2024.05.13 00:58 awanderingbonsai Pack needed

Hey! I am an ultramarathon runner planning on some record attempts next year. I need one ultralight (DCF preferably) running vest around 20L (15 would be okay). Simplistic design as I don’t like things hanging off and preferably in white but I will consider other colours - As thin as possible.. maybe 1.4oz?
Has anyone got anything like this for sale or could potentially send me a quote and we can discuss making one? If this goes well then I may commission more.
Thanks!

2024.05.11 20:07 PossibleAssociate741 3 seasons gear upgrade: Same same, but lighter

EDIT: Thanks to your replies and other posts on Reddit, I've finally settled on my sleeping bag - REI Magma 30 - and a sleeping pad - NEMO Tensor All-seasons.
I am now actively researching a 2P tent that would be 3 seasons + strong winds, yet light. I have my bias against non-freestanding because of past bad experiences.
Hello. I know the Reddit community is always passionate and full of first-hand experience.
I am trying to renew my trekking gear and I need some opinion.
Context and reasoning:
I have always been an occasional/recreational hiker I have the "80/20" gear set that you could find at Decathlon a few years ago (25 USD tent, 50 USD sleeping bag and pad), etc...
My current gear:
I plan to trek the Laugavegur in Iceland, end of July 2024. I don't have the gear above with me currently because I am in the USA.
As (1) I am stuck with less bang for my buck for budget options and (2) I am reaching my mid-30s, I think this is an occasion for upgrade my gear for something lighter.
Goals:
Profile:
- Male with narrow shoulders, 6.16"/188cm tall, side sleeper, sleeping warm outside of camping context, maybe average in camping context.
Examples of attractive options:
SLEEPING BAG (found! REI Magma 30)
https://www.rei.com/product/228707/rei-co-op-magma-30-sleeping-bag
https://featheredfriends.com/products/feathered-friends-hummingbird-ul-20-30-down-sleeping-bag?variant=20749594656822
I need to investigate more on those sleeping bags, but this seems to be one of the best weight/warms ratio that I could find. I don't feel I want to go heavier, nor more expensive. Waiting for a good sale.
Decision: Will go for the REI Magma 30 because it is lightweight and versatile with his full zip. I choose it over the Feathered Friends UL because I expect the Magma 30 to be at 250 USD on sale at REI this week.
SLEEPING PAD (found! NEMO Tensor all-seasons - thanks Reddit community!)
https://www.rei.com/product/222896/exped-ultra-3r-mummy-sleeping-pad
https://www.rei.com/product/217082/therm-a-rest-neoair-xlite-nxt-sleeping-pad
I think 3-4R would be me sweet spot. Do you know any alternative ?
EDIT: In term of pads, I am actually starting to switch my search from "as light as possible" (Xlite NXT) to "best comfort/weight ratio" (with 3+ real-world R-value) so started looking at Big Agnes Zoom UL, NEMO Tensor 4-seasons and Ether Light XT to give some examples. Reasoning is that I am fine with 1lb/500-600g if I can gain in comfort (and noise cause sleeping with GF). Maybe those will come with slightly increased durability too.
EDIT2: After more research, I think I'll be looking for more comfort on my sleeping pad - but I still want lightweight and good R rating. I am now debating between:
A. NEMO Tensor All-Seasons: 5.4R, 13oz (17oz packed)
https://www.rei.com/product/228436/nemo-tensor-all-season-ultralight-insulated-sleeping-pad
B. Big Agnes Rapide SL: 4.8R (really?), 18oz (22oz packed assuming)
https://www.rei.com/product/228436/nemo-tensor-all-season-ultralight-insulated-sleeping-pad
The A has a better R rating and weight, while the B is more comfortable and maybe more compact.
Decision: I think I'll go with the NEMO Tensor all-seasons for his great R rating and good rated comfort for an acceptable weight. Maybe the Rapide SL for my GF who will have a warmer-rated sleeping bag.
TENT
https://www.naturehike.com/products/naturehike-vik-series-970g-ultralight-15d-nylon-single-tent-nh18w001-k
https://www.kaviso.com/products/durston-gear-x-mid-2p-solid-ultralight-backpacking-tent
This is the remaining category for which I need to do deeper research. My poor old 30 USD Decathlon (MH100) did very well in rain and wind in NZ. This contrasts with another tent that was not self standing and was leaking.
Ideally I'd like to find a self-standing tent that is waterproof (like all night cold rain waterproof) and windproof, while being as light as possible. Impossible trilemna?
I'll upgrade the post as I find more options, as maybe it will help others.

2024.05.11 00:20 MichiganMan2424 [US-CA] [H] 2x Finalmouse SL12 Achilles Small, Finalmouse Ultralight PRO Black, Pwnage Stormbreaker Black [W] Paypal G&S, Local Cash, Trades

Timestamp
Local to 94551. Will likely add some other mice for sale tomorrow as well.
Prices reduced, again, and are OBO.
Prefer trades to sales, but have seen more interested in sales lately so posting these for sale as well. All prices are shipped, CONUS ONLY, same day if possible and guaranteed by the end of the next day. List of mice and mousepads I am looking for is below, feel free to ask about items not on my list.
Will discount for bundles.
Pwnage Stormbreaker Black $110 - Like new, only used twice because I prefer the LE Nacho color. Has brand new and unused red Pwnage glass skates installed. Comes in box with dongle and cable, does not include screwdriver or grip tape.
Finalmouse Starlight-12 Achilles Small $285 - Like new, complete-in-box. Rarely used, has incredible QC for one of the original SL12 (fantastic clicks, relatively centered scroll wheel). Just too small for my hand. Almost no signs of use. Has aftermarket skates installed, I forget which (likely tiger ice v1, tiger arcs, or corepad skates).
Finalmouse Starlight-12 Achilles Small $250 - Good condition, complete-in-box. Comes with FM-2 hyperglides installed which is why I purchased. Love the glide, but the small size is a dealbreaker for me. Has some wear most noticeably on the RMB (some black marks and a scratch from 1st owner) and the DPI/scroll wheel (some fading). The rest of the mouse is in excellent condition. You can get replacements for all of these parts for around $50 from FM, but I did not want to remove the hyperglides as they are so hard to find.
Finalmouse Ultralight PRO Black $90 - Collection piece I only used to validate functionality, does not have box. Found one that is complete-in-box so I am selling this one.
Can add or receive paypal/local cash depending on the trade.
Have >20 purchases and trades on mousemarket in the last 6 months.
Mostly just trying to diversify my collection. Looking for any of the below:

Fantastic bomber solo shelter, and the tarp works for two, but I’m always going on trips with my partner and we use a wider inner. 6) Hennessy Hammock 4 Season Expedition with XXL Snake Skins, New, $245 (regularly $309.90 = $289.95 + $19.95 for the XXL Snakeskins). Photos: https://imgur.com/a/LZN8HI8 Not only is the HH Expedition one of the best, most comfortable and durable 4 season hammocks you can get, it’s also popular for summer use in areas of high bug pressure as the double bottom is impervious to the worst mosquitoes (mosquitoes can bite through single layer hammocks). Many militaries rely on HH hammocks for good reason. Comes with attached mosquito netting, detachable Hex rain fly, support ropes, compression sack with set up instructions on back, complimentary standard 42" / 107 cm long "Tree Hugger" webbing straps to protect tree bark, and an oversized open-cell foam pad. HH asymmetrical design is very comfortable compared to more classic hammock designs.
7) Granite Gear Blaze 60L Backpack Women’s Fit, Highly Adjustable Regular Frame (18-21 in. torso), Black, New, only $189 (regularly $299.94 + Tax). Photos: https://imgur.com/a/SF9XV3r One of the most adjustable and comfortable lightweight load haulers. The capacity and generous extendable collar are great for longer trips or trips with heavier gear or a big water carry, yet easily cinch down for shorter trips. Women’s specific fit and frame is highly adjustable (also works great for men with narrower shoulder width). Makes a great winter pack too, with durable material and many lashing points.

2024.05.06 22:00 dgoggins2 [WTS] MLD DCF Supermid with DCF innernet, 37oz, Excellent condition, PRICE LOWERED

I have a DCF (cuben fiber) Mountain Laurel Designs Supermid for sale, with included DCF innernet. 37oz, and the lightest that I can find true 4 person sized ultralight double walled tent.
Pics and Verification:
https://imgur.com/a/3OwU9jc
Would be very comfortable for 3, and... cavernous for 2. Very storm worthy pyramid design, and 2024 4 person ultralight tent winner by outdoor gear lab. Pitching is a breeze since its a square shape and 4 main guyouts (minimum 4 stakes though can go to 8 or even 12 if desired for the other side guyouts).
Also included is a made to order Ruta Locura 66" pole, brand new. I usually just used 2 trekking poles lashed together with either cut up bike tube strips or ski straps.
Plus...I am including a custom made double thick polycryo ground cloth, with adjustable guyouts. This also helps with pitching, since you can stake out the cloth, which is see through so you can make sure the ground is clear. The tent then uses those same stakes for pitching! Groundcloth won't blow away in the wind either!
I have also switched out the guylines for Lawson reflective wire, and added long guyouts for the side panels, also from Lawson (also color coded...red front, green side, blue back).
Comes from a pet and smoke free home. Only used on overnights or shorter trips with the family. The DCF is in excellent condition....no holes or tears that I can find and I checked thoroughly. I did accidentally catch the innernet mesh once and made 2 small tears that I patched with tenacious tape on both sides, and a micro hole that I also taped both sides. Thats the only blemish on the tent.
I will make sure that the tent is packed very well in a sturdy box with packing material to make sure that it gets to you safely.
Mountain Laurel Designs sells the supermid for $885 + $395 for innernet + $52 pole + $13 shipping = $1345.
I am selling for $850 $800 shipped free!
Just let me know if you have any questions.

2024.05.06 15:12 mysticaria_ WHILL C2 - Size & Cruise Cabins

1) Anyone who uses the C2 with 16” seat, could you please provide some info about your body composition and/or share a photo?
2) Has anyone taken a C2 of any size on a cruise WITHOUT an accessible cabin? If so, what size seat and how was the fit through doorways? How much space did it take up to store? I’m ambulatory, so if needed I could disassemble and move it piece by piece.
A summary of my circumstances behind these questions: - Young adult (F) with hEDS and coexisting conditions - Leaning towards C2 despite larger size and weight (compared to ultralight folding options that I could more easily transport) because of comfort and handling - The latter option is obviously more ideal for a cruise in a standard cabin, but I trailed the one I was interesting in (Quickie Q50 R Carbon) and was disappointed in its handling. Pride is coming out with a similar model (bit lighter than current Jazzy Carbon; this was Jazzy Ultralight), but it will not be available for sale until after my trip. ** I also trailed the C2 and spoke with kind rep from WHILL. He told me he sold a C2 to someone going on a cruise with a standard cabin and even a video of them riding through the cabin doors. However, I believe this was the 16” seat, and I’m not positive if I would need 16” or 18”.
Thanks to anyone who read all this, and I hope some info here can also help others searching Reddit for advice on any of the models I mentioned!
Note: In addition to being disabled, I’m also about to become an OT, so I’m looking for personal experiences rather than knowledge.

Putting this together was pretty straight forward besides the shimming of the barrel which I'm not convinced is perfect yet. The gun shoots but I may need to add a shim and see if it chambers with less effort. It's not that it takes a lot of force, I'm just wondering if I can get it to be quieter.
The stock is finished way better imo than a boyds stock. I've bought one boyds stock and felt it was a little rough on how it was shipped to me. I feel like this stock is an absolute bargain due to the texturing on the grips comes standard.
I haven't been able to go shoot it besides running some cci 710 fps quiets through it with a suppressor.

1) Liteway Pyraomm Duo Tarp 2P Pyramid, Stealth Olive (just like MLD Duomid) + Liteway Pyraomm Mesh Half Inner, New (set up only once), $349 (Regularly $475 = Tarp $281 + Inner $194. Equivalent to MLD Duomid Tarp and Solomid XL mesh inner which sell for $470 = $290 + $180). Photos: https://imgur.com/a/Tq5mtRP - Extremely well-made pyramid shelter and generous half mesh inner - use the tarp alone, or the mesh alone on nice nights for stargazing, or both together for an ultralight double wall shelter. Fantastic bomber solo shelter, and the tarp works for two, but I’m always going on trips with my partner and we use a wider inner. Sheds wind far better than double trekking pole shelters. https://liteway.equipment/pyraomm-duo/pyraomm-duo-tarp https://liteway.equipment/pyraomm-duo-half-mesh
2) Hanchor Marl Large Backpack, 19-21 in. Torso, New, $239 (regularly $250 + $20 international shipping. The Hanchor Marl blows away similar volume HMG packs for carrying capability, comfort and construction (incredible stitching), and at a much better price. Aluminum stays can also be shaped to exactly fit the curve of your back. The load lifters work great to keep weight off your shoulders. Bright interior makes it easy to find gear. Convenient hip pockets with waterproof zips. Clean, simple design is a pleasure to use, with everything you need and nothing you don’t. Large size typically fits 19-21 in. torsos (removable aluminum stays are 23.5 in long). Photos: https://imgur.com/a/fxTthYj

It’s a thru-hiking classic. Lots of volume available at such low weight for big food loads between resupplies or for winter backpacking when you may have bulkier insulation, yet cinches down really well for when you don’t need as much space. This 2023 pack is functionally the same as the 2024 (the 2024 has a slightly different frame stay which functionally makes little to no difference - save over $125 with this one). 7) Hennessy Hammock 4 Season Expedition with XXL Snake Skins, New, $245 (regularly $309.90 = $289.95 + $19.95 for the XXL Snakeskins).

2024.05.03 08:15 General-Silver-4004 Nami Klami vs Segway GT2

No stranger to e transport. Had a 48v and 58v hub motor ebikes. Working on a 72v mid drive. Love to go fast. Like silence. Love bikes!
Office is 25 miles by road or 3 miles by train ($8). Train has a bike car. Office has a bike cage. Elevator in both. Trails nearby.
Almost bought a burn e and have long wanted one of the ultralight simple devices.
There is a Klami for $1,400 very lightly used an hour away ($100). There is the GT2 for $2,500 on sale delivered.
GT2 has the brand, that suspension, the lighting, great specs. Idk if it will make it 25 miles. And it’s heavy. Does the suspension knock… yikes. And all those an electronics are probably pretty proprietary.
Klami is used so no warrenty. The hand grips look pro. On/off throttle confirms it. Plus that frames tubular and grip tape is what tony hawk uses. And it’s lighter. less plastic. Better range.
Is the klami range actually better? Will I even care or just be rolling it onto a train?
On that not what about the carbon fiber air scooter or Mten…. Cost and stability I suppose.
Is the Klami a bit sqishy but is Segway just riding on the brand? The Klami videos seemed flexi and it is aluminum… Honda vs BMW - clear winner with the Bimmer. Is that what I’m comparing with Nami vs Segway.
The other idea is an euc - used v11 ($1000) or s16. Just simpler and smaller.
Or even a motorcycle - perhaps a KTM. Can take on the roads and get stability.
Could finish that ebike or start another even.
Anyhow, thoughts. Leaning towards reaching out on the Klami as it just seems more thought through and lockable and i could always resell it.

2024.05.02 15:24 janewatson112 Camping Hammock Market Report and Forecast 2024-2032

Camping Hammock Market Report and Forecast 2024-2032
Camping Hammock Market
According to the report by Expert Market Research (EMR), the global Camping Hammock Market Size is projected to grow at a CAGR of 5.9% between 2024 and 2032. Aided by the rising popularity of outdoor activities and the evolving preferences of campers, the market is expected to grow significantly by 2032.
Camping hammocks, distinct from traditional hammocks, are specifically designed for outdoor enthusiasts. These hammocks are portable, lightweight, and durable, offering a unique way to experience nature. Equipped with features like weather resistance, insect nets, and easy setup mechanisms, camping hammocks have become a preferred choice for hikers, backpackers, and casual campers.
The surge in the camping hammock market demand can be attributed to several factors. Innovation is a major influencer of the camping hammock market outlook. Recent advancements include the introduction of ultralight materials that make hammocks easier to carry without compromising on strength or durability. Additionally, integrated features like built-in storage, adjustable straps, and weatherproof covers have enhanced the functionality of camping hammocks.
Another notable innovation is the development of hammock tents, which combine the comfort of hammocks with the protection of a tent. These hybrid models offer a versatile solution for various camping environments and are gaining traction among outdoor enthusiasts.
Geographically, North America and Europe are accounting for significant portions of the camping hammock market share, attributed to the strong culture of outdoor activities and camping in these regions.
