2024.05.13 22:12 GlitzyHavoc Essential Artists Every Daft Punk Fan Should Listen To
When it comes to similar acts to Daft Punk, there's a myriad of artists out there that fits the bill. So I have made a table of artists that I believe every Daft Punk should listen to.
The selected artists are based off my observations & personal opinions. I know some of them may be a stretch but I'll explain them if needed.
The artists are separated by albums / era (I go more into detail
here). I may expand on it and add some more
Edit: I added Teachers and move some artists around
Is there any artists I should include?

2024.05.13 14:09 Waste-Ad33 My study pattern, tips and tricks, and guide to score 90+ in your domains. (Eng/Pol/socio/Econ/Legal). Y’all can dm me for notes as well.
Hello class 12 humanities students! I just received my class 12 results, and am sharing my study pattern, tips and tricks, and guide to score 90+ in your domains. (Eng/Pol/socio/Econ/Legal) Jitna jaldi shuru karoge, it’s better. Believe me!
For context, my aggregate scores were 95% I have a full in polsci as well!
I’ll go subject wise. Lmk if y’all need any other help!
Anyone who wants extra question papers, or material, can dm me :)
SOME COMMON POINTS
-> Questions get repeated more often than u notice in humanities. The answers expected from u oscillate around a select few topics. They alter the wording and present the questions.
-> NEVER FOLLOW GUIDEBOOKS BLINDLY. They have multiple discrepancies, and can misguide you
-> KV notes (especially the ones by Ranchi and Chandigarh), Edudel, and jawahar navodya vidyalaya notes are top notch. Do refer to them.
-> NCERT is your holy grail, even for economics. Read it very very well.
-> 5-6 markers ke lie always make mind maps after your answersin your core subjects.
-> Never write para style for theory subjects. Make crisp and clear points acc to the marks of the question.
-> Language mein para answers always.
-> questions at the end of the chapters are v important. Never miss them.
-> you should practice papers in real test like conditions to ensure getting used to the pattern and the environment.
—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
::English::
Never, I repeat, never take English lightly. My marks were cut in English purely because I made the mistake of taking lit. section, especially Vistas lightly.
The best way to study English Lit. is to make short notes of each chapter, and they should have: - Keywords, poetic devices
- Theme - Character Sketches - A self prepared outline of the story/poem. This should have some important lines from the text that u quote, and some quotes from outside that are related to the main idea of the story/poem. U can also prepare model answers.
-> REVISE THESE NOTES ON A REGULAR BASIS.
-> Remake and re-remake them on rough sheets before exams. This helps retain more.
Clarify the updated writing section formats with your teachers before your mid-terms. Try making model answers for each chapter. For reading comp., I believe understanding the format of the current year is what u need.

—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
::Political Science::
This subject is very interesting! 12th pol is fun and easy.
****start with world pol
-> For end of bipolarity, read Cold War era first. It creates a good base, plus helps u a lot if you’re prepping for cuet! -> mind maps!!!! Always make mind maps. It helps a lot. -> globalisation, environment, security ko lightly mat lena. Very scoring but can also drop your marks if you don’t prep them well.
**** indian pol
-> chronological order mein jaana here is better. Maybe club chapter 2 and 5. -> indian pol is much easier. Make detailed notes for indian pol.
NEVER TRUST POL GUIDE BOOKS!
*
maps and cartoons are important. Maps of Indian pol and cartoons of both. Mere paas pdfs hai of all the cartoons and maps if y’all need em*
BEST RESOURCES:

https://edustud.nic.in/edu/SupportMaterial202324/12/12_polscience_eng_sm_2024.pdf 2.Human at Ease. Poorva ma’am’s classes are the best for sure!!
- Notes banao, ya phir make questions out of each topic and create answers and use as notes, or do both.
- PYQS (last 13 years)
————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
::Economics::
Economics mein IED is very simple, but macro (esp numericals) can baffle you.
- IED
-> Trust NCERT blindly for this, but sandeep Garg notes are good for memorising points wise. -> Make short notes.
- Macro
-> Sandeep Garg se numericals karna is much simpler. Formulas are crisp, and they have plenty of additional questions at the back. -> I’d say it’s better to do theory from NCERT. -> theory ke short notes banao, point wise. -> for numericals, practice them regularly, especially if you suck at mathematical things.

—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
::Sociology::
Very interesting, but can get confusing if your 11th concepts aren’t clear.
Again, don’t use help books, I beg of you guys. Apne notes banao, and do PYQS.
Notes banao detailed Format questions and answers NCERT is your holy grail, I repeat, your holy grail.
BEST RESOURCES:
- Human-at-Ease Edudel notes https://edustud.nic.in/edu/SupportMaterial202324/12/12_sociology_eng_sm_2024.pdf Throughly do ncert PYQS ( last 13 years )
—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
::Legal Studies::
Possibly the most unpredictable subject of humanities, that is open to a plethora of interpretations. You need a lot of time to understand the pattern, as well as the textbook. It is very text heavy, with a lot of terms and articles and sections.
I can’t emphasise enough on the importance of being thorough with NCERT.
Make detailed notes, and reread them on regular intervals. Arihant is a good reference book (possibly the only one out there), but that too has errors. There is legit no good yt channel for legal.
TOP RESOURCES:
PYQs: read the answer keys very very well. It helps a lot, trust me. ( last 8 years) Arihant: but always cross check the answers from pyqs and the book. Notes are good.
**** I can share notes if y’all want as well. ****
A chapter-wise guide of sorts (cuz legal ka material nahi hai zyada)
Judiciary: A long and exhausting chapter. For preserving your own sanity, divide it into three parts: -> Page 3-14
-> Page 15-21 (right before judicial review) -> Page 22- 26 (I advise reading supplementary material as well. It helps understand the cases better + is good for case based questions)
*
do them separately, otw pagal ho jaoge)*
ADR: seems long, but is a rather simple and straight forward chapter. -> make a comparative table of Arbitration, mediation and conciliation, along with mind maps of each topic.
4 business laws: very simple and scoring. 20 marks guaranteed if you do them well. -> understand the cases given very well. They are always used for the case based questions. Any topics that mention steps of any sort, or a doctrine
are vv important. -> mind maps ; differentiation tables are vv important here.
Law and sdg: simple hai boht. ->Just read the book and make basic notes.
Legal Entities: again, v simple. -> make a table for diff b/w ops and sole proprietorship ; public and pvt company ; partnership and lap.
Criminal Law -> objectives of cl is v imp.
-> ipc, cps and iea ache se clearly samjho. There should be no confusion, nahi to phase jaoge. -> confession v/s admission is imp. -> cases ache se samjho pls
Human Rights: v difficult to remember. If you can rote learn, then nothing like it. Many case questions from here as well. ->best bet: sticky notes pe pointers banao and stick them above your table. Roz thoda padho.
-> some things I found v imp: article 14 (equality principle) ; article 19 (reasonable restrictions) ; Article 20 (section 377 chronology) ; Article 21A - DPSP to fundamental right ; arrest v/s detention ; DPSP ( 5 features, 5 dpsps) ; Fundamental duties (5)
Quasi judicial bodies: v simple -> functions and features pata hona chahiye
Intl Law Divide into 2 parts and do separately:
-> Page 163- 172 (right above intl human rights) -> page 172 ( intl human rights) to 178
Legal Professions Again, divide into 2 parts:
-> page 183-189 ( legal ed in india) -> pages 189 ( usa) to 193. (This is a lot to retain thus I recommend doing this alag se)
Legal Services: Simple hai sabse zyada!
->make good notes

2024.05.13 11:04 Archdevil1911 Safi Solo Quick Guide - Single-run Completion at rank 13 reward (4 weapons)
Coming back to the game after a long while, guess I just put this here for anyone who is addicted enough to attempt this challenge - it's not easy but once you pulled it off it's very satisfactory and boosted the game replayability by a big margin. My run often finished anywhere between 12-15 mins using the below strat.
Prep - Made item loadout for whatever build you plan to use but put Far Caster in any set you plan for area 3.
- Change cat weapon to one with Poison status or at least anything that don't proc sleep or para if you plan to proc it yourself.
- Builds: see below in area section.
- Watch a bunch of Safi solo speedrun vids.
- Accept that you may fail (a lot) and that's okay.
Area 1 (to be skipped) - Build: Lightbreak bow with Safi set (best) or with a TCE/ CE set/ Fatalis set. Elemental LBG build is a good alternative.
- Perform A1 skip (example here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B--OMeQoS28) while breaking 2 wings and back. Return and retry if skip fails, you will lose a lot of time - to the point that it's impossible to complete in a single run- if you don't get this skip.
Area 2 - DPS - Build: Aquashot LBG with Safi set (best) or with a TCE/ CE set, use any elemental ammo (preferably Water as easy to build with TCE set - Azure Age). Alatreon LBG is a solid alternative and don't forget to use Dragon ammo during Safi heal.
- Anything for DPS, strat varies depending on weapon but usually elemental LBG works best.
- Shoot spikes to break the Back/wings if not already broken in Area 1.
- For best DPS: shooting along 2 legs + tail on one side of his body.
- Build up mount with ONE jump attack.
Area 3 - Partbreaking - Open with a HBG Spread Shield build (with max or highest possible Affinity without tenderizing, Guard Up, Partbreaker 3 and Guard 3 at minimum), focus on Head - recommend not to use scope for your eyes and sanity. Other builds are possible but hard to pull off due to his nasty moves while you are under him.
- 60 sec after A3 start, Safi enters Supercritical mode (red-glowing body), perform a ledge/ wall jump for mount, finish mount on head. Put on Impact Mantle and shoot Head until KO, continue to shoot head during KO.
- After KO put on Rocksteady mantle and focus chest until break, then continue to shoot head until 2nd Head Break, and optionally chest (to get a long knockdown caused by chest flinch).
- Roughly 60s after 1st KO Safi will do 1st Nova, flash to dunk him down (Rocksteady mantle helps negate wind pressure when she flies up for Nova). She will immediately fly again to do Nova but won't exist Supercritical mode after that - meaning very good hitzone overall and chest can be shot at in case you haven't broken it.
- After 1st Nova gas traps will be available, proc 2 for another big KO (and big damage), continue to hit chest (if not already broken) or head. After this the chest should be broken and head should be broken for the 2nd time or very close to be.
- Watch out for 2nd nova and immediately use far caster when he start the animation (not possible if you don't react fast enough - save 30s if successful, if fail use far cast anyway after nova). Change to Elemental LBG build and finish breaking head if not already, then proceed to kill by shooting along 1 side - same as area 2. Additional gas trap can help with damage and more KO but don't waste time luring Safi to the trap unless you desperately need the 2nd head break.
- Interrupt any nova if possible with flash pod or bomb pod. After NPC says "energy completely drained", if you flinch and interrupt Safi while she is doing any ground explosion move, there will be NO ROCK to hide during next nova. When this happen, put far caster ready on item row to save a cart (and time) when Nova animation start.
- If using Aquashot: Building Para status with 3-4 shot with Para ammo lv2 (last shot should land during an uninterruptable animation - laser on ceiling for example) to avoid accidental proc. Proc it by 1 more Para ammo lv2 when she starts next Nova (need quick reflex - aim at hindleg, if blue fog appears you are too slow). You'll save a lot of time by interrupting a Nova while keeping him in Supercritical mode (for more dps). Repeat with Sleep to interrupt another Nova, need 4-5 shoot to build up with Sleep ammo lv2.
- Kill and breath :D.
ENJOY!!!

2024.05.12 20:31 NumasVanegasTijerina Looking for a Perfect Garden Scent + My list of potential garden fragrances
I wan’t to smell like a natural garden - fresh, wet, green, herbal, earthy, aromatic (
https://www.fiskars.com/-/media/fiskars/images/legacy/inspiration-tips/gardening/how-to-plant-a-shade-garden/page_main_image_how-to-plant-a-shade-garden.jpg):
- Herbs
- A bit of soil or related earthy smells
- Greenery, but not fresh cut grass, more as in some green leaf that is aromatic in itself, like black currant leaves, or something like that.
- Maybe some water, like dew drops or something
- Maybe some fresh berries or apples in the mix, but not as main characters - I don’t want this fragrance to be of ‘fruity’ accord, more of ‘green’, ‘earthy’, maybe ’aromatic’, maybe ‘fresh spicy’ accord
- Maybe some cucumbers even???
But not limited to only these ‘ingredients’ because I myself might not know what I’m looking for. I just know I probably don’t want it to be citrusy, because that’s immediately a whole different vibe for me. And maybe it shouldn’t have a strong floral accord, because it would also overpower my initial green garden wish (but maybe somewhere in the background would help with the photorealistic garden feel?)
I also want to share my 'library' of potential garden scents. Big part of them I haven’t even smelled yet so let me know if something from this list matches my criteria. Meaning - if something you would recommend is already in this list, I still want to hear your recommendation! Some are more straightforward green garden, some are less, some are a bit foresty gardens, but all of them are mostly green:

2024.05.11 22:27 Lipe18090 (Spoilers Extended) A List of Every Confirmed and Completed TWOW Chapter We Know About, Updated
Intro
Almost four years ago, BryndenBFish released a post and tried to figure out how many Winds chapters are already written. However, many years have passed and we have more information, so in this post I'll try to extend his post with the new chapters that George has talked about! I'll give both the pessimist and the optimist possible estimates.
Arya Stark: 3 - 7 Chapters.
- Mercy (Arya I): original draft written 2000-2001, released as a sample in 2014
- At least one more complete Arya chapter that GRRM sent to The Lands of Ice and Fire artist Jonathan Roberts in 2012. George sent this "batch" of chapters to Jonathan Roberts in order for the artist to develop the map of Braavos more fully. (Original reddit post by ). Perhaps the Mercy chapter and two more, since two wouldn't make sense describing as "a batch".
- GRRM was working on an Arya chapter in 2013
- In 2018, GRRM was asked which POV he was working on, and he answered cryptically "Smudge.", which could mean an Arya chapter.
- GRRM was returning to Westeros to write an Arya Chapter where she killed someone in June 2020
- GRRM talks about writing "a girl with no name" in August 2020. Perhaps the same chapter he was writing in June, but maybe a new one.
Tyrion Lannister: 5 - 7 Chapters.
Barristan Selmy: 3 - 4 Chapters
- Barristan I was released in the paperback version of ADWD. One chapter
- Barristan II was read at BosKone 2013 and Worldcon 2013. One more
- GRRM was "visiting" Ser Barristan in June 2020. One more
- Since the Tyrion storyline was almost finished, and since his storyline is tightly closed to the Meereen characters - and he said that he was close or even done with some others storylines beyond Tyrion - Barristan has probably more chapters done.
Arianne Martell: 3 Chapters
Melisandre of Asshai: 1 Chapter
Theon Greyjoy: 2 Chapters
Aeron Greyjoy and Samwell Tarly: 3 - 4 Chapters
- I'm joining both of these characters since they are both currently either on or heading to Oldtown.
- "The Forsaken" (Aeron I) was read at Balticon in 2016
- When asked if "The Forsaken" would be Damphair's only chapter, GRRM answered "No."
- GRRM talks about writing Sam in August 2020
- GRRM talks about paying a visit to Oldtown "a time or three" in November 2020. This would sign that he's written at least one chapter, maybe it being Aeron's second, but probably more.
Areo Hotah: 2 - 3 Chapters
- We know that two of the Dornish chapters GRRM moved from ADWD to TWOW were Arianne I and II. He also stated in 2016 that he wasn't planning to add more Dornish POV characters besides Areo and Arianne for TWOW. The third chapter is probably an Areo Hotah chapter as he stated in 2010 that he wouldn't have to write Arianne's third TWOW chapter "not yet anyways".
- GRRM was also "visiting" Areo Hotah in June 2020
- GRRM talks about "visiting" Dorne in November 2020.
Cersei Lannister: 4 - 6 Chapters
- GRRM was working on a Cersei POV chapter at Balticon in 2016
- GRRM was "visiting" Cersei in June 2020. Again, this could be him revising the Cersei chapter he was working on in 2016, but I think it's more likely that it's a different chapter than the one from four years ago.
- GRRM talks about spending a "lot of time" writing the Lannister, particularly Tyrion and Cersei in November 2020
- GRRM talks about finishing a "clutch" of Cersei chapters that were "giving him the fits" in June 2022. From what I've searched, a clutch could mean at least two or three.
Asha Greyjoy: 2 Chapters
Jon Connington: 2 Chapters
- GRRM had a partially-written "complementary chapter" between Arianne II and Arianne III written by 2010. Given that Arianne II ends with her declaring her intent to sail to Storm's End, this is probably a Jon Connington chapter.
- At WorldCon 2011, GRRM said he originally wasn't going to feature the Battle of Storm's End in TWOW, but he decided he was going to write it. This Battle of Storm's End chapter would almost certainly be from the POV of Jon Connington. Here's the original quote by from 2011.
Sansa Stark: 1 Chapter
- Alayne I was released as a sample in 2015
Victarion Greyjoy: 2 - 3 Chapters
- Victarion I was read by GRRM at Tiff Bell Lightbox and EasterCon in 2012
- GRRM talks about spending time with "Vic" in August 2020
- Since the Tyrion storyline was almost finished, and since his storyline is tightly closed to the Meereen characters - and he said that he was close or even done with some others storylines beyond Tyrion - Victarion has probably more chapters done.
Bran Stark: 1 Chapter
Daenerys Targaryen: 1 - 2 Chapters
- GRRM was working on the Dothraki in 2012. This is likely a Dany chapter
- Since the Tyrion storyline was almost finished, and since his storyline is tightly closed to the Meereen characters - and he said that he was close or even done with some others storylines beyond Tyrion, and that Tyrion and Dany would intersect in a way - Daenerys has probably more chapters done.
Davos Seaworth: 1 - 2 Chapters
Jaime Lannister and Brienne of Tarth: 1 - 2 Chapters
- GRRM talks about spending a "lot of time" writing the Lannister, particularly Tyrion and Cersei in November 2020, which doesn't mean he hadn't written some Jaime too.
- GRRM was "wrestling" with Jaime and Brienne in June 2022
Prologue:
Unknown TWOW Chapters GRRM Has Written or Was Writing
- In April 2011, GRRM cut three chapters from ADWD to TWOW. It's unclear the identity of those chapters, but I think it's likely that these three chapters have been been released as samples in the years since and accounted for in this post. (My guess on the chapter identities are Tyrion I, Victarion I and Barristan I as Tyrion and Victarion's chapters were read as samples in early 2012 right after GRRM finished his ADWD tour, and Barristan's chapters were reportedly "new to us, but not to him, implying he had written them a long time ago.")
- In 2013, GRRM's editor Anne Groell reported receiving a batch of 168 manuscript pages from TWOW. This translates to about seven to nine chapters. Additionally, she stated: "I know more [chapters] exist, because he keeps talking about chapters he hasn’t yet sent me."
- In the midst of the 2015 Hugo Awards Sad Puppy controversy, GRRM was returning to a TWOW chapter.
- In his January 2016 Winds post, GRRM reported having "dozens" of completed chapters from TWOW complete. So, that's at least twenty-four chapters.
- In December 2016, when asked about “The Forsaken”, GRRM reported that there were a lot of dark chapters in TWOW.
- In June 2020 and July 2020, GRRM stated that he finished "six" total chapters. The identity of these POV chapters are unclear, but I would note that GRRM mentioned visiting Areo Hotah, Asha Greyjoy, Ser Barristan, Tyrion Lannister, Cersei Lannister and Arya Stark (Six POVs) and has reported completing three chapters in June 2020 and three chapters in July 2020 (Six chapters). It's possible that the number of POV he's been "visiting" and the number of chapters he's finished correspond. Or it could be coincidental! Either way, we're taking the extreme pessimistic view and saying that the numbers align. Six POVs mentioned = six chapters he's completed in June/July 2020.
- In a notablog post from July 2020, GRRM indicated making good progress on several other chapters. Standard definition of several is "at least three." So, three more known TWOW chapters.
- In the Game of Owns interview, he talked about a few characters more being done or close to be done other than Tyrion.
Conclusion
Here's our grand tally for confirmed chapters that George was writing or wrote from TWOW:
Minimum Number of Confirmed TWOW Chapters: <
46 (38 Known POV chapters + 5 Unknown POV Chapters (Spring 2015 TWOW Chapter, "Smudge" in 2018 and the 3+ chapters he was making good progress on in July 2020).
Maximum Number of Confirmed TWOW Chapters: 64> GRRM expects The Winds of Winter to be about 300 pages longer than A Storm of Swords and A Dance with Dragons. The books had respectively 82 and 73 chapters in it, meaning that at the pessimistic floor of 46+ chapters he's working on/has completed for TWOW, GRRM would be about 3/4 complete, which does in fact factor that he has already said that Winds is around 3/4 or 75% done in the Stephen Colbert interview.
Again, that's the statistical floor, the most pessimistic possible take for where George is at. The statistical ceiling is higher, but even then, the reality is that GRRM has more finished, drafted or fragmentary chapters than the ones I've been able to find in my research. It only seems that each time he writes, the book becomes bigger.
The storylines that seem closer to conclusion are Cersei, Areo, Arya and Meereen, while the Northern storyline seems to be very far from being finished.
Now, we should bear in mind that GRRM has recently stated he still has a "long ways to go" and "not to get too excited." At the very least, we can celebrate GRRM making progress and see some hard data behind his stated progress, but get depressed because he seems to not have written anything in 2023, since he estimates
1.100 pages done both in the end of 2022 and in the end of 2023.
Ultimately, I hope this post both provides hard data and also links to the sample chapters/recounts of chapters read at conventions and links to places where George has talked about other TWOW chapters. If I've missed anything, feel free to let me know!
Thanks for reading!

2024.05.10 21:51 OmeletteMcMuffin Is ALAMAT's advocacy performative? (Some thoughts)
| Hello! Sorry this took me so long. I’m here to try to answer the question of ALAMAT’s advocacy being performative or not. Buckle up because this is... very lengthy. (That’s why it took me so long to post it.) Please do not screenshot my post and share it on other platforms; I have extreme anxiety. First off, let’s define the word “performative.” Merriam-Webster defines it as “(disapproving) made or done for show (as to bolster one’s own image or make a positive impression on others).” This definition is undoubtedly what is being meant when some people call ALAMAT’s advocacy performative. So… what is their advocacy? This was their mission statement before: “Sa pamamagitan ng musika, layunin ng ALAMAT ang ipagdiwang ang ating pagka-Pilipino at maitanim sa puso’t isipan ng mga kabataang Pinoy na hindi kailangan hubarin ang ating kultura’t pagkakakilanlan para lamang umangat at makilala sa pandaigdigang entablado.” (Through music, ALAMAT’s mission is to celebrate our Filipino identity and to instill in the hearts and minds of the Filipino youth that we do not need to discard our culture and heritage in order to succeed and be recognized on the world stage.) This is found in the description of their newer videos: “Alamat is a 6-member sing-rap-dance boy group from the Philippines that combines both traditional and modern Philippine cultural elements with Western/global influences in the various facets of their music, including dance, fashion, and iconography.” I believe their newer statement is more in line with what they’re actually doing and puts less pressure on them. Their thing has always been taking precolonial cultural elements and modernizing them, and using indigenous elements but adding Western influences. It’s never been about “pure” representations, but infusing postcolonial, Westernized Filipino culture with precolonial or indigenous elements. When some people call their advocacy performative, they are trying to say that: 1. ALAMAT’s concept of multiculturalism and embracing indigenous Philippine culture(s) is purely a gimmick. The members do not care about it, and neither does the creative director. Is that true? Let’s investigate: I believe that it is possible for the members not to care about it if they were all pale-skinned, mestizo guys from Manila. However, all of them are probinsyanos, not all of them fit the dominant Eurocentric/East Asian-centric beauty standards, and most of them speak a different language (not Tagalog) as their mother tongue. The director mentioned before that he specifically chose members who were short, because the industry favors taller men (despite the fact that the average height in the Philippines is considerably shorter than other countries’). Tomas alone is, in more than one way, the exact kind of person who can’t not care about ALAMAT’s advocacy: he is the shortest member, standing at around 5’5”, he’s moreno, and he’s a Bicolano speaker who has an accent when speaking in Tagalog. He talked about it here, all the way back in August 2021 pa. He said that he often got rejected in the acting industry because of his Bicolano accent. Mo is visibly and proudly Blasian, Tomas is a short, moreno Bicolano, and Taneo is moreno and Indigenous on his father’s side. Even the members who fit the hegemonic beauty standards more — Jao with his tisoy/chinito looks, Alas with his pale skin and chinito looks, R-Ji who is fairly tall for a Filipino guy and has classically tisoy facial features a la Kyle Echarri — would struggle to fit in the industry for other reasons. Alas mentioned in the same interview as that one (more on that later) that he was often bullied for being Bisaya. Hollywood actor Alex Mallari Jr. ( Ginny & Georgia, The Adam Project) even Tweeted before that he wouldn’t be able to find acting work in the Philippines because he’s Kapampangan and moreno. (I can’t find the Tweet anymore because he deleted his account, sadly.) The Philippine entertainment industry is highly colorist, highly favors Eurocentric and East Asian looks, and strongly discriminates against people from the probinsya, especially those whose first language isn’t Tagalog. My point here is that I would believe that these guys do not genuinely care about the advocacy/concept if they were the type of guys who could easily succeed in the industry without thinking about those things. But they are not. Mo did a (really beautiful) interview with Mixed Asian Media, an independent online zine, not some prestigious, high-profile publication, in September 2023. He spoke about his mixed Black and Filipino identity. It is clear that this advocacy of promoting Filipino multiculturalism is highly personal to the members. I’m not gonna lie — I think one of the main reasons that they have a reputation for “not being able to talk about their advocacy properly” is that a lot of people have unreasonable expectations regarding their speaking skills. They are young entertainers who simply have lived experiences that make the concept highly relevant to them. They are not academics and they are not diplomats. Not to mention that some of them aren’t confident when they speak in English or Tagalog. They do explain their own emotional investment in the concept as well as they should reasonably be expected to explain it (“I care about it because I know how discrimination/lack of representation has affected me and the impact it’s had on people around me as well, so what we do makes me feel less insecure about my own cultural identity”). You’ve got the members passionately speaking out about their own experiences (like here) and you’ve got academics for the more formal explanations. It’s not like they don’t invite academics to their platform, you know? An Akeanon professor who has published many relevant sociolinguistics studies spoke on one of their videos and they literally had a historian on their channel during their debut era. As for their creative director, promoting multilingualism and multiculturalism has been this guy’s thing even before ALAMAT came to be. I know a lot of people aren’t huge fans of his, but we need to acknowledge that. I don’t get this idea that he’s just using this concept to make a quick buck because the Filipino entertainment industry and society still vastly favor Tagalog-centrism. Doing this concept was and is a risk. He wrote the script for 2 Cool 2 Be 4Gotten (2016) and it features the Kapampangan language, even though it’s not directly related to the plot at all. Beauty Gonzalez was speaking in her native language, Cebuano Bisaya, in The Third Party (2016), even though it has no relevance to the plot or setting (a woman in Manila has to live with her bisexual ex and his boyfriend). His 2018 film, Bakwit Boys, heavily features the Kapampangan culture and language, inspired by his own upbringing. As I’ve mentioned before, a few years ago, I found a research paper that included his blog post from 2007. To my amusement, he was credited simply as a “Filipino blogger,” but yeah… even in 2007, he was already speaking up about the discrimination against Bisaya folks, even though he himself is Kapampangan and not Bisaya. 2) They are only using Indigenous aesthetics, but don’t care about Indigenous peoples of the Philippines. Likewise, they use aesthetics from non-Tagalog cultures but don’t uplift non-Tagalog people. To be honest, I believe that much of this is answered by the stuff above. However, putting aside the members’ own ethnic and cultural backgrounds, they definitely do work with and feature a lot of Indigenous and non-Tagalog talents on their platform. Some examples: - They featured various Indigenous/non-Tagalog language speakers (besides the members) on one of their languages comparison video: https://youtu.be/KU0iUX6d7Ys
- They highlighted an Aeta tribe in “ABKD” and worked closely with them.
- A Maranao performer did a solo at their Pasulong album launch: https://youtu.be/oBTkIp7fu3Q?t=2675
- “say u love me” was co-written by Jin Chan, a Bisaya artist from Davao.
- “Day & Night” was co-written and co-composed by Therese Villarante-Langit, a Vispop artist who wrote Vispop songs like “My Morena Girl” (probably the most recognizable one).
- They also consistently give proper credit to the sources of their indigenous textiles. For example, you can easily find credits for Hanap Habi and Kandama Collective in the “Dagundong” MV description. They have worked with Hanap Habi and Kandama Collective for a long time now. Hanap Habi supports Indigenous female weavers in Benguet and Kandama Collective is owned by Victor Baguilat Jr., who is Ifugao.
Aside from that, they also publicly supported Indigenous rights at UP Fair this year: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GNEQHkOa8AAvC9h?format=jpg&name=medium https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GNEQHl6asAAUqrC?format=jpg&name=large Predebut, Alas was also a youth coordinator for Let's Do It Philippines in Davao, which he talked about in their broadcast channel. LDIP is a grassroots coalition for environmental action, and he stated that his team helped Indigenous folks in Mindanao solve environmental issues. Of course, there are always ways for the advocacy to be represented better. I myself have a major criticism of their MVs: Their leading ladies are usually still very mestiza or chinita. There’s nothing wrong, of course, with having a mestiza/chinita leading lady. However, in “ABKD,” they show a young Aeta girl whose self-esteem is damaged by Eurocentric beauty standards and colorism. Yet their music videos often reinforce this beauty standard by almost always casting mestiza/fair-skinned chinita women as romantic leads. This beauty standard has an even greater impact on Filipina girls/women than men. It’s sad, TBH, that “Maharani” is probably their only MV with naturalistic color grading among the ones that feature a romance storyline. Probably because Jhoanna is the only leading lady they’ve gotten so far* who actually registers as morena on-screen even without a filter that makes her look darker: https://dryedmangoez.com/images/dryedmangoez/MUSICMONDAY012723.jpg https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GM-a-eabsAA3xkU?format=jpg&name=large * I am aware that they featured Lyca Gairanod in their “ILY ILY” MV, but she was shown as the members’ classmate/sister(? unclear which), not in a romantic context. I really hope they get morena leading ladies in upcoming MVs, especially after the “ABKD” MV condemned colorist beauty standards that damage the self-esteem of young girls especially. I know for a fact that Viva has morena talents, so even if they wanted to keep it in-house, they can still do better. Morena girls deserve to be shown as worthy of love. I hope the group features a more visually diverse set of leading ladies, as a part of their advocacy. But yeah. Their advocacy is not perfect, but what we see indicates that the members’ and the creative team’s intentions are sincere. There are ways for it to be better, but they are definitely not performative and have already done so much great work in the few years that they have been a group. submitted by OmeletteMcMuffin to PPOPcommunity [link] [comments] |

2024.05.10 09:53 mr_boizoff MoonDrop Golden Ages 1979 TWS Earphones Review
| Another chance. I decided to give MoonDrop’s TWS earphones another chance, and it was a tough decision because MoonDrop Alice were shamefully poor in terms of connection stability and proprietary software. When it comes to MoonDrop Golden Ages 1979, which I’m gonna talk about today, my attention was drawn to their design, low cost, and a planar driver. And I also had a glimmer of hope that at least MoonDrop managed to bring the software to the users-don’t-get-sick-and-tired state, after all. https://preview.redd.it/zz8tointzjzc1.jpg?width=1800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7c0936f26d1c692c8feed95cbbc3022af992e155 I got Golden Ages (hereinafter — GA) for $80 a month ago, and now they already go for $75. This review in my blog: https://boizoff.com/language/en/moondrop-golden-ages-1979-tws-earphones-review/ What’s included The earphones come in a brightly decorated large box. https://preview.redd.it/h7mb3muuzjzc1.jpg?width=1800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1ff467edf04065676a514b5967a59e377dfcebf7 What do you get: - The earphones;
- A charging case;
- A protective cover for the charging case;
- A USB-A to USB Type-C cable;
- 4 pairs of eartips of the same type in different sizes.
There are some papers underneath, including a quality assurance service report. Design, assembly, technology TWS earphones start with a charging case, which is quite large and stylish when it comes to GA. The design and color choice is no accident: in 1979, the first Sony Walkman TPS-L2 cassette player was released, which looked like this: Source: theverge.com Therefore, there is an image of sort of a TPS-L2 window and a specific left-pointing arrow at the front of the case (the film was rewound from the right reel to the left one if you are not in the know) and an orange pairing button at the back of it. https://preview.redd.it/9a331jo10kzc1.jpg?width=1800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=461bf149090451cbd811bc00f4041f6f666254a3 There is a single green indicator diode at the front, too. The USB Type-C charging port has been moved to the bottom face. The case interior is painted orange. The earphones fit in tightly, hold on to the case with magnets, and are not loose. https://preview.redd.it/vi7izb930kzc1.jpg?width=1800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f3f94ad3cfaf57cbc8bc5860f3521bce02833b82 You can pull (with noticeable effort) a transparent protective cover on the case, equipped with an eye for attaching a lanyard. https://preview.redd.it/nq7nnhi40kzc1.jpg?width=1800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c8de849960b8592d328fb8b4070ff6e2a7c4dfde The case is well-made; it feels pleasantly smooth, opens and closes without creaking, with a mid-elite click. Let’s move on to the earphones and start with their technological features. The GA use a 13 mm planar driver. The manufacturer focuses on the dual suspension system implemented in this driver, as well as 4 times higher efficiency as compared to dynamic drivers of the same size. The earphones are made of gray plastic, with some themed pictures coated on the ‘sticks’ on the outside. And what’s the main, they have L and R on them. There are microphones at the ends of the stems that capture the user’s speech, one for each earphone. https://preview.redd.it/mk8x47e60kzc1.jpg?width=1800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dffee9100bb5d172cc6d5e22a5cf5cb67a811fd3 The compensation hole is neatly covered with a mesh and oriented upwards. https://preview.redd.it/iidh9fm70kzc1.jpg?width=1800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=11f0bf033b665fea23657c5bbfa4109844b6ae4e The oval-shaped sound duct is extremely short, covered with a mesh, too. There are additional holes on the inside; I suspect these are additional microphones for ANC. https://preview.redd.it/05z973t80kzc1.jpg?width=1800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=27d9850f4a979245b6f5e18f69149633e41b0d88 There are charge contacts at the ends of the ‘sticks’. https://preview.redd.it/addkd73a0kzc1.jpg?width=1800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=686aba1b9ecd549d3f49be122817d3563c758768 The earphones are made quite neatly, but they feel cheap: the pictures are of poor quality, and joints and burrs are visible on the plastic. The enclosures are painted, which immediately raises the question of their durability. But, as always, it is necessary to keep in mind the product price. In terms of visibility and recognition, everything is just fine: once you see them in someone’s ears, you will never mistake them for other TWS. Hardware and software Before describing the functionality of the native Android application itself, I should tell about some ins and outs, that is to say, how you can update the application and firmware so that you can see everything that is shown below. The algorithm is as follows: - Follow the link https://www.pgyer.com/SrNXCM—there is the application MoonDrop Link 2.0, version 1.0.50c-240429. (On the manufacturer’s website, there is version 1.0.0-bla-bla-bla.)
- We need to install it, launch it, go to the GA settings on the OTA tab, and select firmware version 1.1.0.
- Time for an update. It’s working like a charm.
So, the application starts from the device selection screen. Let’s choose GA. https://preview.redd.it/ra5xjm6c0kzc1.jpg?width=505&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=56a9c5cc6a3c21375c7acd799586ae72f42caef8 On the first EQ tab, you can select one out of 5 preset equalizers. https://preview.redd.it/z6fno9if0kzc1.jpg?width=505&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ef25107dd9ae5dfdd004f15c1bf362958a6ba2d4 On the ANC tab, you can control the following values: - Noise reduction mode—acoustic transparency, all off, or active noise reduction is on.
- Enable or exclude any of these three modes from the settings rotation.
- Set the mode switching sequence.
https://preview.redd.it/o7lgd75i0kzc1.jpg?width=505&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1d0eeea5ce1943605d92842b275d6f1482ebb3f8 The Setting tab provides access to selecting the hardware gain mode, as well as enabling support for LDAC and LC3 codecs. https://preview.redd.it/go16k7rj0kzc1.jpg?width=505&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e8493be33ca358ad41f949fe3c4c5a06ee5a415f On the OTA tab, you can select one of the firmware options available online or choose a file from the local storage. https://preview.redd.it/0tm6eurm0kzc1.jpg?width=505&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=958d5b89aac97991fb7a3824efa5bbb5687d20d6 The last Touch tab hosts control gesture settings. https://preview.redd.it/9j32pwoo0kzc1.jpg?width=505&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5bb51cec5afdf106043ec033627904ee54cf6f06 Ergonomics, usage experience Hardware Good points: - The earphones are stably connected to the source (when using LDAC, I tested them with Samsung S23 Ultra and Hiby R6III) and do not lose connection, and this is already half the battle.
- The earphones are easy to pull out of the case, they’re made for comfort of your fingers.
- Gestures are recognized and processed without any problems.
- Active noise reduction works, and it works quite well, at around the level of Soundcore Libery 3 Pro.
Ins and outs: - The earphones ‘sit’ very tightly in the case, which heavily limits options for alternative eartips: 2-flange SpinFit, large Tangzu Tang Sancai, standard ‘foams’ and many more eartips just do not let you close the case. I’ll tell about the eartips in detail below.
- The microphones are disgusting, much worse than anything in the same ballpark.
- IPX rating is not stated. However, I had functional training wearing them, sweated a lot, and the earphones survived. But I’ve only tried it once.
Lastly, there is my personal problem, which is my beard. When the acoustic transparency was on, it turned out to be impossible for me to use GA because the ‘sticks’ of the earphones touched my beard hair all the time and rustled nastily. As for the fit and enclosure geometry, I tend to regard them as normal (as to my own ears). It is impossible to forget that GA are in your ears, that is, to stop feeling them, as it works with Sony Linkbuds S. It is even difficult to wear them for 4-5 hours as the enclosures begin putting unpleasant pressure on your auricles. However, as for 3-4 hours of listening, they suit me personally quite well. It would be wrong to make any generalizations out of this very personal case. To sum up: the earphones have no problems with connection, and there is no reason to hope for the appearance of any good microphones in TWS (at the current stage of technological development) for any money in the world. Software The application has started working much better – it is more or less stable, it is logically organized, and it just works, after all. I’d like to specially mention very funny notification sounds voiced in a kawaii girlish manner, which was done by Mitsuki Yuki, the MoonDrop mascot (see the photo of the kit, the picture on the box). Compared to the nightmare that was in the days of MoonDrop Alice, the current version of Link 2.0 is the apex of grace and convenience. However, this is only if you compare Link 2.0 versions with each other. And if we take into account any competitors, then some limited capabilities come to light: - no N-band equalizer, let alone a parametric one. There are predetermined presets only;
- no notification volume setting;
- no wizard to make your own equalizer;
- no implemented function to automatically enable acoustic transparency;
- no connection to two devices;
- no sleep timer setting in idle mode;
- no way to control the volume using gestures;
- no way to switch equalizer presets using gestures.
Besides, in order to upgrade to firmware 1.1.0, you need to google really badly and make it through to the method that I described above. There is also lousy English, but that already seems to be hopeless. On the other hand, GA and those TWS that can do all of the above are apples and oranges in terms of their pricing. Quick specifications overview - Design: closed-back ‘earbuds’.
- Drivers: 1 planar driver.
- Weight of a single earpiece: 5 grams.
- Weight of the case with the earphones inside: 46 grams.
- Bluetooth version: 5.3.
- Dust and moisture protection: none.
- Audio transmission protocols: SBC, AAC, LDAC, LC3.
- Earphone battery life: approx. 5 hours when using LDAC and medium gain level.
- Earphone charging time: approx. 1 hour.
- Case charging time: approx. 1.5 hours.
Subjective sound impression Since the earphones have 5 equalizer presets, we need to talk about them point-by-point. Surprisingly, 4 out of 5 presets are not bad. They are frankly listenable and are a little more ‘like or dislike’ and a little less ‘failed tuning or OK tuning’. Only the Secret preset sounds as if someone fell asleep on the keyboard when tuning: this is a totally, mysteriously distorted sound. So, I stayed with the Basshead preset for the outside and the Reference one for home. By ear, these two presets differ only in the amount of subbass, which you would want more in a noisy urban environment, especially as GA has certain problems with sound insulation. GA sound… great. They sound just phenomenally good and ‘right’ for TWS earphones in general and even more so for such inexpensive TWS earphones. In terms of subbass and bass tuning, MoonDrop bucked the trend and did not ‘pile up’ 120 Hz on them so that they would beat and shake on your head, leaving all frequencies to the left behind. In GA, the subbass dominates the bass. They are well separated and do not ‘overlap’ each other. I can assume that the frequency response in this part is linear, but rotated clockwise. The choice of eartips is very important: if you do not hear subbass or it is subtle and not deep, try different eartips (see the next section). The lower middle and middle sections are just great, I don’t know how else to describe them. They are full-fledged, smooth, informative, and everything is just fine with them. The upper middle section reveals a little fly in the ointment: GA sound a bit unnaturally in this frequency range, a little shriller than necessary. And that’s because the volume at 4 kHz should be lower than one at 2.7 kHz. GA have them equal, or even 4 kHz may outvoice 2.7. This gives rise to sharpness, sort of ‘detail’, but also artificiality of the sound. I need to underline: this is about a fine nuance and not about a fatal tuning error. And further up, to the right of the frequency response graph, everything is fine up to nearly 11-12 kHz, where the listener will find the nastiest surprise in GA tuning – a gargantuan mountain. The ‘mountain’ can be heard, and rustling and ‘crackling’ appear on some tracks that actively use this range. Some people do like it, but I don’t. The disaster is not immense, it is still a category of ‘I don’t give a shit pretty much’/’you can get used to it’, as you like. And it’s still infinitely better than, say, Fiio FW5, true story. The feeling of the virtual sound stage is realistic, but it is more deep rather than wide. There is no incredible sound source positioning. Thus, I am inclined to rate the GA tuning as outstanding, despite that annoying Qomolangma at 11 kHz. I don’t remember any manufacturer setting up TWS earphones so well, so deliberately. Eartip choice Eartips for GA are a pain in the ass because of two facts: - the GA sound depends on the eartips A LOT and, at the same time,
- the choice of eartips for GA is strictly limited to ‘short’ models because the charging case will not close otherwise.
And I would like to change the eartips because the ones provided do not ensure really good sound insulation, which is why there is not enough subbass, and ANC works not really effectively. The good news is that usual ’round’ eartips can be pulled on oval sound ducts of the earphones quite well. My list of what you can put on GA, with the earphones fitting in the case: - JBL Project Rock;
- Whizzer ET100AB;
- Tangzu Tang Sancai – Wide bore;
- SpinFit OMNI;
- Zhulinniao Zhu Rythme;
- Sony EP-NI1000 (eartips WF-1000xm4).
All kinds of SpinFit CP100, CP240, ‘foams’ by KZ and many other models will go with the earphones, but not with the case, so to speak. How does the GA sound change in dependence to the eartips? Radically: https://preview.redd.it/rt468wyy0kzc1.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=285417bd9ebb4921aae0e3c500de26637d9befca The fit depth also has an additive effect, although with such an earphone form factor it can be varied within very small limits: https://preview.redd.it/ukjrnor01kzc1.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b639fcc1c393fb5ea290b24808d68b61eed26704 Personally, I chose Tangzu Tang Sancai – Wide bore. They turned out to be the most comfortable for me and the closest to the eartips provided in terms of sounding. But they insulate much better. Measurements The headphones were used with the Hiby R6III player (LDAC). A measuring rig conforms to the IEC60318-4 standard. The smoothing is indicated on the graphs. I’ve described the limitations of the rig and the headphones measurements in general in this article. This is the basic frequency response graph for GA with ANC turned on, medium gain, and the Reference preset: https://preview.redd.it/fl1111o31kzc1.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fb976ea7a64fc9abdf8cbe7ca774470c2115bb68 And it’s an absolutely brilliant setup because: - the subbass is between the Harman curve and the neutral curve;
- the middle corresponds to the Harman curve;
- the upper frequency range falls below the neutral curve;
- it all starts looking ill at 12 kHz.
The upshot is tuning, which sound is more fun compared to completely neutral one, but it’s still not as V-shaped as Harman. It is very smooth, with 5-6 kHz correctly ‘suppressed’, but with 4 kHz raised, which negatively affects the sound. And there are immediate answers to basic questions: is sound delivery different with ANC on an off? No. https://preview.redd.it/x0lj3cy51kzc1.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f0c8d1d2e7c59d2380297311bcad9db8294db52e Reddit does not allow to insert more pictures, so please conitue reading here. submitted by mr_boizoff to headphones [link] [comments] |

2024.05.09 14:03 TearRepresentative56 I'm a professional trader and this is my entire premarket report, including earnings summaries, positioning analysis and more. 09/05
Analysis: - Will keep it brief here.
- We continue to see choppiness under SPX 5200 and in and around QQQ 440.
- This is because prior to OPEX for May, it looks like there’s not much OTM Call delta to push us meaningfully higher. As such, market makers are keeping us hedged and pinned around these key levels. That includes 39k on Dow.
- Overall sentiment is bullish. Look at these positioning charts for SPX and NDX and you can see how much call delta there is.
- https://imgur.com/a/ZgiBjyf
- VIX is being suppressed and traders are short on volatility which is supporting the market higher.
- HY Default Swaps are tight and signal that traders are not particularly worried.
- There are, as of right now, not too many headwinds right now that traders are seeing.
- As such, until opex expect choppiness near these levels. With traders selling vol, if there is any intraday dips it likely won’t last long.
- Goldman Sachs Volatility panic index also tanking, reversing almost all the gains from the recent bump with geopolitical unrest.

Swingtrading Analysis: - Will keep it brief here.

TRADINGEDGE Analysis: - Will keep it brief here.
