So, our visit to the vet didn't go very well at all. :(
A huge part of this was that I hadn't realized that Toccio was terrified of the streetcars that pass down the main street where the clinic is located. I live on a short, one way street that ends when it meets this main street, so you can hear the street cars passing. it's not very loud, and Toccio doesn't take any notice. We've also crossed the main street 4 or 5 times to get to less chaotic streets for our walks. While we wait to cross, the streetcars go by, and I hadn't noticed him reacting to them. But after a minute of actually walking down this street, his tail was right down, and I knew he was frightened. and my heart broke. (it's okay! i found a solution for next time)
It was only another minute or two before we arrived at the vet's. It's only a block away. And the waiting room was empty, so I was able to take him right in, and he was so glad to get away from the street. I immediately got him sitting on my lap and he was shaking. I felt awful! It's so awful to see your dog suffer! I pulled him close, and wrapped my arms around him .
The woman who was working in reception immediately led us into an exam room, with a quick stop on the scales on our way. (He's just shy of 10 LBs). She was soft-spoken, in her 20s, and gentle, and he showed no specific anxiety towards her.
When we got to the exam room and were alone, I kept Toccio on the lead so he could check it out. I sat on a chair and got him in my lap, but he was still anxious enough that he couldn't take a treat. So, I got down on the floor, and sat cross-legged. He LOVES it when I do this. He is the perfect size to just curl up in my lap. It's what he most wants when he's distressed.
We stayed like that as we waited, and he began to relax, although he still wasn't taking treats, and I'd brought cheese!!! :(
This is Toccio's treat hierarchy, in ascending order:
I had asked both the nurse and the receptionist to please not knock when they entered the room. But either one or both of them continued to do so. I don't remember if they both did. I just remember that people kept knocking, softly, but still!
And then the doctor knocked (sigh), and came in. I don't know what it was about her, but she put both me and Toccio off from the get go. She had a high -pitched voice, and I've noticed that Toccio doesn't like high pitched noises- he's unsettled by the beep of the microwave, my coffee maker, and, oh ya, the beep of the door at the vets that would go off jusssst when he was getting a bit settled.
For me, I heard a strain in her voice. It was tight.
And although she saw me sitting on the floor with him, she approached him while she was standing, with her bright, chirpy tone.
Toccio lunged and snapped.
I thought, "well of course!" And just tried to stay calm for him., and accepting and loving towards him.
She suggested we put a muzzle on, and asked me to do it. I said ok. And he let me put it on, but he still lunged whenever the doc came near him.
So, she said, ok. we have two options. we could put him in a ... (I'm not sure exactly what she said, but it sounded like straight-jacket) and a cone so we could do a physical exam today, or we could reschedule, and give him some medication for you to administer before the next visit.
I said, "drugs, please!!!"
I would have been hesitant about that option had I not read the experiences you have shared about medication for your dogs.
She left for about 5 minutes, and during that time, my dear, sweet boy started to relax. He got off my lap and snuffled around again. He was very happy to eat the cheese I had brought, along with the 2nd tier dog treats I had also brought. He even ate the grey, thin treats the nurse had brought. They smelled like vegetables. Toccio has very little interest in vegetables.
The doc came back in and Toccio tensed right back up and gave her a stern barking. But settled again in my lap. She gave me Trazodone and Gabapentin, to be administered before the next visit. When I said I was familiar with these drugs being used for dogs cause of this group, she said, "Oh? You've done some research!" I don't know why people keep being surprised about that.
(I'm also on Trazodone myself, and it's my wonder drug!)
Before she left, she said, next time, bring some treats that he really likes. !!!
I was so tempted to say, well, I did, and he was happily munching away on them until YOU came back into the room. I just said that I did, and that next time I would bring chicken. (although honestly, when Toccio is in such an anxious state, I wonder if he would even be able to eat chicken.)
I then asked if there was a back entrance that we could use to leave, in part so that we would avoid dogs in the waiting room, but my main object was to help him get outta there without then being confronted with the terror of the streetcar. She said she'd need to check.
It was a-ok, and Toccio was so happy to be leaving. His tail was right up, and all of the people in the back office rooms said, "awwww!" as he raced by them. Once out back, we both just took a moment to chill and get our bearings. I realized that we were in part of the series of connecting alleys that run through a fair length of my neighbourhood, half a block north of the main street. These alleys take us all the way to the intersection we cross to walk the 200 ft to our home. I nearly wept in relief.
This isn't a vent, just a learning experience. But I am surprised and disappointed by how 2 of the 3 staff didn't seem to understand what would be triggering for a smallish, reactive dog, didn't heed my advice, and had clearly never considered the back entrance as a useful alternative entrance for reactive dogs. especially cause a lot of people in my neighbourhood don't drive- by choice- so don't have the car refuge.
I'm, of course, pissed off about the, "you should bring treats" comment. But that struck me as run of the mill doctor arrogance. I thought about requesting another doctor from this clinic, but I don't know if that could blow back on me. The clinic is highly rated by people in my neighbourhood. (I did my homework! ;) ) But I might post a general inquiry about the clinic in one of the neighbourhood community facebook groups.
But I also want to share with you that Toccio has learned the "leave it" command, and he chose to not react to 80% of the triggers on our walks today!!! This includes: dogs up ahead and on the other side of the street, passing women on our side of the street, AND passing tall men (a particular) trigger on our side of the street!!!
I'll go into more detail about this in a separate post, cause I find I'm using "leave it" for all sorts of situations.

- I also know that for our do-over visit: my lovely sweet pup won't arrive terrorized by streetcars, or triggered by dogs in the waiting room. cause we'll go there through the alley, and enter through the back door. I'll insist on this.
- I'll bring chicken. I'm keeping a bag of small sized bits of chicken in the freezer, so I will always have some on hand.
- and we'll be on drugs!!! lol. I'm really interested to see the effect on Toccio.

I (18 F) have been with my mother (46 F) since the beginning it’s always been me and her, my biological father wasn’t ready to be a dad and went on his merry way, that and the fact my mum didn’t want an addict around me while I grew up.
I didn’t know the term abusive till I went to high school where I realised quickly the behaviour my mother was exhibiting was not normal. As she was and still is. The most angriest person I’ve ever met.
Repressed memories of her being physical and throwing things to her verbally and emotional torment since I was 4. Over the course of my teenage years I have tried my hardest to have a relationship with her but to no avail. I am told that I am the one being difficult and selfish, that I am entitled and spoilt.
I wanted to outline a couple things before I continue with the main story I wanted to talk on here about.
Me and my mother lost our Gran (her mother) a while back and it completely broke both of us. I was taken to child therapy as my Gran was the person at the time I was the most closest too. My mother on the other hand did not seek out any help for her grieving and instead started harbouring this anger that she has since taken out on me.
Next. I can’t speak too much on this as I don’t know what I can and cannot say but my mother was in an abusive relationship with a narcissist that had assaulted her one night while I was in the same house. I had to wittiness the back end of my mother hurt and I had thought that something like this would have brought us closer, when it didn’t. My mother went back to treating me the way she has always done.
Now, I want to talk about something thats just happened and get advice.
I came out as Bisexual last year and my mother has been completely okay with it, having introduced her to my girlfriend (19 F) and they have gotten along okay. I was apprehensive of them meeting as I was afraid of what was to happen when my mother got comfortable around her.
My fears were answered recently. I pay Board to stay at my house as it’s a minimum wage income working class family and my mother has expressed that she needs board from me in order for us to be supported. Me and my girlfriend switch between her and my own house as we are a quick 5minute bus ride away from each other.
My mother has always misinterpreted my tone of voice and sometimes I can admit that the tone I output is not the one intended and i apologise for that. But every now and then she will nit pick about the way I supposedly speak to her and decide to do her usual blowing up.
Me and my girlfriend were sat in my room (my mother having worked a late at her job and coming in just after 8pm) she had asked me my plans for tomorrow and asked if I was going out. I replied “can I get back to you on that” as I wasn’t sure what I was going to do and wanted to talk it over with my girlfriend.
Suddenly outraged she walks away. 2 minutes later comes back and slams my door after having said “do what you want” I live in a flat and was able to hear her stomping about as if having a toddlers temper tantrum. She then shouted through telling me to do the dishes. Proceed to shut the kitchen door behind me and begin her rants.
Telling me how I was horrible for speaking to her like that and that I only do it when my girlfriend is around. That what I said was rude. I proceeded to tell her that what I said I would have said to anyone and that I wasn’t meaning to be rude to her and that I was sorry if I was.
My mother then having decided to move on to another argument. Brought up that she wasn’t going to be running around for me anymore (but it’s okay if I run around for her when she wants something because god forbid I say no…) then talks about Christmas and that my girlfriend hadn’t said thank you for the things she got her. Which was a lie as I remember her saying thank you and asking me to message my mum as they had no communication at the time to tell her thank you. She then decided to tell me that she was done dealing with me and my apparent attitude.
I found her behaviour in-front of my girlfriend disgusting as she made her uncomfortable, trying to pin point my girlfriend’s uncomfortableness onto me. After speaking with my girlfriend I wanted to reach out here and get any advice I’ve been trying to get a diagnoses at the doctors for social anxiety and depression and possible BPD. I have so many other stories and incidents where my mother has been worse than this but I wanted to share this specific one and get help with my current situation aside from the one’s in my past.

This will be a long one, so buckle up.
My and my boyfriend are long distance, and have been together for a bit over 2 years. We’ve met in person one time last summer and things haven’t been the same since.
I’ve been having these feelings on and off for well over a year now, but I try to suppress it for my own well being, as I tend to spiral easily and do things I regret. He always seems to enjoy spending time with his friends way more than me. We can only communicate online, through texting and voice chatting, but that’s how he spends time with his friends too.
During the summer when we were together for one month, he visited my house and as the days were going by, unless we were going out shopping or something, he would spend almost all the time he was awake with his friends on VC and leave me for the night time when I’m already tired and ready for bed (he’s more of a night owl.) He explained that he wasn’t really treating the trip as a vacation, but as just living with me and doing what he’d normally do for a month, which made me feel even worse and idk felt like a bit of a stab in the heart for me.
I’ve never been able to confront him with the truth of how I felt about the vacation because he speaks of it so positively, I don’t want to break his heart. But I genuinely didn’t enjoy myself at all while he was here. I felt pushed to the side the majority of the time and just wasn’t comfortable sharing the space with him either.
Fast forward to now, I felt pretty secure in our relationship and the amount of time we were spending together up until recently. It seems like every single day as soon as he wakes up he’s in a call with one of his friends and they call the entire day. I don’t even feel like bothering asking if we can spend time together because he’s constantly doing it with others. He encourages me to join in all the time, but to be honest I don’t really like his friends, plus I really just want some one on one time.
There is an 8 hour time difference between us, however his sleeping schedule is basically backwards and follows mine pretty much, so we are awake around the same time regardless. He’s not busy with work right now or university, so he has time for me. His explanation is that his friends are awake more at the time he’s awake, and I have school during the day so I can’t call then. But what about when I come home from school and have the entire evening to talk? Why do you never offer to talk to me then? Sometimes when he does offer, I’m not in the mood to, but after that he just seems to forget I exist.
Not to mention the fact that he can spend the entire day with his friends but we only ever VC for a few hours at a time, even when we start it at the same times as he would with his friends.
I’ve tried to have this discussion with him before, and it changes things for a little bit but it always ends up going back to how it is now and I’m just tired of it. I guess I’m asking how I can confront him about it and calmly state how I feel instead of being as emotional as I am right now about it. I feel like he never wants to spend as much time with me as he does his friends, and when he does spend time with me, he doesn’t enjoy it as much as when he’s spending that time with his friends.
How can I confront him about how I’m feeling and what should I do if the response isn’t good enough for me, or it’s the same as it always is. Please, I really want to fix this issue.

This story is a doozy so let me fill yall in. I feel like my life is falling apart and I need to vent and get support- also Im on a burner account. I (24, transexual woman) (Im fully transitioned and have been for over 5 years, I feel like I dont have to explain that to yall) Im also in a local band and Ive been a pretty well known and popular figure in my hometown and some surrounding cities.
About a couple months ago I noticed some of my coworkers who are in my age bracket treating me coldly and strangely. Its unusual for them. About 2 weeks ago the booking guy at that venue that was refusing to book us told my bands drummer that I raped his friend. This has been a huge shock to all of us, and at first I honestly believed I somehow hurt someone and didn’t realize it. I wanted to figure out who it was so I could know what I did wrong.
After careful deliberation and connecting the dots, and a deep personal evaluation I am certain that I didnt do anything wrong. I thought about my sexual history. Ive been engaged to my fiancé for about half the year now. I also dont know how I could rape someone- given what I told you all earier in this post.
Im still trying to connect all the dots but I realized by talking to some people who still trust and love me that the person spreading the rumours is a guy who groped me at a concert and sexually harassed me in the past. He use to try to flirt with me constantly to the point of making mutual friends uncomfortable. But when pressed about it he would go “oh i could never like you like that” and tried to paint me as a fool. He also expected me to do booking for his band since im good at networking and I know a lot of people. I refused because i couldnt handle more work especially for someone who was making me so uncomfortable.
Im friends with his bands old drummer who told me that he bragged about spying on girls changing and that he talks to instagram models. Dude is a total incel loser- lets refer to him as Blake for these rest of the story.
Anyway, we find out through mutual friends that Blakes friend who we will call Sabrina is the one claiming i sexually assaulted her. Sabrina and I had a short fling and a hookup about two years ago. She topped me, it was all very consensual. I have texts of her telling me she had a good time and her thanking me for making her feel comfortable. Its worth noting that sabrina comes from a religious family thats better off than mine. She seems to have complicated feelings about her sexuality.
Her story keeps changing, ive heard 5 different contradicting versions of the story. In one version of the story, she claims I showed up to her house unanounced and forced myself on her. I dont know where she lives, I never have known where she lives. The one time we hooked up was at my house. None of this makes sense.
My band decided to reach out to her to ask what happened, they have a phone call and in it she admits that she only regretted having sex with me after talking to Blake. We know from Blakes shit talking that he blames me for his band breaking up, and is resentful that I called him out for being a creep.
Im worried about the future of my band, Im worried about my job because my coworkers are treating me like shit. My mental health has been in rapid decline. Usually Im a very happy person. I loved my job, I have my own house and a new car and I love my fiance. Its becoming increasingly clear how calculated the smear campaign against me is. I heard that Blake is telling people Im a racist, and that Im a fake, and that Im obsessed with him because he rejected me…which is the opposite of what happened between us in the past. Hes also telling people that I tasered a girl in the crotch??? which is the most horrifying craziest shit I have ever heard. I feel like im losing my life.

Lately I've been trying to moderate and it's been so so.
For the past week I have been drinking every other day and noticed a huge difference the next day whether I drank or not. After a day of alcohol consumption I have been feeling so tired and just waiting to go to bed. Lacking energy and doing my work with effort of will. Waking up after a nights sleep, but still being very tired in the morning and staying in bed as long as possible.
While on the morning after an alcohol-free day, I wake up with energy, take on the day and tackle both planned and unplanned events and tasks.
Even though I know all this about these differences, the urge to drink is there in the evening. It's hard to understand and accept how the urge to drink can override common sense. I've had longer alcohol-free periods before, so I know I can handle abstinence, but it's hard when you're in the middle of a 'moderation' period. Anyway, long story short, an attempt at a new, longer alcohol-free period awaits. Since I started drinking, I have gained about 2,5 lbs in weight and even though I exercise and try to think about how I eat, the weight is currently not decreasing. I think I know that I will lose weight relatively quickly, as long as I stop drinking. Will need your support and it has worked before so it will do it this time too.

2024.05.01 08:10 Henechar Kled Might be in Love with the New adc items
Hey all I’ve put a good 5 hours into the new pbe patch and the first thing I have to say is wow did riot really make this a rough one for the current kled. The damage is through the roof right now with a bunch of adc item changes that in short make high single shot damage characters such as Caitlyn and Draven extremely broken one shotting squishy bruisers in precisely 3 autos. The games I have have played with multiple different builds finding great success in the early game with all of them getting myself extremely fed but then felt the harsh reality that is the new 4 item mid game adcs. Riot has boosted the crit change on adc items back to 25%. The ad on many of the adc items is also way up with the ad completely taken off other adc items, but boosting these other items in terms of attack speed. This is seemingly in the hope that adcs will need to go a mix of both, leading to their ad being relatively the same. Items such as bloodthirster have had their ad boosted up to 80 which is an insane number. What riot doesn’t seem to have considered will happen is that some adcs will just… not go the attack speed items and abuse the ad boosted ones. This has led to an INSANE damage boost to adcs who now as I said only need 4 items to reach 100% crit. My point in all of this is to say that… Kled (high commodore of the first legion, artillery vanguard company (I did that off the top of my head, don’t @ me)) is the perfect character and one of the only toplaners that can really benefit from what this new league environment. Kled loves high AD on items. It’s the reason lethality kled works so well. But these new adc items now also have extremely high ad whereas before kled avoided adc items because they had crit which he never got too much of but liked and also attack speed which because of kled’s W he really doesn’t want to waste gold on. And most importantly they had very low AD, usually only around 40-50 at most. Items such as the new essence reaver which I already saw Unique_AD5201 mentioned has been reverted and now has 65 AD and 25 ability haste, plus that juicy 25% crit. Bloodthirster, now with even more lifesteal and 80 AD!!! is also, in my opinion, one of the items kled might just want to steal. Although this item has actually lost its crit chance that might actually make it even more viable for kled. Especially with builds such as lethality or even in a bruiser build. Eclipse has been nerfed and doesn’t feel nearly as good. Bloodthirster is an item with more ad than eclipse, a passive overhead shield that is useful in both mega and mini kled forms, and lifesteal which kled uses very well that makes up for the lost survivability that eclipse gave if you don’t think that the overheal shield already did that. So for these reasons, I will just come out and say it, Kled might want to go crit. Before this patch crit was bad as Kled wanted early game stats. But crit is an early game stat now! And with high ad to boot crit becomes kled’s highest damage build. Kled already liked crit when it came with items such as old essence reaver or mortal reminder because Kled liked how much damage they have. When it comes to this patch riot has only added ad to these items and all other items are the same!! They haven’t buffed any bruiser counterparts to these items. They haven’t buffed the armor on any tank items. Assassin items remain completely the same and riot hasn’t expressed any interest with doing any thing else before this patch drops. To be frank, this is the only patch that this kind of build might be the most efficient way to play kled in a long time. Kled is known for getting his first 2-3 items incredibly quickly as his early game is top notch. With 25% crit this means that his crit chance becomes insane in no time. I had times at 50% crit where 4 out of 4 of my W’s crit. At 75% getting that final W to be a crit feels almost guaranteed. Like some rng god is constantly shining down on me. The build feels good and in my tests performs better than anything else. To keep it real with you all for a sec, I have a dream. A dream where in two weeks when this patch comes out that we will be ready. And when it strikes that we will strike harder. I want to see in the first DAY that crit Kled is top of the charts. That’s why I’m writing all of this, because this is a reality and you can either sit there and judge me for caring, or can join me and possibly welcome onto us a patch like no other. A patch where instead of Kled falling behind because of adcs being stronger than ever, it is a patch where Kled is standing tall above the crowd. It is only after you rise that you can fall. But all of those who didn’t rise, remain at the bottom. Okay I’m done being weird. In terms of build my favorite first four items are essence reaver, bloodthirster, collector, and IE. The order honestly depends on the game. In every game I played I either won before fourth item because the build was so dominant or won before I could get to my fifth, simply because when I got that 75% crit + bloodthirster or that INSANE 100% crit chance, the next fight was a slaughter, leading to the end of the game. I would love to talk to you guys more about the builds and the specific items as we are a community. I’m not claiming at all to have perfected the build, I am simply trying to bring more attention to the idea and defend it if people disagree with me, not with malice, but by using the data I have collected and my knowledge about the game. I don’t feel like it’s important to mention, as I believe rank really doesn’t matter, but I am a diamond Kled player and I’ve played him for the last 4-5 years. I love the character to death and would love to see people having fun and maybe even dominating with this maybe broken but certainly unique build idea. I also just think it was be the craziest thing ever to see crit Kled be suggested on u.gg or op.gg. That would just make my year.

Just wanted to pop in and thank you guys for sharing your perspectives, and validating or challenging my perspective after I vented about the current state of autistic representation.
After cooling down and taking a step back, I still stand by what I said, but I think a lot of it comes down to intolerance of uncertainty/lack of clarity and my own projections and fears.
For background: I quit social media 4 years ago because I was terrified upon realizing that I’d become obsessed with fitness and sucked into new age spirituality and left-leaning politics because of the pages I followed and the ads I was shown on Instagram. Before that, I’d always been apolitical and active but body-neutral, and seeing how easy it was for my identity and beliefs to shift so drastically based solely on the content I was consuming, rather than lived experience and my personal values really shook me.
So, on intolerance for uncertainty and lack of clarity: As far as I can see, psychiatric diagnostic criteria are often vague and subjective. People’s interpretations of the criteria are quite varied. And yet, people manage to seem so confident that their interpretations and personal examples of these criteria playing out in their lives are it, even if they’d never seen things that way before. But we’ve seen time and time again that people often don’t really understand the criteria (or even just terms like gaslighting or narcissist) and label people and behaviors that should not be labeled as such, and we’re only getting worse with this. Often, inaccurate and oversimplified alternative versions of these terms become almost universally accepted before we have a chance to correct them and get everyone on the same page. And so, they lose their original meaning and it becomes impossible to tell whether what we’re hearing or reading is exactly what we think or one of a plethora of accepted versions that sometimes have little to do with the original (if that makes sense?). All of this makes it so hard to say with certainty whether one is or isn’t autistic. If everything is open to interpretation and analysis by the layman, does it even mean anything in the end? How do we assure that the right people are getting the right information if belief is truth or subjective experience is being made out to be objective? (Yes, some people post disclaimers, but let’s face it, followeview count and repetition are the new stamp of legitimacy) TL;DR: It feels like we’re losing sight of what autism actually is and creating a host of issues for already-diagnosed *and actually autistic people who have yet to be diagnosed, while simultaneously opening the door for people to be misdiagnosed with autism. So, I always have this fear of “what if I’m unknowingly adopting beliefs of the most prominent late-diagnosed voices because my desire to belong is stronger than my grasp on reality?” Well, I’ve caught myself regurgitating that self-diagnosis is deemed valid by “the community” when I actually disagree (and who even is “the community?!). And I’ve adhered to rules like “the community” prefers identity-first language when I don’t really care. And I’ve slapped a socio-political lens onto how I see autism even though it’s not how I choose to see things in other aspects of life (and it irks me to be force-fed these perspectives everywhere I go). TL;DR: What was the point of this life-changing late diagnosis if I’m pretty much feeling compelled to “mask” w i t h i n the autistic community? How many others are being alienated by this? How many “members of the community” actually only identify with autism because of all the extra socio-political stuff? So many questions I feel I wouldn’t be plagued with if we could just focus on a u t i s m (like, that’s already SO much information to sift through and a variety of presentations to be explored!!).

After cooling down and taking a step back, I still stand by what I said, but I think a lot of it comes down to intolerance of uncertainty/lack of clarity and my own projections and fears.
For background: I quit social media 4 years ago because I was terrified upon realizing that I’d become obsessed with fitness and sucked into new age spirituality and left-leaning politics because of the pages I followed and the ads I was shown on Instagram. Before that, I’d always been apolitical and active but body-neutral, and seeing how easy it was for my identity and beliefs to shift so drastically based solely on the content I was consuming, rather than lived experience and my personal values really shook me.
So, on intolerance for uncertainty and lack of clarity: As far as I can see, psychiatric diagnostic criteria are often vague and subjective. People’s interpretations of the criteria are quite varied. And yet, people manage to seem so confident that their interpretations and personal examples of these criteria playing out in their lives are it, even if they’d never seen things that way before. But we’ve seen time and time again that people often don’t really understand the criteria (or even just terms like gaslighting or narcissist) and label people and behaviors that should not be labeled as such, and we’re only getting worse with this. Often, inaccurate and oversimplified alternative versions of these terms become almost universally accepted before we have a chance to correct them and get everyone on the same page. And so, they lose their original meaning and it becomes impossible to tell whether what we’re hearing or reading is exactly what we think or one of a plethora of accepted versions that sometimes have little to do with the original (if that makes sense?). All of this makes it so hard to say with certainty whether one is or isn’t autistic. If everything is open to interpretation and analysis by the layman, does it even mean anything in the end? How do we assure that the right people are getting the right information if belief is truth or subjective experience is being made out to be objective? (Yes, some people post disclaimers, but let’s face it, followeview count and repetition are the new stamp of legitimacy) TL;DR: It feels like we’re losing sight of what autism actually is and creating a host of issues for already-diagnosed *and actually autistic people who have yet to be diagnosed, while simultaneously opening the door for people to be misdiagnosed with autism. So I’ve been with my GF for around 2 years now, and up until recently everything between us was great. We had everything I could want out of a relationship, great communication, affection, spent time together. But in the last couple of months it seems like everything has changed, and not for the better. I’ll tell you why
My GF has not been putting ANY effort into our relationship anymore. She doesn’t talk to me anymore, and when she does it’s all short replies with no real effort to hold a conversation. She hasn’t seemed at all concerned with anything going on with me, never asking about my day or anything like that and is instead only wrapped up in herself. I’ve attempted to plan dates for us, ranging from short little outings to more planned out events, but she’s been cancelling about half of them, something she never did before.
Now there has been SOME attempts at explaining this sudden change in behavior. Ranging from depression to other responsibilities. Which I can understand, but I would think anyone would start to feel just the slightest bit neglected if their S/O didn’t even try to make time for them in a span of several months.
I know what you’re probably thinking “just talk to her” or something like that. But the thing is, I have been trying to talk to her, but she refuses to actually discuss these things with me. She’ll either just reiterate that she’s depressed or busy, or just say she’s sorry and promise to change, but it all just repeats the next day like she never promised anything.
It’s been almost 6 months now and I’m reaching the end of my rope. My patience is running incredibly thin and I’m about ready to just throw in the towel. I love her to death, but is it really fair to just accept this as it is? I feel like if she isn’t gonna make even a little effort anymore I should just walk away. But I do feel guilty thinking like this so here I am asking for the advice of strangers. Is this the right move or is there some alternative option that I’m not thinking of? Any and all advice would be very much appreciated.

The thing is, I'm getting more smelly then I used to before. It's not fuel (it was at first, but I got a new rubber seal for the carburator lid and the fuel smell is now gone), nor is it oil (I don't think so, at least). I really can't quite describe it (my skin and clothes get as if I spent a whole day sweating, even after a short ride... This is the closest I can get to a description). Hello therapy/wisdom section of Reddit. I calling upon you because I need multiple opinions/advice on if im making the right decision. First tho. Our story. I met this girl in high school when I was 15. Our relationship together was honestly the best one I’ve had since. We dated strong for 9 months but my best friend at the time convinced me to leave her for the summer because he was single. obviously you know what he was getting at. I caved and literally sat there for probably 10 minutes before sending her a text telling her I didn’t wanna be with her anymore just because he got to my head. I was young. Regretted breaking up with her instantly. Started talking to her and apologizing for saying what I said and I wanted to fix things well I was vacationing in Florida at the time and it just so happened she was coming down to visit family that lived literally in the same block at our hotel. We seen each other and decided to fix things. Keep in mind. I have no complaints over this woman what so ever at this time everything is amazing. Well I had already been talking to this one girl and already told her we could hang out and my friend said I could bring her to his house. Keeping it short my baby mama showed up after and I felt to guilty I couldn’t even look at her. She found out clearly. called off me and her getting back together and proceeded to open her legs to guys that could sweet talk her and say they can offer her more Than I could. We would date or she’d claim to wanna try again only until she found a new bf really tho and she would even cheat on her bf’s with me. She eventually got pregnant we’re 17 and 18 at this time so she’s been doing this to me for a couple years. literally when I decided she wasn’t going to take me back she got pregnant😅we disagreed ab what to do and didn’t speek her whole pregnancy bc she was unsure of the dad. I get served child support papers two months after he born bc her and dude broke up. Never asked if I’d help or anything. Straight to papers my redditors. Gets into an argument with her mom and moves in with me we start dating again and she starts messaging guys flirting with them a couple months in. She leaves and leaves me with the kid. I eventually get child support dropped. 6-7 months later she had enough fun I guess and decided to “mother up” we start becoming friends and really close because we’re basically all we have from high school. She finds a pos 17 year old bf and gets into a drug induced abusive relationship for 5 years and has two kids with him. I date a couple women and eventually we both end up single last year she’s gone through tremendous change and maturing(sober now as well) so I asked her out on a date and she agreed. Now before this we had been talking for about a month straight ab our relationship pov and ours pretty much matched up like twins which brought the idea to ask her. We dated strong for about 5 months but she got on a downer pretty bad and the last two months she became very emotional. Made huge fits about me needing to answer every single time she says something no matter how little. And would cry about how I’m not treating her right. Now. I help her with our son as a father should and was treating her two youngest like my own and being the father figure they needed. Would cook for the house and make her and kids plate. I’m recently out the hospital going through physical therapy at the time(too much to explain just sum it up as temporary paralysis) so she’s working and I’m currently waiting to go back to work after PT, I make sure to have her clothes shoes ready for work majority mornings and at the end of the day it was practically on me to put the kids to sleep and feed them because she’s on downers so bad. I have all this and I’m still supportive of her getting clean and affectionate How is any of this not treating her right? She sees her ex behind my back “to get something to help her get clean” different guy not baby daddy number two. And it took me finding out on my own. Fast forward a month I decide to go through her phone only to find out she’s been talking to not just him but multiple men sending explicit photos to them but it had been happening since we’ve been together I tell her she needs to leave and she said she already had a place to go. I told her how betrayed I felt more as a friend than a partner and didn’t think she’d do that to me again after we became such close friends because we both agreed we valued our friendship over the relationship. Well I told her friends don’t do what she did she should have left me and not made me fall for her again knowing she had two more kids coming with her. She used me again to heal her and I fell in love with these kids hard and her. And I just need to know if I’m making the right choice ending our friendship? Because even as friends I’ve only hung out with her in her times of distress or heartache.ive always been there for her even times her family wasn’t..she it the love of my life and I wish I knew what to do to win her over again but nothing ever works. And bows she’s done thing after we became such good friends…I hate it and I need to know if I’m making the right choice here? I mean based on evidence the answer should be easy. Hello,
If I am interviewing for roles as a tech worker doing a job that can be done fully remote…I currently work remotely in tech and have accommodations for my disabilities.
One company has a role out of state but also have local offices. The role claims to be in that city/state because the team sits there. So far everyone I’ve interviewed with is not located in that office. It also seems to be a 3/2 hybrid.
Would it be unheard of if I got and signed an offer to then ask for an accommodation to not relocate for the job?
I was thinking I could also offer to travel to the city for a brief Time every week to onboard and bond with my team for 1-2 months before returning to be remote. It’ll sap all my energy but I want to be as reasonable as possible

If I am interviewing for roles as a tech worker doing a job that can be done fully remote…I currently work remotely in tech and have accommodations for my disabilities.
One company has a role out of state but also have local offices. The role claims to be in that city/state because the team sits there. So far everyone I’ve interviewed with is not located in that office. It also seems to be a 3/2 hybrid.
Would it be unheard of if I got and signed an offer to then ask for an accommodation to not relocate for the job?
I was thinking I could also offer to travel to the city for a brief Time every week to onboard and bond with my team for 1-2 months before returning to be remote. It’ll sap all my energy but I want to be as reasonable as possible

So Background info: My father and I have a very complicated relationship. Due to his job working the night shift, he really wasn’t present in my life until I was 10ish. I really used to idolize him and was a daddy’s girl back then lol. But other than that, we never really bonded you know?
My father has anger issues and used to scream at me and my siblings. He’s unfortunately the type of angry that ruins the entire mood and everyone has to walk on eggshells around him. When he yells, it’s incredibly frightening because he’s a large man and quite intimidating. I remember one instance where he screamed at my older brother (who was an adult at the time) and my brother looked visibly shaken. I was 10-11 at the time.
But my older brother has also told me that he has mellowed out throughout the years, because he used to really get on him. My family has reassured me that he loves me deeply, he just has issues stemming from his own childhood. Although he has said I love you and is physically affectionate, I don’t feel loved by him.
Throughout my teen years, we butted heads HARD. I will admit I was the problem child and horrible at times. I never really learned how to regulate my emotions, whether that’s upbringing or my mental illnesses idk. There was times where it felt like home wasn’t a safe space. When my mental health took a dive for various other reasons, I asked multiple times for help but I was dismissed repeatedly. I only got help when I got involuntary committed to a hospital. I developed a pattern of emotional outbursts because it was the only way for me to express my overwhelming emotions and get help. These outbursts only angered my father more.
When I got to high school, I went to therapy and got medicated. I started to stand up to him as I became less and less afraid of him and that worsen our relationship further. At one point, I left the house for a few days because I felt unsafe. He’s never laid hands on me but Ive wished many times he had so I could erase my own doubts that he’s abusive (that’s fucked up, I know). Since I moved away to college, our relationship has gotten better. He still triggers/irritates me but that’s parents for you. I’ve been trying to move on and grow from the past because my life now is so peaceful and hopeful. It kinda felt like he was proud of me.
On to the situation now: this weekend we were celebrating my 20th birthday. This is an enormous milestone for me because tbh I thought I would be dead by now lol. But throughout the weekend, my father has been triggering/annoying me. My father likes to “joke” that I’m too expensive. I hate when he makes these jokes because it makes me feel like a burden and reminds me of a super traumatic experience. These jokes have increased since I got a job.
When we got dressed to go out and eat, he didn’t liked my outfit because it not appropriate (it was an off shoulder short romper). I’m big chested and my chest have been an issue for me multiple times in the past. He spoke to my mom and made her tell me to change. I ofc got upset but I changed and decided to assert my authority since I’m like an adult adult now. Admittedly I did not handle this correctly, I blame my lingering teenage hormones. I showed him my new outfit and said “This will be the last time I will seek your approval on my wardrobe.” He immediately raised his voice at me, which triggered me, and said that he would not go out with me if I’m dressed inappropriately. I told him that he doesn’t have to come. When I asked my mom for her support, she didn’t give a straight answer. He went, I tried to enjoy dinner but I couldn’t. All of us just went on our phones and silent most of the time.
This isn’t the first time he has ruined an important event in my life by being angry with me. My 17th, 18th, my brother’s college graduation, my high school graduation etc, all those events just flashed through my mind. I really just spiraled as I contemplated if this was what my 20s was gonna be like. I was crying while my parents sang happy birthday to me. When he gave me a forehead kiss, I honestly wanted to vomit. I went to my room and sobbed.
My mom, the next day, took me back to my apartment and we both cried in the car. She apologized to me for my terrible birthday and we agreed it’s best if we go LC (low contact). My mom has been in the middle of my father and I for YEARS. She’s the middleman/mediator between us and it kills her. I feel like a terrible daughter because I make her go through this. The thought of talking to him makes me ill. He has his good moments but I honestly don’t think those fleeting moments is worth the pit in my stomach anymore. I feel like I became an orphan overnight and I’m alone in the world. I feel like I’m dying. We are at an impasse because I don’t think I can move forward without major change and my father is resistant to apologizing/therapy. I feel like this is all my fault because I’m an AS and I’m too sensitive and petty and overreacting again.
How can I move forward? Am I overreacting? Can our relationship get better?

Sitting on the porch listening to the sounds of the forest pervading through the deafening silence. It’s peaceful, I always loved being around nature, who doesn’t? I loved to stroll through these woods, I knew every major and minor trail in that small neck of woodland.
My purpose for doing so at the time was that of curiosity, I wanted to know what was out there? Where do all the trails lead to? My mother, terrified of the very idea of me being anywhere but home bothered me. It made me feel sterilized, like if I were to fall in just the right way, I would shatter into a million tiny pieces. So telling her about my plan to “sleep over at Dylan and Tyler’s house” aka sneak into the woods to do some camping with said friends, and possibly some cute girls. Yea that will smooth over just fine, about as smooth as twenty grit, that’s a sandpaper joke haha. Cause it’d be rough ? Anyways…
Mom: Don’t you think it’s a little last minute to go to your friends? I just put dinner in the oven.
Me: I know and I’m sorry about it being last minute, there’s just only so much summer vacation left before school starts.
Mom: I suppose that’s fine but you’re lucky your father isn’t home from work, he would have shut you down on the spot.

Before the words can fully register, I’m greeted to the familiar jingles and mechanical lock, unwinding to the twist of my father’s key. Thankfully I was prepared for this moment, in fact, I had trained for it my whole life. With my bag in one hand, I knew I had about fifteen seconds to bolt out the back door, and into the woods. careening through trees with no regard for bodily harm, I accelerated, started going a little too fast, and tripped over my own foot. My head colliding with a stump a few feet away from the trail, everything going black in an instant. Silence fell over me, I don’t know how long I was out, but it had to have been a while, the sky was now a deep reddish hue of orange. Scanning my surroundings, and then myself, I notice I’m mostly unscathed. As I pick myself up, and begin to head down the trail. I could have swore, for just a moment, that I could hear music coming deep from within the woods.
As I continued to walk down the trail to my friend’s property line, I could swear the music was getting louder, and as it drew closer, the last remaining light that shined its way through the dense brush ceased its activity, as the air around grew cold and bitter in my mouth. I could finally make out what that music was coming from the forest. I knew this song… my mom would listen to it all the time, but something was off about the song almost uncanny. It sounded like it was crackling, like there was static behind the song. As if somebody had just put on vinyl, you could hear the needle popping. Me: whoever’s out there this isn’t funny! I shout into the woods, my statement greeted with silence, the music had stopped. Not only the music, but all the sounds from the forest had stopped simultaneously. The air grew even colder, I had stopped walking at this point. The silence became so loud, that I became scared to make a sound, or move, I felt sweat begin to form at the center of my palms. Even in total darkness, in total silence, even when I felt invisible. Those two bright eyes staring directly at me, no through me. I’m in complete shock, I can’t move my legs, whatever this was it wasn’t human. It was way too tall, and way too dark to see an outline of its body.
That’s when the silence broke, I could hear the popping the crackling static as the song began to play again. “Run rabbit, run rabbit, run, run, run Run rabbit, run rabbit, run, run, run Bang, bang, bang, bang goes the farmer's gun Run rabbit, run rabbit, run, run, run, run.” It was coming from the direction of the eyes, but this time it was so loud, it was making my ears ring, I felt nauseous, like I was gonna fall down at any moment, but my legs kept me upright. As the song grew even louder my stomach churned, I was gonna throw up, I genuinely felt that sick.
Like the song was triggering my gag reflex or something, my throat became scratchy, and suddenly it was getting harder breathe. I could see long, porcelain white fingers outstretched from the shadows above me. Its hands were so large, the way they slowly advanced from above. For a moment, they almost look like wings from an angel. But no angel I’m aware of comes from the shadows, this was nothing like that. Its hands wrap around me tethering me, Immobilizing my paralyzed body even further. Lifting me from the ground, I remain stationary for a brief moment. Before I’m sucked into the void silence, once again consumes everything, every noise. And like a star had exploded, light broke through the dreaded silence, when suddenly. Me: “I was awake, right where I had first fallen, like all of it was a bad dream. But it felt too real to just shake off, this time I made it through the trail, I made it to my friend’s house, and now, I’m here with you guys! Camping out in the woods… I didn’t even wanna tell you guys cuz, I knew you’d just laugh.” The fire crackles around three dimly lit faces their silence speaks volumes, all staring intensely in my direction, their names are Tyler, Dylan, and Rachel. We’ve all been friends for longer than I can remember, Rachel is the first to speak up.
Rachel: holy shit Connor what the fuck was that story? you have all of us looking over our shoulders here! But it’s just a story tho why wouldn’t you wanna tell us? Dylan: yea what’s with holding out on us Connor are you trying to say that really Happened or something? He’s smirking when he says that, the comment makes my face feel hot. Rachel and Dylan chuckle about it a bit. But Tyler’s face is stone cold, he’s looking directly at me. Like I had just punched his mom in the face or something. I could see the knuckles on his hands begin to turn white, the chuckles where interrupted by Tyler’s four only words Tyler: you heard the music too ?
The way he looked at me when he asked that question, I didn’t know if I had the answer or not anymore. Connor: yea why? Tyler: because I’ve heard it before too, every night I hear it, it gets louder, and louder, and then… everything goes quiet, So quiet I can hear myself think.
Dylan, Tyler’s brother, someone who he had shared a connection with since birth, someone who knew his brother longer than anyone else. Never had I seen Dylan look so distraught and frightened, hearing those words leave his brother’s mouth. Everyone taken back by Tyler and my statements we all stare at each other, the fire crackling through the eerie silence of the forest. None of us know what to say, Rachel once again, breaks the tension. Rachel: has anyone heard any animals in the woods since Connor’s story? With my bag in one hand, I knew I had about fifteen seconds to bolt out the back door, and into the woods. careening through trees with no regard for bodily harm, I accelerated, started going a little too fast, and tripped over my own foot. My head colliding with a stump a few feet away from the trail, everything going black in an instant. Silence fell over me, I don’t know how long I was out, but it had to have been a while, the sky was now a deep reddish hue of orange. Scanning my surroundings, and then myself, I notice I’m mostly unscathed. As I pick myself up, and begin to head down the trail. I could have swore, for just a moment, that I could hear music coming deep from within the woods.
As I continued to walk down the trail to my friend’s property line, I could swear the music was getting louder, and as it drew closer, the last remaining light that shined its way through the dense brush ceased its activity, as the air around grew cold and bitter in my mouth. I could finally make out what that music was coming from the forest. I knew this song… my mom would listen to it all the time, but something was off about the song almost uncanny. It sounded like it was crackling, like there was static behind the song. As if somebody had just put on vinyl, you could hear the needle popping. Me: whoever’s out there this isn’t funny! I shout into the woods, my statement greeted with silence, the music had stopped. Not only the music, but all the sounds from the forest had stopped simultaneously. The air grew even colder, I had stopped walking at this point. The silence became so loud, that I became scared to make a sound, or move, I felt sweat begin to form at the center of my palms. Even in total darkness, in total silence, even when I felt invisible. Those two bright eyes staring directly at me, no through me. I’m in complete shock, I can’t move my legs, whatever this was it wasn’t human. It was way too tall, and way too dark to see an outline of its body.
That’s when the silence broke, I could hear the popping the crackling static as the song began to play again. “Run rabbit, run rabbit, run, run, run Run rabbit, run rabbit, run, run, run Bang, bang, bang, bang goes the farmer's gun Run rabbit, run rabbit, run, run, run, run.” It was coming from the direction of the eyes, but this time it was so loud, it was making my ears ring, I felt nauseous, like I was gonna fall down at any moment, but my legs kept me upright. As the song grew even louder my stomach churned, I was gonna throw up, I genuinely felt that sick.
Like the song was triggering my gag reflex or something, my throat became scratchy, and suddenly it was getting harder breathe. I could see long, porcelain white fingers outstretched from the shadows above me. Its hands were so large, the way they slowly advanced from above. For a moment, they almost look like wings from an angel. But no angel I’m aware of comes from the shadows, this was nothing like that. Its hands wrap around me tethering me, Immobilizing my paralyzed body even further. Lifting me from the ground, I remain stationary for a brief moment. Before I’m sucked into the void silence, once again consumes everything, every noise. And like a star had exploded, light broke through the dreaded silence, when suddenly. Me: “I was awake, right where I had first fallen, like all of it was a bad dream. But it felt too real to just shake off, this time I made it through the trail, I made it to my friend’s house, and now, I’m here with you guys! Camping out in the woods… I didn’t even wanna tell you guys cuz, I knew you’d just laugh.” The fire crackles around three dimly lit faces their silence speaks volumes, all staring intensely in my direction, their names are Tyler, Dylan, and Rachel. We’ve all been friends for longer than I can remember, Rachel is the first to speak up.
Rachel: holy shit Connor what the fuck was that story? you have all of us looking over our shoulders here! But it’s just a story tho why wouldn’t you wanna tell us? Dylan: yea what’s with holding out on us Connor are you trying to say that really Happened or something? He’s smirking when he says that, the comment makes my face feel hot. Rachel and Dylan chuckle about it a bit. But Tyler’s face is stone cold, he’s looking directly at me. Like I had just punched his mom in the face or something. I could see the knuckles on his hands begin to turn white, the chuckles where interrupted by Tyler’s four only words Tyler: you heard the music too ?
The way he looked at me when he asked that question, I didn’t know if I had the answer or not anymore. Connor: yea why? Tyler: because I’ve heard it before too, every night I hear it, it gets louder, and louder, and then… everything goes quiet, So quiet I can hear myself think.
Dylan, Tyler’s brother, someone who he had shared a connection with since birth, someone who knew his brother longer than anyone else. Never had I seen Dylan look so distraught and frightened, hearing those words leave his brother’s mouth. Everyone taken back by Tyler and my statements we all stare at each other, the fire crackling through the eerie silence of the forest. None of us know what to say, Rachel once again, breaks the tension. Rachel: has anyone heard any animals in the woods since Connor’s story? I swear when he was telling it I could hear some birds, but now, it’s like the forest is completely empty.

 | We all know the Stalker as this relentless avenger, hunting down Tenno because he witnessed how they assassinated the Orokin and systematically executed them. But I honestly think this motivation is way too simplistic for DE's standards, and that the upcoming update is meant to fix that by going deeper in the narrative and the Stalker's moral complexity. I've also always been curious about what higher guardians would be if the Stalker is just a lower guardian. So here's some of that theory-time. submitted by AshenTao to Warframe [link] [comments] "Kill what killed my masters" is just way too direct for DE. Warframe's narrative is often intricate tales of betrayal, hidden motives, and redemption. It wouldn't make much sense for the Stalker's drive to be so straightforward. I don't think it feels right giving him such a basic story. Considering we are going on an exploration of Stalker's background, it's likely that we'll get a glimpse of the Orokin empire in the past. [Speculation] In comes Jade: a Warframe that might be a higher guardian of the Orokin, deeply involved with the Stalker, perhaps even romantically. The fall of the Orokin could have been a devestating personal loss for the Stalker, losing not just his masters but also his love - with love being one of the major drivers of (ironically) hatred. This loss could provide a much richer, more compelling motive for his vengeance against the Tenno by blaming them for the collapse of the Orokin empire and primarily the loss of his love. "But Lich, you're just shipping those" - no. DE has a habit of exploring different emotions in detail to the point where you could even think that DE has some sort of plan about teaching players how emotions work - the Chains of Harrow quest is pretty much a guide through emotions. You all registered losers might need it. Jokes aside, previous quests involved loss & grief, betrayal, redemption, identity and self-discovery, fear and courage, loneliness and connection, and sacrifice. There were a couple of hints at love and the dramatic aspects associated with it, but they were never brought up in detail. The Stalker has previously shown various emotions non-verbally - confusion about his identity as one of them. This would be DE's chance to go into their usual emotion-driven direction, but this time about love, loss, the hatred that came with the Stalker's loss, and coming to terms with it. Couples going through various developments are a very good way to establish a emotion-driven story, which you can easily see with Xayah and Rakan from League of Legends, Geralt and Yennefer from the Witcher series, Master Chief (my man!) and Cortana from Halo, Link and Zelda from the Legend of Zelda, Shendelzare and Dragonus from Dota, Jim Raynor and Sarah Kerrigan from Starcraft - you get the point. It also markets itself well - you know the whole ordeal surrounding e-couples nowadays, and how people tend to get their partner into the same games that they play. Additionally, we have Jade's weapons: Evensong, Cantare, and Harmony, which are fittingly counterparts to Dread (also a bow), Despair (also throwing knives), and Hate (both scythes). And if that's not enough, take a look at Jade's scythe in the concept art, which has a similar look to Hate. Whether the Stalker got those designs after the events as a dedication to Jade or if he had those before is unknown, but would likely be revealed in the quest. In terms of abilities, according to Pablo, Jade supports her team and debuffs enemies - also consider that the stalker is more about dealing damage and (to some degree) tanking, which would be another synergy. There's a lot more speaking for the possible use of Jade as a higher guardian and as the love of the Stalker. But to continue, I'll proceed with the possible redemption that may also come into play: Jade would, if she was a higher guardian, have a few main possibilities on what could happen:
We could see a new dimension to the Stalker, one that goes above his current portrayal as a mere avenger. This update would redefine our understanding of the Orokin and their guardians, adding layers to their history and their interactions with each other and giving us much more info about the Orokin empire. That's my share of a random 4AM thought. |

- public: G7 (en) is the only company recognized as public taxis in Paris. It applies fixed fares for travels between the two main airports (CDG and ORLY) and the two sides of the city (left bank / right bank of the Seine river), booking or extra services fees not included.
- private: Uber are widely used, others are available like Bolt, Heetch, Marcel or Freenow
- Day trip
- the Trainline (en) is a very straight forward and efficient data aggregator from various European train and bus companies. (the national one sncf-connect being a bit of a nightmare to use)

- Civil unrest
- Sporadic and sudden protests are very rare. The existence of a protest is very regulated, the day and the route have to be agreed with the authorities several days prior to the date.
- Authorized protest or march
- a march usually lasts from 2pm to 6pm and most demonstrators stay until 8pm at the final destination
- Demonstrators (and/or police) outbursts are more likely to happen at the end from 8pm
- Most of the stores along the route close for the whole day, and side accesses to these boulevards are barred by the police to motorized vehicles.
- 95% of the city goes on as usual in terms of street life.
- Metro lines M1 and M14 are automated and thus operate whether there is a strike or not.

- UbeHeetch/Bolt/FreeNow: categorized as VTC ("Véhicules de Tourisme avec chauffeur"), unregulated price

- Density & safety level: Paris administrative area ("Paris intramuros") is fairly small for a global capital but the population density is very high. Besides that, Paris is currently the most visited city in the world. This situation inevitably leads to various problems or dramas from time to time and one should beware of this cognitive bias. No public statistics accessible, but Paris' safety level is said to be fairly comparable to other big Western metropolis like London, Rome, Barcelona, Brussels or NYC but lower than Amsterdam, Berlin or generally Scandinavian / Central / Eastern European cities.
- Violent crime: it is very unlikely in inner Paris, European gun laws being much more restrictive than US laws.
- Pickpockets & scams: while generally safe, you might be exposed to pickpockets, scams or harassment in crowded areas, be it touristic, commercial or nightlife hubs. Keep your belongings in sight and try not to display too much costly items. Avoid unsolicited street vendors (not to be confused with, say, street artists near Montmartre or "bouquinistes" of the quays of Seine) and the occasional street games like Bonneteau ("shell game") that are known scams.
- Cat-calling: this is a common issue towards women in Mediterranean countries. In Paris, it is more prevalent in the more modest neighborhoods in the North / North-East- of the city.
- Emergency: If you are in an emergency situation, call 17 (police) / 18 (firefighters but who also handles all life and death emergencies) / 112 (universal European emergency number). All of them are interconnected and will be able to redirect you to the correct one if you happen to pick the wrong one.
- Neighborhoods:
- Tourism is concentrated in the rich areas from the center (roughly arrondissements 1st to 8th + Montmartre 18th).
- As in most cities, main train stations tend to attract more people from the outside, hence a bit riskier, especially at night and crowded metro lines serving the main landmarks
- The northern outskirts of the city (around Porte de la Chapelle / Porte d'Aubervilliers / Porte de la Villette) are home of temporary refugee camps, a high poverty and rarely drug use in the open. It could feel quite unsafe at night, better be accompanied by locals if you want to venture around at night there or simply pass through.
- The surroundings of the very central area of Les Halles (around the eponymous commercial mall) can be a bit messy at night as a lot of young people gather here for eating / drinking or hanging out in the streets. It is still home of great streets for night life like rue Saint Denis but beware of the crowds.
- Also metro stations on line 2 Barbes, La Chapelle and Stalingrad and their surroundings are among the most modest and messy, with countraband cigarettes sellers and potential pickpockets.(currently there's a dramatically sad camp of young migrants from Afghanistan under the bridge of the metro station Stalingrad)
- Southern and Western parts are more posh and family oriented but could be "less lively" than the rest of the city.
