New laptop [suggestion]
2024.05.16 23:43 Dav_611 New laptop [suggestion]
I am a computer graphic designer and I work in 3D for architecture as freelancer but I also produce lighter content (logo, layout) and motion design, video (after effects, premiere...etc).
I have a great work PC in a coworking space (4070 ti ryzen 9) and for 5 years an alienware R3. But unfortunately the alienware died last week. So I'm thinking about an alternative solution when I'm not at the office (sometimes I have to work from home or on the move, it's not the majority of the time but it happens). For two years I tended to remote from the desktop PC to my laptop. So I'm looking for a lightweight laptop that can do remote work for my heavy 3D production and also work directly on it to do photoshop, illustrator and after effects. Most of time at home with a second screen connected to it. Occasional travel without a second screen.
I'm thinking of a MacBook Air M3. For the idea that mac can be a good investment in the long term (resale, quality) Is this a good idea? if so, what configuration (13 or 15 inches, 8TB or 16, 256 SSD is sufficient knowing that I copy my projects onto a Nas once finished). I am thinking of limiting my budget below 1500 euros because it is a second computer. Are there better alternatives on this budget or less?
I will finish that on a personal level I like to draw, edit videos and edit photos and for that I also have the iPad, perfect in the sofa. But a light laptop could replace it for the video part which would be more comfortable. (DaVinci) Sorry for my English I'm a french guy :)
thanks in advance

2024.05.16 23:23 CatofKipling Enough of this early 00’s nostalgia, it fucking sucked. It was a shameful, shitty time.
The early 00’s sucked. 9/11, two wars people completely ignore, DOMA, our premiere “exceptionally stupid, unqualified” president, a stock market crash, a housing bubble, a recession. The 24 hour news cycle blossomed, all the polarizations you see today found their earliest iterations in that time (the fucking tea party). Meanwhile pop culture was mean, hateful, and stupid, hinging mostly on harassing drug-addicted or mentally ill starlets. Reality TV today is a cakewalk compared to “Fear Factor”, “The Biggest Loser”, “The Swan”, “Extreme Home Makeover”. Also, consumerism and fashion got waaaay out of control, suddenly everyday people were dying to get $300 jeans, ugly as fuck designer bags, everything was about looking really rich and really trashy at the same time. People were also orange in those days and didn’t want to be questioned about it. Things were GODDAMN UGLY. Proudly, happily UGLY.
FUCK that time, it doesn’t deserve nostalgia or homage or motif. Look, it should’ve been my youth and a real sweet spot but it was a blight on American history. I see these kids today dressing like they’re about to attend the 2004 VMAs and it’s like “Don’t bother”.
And just for good measure- FUCK the nostalgia for those cheap, shitty, poorly-written kids shows on the Disney Channel and Nickelodeon. I don’t want to see those chunky highlights atop of a mound of fugly mixed patterns with some dumb caption like “QWWEEEENNN”. Those all fucking sucked, ask Jeanette McCurdy.

2024.05.16 20:58 MasterWarehouseLLC Unleash you Inner Designer!
2024.05.16 20:25 cisco Insider Tips for Making the Most of Cisco Live 2024 in Vegas
Greetings, fellow tech enthusiasts!
With the highly anticipated Cisco Live 2024 just around the corner, we're thrilled to share some insider tips from our Cisco Champions,
u/scottm32768 and
u/arharris2, to help you make the most of your experience in Las Vegas. Whether you're a first-timer or a seasoned attendee, there's always something new and exciting to discover at this premier networking event.
Travel Arriving in Las Vegas at least a day before the conference starts is not just a smart move; it's a strategic one. It gives you ample time to rest and recharge before a busy week ahead, ensuring you're at your best for the event. So, make sure you get there no later than mid-afternoon to avoid any last-minute rush. And while you're at it, don't forget to pack comfortable walking shoes as you'll be doing a lot of walking during the conference.
Hotel To ensure maximum flexibility and convenience, we strongly recommend staying at a hotel within a 15-minute walking distance from the convention center. This way, you won't be tied to bus schedules and can walk to the conference at any time, giving you more control over your schedule. The Mandalay Bay and the Delano offer a short walk to the convention center, making them excellent choices. However, the Delano is your best bet if you want to avoid walking through the casino. The Luxor and Excalibur are a bit farther away (20+ minutes walking), but with their covered and air-conditioned walkways, you won't have to worry about the weather or getting too tired.
Sessions If you're planning to attend Cisco Live, it's important to sign up for your breakout sessions before the conference begins. Unlike some other conferences, signing up beforehand is mandatory at Cisco Live, as it guarantees you a reserved admission to the session of your choice. This is especially important for the most popular sessions, so plan your sessions in advance to avoid missing out on the ones you really want to attend.
Once the session catalog opens up on the registration website, it is advisable to schedule the sessions you are most interested in as soon as possible. You can always go back later to change sessions. It's important to prioritize the topics that are most important to you, as there are usually more sessions than you can attend. When choosing sessions, don't just read the titles. If a session title sounds interesting, read the abstract to get more details about what the session will cover. You can also get an idea of the technical depth of a given session based on the session number. 1000 level sessions are introductory, 2000 are intermediate, and 3000 are advanced. If you are experienced with a given technology and choose a 1000-level session, you will likely be disappointed at the lack of depth. For sessions that are not new, you can also look at the slides on the Cisco Live On-Demand Library to get an idea of what the session will cover. However, for new sessions, you have to rely on the abstract. Shortly before the conference, you can download the session PDFs. This will allow you to double-check your choices and make any necessary adjustments to your schedule. Don’t forget to leave some room in your schedule to explore the World of Solutions Expo!
To get the most out of the sessions, it's recommended that you arrive early and get settled in a good seat. The first few minutes of a session usually contain valuable information that you don't want to miss. When attending session, don't hesitate to ask questions during the presentations if something isn't clear. Other attendees may have the same question, and the speakers are usually happy to clarify. If you have a more detailed question, it's best to wait until the presentation is over to ask. Pro tip: conference rooms can be chilly, so don’t forget to pack a jacket!
Meet the Engineer If you have unanswered questions about Cisco technology, you might want to consider scheduling a Meet the Engineer (MTE) session. It’s time with just you and an engineer who is a specialist in Cisco technology. They can help you with analysis of a technology, comparison of a Cisco solution with an alternate solution, difficult TAC cases, and more. It’s a great opportunity to spend some quality time with someone who can help you solve those difficult problems and answer the hard questions.
While you can always stop by the booth to talk to an available engineer, scheduling a session in advance will allow you to choose the engineer you want to work with. This personalized access is only available at Cisco Live! You can easily find the right person to schedule by using the Meet the Engineer button in the session abstracts. Even if you don't think you have enough questions to fill an hour, scheduling an engineer and inviting other attendees to join you can be a great way to get more value out of the MTE sessions!
World of Solutions Remember to set aside some time during the week to visit the World of Solutions. This is where you can speak with vendors, explore various product lines, attend demos, participate in self-paced labs, or capture the flag events to enhance your skills. If you have any tough questions saved up, you can ask Cisco people, both technical and non-technical, and there's a special section of the show dedicated to TAC people.
While there are receptions with food and beverages and lots of tchotchkes, the World of Solutions is a great place to make contacts. If you want to have a real conversation with any vendors, don't count on doing it during a reception - it's just too busy. It's better to devote a breakout session to the expo, where there will be fewer people, and you can have a meaningful conversation with the vendors.
Cisco Live Celebration The Cisco Live Celebration, formerly known as the CAE (Customer Appreciation Event), is a giant social gathering for all the attendees. It’s a great time to relax and socialize with people you’ve met at Cisco Live. For Las Vegas 2024, Elton John will be headlining the Cisco Live Celebration will be at Allegiant Stadium. Be prepared to be reminded of when rock was young with some Crocodile Rock!
Every year, the bus rides back from this get crazy. Leaving a bit early may save you a ton of time. Depending on where you’ve chosen to stay, it may be within walking distance, and the weather in the evening is usually quite comfortable.

At

Our dental implants consist of three main components:
- A titanium implant screw that acts as a tooth root
- An abutment that connects the implant to the crown
Benefits of Dental Implants
- Natural Appearance and Function: Implants are crafted to mimic the look, feel, and performance of natural teeth.
- Enhanced Chewing Ability: Allows you to eat your favorite foods without discomfort.
- Bone Preservation: Helps maintain jawbone density and prevent bone loss.
- Improved Speech: Eliminates slippage, allowing for clear and confident speech.
Cosmetic Dentistry: Enhancing Your Smile

- Enhanced Appearance: A straight smile boosts confidence and self-esteem.
- Better Functionality: Properly aligned teeth improve chewing and speaking.
- Prevention of Dental Issues: Correcting alignment issues can prevent more serious dental problems in the future.
Root Canal Treatment: Saving Your Natural Teeth
When a tooth is severely damaged or infected, root canal treatment can save it from extraction. Our root canal therapy involves removing the infected pulp, cleaning and disinfecting the space, and then filling and sealing it. This procedure eliminates the infection and prevents further damage, allowing you to keep your natural tooth.
Benefits of Root Canal Treatment
- Pain Relief: Eliminates the source of tooth pain and discomfort.
- Preservation of Natural Tooth: Keeps your natural tooth intact, avoiding the need for extraction.

2024.05.16 19:06 belligerentsea i watched the movie and here's my review (specific spoilers are blacked out!)
i'm currently in south korea, where the movie had just premiered yesterday. now that i slept on it, and consulted the source material again, i decided to write this review. though i suppose, since there aren't that many people who have seen it yet, this is kind of a half-review, half-informational warning.
long story short: i didn't love it. it's still haikyuu, so there's still a lot of good in it, but lots of my fears about this match being adapted into an 85-minute movie came true. this will sound dramatic (and it is--because it's nowhere near as bad
overall), but as far as the quality of pacing goes, i would sooner compare it to land vs aipath of the ball ovas than any season of the show.
and now, to get a bit more specific. (i will try my best to keep this concise, but my verbose ass is really bad at that, so please forgive me.)
i'd like to start at the end.
there's a post-credits scene, so make sure to stay for it.
it's the nekoma third-years running into suguru and mika (ch327) + a teaser of kamomedai (the last scene from ch326). this heavily implies the second movie will be karasuno vs kamomedai. overall, i'd say the good things about the movie are this:
- obviously, the voice acting.
- the animation is movie-grade quality and certain scenes were really impressive.the first rally was breathtaking, for instance.
- there were some really nice, small touches added.e.g. mop crew doing their thing between sets, karasuno boys drawn with hinata's hair when kenma said they all had a case of shoyo-itis, shimada getting a big usopp-like nose when he boasted about tadashi, etc.
- i do enjoy the "hybrid" character re-design.
- lastly, the final sequence of the match. (HUGE spoiler, dead dove do not click!)the camera pov becomes kenma - we experience the on-court action of the last couple of chapters as him. my feelings are actually a quite mixed on this, but i would ultimately classify this as a positive because it was a brave and unique directorial choice. i also appreciate the idea behind it, i'm just not sure if it entirely stuck the landing. it was very visceral, and in-line with the vision of the movie's narrative, as well as a sweet gesture toward the viewers. but in comparison to how beautifully the last couple of chapters of this match played out in the manga? ...i'm not sure what to make of it.
as for the bad parts, there's one small thing that bugged me: they did not re-draw the smaller flashbacks from previous seasons. unfortunately, the other thing that bothered me was much worse--the huge, pace-stunting cuts, which i would put into two basic categories.
- the cuts bad for characterization. this is mostly about tiny scenes (like the reactions and inner thoughts of, or short dialogues between the onlooking characters), but there were a few major cuts.the two that come to mind right away: the beginning of the kenma and kuroo flashback (i was really looking forward to the part about "just a little bit of internal bleeding"), and the entirety of the grandpa ukai and coach nekomata flashback (this one, i can sort of understand--though i don't like it personally--but i suppose it makes sense, as to reaffirm that this is no longer about the older generation's battle).there might have been something else just off about the editing/storyboarding which made these cuts more apparent to me, but i can't tell after just one watch. i did leave with an impression that it was somewhat reminiscent of the ovas, though--a lot of the time, just going through the motions of the story rather than re-telling it, hitting the important beats but not caring to build up to it; something akin to a book report made to look like an inspiring adaptation. which leads me to the other category...
- the cuts bad for the game. while they kept pretty much all of the most impactful parts of the match, the stuff they cut made it look like lots of unearned pay-off (like, you can't cut most of the grueling rallies up?? the hard fight for each point is what made earning them so rewarding???). this is probably my biggest gripe. i distinctly remember how i felt when i first read this match--the secondhand exhaustion, how moved i was by the camaraderie/history between these two teams, and having a sense that i'd witnessed a semi-conclusion of the story as a generational dream comes to pass. many of these feelings had not translated well to my experience of the movie.
that about covers my thoughts. i will be going to see it again soon, just because i'm a haikyuu nut. but i don't expect my opinion to change upon second viewing.
ultimately, i don't think it's a bad movie but it is a disappointing adaptation.

2024.05.16 18:41 GrowersCrypto NOT Coin
Notcoin touts itself as the premier Web3 gaming platform.
Integrated directly within Telegram, Notcoin emerged as a play-to-earn game, offering players the chance to "mine" its digital currency, dubbed Notcoin, by engaging with an animated coin in the chat interface. This game, born from the efforts of the Open Builders community and supported by the TON Foundation, owes its overnight popularity to its straightforward design and Telegram integration.
The game first made its appearance as a closed beta on Telegram in November 2023. Despite being marketed as a "memecoin" lacking a definitive purpose, it quickly captured the attention of over 650,000 users in a matter of weeks. Its official launch on January 1, 2024, propelled by the TON Foundation's backing, saw a staggering influx of over 5 million players in the initial week alone.
Notcoin stands as an entry-level gateway to the blockchain and digital currency realms for beginners. Players mine Notcoins through simple clicks, with each interaction producing a Notcoin. The game is further enriched with energy limits and booster items, encouraging players to engage with friends and participate in competitive groups.

2024.05.16 17:38 Several_Equal Need Help - Upgrade RAM or Laptop?
| I currently have an Asus TUF Dash f15 from 2021 (see image for specs). My main uses are a program called StructureStudio which is a 3D design software for pools (relativley demanding program from what I've been told), and to edit my podcast in Adobe Premier pro which consists of multiple 4K cameras and 1-2 hour episodes. For light work, everyday use it performs fine. Needless to say, when I am running a large StructureStudios file and on a Zoom call, or towards the end of my video editing when I have 2 hours of multiple 4K video loaded up it becomes extremely slow and laggy which really disrupts my workflow. My questions is, could I benefit from just upgrading the RAM on this current laptop to buy me some more time before needing to upgrade? Or is something like the CPU that can not be replaced the bigger issue here? I know this CPU only has 4 cores. I don't totally know the significance of that, but I remember it being a knock on the laptop when I was watching review videos 3 years ago. Thank you in advance! I appreciate any help. https://preview.redd.it/y7iftbfc6t0d1.png?width=1016&format=png&auto=webp&s=2092a8d4eaf9160618d4164a3d1aca51a228724e submitted by Several_Equal to GamingLaptops [link] [comments] |

2024.05.16 16:43 Indomie-Junkie Paradox of Choice in a Tech Career
It is paralyzing to have so many but all basic-level skills that I wish to grow and specialize in, and what makes it even more difficult is unknowing what my passion is. All of the non-technical people in my life encourage me to do something with what seems to them "impressive technical skills" instead of working 11 hours a day in a sales job that I hate, my family wishes I did something with my degree instead, I graduated two years ago as a biomedical engineer (and low-key I regret it now). Of course "impressive" is very subjective, and I realize that those people don't know exactly what the job roles are in any technical field, so I can't build up on those impressions as for them installing drivers for a new hardware and using a CMD makes them think I'm cut for an IT position, and for them a programmer is simply someone who makes software on a computer, and since I was able to create a calculator application in C# and build a website in HTML and CSS, they think now I'm all set for a career in programming.
The thing is, all of my knowledge in: - C# (Winform and Console apps only) - HTML, CSS - Database management and SQL (MS-SQL, SQLite) - Computers software and hardware repair (General IT entry-level skills) - Video editing (in adobe premiere, and other open-source video editing software) - Graphic design (in photoshop) - Flash game deisgn (very old hobby I had) - Technical drawing in SolidWorks - Java programming in Android Studio (I dabbled into it for a university project). - Digital image processing (in Matlab, also for a university class I had).
is at a beginner level. I never gave myself the time to master a thing, and I can't figure out what I should stick to.
For a long time, my dream was to get into game dev, but seeing how competitive and time-consuming it is and judging by the lengthy learning resources available which need to be followed by a protfolio that also needs time to build, and finally hearing about how it actually pays less than software development, I wrote it off. My 2 fellow engineer friends recommended either going for a DevOPS path, or a blender 3D modelling path. Before asking for their advice, I was aiming for a databases-related job because I enjoyed working with databases queries the most, but all of the job descriptions in my country seem to require a lot a lot more than just doing sql queries, so then I was drifted away by a third friend who is a web developer, he convinced me to try out the free bootcamp called "TheOdinProject" and I'm half way in already in their "Foundation" course. And my progress pace suddenly slowed down significantly at some harder topics. Why did I listen to the web developer and ignored the other 2 guys? Honestly I was afraid that being a bit slow at abstract concepts won't make the DevOps path easy for me, and the Blender route was as dreadful because it takes the double amount of time of Web Dev and DevOps as it requires a ton of practice but with the constraining working hours I currently have, that would be super difficult to achieve. So now I don't know what to trust, web dev looks to require as much dedication as the others and I don't know if I will have the motivation to pick it up and get up to speed as before after being stuck for a while now.
Thank you all for reading. Any advice would hopefully illuminate my way and clear up my confusion, so I'd really appreciate any insight.
Side notes: I'm not in the US. I can't quit my job because I have family responsibilities.

2024.05.16 14:25 Status_Vacation7846 Adam Driver, Tom Waits, Mayim Bialik, Indya Moore, Luke Sabbat and Charlotte Rampling Join Cate Blanchett and Vicky Krieps in Jim Jarmusch’s ‘Father Mother Sister Brother’
https://variety.com/2024/film/global/adam-driver-tom-waits-mayim-bialik-cate-blanchett-in-jim-jarmuschs-father-mother-sister-brother-1236004549/ “Father Mother Sister Brother” is a triptych, following three separate stories set in different countries and revolving around relationships between adult children, their somewhat distant parents and each other. The first part, “Father,” is set in the east coast in Northeastern U.S., “Mother” in Dublin, Ireland, and “Sister Brother” in Paris, France. Possibly one of Jarmusch’s most personal films, “Father Mother Sister Brother” is a “comedy interwoven with threads of melancholy,” and “character studies, quiet, observational and non-judgmental,” said the film’s description. The prestige key crew includes cinematographers Frederick Elmes and Yorick Le Saux, production designers are Mark Friedberg and Marco Bittner-Rosser, editor Affonso Gonçalves, costume designer Catherine George, sound designer Robert Hein and casting director Ellen Lewis.
Could this one be a player if it is ready by fall? I could see it premiering at Venice, or if time isnt enough, it might be pushed to Cannes'25. I know that Jarmusch films never click with the Academy, but you never know.
