Jump keyboard

I don’t understand why people enjoy the parkour in unity, all Arno does is jump around like a drunken monkey instead of doing what I’m trying to do, I don’t understand if it’s a keyboard>controller type thing or what. I for the life of me can’t collect the 34 flags needed in the parkour section alone in this mission due to how the parkour system is, the extra 2 seconds per flag isn’t helping either. And it’s not like I can call a friend for help or a random due to how broken the servers are now

$500-$600 optimally, possibly slightly higher

• Are you open to refurbs/used?
  No
  
• How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?
  Performance and battery life would be the most two important factors. Touchscreen etc. aren’t needed.
  
• How important is weight and thinness to you?
  Not very, something thinner would be more optimal but if it is a bit on the bulkier side that’s fine as long as it isn’t a brick.
  
• Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.
  Preferably on the larger end.
  
• Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.
  Mostly just spreadsheet/powerpoint stuff while often having Teams/Zoom running simultaneously. Being able to play games would be an added bonus but is a secondary thing - games such as Diablo 3, World of Warcraft, and any semi-recent PC exclusive games would be possible contenders.

Hi. I am the crazy 84 year old who plays video games with a mouse and keyboard because it helps with my eye and hand coordination. I have already completed Valhalla and Mirage but odyssey is so large and so much to do I doubt at my age I will ever finish. Anyway, when I go to engrave it takes forever!! It's there a way I can do multiple engraves at the same time? One more question. I suck at fighting Its just too hard f for me so it's mostly all stealth. When I do battle with a mercenary I try to be near water. I attack or shoot some arrows, quickly jump into the water, and when I get back to safe ground and do a quick save. The problem is that the mercenary regains health. Should that be happening?

1. With mouse and keyboard, I occasionally get this thing where I simply cannot strafe right. Input just doesn't work. I have a good keyboard and a good PC and this doesn't happen in other games. It gets me killed a lot.
2. Game feeling is inferior to COD (which I am not purchasing because I don't want to support their practices, but they do have the FEELING of moving and shooting down right), from moving to shooting to throwing a grenade.
3. Player movement is very erratic and inconsistent. I don't mind requiring headshots more than COD, I did after all play a lot of CS. But when people jump spam and turn in mid-air, it's not fun. TTK is way too long.
4. Guns don't do enough damage overall.
5. Guns take too long to level up.
6. Too few guns, and too many pointless attachments.
7. I don't like having abilities in the game, Intel Suit especially. Also why would a class have more hp?
8. The maps are very uninspired.
9. Not enough game modes.
10. No Hardcore mode.
11. Unpolished menu experience (Creating match freezing all inputs?)
12. Greedy prices for all cosmetics.

Very mid game. A chance to create a live service cod, which is what that franchise should have always been, but it was missed and I don't think it will ever become that.
I haven't TOUCHED ranked and yet playing this game feels super stressful, like I'm only doing well and keeping up when I'm 100% locked in. If i try to have a normal relaxing mindless game, I do very poorly.
I'll let it simmer for a while and see what it becomes.
Edit: sometimes I get put into a game seconds before it ends, and then I have to sit through the whole ending spiel without being able to go back into the menu - who thought that was a good idea? Can't tell what ADSing with a shotgun does - pellet spread seems the same.
There's always a knocking sound to my left after I die and it sounds like something fell on the floor in my room. Why is that? How do I turn it off? It's super distracting

If anyone has figured out how to get the stupid forced tutorial to read the steamdeck as a controller please let me know.. as of right now I'm stuck at the first platform because the onscreen keyboard doesn't allow you to hold keys or put two inputs at once i.e D and space to jump forward. I'm losing my mind trying to tap d and space to just get through it and hope I can fix in menu. The same menu that should be available to everyone before you're forced to play

When I was young I thought these political bands were out to change things, protest evil corporations, start revolutions, etc. Well their time came and went and nothing happened. How much of it was them leading us on versus how much was just fan imagined expectations is debatable. I totally get that they're just humans, they start off inspired to be a political nuisance, but once those big record sale checks start rolling in they start reconsidering the consequences of being politically influential and they slowly back down to just being "artists".
Is that how its always going to play out? Can we ever trust a political band ever again? Or will they forever just be that guy who starts mosh pits but jumps out as soon as it gets too dangerous?
But on the other side of things, the fans are also disappointing. How many SOAD fans have actually protested anything away from their keyboards? Didn't think so. I imagine this is probably why Zach De La Rocha walked away, he knew most of his fans were just suburban posers who weren't ever going to protest anything. Most of them also completely miss the obvious point of the music. A decade ago I rented a room in a house owned by a guy my age who just got out of the military, basically his parents were rich and gave him this house. He was just another gun worshiping moron who volunteered to murder people he knows nothing about over a lie he's too dumb to figure out, just to make his dad love him on the next level. Anyways, this douchebag was always listening to SOAD, I can't imagine what was going on in his head when he heard these songs, I only imagine the voices in his head were all characters from the movie Clueless telling him he's so cool and important.
Anyways, I still fully respect Zach, much more than Serj. Zach never stopped, he's always been out there being an activist, off camera and not trying to tell the press about it, where as when Serj walked away he just went off and made flute music, dabbled with lame gimmicks like that art museum app thing, and is now trying to shill his lame autobiography. Zach is out there protesting real shit while Serj took the safest route possible and is just trying to make people aware of a lame genocide that happened a hundred years ago.
I still love Serj, I loved all his solo music, but politically he's a total let down. Ugh and now he's doing all these lame interviews with The Office guy and whoever else, cringe.

I'm looking for a keyboard for my new PC, but I have almost zero knowledge about them. I currently use a cheap Dell keyboard for 7+ years now and it's more than enough for me, I don't need anything more fancy. I'm a graphic designer so I mostly use my PC for advanced work with many shortcuts. I also write a lot since I'm still in college.
The only thing that bothers me a lot in my current keyboard is key ghosting, which makes life pretty difficult as I like to play games every once in a while. And it doesn't let me, for example, press Shift+W+Space at the same time... so running and jumping in games is impossible.
To be clear, I don't want a mechanical keyboard, simply because I hate them. They're too loud for me, they are extremely tall/thick and I don't find them comfortable for writing and daily use (yes, I've tried some). Even the ones with the lowest profile you can find are way taller than flat membrane ones. Or maybe I just never found one.
So, in summary, I'm looking for a good keyboard that:

• isn't mechanical,
• is very quiet (I work at night a lot while someone is sleeping in the same room),
• is as flat as possible (I absolutely hate tall ones),
• doesn't have a very noticable ghosting
• has a numeric keypad and all the other stuff like PgUp, etc. (I'm a graphic designer so it's a must) I think it's called full-size or 100%,
• is wired (that's not a must but would be welcome),
• doesn't glow or at least has an option to turn it off/make it not as bright (that's not a big deal though)
• doesn't look bad (obviously lol)

Do such keyboards even exist? I've been trying to find something but I just couldn't. Could somebody suggest anything?
If it really is impossible to find something like that, are there any mechanical ones that meet all the requirements I've listed above and would suit me and my workflow? But again, I would very much prefer having a non-mechanical one.

I’m on ps5 and I play with keyboard and mouse but when I leave my character jumping I’m kicked for being idle when I had my character spinning I got kicked aswell how do I stay in server without being idle

Now that we have no pressing issues to discuss, let's talk about the keybings for PC, what I use and what problems exist right now
To start things off, I took a lot of stuff from this video

So check it out if you want to learn about different settings, but I want to focus on the keybindings itself

1. Stims on Q - easier to press in a clutch situation
   
2. Reload on Mouse Wheel Up
   

This helps a lot - after emptying a mag you can run back + sprint + reload at the same time which saves you a second or two
However there is a problem with the scope menu in that it does not allow to rebind the options from the mouse wheel and then you cannot change the scope without reloading when you mag is not full

Suggestion #1 - let us rebind the scope / fire rate / flashlight options to the other buttons OR make it so that you cannot reload or use any functions associated with the mouse wheel while the weapons menu is open

1. Ping on F - easier to use when you are running
   
2. Quick grenade on mouse wheel press - allows for greater control while strafing
   
3. Dive on mouse button 4/5 (in the left part of your mouse - depending on what your mouse has) - in every game I play, be it Witcher or Horizon Zero Dawn or Helldivers, I always spam dive as it is the most important movement to evade the enemy attacks and binding dives to mouse allows you to dive and run in any direction and get back up very quickly
   
4. Equipment menu on a far mouse button (I have these on the right) - allows you to drop the samples and other stuff without taking your fingers off WASD
   
5. Sprint on PRESS shift - I see no reason why you need to hold shift while running, this saves energy
   
6. Minimap on HOLD tab - if you're like me and use the minimap all the time to always be aware of how many enemies are in your vicinity and to quickly kill the chaff before they can call in the reinforcements, this helps greatly as you will never forget to close the minimap
   

However there is a problem with this when inside the mech or an HMG - the game bugs out and you often struggle to open or close the minimap

Suggestion #2 - seems like a bug, needs fixing

1. Disable auto-climbing in the settings and set climbing to HOLD space - don't jump over the supply drop anymore

10. Last but not the least - set the stratagem controls to your keyboard arrow keys instead of WASD - this way you will be able to run and call in stratagems at the same time
I only needed 1 game to adjust so it's not as difficult as it may seem

I first starting playing the series with the first and got comfortable with playing with the “Type B” control style (gun button as top face button and melee button as left face button) And I’ve been playing through the series with that exact set up ever since (except for dmc 2 because you can’t change the controls in that game, I don’t even want to play that game anyways). I’m on DMC: Devil may cry now and that and 4 has some moves where you are supposed to press the gun button and the jump button at the same time, causing me to do some claw grip shenanigans, these moves are few and far between and I barley use them anyways so I don’t really care. I hope there aren’t to many moves where I have to do this in dmc 5, and if there are they are moves I won’t be using a lot. But other than that I’m happy with my set up! Having the melee button be the what is used in most other games as the melee button feels more natural and comfy to me. But what about you guys? Feel free to comment your control set up! Whether it’s the default, a simple button switch, or a completely different controller (or keyboard) setup up!

What do you think, will any of the upcoming Snapdragon X ARM-based laptops be finally able to bring elegant, fanless silence to the world of Windows and Linux as well? Pixelbook still looks as if having arrived from the future.
I love my Pixelbook i5 (I wish now I had purchased an i7, and where I live, they were never available anyway, so there is no aftermarket either) but in order to make it usable, I had to remove Playstore support. Otherwise it became dreadfully slow for productivity. This limits its usefulness somewhat.
It is nearly impossible to discuss this on other forums due to myriad of people jumping in with sentences like "Laptops should never be fanless" "Performance!" etc. Yet, som of us know it has been possible for a while, despite some limitations -- I don't need my laptop to be the fastest in the world if it can be light, sleek and silent and adequately sufficient instead. )The new fanless Macbook Airs dont' suit my workflow due to some specific limitations in the OS and software that I need. And I'm sensitive to fan noise I've tried 5 different Intel laptops models over the past year in order to retire my almost ancient-seeming 8th Gen Intel Fujitsu) .
So Pixelbook is still my daily driver for lighter lap-work with its cracked touchscreen and great keyboard, despite its huge bezels by nowadays standards, and somewhat limited functionality after disabling the Android apps support for speed.

Purpose:

This thread will serve as a reference to link back to. If you've been linked to this thread, it's likely because you expressed issues regarding your Steam Deck and external display VRR support.
Upfront, there won't be a TLDR. Why? Because I've been on the internet long enough to know that the keyboard warriors would read the TLDR, get upset, and start banging away at their keyboards without understanding the full context of the issue. If you genuinely want the answer to this question, you're going to have to slog through this post. I apologize for that, and I will gloss over the lesser points to shorten this as much as I can.

Background

The initial VRR technologies that most people are familiar with were Nvidia's G-Sync and AMD's FreeSync. Both took different paths. G-Sync required a hardware module that was completely closed off to anyone but Nvidia. AMD's Freesync was a driver-based implementation of the VESA DisplayPort Adaptive Sync open standard, and is the start of the long path leading to the conclusion of this thread.
And while DisplayPort Adaptive Sync is not called this anywhere else on the net, I'm going to call it DPAS going forward, because that's a lot less to type.
DPAS itself is very basic. FreeSync, courtesy of AMD's driver, is where all of the magic happens. Things like LFC and response time mitigations are done by AMD as a means to compete with similar features offered by G-Sync via their hardware module. And while the hardware method has been and continues to be superior, AMD's method is close enough that the average person can't really tell the difference.
AMD would evolve this with a proprietary feature called FreeSync over HDMI, where HDMI-based monitors could implement FreeSync as the HDMI forum had not yet come up with a competing standard to DPAS (released in early 2013, whereas HDMI VRR would not see release until the end of 2017).
With the success of FreeSync, Nvidia decided to jump aboard with their "G-Sync Compatible" certification. This was Nvidia's driver-based implementation of DPAS, essentially, Nvidia FreeSync. And they brought with it some innovative features such as a half-refresh version of LFC that AMD still has not implemented in their PC drivers but did add to the Xbox One. Notably, however, Nvidia could not tap into FreeSync over HDMI. Instead, Nvidia went ahead with rolling HDMI 2.1 VRR into the G-Sync Compatible certification.
And here is where AMD arguably messed up. They did not support HDMI 2.1 VRR. They stuck with DPAS and FreeSync over HDMI. As a result, most AMD devices cannot use HDMI 2.1 VRR. Instead, you need to have a television that is Freesync certified, which uses the older FreeSync over HDMI standard. And this is not a Steam Deck limitation, nor a Linux limitation, nor even a Valve-induced issue. This is mostly on AMD. HDMI uses a different licensing structure than VESA and for reasons known only to them, AMD didn't pay it. So AMD's PC products (Steam Deck, ROG Ally, Radeon GPUs, etc.) don't support it. Console support is up to the console manufacturer - Xbox Series supports both HDMI 2.1 VRR and DPAS via FreeSync over HDMI so it works with older HDMI 1.3 monitors, whereas the PS5 only supports HDMI 2.1 VRR.

Steam Deck and VRR implementation

As the Steam Deck LCD did not ship with a VRR-capable built-in display, VRR support was not a huge consideration for the device at and shortly after launch. But support was added for external display VRR support as of SteamOS 3.5. SteamOS 3.6 brings with it some fixes as many otherwise compatible displays still have issues on 3.5.
But due to AMD's choices regarding HDMI, older HDMI VRR televisions (such as but not limited to the LG C9) will not support the Steam Deck's VRR toggle. You need a television that supports FreeSync over HDMI. Using LG as an example:

• LG C9 (2019) and older are strictly HDMI 2.1 VRR and will not support VRR on the Steam Deck.
• LG CX (2020) is FreeSync over HDMI certified. It released prior to FreeSync Premium being a certification tier, but it should behave similarly to the displays in then next bullet point.
• LG C1 (2021) and newer feature FreeSync Premium certification and generally work (though some have reported having to swap docks to get it to work, again, hoping for fixes in 3.6).

Bottom line is that, had their been a TLDR to this, it would have been that the Steam Deck does not officially support HDMI 2.1 VRR, and that statement absent context would make the under-informed extremely angry. I do hope the above context helps.

VRR isn't working for me, so what do I do?

Check your display's marketing and specs to see if FreeSync is listed as being supported, NOT just HDMI VRR or VRR.

• If FreeSync (over HDMI) is not supported, then your display is not supported via Steam Deck VRR, at least for the HDMI port. Now, if you've got one of those rare TVs with a DisplayPort, try that out!
• If FreeSync is supported and it's still not working - first check to see if your display has a DisplayPort. If yes, try that (some displays will be certified on one port but not both). If it's only HDMI and it's FreeSync supported, you can try some basic trouble shooting steps or just wait for SteamOS 3.6.

But what about the JSAUX 1201S and other HDMI 2.1 docks?

They are merely a middleman transferring a video signal from one device to the TV. They don't actively convert DPAS to HDMI VRR. If you go in hoping that this will fix your problem, and you don't have a FreeSync-certified display, you're going to be disappointed. That said, it's still useful. The official HDMI 2.0 dock is limited to 4k60hz, but this 2.1 dock does 4k120hz.

What about DP 1.4 HDMI 2.1 active converters and adapters?

Great way to get 4k120hz out of older GeForce 16/20-series cards that were limited to HDMI 2.0b. And because these supported both DPAS and HDMI 2.1 VRR, they worked beautifully. But the adapters were no better than the JSAUX listed above. Some Radeon users were fooled into thinking they worked (making HDMI VRR work), but ultimately the few that tried actual VRR tests (such as the pendulum demo) reported back that VRR was in fact not working.

• Reddit - HDMI 2.1 with VRR and HDR Support - Linux Gaming discussion about how HMDI 2.1 VRR is not available on Linux at that time due to the few implementations of it (Nvidia, Intel) used close sourced drivers, and AMD wasn't touching HDMI 2.1 VRR, open or closed source.
• AMD Community - Will AMD GPUs ever support HDMI Forum VRR 4K@120Hz on Linux? - I treat this as speculative but even their conclusion is the same - no HDMI 2.1 VRR.
• AMD Community - AMD announced Radeon™ Software will support HDMI 2.1 VRR - From 2019, claims AMD announced upcoming HDMI 2.1 VRR support. Using an exact text search, I could not find any AMD press release claiming this. And clearly, that never happened.
• Reddit - So AMD you promised us HDMI VRR support a year, or two ago where is it - Follow up to the above, further documenting that it didn't happen.

I’ve done something not many others have done and that is sticking to a shotgun all the way to level 100! Let me say it’s been a long and rough journey that can only be described as bitter sweet. My preferred input is mouse and keyboard so you can imagine how much of a pain it is to not only go up against “reg” guns but also controller players. That being said I’d like to tell you about my hair pulling journey as being the only shotgun user in my team since I started playing.
So we all know shotguns are not close to being good, they aren’t even close to being mid, they flat out suck right now and it’s honestly kinda unfair. You will lose some close range battles to marksman and snipers. You will hit your shots and not get a kill. So, if you do try to use any shotgun just use the double barrel because that’s the only one worth a damn against anyone. The default shotgun is by far the most inconsistent piece of trash I’ve ever used in a fps and the a-12 is as threatening as cake is to fat kids. DB is still inconsistent but more tolerable than the others because you can actually get a one shot kill but you only have two bullets in the chamber so hit your shots. And even when you do, pray they actually do damage. For example, I’ve had SO SO SO many non-kills from point blank range I feel like I should’ve hit gold 3 hrs sooner.
To be honest it was really boring to upgrade the DB because you unlock all the attachments for the gun around level 20 it feels like just nothing….until level 50, 75, and level 100. The only reason I even stuck with it was because I hate using meta weapons. But the overall feel of the gun is great if, you played csgo, valorant, or another tac shooter where your aim counts, you feel unstoppable at times, if the game decides to be consistent.
When playing the DB the only attachment that feels like it matters is the choke/barrel because shotguns are in such a bad state with hit registration that no matter how you build your class it will still performs okay-ish. Though it can get some kills pretty far and each time I did get a far kill I’d surprise myself. When they do fix shotguns the DB could be meta too. In order to do well with the db dropping 60+ kills in some games I have to rely heavily on the echelon invisibility to carry me. With snipers and jumpers you have to get close to even hit them so it was a no brainer to use the echelon. But don’t just use it for running at enemies it can be used for multiple things to help your gameplay. For instance, the reload on the DB is too long and you lose movement when you do reload so if I use both my shots I simply use my ability to dip and reload. Another use for the ability would be to reload cancel, when reloading the DB not only is it stupidity long but it reloads a shell one after the other. So, if I really needed just one shot when an enemy would try to trade me, I would let the animation play out until a single shell was loaded and use my invisibility to cancel and be ready for the fight. Movement is also very crucial for playing shotguns in general, if you know how to super jump you can get right into someone’s face quickly. But don’t get too carried away because I believe there’s an accuracy nerf when you jump or move too much.
Using and getting the DB to gold was fun when it worked and awful when it didn’t. Due to my ocd and inability to leave a gun without finishing its level cap, kept me going. Would I recommend the DB, no. It’s still very inconsistent and you will get mad or even just rage quit a few times. But if you’re someone who doesn’t rage and likes a broomstick i hope you do choose the DB. That’s all I wanted to say and now that it’s complete I’m installing because fuck this balancing.
