I've become really fascinated with minimizing my usage of nuclear fuel in Factorio. There's no real reason to but here we are. I posted last year my first Nuclear plant and after switching over to the city block pattern as Nilaus describes on his YouTube videos I felt compelled to build it again but in city block fashion. submitted by RedditOnTheJon to factorio [link] [comments] This 4 core plant is controlled by a bank of accumulators that power on pumps to feed 7 banks of turbines (0-6). Bank 0 is on as long as accumulators are charging so you can switch over to full solar. Drop below 10% and the station goes critical (With alarms and alerts). This includes a color coded power gauge so you know when you need to build a new plant way ahead of time. The cores are controlled by the volume of tanks so you only power on the cores closest to the tanks your using. Overflow valves have been added between the side tanks and the main tanks to ensure turbines 0-2 always have steam. It took me 2 weeks to build a big enough base to draw 466MW and test the station critical alerts. It's still a work in progress but I hope this helps at least 1 person power their first super base who is struggling with power. It has served me well so far.
