Question regarding uninsured medical expenses on child support worksheet in Maine.... The child support worksheet (and our divorce decree) state that uncovered medical expenses (such as copays, dental and vision) will be paid for with the non-policy holder, in this case myself, paying the first $250, then we split based on our income percentages. My question is, where we have two children, should I be interpreting this as $250 PER CHILD or $250 for the children as a whole? Below is the excerpt from the state website.... Thank you for any clarity you can provide! "Responsibility for nonrecurring or subsequently occurring uninsured medical expenses in excess of $250 in the aggregate per child or group of children supported per calendar year must be divided between the parties in proportion to their adjusted gross incomes."

2024.05.02 05:37 ImmortalOrange How am I supposed to do it all?

I am feeling very… incompetent and overwhelmed. I would love for some fellow ECE professionals to tell me if I have a right to feel this way and what I should do about it. I would also love some advice from parents, as I feel like the parents of my kids are becoming increasingly frustrated with me about their child’s lack of visible educational growth.
For context, I was hired to be the lead pre-K teacher for a group of 10+ mixed-age kids (not saying the exact amount) with the average age being four years old. I was hired under the understanding that I would have an assistant and a certain amount of time per week of planning.
At first, I had an assistant. She was there for about 3 weeks before I could tell she did not like the pressure of the classroom. When the admin offered her a different position outside of the classroom, she took it. I’m not faulting her for that, but where my issue lies is that they told me about this change one day and it went into effect immediately the next day, meaning I was quite literally alone within 24 hours. That was a few months ago. They have not hired a replacement.
Here’s where I find myself drowning. Although I am within ratio, my workload has increased exponentially due to the fact that it’s just me. As it stands, I am the opener, the middle, and the closer for my room. I have been coming in to work five to ten minutes early every day so I can clean and prep a bit before I get my kids from the class next door. I take down the chairs, set the calendar, lay out breakfast, make sure the bathrooms are clean, and then I get my kids. During nap, I clean the sinks, toilets, mirrors, tables, floors, windows, door handles, a bucket of toys, and the chairs. After the kids leave, I clean the bathrooms again, sinks, vacuum, sweep, mop, restock supplies and cleaners, and laundry. Since I am the lead, I am also responsible for curriculum. I’m supposed to plan a month in advance, get supplies, prep materials, execute lessons daily, and document the children (parents are supposed to receive MINIMUM of four photos per week). On top of this, since I am alone, I am the only one who is able to monitor and correct behavior. Three of my kids can be just plain mean. I have four with speech needs. Four of them are quite physical. There’s three pairs of kids who do not get along AT ALL, and there’s one who only speaks by yelling. My eyes have to be scanning the room always. To be quite frank, between cleaning and putting out fires, curriculum has been on a back burner. I usually let them free play and do my best just to keep them alive. I have not been getting my planning time per week, so doing it during the day hasn’t been possible. I end up leaving anywhere from 10-50 minutes late every day, and I get in trouble for overtime. I would say I could skimp on some cleaning or closing duties, but since im the closer and the opener in my room, cutting corners means that I screw myself. During the day, no one checks on me. If we haven’t had callouts, a floater will let me go to the bathroom once in the morning, but other than that, I’m on my own for the whole day.
Parents have been pointedly asking me what their child is learning. One mother said, “I see she comes home with art, but what are the things she is LEARNING?” (Her child spends the majority of free play in the art center). I wasn’t mad at the question. It’s a totally fair thing to ask. But it sure was awkward for me to stand there and try to explain how her child did not in fact learn anything that day (academically speaking, at least. She did learn how to share and socialize, so I count that as learning). I just don’t have physical evidence of academics because there isn’t even time for me to run to the printer to copy a worksheet. I sense the tension with a couple other parents who are academically focused. I know they know that I’m not getting the lesson plans done. It’s embarrassing and even though I really am trying my hardest, I’m so ashamed.
My boss has not been helpful. I’ve told her multiple times that I’m struggling and she says “I understand.” I’ve told her I am doing the job of two people and she said, “we’re hiring for that spot.” I was told a few months ago that they were bringing in two people to interview. I’ve emailed HR and got sent to a higher up, who said she also “understands.” I have asked for help and made my needs known, but nothing changes.
I find myself snappy with the kids and getting burned out. It feels like my treadmill pace is set to 15 but I can only run 9. I can’t keep up. I’m overwhelmed and discouraged. I feel like I’m disappointing parents and not living up to expectations. I feel like a glorified babysitter. I feel very alone and voiceless. I feel like I am doing the job of 2 people, yet I get in trouble for not doing it in 8 hours. Ultimately, it feels like I simply just can’t do it all.
ECE professionals: Do I have a right to feel this way? Is this a typical workload, or is this actually unreasonable? Parents: How would you react if you knew your child’s teacher was in this situation? Would you be upset at the teacher for not completing lesson plans as expected?
TL/DR: I’m flying solo and struggling. Is this normal?

2024.04.18 20:41 sonofniya Trying to find a function to count total weekdays and weekend days worked per month for an employee

I was wondering if anyone is able to help me out. I’m trying to create a worksheet which solves a problem I am encountering.
I have just hired a member of staff on flexible working days. She is paid more if she works on a weekend day than if she works on a weekday.
I wanted to create a calendar excel where I can input each day she works in any given month and it will automatically count up the total weekdays worked and total weekend days worked for that month. It will really help with my payroll calculations.
Anybody able to help me on how I could do such a thing as I’m a total novice!
Thanks very much

2024.03.15 09:52 SaukstasProto Indulge or take care of youself?

Indulge or take care of youself?
When you are lying on a massage table - are you indulging yourself or taking care of yourself? What about when you are waking up without an alarm clock? When you eat a pastry? Or when you eat a bowl of vegetable stew? When you decide to go for an exercise? Or when you decide to skip an exercise? When you buy an expensive thing? Or when you buy an expensive thing you have saved for?
Do you see a difference here, or am I only looking for the last year snow here? It may be irrational but I consider "taking care" as something positive and "indulging" as something negative, but indulging also sounds like fun, while taking care sounds like a chore. Or perhaps the layout is a bit different - you need to take care of yourself and you can indulge? Perhaps, that sounds a bit better. Then I have another question - does it happen that we skip the self-care part, because we believe we have no tome or resources for it, so we jump directly to the dessert? I guess this does happen, and quite often.
It is another Friday where I will nudge you to lean over an empty page or screen and try to write down - where do you take care of yourself, and where do you indulge. Also assess whether you like the distribution and has the right priorities for you personally. Or perhaps something should be changed. And then added to your calendar or task list :)
Wishing you peace and serenity.

2024.03.14 00:07 mikes2123 How can I edit a formula for an entire Calendar template?

Hi,
I am using the Student Assignment Planner template from Microsoft. It has three worksheets at the bottom -- an assignment list, a monthly calendar view, and a week view. I would like to change the default formula for each of the days in the monthly calendar view (really both views, but the monthly is more important). I have the formula I want to update it to. However, there's a drop down to select the month, and it seems like I might have to click through to each month and update the formula for each and every day. I know I can copy and paste the formula, but I'd still have to click through 12 different months and paste for all the days.
Is there a better way to either find/replace the formula across all the months (and weeks in the weekly view) or is there a central location where I can update this kind of thing?
Thanks!

2024.03.13 16:25 gfunkdave I gave up on tutoring after promising I'd stick around

I love kids but don't have any and am not going to have any. I volunteered with a local tutoring nonprofit to be paired with a kid to tutor them once a week, since I've done it before and enjoyed it. The agreement was that I'd commit to meeting once a week through the end of May. I started in November.
I was paired with a fifth grade boy who could not read and could barely add two small numbers. He didn't talk much and when I'd try to ask him anything, he'd just look at the floor and mumble something. He didn't even know how to sound out words. He mostly wanted to just play games on the Chromebook the organization provided. After a few months of that, I complained to the tutoring director that this kid needed a lot more help then I could ever give. The director looked at the kid's records and said "oh, he's special needs. We can't help him here, I'll tell his mom he needs to sign up with the tutoring center at a local university that specializes in special needs kids." Great - why was he assigned to me in the first place then?
They gave me another kid, a fourth grade girl who was interactive! I could talk to her and she'd talk back. She could read reasonably well, and she knew her times tables...sort of. I could work with this! Except...I'm not sure what was going on with her, but I came to realize she couldn't be taught. We spent an entire 90 minute session on adding fractions once, and she still didn't understand how to add fractions when it was done. I had her write down the two steps (make the bottom numbers the same, then add the top numbers) and she didn't even seem to understand the concept of writing down instructions to refer to later.
I realized that half the time when we were doing multiplication problems she would just call out a random number from 1-30 because she was looking at the calendar on the wall behind me. I'd ask her what's 7*5 and if she didn't know I'd say, OK, what's 7*4? She'd know that, and then I'd say if we know 7*4 then how can we figure out 7*5? No matter how many times I tried to get it across that you just have one more seven and you can add it to 7*4, she never got it. The last straw was when we took an hour to do a 5 question worksheet and one of the questions was "what is the range of this data?". I rephrased the question so she'd understand it and said, what are the smallest and biggest numbers on that number line? And she had no idea.
I slept on it and emailed the tutoring director that I'd had enough, I didn't feel like I was helping her, and I was just getting frustrated every Monday night. I offered to discuss if he wanted to talk. He never replied, and I didn't go back.

2024.03.12 04:08 DaShadyLady Mis Amigos! The day is here... 🎉Dig Deeper Challenge Complete 🎉

Mis Amigos! The day is here... 🎉Dig Deeper Challenge Complete 🎉
And like that, it's over. Almost like it never happened. Ha! Just kidding, my legs are already sore from today's workout. Was is worth 50 bucks? Or was it 60? Honestly, it was probably one of the best gifts I've ever been given, and imo Shaun T's best program. I may be giving you a biased opinion because it is a weight lifting program, but T25 has weights and I really couldn't get into that program. I gave it a shot after I finished Insanity Max 30, and it felt like a major downgrade. My first Beachbody program was the original Insanity when it first released. Let's get real, it's not a very sustainable workout for a lot of people. I will probably never do it again, but Dig Deeper is a program that I would feel comfortable trying again. I would modify my modified calendar and have a cable machine next time. Feels like you're pulling all day with that program.
Alright, I'll try not to make this too long. Try 😈😈😈 The photos! Got the final batch. I also included a pic of how my living room looks set up. There's a closet around the corner that I like to store everything in. Oh, I didn't have enough time to take any post workout pictures like I wanted to this morning, but I included a picture I took a few days back before I took a jab at trimming my bangs. I'll do better next time. 😆😆😆
Diet. So originally I really wanted to try the Ripped Calorie plan from Body Beast, but I think Dig Deeper was a bit too demanding for that caloric recommendation. My intermittent fasting experiment lasted about 5 days. I felt great doing it, but my body looked like it wasn't restoring glycogen at all. Like really flat looking so I decided it wasn't for me. Also tried carb cycling for the off days. That experiment lasted one off day. I just really don't work well on low carb. It makes me feel like I'm crashing all day. So what I ended up doing was recalculate for maintenance calories which dropped my caloric intake by 100 calories, making it 2200 (40/30/30 macro split). I really like these maintenance macros. It still allows me to cut, just at a way slower rate. I'm pretty much gonna keep my diet this way for a while. Should be hitting a fat loss plateau soon, but will just recalculate every 4 weeks.
So what's next? Since Week 2 of Dig Deeper, I was for sure ready to go try another round of Body Beast. Ended up creating a Body Beast Dig Deeper hybrid schedule. I'm still in the middle of typing it up, but will try to get it out to you guys this week. I think it's gonna be pretty good because you will get a nice mix of workouts plus mixing methods may be very complimentary. We shall see. Out of no where I had a much different idea. I was recently asked if I felt like Dig Deeper made me any stronger. Felt it like it did in Collection 3, but that question made me wonder if Beachbody in general has made me any stronger. So, I've decided to put it to the test. Chalean Extreme was the program I did getting back into Beachbody, 2 years ago in April. I kept my worksheets so I will be able to make some observations. I'll definitely fill you guys in on it. 🤓 For now, I'm going to try my best to take a week off. I normally last 3 days, but I'll start another round of Chalean Extreme after the break. I need a bit of time away from Dig Deeper, but would like to try my hybrid calendar in the fall.
Oh, the badge. I included a picture of the badge that you unlock when you compete Dig Deeper. To be fair, I normally wouldn't have been able to unlock it since I only did 2 rounds of Collection 2. My husband and I share the same account so he did 2 rounds also which counted towards the unlock. He went back to Body Beast around Week 6 because he lost 17 pounds eating at bulk calories which reminds me...I think this program is excellent for cutting, but I may have a hard time bulking with it. It just feels like your metabolic rate gets really triggered and it possibly all started with the Collection 1 muscle endurance training workouts. Maybe not, but my body seemed to be very responsive.
Final stats:
Age: 34
Height: 5'3"
Weight: Day 1 - 140.6lbs; Day 84 - 132.2lbs
Bust: Day 1 - 38"; Day 84 - 36"

Left Arm: Day 1 - 11½"; Day 84 - 11"

Last thing, Collection 2: Total Body. Ultra Summary. 3 Giant Sets ending with a Dig Deeper Moment. Time under tension. I'll note the EZ Bar modifications. Here's the workout:

I'm sure I missed something, but if you read this far, you're a champ. 🤓 Thank you Shaun T for putting out a nice weight training program for us. At the end of the day, I'm still impressed that he's still creating workouts. He's doin it. Special thanks to everyone who's been hanging in there with these posts. Not even sure why I decided to do it, but I'm glad I did. I really do appreciate everyone's support and kind words. You have no idea how much it means to me. Also, best wishes for everyone on their fitness journey! I hope you get where you want to be.
Thanks for hanging out! We should do it again sometime. 🖤🖤🖤

2024.03.03 14:08 bleppobloppo A6x2 in landscape mode vs. A5x(2) for note-taking?

Hey, everyone! I'm currently a high school student, and I've been interested in getting a digital notebook for a while. The supernote seems to be the most reliable, durable option for the price (if I get a remarkable, im not taking the risk of someone else breaking it)... I realize a lot of people could see this as a waste of money, but hey, at least I'm picking the one with the most longevity. I want this to last until at least the end of undergrad.
I want to use it to edit .pdf files (fill-in notes and worksheets), keep a well-organized planner and calendar, and replace most of my paper notebooks to take notes (for some assignments, the hassle of printing isn't worth it, so I do plan on keeping loose sheets in my bag). The A6-size is small, but I don't mind using it in landscape, and it seems like the issue of slow vertical scrolling is gone? Having an ultra-portable device like the nomad would have more utility outside school work as well. I feel like the compromises are worth it, especially considering that there is no way the price gap between the A5x2 and the nomad will be less than 80 dollars or so, which is understandable. Longevity is important to me, and I do wonder how it'll hold up once I get to college. Maybe the replaceable battery will mean I can use it for more than a decade... in that case, the A5x2 would be better. I plan on double-majoring in neuroscience and philosophy, so any input on which supernote be better for those majors would be helpful! One of my goals is to streamline my school supplies to go from my current oversized backpack to a much smaller, lighter setup since it's been making my back pain worse for years.
I don't mind waiting and saving up some more money, but if I can get nearly the same amount of utility with a tiny footprint and relatively tiny cost (again, I realize this might not be right for the high school-level). If it'd be better to wait until college before making the $299 purchase (current junior), I'll wait and try to make the best of it. Any and all help would be much appreciated!
Thank you ^

February 29th Special Days - Featuring Leap Year Freebies!

February 29th is... Leap Year Day/Leap Day
-- Leap Years are needed to keep our calendar in alignment with the Earth's revolutions around the sun. It takes the Earth approximately 365.242199 days – or 365 days, 5 hours, 48 minutes, and 46 seconds (a tropical year) – to circle once around the Sun. However, the Gregorian calendar has only 365 days a year, so if we didn't add a day on February 29 nearly every 4 years, we would lose almost six hours off our calendar yearly. After only 100 years, our calendar would be off by approximately 24 days!

Question for VA employees
Filed my claim for MST on 12/4/23. Still in evidence gathering, but got temp jurisdiction in SJ yesterday. Today, I saw these 3 updates to my claim. Any insight?

I have been on SSDI since 2007 for MH, but did not report the MST while in service. Still no C&P exams. Hoping the SSDI info and current civilian treatment records will be enough.
