2024.05.14 01:57 Beeskow3000 Alternative to the A5X?

I really wanted to become a supernote user and have eagerly waited similar to most of you here for the release of the A5X2. Not because I really want to have the newest model, but because the production of the A5X was discontinued and there are virtually no used ones on the market where I live (Sydney, Australia). Furthermore, if they indeed do another open box sale of A5X they will most likely only deliver nationally in the US as last time and as written on their website.
With a severe lack of communication and a hinted delay of the release, I really don't know what to do, because I would like to get a supernote, but need it soon: at the end of Q3 I'll move back to Europe and want to digitise the essence of my tons of paper notes before going back and then would like it during lots of commuting in the beginning of my new job.
From other comments here, I guess many are in a similar situation, where they really want to buy their first e-note device, but are just disappointed by supernote and their intransparency.
In the absence of viable options to get a supernote A5, I tend to a remarkable 2 rather than one of the boox, because I really only want a note taking device and not a super functional tablet, but would really love the hyperlinks and functionality of the supernote (which, as I understand, boox also have to some degree). I am, however, also unaware to whether boox every resolved their violation of the GNU License and won't buy from them before that is not the case.
Is anyone here in the same boat and has recommendations or alternatives?

CMM.World & CMMTheology.org
The Great Harvest is here. Christ's Mandate for Missions and CMMTheology build strong, organic relationships globally as we worship, grow and equip together. Like Joshua and Caleb and the Apostle Paul, we see with faith what He sees in each person (to help each reach fullness), group (many streams and backgrounds in unity) and nations (sheep vs. goat nations). Our passion is to love, connect, equip and send with the simplicity, fullness, and power of the Gospel.
The Uncompromising Blissful Extravagance of His Presence! Inbox
By CMM.World CMMTheology.org - November 10, 2022
Dear Mighty One,
I see the Lord's eye upon us we discover by revelation the 'new thing' He is doing in our lives and of those of us who, beyond the present darkness, gaze into His eyes. The 'tuning fork' of Yahweh is orchestrating the sons and daughters of our living God in growing holy remnant unity to withstand as we stand with Him fearlessly in the boldness of the faith of God in this hour. Egypt is behind us, and the covenantal promises and prophetic words we have received (1 Tim. 1:18) empower us by His Holy Spirit to advance in warfare, humbly growing in the spirit of wisdom and revelation.

Yesterday as I encouraged some friends, I said, 'stay in the blissful extravagance of His presence.' Today I saw in Psalm 34 His eyes are upon us in vs. 8 & 9 and v:15 about the 'uncompromisingly righteous.' We are to be holy as He is holy. That leaves no room for any more compromise or seeking to please man or the traditions of men, being free of the fear of man, the religious spirit, and any demonic activity. We are seated in heavenly places with Christ Jesus. Lord, help us understand by revelation to walk in all the authority we have been given by Jesus Christ.
Psalm 34:8-9 'O taste and see that the Lord [our God] is good! Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man who trusts and takes refuge in Him. O fear the Lord, you His saints [revere and worship Him]! For there is no want to those who truly revere and worship Him with godly fear.'
v. 15 'The eyes of the Lord are toward the [uncompromisingly] righteous and His ears are open to their cry.'

By CMM.World CMMTheology.org - June 15, 2022

We are rejoicing! We just celebrated two of our six schools' graduations on June 4th in the US and June 11th in Ecuador and we thank the Lord for all He has done in their lives and will do in this new era. We honor the faith in action of each of the seventy-eight students (in the USA and Ecuador schools this year)of all ages and from different streams and backgrounds. We thank the Lord for the hunger, perseverance and faith to finish strong. Each one encountered the Lord in fresh new ways as their hunger and perseverance in faith reaped eternal change as evidenced in their dissertations and heavenly encounters. In the last few months we have graduated 196 students from our global schools. All glory to the Lord as we enter our 16th year of offering affordable, life changing accredited degrees around the world. Each year our school is led by the Holy Spirit to go higher and deeper in excellence in academic standards and spirit-led equipping in a truly experiential, interactive, a

Prophetic Encouragement for 2022 By Jorge Parrott (all scriptures NKJV) (Graphic art by Nancy G. Daniel) Despite the impending wars, division, chaos, calamity, and deceptive controls we hear the voice of our Lord at times speaking, or roaring, or whispering, and breathing on the sons of God. Are we listening yet? Heaven’s roar is clear to those with an ear to hear what the Spirit of the Living God is saying. This year holds untold opportunities, many answered prayers, and the cries of many hearts if we arise to walk obediently in His fullness, not growing weary in well-doing, nor fainting in the heat of this fiery battle. 2024.05.14 01:39 jesserobbins A historic product launch! Will Sonos triumph... or be historic like: New Coke, Jawbone, Rdio, Digg (*sigh*)

I have begun to view this through the lens of getting to watch a company (and individual leaders) I really respect make what may turn out to be a truly historic business mistake or triumph. I'm excited to be part of it! It is irritating that Sonos has done this in my home, with products I actually love. The upshot is, I am pretty confident this will turn into something others will have the opportunity to learn from. (Maybe even they can learn from it, if you they fast enough.)
What makes this a unique (and likely historically significant) mistake is that Sonos, who has extraordinary customer trust and goodwill, used that to do something that directly harms existing, installed, previously functioning customers, in their homes, with no action taken or required by the user to be affected. This is a luxury consumer appliance, not ad-driven business or something. Super sticky customer base. Impact is clearly widespread, although the most loyal customers with lots of equipment are likely disproportionately affected.
It's painful to see the years where Sonos has earned a much stronger market position also a somehow much weaker stock position relative to large companies that might have more of a "mistake budget". It's transparent to most people that they have a lot riding on upcoming releases. I have a lot of sympathy for Patrick and any CEO trying to hit numbers in hardware and beat the street's expectations. It's HARD. (it's in the name FFS.)
However, everything that has happened as part of this rollout has been an example of what not to do. Regardless of motivation or intention by Sonos, you have what are clearly a lot of customers who are feeling completely disempowered, disrupted, violated, and gaslit. You are quadrupling-down on this. From the outside, it looks completely insanity. (And, in the future, when we watch the documentary I doubt it will be portrayed as a moment of "courage". 🤣)
To that end, I was reminded of a few other are some other examples of historically bad product introductions that share common themes to this one. (note, I'm omitting ones that where people actually died like Boeing or the Ford Pinto):
New Coke (1985) - One of the most (in)famous examples is Coca-Cola’s introduction of "New Coke" which Coke itself calls "The Most Memorable Marketing Blunder in History. The company changed its original formula in an attempt to compete with Pepsi. The backlash from consumers was swift and fierce. Despite the negative response, Coke was initially reluctant to acknowledge their mistake. However, the continued public outcry forced the company to revert to the original formula, rebranded as "Coca-Cola Classic," just 79 days later.
Jawbone: The one that I fear is most relevant here is Jawbone - Jawbone, once known for its Bluetooth earpieces and fitness trackers. Their UP bands had high failure rates and syncing problems. These issues, combined with poor customer service responses to complaints and returns, led to customer dissatisfaction and alienation. Jawbone failed to and eventually went out of business in 2017.
Rdio: Rdio was a music streaming service that launched in 2010 but failed to compete effectively with Spotify and later Apple Music. Rdio made several platform updates that, rather than improving user experience, often removed liked features or made the interface less intuitive. This alienated users led to Rdio filing for bankruptcy in 2015. Its assets were eventually acquired by Pandora.
Digg: Digg was once a very popular social news website which predated Reddit. In 2010, Digg released a major update to its platform, referred to as "Digg v4," which drastically changed the site's user interface and core functionality. The update was intended to modernize the platform but ended up alienating its core user base who felt that the changes prioritized publisher content over user-curated content. The backlash was swift resulted to many people simply migrating to a little startup Reddit. The traffic decline was so significant that Digg never recovered and was sold in a fire-sale.
At this point, I'm at hoping that there is an internal document that was widely circulated and agreed to that says "We expect that, due to the current condition of the new release, there will be considerable backlash from our most valuable customers. We acknowledge that this release may irrevocably violate their trust, and we are willing to sacrifice every single one of those relationships and our existing goodwill if necessary to get this release out." If so, I hope that they are proven right!
Also, full disclosure, I bought a single share of Sonos stock last week to track how it goes.

2024.05.14 01:36 andrewtrentcurry New Drumline Cadence Book

Hey fellow drummers!
I recently released a drumline jam book for groups wanting new and diverse material for their games, pep rallies, etc…
The book has different genre inspiration, including Latin, funk, cheers, house, swing, middle eastern, dubstep, and more!
If you’re interested check out my website for more info: www.andrewtrentcurry.com
Several schools across the nation are already using it, and videos of performances and demonstrations are on the site as well. The books allows for all size groups and efficient learning with no bass splits allowing extra oomph in the stands. The different genres make the music stand out from the standard jig 2 beats everyone currently plays.
Have a good one!

2024.05.14 01:31 Indescision Facebook dating match using someone else's phone number, is this normal?

A guy I matched with has postponed our date twice now and it gave me a bad vibe. So, I went to look up his Facebook profile, but couldn't find it. (I'm guessing it's one of the empty ones.) I decided to look up the phone number he gave me in the national phone number website. It came up with someone else's name. I'm weirded out and wondering, is there a simple explanation for this? I'm inclined to block and move on, thoughts?

2024.05.14 00:21 Puzzlebrain21 Misrepresentation of Gaza's casualty stats by the MSM & Zios

Israeli media initiated claims that the international press picked up on which state that the UN seemingly halves/corrects Gaza death stats among women & children. This is a misrepresentation.
On May 6, 2024, the UN published data showing that 34,735 people had reportedly been killed in Gaza, including over 9,500 women and over 14,500 children. This data is the general consensus and has been widely reported. This data doesn't have a "identified as of Apr 30, 2024" section.
On May 8, the UN published data showing 34,844 people had reportedly been killed but it included a section below this number showing 24,686 fully identified as of Apr 30, 2024. Under this section, it lists 4,959 women, 7,797 children, 10,006 men and 1,924 elderly had been killed for a total of 24,686 dead.
UN spokesperson Farhan Haq told a daily briefing at the UN that the health ministry in Gaza recently published two separate death tolls – an overall death toll and a total number of identified fatalities. In the UN report, only the total number of fatalities whose identities (such as name and date of birth) have been documented was published, leading to confusion.
Two officials from the Palestinian Ministry of Health have told CNN that although the ministry keeps a separate death toll for identified and unidentified individuals, the total number of people killed remains unchanged.
The total number of dead also does not include the approximately 10,000 people who are still missing and trapped under the rubble.
Israel's war in Gaza is unprecedented and has been described as one of the deadliest & most destructive wars since WW2.
Israel has also been indiscriminately bombing Gaza aka adhering to their Dahiya Doctrine for revenge & bloodlust purposes.
Gaza is one of the densliest areas in the world packed with 2+ million ppl, 50% of whom are children.
In addition to the thousands who are missing, mass graves are turning up.
Even if we were to look at the 24,686 identified as of Apr 30, 2024 stat, it is still highly deadly & incomplete.
According to the May 8 data, 1,924 elderly, 4,959 women & 7,797 children have been killed as of Apr 30, 2024. This represents est. 60% of the dead who have been fully identified aka 60% of the dead are civilians out of 24,686 deaths.
Furthermore, the remaining est. 40% aka 10,006 are men. However, not every man/military age male in Gaza is a Palestinian resistance fighter. Therefore, at least a certain % of these dead men are civilians as well.
Going by the new May 8 data, nearly 7,800 dead children in 7 months of war means that Israel has killed on average 1,000+ Palestinian children per month.
Plus USA Today erroneously reported the following-
"But in updated data published two days later on May 8, the UN significantly reduced the figures to 4,959 women and 7,797 children among the 34,844 people reportedly killed in Gaza"
The updated figures of lower death counts among women & children are only accounting for the fully identified 24,686 deaths, not the actual total of 34,000+ deaths. Once you account for the remaining 10,000+ deaths & the 10,000+ missing, the number of women & children killed are sure to increase drastically.
Underneath the aforementioned paragraph, the same USA Today article quotes UN spokeswoman Eri Kaneko who pointed to an April 30 update by the Gaza Ministry of Health on the breakdown of the 24,686 fatalities for whom the ministry has complete details.
They added that "The Ministry of Health notes that the documentation process of casualties’ full identification details is ongoing"
Although it is alleged that the revised casualty figures originally appeared on the United Nations website, it was actually the Hamas run Palestinian Health ministry that revised the figures.
In April, the Gazan Health Ministry said through its Telegram channel it had incomplete data for 11,371 fatalities. A record is considered incomplete if identity number, full name, date of birth, or date of death is missing, the ministry noted in the report.
So Zios suggesting that Palestine manipulates death stats via inflation & it was the UN that "corrected/updated" it is erroneous
Of course Zios are exploiting this opportunity to discredit Gaza's genocide/stats and paint Israel in a positive light as if murdering nearly 8,000 children in 7 months is positive even if we were to use the new, incomplete data
I wonder how the Zios would react if someone denied the Holocaust or stated that far less ppl died during this tragic event?

2024.05.14 00:04 rainyspotter Where do I file a complaint about a safety issue for a baby’s toy? My son choked on a piece.

Hi, I did a shallow dive but I’m not sure where the ‘main’ path to notifying a company about a safety hazard is?
We were handed down a small play gym from brand Finn and Emma, a company that boasts having all natural products. It’s a simple wood construction with a couple of nuts and bolts. When it was given to us, I noticed the bolts were all a bit loose but thought NBD they must have been rough with it, I’ll tighten them all before giving to baby. So I made them super tight and put it in his pen.
Fast forward a couple of months, and today one of the sets of bolts came loose and my 10-month old nearly swallowed the piece. He was choking and I flipped him upside down and performed back thrusts, and luckily it came out after a few whacks. It’s a pretty large metal bolt and I’m so grateful it wasn’t swallowed.
Upon inspection (I’m an amateur carpenter) the pairing of this particular coupling nut and bolt is incredibly unsafe because it’s not a matching pair- the bolt “wiggles” in place even when threaded through, which means the size is incorrect and there is no tension to keep it in place. Over time (even though this toy was hardly ‘roughed’ around, only moved from place to place) the loose bolt threaded itself out of the coupling nut and fell out as two small metal pieces. I wasn’t even aware they had come loose until my son was choking on one.
They sell these things for $99 on their website. I will contact the company, but I don’t know if that’s enough, you know? I’m not mad and don’t want to shame them, I just do think they should issue a recall and fix the future play gyms because I mean, this isn’t a fluke, it’s an actual hardware error and a kid could die over this.
What do I do to be taken seriously in this matter? Is there a national toy recall agency or something where I can file a report?
Thanks for your help, other parents!
(By the way, if you’re wondering which product it is, here’s a link. If you have it in your home, please remove the bolts and replace with something else even if they seem tight because I promise you it is not the right fitting.)

No entanto, deixamos nossa posição clara.

2024.05.13 22:51 adventurepaul E-commerce Industry News Recap 🔥 Week of May 13th, 2024

Hi - I'm Paul and I follow the e-commerce industry closely for my Shopifreaks E-commerce Newsletter. Each week I post a summary recap of the week's top stories, which I cover in depth with sources in the full edition. Let's dive in...
___
STAT OF THE WEEK: Kohl's sales have shrunk by $2.3B since 2019. During that same period of time, the company lost 1.3M customers who no longer shop with the retailer.
___
BigCommerce is exploring a sale after attracting takeover interest, according to sources who chose to remain anonymous due to the confidentiality of the information. The sources said that BigCommerce asked investment bank Qatalyst Partners to solicit interest from potential buyers that include private equity firms, but that the discussions are at an early stage and no deal is certain.
___
Squarespace announced that it will be going private in a $6.9B all-cash deal with private-equity firm Permira, who agreed to pay $44 per share (a roughly 30% premium). Although Squarespace never lost 90% of its share price like BigCommerce, it has experienced a tumultuous time on the market since its IPO in May 2021 — opening around $49.50 and at times trading in the low $20s. Shares rose nearly 13% to $43 in pre-market trading upon release of the news.
___
ByteDance filed a lawsuit in US federal court seeking to block the new law that would force the sale or ban of the app within the country. The lawsuit challenges the law on constitutional grounds, also citing commercial, technical, and legal hurdles, as well as opposition from Beijing. Legal experts say the legal battle will play out in the courts in coming months and likely will reach the Supreme Court.
___
OpenAI unveiled its newest model, GPT-4o, designed to turn ChatGPT into a digital personal assistant that can engage in real-time, spoken conversations and interact with users using text, screenshots, photos, documents, and charts. The new version of ChatGPT also has memory capabilities, which means it can learn from previous conversations. It will be available to both unpaid and premium customers alike. OpenAI also announced that it would be launching a desktop app with the GPT-4o capabilities, giving users another platform to interact with the technology outside of a web browser.
___
Amazon launched in South Africa last week, marking its first marketplace in sub-Saharan Africa, and bringing its total number of marketplaces worldwide to 22. To launch the new marketplace, Amazon is offering free delivery on first orders and on subsequent orders above R500 (about $27), access to 3,000 pick-up points, status updates via WhatsApp to track orders, 30 day refunds, and 24/7 customer support. The marketplace was supposed to launch in the country in 2023, but got delayed due to changes in priorities within Amazon.
___
In an unlikely partnership, Instacart is partnering with Uber Eats to expand into the restaurant delivery business. Instacart will add a new tab for restaurant delivery to its app in the coming weeks, the listings will be provided by Uber, and the food will be picked up and delivered by Uber Eats drivers. Customers will receive the same prices on both apps and Instacart will receive an affiliate commission on orders. It's a strange partnership though given that Instacart and Uber Eats actively compete on grocery delivery. Are they planning to merge? Uber says no.
___
Apple's advertisement for its latest iPad Pro sparked criticism for showing an animation of musical instruments, paint cans, cameras, record players, and other symbols of creativity being crushed by a giant machine, with the output being the new iPad Pro, which the company says is the thinnest Apple product ever. In this context, “crushing” was supposed to symbolize “consolidating” and “compacting” — with the visuals meant to showcase how the new iPad Pro puts the power of all these tools into the hands of creators in one thin device. However online commenters criticized the ad as insensitive and as symbolizing a “destruction of the human experience.” The ad hit the web on Tuesday, and by Thursday, Apple issued a mea culpa and apologized for the campaign.
___
Google is encouraging merchants to enable conversion annotations on their Google Shopping ads, which offer social proof that highlight a product's popularity. Conversion annotations like “best selling” or “3K shopped here recently” would provide visual cues about a product’s popularity or sales performance directly in the ad unit. Annotations like these are par for the course with e-commerce retailers including Amazon, Walmart, and Temu, which all employ similar tactics. They can provide valuable info for shoppers and also help with conversions. However they also open data privacy concerns, given that Google is not the actual retailer or marketplace selling the items, so a merchant would have to share this purchase history data from their e-commerce platform with Google — which technically most already do by giving access to GA4.
___
Shein is attempting to join the National Retail Federation as it pursues regulatory approval to go public in the US. The company believes that NRF membership would boost its chances of receiving SEC approval. However so far, Shein has been rejected numerous times. An anonymous source familiar with the matter said someone with heavy influence at the NRF is strongly against the Shein's admittance. However board members who spoke to CNBC said that Shein's membership application hadn't come up in meetings, and that they aren't involved in deciding which companies are granted access.
___
Amazon is leading the way with selling home goods, capturing 18.8% of consumer home furnishings spending, compared to Walmart's 7.3% market share. Notably, Amazon’s gains in the furniture category come in spite of the company’s decision to phase out two of its three furniture brands last year.
___
Stanley, which is projected to do $750M in sales this year, up from $73M in 2019, after seeing its water bottles become a status symbol thanks to TikTok, is now expanding into trendier accessories. The company is launching a line of bags called the All-Day Collection which include a mini cooler, backpack cooler, and Quencher Carry-All, designed for someone to sling their Stanley over their hip.
___
Jack Dorsey left the Bluesky board and deleted his account on the service he helped kickstart, claiming that Bluesky was “literally repeating all the mistakes” he made while running Twitter. Dorsey says he never intended Bluesky to be an independent company, but rather, an open source protocol that Twitter was supposed to be the first client of. He also confirmed that he is financially backing Nostr, another decentralized Twitter-like service popular among crypto enthusiasts and run by an anonymous founder.
___
Amazon is deploying 50 electric trucks in California, which it claims is the largest EV fleet in the country, as part of its mission to eliminate pollution from its global operations. The trucks will be integrated into first-mile operations, moving goods from container ships at the ports to fulfillment centers, as well as middle-mile operations, transporting packages from fulfillment centers to delivery centers.
___
Wix launched a new tool called AI Portfolio Creator, which allows a user to upload and organize large-scale image collections, select the type of portfolio they want, and then have the AI tool sort and generate a portfolio with clustered images, recommended titles and descriptions, and personalized layout options.
___
Amazon is now requiring all dietary supplements to be verified by a third-party testing, inspection, and certification organization — which is something that not even the FDA requires. Amazon is the largest supplement retailer in the US ahead of Walmart and Target, and its new requirements are expected to put more pressure on the industry, which is being scrutinized more than ever.
___
Alibaba is revamping its flagship retail website Taobao for the first time in seven years with a focus on providing a smoother search and buying process. The website overhaul comes ahead of the 618 sales event, China's second-largest annual shopping event. A few weeks ago I reported that Eddie Wu, the CEO of Alibaba Group, would now be directly overseeing its domestic e-commerce arm which includes Taobao and Tmall Group, and it sounds like he's hitting the ground running with his new responsibilities.
___
Amazon is hosting its first-ever Amazon Book Sale, a new shopping event starting on May 15th that offers up to 50% off print best sellers and up to 80% off Kindle Books. The six day shopping event will exclusively run in the US, and Prime-membership is not required to take advantage of the deals.
___
FTX reported that nearly all of its customers will receive the money back that they are owed, two years after the cryptocurrency exchange imploded. The company owes about $11.2B to its customers and estimates that it has between $14.5B and $16.3B to distribute to them. The caveat is that customers will receive the USD value of their holdings at the time of the exchange collapse, and not the actual crypto holdings themselves, which means that they'll miss out on all gains during the past two years during which BTC went from around $16k to now over $60k. Better than nothing though, that's for sure.
___
800,000 consumers in Europe and the US were duped into sharing card details and other sensitive personal data with a network of fake online designer shops operated from China, which comprised one of the largest scams of its kind with 76,000 fake websites created. The scammers used expired domains to host its fake shops in order to help avoid detection by websites or brand owners, and more than 1M orders were processed in the past three years alone.
___
Beyond Inc, which owns Bed Bath & Beyond, Overstock, and Zulily, reported that its Q1 net loss swelled to $72M from $10M a year ago, while its operating loss widened to $58M from $8M. The company's active customers grew to 6M, up 26% from nearly 5M a year ago, however, its average order value dropped to $173 from $220 a year earlier.
___
TikTok will begin automatically labeling AI generated content when it is uploaded from certain platforms like DALL.E 3, Adobe Firefly, Photoshop, and Microsoft Copilot. TikTok will also start attaching Content Credentials to content, which will remain on the media when downloaded, allowing other platforms to read the metadata.
___
eBay is testing an Add To Cart button in search results that opens a Quick View window, allowing buyers to skip the listing page. Technically the button should probably not be labeled “Add To Cart” since it doesn't perform that action, but rather, displays a quick view window with three buttons: Buy It Now, Add To Cart, View All Details. Sellers are worried that buyers will miss crucial details in the product description that may lead to increased returns and negative feedback.
___
Amazon is planning to launch its fleet of drones in Tolleson, Arizona, but the city's extreme temperature is hampering its efforts. Drones can't operate in temperatures exceeding 104 degrees Fahrenheit, a temperature that Tolleson crosses for a full three months of the year.
___
A US district judge dismissed X's lawsuit against Bright Data, a data-scraping company accused of improperly accessing X system and violating X terms and state laws when scraping and selling data. The judge basically said that if X owned the data, it could perhaps argue that it has exclusive rights to control it, but then X wouldn't be able to enjoy the safe harbor of Section 230, which allows the platform to avoid liability for third-party content. Can't have it both ways!
___
Nintendo is discontinuing its X integration for the switch on June 10th, which means users will no longer be able to post screenshots or videos to the platform from their device. The drop in support also affects games like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which had game-specific options to send out tweets. Microsoft Xbox dropped support for X in April 2023 and Sony Playstation dropped the service in October 2023 due to the increase in X's API access fees.
___
Amazon claimed that its recordable incident rate — a metric that comprises all injuries requiring “more than basic first-aid treatment” — at its US warehouses has improved by 24% since 2019. However the National Employment Law Project challenged Amazon's injury data in a report last week, claiming that Amazon's overall injury rate in 2023 was 71% higher than that of other employers in the sector at 6.5 cases per 100 workers.
___
Amazon Ads announced three new advertising formats for streaming TV including shoppable carousel ads, interactive pause ads, and interactive trivia ads. Amazon did not say when the new ad types would officially launch, but noted that it will formally present them at a presentation on May 14th.
___
Meta is rolling out an expanded set of generative AI ad tools that can create full image variations with text overlays, expand images to fit across different aspect ratios, and generate alternate versions of headlines and other ad text. The features will become available globally to advertisers by the end of the year.
___
Square introduced a tool called Square Kiosk to allow self-service ordering at fast food restaurants. The device is a combined software, hardware, and payment solution that allows customers to select exactly what they want with customization options, upgrades, and add-ons.
___
The European Parliament announced new measures to make packaging more sustainable and reduce packaging waste in the EU, including reduction targets of 15% by 2040 — which sounds far away but is only 16 years away?! As part of the new rules, the EU will set maximum empty space ratios for e-commerce transportation, ban certain single-use plastic packaging types, and beverage distributors and take-away food will have to offer consumers the option of bringing their own container.
___
Indians who pre-ordered Teslas in 2016 are giving up and seeking refunds of their deposits after Elon Musk canceled another visit to the country last month. Disillusioned Tesla enthusiasts in India say they will now buy a car from the company only if they see it in a showroom, or they'll buy a different electrical vehicle from a company that actually exists in the country.
___
Target is limiting its Pride Month collection to select stores this year instead of rolling out the merchandise nationwide like it typically has for the past decade, due to backlash the retailer experienced last year. Last May customers in certain stores knocked down LGBTQ+ merchandise displays, angrily approached store employees, and posted threatening videos on social media from inside the stores.
___
E-commerce spending from Jan 1 to April 30, 2024 rose 7% YoY to $331.6B, according to Adobe Analytics. One trend Adobe identified during the period is a shift of online spending to purchasing the cheapest goods across personal care, electronics, apparel, home & garden, furniture, and grocery.
___
Plus 7 seed rounds, IPOs, and acquisitions of interest, including Shopify's acquisition of Peel, a tool that integrates with a merchant's tech stack including Klaviyo and Recharge and helps them analyze their sales data to improve customer retention.
___
I hope you found this recap helpful. See you next week!

2024.05.13 22:47 Affectionate_Put8185 Relocating to Girona from UK in September

Hi all,
After working in the UK for two years, my company and I have come to an agreement to relocate to Girona from September (I'm half Spanish with dual nationality). I've done some reading and know more or less what the good areas are. I have a car so living a bit out of town would be an option (maybe better for parking), but don't want my commute (to the Eixample) to be longer than 30 minutes. I'm looking for a studio/apartment for <700EUR. The problem is in Fotocasa and Idealista there are not many options, and I am worried that in August when it's time for me to sign a contract there will not be much left. Does anybody local know how I can find apartments or studios set to become vacant in September? Or other places to look other than the two websites mentioned above? Thank you!

The features will become available globally to advertisers by the end of the year.

___

Two top six English Premier League clubs are in talks with Celtic over the transfer of Matt O’Riley, ahead of the European Championship’s this summer. Inter Milan have also been mentioned as a club with an eye on the Dane.
Acclaimed Matt O'Riley in talks with top English teams
Matt O'Riley was celebrated at Celtic on Sunday. Meanwhile, his backers are in talks with two Premier League clubs.
Matt O'Riley has had a phenomenal season at Celtic, and he was honored for that on Sunday evening.
Celtic held a ceremony to award the club's Player of the Year, and Matt O'Riley virtually clean swept the board.
The Danish star took three awards - Young Player of the Year, Players' Player of the Year and Player of the Year. According to Celtic's website the following day, the national team's assistant coach Morten Wieghorst was also present.
The fantastic season could also very well lead to an impressive summer transfer.
According to Tipsbladet, Matt O'Riley's backers are currently in talks with two unnamed top six teams from England's top flight, the Premier League, about a possible move ahead of this summer's European Championship.
Previously, 23-year-old Matt O'Riley has also been a hot topic at Atletico Madrid, who - as Tipsbladet could reveal - had a bid rejected in January.
Inter has also been mentioned as a club with an eye on the Dane.
Matt O'Riley has scored 16 goals and assisted 17 times in 46 games this season. Impressive numbers for a midfielder, to say the least.

Edmonton, Alberta – TheNewswire - May 13, 2024 — Golden Rapture Mining Corporation [CSE:GLDR] (“Golden Rapture” or the “Company”), is pleased to report that its Spring surface sampling program has been completed and that drilling has also just commenced at the Combined Mine area, Phillips Township Property, Rainy River District, NW Ontario.
A total of 61 well-mineralized samples were sent to the Lab last week with assay results pending. These appear to be our best-looking samples to date and our drilling has also just commenced targeting high-grade gold targets.

Mr. Richard Rivet, CEO of Golden Rapture, commented:
“Golden Rapture is primed for an exciting season of exploration that will target both our high-priority Combined Mine and our Young’s Bay Gold Occurrence with surface sampling programs and drilling of the numerous high-grade drill targets at these two areas of the property.
We expect a stream of upcoming assay results throughout the remainder of the year. So stay tuned for an exciting summer ahead as we seek to uncover our Combined Mine followed by our Young’s Bay Occurrence. Both areas are to be surface sampled and drilled starting now.”
Our priority targets include:
Combined Mine: Of main importance are four (4) main veins (three steeply dipping & one large flat-lying up to 12 meters thick with 762 metres of strike length). It has seven (7) shafts with some drifting with many trenches, pits, and visible gold documented. Recent Golden Rapture sampling results as high as 125.00 g/t Au
Young’s Bay Occurrence: Has six (6) parallel quartz veins, four of which have visible gold with 262 meters in strike length. In 1949, approximately 7.3 tonnes of material was taken from shaft #1 to a depth up to 3.7 meters yielding an astonishing grade of 769.81 g/t Au. Recent Golden Rapture sampling results as high as 204.00 g/t Au.
The property is truly a treasure chest of forgotten golden opportunities hosting an impressive eighteen (18) mine shafts with visible gold having been recorded historically & recently. Of great significance is the fact that the majority of the gold-bearing systems also have parallel systems.

About Golden Rapture Mining
Golden Rapture Mining is a well-funded exploration company engaged in the acquisition, exploration, and development of high-potential assets located in favorable, established Tier 1 mining jurisdictions being the Rainy River and Geraldton areas of NW Ontario, Canada.
Our second property includes the past-producing Hutchison/Maylac Gold Mine located in the Geraldton Gold Camp, Greenstone, NW Ontario. It was one of the richest mines in the area and was mined underground on and off from 1937 to 1947. The highest historical drill intersection included results as high as 24.16 oz/t/gold. The property has only seen shallow drilling and was only mined to a depth of around 400ft and lies in the shadows of the new Greenstone/Equinox Gold Mine. We would entertain a JV with the right partner.
