How to Pick the Right Air Purifier. Things to consider

Consider the Pollutants You Want to Target:

  • Allergens: Look for a purifier with a True HEPA filter, which captures particles as small as 0.3 microns, including dust, pollen, and pet dander.
  • Smoke and odors: Opt for a purifier with an activated carbon filter, which tackles smoke, cooking smells, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
  • Bacteria and viruses: Some purifiers use UV light or plasma ionization to kill airborne pathogens. However, their effectiveness and safety for long-term use are debated. Consider these features supplemental, not a replacement for true HEPA filtration.
Choose the Right Size for Your Space:

  • Air purifier capacity is measured in Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR). Higher CADR indicates faster air cleaning in a larger room.
  • The Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM) certifies CADR for smoke, dust, and pollen. Look for a CADR rating that covers your room size for the target pollutants.
  • A general rule: Choose a CADR at least 2/3 the square footage of the room. For example, a 300 CADR purifier is suitable for a 150 sq. ft. room.
Think About Noise Level and Energy Efficiency:

  • Air purifiers run continuously, so noise level is important. Look for models with decibel (dB) ratings that suit your preferences. Lower dB indicates quieter operation.
  • Energy Star certified purifiers use less energy, saving you money on electricity bills.
Additional Features to Consider:

  • Replacement filter costs: Factor in the cost and frequency of filter replacements. True HEPA filters typically need replacing every 6-12 months.
  • Smart features: Some purifiers offer Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing control through apps for scheduling, filter monitoring, and air quality checks.
  • Auto mode: This feature automatically adjusts fan speed based on air quality sensor readings.

What are the Benefits of Using Air Purifiers

Breathing clean air is essential for maintaining good health, and air purifiers offer a powerful tool to improve the quality of the air you breathe indoors. Here are some key benefits you can experience by using an air purifier:

  • Improved Respiratory Health: Air purifiers significantly reduce airborne pollutants like dust, pollen, pet dander, and smoke. This can be especially beneficial for people suffering from allergies, asthma, or other respiratory issues. By removing these irritants, air purifiers can ease congestion, coughing, and difficulty breathing, allowing you to breathe easier and experience improved overall respiratory health.
  • Reduced Allergens and Dust: If you struggle with seasonal allergies or dust sensitivity, air purifiers can be a game-changer. HEPA filters effectively capture allergens as small as 0.3 microns, including pollen, dust mites, and pet dander. This can significantly reduce allergy symptoms like itchy eyes, runny nose, and sneezing, leading to a more comfortable and allergy-free living environment.
  • Relief from Pet Dander and Smoke: Pet dander is a common allergen for many people, and air purifiers with HEPA filters can effectively remove it from the air. This can alleviate allergy symptoms triggered by pets and improve overall indoor air quality for pet owners and non-pet owners alike. Additionally, air purifiers with activated carbon filters can help reduce smoke particles and odors, providing relief for those living in areas with wildfires or those exposed to secondhand smoke.
  • Improved Sleep Quality: Clean air plays a vital role in getting a good night's sleep. Allergens and pollutants can disrupt sleep patterns by causing congestion, coughing, and difficulty breathing. Air purifiers can help by removing these irritants, creating a cleaner and more comfortable sleeping environment. This can lead to deeper, more restful sleep, leaving you feeling more energized and refreshed in the morning.
  • Reduced Risk of Airborne Illnesses: While air purifiers cannot eliminate viruses and bacteria entirely, some models with additional features like UV light or plasma ionization may help reduce their spread. Combined with other measures like proper ventilation and hygiene, air purifiers can contribute to a healthier indoor environment by potentially reducing the risk of airborne illnesses.

2024.05.14 05:47 eagle2120 [Very Long] Marathon, Angela, and Fractalverse. Murtagh Spoilers.

Hey folks -
I know I said I was done posting FV content, but as much as I was intending to step away, theorizing about stuff helps order my mind so I am back to posting. My retirement lasted all of a week 😂😂
I want to explore some of the concepts and inspirations of the Fractalverse from Marathon.
For those who don't know, Marathon is a video game series from Bungie (yes, that Bungie)... The series is often regarded as a spiritual predecessor of Bungie's Halo series.
Significantly for us, it is one of Chris' favorite games of all time, and a lot of the content from Marathon is used as inspiration in the Eragon/Fractalverse series.
https://twitter.com/paolini/status/1661742366028623874
Man, I hope the new #Marathon game is good. The original three were a huge, huge influence on me. Some of the best sci-fi writing out there.
One
If it's a game that doesn't use a mouse, like the old Marathon games, then I use 8426 (with 7 &9 for strafing) for movement and left-hand keys like space, command, option, etc. for shooting, swapping weapons, activating, etc.
Two
Hey, big Marathon fan, which is how I found your work. Been listening to your Leela cover a lot while writing.
Three
Marathon series, Halo, Mass Effect, and the Myst series (although those might be counted as fantasy).
Four
Myst (and sequels), the Marathon trilogy, Escape Velocity, Mass Effect 1-3, Halo 1-4, Skyrim, Oblivion, Portal 1&2, and more.
Five
Since no one guessed it, the sketch I posted earlier was from the end-screen of Marathon Infinity, last game in an awesome trilogy.
Six
@TheDragonUniver Ha! I beat the Vidmaster challenges in the old Marathon games, in the Total Carnage setting no less!
Seven!
@ndemordaunt Awesome. Glad to hear it. I've been playing Halo since it was called Marathon. 🙂 Hope you enjoy my future books!
Alright, I think I've proven my point. Let's get started.
First things first, let's talk about the Jjaro:
The Jjaro were an extremely advanced species--or an extremely advanced individual--which vanished from the Milky Way galaxy... The Jjaro possessed high-quality cyborg technology, such as that used to create the S'pht, as well as a star-destroying weapon known as the trih xeem, the ability to move entire planets by warping space around them as was used by the S'pht'Kr, some sort of time manipulation technology, and various ways of dealing with the W'rkncacnter
Sound familiar? Let's take it line by line with a few tangents along the way.
The Jjaro were an extremely advanced species--or an extremely advanced individual--which vanished from the Milky Way galaxy...
Hmm. Extremely advanced species. Who mysteriously Vanished. Check.
The Jjaro possessed high-quality cyborg technology, such as that used to create the S'pht
We'll get into this a bit later, but there is evidence that the Old Ones created/manipulated the Wraunai. Specifically from the Terminology section:
WRANAUI: sentient, space-faring race originating from the planet Pelagius... Some evidence indicates they may have been genetically modified by the Old Ones at some point in their distant past (Appendix III, TSIASOS).
Not a perfect fit, but lines up well enough. This next bit is extremely curious though -
The Jjaro possessed high-quality cyborg technology, such as that used to create the S'pht, as well as a star-destroying weapon known as the trih xeem
A star-destroying weapon. We haven't seen anything like that before... Or have we?
I've speculated on this in one of my previous posts; I think the "star-destroying weapon" is the black ball in this picture, which was some early concept art for TSIASOS.
You see the Black Ball heading for the sun? Check this out -
Compare it to the picture of the Trih Xeem.
Black ball with a trailing cloud, heading right for the sun? It's a perfect match with the concept art.
This is also significant for the World of Eragon, because:
MURTAGH SPOILERS BELOW
The visions from Azlagur all have him "rise" from the ground to "eat the sun"
Which is SUPER significant, because of the implications of the Marathon Infinity backstory:
In Marathon Infinity, a W'rkncacnter is imprisoned in the sun of planet Lh'owon. It is theorized by some that the W'rkncacnter's powerfully chaotic nature may be responsible for the jumps between realities seen in the game. When the Pfhor use a trih xeem device to send the star into early nova, the creature is released, to the horror and destruction of the Pfhor.
We will touch back on the reality jumping in a bit, but for now I want to focus on the "sun imprisonment" theme.
A cosmic-level baddie imprisoned in the sun. THAT is the endgame for Azlagur. Either he is a planetary-level villain, who will "rise" due to the Trih Xeem and Eat the Sun, releasing the equivalent W'rkncacnter, or he IS the equivalent W'rkncacnter, and will rise when the Trih Xeem is released. It all fits in with the concept art above.
And from this, we can deduce the overarching concepts of Angela's storyline.
Q: Will we get Angela lore? I feel like she could have killed Galbatorix and just didn't feel like it.
A: For those who don't know Angela is based on my sister Angela, because she breaks the fourth wall to a degree she has. Not only does she have plot armor, she knows she's in a story and can break the story itself. So, yes, she could have killed Galbatorix, but that would have made for a very bad story. That said, I do have an entire book planned around Angela, and it's very high on my list of books to write because it takes place before some of these other big stories I want to write. And that's also the difficult thing. I have my big storylines, and then I have a couple of one off side books I want to write, and it's just a question of time, energy and effort.
Given her appearance in TSIASOS, we can interpret that Angela is a "cosmic"-level character, who can cross time and space.
So... what's actually going on behind the scenes? We know she's been in/around Nal Gorgoth, and Tronjheim. She's definitely affiliated with the Draumar, and Tenga in some fashion. So... what's the actual story going on?
Let's take a look at the story of Marathon infinity:
Marathon Infinity begins as the Pfhor destroy Lh'owon using a Jjaro-derived doomsday weapon known as the Trih Xeem or "early nova". Unfortunately, the weapon also releases a powerful chaotic being: The W’rkncacnter, which threatens to destroy the entire galaxy. Because of the W’rkncacnter's chaos or by means of some Jjaro tech of his own, the player is transported back and forward in time, finding himself jumping between timelines and fighting for various sides in a desperate attempt to prevent the chaotic being's release.
So the weapon releases a powerful cosmic-level entity, which threatens to destroy the galaxy. And as a result, the "player" jumps around in time, jumping between timelines and fighting for various sides to prevent the being's release.
Sound familiar?
Jumping around in time and between timelines - that's what she's doing with the portals, the non-standard torque gates.
There are a ton of parallels with Angela and time (such as the references to her being a time lord), so for lack of better information, the most informed guess we can make is that she is trying to prevent the rise of Azlagur himself, or the creature freed by the death of the sun from Az "eating" the sun.
For lack of a better answer, Angela IS the player character from Marathon Infinity.
Alrighty, I could make several posts about the above, but for the sake of space and time, let's get back to the original passage.
the ability to move entire planets by warping space around them
Move planets by warping the space around them eh? That sounds familiar:
Then she was soaring through a nebula, and for a moment, she beheld a patch of twisted space. She could see it was twisted by the way it warped the surrounding gas. And from the patch, she felt a warped sensation, a feeling of utter wrongness, and it terrified her, for she knew its meaning. Chaos. Evil. Hunger.
Warping space around a planet. And Chaos... Sure sounds like the W’rkncacnter.
The last piece here also parallels with what we know about the series:
some sort of time manipulation technology,
Time manipulation - We know, based on various clues left throughout the series, that the Old Ones had the ability to manipulate time. Chris indicates as much here:
Right now no matter what way you swing it, we have issues in terms of time.
Correct.
Moving along, let's keep pulling the Jjaro thread together. The paragraph on Technology reads:
Jjaro technology is incredibly advanced and they have made many discoveries about the secrets of the universe. One of their ships, the Manus Celer Dei, was able to survive the closure of the universe, they uplifted the S'pht, defeated the W'rkncacnter, had mastered time control, had a station capable of compressing the mass and energy of a supernova into a black hole millennia beyond reckoning after it was decommissioned and abandoned, and a few of their artefacts were able to create a cyborg who could also survive the closure of the universe and escape it all together.
A station capable of compressing the mass and energy of a supernova into a black hole. And then it was decommissioned and abandoned.
Sound familiar, anyone?
The Great Beacons. That's what they are. The energy of a supernova in the form of a black hole, which were then decommissioned and abandoned.
We know the Great Beacons are no longer functioning. And it sure sounds like the description of a black hole (both in spacetime format, as a "whirlpool", and also visually)
and a few of their artefacts were able to create a cyborg who could also survive the closure of the universe and escape it all together.
Seeker? I'm not sure, but it sure has a lot of durability.
Alright, we're getting up there in word-count so I want to cut this short.
The last piece I want to talk about here are the parallels betwen the Wranaui and S'pht. It's not a perfect match, but there are a lot of overlaps between the two races.
First, the Wranaui:
WRANAUI: sentient, space-faring race originating from the planet Pelagius. Highly complex life cycle, with an equally complicated, hierarchical social structure dominated by Arms and a ruling form. Wranaui are naturally an ocean-based species, but through extensive use of artificial bodies, have adapted themselves to nearly every possible environment. Aggressive and expansionist, they have little regard for individual rights or safety, given their reliance on replacement bodies. Their scent-based language is exceedingly difficult for humans to translate. Even without technological augmentation, Wranaui are biologically immortal; their genetic-base bodies are always able to revert to an immature form in order to renew their flesh and stave off senescence. Some evidence indicates they may have been genetically modified by the Old Ones at some point in their distant past.
So, to summarize:
Let's compare that with the S'phet:
The S'pht were brought to Lh'owon by the Jjarro and Pthia as servants. The S'pht terraformed the planet from a barren desert into "marsh and sea, rivers and forests." When the Jjaro left Lh'owon after the death of "Pthia," the S'pht were released from their servitude, split into eleven clans, and leadership of the race was given to the S'pht royals.[6]
Genetically modified. Check.
The Pfhor forced them out of their typical forms, (as seen used by the S'pht'Kr) and into the strange garb of the Compilers and the armor of the Cyborgs.
Usage of "Forms". Check
After Pthia's death, Yrro scattered the S'pht across Lh'owon, separated them into eleven clans
Hierarchical society with different clans (Arms). Check.
The main two differences here are the usage of smell as a language, and the grew up in water.
Other than that, there are a TON of parallels.
Well, we're getting up there in word count and I've just started to ponder and fully understand the connections between the two series.
A few other random connections I noticed (I will add as time goes on):
Nmarhl and Narhl)
L'phet and S'pht
Heresey of Tfeir and Tfear
Alright, we are getting up there in word count, so I think that's it from me now. There are a lot more Eragon-specific relationships I've left out of here; I'll cover these in another post over on that subreddit.
Curious to see if anyone else has found other connections - Let me know what you think in the comments!

DEVELOPMENT OF THE PROJECT
Project financing
On February 20, 2024, the Company closed a bought deal private placement for gross proceeds of $28,751 and a financing package of US$50 million for the completion and ramp-up of PGP. The financing package consisted of a royalty restructuring and a cost overrun facility.
Construction progress key performance indicators
At the end of Q1 2024, overall construction was 98% complete, compared with 86% complete at the end of Q4 2023. With first gold having been poured on April 20, 2024 via gold recovered through the gravity circuit, the project construction is 100% complete on schedule and on the most recently provided budget of approximately C$339 million. Commissioning and ramp-up activities in the processing plant and in the mine continue towards achieving commercial production in Q3 of 2024.
Safety
The Project had no lost time injuries in Q1 2024. There was an increase in recordable injuries at the end of the quarter which in part, can be attributable to seasonal changes and the transition from construction to operations. As the Project continues its transition from construction into operations, focus has been placed on the ongoing development of standard operating procedures, in field job hazard analysis and worker training. There was a small increase in property damage reported in the quarter due in part to weather conditions and the onboarding of a significant number of new workers to the site. The re-enforcement of reporting to the operating team remains a key focus to ensure that all learnings are identified and applied to prevent re-occurrence and reflect in the future training plans. In Q2 2024, significant work will be placed to support the operational teams to begin to operate the newly constructed plant through the final stages of C4 and C5 commissioning.
Processing plant and site infrastructure
Mechanical and electrical work in the mill was substantially completed in Q1 2024 with minor associated systems and punch list items to complete. Focus has shifted to commissioning the process plant and ramp up as well as completing minor deficiencies.
Stage one of the tailings storage facility (“TSF”) raise was completed and accepted by the Engineer of Record for use. Earthworks activities in 2024 will focus on raising the spillway dam by three metres, producing material for the 2025 raise and advanced work on the Cascade Creek Diversion in preparation for the 2025 works and final completion of the diversion.
The new water treatment plant was substantially mechanically and electrically completed in Q4 2023 with some minor areas remaining. The high-density sludge circuit was commissioned in Q1 2024 and is advancing towards full ramp up. The MBBR circuit was substantially complete in Q1 2024 and will begin full commissioning as the process plant continues to deposit tailings into the TSF and feed nitrogen species into the MBBR circuit.
The site power reticulation was completed in Q1 2024. Sustaining capital works in 2024 will focus on reticulation to the Premier portal as well as the Big Missouri portal.
Mine development
Procon Mining & Tunnelling (“Procon”) a mine contractor with extensive experience in BC and the Golden Triangle continued to advance mine development at two portal areas: S1 about 9 kilometres north of the mill which accesses the Big Missouri and Silver Coin deposits, and the mill adjacent Premier Northern Light (“PNL”) portal which accesses the Premier and Northern Light orebodies. As of the end of Q1 2024, Procon had about 57 people on site, 40 of whom were miners and 10 were maintenance personnel.
At Big Missouri, Procon advanced development into several ore headings in the A zone, as well as reactivating the S1 ramp heading that goes to Silver Coin deposit. In Q1 Procon developed 936 metres at Big Missouri (258 metres in ore and 678 metres in waste, and by April 29, 2024, development advanced to 905 metres in waste and 507 metres in ore total in 2024. Including the development completed in late 2022 and late 2023, the total development to date is approximately 2,710 metres in both ore and waste. Productivities at Big Missouri have continued to improve, with availability of key equipment such as Maclean bolters being made a priority.
During Q1 2024, the geological team continued to encounter high grade material occurrences in both face sampling and probe hole drilling in multiple areas of the A zone. As previously reported, these occurrences are in or very near existing wireframes or logical extensions of wireframes. At the end of March 31, 2024, a total of approximately 30,000 tonnes of ore was mined from Big Missouri and stockpiled at Diego pit.
At PNL, Procon dealt with issues related to near surface structure and weak ground. These issues seem to have abated at the end of April, and Procon has started to make better progress as they move into the better ground conditions expected at Premier given what was seen historically. In Q1 2024 approximately 85 metres were advanced at PNL, and at the end of April this increased to approximately 150 metres as ground conditions improved.
Mining development is being advanced down into the Premier deposit for initial mining in the Prew Zone, with ore development now anticipated to begin in early Q3 2024, and initial longhole stope production following later in Q3 2024. The ramp has been strategically laid out to allow for underground drilling on the Sebakwe Zone in 2024 and will eventually connect a footwall ramp over to the 602 area at the southern end of the Premier deposit. Although progress has been slow, the quality of the resultant work with ground control and shotcrete arches has been excellent, allowing for a secure and stable ramp for the life-of-mine production to come from this area approximately 350 metres from the Premier Mill.
Recruitment
At the end of Q1 2024, total site recruitment has reached approximately 90% of the planned operational team. A key achievement was the successful recruitment for some challenging roles pertaining particularly to some of the maintenance roles, health and safety (specifically, mine rescue), and technical roles for the mine and processing area. Policies and procedures development have been ongoing throughout Q1 2024 and key documents will be rolled out in Q2 2024.
Permitting and Environmental Compliance
A Joint Permit Amendment Application (“JPAA”) was required to be re-aligned with the project completion dates and was submitted in October 2023. The JPAA underwent first round comments through February 2024 and second round comments were received in late April 2024, with our responses anticipated to be submitted in May 2024.
The air permit was received on March 25, 2024. The updated environmental permit PE-8044, including the sewage treatment facility discharge permit is anticipated to be received in late May 2024.
2024 EXPLORATION PROGRAM
Planning for the 2024 exploration program is in full swing with an anticipated start date in late June. There are several areas on the properties that will be targeted by new drilling. Near the Premier mill, several drill holes have been planned around the Prew and Sebakwe zones of the Premier deposit. The new holes will complement the existing drill pattern at Prew and test induced polarization geophysical anomalies from last year’s survey.
Additional drill holes have been planned for the Big Missouri deposit where underground development is rapidly providing access to different parts of the deposit. The new holes will be designed for resource conversion and mine plan addition at this deposit. Specific new drill targets have been identified at the Day Zone on the western edge of the deposit, where geophysical anomalies seem to outline previously untested mineralization along strike of known ore zones.
Additional exploration drill holes are targeting a large geophysical anomaly to the west of the Dilworth deposit that extends surface showings to the north onto Ascot’s PGP property. This target has a large strike extent and may require drilling over more than one exploration season.
The Company anticipates a drill program of between 15,000 and 20,000 metres distributed over the areas described above. The program will require utilization of two drill rigs into late September or early October 2024.
FINANCIAL RESULTS FOR THE THREE MONTHS ENDED MARCH 31, 2024
The Company reported a net loss of $6,208 for Q1 2024 compared to $7,589 for Q1 2023. The lower net loss for the current period is primarily attributable to a $2,170 decrease in the loss on extinguishment of debt and a $1,196 decrease in financing costs, partially offset by increases in other expense categories.
LIQUIDITY AND CAPITAL RESOURCES
As at March 31, 2024, the Company had cash & cash equivalents of $47,028 and working capital deficiency of $33,030. The working capital deficiency is caused by an estimated $23,024 as the current portion of the deferred revenue only to be settled with future production from the Project and the $25,180 value of the Convertible facility, which is classified as current due to the lender’s right to exercise the conversion option at any time at a variable exercise price. Excluding these non-cash current liabilities, working capital was $15,174. In Q1 2024, the Company issued 67,807,135 common shares, 10,164,528 warrants, and granted 110,000 stock options and 28,667 Deferred Share Units. Also, 100,766 stock options expired or were forfeited, 24,427 Restricted Share Units were forfeited, and 99,039 stock options, 137,533 Deferred Share Units and 158,726 Restricted Share Units were exercised in Q1 2024.
MANAGEMENT’S OUTLOOK FOR 2024
In 2024, the Company will transition from the construction of the mine and related infrastructure to the operation of the entire site and becoming a gold producer. Despite the challenges associated with this transition, there are many opportunities for the Company to grow and create value.
The key activities and priorities for 2024 include:
  • Making health and safety a priority in the commencement of operations
  • Completing the commissioning of the process plant
  • Completing the access ramp and starting the mine production at the Premier deposit
  • Continuing to expand the mine production and development at the Big Missouri deposit
  • Shipping and selling of gold doré
  • Advancing the exploration and infill drilling program on the numerous opportunities to increase resources
  • Compliance with the environmental requirements of the site and making sure water treatment and the tailings management facility operate as designed
  • Successfully transition from a mine developer to a mine operator

2024.05.10 17:22 A1rh3ad Sell me EQ

I've been contemplating coming back to FV to play with my 70ish necromancer for a bit or just starting over a new character to grind. After I leave old world content I usually quit not much after because soloing for that long makes me sad when I think of how the game is a ghost town and I feel left in the dust. I played a few TLP servers and the private servers P99 Blue, green and then the Quarm server but the game is "solved" and everyone is rushing to end. I do miss the grind and the QoL improvements on live makes the game casual friendly. My issue is I don't see the point in dropping the money to play a few levels molo and then get bored or overwhelmed by expansions worth of content abilities and AA. I want to play so bad and crave the grind, but a big part of me is saying it should be left in the past and the days of EQ are long gone. I'm not trash talking the game or anything I just can't figure out what to do. I wish there were more MMOs out there like this. I like the freedom to just set out to somewhere and grind a camp for hours on end with zero obligations. Should I come try to play for a bit or is there some other game that can scratch that itch? If I do come back what should I set out to do? I'm conflicted.

2024.05.10 15:43 boutell New US and Canadian CHAdeMO chargers in April 2024

Welcome to the March new chargers report, fellow Chadoomers!
Almost all of you are my fellow Leaf owners, hoping for just one new chargepoint on your favorite route, before the great dwarven CHAdeMO forges beneath the earth go cold for all time. Here's an update.
Here are all of the new US and Canadian CHAdeMO (Leaf fast-charging) stations that rolled out in April, according to the Alternative Fuels Data Center. You can fetch the data yourself here. Feel free to report inaccuracies to the AFDC.
For comparison's sake: in the US, there were 200 "new" (or updated) CHAdeMO stations added in March, with at least 200 chargepoints. To put it in perspective, there were 102 new or updated US stations in April of 2023. This month's report is surprisingly strong, given how late we are in CHAdeMO's lifecycle. It is unclear if this is due to a large number of refreshed stations, or a large rollout of new stations that happen to include at least one CHAdeMO chargepoint, but it may be the latter thanks to Inflation Reduction Act funding. In any case, it is good news for those of us with legacy vehicles.
Keep in mind that even EVGo has started to roll out stations where only some of the bays support CHAdeMO. This makes sense given that only Nissan still sells a CHAdeMO pure-battery-electric car in the US, and the newer Nissan Ariya model is CCS. The Mitsubishi Plug-In Hybrid Outlander PHEV also supports CHAdeMO.
Some of these chargepoints will be "refreshes," e.g. the provider replaced them with faster chargers etc. Some may be incorrect. This report is only as good as the Alternative Fuels Data Center data.
If you'd like to know about new chargers along your routes right away, or reading these monthly reports is just frustrating in your state, I've set up a free service that provides email notifications only when new stations actually open. You can sign up at evpov.com. I built it to help EV owners like myself (especially my fellow Leaf owners). You can pick other plug types as well.
To streamline this post, multi-chargepoint locations are listed with the number of chargepoints first. Some stations may actually have more CHAdeMO chargepoints than reported here, but most won't, because even EVGo has started to reduce the number of CHAdeMO chargepoints per station. So in the case of CHAdeMO I make a pessimistic assumption to avoid creating unrealistic expectations.
Even so, for actual trip planning I recommend using PlugShare. This report is mainly useful to understand trends.
If you get a chance, do check out reported new stations near you and add PlugShare reviews, which helps everyone.

2024.05.10 15:33 boutell New US and Canadian CCS chargers in April 2024

Here are all (*) of the new US and Canadian CCS (Level 3 fast-charging) stations that rolled out in April 2024, according to the Department of Energy. You can get the data yourself here.
These chargers are suitable for most new EVs on the market, except for:
  1. Tesla drivers who haven't bought the official CCS adapter yet. Certain older Teslas need additional work done to accept the adapter.
  2. Leaf owners like me, owners of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, and some owners of older cars that also use CHAdeMO. If you drive such a car, see my matching post in leaf.
Some of these chargepoints will be "refreshes," e.g. the provider replaced them with faster chargers etc. Some may be incorrect. This report is only as good as the Alternative Fuels Data Center data.
There were 330 CCS charging stations with a total of 682 chargepoints added or refreshed in April 2024, which is a major uptick in both stations and chargepoints. There were only 166 new CCS charging stations in April 2023, with only 267 chargepoints. Things are trending dramatically upwards.
Some part of this is due to Tesla Magic Dock stations. Previously Tesla didn't report these to the AFDC as CCS, but now they do. And that makes sense because all CCS drivers can use them.
NOTE: most Tesla Superchargers do NOT have magic dock as of this writing (all those shown in this report should have it). I recommend using PlugShare to locate compatible stations for your vehicle.
(*) "What about other Tesla Superchargers? Can't everybody charge with NACS now?"
It's coming for many makes and models, and for newer Ford models as well as a few other manufacturers charging at v3 and v4 Superchargers is already an option with a free adapter from the automakers. GM should release their adapter in the coming weeks. But since they are not open to all CCS vehicles, this report is not the place for them. Tesla's app provides the best guide to their locations, including locations that work with non-Tesla vehicles.
Other Notes
To streamline this post, multi-chargepoint locations are listed with the number of chargepoints first.
For serious trip planning, I recommend PlugShare. But by all means check out these reported new locations and submit reviews on PlugShare, which makes things better for everyone.
If you'd like to know about new chargers along your routes right away, or just prefer not to check this list monthly when new openings are rare in your area, I've set up a free service that provides email notifications as soon as they open. You can sign up at evpov.com. Or not! I don't really have a business plan here, I built it to help EV owners like myself. PlugShare has a similar feature.

2024.05.09 14:59 Comfortable_Swan_705 Random S34 GC take I cooked up this morning

As we all know, the cast was practically laughable at best, at least according to the theme. It’s become a meme for many years, and I had an idea as to why:
In the history of survivor, returnee seasons are more often than not ran by the small names. Amber and Rob were damn near nobodies coming into AS, Parvati was a “WTF” pick for FvF, etc. Survivor history has proven that the smaller names tend to become really good players on their second chance, so, perhaps, did Jeff/Production anticipate this trend by casting practically a whole cast full of nobodies/smaller names, hoping they’d all play at the level of their predecessors?
(Or am I just giving Mr Probst too much credit?)

2024.05.07 22:52 pinky-butterfly I can’t believe my eyes

I think I’ve been desensitized a lot , but I was watching the most recent episode of fv and I snapped out of it . I don’t wanna have beef with strangers so I’m telling you now we are both entitled to our own perspectives and I don’t want to argue but we can discuss if you’d like .
First let’s get this out of the way before the actual statement . Mike always starts with ang and then he makes up with her alone which is manipulation 101. Just saying . I know ang gets HATE. She’s a real person guys. You can not like her tv persona but be so fr some of the comments I see is crazy.
The narrative paints ang as the villain an every time. They all get together & yap about her. The temp changes when she comes in, there’s no show without her . When they were kids there was. They were all crazy, now it would just be them all chilling on paid vacations and idk about you but if I wanted that I’d watch the Kardashians. They do team up on her. I watched and thought to myself If ang did what Sam did they’d call her an instigator not a G . She was reintroduced as a joke and called names. It breaks my heart because I know if it were me I’d feel like an outcast too,
That said I do think her beef w Sam is a result of pent up anger towards how they treat her despite how they treat sam coming in. She wasn’t hazed. But it’s not sams fault she doesn’t deserve that , but to act the way she does as a 35 yo women is mean girl . She wants to act like she’s mature but stooping to someone who you deem childish’s level is not mature. Not switching chairs to see what happens , the TikTok is not funny bc if ang did that they’d all team up and be mad at her . Her dming is delusional but the no social rule was breached w Sam and it was not brought up till the dm
The way they talked to 2.0 imagine if they talked to Lauren like that when Mike did something ? Also if 2.0 was taking advantage of ang and her hard time and her low self esteem which they add too then why are they making her the bad guy? There is such a bias . You can’t say any is the only mean girl .
But I lost my mind bc I realized how are you gonna act like this at your big age? Gossiping. Fighting over dms, the TikTok , teaming up , all the poop jokes while ang is so upset. The dm to that player, if her husband didn’t answer I really don’t think I’d care personally , my man and I woulf laugh about it . It’s just some bojack horseman behavior , I can’t take the immaturity anymore . There isn’t an old and new you fighting , there is u as a child and an adult all your toxic behavior isn’t quirky it’s pathetic and immature . You get paid to vacation .I’m 10 years younger work my assoff and won’t even be able to afford a trip this year . Gross up I don’t feel bad for any of you . Strangly the only ones I have a little respect for are Nicole and ang bc ang keeps working dispite how she’s treated & Nicole lets more go and focuses more on her actual family and knows these are just coworkers and friends not a cult

2024.05.07 20:49 RoryTate My first successful graveyard craft: fractured 3-mod chaos res/%ms/life boots. A guide to how I made approximately 200 div in just one weekend.

TLDR - They say an image is worth a thousand words.
Wealthy Exile Graph
I went from a respectable stash value estimated at 365 divines (that's raw currency, not including character investment), and nearly doubled that to around 615 divines in about three days, all thanks to a very simple crafting strategy: creating 3-mod fractured boots with a focus on getting chaos resistance, movement speed, and life (in that order).
Now I have to admit, my early league experiences with graveyard crafting were absolutely terrible. Sitting idle in my hideout would have been a better use of the time I wasted in the Necropolis. However, I knew that the potential was there for making great items, if I could only gain some experience in its proper use. So I resolved to learn about the mechanic once I had some spare time, and had farmed up enough initial materials to try and build a full graveyard on my own. Opportunity came knocking when I needed some upgraded boots to start switching to an omni build (and unfortunately – or fortunately I guess in the end – no boots existed for sale in SC trade with the mods I wanted). So I went on craftofexile and slapped together a quick and horribly unoptimized necropolis recipe (the web interface on that site for crafting with coffins is not very intuitive I must say, but in giving us a functional tool for a temporary league mechanic I won't complain), and despite my amateurish fumbling in theorycrafting my first graveyard, I got lucky on my very first try!
Necropolis Boot Craft Result 01 2024-05-04
I finished off this craft by using a Deafening Essence of Loathing and bench crafting a blocking prefix then exalt slamming a suffix, which landed me something valuable on the first/second attempt I think. However, it wasn't what I needed for my build, so I replaced the blocking prefix with a better bench craft and decided to just sell those first boots and try to craft another. I mean, it it seemed so easy, right? Yeah...not so much. It turns out that getting those three fractured mods is not a guarantee by any means. At best the craft seems to land at around a 26-27% success ratio, which was worse than I had first hoped. So I unfortunately whiffed on my next 5 attempts, which was frustrating. Though that turned out to not be so bad in the end either...but more on that later.
Here's a screenshot of the first sale I made, to show the kind of final crafted boots I'm talking about.
30 Div sale
These boots sold almost instantly for a hefty 30 divines, so obviously I was encouraged to do more. Before I get to the results of all the crafts I did, here is the crafting process I used. First the graveyard craft itself:
Graveyard craft
Note: this is probably version 7 or so of many different iterations I tried with different mod weightings, after learning about what worked and what didn't within Necropolis, and once I got better at target buying the final materials I needed.
This graveyard isn't optimized to min/max coffin placement with row/column boosting or anything like that. I just wanted a simple, relatively cheap method that didn't take a lot of planning (the common components in this configuration don't really warrant the extra expense anyway). My goal was to be able to slap down coffins as I acquired them, placing them wherever an open grave existed until I could pop out a new set of boots every few hours or so. Craftofexile gives this configuration a bit better than a 1 in 4 success rate (which is around what my small sample size worked out to, though my initial "slapped together" badly done recipes were probably closer to 1 in 5 odds or thereabouts). The great thing about this craft though was that even the whiffs turned out to sell for a nice profit (see the full album of sales below).
First, here is a (hopefully) detailed crafting guide:
  1. Craft the boots in the graveyard using something near the recipe I've shared (a different non-Evasion base can of course be selected and still make a profit, but if you don't choose a dex/evasion base, the boots cannot roll the valuable Spell Suppression mod later in this process...just FYI).
  2. Use a Deafening Essence of Loathing (3c each...very cheap this league) on the boots (or a different essence if you want some other mod besides elemental avoidance). The three fractures work great with the essence, since they mean you most often end up with just the 1 added essence suffix, which makes the next steps super easy. If you happen to get extra prefixes and suffixes after the essence is applied, you can try annulling them off (I had way more annuls than essences sitting around, so using an annul made economic sense for me, but if your essence is less than 5c in value, you're likely better off just applying the essence again). Whatever you do, you are looking to have just the essence mod before continuing to the next step (unless of course applying the essence gives you a valuable fifth or sixth mod already, but that is very unlikely, so I'll assume an exalt slam is needed moving forward in this guide).
  3. How you continue now depends on whether the fracture began as a 1 Suffix 2 Prefix item (the best config), or if it's 2 Suffix 1 Prefix. Let's start with the more valuable 1S2P case. You want to bench craft a cheap blocking prefix mod (like 25-34 mana, which costs 3 augments) and then exalt slam a suffix. You're looking to get T1 light/cold/fire res, or T1 dex (T1 stint mod(s) on a different base) from the exalt. The holy grail is of course exalt slamming T1 spell suppression on dex boots. Tier 2 of any of these mods is still quite valuable, so the great thing about this craft is that there's a wide range of decent suffix results that you can get. For the 1P2S case, the goal is a bit simpler. Depending on whether movement speed or life is missing as a prefix, the goal is just to exalt slam some prefix that isn't a low roll of those, and that isn't terrible. So I would again block Mana with a cheap bench craft, and then exalt slam and accept anything that wasn't the lowest tier possible, and then replace the temporary bench mana craft with whatever was missing between movement speed or life. There's nothing much to be gained from multiple essence and exalt slams in the 1P2S case, so I'd keep the costs low and not bother with more than a few attempts in this case. Considering the wide range of good results in both cases for this step, I ended up spending around 100 essences and 70 exalts in total over the 13 boots I crafted to produce something that could sell for multiple divines. The handful of annuls I used on occasion aren't worth factoring in to the costs. YMMV, and there can easily be a bad run of wasting 10+ essences at this step, but in practice I often hit something good in the first two or three tries. That's around 50-60c average cost to get an acceptable second prefix or suffix mod on the boots.
  4. After repeating step 2 and 3 until you've hit something good, you then bench craft on a good final prefix to replace the blocking mana mod (I chose evasion/life for this). In order for the item to sell, I recommend you finish the craft with some eldritch currency. Trying to sell the fractured base raw without essence or eldritch mods is probably going to be very hit and miss (mostly miss), since buyers prefer a finished item. Luckily I had a bunch of eldritch orbs on hand to spare, so I crafted lesser prefix mods on every pair of boots I made (except one where I accidentally selected greater eldritch embers...no big deal, it only took a few tries to hit something good, at which point I realized my misclick). The list of acceptable exarch mods was as follows: action speed, movement speed, chaos res, onslaught effect. Acceptable eater mods were: cooldown recovery (travel or global), avoid ele ailments.
Using the above process, here's a gallery of all the subsequent sales I made after the initial 30div sale:
29 Div sale
22 Div sale
20 Div sale
13 Div sale
9 Div sale
7 Div sale
7 Div sale (different item)
6.5 Div sale
4 Div sale
And finally, the boots I wanted for myself finally popped out on attempt #12!
Agony Stride
I could probably sell these for 50 div (or maybe more) if I wanted, even though they don't have perfect T1 spell suppression. I'm happy enough wearing them right now though, so they're not for sale at the moment. Two other boot crafts that were very bad whiffs haven't sold yet, but I think they should make a couple div each when/if they do sell, which should at least cover my costs for those two graveyards. Overall, this craft seems reasonably close to being guaranteed profit, at least based on my limited results (of course market conditions may change if crafts like this start flooding the SC trade site).
If anyone wants to try this for themselves, here's a screenshot of the coffin shopping list from the sudos graveyard that I built:
Coffin Shopping List
Again, the nice thing about this craft is that you can just throw the corpses in any available grave, without too much that can go wrong.
And now a long and verbose list of all my lessons learned while exploring this mechanic. Graveyard experts and anyone who isn't interested in reading my tales of sorrow and woe can probably ignore the rest of this post. :-) Those who are interested in trying this out and are unfamiliar with how the graveyard mechanic works should take note of the many mistakes that I made though.
An important note about the shopping list items: only two +Item Level coffins should be needed, as long as one of the coffins buried is ilvl 84 and none of the other coffins go below ilvl80 (this is based on my general understanding of how crafted ilvl seems to work, and what showed for me in the item properties as I buried different ilvl coffins in the graveyard...unfortunately, there's no real clear FAQ around this that I could find despite much searching, and I don't claim to be an expert on the mechanics, as I'm sure this craft is not 100% min-max'd...but the great thing – once again – is that this configuration doesn't need to be perfect to produce sellable results, as shown by the variety of sales I was able to make even with only 2 of the desired mods). If you only use ilvl 80-83 coffins, you'll have to replace one of the non-mandatory corpses with a third +Item Level to get the boots to ilvl 86, or else they can't hit the "35% movement speed" that this craft guarantees.
Another note: the shopping list from sudos is a bit misleading in spots. For some reason it says 87 trades are needed, but if you add up the actual numbers the graveyard I built is full at 88 coffins. Not sure why the summary section thinks one coffin is missing. Also, the estimated prices for coffins are much higher than I ever paid for materials in my experience. I guess if you bought everything in bulk for an instant graveyard the total cost could end up in the 7-10 div range, so that may be why it shows that high estimate. However, I was able to buy things much cheaper in a reasonably short period of time by grabbing singletons and small bulk sales (interestingly, large bulk sellers never seemed to respond to my whispers for coffins compared to normal trade site whispers...that lack of a response was consistent even when trying to buy bulk at over double the price that I was usually willing to pay, so overall I found way more success using methods like live search to pick up individual corpses than any other manner of acquiring the coffins I needed). The chaos and fracture coffins make up the majority of the cost of this graveyard, so they are the priority when buying materials. I could usually pick up the 32 chaos coffins for around 3-5c each, even in bulk. The 12 fracture coffins ranged from 10-15c each (those prices were a bit more volatile and sometimes jumped up to 20c). The speed coffins cost about 4-5c each. So again, the sudos pricing is very misleading and far too expensive IMO. I estimate that I averaged around 3 div in final costs for each graveyard, once I had a handle on the best configuration for the craft.
Basing my total costs on that 3 divine average would put my expenses at 39 divines for thirteen graveyards over the course of several days. My total revenue was approximately 200 divines from the resulting items (150 divines earned in sales plus an estimated 50 divine item that is being used on my build). That means I turned a profit of around 160 divines using this strategy! Those are pretty good numbers I'd say. The wealthy exile graph does show a much larger jump in wealth than that, to be fair, but to be completely transparent that jump in wealth also includes my normal mapping profits over that period. And that's the kicker in all of this: I was actually focused for the majority of the three days – Friday, Saturday, and Sunday – on just running maps, during which I farmed up 4 veiled orbs and a valuable assortment of div cards, scarabs, and the like. I only built graveyards as a break between chaining maps and while cooking meals/eating, and late in the day when I didn't have the energy anymore to rush maps, etc. Considering how those 4 veiled orbs were selling at 13 div on the weekend when I took the wealthy exile screenshot, and they are now estimated at 16 div apiece, though actual selling price is probably a few div higher atm, that's a lot of primary profit while getting graveyard revenue "on the side". Also, I modified my atlas to run a sbox/betrayal/necropolis strategy once I understood the true value of the graveyard mechanic, and I ended up selling a bunch of meatsack allflames (5 for 8 div) as well during this switchover in strategies. Plus there were a lot of other profits from other sales. Anyway, all that I'm trying to say here is that the wealthy exile numbers from the graph aren't very exact in terms of estimating the graveyard profits alone over these three days, given my actual playstyle was not focused on building graveyards.
One bad mistake I made at the outset of this, that I do want to share with anyone trying this kind of crafting, was to try using the "Increased chance for prefix modifier" corpses. I was disappointed when they didn't seem to help much in giving me the two prefixes and one suffix crafts like I was hoping they would (again, the most common way this craft "whiffs" is by producing two suffixes and one prefix). So I posited that weighting for more prefixes would give better odds to the craft. However, I have learned since that the "prefix" corpses don't really function as I had hoped they would, and they ended up working against the "rarer defense" corpses I was burying by increasing the defense mod weighting, and adding weight to all the possible prefix mods, which just muddied the overall pool in unwanted ways. It didn't seem to hurt things too bad in practice, and I had reasonable successes while using a few of the prefix corpses, but as I upped the number of them in my early graveyard testing and got a couple of unexpectedly poor outcomes, I chose to remove them in my later iterations after researching the actual function, and – most importantly – after understanding from the sales what was vital in achieving value.
Because the mod priority in this craft is clear and unequivocal: chaos res >> movement speed >> life. It's easy to bench craft high +life on boots if that mod is missed. The lack of landing 35% movement speed is a bit of a downer, and it's not ideal of course, but it can be reasonably fixed by bench crafting a movement speed/onslaught mod, and the boots will still sell for a tidy profit (as shown by one of my sale screenshots above). So the prefix mods are actually the lower priority in a sense, even though you want to get two of them in the best possible case. In the end, it's the lack of chaos res that can't be replaced with a bench craft. So that's why I settled on using a whopping 32 corpses of "inc% chance of chaos res", and accepted whatever RNG decided between getting 1P2S or 2P1S splits. That many chaos coffins is admittedly a large amount to have to gather, but it should give slightly more than 9 in 10 boots that land the much sought-after chaos resistance (I ran a few simulations in craftofexile around this), which from my experience is crucial in getting the expected profit out of this craft.
When pricing items to sell, I chose to be very aggressive to try for quick sales. I started out at exactly what I thought the boots might be worth, and kept lowering the price every half hour or so while going back and forth from mapping. If someone whispered a reasonable offer to me that was below my set price, I just accepted it and didn't even bother haggling. So don't take the screenshots I shared as the absolute value for each item; I suspect a few of them could probably sell for a bit more if I had tried to wait or barter a bit.
Finally, an important lesson I learned in my crafting attempts is that the "Reroll explicit modifiers 6 times" corpse does not affect fractured modifiers. Unfortunately I wasted a few of those coffins – and the opportunity cost of using that grave slot for adding more chaos res weighting – on my first couple of attempts, until I realized they were doing nothing based on the low fractured mod rolls I would sometimes get. I later confirmed that fracturing happens before rerolling, from reading a few forum posts that explained the functioning of the mechanic. At least I know I won't make that mistake ever again.
That's everything I can think of to mention. Thanks for reading all the way to the end!

2024.05.07 15:55 futurepat Where to burn lesson L.106+?

I started running a 6-box on FV with the free heroic characters. For levels 100-106, I just did Gribble and Anniversary stuff. I guess Gribble xp takes a nose dive at 106, so I started doing some CotF progression. Achievement / progression XP doesn't really some in fast and consistent like the Gribble HA's did, so it doesn't seem like a valuable use of Lesson of the Devoted.
What should I be doing to burn Lesson each day? Also, are the "Glyph of Stored Experience" worth getting from my progression hunting? Are they affected by XP mods like Lesson of the Devoted?

2024.05.06 20:54 Sensitive_Water_4630 Major confusion on BEY

Major confusion on BEY
Okay so this question causes major confusion in the FI section for level 1 and maybe someone can give some clarity. Thus far (all chapter), Bond equivalent yield has been described as the Add-on rate in terms of 365 day count (ie. FV-PV/PV x (365/# of days), in order to compare money market securities with YTM of regular bonds, and can be found from a discount rate or Add on rate. makes sense
Until the final question of this chapter... when given the YTM of an annual pay bond and asked to find the BEY (bond equivalent yield). They are telling us to convert to semi-annual basis them x2 as if we are using the formula for EAR and working backwards to find YTM ie EAR = (1 + ytm / 2) ^2 where we would actually input EAR as YTM in this case.
So, is the formula different for BEY because it is a Capital market security and not a money market security, as they are quoted on YTM basis and not (discount / add-on). If so, I will just use this weird interpretation of the EAR formula nd substitute EAR for YTM and YTM for BEY as it will give the correct answer. Would love some clarity.
Thanks and sorry for the long blurb

2024.05.06 01:06 Acceptable_Range4325 FITFO is looking for members to expand new clan!

Hello all, trying to recruit for the clan for an upcoming tile race/bingo we want to hold! :)
A bunch of friends and I decided to leave the clan we were previously in (it was just a streamer's clan) to build our own based around PVM and keeping each other accountable. We weren't sure if we wanted to expand but we ultimately decided to go forward with it.
Currently we only have 35 members, majority of which are long time friends with a few newer members. We run raids everyday and dedicate a day or 2 out of the week to do group boss content with some of the lowemed level players; such as mass Scurrius or GWD!
We're accepting anyone currently, new or veteran. We have a handful of newer players in the clan we help keep motivate and push every day and even an entire channel in our discord to keep up with their achievements to watch them grow :)
We are mostly made of US/CA players mixed between East and West coast with a few EU players as well so there's generally at least a few people on at all times. We're happy to accept anyone from anywhere in the world!
If you have any questions let me know and I'll be happy to answer them! I'll post our discord below <3
https://discord.gg/DR6YvkFvUa
You can also add me in game or discord if you’re interested in joining or have questions but don’t want to join the server just yet!

2024.05.05 12:23 monsieur_bierce What are some of the hub zones where I can meet others? (FV)

Hey folks, brand new player here. I decided to roll my first toon in FV, and I'm aware it's normal for it to be top heavy and not populated in lower level zones. Though from time to time I want to visit larger hubs where I can meet higher level players, ask questions etc. Every other MMO I've played has hotspots where people flock to show off their outfits/mounts and trade, so I'm sure EQ has something similar. Which zones would you say are the hotspots for live servers?

2024.05.04 17:01 WhiteHawkeReborn "What is your Headcanon about this?" Day 32: Shiki Eiki's Height

Day guide
Welcome to Day 32 of WiyHat?. Today's topic is Shiki Eiki, Yamaxanadu, The "Supreme Judge of Paradise". Specifically, we will discuss her "height".
This is because Eiki's height was seemingly meant to be tall in her original appearance, for anyone who saw PoFV's endings.
But, these endings were drawn by ZUN, and most fans tend to actually dismiss the proportions of the characters he draws, usually so they can then shape them how they would prefer. In particular, Eiki's subordinate, Komachi, often gets portrayed as tall, partially thanks to her playable appearance in TH10.5 (SWR), being a large character and being one of the few with a canonical design that lends well for cleavage.
Let's just say Komachi's often stacked in fanworks.
How does this affect Eiki? Well, apparently, a lot. See, contrast is a good way to make character dynamics immediately visual and fun: the famous mangaka Akira Toriyama would often create a "tall guy, short guy" dynamic, with the short person usually being the boss of the taller one. It was a very effective way of making the characters memorable, even if the readers sometimes didn't care about them in the end.
So, fans who liked portraying Komachi as tall and busty would often end up making Eiki short and flat.
Now, for what it's worth, while SWR might have been partially to blame, it really didn't imply anything about Eiki's design itself. Fans who portrayed Eiki as short were somewhat of a minority then.
The big culprit of Eiki being commonly interpreted as really, really short is possibly this image right here.
Being drawn by a contractual formal artist in a canonical work, it's likely people took that art as "proof" Eiki was canonically really short in comparison to everyone (especially Komachi), giving them carte blanche to draw her as petite from here on in, sometimes due to preference, but usually as a contrast to her voluptuous subordinate. (Of course, Moriki Takeshi had a tendency to draw everyone in "loli" form...why this only affected Eiki's fandom portrayal is a big hole in my argument, as the likelier cause for Eiki being often drawn often in petite form was probably influenced by multiple popular fanworks along with that one, such as the "Convictor Yamaxanadu!" AMV, or the fan anime Memories of Phantasm's design. It's easier to just point at the above art though, and it did come before most other cases, way back in 2009.)
So, that's all well and good, but why am I talking about this character's height specifically, anyway?
Well, it's because of the divide between Eiki's real fans and those who like portraying her at a surface level (if even that). There's a fairly common thread that those that like Eiki because of her PoFV personality will portray her as tall, while those who are more interested in creating a fun dynamic with her subordinate and portraying her as someone who's obsessed with convicting people to hell for the most minor of reasons (which is a good deal contrary to her PoFV personality, where she's actually trying to help sinners from being condemned to hell.) will be just as comfortable with her being short.
The real fans have gone as far as saying she's probably one of the most misinterpreted characters in the whole franchise because of this. While that might be true, I'd like to point out Eiki is notably really popular despite how little she appears in canon, reaching 25th last year in the yearly popularity poll. Her subordinate, Komachi, despite being often portrayed as sexy and having a lot more canonical appearances, only reached 88th.
So clearly, despite Eiki's misrepresentation in fanworks, it hasn't hurt her popularity in the least. In fact, it might have outright helped it, carving out a niche for her no other Touhou character can fulfill.
But, enough about what others think: what do you think? Is Eiki short? Tall? Average? Or something else? There can be some nuance here: you might prefer her PoFV personality, but not mind her being short. Or maybe you think she's tall and busty like her subordinate.
Or maybe she's huge and towering, like bkub's comics sometimes portray her.
Whatever it is, vote or comment below about it.
Eiki is...

2024.05.03 23:10 Passn_wind Will there ever be a PvP TLP server?

I played on TallonZek 99-04 and loved it. I just came back and have been playing on FV to see if I still remember any thing. I'm enjoying it, and plan to play one of the TLPs coming soon. I would really enjoy a +/- 8 level PvP server to fool around on.
