Hindus believe that bathing at certain places on certain days will absolve them of sins, will lead them to heaven after death and will help them in purification of their minds. Aad Granth does not believe in such rhetoric or false beliefs(bharam). Maybe such magical stuff happens in the stories, but it does not happen in real life. Conveniently the stories are always from the past and none of the things that are done in the stories can be done by any regular human today. As followers of the wisdom of our satguru we should not believe in such rhetoric as-well. Our mind is the driver of the vehicle of our lives. Mahala 3 says that if our mind (driver of our life) is corrupt/impure/filthy/virtue-less (Man mailai) with false beliefs then our entire life will be filthy and miserable(sabh kichh mailaa). Any bathing or any cleaning the body from outside (tan dhotai) will not cleanse the mind of impure thoughts. This method will not purify our mind (man hachhaa na hoi).
Very few(viralaa boojhai koi) are willing to let rationality and logic from their satguru test their beliefs and so when their satguru is active, they tell their satguru to go away. For example, when ones satguru asks why one believes in reincarnation as there is no proof for it. The person tells their satguru to go away and not to question it as it is the truth. They claim the truth with no proof and say that you shouldn’t question it because it is the truth written. When the satguru of a Muslim asks why they pray towards a box when the entire world is beautiful and the creator is within everything, they tell their satguru to go away and not to question it as it is the truth of allah. What they don’t realize is that these false beliefs are stopping their minds from becoming cleansed(hachhaa). The reality and pondering of reality and its virtues(naam) is the greatest treasure that our satguru gives to us as it allows us to think with rationality without the veil of false belief. This was the rahaau line of the poem which is the central point and title of the poem having everything relate back to it. The satguru helps you remove false beliefs and once that has been done, it gives you the ability to ponder on the naam(reality).

Ok so I found this tiktok by @Modernidiot explaining this so I can't take credit. But Sylvia Plath is a famous American poet and author. She was married to Ted Hughes who was a British poet. They lived together in London. They were married SIX YEARS! Sylvia was very open bout her struggles with her mental health. She does by sicide in the "endless February" of 1963. The fortnight video follows a women in a mental hospital and end with a phone booth. Sylvia Plath went to a phone box the night she died to call Ted and didn't answer because he was out with another women. His second wife also died of sicide. This TikTok creator claims that's the Cassandra connection but I need to look more into that to understand. When Sylvia died she left behind two children and a manuscript called Ariel and then a second set of 19 poems. It's why it's a double album. My mind is blown away.

Ursula Sontheil reputedly was born in 1488 in Norfolk, England.

From an early age she exhibited stunning psychic gifts of foresight and prophecy. She was a contemporary of Nostradamus, but, being a woman, was not allowed his level of education and lacked his medical and astrological training and the forbearance of royal friends at court to nurture and protect her. At the ripe old age of 24 she entered a difficult marriage to Toby Shipton.
She correctly predicted the dissolution of the Catholic Church under Henry VIII, the fall of Cardinal Wolsey, the untimely death of Henry's son Edward VI, the horrific reign of “Bloody” Mary I, and the ascent of Queen Elizabeth to the throne of England. Many of her visions came true with shocking and specific clarity within her own lifetime and then in subsequent centuries as she peered down the corridors of Time to view the fate of Earth and all mankind. She became the feared and revered prophet of Tudor England.

Her name was spoken in low, hushed whispers, as if the very mention of her name would bring the disasters she spoke of down upon the head of he that spoke them. She eventually became known to serf and lord alike as Mother Shipton.
Like Nostradamus, to capture the public imagination and most likely to also avoid persecution for the crime of witchcraft, she published her prophecies in rhyme and verse. Still, she saved her penultimate work for her later years just before her death. And so in 1559 she published an epic poem for which she would become best known down through the ages. She died in Clifton, Yorkshire, in 1561, five years before Nostradamus.
This rare collection of Mother Shipton's prophecies was published thirty years ago. They were found by a woman who painstakingly transcribed them and managed to smuggle them out of the Mitchell Library, in Sydney, Australia (now the State Library of New South Wales).

The originals were kept in a locked room, along with many other volumes of prophetic writings deemed unsuitable for viewing by the general public. In light of recent world events these rare verses from Mother Shipton seem to have prophetic indications for our times, but, of course, are open to interpretation.

So, how do we save the world?
It may now only be possible to save the WORLD, but not our TIME.

Not our current structure, or society or civilization. Any more than it was possible to save the countless people and civilizations that have lived and died before ours.
The needless suffering on this planet is now so immeasurable that it pains the very universe in a way many of you who may lack the focus, intuition, training or ability to tune in to the Creator at Its Source, cannot understand.

When you learn the ability to be centered and still within yourselves, and make the water of the Earth your blood, the stone your bones, and the atmosphere your breath, you can hear Gaia weep. It cries out for an end.


Our prophets knew this time would come, and wove their awareness into our holiest texts. We now have split the seal on the Great Mysteries. The Book of the Seven Thunders is being revealed.

We have stupendous Thinking Machines at our fingertips that have cracked the very codes of Creation. From within the heart of the enigma, fragmented words and exact dates spill forth from the Torah, the Old Testament, the Hindu Vedas, that now seem to be giving us warnings, cryptic though they may be, for those with the eyes to see and the ears to hear.

The knowledge is burned within your genes, and now seeps into the superconscious and haunts the dreams of all of the people of the Earth.
I have long done what others have asked. What I felt was necessary. What I thought was right. I have delayed it. Others have delayed it. Teachers, healers and Masters have taken their students, friends, family, and followers into the very center of the maelstrom. At the eye of the hurricane we have used our bodies and focus and power to act as golden shards of light to quell the tide.

Like sparking acupuncture needles into the skin of Mother Earth, to adjust and realign her energy, to force her back into balance so that catastrophe might be averted and deflected time and time again.

Minute grains of salt can preserve a large quantity of food. Never underestimate the greatness of the battle by size of the battlefield. The fate of nations has rested on a few square feet of ground.

But there are powers so much greater than myself, and so much grander than all of us. Those powers do not see death as you do. They do not exist in TIME. They have seen the universe die and be reborn. Again and again.

Even so they mark the passing of a sparrow with as much reverence as the passing of a world.



All that happens, happens for a reason
So much of the past year has been focused on politics, economics, terrorism and holy war, that we seem to forget, or have been purposely led away from, the realities of the real dangers, both geologic and astronomic, that lie in wait beneath our feet or above our heads.
First let us look to the sky and to the past for the wisdom of the Mayans who were obsessed with TIME and the future.
THE VENUS PASSAGE and the MAYAN CALENDAR As I said before, global meditations act to absorb, deflect, direct or transmit energy. And just as a tiny acupuncture needle can be used to alter and heal the electromagnetic system of the entire body, by bringing energy into damaged areas, so can prayer direct and focus energy.

Sometimes the location is important, like knowing the exact place to stick the needle. But on other occasions, the TIMING is predominant, because we can then ride, guide, direct and surf a WAVE of preexisting energy.
So it was with the Harmonic Convergence of August 17th, 18th and 19th of 1987 and the Harmonic Concordance on November 8, 2003. Well, coming up there will be another opportunity to GUIDE and DIRECT a fabulously powerful vibration of LOVE down into the energy field of the Earth. The meditations on these occasions will be on the rare Venus passages in front of the Sun in the years 2004 and 2012.

Why is this? The most important reason is that we may already now know of their critical importance based on the nature of these astronomical occurrences and their place according to Mayan calendrics. Because the Mayan calendar, properly understood, is an expression of the divine plan predictions and based on this calendar we can make plans to utilize and direct this energy several years into the future.
The solar eclipse of August 11, 1999 was the last eclipse of that century, which moved from the Eastern United States, across the British Isles, through France and Iraq to complete its path in India. It created a dramatic Great Cross in the stable fixed signs of the zodiac, Scorpio, Taurus, Leo and Aquarius, all of which are found in the Book of Revelation, as the Angel (Aquarius), the bull (Taurus), the lion (Leo) and the eagle (Scorpio).

My wife Melissa and I traveled to visit relatives in Vienna, Austria, to see the total eclipse. I wrote at length that the areas where the eclipse touched would be torn apart by disaster and war, that this would be the beginning of the “Crucifixion” of humanity, and the “True Cross” within the hearts of all mankind.
So if we think in terms of what the cross symbolized, it was the way of pain and death into redemption for all and new life. The Tibetans ~call it the ultimate “Tong Len~”, or to take in and give out, in which Christ takes all the sin of the world upon himself, processes, transmutes and transmogrifies that negative energy through the meditation of the Violet Fire, and then gives His godly nature, all that is divine about Himself, back into the world. It is the ultimate message of Easter and The Passion.
The Great Cross in the sky occurred on the tzolkin day ~4 Ahau~. The ~Mayan Long Count was began in the year 3114 BC~. If we focus on these coincidences we may be alerted, not only to the increasing relevance of the Mayan calendar in the years ahead, but also to the Return of the True Cross.

On January 4, 1999 began the creation cycle of ~13 tun~, 360-day periods, designed to lead to the completion of the ascension of humanity to a time-less cosmic consciousness and currently we are in the beginning of the first of these tuns of setting seeds for the future (among the Maya the tun, ~the 360-day year~, rather than the solar year of 365 days, was the prophetic year). Seeds are now set in a multitude of ways for what is to follow in the progression of these thirteen tuns.
A seed is set by some now beginning to use the Mayan calendar as a map of time for Revelation and another seed is set for the coming emergence of Christ consciousness, a galactic Christ consciousness, that will be carried by the True Cross. The two, the Mayan calendar and the return of Christ consciousness, are related and in a much more exact way than most people probably realize today.

Not many are yet aware that the Mayan calendar is a calendar of the divine plan, something entirely different from an astronomical calendar. The Return of Christ Consciousness, that is to say the Apocalypse, is intimately linked to the Return of the True Cross.

But the True Cross is not a cross of planets or any other physical, astronomical, objects, but a cross that will dominate not only our own individual minds, but also the entire planet and the galaxy. It is a cross that exclusively exists in the invisible universe but yet will completely dominate the course of events in our earthly reality. This is a cross of Yin/Yang dualities that will provide us with an entirely new framework for viewing the world around us.

Although non-physical by nature it will be visible to some as an inner cross or as a cross in the sky, the Star of Bethlehem. This Holy True Cross will increasingly make its presence known at ~tuns 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11 and 13~ of the Galactic Creation Cycle that has just began. Since the tuns with these particular numbers represents the periods of the greatest moves forward in a spiritual sense, the pulses of light, the days in the divine creation scenario of Seven days and Six nights, which will now begin to alternate every 360 normal days.
In the past during days 1, 3 and 5 (corresponding approximately to the years 1999, 2001 and 2003) our materialist consciousness continued to dominate over the True Invisible Cross, whereas during days 9, 11 and 13 the roles will become reversed, with the most important breakthrough of the new galactic Christ consciousness taking place in ~day 9~, corresponding approximately to the year 2007.
In ~day 7~ (the year 2005) the True Cross reaches a balance with our current materialist consciousness. The map of time thus created is given by the ~Mayan calendar through the~ ancient tzolkin count developed through an advanced resonance with the cosmos. In my view, what the Great Cross during the solar eclipse in the first of these Seven tuns of light heralds is the Invisible True Cross that this divine scenario of creation carries. The incarnation of this True Cross among human beings is what will give rise to the new consciousness of Christ.

The ~new reversed Yin/Yang polarity~ is what will give rise to a new way of viewing the world and relating to it. In this emerging Yin/Yang duality the East and the West will switch places, so that the light will now fall on the Eastern, wholeness directed, hemisphere. On an individual level the divine light will favor the right, female, brain half and the qualities associated with this, in women and men alike.

In all of my Spiritual Remote Viewing seminars I first teach the differences between the right and left hemispheres of the brain. That we are two brained, bi-cameral beings. In fact the real mystery is how we evolved an organ that we don't know how to work and that we only use ten percent of. The left hemisphere, which is cross-wired to control the right side of the body, can be related to the “Western Mind”, in that it only exists in a realm that it BELIEVES is reality. It is dominant, masculine and aggressive.

A four-dimensional world of height, width, breadth and time.

All it is good for is measuring things in a straightforward, linear fashion of what it thinks is time. It uses the five senses of the body to gather information (how far, how high, what color, taste and smell) and then uses that information to make judgments of good or bad. First theory, then antithesis and finally synthesis. In Western science we only know the universe around us through what our machines tell us, and the better the machines get, the more of the universe we see. It is all geometry and mathematics.

The right side of the brain, controlling the left side of the body, is passive, feminine and submissive. It relates to the “Eastern Mind” of thought, meditation and experience. It has no conception of math, it can't add 2+2, does not even understand up, down, right or left. It is designed for outer space. This side of the brain thinks in terms of pictures, symbols, archetypes, color, emotions and music. It is believed that the superior anterior (right, back) section of the brain is where psychic power and intuition exists, because this part of the brain functions in a quantum reality where there is no linear time.

The past, present and future are all the same to it. It can sense when certain events are going to occur, and then tries to communicate that information to the “Conscious” side of the brain through dreams (symbols, archetypes, pictures) when it is asleep and its guard is down.

It is this part of the brain that we have now managed to tap into so successfully with Remote Viewing techniques, and especially with my system which is a combination of Western science and Eastern meditation and exercises.
This new Yin/Yang polarity maintained by the True Cross will amount to a new morality that bases itself on a larger perspective. What effects our actions may have on the larger whole, as this is the perspective of the right brain half that is now to be favored. This emerging holistic morality, and the actions and ways of being that will stem from it is none other than the Returning Consciousness of Christ, and this returning consciousness will then be incarnated in any human being who chooses to let this happen. Maybe this is the true Resurrection as well.
If we choose to become carriers of this new Christ consciousness what can we do to make this happen? We may of course continue along old lines and just practice the morality that we may have intellectually assimilated from the Gospels, but since this would not necessarily lead to an immersion of the new ways of thinking by our entire being it may falter as we encounter obstacles.

Another way would seem to be to seek, through meditation, to put ourselves in resonance with the new Yin/Yang duality and then as a result, become incarnations of the new consciousness in a complete sense of the word.
It is also what the Age of Aquarius is all about. We are now officially standing on the threshold, with one foot in and one foot out. The Grand Man walks across the Milky Way, and tips the great cistern filled with consciousness and bathes us. The WATER is symbolic of this.

Even the symbol for Aquarius is squiggly lines of electromagnetic force. And of course the consciousness is that of ONENESS with all beings, selflessness and COMMUNITY and FAMILY coming first. This is where the Venus passages come in, and especially the first one occurring during seven hours on June 8, 2004.
Venus is the female planet of Love and Mars is the masculine planet of War and Hate. We are of course smack dab between them. Is it any wonder that these are the two most powerful forces on Earth? Love and War? During the Venus passage the planet will pass across the disk of the sun and create an eclipse, and by its very nature it provides an ideal Cosmic Mirror. A Cosmic Mirror, held up for us by Venus herself, for our own aspirations of developing a consciousness of Christ. While prayer is all about TALKING to God, meditation is all about LISTENING to God.
This is a meditative event and about listening to the new message, the new imprint of the Cross, and to God's guidance for developing a consciousness of Christ.

The Venus passage of June 8, 2004, occurring shortly before the True Cross will become powerful enough to balance our present materialist consciousness, will thus by its very astronomical nature allow meditators to effectively assimilate the True Cross in their consciousness, the new Yin/Yang duality favoring a wholeness-oriented creativity and morality, favoring the consciousness of Christ.
To alert people to this unique opportunity to have the consciousness of Christ incarnate among us human beings is thus a crucial task of the present. We may do this by disseminating information about the importance of the meditation of June 8, 2004, but we may also do this by organizing yearly meditations on June 6 (which is the date of the second in this pair of Venus Passages occurring in the year 2012).

The reward for this will be purely spiritual and lies in the joy of having contributed to the emergence of a new human being, a human being who looks for the best of all and to serve the planet and God's creation in its entirety.

There is a story in the Talmud about a king who became very angry at his son.

The king ordered that his son be crushed under a huge stone. But the prince appeared before his father, admitted his mistake and repented before the kingdom. He wept at the king's feet begging forgiveness, swearing that he had learned his lesson. The people were also moved and a great roar went up that he should not be put to death. This softened the king's heart and he took pity on his son. But his word was law which he could not go back on. He had already made his pronouncement and he could not be forsworn.

On February 24th, 1987 the light from a supernova which exploded 160,000 years ago in the satellite galaxy of our Milky Way known as the Large Magellanic Cloud, became visible from Earth. A supernova is basically an exploding super-hot star, usually a “Red Giant”. But in this case it was a gigantic BLUE STAR, much older, hotter and far more powerful.
This super-giant BLUE STAR, inside what is called the Tarantula Nebula, exploded and then imploded into a very dense neutron star called a PULSAR. When stars become pulsars, it radiates energy at precise intervals.

The star either pulses like a heart or SPINS, with the radiation coming out only one side like a fantastically huge light house keeping ships off the cosmic rocks. This supernova, which made the front covers of every science magazine and newspaper at the time, was named SN (Supernova) 1987-A.

It went on to exhibit such unusual traits that it is currently under intense scrutiny by the world astronomical and scientific community.

The US, Japan and Russia recorded bursts of neutrinos in deep underground sensors at the same time the supernova was observed. Neutrinos are massless neutral particles that travel at the speed of light.

Our Earth was bathed, in fact saturated, down to its very core in this energy, affecting every man, woman and child and every part of the ecological food chain.
Since we rarely observe a supernova, and this one seemed to fit in with the Hopi prophecies of a BLUE STAR which would be seen before the beginning of the great changes, Bible Code researcher Joseph Noah searched the code to see if this radiation had some impact on our body frequency.

Opening for neutrality - I love Taylor, I don't love this song. This is my reading of the Fortnight clip and how it relates to poetry and writing, specifically with reference to Mary Shelley's 'Frankenstein'.
So Mary Shelley was the tragic, trail-blazing author of Frankenstein. In this video, I feel like Swift is a mix of Shelley and Frankenstein’s monster. If you don’t know the novel, please read a summary, or this won’t make sense. This has nothing to do with the movies.

I HAVE THE ANSWER I SWEAR. This is a wild ride. This clip channels the life of Mary Shelley, the tragic, trail-blazing author of Frankenstein. In this video, I feel like Swift is a mix of Shelley and Frankenstein’s monster. If you don’t know the novel, please read a summary, or this won’t make sense. This has nothing to do with the movies. This might jump around between the clip and reality but I don’t have the words to articulate clearly:
Real life Mary Shelley story, abridged: Around 1825/30 - Young Mary has an affair with a man named Percy. They marry. He is a famous poet. Percy Shelley becomes friends with Lord Byron, also a famous poet. Byron’s comment about ghost stories. This leads to Mary writing Frankenstein. So now Mary and Percy are both writers. Mary and her husband lost three children - one named CLARA. There is a bunch of cheating. Jump forward a whole lot to when Mary was 27, when Percy dies by drowning. After his death, she was responsible for collecting his many unpublished poems to create his (wait for it…) ANTHOLOGY. Bonus theory - Taylor was going to name her child Clara.
Now to the video/Mary Shelly/Frankenstein’s monster brainsplosian: 1830 is Victorian era. This is highlighted by the styling. Note the wedding dress Taylor wears at first, with Victorian choker, and then the change to the Victorian mourning dress (which were traditionally worn by wives when they lost their husbands). At 1:55 the papers they lay on form a cameo (traditionally a profile of a woman’s face on a brooch). This is a woman who has lost the love of her life.
The world between Post Malone (Percy) and Swift (Mary) has them both as writers who create a world through their writing.
Malone as part of the experiment room casts him somewhat as the Victor Frankenstein (who created the monster), making him the architect of her fall.
The mountain/phonebooth scene seems to reference particularly specific (and famous) imagery of “the perpendicularity of the mountain… a scene terrifically desolate… while rain poured from the dark sky”. At 3:24, Malone’s distorted face mimics the grotesque and disjointed nature of the monster, which Shelley described as ‘contorted’. He is dark and she (the dress) is light - themes which take a primary role in the book. She is, however, also the ‘monster on the hill’ (Antihero). In this same section of the book, the monster reflects on how his existence itself drives everyone away - even those who made him how he is: “all men hate the wretched; how, then, must I be hated… you, my creator, detest and spurn me”.
Phew! But wait, there’s more.
Fire-motif-a-palooza time! A primary theme in Frankenstein is fire. At 3:39, Taylor is Mary, having lost her husband, alone with their words - his words - swirling around her and burning. So their life is going up in flames, she is being surrounded by his poetry, and to top it off, in the book, the monster uses fire to destroy himself. In another scene, when the monster is freezing, he finds a fire: ‘In my joy I thrust my hand into the live embers, but quickly drew it out again with a cry of pain. How strange, I thought, that the same cause should produce such opposite effects!’ If you look at the opening closing ‘The end’ slides, the corners of the framing look like flames.
Finally, the mirror. When Swift leaves the bed in the opening, she studies herself in the mirror, as if she has to look to check what she is. The mirror comes back up at the end and Taylor is here to FUCK THAT THING UP. Can we just appreciate her physical strength in this shot? In the book, the monster’s ‘moment of truth’, where he comprehends himself as the cause of his own isolation, is when he sees a reflection: “At first I started back, unable to believe that it was indeed I who was reflected in the mirror: and when I became fully convinced that I was in reality the monster that I am, I was filled with the bitterest sensations of despondence and mortification.”

The government has an excuse: they're protecting the status quo by allowing it to continue
The businesses have an excuse: they're selling people whatever they want, within the law
The people have no excuse: it is their job to determine the status quo. What they say goes. Business and government responds to them. If the people stop buying it, the businesses fold and the government protects the people. If the people buy something legal, the government protects both the businesses and the people over it. If the people vote for something, the government protects the people over it.

"The point is: it's a conversation starter about how seriously we should all take environmentalism, giving one great reason for any atheist and one great reason for any religious person. The post was intended to confuse the two topics, as if apparently I myself was confused, to get you all to pounce all over me, which you did, and tear me this way and that sort of, thinking I was telling you to be religious. I wasn't. What I was saying was, and I'll start over now that you get it:
This is about Environmentalism.
There's two kinds of people on this planet; therefore there's two kinds of people who need to be convinced to take Environmentalism more seriously: both of them (there's religious people and there's non-religious people, when it comes to Planet Earth).
People do things well when they're convinced of a good reason to be doing it.
Reasonings: (Best reasonings I can come up with for both parties, at all, possible:)
Non-religious people: Probability is statistics; you have to have something you can count- no one's ever found or seen an alien- and yes, we are certain of this, if you're a roswell/maybe-the-government-has-aliens believer (it's all been debunked, all of it). Nobody has ever seen an alien on or from planet Earth. If there were intelligent life with thumbs out there, it probably would do things similar enough: it would make itself, unintentionally, a sort of obvious beacon in outer space: it would emit radio signals for example after making the same physics discoveries (we can assume physics are the same wherever you are). very old civilizations would have larger examples of this. ya know seti never found anything either? the "wow" signal was inconclusive. that's it; there was no sky full of alien beacons. Now, we can deduce at times whether a far-away planet has methane in the atmosphere, but there's a chance that that doesn't mean life. It might mean life. You can't confirm that through a telescope. We might be right around the corner from discovering basic animal life with some of our missions. The Mars rock with the worm-like things I think was inconclusive actually? But we're going to a moon in our solar system that could potentially have life... Anyway we haven't gone yet. Today you can say this, relevant to environmentalism: as far as any atheist has proof of, it is the greatest crime ever conceived of to do anything to damage all at once the fragile ecosystem of this, the only place in the Universe that has ever been discovered to have life on it. It's a crime with proportions that are at present mutliplied by the entirety of the Universe: there's only one rock with life on it, as far as we know, out of all the Universe's rocks (planets)???? Well, that's how big the crime is. You're damaging the only place with life on it. The crime of doing that is Universe-sized.
Reasonings for religious people: (Ahem) I believe I'm pretty sure that you believe as stated that GOD created this, the ONLY planet in all of time and reality with any life on it at all, and that this all was just as a special treat for you, proudest of all of God's creations, that you, would inherit this all, and, by default, act as its shepherd? Have you upheld such bargain and is God pissed or will be? I heard God has Hell in wait for those who displease?"
The above show my whole position on something like a basic reasoning system that comes out equal on convincing both the religious and the non-religious, using "the stick". I think these are the two most compelling reasons to hold any atheist or any religious person to, because, at times, the stick speaks louder than the carrot to us all.
However, more often, the carrot motivates, because, we like it that way. We'd prefer to do something we want for something we want, not to avoid something we don't want. Although, when you put it that way, isn't it equal philosophically? Isn't avoiding something you don't want just as cheery as obtaining something you want? I don't care, but I'd rather give them two reasons, for redundancy: stick and carrot.
The carrot goes like this:
Atheist: Don't you want a beautiful world?
Religious: Don't you want to go to heaven?
And can be combined as follows: wouldn't both of you like and want a heaven-like world?
Starting there, you have your orders. March.
The disbelievers must get convinced. Be religious about it. This is a religious movement: nothing is more religious than saving the world; I don't care what you believe in. When people talk vaguely of (whatever their myth is): forget that. There's this. There's saving the world in 2024, as an Earth-human.
All of us share a tradition that goes back 13,000 years: the building of stone and the writing of writing.
It is because we have thumbs and it is because we have vocal cords that we are different from the animals. Otherwise we're animals. Same brains. Same eyes.
We have the unique gift of communication and of construction. Therefore it is to us to organize and to enact. We are the shepherds of this planet. I don't care what you heard; throw that book away. This is now and this is true. Observe these comments, are they not wrong?
What we did with our thumbs and with our vocal cords: we tested science until it was right and then we told our others about it.
Now we have things like space shuttles that work, computers that work, and climate/pollution analyses that are not wrong.
Look at the fools who pick one over the other, and say "I believe in the existence of the space shuttle, I know that this computer works, and I think that the science is wrong on global warming!"
Creatures of comfort! For the space shuttle brings them pleasure to know about and the computer brings them pleasure to use and the environment brings them great displeasure because they would have to give up their gas-powered car today and they're not even personally on fire yet from overheating! So, eager to repel the effort, they accuse the science there of being wrong! Well, let the space shuttle come crashing down from the sky (two of them did- not because of the magic of those who naysayed the shuttle program, as this person would have the climate movement naysayed), and let this very computer that they are working on come crashing to a halt right underneath their fingers (but it is for the efficacy of science likely that it doesn't), but nay, their climate-movement feelings are wrong.
It is wrong to say let us forestall the climate movement or allow the continuance of our ways.
But don't take my word for it, and let them not suffer mine either. Take the science to them, right to them.
The next effort is, after you've understood the rest:
Do you, personally, understand the science of it, and can you explain it off the top of your head?
Here's a sample effort at doing that:
Most people aren't scientists, don't care for it, don't need to know about it. That's fine. What little they get told informs them thereafter. They hear, we breathe oxygen and spit out co2? Great, they probably think air means: 50% oxygen, 50% co2. Ultimate way to take their pants off without them knowing? Just tell them that the air's only 1% co2 anyway. All this fuss is over going from 1% to 2%. Fastest way to make any one of them turn off the "climate news".
Here's how it really works: air is mostly stuffing actually, we don't use most of it. Air is mostly nitrogen, about 70%. What's the nitrogen for? nothing. Nothing uses it. It's just stuffing. It's fair to say "air is nitrogen", that's how much nitrogen is in it.
About 20% of air is oxygen, that's the part that we use. But it's only about 20% of it! You don't need much oxygen. To breathe, you mix a little bit of oxygen (you only need a little at a time), with a bunch of just stuffing basically, and then you pressurize it, because you exist at pressure. Now you have your special air-breathing-mix-product. Yes, you breathe out co2- but there's not much of that in the air. The remaining 10% of air is random different gases. Like 1% (I'm making very broad generalizations by the way to make this easy to memorize) like 1% of the air is co2, and a little bit of the air is methane (like .5% let's say?). Okay so why all this fuss about co2 and methane, if really the air is like 70% nitrogen, 20% oxygen, and then of a remaining 10%, the air is like 8.5% random gases, .5% methane, 1% co2?
Because, and I'm going to make an analogy very similar to the one about your breathing, wherein just a little bit of oxygen in the air does all the feeding of your cells that you need:
The thing about the air is, most of the gases in it don't really trap heat. In fact, only a few of them trap heat well: co2 and methane for example (and suflyr flouryl or something they use in termite spraying? I just learned about this one but the main two are still co2 and methane). Co2 traps heat well because it has carbon in it. You know what carbon is, right? Gather enough of it together and it's black stuff that traps heat real well in the sun. Separate it out enough and it's a transparent gas that does the same thing still; the carbon absorbs infrared light from the sun and gets hot. Methane and the other greenhouse gases do the same thing I guess, but I think the above example works well enough for co2. You can help refine this section if you can think of ways to explain it better; we all need to have "the story straight" when it comes to explaining this to others.
So, the reason a little bit of gas that traps heat well is a problem is that that's the only gas in the air at all that traps heat, relatively. You shine a light through the air and it gets hot? That's only cause of the 1.5% of gases in it that trap heat at all. You remove those and the air would go cold. You double those and theoretically the air would go twice as hot. Now, it's not quite like that, actually, not by a longshot even. It's more like: you remove those and the air goes a little colder; the rest of it does trap heat a little, just not as much as certain gases. You double those gases, and the air traps heat a little more, cause it's still a small amount of gas we're talking about in there. Anyway, we have like doubled the co2 already (Keeling Curve is the name of the graph/study: should be like 200-260ppm we're at like 420+. I'm trying to write this all off the top of my head as an example, because you need to be able to do at least as much in conversation), and the temperature is climbing, and the co2 we're adding and the temperature climbing are like identical rises graphically; we're raising the temperature, mostly by burning fossil fuels constantly.
It makes sense if you think of what you're not seeing when you use cars. All that fire is contained under the hood and then filtered by the system, such that exhaust looks clear.
But you know what a fire looks like, gasoline or otherwise. When there's an open fire in your town, the smoke column reaches up into the heavens all day and is visible.
Well, that's what traffic "looks like", and you just don't see it. Imagine if every car-fire (the fire in the engine under your hood) was visible? Just cars with like open barbeque fires in the front sections, driving around, with big black columns of smoke rising up from each all day? All the highways of the world would look like solid black smoke columns all day long.
Well, that is how they look. Sorta. You just have to use your mind to see it. Ha. Okay now,
Look at the Earth sideways real good. What I mean by that is, look at one of those satellite-going-over-the-horizon photos that show you just how thin you can get Earth's atmosphere to look, at night. That's how thin it is. You know what I mean? You're used to thinking of the sky as voluminous, but if you get up high enough, you can see that Earth just has a little bitty bit of sky attached to it at all, just like a fingernail of air; there's barely any air there actually it's very thin.
So, you put those two together (you know what all-day fires look like and you know what the actual thinness of Earth's atmosphere looks like from space) well, you can just see it: we really can and really have f---ed with it. There wasn't that much to begin with and we filled it with exhaust since a hundred years ago. There's not many humans covering the Earth? Okay but look at those spots where there are humans- each one of those has been emitting a constant fire 24/7-
Okay? Now I see great things for us: look at us, the ants who learned how to seize control of the entire thing, proving control of it so far only by screwing it up: our great act of proving ourselves to be in control of the planet so far has only been in terms of us showing our f---ing-it-up ability: we got the air to turn bad a little.
Now, let's show our second great act of geo-control. Let's undo that that we just did. The second act. Once we demonstrate that we will have demonstrated control of this planet. I set this challenge before all of us.

we know that nol gets scars from the fall with the chandelier and that he tattoos them in the time skip. what the tattoo is i am not sure of but i know many people are speculating a phoenix as he metaphorically 'rises from the ashes' with his rebirth arc + most of what we've seen of the tattoo looks to be feathers.
however, the shards from the chandelier would surely leave scars that are almost striped ... and nol is repeatedly called 'tiger'... so for him to cover those scars with ink would make him a ginger with black stripes... like a tiger. this honestly doesn't have any symbolic meaning and its quite silly but it also really got me thinking of just how similar nol can be to a tiger figuratively and not just physically.

Nol: “The Tyger" by William Blake
I remember studying a poem in school called ‘the tyger’ which questions why a benevolent god would create evil in this world. the title is obviously the same as nol’s nickname, but once the words and meanings of the poem are dissected, you can really see the similarities between the two. in this case, the god is yui — the creator of the evil within the tiger — and the tiger is none other than nol.
  • ‘What immortal hand or eye Could frame thy fearful symmetry?’ (…)
  • ‘What immortal hand or eye
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?’
the first stanza is repeated once more at the end poem, except for the one sneaky switch of the word ‘could’ to ‘dare’. before this switch, the speaker shows disbelief at the power someone has to make such a creature but the by the final line of the poem, they are no longer doubtful. the same way nol sees yui for who she truly is and the cruelty she has exercised on him, the speaker is questioning what kind of a person the creator is to create something that evil. ‘hand or eye’ could also be an allusion to either god or satan as it is not specific, and we know that nol definitely does not see yui as an all-loving god + the zooming in only on certain features adds to the mystery of the creator … we never get to see yui fully, which is why we don’t understand her motivations.
ALSO! the repetition funnily makes the whole poem symmetric, but because of that one single word change, it shifts the perspective. this is applicable to nol as his birth name is nol, went by yeonggi for a time, but is now nol again; however, he is not the same nolan that he was before because his perspective of himself has changed. so the symmetry is still slightly off! i discuss his name in relation to the poem a little later!
  • ‘Burnt the fire of thine eyes? On what wings dare he aspire?’
nol has continuously been associated with light, but has been placed in shadows the same way the tiger is burning bright in a dark forest (‘Tyger Tyger, burning bright, in the forests of the night’). shinae describes him as the sun, and kousuke even admits he tries to ‘extinguish his light’, but with scenes such as the interview with yujing and the conversation between nol and kousuke before his japan trip (episode 120) he is deliberately, physically placed in the shadows instead.

these lines specifically are rich with allusions to greek myths. the ‘fire’ that is consistently mentioned links back to prometheus who tricked the gods, particularly zeus, stealing fire and giving it to humanity. however, prometheus was not rewarded for his ingenuity but was condemned to eternal punishment… ‘the wings’ could also possible be an allusion to daedalus, who was an inventor who made wings for his son, icarus, to fly. linking yui to daedalus, who was able to create something beyond mankind’s abilities, illustrates the immense power that she carries that can’t be understood completely. the difference between icarus and daedalus is that icarus, therefore nol, are brave and were defiant like any teenager. daedalus/yui learnt self-control but are still insecure and envious of others, too. the similarities between them are that both daedalus and icarus disregarded authority — the same way yui works around legal parameters and nol defies the older figures in his life. however, with these two myths applicable to the yui/nol dynamic, it is unsettling that both of them end with the death or punishment of the younger due to the defiance against the older, authoritative figures. we already know nol’s lucky number, 4, means death.
  • ‘What the/ hand*, dare/* seize the/ fire*?’*
this is more english analysis but in this line specifically the final syllable is stressed and the meter is incomplete. the almost perfect trochaic tetrameter (notice how the line is split into four sections) with a catalectic feature (ending with an incomplete foot) is unsettling - a deliberate decision made by the poet to disrupt the rhythm the same way yui’s ‘seizing’ disrupted nol’s adolescence and life as a whole. it is also so curious because it is theorised yui DID ‘seize the fire’ with the burns on her hands in this panel … and this event was the beginning of the corruption for nolan. however, this is not really confirmed yet so we have to wait and see if they actually are burns!

  • ‘What the hammer? what the chain,
In what furnace was thy brain?’
the ‘forging’ of the tiger suggests a very physical, laborious, and deliberate kind of making, illustrating how nol’s evil is not innate but a product of continuous harm from yui. blake is building on the conventional idea that nature must in some way contain a reflection of its creator. the tiger is strikingly beautiful yet also horrific in its capacity for violence, a familiar description for yui. this idea is seen in the recent timeline too, because we are beginning to see just how much nol is beginning to mirror yui. there’s also this industrial lexical field which i can’t help but link back to nol coming from a family of mechanics.
back to name analysis … the title of this poem warrants confusion because blake wrote it as tyger with a y instead of tiger with an i. this only prompts me to think of how nol ended up choosing the name ‘yeonggi’ during his time away, which coincidentally starts with ‘y’ as well. it could be argued that it is spelt ‘tyger’ because in england at the time, ’tyger’ was a relatively old but still valid way of spelling it — however, blake’s other works have the noun spelt as ‘tiger’ so it is no coincidence. It was an intentional decision, the same as nol’s choice of his name change.
  • ‘Did he who made the Lamb make thee?’
the lamb is the opposite of the tiger. soooo if the speaker challenges the bravery and might of god, questioning beliefs rather than blindly following them, i wonder who the opposite of that could possibly be…
Kousuke: “The Lamb”, the Sister Poem
‘the tyger’ is featured in blake’s songs of experience, but it has a counterpart known as the songs of innocence: in it, ‘the tyger’’s sister poem, ‘ the lamb’, is found… you can see where I’m going with this. rather than questioning god’s nature and power like the tiger, ‘the lamb’ is a poem that praises it. in the actual poem, the lamb is a symbol of Jesus, but obviously as i am talking about i love yoo, the lamb could be none other than kousuke.
Jesus is the son of God — kousuke is the son of yui.
we know yui is not an all-loving god that is portrayed in the poem, so this idea of innocence can also be viewed as a tainted version.
Bowing down to his 'god' as the loyal servant.
  • ‘He is called by thy name,
For he calls himself a Lamb:’
up until this point in his life kousuke has depended on yui only, occasionally questioning her but almost never resisting her: he is the sacrificial lamb. yui capitalises off of kousuke to weaponise him against rand because if kousuke can become the CEO, as yui has said before, randulf will have to look up to him — and because she has been grooming kousuke from the start, he has become an extension of her. as a woman, yui does not have the power to become CEO, hence why she married rand in the first place, but if she can get kousuke to the top as quickly as possible, she can work through him sooner especially as a hirahara herself. in this quote, the child is stating how the lamb and god are one: kousuke and yui are one. rand sacrificed love for wealth, so yui’s revenge can be to rob him of that too, so that he is left with nothing. moving on from yui though, the sacrifice of the lamb in this case is kousuke’s agency: if yui can not control kousuke, she can not control the company.
  • ‘He is meek & he is mild,
He became a little child:’
the reason as to why yui can control kousuke the way she does is because of his innocence: this poem is a child’s song, in the form of a question and answer. my interpretation is that both the child and the lamb are kousuke. the lamb is who kousuke needs to be, the idealised version, and the child is still him because… he is still a child. to this day he harbours the same goals and motivations he did when he was a little kid: to take over rand’s position. that never changed, so we can assume his perspective didn’t change much either. his naivety is obvious throughout the series, especially with moments concerning rand where he panics and is visibly terrified. not to mention his unchecked temper. he has been sheltered his whole life apart from college, and that experience caused him to revert back to his old routine, so it is no surprise kousuke can be quite naive. the poem shows child’s innocent faith in god the way kousuke does for yui. she’s the only figure who didn’t abandon him, and is his own mother, so what reason would he have not to trust her?
  • ‘Softest clothing wooly bright,’
kousuke consistently wears white, notably at the christmas party and the formal. this plays into the chess theory that he is on the ‘white team’ with yui… he does ‘switch sides’ by wearing a black jacket but it was short-lived because by the christmas confrontation with nol, he is again wearing white. i am not too well-versed with the chess theory so i’ll focus on the interpretation that his white attire is his mask of apparent ‘goodness’ — kousuke does not ever think he is wrong because yui has manipulated him to believe he is the best, that love is not unconditional but earned, so he must be and is the greatest. kousuke’s paranoia has become more and more apparent as the series continues, with his breakdowns communicating that he believes he can never be to blame because he has to be perfect ... almost as if he is trying to be of “the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish” (1 Peter 1:19) he convinces himself of his innocence, and while I do believe inherently his character is, that is not the same perception of innocence that yui has made him now.

a scene that specifically comes to my mind is episode 212, when kousuke is confessing why he is the way he is — his sins — because he does this under the interrogative artificial light. he is looking up to a fake light, repenting to a false god. it is so tragic because even though he is trying here, his mindset and his words will never be completely honest because of how he has been conditioned for over 20 years. his version of good is not authentic because he’s been moulded to yui’s version of goodness: his perception of right and wrong has been so warped that he is seeking forgiveness from something inherently false. yui poses like a saviour but we know she is far from it. but anyway…
  • ‘Little Lamb God bless thee.

may kousuke always be in yui’s favour … as long as he remains her loyal and faithful son, he knows he will not have to endure the evil the other characters do at her hands. the poem almost reads as ironic when applied to kousuke’s case because it is an idealised version of the world he so desperately craves — there is no mention whatsoever of the corruptness god (yui) brings, because everything done by her is seemingly in his favour. This is why the existence of the tiger ruins everything for kousuke.
'The perfect vision I had of my life is false.'
the tiger wonders about the lamb (‘Did he who made the Lamb make thee?’) but the lamb omits the tiger entirely.
Yui: The Benevolent God
both of these poems assess god’s creation of their respective animals: how can the same person create the fearsome tiger but also the gentle lamb? some of these ideas can seem quite farfetched but with the introduction of the bible in the canon storyline, religious connotations are plausible. to the rest of the world, yui is an incredibly respectable woman but it is just a disguise that nol challenges and kousuke refused to acknowledge until now. nessa’s bible could have served as a reminder for rand that he must remain faithful to yui if he wants to be ‘saved’. after all it is a book about the joys received if aligned with god and the consequences of rebelling. it is nol who, in the eyes of yui, has rebelled — his mere existence is a threat to her goals — so it is no surprise that out of everyone, he is the one who has dealt with the most crap orchestrated by her. despite leopards and lions being mentioned in the bible, tigers never are: yui never predicted for nol to be a hindrance to her because nol was never supposed to be conceived. it is theorised yui had a hand in nessa’s passing, and we know she was involved with the situation at the party, both of nol’s situations with the police but also kousuke in college — her meddling snuffed out his newfound rebellious streak, making him return as her faithful soldier … she controls everything and everyone.
i also wanted to note the significance of nol the tiger being in the ‘songs of experience’ whilst kousuke the lamb in ‘songs of innocence’, as these titles explain how yui managed to create these two as they are now. nol is on his path of destruction and retribution because of the experiences yui has orchestrated: the loss of his mother, his time at the mental facility, him missing his oxford interview and then going to jail… the list goes on. his issue tends to be his ‘violent’, physically aggressive nature. he is traumatised by what he has dealt with. on the other hand, kousuke is naive to these hardships so his corruption comes from the manipulation of his innocence: he did not have anyone else to look up to apart from yui, and her awareness of this turned him into the perfectionist we know. everything he believes about rand, his subconscious fear of nol and is his eagerness to succeed is because of the seeds of doubt yui planted in his vulnerable formative years. his aggression is verbal, veiled by the idea he is doing the ‘right thing’.
In Conclusion…
despite these poems not giving any insight or hints into the future for the two brothers, it is still immensely interesting how well these poems apply to them. ‘the tyger’ was written five years after ‘the lamb’, just as nol was born five years after kousuke… just as nol’s destructive transformation truly began five years after he got out of the mental facility and kousuke’s innocence begins to unravel. despite the lamb's religious connotation and comparison to Christ, the tiger is not substituted for the devil or the anti-christ. Instead, both the creatures are used to reflect god’s nature. yui is, and has always been, omnipresent, with the two brothers being her creations.

MORE RANTING: my speech was definitely different than everyone else’s, i didn’t want to make a typical speech reminiscing on high school experiences and kissing the school’s ass for how awesome and amazing it was. I wanted to also touch those who didn’t get to have a good experience or were as involved in the culture; I talked about the future and it used pop culture references, but I don’t know WHYY it didn’t get picked :(
SPEECH:
Good evening, members of the faculty, friends, family, members of this graduating class- It is an honor and a privilege to be standing in front of you all tonight.
I don’t know if you know me but, hey! I’m [Wooptopia] we’re also graduating high school together!
Maybe I could send you off with some speech with a bunch of big words you’ve probably never heard of, but I don’t want to do that.
Instead, I hope you walk out of this building feeling like this was somewhat of a heart to heart conversation than a typical speech.
There’s few of you that felt like high school was a breeze, [pause] while some of you struggled to wake up day to day to come here. [pause] No matter which part of that spectrum you are, I am proud of you. I am proud of those who’ve shed blood, sweat, and tears to be where they are today. And For those whose biggest challenge was to get out of bed and gather the strength to come to school, I want you to know that I’ve been where you were and you are seen and I am proud of you.
I know some of you may feel scared right now, or you haven’t even registered yet that this is it. That this is the moment you begin to enter the real world. For those who still feel mentally 16 right now, you’re not alone; believe it or not, I can guarantee that some of your parents and teachers feel like a teenager in a grown person’s body- It’s also their first time going through life too.
The world can be a scary place. It can be hateful, filled with pain, sorrow, and the unknown. We as a human race have survived wars, diseases, violence, and tummy aches. But where would the value in human life go if we didn’t feel pain? To be in a world where we are told of all the answers would defeat the purpose of living.
Think of it this way; you’re playing Super Mario Bros except you have to jump over one ledge to save Princess Peach. Would you want to play it if there was no risk? No setbacks and failures along the way? Probably not. If life were like that, you would never get to experience that sense of pride and triumph in the end knowing that it was you who survived and prevailed through it all, PAUSE and I think those kinds of journeys are one of the most beautiful aspects of the human experience.
Even at times you’re frozen in fear, fear of the unknown, if you look around you, you can still lean on the people who love you. [PAUSE] You can still draw that strength and courage from them when you can’t seem to find your own.
I'm not saying the meaning of life is to go through pain and suffering. [PAUSE] It is to take risks and achieve things beyond what you believe you are capable of doing. Not settling for the bare minimum. You’re controlled by the perception of yourself. Your biggest enemy is yourself despite what other people tell you.
14 years ago at 19 years old, Tyler the Creator would tell people he was gonna win a Grammy. He said people would tweet about how he would never be able to do it, except he’d like those tweets anyway because he KNEW he was gonna win a Grammy. He didn’t care what people thought because he trusted himself until he actually won one in 2020.
Even if people try to tell you you can’t do anything, what matters most is whether you choose to believe that and let it slow you down. If you’re taught that you can’t do anything, you won’t do anything. People like Tyler were taught they could do anything.
This generation has seen a lot and I believe you all have the power to be revolutionary. You have the power to change the world. To mold it. To change the notion that the world is a scary, evil place. Don’t be afraid to embrace that change. You all are such beautiful, capable people and you all deserve to be in a world of love, happiness, and kindness.
Before I leave, for those who’ve grown up playing Minecraft, I’d like to quote some of the 7 minute long poem called the “Credit Sequence”. Not only is it one of my favorite poems but it’s helped me at times I needed inner strength and resilience and I hope it somewhat resonates with you as you navigate through this new journey.
The universe says everything you need is within you.

Welcome back to another installment of “The Art Of” where we gush over and examine popular plot points and tropes in the Romance Genre.
This month, we’re looking at Vampires in the Paranormal Romance sub-genre!

With the recent re-emergence of vampires in romance novels, it seems like there’s no time like the present to look at this specific kind of paranormal romance. Vampires feel like a classic character when one thinks of paranormal romance - the OG Monster Romance, if you will. But to get to the modern Vampire Romance, we first need to do a little digging on the Vampire in literature as a whole.
The first gothic novel came out in 1764 (The Castle of Otranto), combining both elements of horror and romance, followed by Ann Radcliff in 1789 with The Mysteries of Udolpho. We then got Carmilla in 1871-1872, but it took us until 1897 to get Dracula by our pal Bram Stoker. While this was not the first vampire story - that award goes to The Vampyre, a poem by John William Polidori (1819), Dracula really brought vampires to the forefront of literature and gothic novels.
Now, Vampires are just existing in gothic novels for some time before Anne Rice comes onto the scene in 1973 with Interview with the Vampire, bringing the monster to a whole new audience and popularizing more than ever before. There was also a shifte here where “from the ’70s onward, “the vampire often appears as an attractive figure precisely because he or she is a vampire.”[3] Carter explains that this shift in vampire literature “reflects a change in cultural attitudes toward the outsider, the alien other.” (The Vampire in Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy; University of Melbourne)
We as a society get dabbles of fantasy romance through the late 70s and early 80s, but in 1987 we got our first supernatural creator as a romantic lead in The Ivory Key by Rita Clay Estrada. And then in 1997, Buffy the Vampire Slayer exploded onto our TVs and suddenly….vampires were hot. (Dates from Kiersten Fay’s blog!)
You know where this all is going. We’ve got to talk about Twilight.
While vampires up until the 2000s were having their little heyday thanks to Lestat, Spike, Angel and the likes of these undead heartthrobs, vampires came into their own as a staple of Paranormal Romance with Twilight by Stephanie Meyer and the character of Edward Cullen.
“About three things, I was absolutely positive. First, Edward was a vampire. Second, there was a part of him, and I didn’t know how potent that part might be, that thirsted for my blood. And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him.” - Bella Swan
Why is this sexy? Why did this sparkling vegetarian vampire do it for so many teenagers and young women? As one of those teenagers turned grown woman, I would love to know. The University of Melbourne argues that vampires appeal as a romantic lead because: “Crucially, just as the vampire is an outsider, so too is the heroine of the paranormal romance. Because of her own marginalised position, the heroine finds herself able to sympathise with, understand, and fall in love with the creature she should fear.” It is therefore that otherness that brings the Vampire and the human together and connects them, leading to a forbidden romance which is an aspect many, many, romance readers love. Also, with the book being a fantasy, the reader can fall into a world that isn’t their own, escaping the problems that plague them.
But thanks to Meyer and Edward Cullen’s sparkly ass, we as a society suffered (and I mean it) through many, many attempts by other authors to ride the coattails of Vampire Romance into publishing success. While some other series managed to do so - The Vampire Academy, The Sookie Stackhouse series, The Vampire Diaries, Immortals After Dark, The Black Dagger Brotherhood, and of course Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles - most have laid back down in the coffin and died. And that’s where vampire romances stayed through most of the 2010s.
But now - NOW MY FRIENDS! We are seeing a re-emergence of vampires as romantic leads as well as a broader scope of Paranormal Romance featuring any and all other monsters and cryptids one could think of as romance leads. While Paranormal Romance never died down as a genre, we’re seeing Vampire main characters and stories coming to the forefront.
