2023.08.14 23:48 RedDevil_Forever [Post Match Quotes] Erik ten Hag: "It can be better. We can play better. But we're very pleased with the win. "The opposition were dynamic. We have to match that. We had to fight for our points. (...) "We hope we'll be better on the ball in the next game."

Erik ten Hag

'We can play better'

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag to BBC Sport:
"It can be better. We can play better. But we're very pleased with the win.
"The opposition were dynamic. We have to match that. We had to fight for our points.
"There is no easy game in the Premier League and definitely not Wolves. They're a tough team and we did really well. You have to fight in every gmae.
"We hope we'll be better on the ball in the next game."
On Andre Onana:
"He had very good saves, was very calm, very good debut. After the opponent touched the ball he dived in so it was the judgement of the officials and lucky for us no penalty. I think you can debate it but I think no penalty."
On Mason Mount:
"Good performnace. He did what we expected him to do. He had a very good level in the game."

'VAR checked it and said no'

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag speaking to Sky Sports:
"I think we matched the runs, the clean sheet tells that. We played organised but now we have to be better on the ball.
"We gave the ball away too easily. But we got a clean sheet and three points.
"At half-time the message was to be more calm, composed, get more switches in. Get in between the lines more, which we did and caused problems. When they broke we had to match the runs [from the strikers], and you lose that control.
"The creativity was not so good because we gave the ball away too easily.
On Wolves' penalty appeal: "It is difficult. The keeper was brave to come out to meet the ball. The ball was touched before Andre [Onana] dived in, so he did not influence the touch [attempt] from the Wolves player.
"The VAR checked it and said no penalty."

via Laurie Whitwell
Ten Hag: "It was a tough game. We can be much better on the ball. Wolves were very aggressive. We could be better in decision-making. But I see many positive things, six, seven good high ball regains, we have to make more of them. In a low block we fought for our lives."
https://twitter.com/lauriewhitwell/status/1691206461869760513
Ten Hag: "I think we could have scored from turnovers, there were overloads, the frontline was not in the best form today, they could have made more out of it. Last week we scored some incredible goals, today we didn’t but it will come."
https://twitter.com/lauriewhitwell/status/1691206729172729857
Ten Hag on penalty call: "VAR looked + decided not to give, of course we are happy. I don't feel I have to react to [O'Neil's] interpretation. It is about the referee + VAR, the two players from Wolves come together, Andre didn't interfere the action from both of them."

Bruno Fernandes

'Not perfect but we found a way to win'

Man United captain Bruno Fernandes speaking to Sky Sports:
"It was important to start with a win and three points. We had a great fighting spirit, not the best performance but we had to find a way to win the game.
"We scored the only goal in the game and that was the most important thing.
On Wolves:
"Wolves have quality, a good team. With their new manager they played differently, more like Bournemouth did last season. On the way to press we did well to recover some balls but could have done better.
"They did many different things, the manager gave us options but on the pitch you need to find a way to figure out what the opponent is doing and adapt. They were really dangerous on the counter. For us it was not the perfect game but we got the win.
On the goal:
"Rapha [Varane] was there, we don't normally train with him in the box [in open play] but he was there and he scored. We were really happy for that.
"Again, it was really important to start wth a win, it gives you confidence for the next one. Now it is about getting rest and training well for the next one.

Raphael Varane

'Onana is a very good player'

Manchester United matchwinner Raphael Varane to BBC Sport:
"Very happy. It was a tough game against a very good team. It’s a good start to the season, three points, clean sheet."
On Andre Onana: "It’s a good start for him. We need time to build that connection on the pitch which is normal. He’s a very good player so he’ll help the team this season.
"The team spirit is already good but we want to improve. We want to be tough and hard to beat. We have to be connected on the pitch and aggressive. We did well. We can improve with the ball, more control, more calm."
On why Lisandro Martinez came off at half-time: "A little problem on his ankle, tendon. We’ll see but I don’t think it’s a big deal. We’ll see how he is this week."

Gary Neville

'United fortunate, Wolves fantastic'

I thought Wolves were absolutely fantastic tonight.
Manchester United's midfield was non-existent, the front three didn't work hard enough in a defensive sense.
Wolves got a new manager four days ago and there was doom and gloom about their season, but they were absolutely fantastic.
United were outplayed and can feel fortunate that they came away with three points. They did not deserve it.

'He was never getting there'

The reason I think it was a penalty was because Onana was nowhere near the ball.
I think he was never getting there, he was always under it so he could've made a decision before he jumped...

'The best I have ever seen them play'

I think that is the best I have ever seen Wolves play.
They were brave, they exploited Man United. They were excellent.
Gary O'Neil will be devastated by the result, how they didn't take something from that game I won't know because they had the chances.

Gary O'Neil

'We somehow found a way not to score'

Wolves boss Gary O'Neil speaking to Sky Sports:
"Yeah disappointed of course that we have to drive home with nothing. When I look what the lads gave and how hard they worked and stuck to the game plan, they were incredible.
"We wanted some points and we dont leave with any."
On causing issues for United:
"We tried to overload the middle, create a box in there four versus three, lots of detail. Similar approach to what I have always done, while tweaking it with the players we have.
"But it isn't all down to me, the players were great and executed it. We had some great chances but found a way somehow to not put the ball in the net."

'The keeper nearly took our forward's head off'

Gary O'Neil speaking to Sky Sports:
"I thought live it was a penalty. It looked like the keeper nearly took our forward's head off. I think it is a foul, you go for the ball and clatter the player that hard, it is a penalty.
"I thought he was going over to the screen at first but unfortunately he booked me and not Onana.
"I understand the rules [of sticking with the on field decisions as much as possible], but I don't fully accept it.
"I have spoken to the officials about it already. It is a dfifcult decison for the on-field official, we can't just leave it. If we are all saying it then he need to have a look.
"In the end we can't just focus on that decision. To come to Old Trafford and have the most shots of any side since 2005 and dominate after just four days of work is exceptional. The lads deserved more tonight."

Wolves' Matheus Cunha

'Upset is the word'

Wolves' Matheus Cunha to BBC Sport:
"Upset is the word. We worked a lot. We need to keep improving. We mixed the new ideas and the old ideas. I'm a little upset with that result.
"He [Gary O'Neil] has helped us a lot. It's hard to change the coach one week before the first game but football is like that.
"I feel 100%. The Premier League is the best competition in the world. I feel more free to play here. Today we needed to score more.
"It's a very hard decision. For me it's a penalty but you need to respect."

2022.12.03 04:06 IsJustSophie A rant about vehicles in 2042 and how i think would improve

If im been honest i haven't played much other moder era battlefields much so im speaking from 2042 and bf1 and 5, also my own experience with other games and the hundreds of hours i have in 2042.
I will speak on every vehicle individually but also in vehicles classes on specific.
The most importan thing for me is is the jet category, i think it needs a whole rework and some new jets should be added. The flight physics should be reworked and improved at least, i think being close of how bf5 physics work( aka based on momentum and speed but allow complex maneuver) that way the most skill pilot would win and not who ever shot the misiles first, i know this is not realistic per say but is the best mechanics for a game like battlefield,
New jets, as a lot of people say we need atack jets, but i think we shouldn't get the a10 and the su-25 these are jets from the 70's and in the year 2042 would be nearly 75 year old! The current trend is multiroll aircraft that would change roll when a situation is needed. Thats why i think we should rework the f35 to be a CAS (close air support aka atack jet) in its so call beast mode that can carry bombs and hydras and all the good things, and add two new jets the su-75 checkmate and the f22 raptor (i know the raptor would be old too but the usa has only started its next generation fighter program and we dont even have a concept of how it would be) well, the su-75 would be the Russian counterpart of the f35 (as it is irl) and would do the same, and the f22 would substitute the f35 in its fighter roll and that way the us would have a chance on winning a dogfight because currently if the pilot is decent the su-57 would win every time. I think this is the best option but if not, just add thoes drones as CAS and (even if it doesn't make sense) make the f35 and su-57 equal on physics to give a fighting chance to the US side.
Helis, i think the default atack heli (apachy/hokun) are prety balanced, but i would add a TV missile to the gunner like in bf3/4 and make the weaponry behave more like in bf4. The nightbird i think it needs a small rework on the weapons, take off the hydras and maybe substitute it with a TOW why not, but most importantly improvement to the minigun accuracy is needed to reward diferent play styles and skill. I think if you do that and make it possible for the entire team to spawn in the nightbird (like in bf3 portal littlebird) the nightbird would be fine in a category of it own and not with the atack helis.
The stealth helis, i think everybody agrees that they need a nerf of some shape, so i recomend this options; either make the stealth mode have a timer and it deactivate when it drops the bombs or make it that if take an amount of damage (lets say 25 health) the stealth deactivate (currently you can only force it out of it is if you deseable a part), it will also be nice it the bombs explode in the air if you drop them too high to prevent sky ceiling camping.
The transport heli, it is in a wierd position, because they're so big there are easy targets for recoilless so if you lower the health too much they will get destroy pretty fast, so my idea is to lower just a bit not much and for the weapons take of the 40mm granades and the 50mm cannon and put a spotter like in the nightbird and make the miniguns more accurate but dont let them look straight forward and make it like in a black hawk. I think this would balance them good enough. And increase the sits by two even if they dont do anything.
The MBTs, first and foremost they need a penetrantion mechanic like in bf5, rigth now is just the one that shots first win, some aps of some kind would be nice to add for the MBTs and also lets talk about the gunners wepons. I think it would be cool if the spotter had and option of insted of the spot pulse to have an UAV launcher, maybe let it lazer designed things like the softlan, the top gunner (the one with the 50.) is fine as it is but i think the TOW should be removed and put on the 60mm morter instead, it would be more balanced.
The TOR is too new to put an opinion on it but i think is too op against aircrafts right now.
The wildcat, i think is pretty op at the moment, a good wild cat can easily block the whole map from aircrafts, and yeah is supposed to be good against aircraft, but it can be inmortal, but is easy to balance just decrease the spread of the 30mm cannon but put back the damage fall off at distance. And maybe add the option to run a TOW instednof the AA of AT missile.
The RAM, bolte and MAV are fine and doesn't need any changes.
The light transport, i think the 30mm and 50mm on the LATV should go and be replaced with a LMG and HMG. Maybe put a EMP laucher with them like in the TOR.
Well this is all the vehicles and changes i could think of that would benefit the game positively, im open for any suggestions or opinions.
(please keep in mind i am NOT a gmae developer and im just speaking from experience and my thoughts, also sorry if i had baf inglish)

2022.06.21 19:22 Diqz969 Dark Souls is hands down the best Fromsoft game...

Yes even better than Elden Ring.
I picked up DS1 with the remaster and it dominated my life for the last half of 2019. I played Bloodborne, Sekiro, and DS3 briefly before this and I really loved bloodborne, but I would never consider myself a fan of these games and never finished a fromsoft game untill I played DS1.
To make a long story short, after beating the Bell Gargoyles, my eyes were opened to just how great these games are. Starting with essentially scraps and fighting your way up this labyrinth that had all of these branching paths throughout the levels, with the different secrets that you can uncover, various paths that you can take, the sence of mystery when discovering a blocked off area like Sens Fortress completely captivated me. Also, there were so many surprises throughout this sequence that made me drop my jaw like the 2nd bell gargoyle, and how you can cut their tails off, the elevator back to fire link(all of which I didn't know before hand). And that moment of climbing up the bell tower that piling the lever is something I will remember for a long time. I felt like I single handedly liberated a kingdom overtaken by demons. It was like this calmness, that was the first time I have experienced in this game.
It gave me a feeling that I didn't think was posible anymore in a video game. I thought that I was just getting old so most of my experiences I had with games growing up just felt better because I was young and impressionable. Now, I knew that feeling was still out there, it's just most of the games that are being released nowadays just aren't as great.
I pretty much dumped all my free time outside of classes and social events into this game and loved every part of it. Even the parts that most people aren't crazy over(most post lordvestle areas) I still fell in love with. I can look at some of these areas and bosses now and see the technical flaws in them. But it still didn't shake that sence of awe I felt throughout the game.
And also the lore too I feel is one of the best in any media I have experienced. I think on it's surface, you could say that there are better setting out there, but specifically the way that this story of a dying world and it's leaders desperately clinging onto it, even though that end is inevitable, and the way that story ties into the present world you play in, and the game in general, is done so well, for what dark souls is, I think perfectly fits it(TheActMan's video on how Dark Souls is a masterpiece explains this alot better, so definately check that out if you want more context on it).
In alot of ways I feel like this is objectively the best game I have ever played. If aliens asked us "what is the best video game humans have made", I think Dark Souls would be a pretty good example to show them. Really, the only things I would want changed in a posible remake are parts of lost izalith, bed of chaos, make tomb of the giants darkness slightly more bearable, make some bosses less cheap, improve performance and update things like hit boxes to smooth the play experience out, and graphical updates and that's pretty much it.
Every part in this game from the mechanics, systems, levels, lore, ext. no matter how big or small, contribute to delivering these experiences and feelings that most fans of this game know are some of the best that they have experienced in a video game and all of that tying back to the themes of the game as well culminates into this experience that I think incapsulates the best example of generally, what a piece of art should be which is an execution on an idea, theme, or feeling. This game changed the way I look at not only other video games, but all forms of media like film, TV, and music as well. As in how well does this thing execute on the experience it is trying to give.
I know alot of this sounds very theoretical and out there, but the TL;DR is that Dark Souls executes perfectly on what it is trying to do.
White gmaes that are also top contenders for the best fromsoft game, Elden Ring and Bloodborne, are fantastic games, I think that Dark Sould did something so special that these two never really came close to achieving. Bloodborne I think is close, and I think it has a more interesting setting and lore, but I don't think it quite gets to the levels that Dark Souls gets to. Elden Ring is also great, but i feel it suffers from having it's content stretched out a bit too much to fit the size of the world it created, and is more of the "greatest hits" per se of all of fromsofts game's mechanics leading up to this point. I think I will be putting the most hours into elden ring, bud bloodborne and DS1 are more rich experiences to me.
At the end of the day, whatever reasons people have for putting other fromsoft games higher or lower, to me, the sometimes off hit boxes or performance, unfinished areas, or bosses do not hinder the experience Dark Souls creates, and that experience being the best that Fromsoft has ever created.
But that's just my opinion.

2020.01.14 23:00 wwwpol Respect Mugino Shizuri (Toaru Majutsu no Index)

You can tear off my arms and legs and crush my organs, but you can’t change the difference between our strengths! I’m a Level 5! I’m #4! I’m Meltdowner! Don’t get so pleased with yourself, you motherfucker! I can kill a Level 0 like you 100 times without moving a fingeeeerrrrr!!

Respect Mugino Shizuri

Mugino Shizuri is the 4th ranked out of 7 Level 5 espers in Academy City, and leader of the underground organization ITEM. Incredibly arrogant, she has absolute faith in her abilities and often underestimates her opponents. She has no qualms putting her teammates in danger to fulfill her own goals, and is willing kill them should they stand in her way.
Terminology
Ability
Electrons can have the properties of both particles and waves, but can only act like one of those at a time. Mugino's esper ability Meltdowner allows her to fix electrons into a state where they can't decide whether to act as a particle or a wave. When these "ambiguous state" electrons strike an object, they abruptly stop, producing lots of destructive force.
Scaling
The "Dark Matter Constructs" section of Kakine's RT
Key
Feats marked with BC are performed under the influence of Body Crystal, a drug that greatly increases the user's power by driving it out of control. Using this causes extreme backlash in the user's body.

Old Testament

First recruited to take down the #3 Level 5 Misaka Mikoto, Mugino and ITEM later fight other Academy City underground organizations in a bloody Battle Royale. After killing one of her teammates for betraying the team and trying to force another to put their lives at risk, she is defeated by a member of ITEM's subordinate organization, Hamazura Shiage.
Meltdowner
General
Cutting/Destructive Force
Propulsion
Range
Strength
Casually hits Hamazura hard enough to make him nauseous and sprawl over
Knocks Hamazura a few meters away, toppling several hydroponic containers. Hamazura is surprised he didn't break any bones from her strike
Kicks Hamazura almost 10 times, causing his organs to shake
Kicks Misaka a few feet away, almost causing her to vomit
Does it again
Durability
Quickly recovers from getting hit in the head by a metal-filled doll moving at high speed
Can still get on top of, shout at, and choke Hamazura despite just having her eye cut and her arm blown off
After the above, she is shot several times and passes out briefly, quickly getting back up to use her ability one last time. She finally goes down after getting punched in the face by Hamazura
Survives temperatures of a few hundred degrees caused by air friction from supersonic winds
Speed
(Also Meltdowner) Reacts to a lightning "spear" from Misaka and takes advantage of the fact that both of their abilities involve electron manipulation to partially control the spear and offset its trajectory
Equipment
Silicon Burn: Mugino carries around silicon cards, which "diffract" her beams and allow her to attack a large number of targets

Post-Cybernetics/New Testament

Following another loss against Hamazura and the severe injuries that came with it, she obtains a prosthetic eye and arm, as well as burn treatments and some artificial organ replacements.
In the New Testament sequel series, Mugino has greatly mellowed out, having been forgiven by Hamazura and ITEM.
Meltdowner
General
Cutting/Destructive Force
Range
Strength
(Also Speed) Her prosthetic eye is fast enough to track the movements of a large number of Dianoid spears. Her prosthetic arm is fast enough to create afterimages while intercepting them and strong enough to shatter them
Speed
Along with one of her teammates, tears the bombs off a suicide bomber less than a second before the bombs go off
Intelligence
Disguises herself using special makeup in order to get close to and ambush Hamazura
Misc
Her prosthetic eye can interface with security cameras, allowing her to locate someone by quickly searching through the footage

2019.02.19 07:10 Typhlosion130 I haven't played in several months. I've came back recently and I must say I am disappointed

RC was a game I used to love. just spend a long time lpaying, die or not. Joining in way back when all we had were smgs, rails, plasma and nanos. no megabots, tiers, 'boss battles'. the good days.
Playing the game now, I can have fun... if I don't see any drones. the current iteration of drones I was not so delighted to see was a variety of blocks with helicopter blades on the back. not actually any thing new however much more powerful than any thing i've seen before.
drones... they're literal abuse of the game's physics. taking the 6 directions of freedom of a helicopter. but giving it the mobility of a fly. Drones are one of hte many things sapping the life out of robocraft, where you have to play ugly looking machines that are very obviously not within the game's realm of balance when you look at normal movement types that aren't too complex.
I don't entirely know how to fix this, or many of rc's problems but Free jam if you do still look at the subreddit. Your gmae seems to lack a vision. drones still run rampant and suck the life out of the game.
and I'll still argue to the end that robocraft was more fun when it was a thousand times simpler years ago than it is now.
its suppose to be a game about building cool robots and fight in competitive, and not competitive areas with said cool bots. what we got is something that's trying to be a moba while also just being drone simulator with heavy armored build styles being entirely obsolete and useless among other major balancing issues.
(also this is just a personal gripe i've had for a long time but.. fuck ion cannons...)
if you really want this game to be like a moba, make a setting where bots have classes. pick a class and it has major effects on how your bot behaves. extra speed. double health on every thing. extra damage. extra energy. maybe even limit the movement parts a class can use. I don't know.
I don't even know what I"m talking about any more I just want to like this game but can't.

Bu Nu is an Honored One of the White Creed, one of the 6 most powerful warriors of the race of beings who inhabit Wan Qu aka Phantom Island. The Honored Ones sought a method of saving their homeworld from a disease known as Nothingness, an echo of human pain and suffering that ravaged Phantom Island. To do so, they tricked many humans into accepting a seed into their bodies which turned them into nutrients for Smelting Aura in exchange for massively increased power, essentially turning an entire city into a massive power source/weapon.

2015.03.26 16:10 Carthac Julius Thomas: HeithK's Way Too Early 2015 Fantasy Player Opinions

HeithK's Way Too Early 2015 Fantasy Player Opinions
Disclaimer: As the fantasy football industry is still a young one without an appropriate way to verify qualifications outside of previous work and professional reputation, I feel it is important that users read/listen for the quality of an argument and not take someone's opinion solely on face value, including my own. Fantasy football is a predictive game of incomplete information with so many influential variables, some being known and some unknown. The argument I make for a player's future production is reflective of the evidence in which I have accrued, but contains personal bias as it is still an opinion. I will never be 100% right, nor will anyone when it comes to this game. That being said, I hope I am able to craft content that is to the quality of you investing time in reading my opinion. I welcome all feedback(preferably constructive) as exchange of ideas can help both of us improve our ability to achieve in the game we love to play.
With this series, I would like to provide a place where I can place my early thoughts on players and their current future fantasy situation. Please feel free to post opposing thoughts and constructive criticism. I will most likely be reading them all for additional valid points to add to my own opinion.
% Line: I think it would be cool to provide a % line on whether they will improve or decline from their last relevant fantasy season(ex. 40% chance up----60% chance down). This line is purely speculation and involves only my personal feelings. With all that said, let's get to it!
Julius Thomas (5% chance up----95% chance down) Last season: 13 g, 43/62 rec, 489 yds, 12 TDs Last season FPPG(13 g): 120.9(9.30 standard), 163.9(12.61 PPR) 2012-2013 FPPG(14 g): 10.77 standard, 15.41 PPR
It's a good habit in life to always try to find optimism in any situation. The signing of Julius Thomas to Jacksonville is going to put that to the test. Let's see....he won't have to play in the cold as much in Florida. And...he got paid for all the hard work he put into succeeding at football! That's something right?
Moving from Denver to Jacksonville poses an obvious significant step down in terms of total fantasy opportunities for Thomas. Comparing the two from last season, Denver represented 50 more pass attempts,1600 more passing yards(average of 103 more passing yards per gmae), and 25 more passing touchdowns. Both teams will have a slightly new look as they are bringing in new offensive coordinators, but I’m truly concerned by the move in Jacksonville. Jedd Fisch was not a great offensive coordinator by any means and needed to be replaced, but when you rank #31 in total offense last season, why would you bring in Greg Olson, the man that was the offensive coordinator of the team ranked 32nd! His track record in previous OC positions is not instilling any confidence in me either.
Detroit 2004-2005: rank24/27 St. Louis 2006-2007: rank 6/24 Tampa Bay 2008-2011: rank 14/28/19/21 Oakland 2013-2014: rank 23/32
When it comes to the receiving talent on the Jaguars, I feel they are in a great place. Allen Robinson showed great potential last season, with physical traits that are comparable to Dez Bryant. Marqise Lee was inconsistent, but flashed ability at times. Allen Hurns was a pleasant surprise as an UDFA in the flanker role. Now, with Justin Blackmon possibly returning and Julius Thomas coming in as a receiving TE, there is a plethora of options for the 2nd year QB to utilize. However, I am unsure if he is able to take the next step in his development.
The Jaguars franchise quarterback was horrendous last season. Bortles showed some speed in the open field on QB option rushes, and was fairly effective while throwing on the run. Outside of that, his list of mistakes was pretty extensive. He often stood stiff and flat footed in the pocket, threw off his back foot, threw without pointing his front foot, often made poor decisions and threw highly inaccurate passes when under pressure, rarely went beyond 2nd read(possibly OC decision), and stared down his receivers constantly. However, I think the most disappointing aspect of it all was his lack of development as the season went on. At the end of the season, there wasn't much positive to reflect upon heading into 2015. That's not to say he can't develop as this was his 1st season in the NFL, but I am not feeling optimistic about his situation.
Lastly, we move on to Julius himself. Thomas' value in Denver was greatly bolstered by the vast amount of TDs he accrued over the last 2 seasons. This does not necessarily mean he is simply a red zone threat, but if the Jaguars plan to use him in a similar fashion, there should be a huge drop in fantasy production for Julius, considering the Jaguars only threw 15 passing touchdowns total in the entire 2014 season. Another big concern his fantasy owners should have is his run blocking ability. About halfway through the season, Julius started being pulled in favor of Virgil Green as Denver started shifting to a heavier rushing attack. If you are being pulled from your position because of an inability to perform some aspect of your job on the field, you take possible routes away from your totals and make plays more predictable when you are on the field.
Looking at his ceiling, even if you were to give him his 2013 reception and yard total, then give him a reasonable amount of TDs(let's say 6), that puts him right ahead of Delanie Walker at TE #9 from last season. If that's his ceiling, it's going to be tough to invest a mid round pick when there are plenty of TEs capable of putting up a similar stat line at a much lower premium. Given all the factors stacked against him, I feel we may be seeing a truly hopeless situation in terms of fantasy production. RIP in peace Orange Julius, we hardly knew ye.
