOT need to pedal faster than that. The shell width appears to be 68mm.
I've already replaced the chain (Schwinn, 112 Links - 1/2" x 3/32") and freewheel (Shimano MF-TZ500). Now I want to replace the entire crank set, converting it to 1x. I need recommendation on a (32T or 34T) crankset that would fit as best as possible, keeping in consideration chain line. I am thinking "Shimano Deore 12 Fc-M6130 Crankset" + "SHIMANO BB-MT501 English Bottom Bracket - English, 68/73mm".
To clarify further, this bike is gently used on concrete paved trails, with some rolling hills. Nothing extreme.
To summarize the drivetrain:
Thanks

2024.05.20 14:52 Enough-Barracuda-947 Comic book script

Chapter 6: STAND -OFF!

Page 105.
Brrzzzzz… Boom! Squuuuuaaash… Blam blam blam!
( violence in the streets, guns going off and superpowers clashing )
Ranger: Bounty hunter L. Pablo “El Diablo” went berserk in the Main Street. Captain Reck “ Desire “ Lesley is taking him on at the moment!!
( They are communicating with cockroach-telephone big animal device on rangers back. )
Mayor: Well isn’t that disappointing… It was a surprise for sure but a welcome one, when El Diablo entered the city. He would have been a valuable ally in our operation.
Tall Masked individual: That beast truly does whatever it’s appointed too. Even if it means facing alone a war against a town full of rangers.
(Visual: The villains gathered around at a long dinner table, having a feast in a big classy room inside the armor train.)
Whisper 2: Recruiting El Diablo to operate the trains security was to make sure that he would not cause any chaos during the event …
Whisper 1: - to have him closely monitored. I ponder what was his true objective in this town?
Tall Masked individual: He can’t be aware of our presence here. He would have gone after us otherwise.
Small masked individual with feminine voice: How could you know that?! He’s probably causing all this ruckus now to get to me!?
-I’m not safe here, I’m not safe here, I’m not safe here!!!
-Kill him immediately!
Masked individual: Easier said… than done… my lov-
Small masked individual: Did you say something! Stop mumbling and speak up!
(Visual: Breaks a glass in her hand)
Page 106.
Whisper 1: Whatever is the case… He’s no longer on our side so we must neutralize him.
Whisper 2: Rangers… It will be futile effort trying to arrest him. Take him down once and for all.
Ranger: T-Take him down?? S-Sir yes Sir!
—Clank! ( phone line shut)
Charlie Chamberlane: ( in a calm tone ) Sir. With all and no due respect. That weakling Lesley ain’t got the guts to bring down a “5 * state threat” like El Diablo.
Whisper 2: General, is worried about the captain's safety?
Charlie Chamberlane: I don’t care what happens to Reck Lesley! That coward has been avoiding Wild world voyages for too long now.
(Visual: in the same panel Chibi Reck making funny excuses to avoid going to wild world: My gun jammed in the morning and had to get it fixed, I missed my sword, Dog ate my uniform…)
-By doing so he has undermined his status as the captain of 0* state rangers… If it was up to me… I wouldn’t have a coward like that handling such a high ranking position!
Whisper 1: Shall we send more reinforcements then?
Whisper 2: Maybe we should sent you two there to even up the scales. What do you say?
Porro: …
Madam star eyes: It would be our pleasure sir.
Mayor: Well, I believe that the time has come for the captain to show his true value to our state!
( Smirking and winking to Charlie)
Charlie Chamberlane: Yeah… Come to think of it, maybe he could handle it. Beh heh-heh-heh…
Mayor: Your past with Captain Lesley is affecting your vision on this matter my friend. Besides! We shouldn’t concern ourselves with the result of this battle.
-This alcohol fuelled brawl is nought but just a distraction, and it will not affect the bigger picture being painted. We have foreseen all of this!
Page 107.
Panel:
Ranger: Captain Lesley!
-Clank! (Phone line shutting down)
Desire Lesley: I heard him! (Visual: Saving people from the rubble)

L PABLO: RAAHAHHAAHAA!
( VISUAL: we see the battlefield with rangers laying on the ground. Buildings on fire. L Pablo holding a ranger in his arm. Shooting with his rifle at the same time.)
Page 108.
Desire Lesley: Oh yeah? How about you stop attacking like a drunken viking,
(Visual: Reck charging at L Pablo. Shooting with his revolver at L Pablo who takes on the bullets like nothing happened. Bullets just ricochet off him.)
L Pablo: I'm trying to make a spectacle here!
SFX: CLASH!
( L pablo and Desire Lesley come in contact, big blow)
Reck Lesley: Oh, so I’m not good enough for you now?
-Is the area secure deputy ranger??
-Wait, you’re still alive?!
Page 109.
Panel:
Wojak: Yes Captain Lesley! No civilians in this area! You can go all out now! Thoughts: He remembered me…
( Visual: Wojak holding tears in from breaking with a comical expression in his face)
Panel:
Desire Lesley: Good Job!
Wojak: No worries Captain! In his thoughts: Can’t remember the last time someone complimented me…
Visual: Even more comical expression tears falling down on his face while holding a mask to cover him. The mask has a expression of serious eyes and smile)
Desire Lesley: Never thought I could get my chance of rematch here in the Frontier. But this works perfectly as I have no ambitions going back there in the wild.
L Pablo: Don’t like the weather?
Panel:
Desire Lesley: The last time we met, I wasn’t strong enough to even leave a scratch on a single one of you bastards…
( SFX: Brrrrrzzzz! Energy waves sparkling of his sword)
Panel:
L Pablos thoughts: This mix of wild spirits aura living inside that damned blade, combined with the Imaginations prowess coming from that youth.
( short flashback) L Pablo remembers in state of awe how young child, Desire Lesley, destroyed huge amount of Wendigos and his monster mentality, after everybody on his side had left him alone in the battlefield protecting a caravan full of women and children )
L Pablo: How can he be still standing…
Younger El Diablo sibling: You still wanna play kid!? We’re in a hurry here and my friends are starving because of you!
The oldest El Diablo sibling: One of you put him out of his misery already… It’s cruel to keep lovers away from each other…
Panel:
Young Reck Lesley: Camoon then! Try and take my life!! I won’t die before I have completed our duty!!! I will take all of you monsters with me to hell if I have to!
L Pablo: Keheh… I bet you’re that type of person who prefers their end to be slow and painful…
Reck Lesley: You look the opposite! Cough! So I’ll show you some mercy and offer you the quick and the painless option!!
L Pablo: KEEEHEHEHEHE…
Page 110.
L Pablo: …Heheheeh.
-Now I remember you…
-You’ve become a bit taller for sure! Sounds like a fun reunion, let’s run it back. Now, since I’m clearly so much stronger!
-Hit me with everything you got. Take your revenge against the El Diablo family right here, right now! -For all of those poor souls we have taken prematurely from this world!! Take everything you got built inside of you and put it out on me!
-Fair enough Captain Lesley?
Desire Lesley: …Fair?
SFX: Bwoooommm!!!
(Visual: Sword releases even more thicker and stronger energy wawes.)
Desire Lesley: If I was demanding for fairness in this disproportionate world I would be labeled as a delusional privileged brat. Only thing I ask for is the power to do what I want! Ironically, I got what I wished for… This sword is the physical manifestation of that desire!
Page 111.
L Pablo: Interesting. ( visual: touches an old scar on his neck ) I know that blade all too well. How about it? Can you handle the weight of it?
Reck Lesley: !?
( Visual: Triggered expression)
-STAND -OFF!
El Diablo: !!??
Page 112.
Naivi and Madame moving towards the town on Mama moving saloon:
Madame: I could tell when I felt your vibe that you had some sort of abilities. It’s a rare thing in itself to be infused with a wild spirit but do you know what “Stand offs” are?
Naivi: Huh… You mean when two gunslingers face off? Or do yo-
Madame: So you don’t?
-Sheesh!
Naivi: What?
Madame: If you wanna throw hands with one of the infamous EL Diablo siblings without a Stand off it could get pretty ugly, pretty quickly…
(Visual: Naivi just enjoying the views)
Naivi: You assume a lot… My father taught me since I was young to appreciate and harness my imagination!
Madame: That’s good I guess… Let me educate you quickly.
-Basically what stand offs are: The manifestation of one's imagination prowess working in synergy with their wild spirit! Anyone with wild spirit can activate their “ special power ” once they have successfully learned how to use and access their imagination!
Anyone with wild spirit can use this power when they have been connected to their imaginations prowess.
-There’s this genius living in the 5* state called DR JOALIN EXTRAVAPENZA who cracked down how our imagination works and how to weaponize it!
The neocortex and thalamus control the brain's imagination, along with many of the brain's other functions such as consciousness and abstract thought.
Through a combination of neuroscience, quantum physics, and ancient wisdom traditions, Dr. Extravapenza presents practical techniques and meditative practices to tap into the innate potential of the human brain and body. By understanding and harnessing the principles of neuroplasticity and epigenetics, people can learn to rewire their brains, heal from past traumas, and create new powers and abilities for themselves.
( Visual: Madame pulled out a huge chalkboard out and has a long stick in her hand and a book)
Naivi: ZZZ…ZZZ…ZZZ
Madame: NO ONE SLEEPS ON MY CLASS!
(Visual: slaps naivi on the wrist)
Naivi: Aiaiai… That’s gonna need some ice on it…
Ok?! Know how to use this power then?
Madame: Sure do!
Naivi: Good for you!
Page 113.

(Visual: Madame grabs Naivis mouth to move his lips as if he was saying-)
-Wow Drunken Darer! Good thing you’re here to tell me all about this power before I challenge a damn devil to a duel! May I ask, how this amazing power works, please?
Naivi: Stop that…
Madame: Oh I’ll tell you! It’s a one hit wonder, all in wager, with you and your opponent's life on the line! It releases your spirit and imagination to the physical world. The user after is drained completely off their imagination prowess, so you need to use it carefully… When you get good at controlling your standoff you can decide how much imaginary prowess you wanna put into the technique.
Naivi: Cool… Is there a lame way to access and use this power…?
Madame: Yes!
-LAME!?
SFX:PUNCH!
Madame: So ungrateful…
visual: Naivi K.O in the ground mumbles: Just like when Ma used to try to teach me math… Back home…
Page 114.
Listen! You have to be completely relaxed, control your breath and imagine. Simple isn’t it? Basically being in a state of absolute calmness with every fibre of your body, breathing in a way that optimises your oxygen circulation trough out the body. And the imagination part is just a matter of a positive attitude and repetition -Oh, and belief is a big part of it too… ! And umm… What page was I? Spoken words impact on persons prowess… no, not that.
(Visual: Madame scrambling through books pages.)
(Visual: Naivi looks confused)
Madame: I’m no scientist and this is a complex matter to teach to a halfwit in a couple of minutes!
(Visual: Naivi picking his nose)
Naivi: …Huh?
Madame: …
(Visual: Madame scratching her nose, not responding anymore)
Naivi: …!
Naivi:-PLEASE TELL ME!!!
( In an overly dramatic way, grabs Madame’s collar, shaking her aggressively in a desperate attempt to know the secret. Comedy…)
Page 115.
Madame: Oh now you’re interested! You’re wrong punk!
(Visual: Madame punches Naivi again— laying on the ground) - Agh… At this rate I’ll be all beat up before even meeting the bull guy…
Madame: It’s an extremely complex skill to master. But one you must learn if you wish to survive in the wild! Oh and everyone has different stand-offs unique to their imagination and wild spirit. My ability is to turn dead living beings into objects for my personal arsenal to aid me in difficult situations!
-But after mastering these techniques you basically trigger the ability with the words:
SFX: Exhale. Inhale.
SFX: Poof
(visual: Small white bunny looking pistol appears in Madame’s hand)
Naivi laying on the ground all beat up: Wow wow wow… That looks cool actually… Hmm…
…Stand off…
BOOOOOOM!
Everybody: WOAH ???!!!
Page 116.
Narrator: Back to the fight in hand.
El Diablo: He knows how to use it??
Reck Lesley: Stand Off! ——- Life’s fabric / Cutting technique!! —— Realm splitting distortion!!!
Page 117.
GAZ-Z—ZZ-ZOOOOOOMMM!!!!!
VISUAL: Wave of energy goes off in the form of a huge slash. Page tearing picture. Massive attack. The scenery turns heavily black and white. Super bright light where the slash connects with L Pablos body.

2024.05.20 09:16 JuicedJack [PC][2000s] Online Flash Game / MMO where all players are archers. Sonic Armor.

I remember spending hours and hours as a child playing an online web-based flash game around 2005 or so. It was low-budget and probably made by 1-3 people. There was probably ~10 hours of content or such total.
The game functioned similarly to looked somewhat like the MMO Stick Online.
Flash-style graphics.
All players were very small and their equipment had a head slot, armor slot and weapon slot.
All players were rangers using bows shooting arrows and progression was upgrading your gear.
There could be 20+ players on a screen at once.
You progressed through screens / the world and killed monsters for either gold or their weapons / armor upgrades. The starting areas had you shooting slimes for gold. There were a few screens that contained shops / etc.

I distinctly remember the end-game armor being light-blue and the helmet was shaped like and a reference to Sonic's hair. Most players ran around using this armor as it was the best. You had to grind the end-game boss being a dragon in a cave for the armor to drop from them, so often this boss room was quite full.

Here's my faint memory of the last bosses area.

2024.05.20 03:38 falconpunch1989 Cassette Beasts is a very good Pokemon-like

Recently ran through Cassette Beasts on Xbox after it sitting on the to-do list for a long while, and happy to say that I highly recommend it, especially for lapsed Pokemon fans looking for a hit but unsatisfied with the current series direction.
Cassette Beasts has a lot of the trappings of a typical Pokemon game but puts unique spins on all of them. Most of these changes aren't necessarily better or worse, just different and a welcome change. It's nice to be able to explore through a monster collecting game without knowing every play in the book off by heart.
The premise for your adventure is that you've fallen into a parallel world of sorts, along with everyone else there, where local beasts can be copied onto cassette tapes. The game leans into this cassette retro aesthetic in a few different ways, like evolutions being called 'remasters' and shinies being 'bootlegs', as well as characters, plot points and visual effects.
There are "gym leaders" in the form of Ranger Captains, but these aren't really the focus of the main quest. Rather, the main quest sees you taking on boss monsters which tie into your quest to escape the alternate reality island you're trapped on.
Battles are always in double or swarm format, against other trainers, wild monsters, or bosses. This is where the most notable twists on the Poke-formula come in. Type matchups are based around "chemical reaction" status effects rather than doubling or halving damage. Fire on water causes steam, which heals the water beast. Glass can be shattered. Grass can be burned. Some give damage, defence or speed modifications. Others cause type changes entirely. Combined with the ability to give your monsters 8 (or more) moves, it's a quite in-depth system that can, if the player wishes, feed into some advanced buildcrafting. After battling, the main level-up system is tied to the player rather than the monster so you can change party composition with a fairly minimal grind to having a viable fighter. Each monster tape also has its own level which mostly determines moves learned and evolution.
I don't think the chemical type system is necessarily better than the series that inspired it, but I can't stress enough how much I enjoyed playing something different. Most of the game's difficulty is pretty manageable, but there are definite spikes where you are pushed to improve your monsters. This is achieved more through movelist choices than grinding, which is nice. Also, the battles in Cassette Beasts are super snappy and don't get bogged down in explanation text and slow animations, which is a major selling point for me.
Monster character design is important for this kind of game. I don't think Cassette Beasts brings the memorable charm that Pokemon nails time and time again, even up to 1000+ monsters. There are definitely some cool ones, but overall they don't stick this aspect quite as well. On the other hand, the fusion system is a blast, resulting in some staggering 14000 different possible combinations. These aren't all designed by hand, the game has some sort of generation tool to make this work surprisingly seamlessly.
The 2.5D graphical style is pleasingly reminiscent of GBA or DS era RPGs and suits the gameplay well. Worth a note is the music, which has some great vocal tracks that pop into action during major battle moments as well as during the island's central hub town. The main battle and world tracks are nice and sticky without quite rising to iconic-tier.
After completing the main quest at around 25 hours I was comfortably ready to put the game down. Turn based battling was starting to wear thin for me and I'm trying to let go of completionism for my own sake, but for many players it would be worth sticking around for some post-game quests lines and catching em all. The high battle system skill ceiling has more depths to mine for dedicated players who want to challenge themselves against tougher content. 10 years ago I probably could have spent double the amount of time on this game and asked for more.
Cassette Beasts is a very good Pokemon alternative. The differences and improvements from its obvious inspirations are all worthwhile, and nails most things from a pure gameplay perspective. Being such an obvious homage, the less-than-iconic monster and character design work against it a little bit. Comparing to the OG 151 designs, music and story will always be an impossible bar to clear.
Cassette Beasts probably sits just below "essential" tier gaming but nevertheless highly recommended for fans of the genre.

2024.05.19 18:18 potatosaladXIII LF: RP Timezone-Friendly MU*S

CONTEXT: I live in Southeast Asia (SEA). You can imagine how I always find myself in the short end of a stick when communities schedule an event (RP, OOC) at 3-4 AM in my timezone.
The solution of overcoming such skill issue by destroying my body clock is thwarted by continuous bouts of existential crisis and adulting failures. The other solution of migrating to the West is as achievable as me punching the surface of the moon.
WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR:
I'm open to Hack-and-Slash (top pic) and MUSH.
Theme: Medieval, High Fantasy, The Genre Where It is Be Acceptable to Open a Coffee Shop But All the Menu are Poisoned
note: cohesive and unified theme is key. I am a very low-tier not smart person, so anything that throws me out of the loop will take me 1-2 business days to recover (if the entirety of the post itself isn't evident enough).
PRIOs
  1. An RP (Encouraged/Supported) MU*s that has a community.
This community in question may be many or one person. I don't care if you are alone. If we can RP out our developing characters or gossip like generic NPCs sign me up. Events may be player-initiated or coordinated with staff.
  1. An Immersive Environment.
I like to see them environments seasoned, cooked, and served on a sizzling plate with a sprinkle of delusional to liven up the RP experience.
  1. Character + Item Customization
Obviously, descriptions are the basis for me to fulfill my hobo/aristrocatic/hermit dreams but self-expression is a plus for me. a.) crafting system b.) classes with "flavor" (see no. 2)
SECONDARY
  1. An Acceptable Level of PvE Grind.
JRPGs have raised me to become a farming sadist so EXP grinds are acceptable to me.
  1. Limited to No PvP
I can enter in manual PvP or use a code that doesn't explode on me like Chat-GPT's essays getting caught in plagiarism checkers. If that PVP needs a system or some money-dropping scheme, you can bet that I'm noping outta there.
  1. Maps
Mapless MU*s is my major weakness. I don't care if I accidentally step into a high level area as a low levelled trash bag. I care when I circle around the area for twenty minutes just to get from Point A to Point B. But I can manage (coping)
FINAL NOTE
  1. no, I don't ERP.
  2. no, I don't have solid picks of what class I'm going to be because it's entirely dependent on the game's lore. But, previous class picks from my current MU*s are:
a.) vampire (i'm edgy and i haven't seen the sun in weeks)
b.) bard (I can't rhyme and I have no rizz)
c.) mage (I can do research rp but I nerf my IRL and IC selves with immense imposter syndrome and delulu unless the research in question deals with the voices in your head)
d.) ranger (bows are cool)
Thanks! Looking forward to hear some recos!

2024.05.19 17:03 appledanish Teams similar to NYR who succeed despite underwhelming returns when drafting top 10?

With the New York Rangers making their second Conference Finals appearance in 3 seasons, it got me thinking how they've had a really nice 3 year run despite somewhat lackluster returns with their early first round selections during their rebuild.
2017 (7th overall) Lias Andersson - Andersson's draft pick was acquired along with Tony DeAngelo by trading Arizona Derek Stepan and Antti Raanta, but he only played 66 games over 3 seasons with NY with 3 goals and 6 assists. Later traded for a 2nd round pick that became Will Cuylle.
2018 (9th overall) Vitali Kravtsov - Played 48 games with NY with 5 goals and 5 assists, later traded for William Lockwood and a 7th round pick.
2019 (2nd overall) Kaapo Kakko - Still with the team, in 300 games played he has 57-60-117. Thought he might have taken a step last year with 40 points in 81 games but then this season only has 13-6-19 in 61 games. There is definitely still time for him to develop and improve, but he is not currently a driver on what is otherwise a Stanley Cup contender.
2020 (1st overall) Alexis Lafreniere - Noticeable jump in production this season, firmly a top 6 player. I know usage was a big part of his narrative during the first few years in the league, but looks like he has levelled up in year 4. Still curious to see what his ceiling is, high expectations considering he was selected first overall.
Just curious if there are other teams who have found team success despite not hitting on top 10 picks in a run similar to this. I know even top 10 picks are no guarantee to be stars in the NHL, but this string of 4 stand out a bit to me. Andersson and Kravstov are gone from the organization, so their standing won't change. Kakko might have something more, we'll see if NY sticks with him or tries to sell another team on acquiring a former 2nd overall pick. Lafreniere is clearly the best player of the quartet, and has improved in a linear fashion, still too early to make a definitive ruling on his career. But will be curious to see what the perception of him will be if he never hits 30+goals/point per game type numbers consistently.
If you crunch the numbers, I'm sure the real world results of these 4 players selected at the slots that they were are closer to expected than fans might think, but I think it's impressive for the Rangers to be where they are without significant contributions outside of Lafreniere. I know the allure of New York City is key to attracting free agents, but they've done a great job returning to contender status despite not fully hitting on all of these selections.

The flash daymares hadn’t stopped. Four nights since they’d set in, and now those two fire and brimstone eyes were lingering, waiting to come out when I was asleep. I’d thought that first daymare had been a fluke. It’d felt real, getting chomped up like that, crushed. But... ah.
I’d had more. Once I was in the mouth of that Arxur who’d kicked down the tree. Then I was in the cages with Hens Jr and Sr, and Alma... And each time if there was time for it that swampheaded, red eyed, smokey Arxur would come on in. Try and guilt me like I’d done something wrong.
It was working.
“Yiv. Yiv! I think I got it!” I blinked, my stupor broken by Junior. The kid had been a good help with the computer system since we’d let him fiddle with it instead of me. Much to my... begrudging admission: he was better at it. So, I stood from the chair and headed over to him. The monitor and console were lit up good as new, but they’d been like that for a couple nights now. We’d finally got access to a local map when that’d happened. Or rather a map of the surrounding area, outdated as it was it still had the location of the city on it. It wasn’t like anything had significantly changed in the past hundreds of years since this place had been abandoned. It had been the whole ‘trying to page it into the rest of the old systems at the outpost’ part that’d eluded Juniors little pet project.
“What did you get?” I replied, leaning over his shoulder with a paw on the console while he typed at it.
He cleared his throat. “W-well. I was able to find the wire that’d been causing the problem with the connection to the outpost’s server.” A server? What?
“What do you mean a server? I thought the only computer systems in here were in this room?” He turned his head, a brown eye winking at me. “Nuh-uh! Were you even listening when I explained it earlier? It’s more than just a weather monitoring station. It had a server, otherwise why would it need so many type-v connectors. See?” He pointed a claw to the bundle of wiring running up the wall and into a concrete hole that looked to lead to the next floor above us. Probably. I hadn’t really cared about how many wires there were.
“So... there’s more than just the databanks here in this room?” I asked. My eyes were tasked with looking over the monitor with pursed lips. I’d dug through some ye olde outpost files in the past nights for my journalist program but evidently I’d been missing things if all it took was one kid who had a knack for tech to ascertain there was more to these places.
Before my question could be answered though the command lines and startup protocols on the operating system for the thing had popped by and opened up onto a familiar desktop of our more modern tech. Junior went about clicking immediately to some command line and writing in some jibberish... And- my eyes widened. “What’s that?” I asked, pointing my claw to all the commands on his little black background’d screen.
1: Status
2: Logs
3: Garage Door
4: Barrack Override
5: Communications
Were among the top five, with a half dozen more I didn’t quite have time to think on. “Quick- quick! The uh- There’s a garage?” Don’t get distracted Yivreen. Ahhh moss-heaps.. “The Barrack Override. See what that does.”
The boy swatted away my paw trying to push at it. “Calm down! Calm down jeez, fine!” He jammed his digit into the corresponding number and pressed enter. A few moments passed as it simply displayed three dots. I waited... I waited.. Cmoooo-
Clank. VV-vv-vvv-veeeeeee....
It sounded like something behind the wall to our left was trying to unrust itself and move. A couple hundred years of not moving or being maintained had probably ensured it’d never get moving smooth again. Then of course the universe proved me wrong, and the wall actually shifted. The rounded metal slab I’d taken for a part of the tower’s superstructure began to lower, and behind it... “Holy shit.”
I don’t know where the extreme language had come from but... Wow. My eyes lit. Bunks. Bedding. Lockers.. It looked like the room beyond had been some sort of lodging area for soldiery when this place was built. But there’d been a grow-in on the back wall from a massive root. Snaring part of the room in its gripping-vinelike vice grip. The root was long dead, and the hole it’d bored through the concrete had left the inside exposed to the elements a touch more than if it’d just been left... At least there wasn’t much evidence of water damage.
“Yiv? Are you-” But I was already headed through the way, a paw on my pistol as I glanced around the abandoned room. My mind went right to checking out the lockers, which turned out to be a good idea. My little training sessions into understanding the named bits for guns with Alma were about to start paying off.
“We’ve got guns. Or... Something like guns.” I announced, pulling out the carrying case and flipping it open. Inside I found what looked to be a.. Hrm- no magazine, no bullets... I lifted it up, the rifle-like hardened carbon material was in remarkably good shape. Probably due to the case and materials, but something was different about it. I glanced my eyes over it, noting the electronic aiming system on top which... when I clicked at it offered a red circle for looking through the little scope with. Huh. Not a common thing to find on a Cyonian designed weapon, at least not these nights. This place was old, but this weapon looked like it’d been built by something more ambitious than Federation paws. Federation handhelds were all modified from the same combustion based lead belchers. A fact that rarely ever went unspoken on our own networks when we needed a reason to criticize Aafa.
It took a while longer, but eventually I did find a snap-button on the back of the trigger grip that made something inside it hum to life. My eyes widened. “It’s... An energy weapon.” I murmured. My tail flicking in apprehension. Would it even still fire? The red blinking just below the button told me it must have no power perhaps but... “Hey. Junior. You think you could figure out how to charge one of these guys-?”
I turned my head to see the kid standing at the threshold with his tail in his paws, gripping them anxiously. “Yiv. The uh. The communications aren’t working, but I think the garage door might open if we try it. It could be that cropping of wall and sealed door we figured the old power system must have been housed in right?” He glanced to the rifle in my paws. “I mean, if it uses the same standards as the computer out here it should still be compatible with our stuff. But- we don’t have anything to charge power packs of that size.” He pointed to the fixture sticking out the bottom of the stock. Hrm, he was right.
“See if you can’t get the garage open. I’ll keep looking in here and see if there’s something to help with that.” Came my own voice, I felt... Giddy. Alive. The potential to fight back was intoxicating. Before all I’d had was this dinky pistol I’d used to... kill a couple of the greys. But if we could bring the fight to their patrols, save more people-
I shook my head. Why was I thinking like this? I couldn’t stand up to an invasion fleet. I’d been a frightened Sivkit on the first night of the attack. I- I’d stampeded. I couldn’t remember any of it, but the chance I’d trampled someone in my panic was not zero. I might have contributed to someone being crushed... I’d failed Els, that soldier I’d dragged into the house. Obelisk I couldn’t even keep my mind straight in a fight with those howling, laughing Arxur in my head. The campfire fight had been a fluke!
I didn’t quite know how long I just sat there, staring at the rifle beating myself up, but eventually I was shaken from it by Keick when she sat beside me, an arm on my shoulder. “Hey. I heard you and Junior had a bit breakthrough eh?” She said non-chalantly. I could tell though, even with the chipper tone she’d read me. The accountant knew I’d been in one of my little moods. She’d known me the longest of anyone here, everyone else was like... a pack of convenience? Maybe not Junior. Keick and I had survived the woods together. I’d pulled her from her own hells next to that burning car.
“Hey.” I returned back. “Yeah. Junior got the servers working. Or something like that.” I pointed a claw over at the computer, only to notice he was gone now. I blinked. Had I been out of it that long?
Keick filled in the hole in my head. “He went with his old man to go check out the garage.” Oh. Yeah.
I looked around, “Ah. The guns. We have guns now. Real guns.” I explained, holding the one I had in my paws up for her to inspect.
“Doesn’t look like any gun I’ve seen.” She mused back, taking it from my grip. My body was moving on its own now, rummaging deeper into the lockers. Some of these cases had been broken by the snaring, smaller branches of the grow-in. The firearms within cracked open and busted. Probably no good at all, exposed to the ambient humidity as they had been for so long. Still, couple of the other rifle cases were good. We had weapons, plural. Binoculars? Got em. Spare power packs that needed charging? Got em. There was a lot of survival gear here. Like a militarized ranger outpost had been stationed here. The synthetic material of the camouflaged cloak I found proudly proclaimed it’d reflect thermal scanning on its faded label even! “Either the old rangers from before the treaties were really into operator stuff or the Obelisk put all this here just for us.” I murmured.
Keick, for her part seemed to be looking it all over with a little inventory in her head. Already tapping in the number of each item into her dataslate. “Well. I’d go with the former. The Obelisk hasn’t been around for us lately.” Came the reply as she poked a claw at one of the now entirely spoiled ration packs. “Still, there’s enough stuff here you could arm a squad of soldiers probably. If you know where we can find some spare soldiers that is.”
I flicked my ear at the poor humoured joke. “Ahuh.” Came my reply. “Maybe you should go try the radio again, they’d love to get their paws on stuff like this I think. Pre-war tech actually made to fight predators like this is rare.” Which begged the question... Why did the cloak boast about defeating thermals? These outposts were dated after our discovery and incorporation into the Federation as an early member, and WELL before the Arxur war. So why had we built cloaks like these? Was this equipment used during the years when we’d resisted the burning of our forests and jungles? If so, it meant it might have been auhh... much more violent then the archives made it out to be. Maybe there was a story here? My inner journalist was theorizing.
___________________________
I’d had to pick my jaw up off the ground after headed over to the garage. Hens Senior and Alma were leaned over the the opened hood of what looked like a remarkably still intact forest rover. The design was actually recognizable, having not changed much from what we had tonight. Six thick grooved tires, a buggy-like cockpit four seater set in the middle, and a back and top rack for storing anything you could want. “Is it working?” I asked the obvious as I stepped inside, noting Junior sat off to the side, fiddling with some wall mounted box or other. He didn’t look to actually know what he was doing beyond dusting it off and giving it a deep stare.
“I wouldn’t think so.” Came the chime of Keick, who’d followed me inside. It was around now my monocular visioned eyes were noting the various tools and spare parts laying around in the garage. Whoever had last been here had left in a hurry seemingly, because it was mostly stocked. No mess on all the immensely dusty parts. I could see a couple smaller fauna in the corners. A lizard here, a rodent there. Obviously there had been some way they’d chewed their way in at some point... Or they’d come in when the door was opened to the bustle and noise of the forest to my back.
It was Senior who looked back at my question, standing to his full height before leaning his back against the old vehicle. “No. It isn’t working. Or at least it won’t be until I figure a way to give the battery juice.” I tilted my head.
“Is it one of those older ones that zap out after a hundred years or so?” Came my obvious question.
He flicked his tail no. “It’s got one of the standard ones, it’s just that it stopped auto-cycling a couple hundred years ago. The electric motor looks like it should work if we pop it on. But we’ll have to see.” He glanced around the workshop. “I want to say we could probably get it working with the tools we have, but if the battery can’t be jumped, or it’s spent, or the motor needs a complete replacement we’re up a creek on getting it working.” It sounded like he knew a bit about it.
The feeling of my face scrunching ever so much came. “You didn’t tell me you were a handyman.” I said, crossing my arms.
“Well it never came up.” He said back with an affable smile. “Listen, it’s been a long couple weeks. Don’t get all spotty with me. We didn’t have anything a hobbying mechanic could fix anyhow.” Just a roll of the eyes from myself is all that met him as Keick spoke up, stepping over to the other three.
“So what’re you gonna jump it with?” She asked incredulously, leaning over the open cabin. From there I sort of... zoned out. All the older Cyonians present were bickering and blathering about the buggy which was quickly losing interest for me. I didn’t understand anything about mechanics like that beyond the bare minimum, so it was out of my purview. If they got it working that’d be another thing but I wouldn’t have been any help right now, so instead I placed a couple careful paws down until I was beside Junior, sitting next to him as he seemed to be eyeballing some far too faded label.
He had a paw lightly rubbing out the dust that’d caked an outlet, still one brown eye fixed on the label. All I could make out myself was the little yellow square symbol warning of an electric charge hazard. Weird to think even now those hadn’t changed. Had Federation technology really not changed all that much? Was it just us? A sigh. “So. What’s got your your nose twitching little dude?”
The past couple nights he’d gotten better with his anger, and... hadn’t destroyed any important tech in a fit of rage. All he’d needed was something to set himself to in a difficult situation like this. Keich had been right to set him on that computer. And.. I’d felt myself trying to encourage him along the way. Partly because I had an investment in getting those maps, and then partly because he’d ended up filling in a spot in my head like a younger cousin. Him and his old man had only been around for a little bit, but I guess maybe I didn’t want to think too hard about what had probably happened to my real family. For now, maybe I felt the most ‘at home’ around Keich and this little tinkerer. Was that weird? It felt like it should be weird.
He answered, looking up with a small upturn in his lips. “I think I found your energy cell charger for those guns you had.” He said simply. “One of the manuals over there wasn’t totally ruined, I saw something about a ‘optical projector weapon’ and ‘charger’ so I was trying to figure out if this was it. I... Think it might be, but I’d need one of those batteries to make sure.”
Now I felt like smirking. “Oh yeah? Well go get one swamp brain. Let’s see if these things still work huh?” Dutifully, he was up and off, tail shaking behind him in what I recognized as excitement. We weren’t totally defenceless anymore, and if the buggy could be salvaged there would be a means at least to relocate if we had to. Or... Maybe I could take a trip down to the city and paint a couple more of those scumbags red-
I shook my head. Where had that thought come from? If I was going back to Ataln it was to try and save more people... Yeah. I still needed to see if Gael was alive, maybe check that old house I’d left Els in. I don’t even know if I could find it now, knowing how scatterbrained I’d been at the time but- making a return to at least try seemed worth it.
Regardless, the box on the wall did turn out to be the correct port to charge energy cells for the guns. We’d just need to rig it up to the solar power system and juice them up to test them. Things were looking up! Our mobility had the potential to go from nights in every direction for shelter to mere hours, I’d just have to hope Senior knew what he was doing.
“Hey. Buddy.” I’d wrapped my arm around Junior’s shoulder. “Why don’t you go take a break for now huh? You were working on the computer all night. Maybe it’d be a good idea to just go relax. Enjoy how much you got done eh?” Besides. Gave me a good way to check out the logs page on the computer system myself before he stumbled on anything. It wasn’t like I didn’t trust him with it but- well there was no way to know what was in those logs.
He nodded, and with that I stood up, streeeetched out, and headed toward the tower. “Good, it’s your shift on the guard tower anyway.” I intoned politely. It was going to be a long day, assuming there was anything of substance in those logs... Scrounging through those would be preferable to sleeping right now anyway.

2024.05.19 02:05 PabstBlueLizard Quick Skitarii

Quick Skitarii
I was asked a while back to post how I do Skitarii quickly. So here you all go, hope it helps an aspiring Magos.
First I wash the sprue. People get worked up about this step, I don’t know why. Molds use release agent to get the sprues out and it doesn’t always get washed off completely. It takes 2 minutes to lightly brush dish soap over a box of skitarii and blot it dry. This assures your paint and glue stick well.
Bases are painted separately. I dab Vallejo diorama texture paint with a brush so it leaves texture and then prime it brown with rustoleum 2x brown. I dry brush two shades of beige, wash it with Vallejo flesh wash, and call it good. The base rims are painted black later.
I sub assemble the rest of the kit using chopped bits of sprue cemented to areas hidden later. Use cement, super glue leaves a disc of glue behind you have to scrape off later and you might damage paint.
I assemble the torsos with weapons and heads if it’s vanguard. Heads stay separate for rangers and are kept on the sprue because the attachment point is hidden.
Legs are kept separate, as are backpacks. Legs and backpacks get primed silver; if it’s nice out rustoleum 2x aluminum rattle can, if not airbrush primed black then hit with Vallejo air aluminum. The rattle can saves time and does it in one step. 2x aluminum is fantastic primer that goes on thin and easy.
I then paint my legs and my backpacks. Army painter speedpaint Talos bronze hits some details like wires, AP broadsword silver hits other, the bronze is washed with AP ruddy fur, and pants/pouches are painted Pro-Acryl dark warm grey. When all that dries (I use a hairdryer to speed run it) I wash the entire part thing with nuln oil.
Packs get finished with lenses colored in. Pick your favorite color, dab that on. Mix the color with white and put a swoosh in the bottom corner. Put a dot of white on the opposite top corner.
When I finish the legs I super glue them onto the base. If you care to, you can gentle clean the paint off the feet and scrap the base to use cement. I am lazy and this takes time I don’t want to spend. Also if Skitarii ever get an update and new base sizes, I can pop them off easily. With legs attached, I paint the base rims black and then gently pop the sprue off.
From start to finish this took me about three hours and I wasn’t hurrying.

2024.05.18 20:30 roseohseven Long first time trip report 5/13-5/18!

LOOOONG first time trip report! 5/13-5/18, stayed at Beach Club, visited all four parks, bought Genie+ every day, had the standard DDP. Family of 4, two girls 5 and 9. I learned so much from this group over the past year and especially loved trip reports, so hopefully this post will be helpful to someone!
💲BUDGET💲
-- I booked the trip a year out so I could break it up into 12 manageable payments. I opened the no fee Disney VISA, which gives you several months of no interest on charges made towards Disney travel packages, rewards dollars to use at Disney, and a couple other perks like character meet and greets and discounts.
-- I signed up for Disney Movie Insiders. This is what you're supposed to do with all those little codes that come in Disney DVDs/Blurays. You enter the codes in exchange for points, and at 1000 points, you can redeem for a $10 Disney gift card. You also get points for being subscribed to Disney+, seeing Disney movies in the theater, their social media accounts, and a whole bunch of other things. I got $50 in gift cards from this alone.
-- If you want Disney-themed luggage, try thinking outside the box to save money! I got plain luggage in Mickey colors--red and black--and Mickey luggage tags to make them Disney themed.
-- I tried to budget for souvenirs via gift cards... but I failed, lol. Everything is so expensive, $100 is gone in a second. Plushes are like $40, coffee cups are $20, etc. Whatever you're planning to spend, double it! I get what people say about most shops having the same stuff, but it's definitely not all of them, most of the ones post-ride have unique stuff. And honestly it's kind of nice most of them have the same stuff, if you want to get whatever your kid was asking for earlier, you don't have to walk all the way back to the one shop you saw it at.
-- We paid for Memory Maker and I'm on the fence about it. On the one hand, it's really nice to get all the ride photos and meet and greet photos and magic shots. It's also really nice for the whole family to be in a lot of pictures and not have to swap with the other adult or find someone willing to take your picture. On the other, we definitely didn't utilize it as much as I wanted to because a lot of the photographers had pretty long lines and I just didn't want to spend time waiting for a picture I could take myself. If we came across someone with a shortish or no line, we made sure to get it, but for anyone with a long line, we just stood around the same spot and took our own.
🗓️PLANNING🗓️
-- If you have kids and live within easy driving distance of another amusement park, highly recommend making a visit BEFORE going to Disney to get an idea of how they handle that kind of day/environment, especially if they have never been. I quickly discovered we would absolutely need a stroller and I would need to be militant with the kids about staying hydrated. Also to avoid face paint, as heat + tears + paint + eyes = bad day! I felt so much better making these discoveries beforehand and being able to prepare accordingly, rather than making them at Disney.
-- USE AN AGENT! An agent is free to you, so why not have the help? Ours was amazing, she gave us quotes, booked the package, rebooked as needed later when a better deal came out, made all the payments, dining and extra reservations, and was just all-around awesome to work with. It was such a load off to know I wasn't on my own with all this stuff.
-- Watch everything Ear Scouts. No one explains Genie+ better, and Rob and Erick's videos are just so positive and beautiful and well done.
-- I also enjoyed reading Disney Tourist Blog--lovingly snarky but super informative!--and Disney Food Blog for fun tips and news.
-- I didn't find any park to be a half day park, we filled our whole day in every one and still didn't see everything!
-- My kids did really well, whenever they were on the verge of cranky, we had one ride in the stroller for a while, bought a snack (usually ice cream or popcorn), and used the bubble wand, and/or gave them some ibuprofen, and everyone felt better pretty quick. We never tried to do fireworks, we were all done by 8 so always left after dinner. The only park we closed down was EPCOT because we didn't get out of dinner until after close, and that was a really cool experience, the park was so quiet and empty and beautiful!
-- You don't NEED a Magic Band... but man, was it convenient. We just had 1.0 Magic Bands though, we didn't bother with the 2.0s.
-- I guess moving through security fast is important to people rope dropping... but as someone who didn't, it added like maybe 30 seconds to a minute to the experience the couple times my bag got flagged, it's really not a big deal.
-- I'm not saying anyone's lying about bad experiences or exaggerating or anything, but try to remember that far more people go on the Internet to complain than they do to praise. I got so stressed about all the things that could go wrong, and we had a pretty much perfect trip. The only attraction that broke down on us was Muppetvision, of all things. The only "bad behavior" we witnessed was the morning we were leaving, we could hear a dad across the hall yelling at his family, I think they overslept and were going to miss their flight or something? We just turned the TV on so we didn't have to hear him. A couple times we forgot to take our stuff with us when we parked our stroller or forgot some food in it, and neither people nor animals bothered it. The only dicey thing that happened to us was me dropping my phone into the Dumbo moat, the cast members fished it out and it still worked, I sent them a cast compliment for all their help! All the cast members were great, I'm not really sure what people expect but IMO they all do amazing for having to be peppy and helpful all day in absolutely blazing heat, walking a ride conveyer belt nonstop, repeating the same spiels over and over, meeting person after person, etc. I wouldn't last a 2 hour shift let alone 8. Cast members, you rock!!!
✈️TRAVEL✈️
-- We flew Delta, flight there was flawless, flight home was delayed by an hour waiting for crew and was a little bumpy (which is not great for a nervous flyer like me) but otherwise fine.
-- Get TSA PreCheck! Good for a few years, if the adults have it the kids have it too. It made the whole experience so much easier. That said, even PreCheck still moves kind of slow at MCO, so definitely get there at least 2 hours early for your flight. Use curbside check-in for bags, way faster than the long line inside!
-- On our agent's recommendation, we used Away We Go for ground transport in Orlando. They communicate really well, both ways were flawless, no complaints!
-- We used Minnie Vans to get to Animal Kingdom + Sanaa and Magic Kingdom, what a wonderful service! Definitely pricey, but they had cartoons on in the car, booster seats they set up for you, and the drivers were so nice and friendly and had fun trivia to share. I never had any problem requesting one when I needed it.
⛱️BEACH CLUB⛱️
-- We knew we wanted an onsite hotel where you could walk to at least one park. This pretty much limits you to a handful of Deluxe hotels or the Swan and Dolphin. Beach Club won for us because it's "in the Disney bubble" and you can walk to 2/4 parks. Note that while you can technically walk to Hollywood Studios, it is a LOOOONG walk. The boat is a nice not crowded alternative! We did not make use of Early Entry or Extended Hours, we're just not built for either. Beach Club was lovely, we booked a resort view but I think we ended up with a water view, we were right by the quiet pool and could see the water beyond from our room. Stormalong Bay was a little crazy for us but we loved the quiet pool. Best thing about Beach Club though is the location, EPCOT is literally steps away!
🌳ANIMAL KINGDOM🌳
-- We had read that there's really no bad day to do AK, so we started there. We rode: Navi River Journey, Flight of Passage, Kali River Rapids, Everest, Kilimanjaro Safaris, Triceratops Spin, and Dinosaur--so pretty much everything! With Genie+ we walked onto all of them. We also met Moana, Pocahontas, and Russell! The only thing we didn't do here that we wanted to was the Gorilla Falls trail, but we just ran out of time before the park closed.
🌐EPCOT🌐
-- We had read to avoid EPCOT on Fridays and Saturdays, so we went on Wednesday. We rode: Grand Fiesta Tour, Living with the Land, Nemo, Spaceship Earth, Imagination with Figment, Frozen, Remy, Journey of Water, and Guardians--everything we wanted! Again, with Genie+, we walked right onto everything! Outside of our character meal (more on that in the dining section!), we also met Anna, Elsa, and Asha! Tried a couple of Flower and Garden snacks: chicken and waffles, fruit and cheese strudel, and potato pancakes, all were delicious! Everyone had a different favorite day, but EPCOT was personally my favorite day, it felt like we were firing on all cylinders and the day just went really smoothly!
🏰MAGIC KINGDOM🏰
-- We had read that Wednesdays were the quietest days at MK, so we were originally going to try to do it that day, but we could only get a reservation for Cinderella's Royal Table on Thursday, so we switched it up. Definitely the most crowded of all the parks we visited, but I think that's just the norm for MK, everyone wants to go to the castle park with the most rides. We rode: Regal Carousel, Tomorrowland Speedway, Barnstormer, Magic Carpets, Mad Tea Party, People Mover, Dumbo, Small World, Little Mermaid, Pirates, Space Ranger Spin, Jungle Cruise, TRON, and Peter Pan. Again, with Genie+, we walked right onto everything! The only ride we missed at this park that we wanted to do was Pooh, I couldn't manage to get a return time that was earlier than we planned on leaving. Outside of our character meals (more on those in the dining section!) we also met Mirabel, Tiana, and Rapunzel! We had both the Rapunzel and Aurora ice creams, both so good and cute!
🎬HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS🎬
-- We had read that, like MK, it's better to do HS later in the week, so we went Friday. We rode: Slinky, Alien Saucers, Toy Story Mania, Rise, Smuggler's Run, Runaway Railway. Again, with Genie+, we walked right onto everything! The only ride we missed was Tower of Terror, again I couldn't manage to get a return time that was earlier than we planned on leaving. We also met Olaf, be aware Olaf doesn't sign stuff, they just give you a signature card. This park needs more shade IMO, especially Toy Story Land, I know it's supposed to be Andy's backyard, but I don't see why that means we can't have some shade from trees or something. 🤪 Blue milk from Galaxy's Edge was really good, the family was all fighting over it!
🍽️DINING🍽️
-- We almost certainly lost some money on the DDP, but I'm still glad we got it because it allowed us to do more table service meals and have less stress overall about expenses. We easily used up everything but child quick service credits, we had a few of those left over near the end.
Here's where we ate!
BOARDWALK DELI/PIZZA WINDOW: Pizza for the kids, sandwiches for the adults. Tasty and satisfying after our day of travel!
BEACHES AND CREAM: Got the kitchen sink for the experience, but honestly it's not great, all the ice cream and toppings melt together quick and you just end up with weird ice cream soup.
SAT'ULI CANTEEN: LOVED this place, everything was so yummy! Best quick service we had!
SANAA: Since Animal Kingdom closes so early, we thought we'd try to extend the experience by eating at Sanaa. What a great idea, we got seated right by a window and saw so many animals! The food was great too.
AKERSHUS: Our favorite princess meal! We met Aurora, Tiana, Snow White, Ariel, and Belle. They were all lovely, and the breakfast was really good too. Only 1 credit on the DDP!
GARDEN GRILL: Our kids really enjoyed getting to look down over Living with the Land and the fact that the restaurant spins. We met Farmer Mickey, Pluto, and Chip and Dale. They were fun and even came to our table more than once. Food was good!
SPACE 220: Not on the DDP, but wow, what a cool restaurant! Almost like a ride with the theming and the elevator up. Food was really good.
CINDERELLA'S ROYAL TABLE: You gotta eat in the castle! We paid for it OOP because we didn't want to use up 2 DDP credits here. You're really going for the location and the princesses, the food is kinda meh, not bad but not as good as other places. The restaurant is small and they have to turn tables quick, so it's very understandable to me that the princesses have to move fast. It's not that they rush you, they'll take all the pictures you ask for and sign whatever and answer your questions, but if you don't have much you need, they try to keep moving. Akershus is much bigger so they are able to be more relaxed there. The only small bummer is that we didn't see Merida (maybe she was on vacation too!) We did meet Cinderella, Ariel, Jasmine, and Aurora though!
CRYSTAL PALACE: We are not big on buffets but we enjoyed meeting Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore and Tigger!
TOPOLINO'S: Maybe the best food of the trip, steak and eggs were so good! The character artist costumes are so cute too. It was fun to have an excuse to ride the Skyliner to get here from Beach Club too.
DOCKING BAY 7: The theming is great, but the food wasn't as good as Satuli Canteen IMO.
THE MARKET AT ALE & COMPASS: We had quick service credits we wanted to use up on the last day and we didn't want to leave the resort again, otherwise I would have gone somewhere else, food was meh.
✨EXTRAS✨
-- I originally wanted to book Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique for my kids, but it's so expensive/competitive that I decided I didn't want the stress. Instead I booked Have Wand, Will Travel to come to our room and bought dresses from Presley Couture and Only Little Once. I chose Have Wand, Will Travel because they keep character throughout. Fairy Godmother Elyse was amazing and so much fun, my kids loved it and kept talking about it all day!
-- That same morning I ordered a Sammicakes breakfast box with beignets for us to eat. I also ordered a pretend letter from The DCP and Me on Etsy to make it seem like the breakfast came from Tiana. My kids also loved this and had fun telling Tiana about it both times we met her. Sammicakes was good but a LOT of food, sadly we didn't end up eating half of it. It can last you at least 3 days!
-- We had Birthdays and More decorate our door, it was a really fun surprise for the kids on our first day and made our room easy to find. The kids also loved reusing the decorations at home on their own doors!
-- Matching shirts and ear hats, all from Etsy! So many cool designs there, hardest part is choosing!
-- Got my kids a pin trading lanyard with some pins, they loooooved pin trading! It was like free souvenirs.
🧳PACKING🧳
-- Things the Internet Told Me to Pack That I Needed: Scissors, ziploc bags, ibuprofen (kids and adults), garbage bags, big carabiners to hook on the strolleuse to carry multiple bags at once.
-- Things the Internet Told Me to Pack that I Didn't Need: stainless steel straws (the paper straws are more like hard cardboard, they really don't break down unless your kid is gnawing on them or something), ponchos (it did rain some most days, but wearing a poncho was almost more miserable than not wearing one, it's so hot and humid to be walking around in a plastic bag! We did better taking shelter and using umbrellas.), wipes (obv you need them if your kid is younger, but mine were older and just never got messy enough to need them), glow sticks (we never stayed anywhere long enough to use them), bottled wateLiquid IV (the tap water tasted the same as home to us, but we live in a rural area so maybe we are just used to imperfect water?) Basically, the less you can get away carrying in the parks, the better. It's annoying to lug stuff around you don't end up needing or using!
🛞STROLLER🛞
-- I know it seems insane that your 5 year old and 9 year old will need a stroller, but mine definitely did. Once I accepted that I was going to have to get one, I tried to make the best of it, and actually got really into decorating it so we could always easily spot it in the sea (the decorations also later made nice wall decor for a gallery of our trip!) The Magic Spotter flag was the best investment, hardly anyone had them so it was easy to instantly spot our stroller anywhere we left it, even if it got moved. That said, I definitely didn't want to spend a lot on a stroller we were really only buying for this one trip, so I got a used Joovy Caboose on Facebook Marketplace for $50. It was very hard to handle with two older kids in it, and even with one it was hard to handle unless the kid was in the back seat. So we basically used it like a single stroller, glad I didn't spend a lot on it since it was so hard to drive!
☔WEATHER☔
-- We had mostly great weather, it rained some every day except Magic Kingdom day but it passed within an hour each time. We wore socks with Crocs so that if/when it rained, we could just take our wet socks off and walk in our Crocs, this worked great! Don't trust the weather reports though, two days it wasn't supposed to rain. One day it actually didn't, the other day it did and we had to walk in wet shoes because we didn't wear the Crocs that day. Just figure it might rain any day and be prepared! See above note RE: ponchos being not great and shelter + umbrellas being better. When it didn't rain, It. Was. Hot. 🥵 In the 90s but definitely felt hotter with the humidity making it so sticky. We felt there was plenty of shade at Animal Kingdom and EPCOT, but hardly any at Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios, which I would say slightly affected how much fun we had on those days comparatively.
Phew! That's about it, let me know if you have any questions!

To use this deck, copy it to your clipboard and create a new deck in Hearthstone

The deck is built around weapon. Don't rush while building up the weapon but don't hold back either because in case your first weapon get destroyed you can get second weapon from the E.T.C. and buff it with sonya weapon doesn't have to be max even 6 damage weapon is extremely usefull.
E.T.C have one open slot I put Tony in case of boomboss and infinite plague but I didn't use it yet you can change it with something you want.
Normally this deck had Wishing well for sonya so we can chance to get a highlander legendary from another class but the thing is hard to pull and inefficient so I changed it with some other things.
Deck still requires some adjustments there are cards you can change. But don't forget you have to give weapon durability.
Cards you can change
1-Dubious Purchase- A bit expensive
2-Twisted Pack- Getting benefit from this card requires high amount of mana
3-Break Dance- it is good to have an extra cheap bounce but it is not essential
  1. Maruut Stonebinder- it is not essential either but it puts some stats on board also gives extra couple of elementals.
Tar Slick is really important it can double the amount of heal you get with weapon also you might need it to remove board.
The deck might be a bit hard to operate but I play it like months and it is not that bad of a deck. it can defeat any deck out there and you can create some crazy gameplay with rolls and surprise your opponents.

2024.05.18 01:49 RealZackkFairr What even are players?

I have DM'd a fair number of one shots but I am currently dming my first ever campaign for a group of newer players.
I am coaching them somewhat while they are playing, the DC of rolls I am setting are quite low and I am actively giving them hints out of character while they are learning but somehow they are still managing to derail the path set by the campaign. 😂
Session 2 (after the fighter with his chainmail and shield hid behind the level 1 wizard who then was treated as target practice) the resident Goliath ranger murdered a dude in cold blood during a bar fight that THEY instagated after goading the barkeeper by accusing a local hero of being a child killer (random head cannon a player decided on when I asked them for a prompt of how they knew the person who got them together, not lore but they are sticking with the story) they got arrested and sent to prison.. only to break out, murder a handful of guards to escape EVEN after they actively heard the person who hired them attempting to bribe them out of jail at the cost of a few hours wait?! (and the cost of some reward gold). They managed to get back to the guy who hired them who, managed to smuggle them out of the town so they could continue the story...
They are pure chaos, able to provide reasons for their characters behaviour in character and without upsetting each other.. it has been an incredible ride and that's only the start of it.
To other dm's, what is the worst players have derailed the story and why and how much do you enjoy the challenge of going with the flow?
Have any other dm's ever had to homebrew random giant ice dwelling yaks because you stupidly mentioned them when they were investigating wildlife and you had nothing planned... Only for them to get fixated on that for the next 3 and a half hours? 😂
This group makes me so happy and I'm really enjoying their shenanigans! I just really want to know if my style of dming is out of the ordinary and causing myself endless but hillarity induced headaches or if others have experienced similar things? 😂

2024.05.18 01:13 Kaix007 Games with slow paced combat/action

I'm looking for games where the action or combat is more slow pace for lack of a better word(without lack, maybe every action you take has some strategic reasoning behind it or you can feel the weight behind each attack). Has to be real time or real time with pause/time slow. Games that I liked are that have one or more aspects of what I'm looking for:
War Robots(mobile game. Only liked it during its early golden days and not the current clstrfck of weird over the top weapons and mechs)
Battleheart and Battleheart Legacy(also mobile games but two of my fav games)
Stick Ranger(another mobile game but I prob have hundreds of hours in this weird looking game)
Assasins Creed Odyssey(only when I'm raiding a fort or objective with stealth, taking out enemies one by one and seeing the enemy numbers slowly drop is satisfying)
Skyrim(its a classic. Also the Riften gate guard that asks you for the entrance fee is a dick)
Kenshi(one of my all time favs. I also love looking at the squirmishes from afar)
Starcraft/SC2(similar to Kenshi, I loved seeing the models fight. Didn't play much of it tho)
For Honor(played the campaign for a few hours and I loved the combat)
BeamNG(kind of an outsider but I like how it forces me to drive carefully but as fast as I can whilst trying not to damage the vehicle)
Sniper Elite 4(the x ray stuff was so cool to watch)
Mad Max(the combat is so satisfying and makes you feel like a god)
Batman Arkham Knight(the combat is so satisfying and makes you feel like batman)
War Thunder(played a few hours but I really like how you don't have one health bar but health bar for different parts of your vehicle. Ambushing and using terrain as strategic cover and hiding spots is cool)
Red Dead Redemption 2(yeehaw)
Games that I haven't tried but think is cool:
FromSoftware games(elden ring, armored core 6. Not too big of a fan for really hard games tho like dark souls)
Hitman
Total war games
Mechabellum
Aliens: Dark Decent
Dragon Age: Inquisition

2024.05.17 22:44 Conscious-Big-25 Which scholar class

I want to make a scholar character but I'm struggling to pick which one (I know I could technically try them all out but that's a lot of time investment)
I've read tons of posts for all of them but reading about them and figuring out which would fit what I like kinda is a struggle for me.
I like the necromancer's survivability, but none of its skills really appeal to me except the minions because having things to draw agro from me in solo is nice. Its skills also didn't really look to have anything that directly applied boons which I like being able to do in group content.
Elementalist, just looking at the attunement page made my head hurt. I'm kinda a slow person so complicated switching around just seems like it would overwhelm an already easily overwhelmed person. But I like the aesthetics of elemental magic. Probably the least likely I'd pick though I just included it to be thorough
Mesmer, I'm worried about survivability and that it also seems pretty complicated. It seems fun just not sure I would have fun or just be confused and die when I inevitability use the wrong skill (I'm terrible at hitting the right key so I typically use mouse but that's really slow so I'm trying to get better with hotkeys but I then hit the wrong key a lot)
Or maybe I should just stick with my ranger, I'm just finding it to be a little TOO simple and mindless also doesn't have the oomph that a straight up magic class has at least mesmer and elementalist not sure about necro

2024.05.17 22:27 UniqueName2 2020 COVID episodes

I’m going through the backlog and I’m at the point where COVID is hitting the news. The shift from what Alex was saying then to what was being said a few years later is incomprehensible. In the beginning this fucking nitwit had the Health Ranger on saying “there will only be lone survivors!” And he agreed with him. He claiming there will be a 22% death rate. Trump needs to step in and do complete lockdowns of cities to stop the spread. That Obama bought the virus from North Carolina University and sold it to the Chinese. Ol’ Stevie P saying that he was patient zero and cured himself with antibiotics. Every single one of these dipshits was praising Fauci as the world’s only expert on the situation and that Trump should listen to him more. It’s a fucking hodgepodge of mixed feelings from all the regular hoopleheads saying all kinds of disparate things and he agrees with every single one of them. I am not surprised that this is the case, but I just think it’s hilarious that he was screaming that it was the end of the world and a year or so later it’s not even real and anyone calling for quarantine should be summarily executed for treason. Fuck. This is a rollercoaster. Also, you should buy colloidal silver and stick it up your ass!
