2024.05.16 15:02 PrincipleParking9478 What is up with this game?

I've been trying very, very hard to like this game and it simply has too many problems for me to turn a blind eye to. It's simply one of the worst games I have ever played, and I don't understand why it isn't criticized more rationally, I simply don't get it. It's like it was designed to not be fun around every corner. I think there's a good game in there somewhere, I like the Monster Hunter inspirations, but every time I boot it up it's an unbelievable chore to do anything, and I realize, this simply isn't fun. Also, the dialogue is offensively terrible, and never ending. It's okay to like this game, but I simply can't believe people say it's good without critizing it's many, many bad design decisions.

2024.05.16 14:55 TRMC790 One last try at making a fun (but hopefully still competitive) and balanced 2000 point list for Ragnar’s Blackmane Great Company

One last try at making a fun (but hopefully still competitive) and balanced 2000 point list for Ragnar’s Blackmane Great Company
I went back to Gladius Task Force for this one. I’m going for a good “all-comers” list that is balanced enough to take on hordes and heavies lists alike.
Wolf Lord Ragnar Blackmane, his Wolf Guard Battle Leader Sven Dragonfire (LT,) and his 6 Wolf Guard (Bladeguard Veterans) start in a Land Raider and advance towards midfield where they will charge out and begin cleaving through bodies.
Chaplain Strybjorn Grimskull leads another 6 Wolf Guard (Bladeguard Veterans) in a Land Raider with a nearly identical plan - bailing out to charge and start swinging.
A 6 man Assault Bolter Inceptor Squad also lays down some serious hate. Meteoric Descent if needed, as Ragnar’s planetary assaults go, dropping in strategically is something his company is known for.
Two 3 man Assault Bolter Inceptor units will be dropped in on objectives/secondaries as needed.
A pack of 5 Jump Pack Assault Intercessors (dressed as Skyclaws) are ready to do secondaries and slam into the ground with some mortal wounds on the charge.
A Phobos Librarian leading a unit of Infiltrators may either screen the backfield or infiltrate to help with objectives as needed.
Lastly, a Vindicator seemed like a good balance of firepower to be distributed among hordes, elites, or enemy armomonsters.
A few questions:
-do I have enough Anti-Tank/Anti-Monster between the two Land Raiders and the Vindicator?
-if not, should I replace the two Land Raiders with one Land Raider Crusader for both BGV squads and a couple Gladiator Lancers?
-are there any glaring mistakes or obvious holes to plug?
-do you see anything you’d do differently?
Thanks for all the help with these lists and again, all credit for the awesome Ragnar Blackmane model painted to match the Joytoy Ragnar behind him goes to u/paintvsplastic

2024.05.16 14:22 psx-fan Capcom should Remake RE0 (Zero) before RE1 for better continuity flow

It wasn't a big problem back when Resident Evil (2002) and Resident Evil Zero came out on the GameCube because both were released during the same year and only few months apart, despite REmake being release before RE0. Both were developed at the same time.
Fast Forward to current day, when Capcom decides to Remake RE1 (and RE0) then i do strongly believe that RE0 has to be released first for better continuity flow.
What i mean by continuity flow? when you work on RE1 Remake first and then on RE0 Remake, there are higher chances that some parts aren't matching or something can feel out of place retrospective if you don't calculate everything and being forced to change something later during the development. You can't change the already shipped game drastically once its released but you can add new notes like RE2R did with Jill Notes in Kendo Shop, which has been added later on to the game.
I've seen many people saying that Rebecca in RE0 is presented like being a different character in compare to RE1, being able to kill all the monsters in RE0 without much fear but in RE1 she expresses much more fear and isn't able to fight back. She may be tired from what she experienced in RE0 and honestly when you only carry a Handgun and being cornered by a Hunter, i think everyone would be scared.
But that is just a detail people like to discuss a lot and i believe it could be worse, especially if the new Remakes of RE1 and RE0 change stuff like the Bravo Team is getting more interactions between the characters (which was original suppose to be in the game but was cut in RE1 original and RE1 Remake) or scenario and level design will be changed, replaced or cut entirely, which will cause a lot of confusion and the Remakes aren't 1:1 so its fair to say that Capcom will add, replace and cut stuff in the RE1 and RE0 Remakes too.
Maybe both will be developed at the same time again and both being released in a short time after another like RE2R (2019) and RE3R (2020) was, that would be the best way to handle it.
Even if the continuity flow is perfect in the new Remakes, i still believe that releasing RE0 Remake before RE1 Remake will create more hype and discussions in the Community especially when you put some eastereggs and hints into RE0 which lead to and be answered in RE1.

2024.05.16 14:10 Block-Busted Would you guys say that Russia, China, and North Korea are morally superior to Ukraine, Taiwa, South Korea, and the United States?

I saw this kind of argument from a poster in economy:
Putin has been reelected, most recently this month for a term of 6 years. I don't think you know enough about the Ukraine situation to decide who's lying.
Putin has been extremely clear and consistent about the Russian position vs NATO. Ukraine will not join a belligerent and aggressive alliance against Russia. They see this as existential and are prepared to go all the way to stop it. By contrast, the West is engaging in their usual hegemonic adventurism, declaring anyone who does not immediately obey American demands to be an "enemy."
The Ukrainians are the Nazis. They say so. They wear the insignia, they consider Stefan Bandera to be their spiritual leader, they're completely racist, the whole nine yards. The Russians, on the other hand, lost over 20 million of their citizens to Nazis; that's more than EVERYONE ELSE COMBINED in the European theater in WWII, including the Nazis themselves. If you ever want to get your face pushed in, just call a Russian a Nazi.
You are badly misinformed about history, my friend. Best you crack a history book before getting into any of these discussions again.
China does indeed consider Taiwan to be a wayward territory, captured by their enemy Chiang Kai-shek, the nationalist leader who brutalized Chinese peasants while fighting Mao's Communists. They have made agreements with Taiwan and with the United States relative to the conduct of relations, agreements that the United States has been violating. So who's the baddie?
On to North Korea; during the Korean conflict (war, except the US doesn't want to call it one), American bombers and artillery and soldiers committed numerous massacres of civilians and in fact killed nearly 30% of all of the people in the country. They have been severely psychologically damaged by the experience and submitted to a hereditary leadership structure in return for security. Those leaders were brutal but they held the line and more recently developed nuclear weapons, a feat akin to a nation of hunters and farmers putting a man on the moon.
We created the monster that is North Korea. We have been as belligerent as we could possibly be to them for decades. Small wonder that they hate the West!
https://old.reddit.com/economy/comments/1ct1mix/update_russia_is_expected_to_take_over_the/l49otnk/
Based on this, would you say that Russia, China, and North Korea have moral superiority over the United States, Ukraine, Taiwan, and South Korea? Why or why not?

Monster Girl Tamer #1 is out!

Hey, y'all! 😄 My latest series-starter drops today! It's got a demon girl metal head who loves to cook, a goblin girl with a giant robot, and a muscle mommy oni girl who loves nothing more than to ... wrestle. 😉
MONSTER GIRL TAMER was written for all the TITAN MAGE fans who asked for a monster girl series, so I hope you enjoy it! 😄
Grab it here! https://www.amazon.com/Power-Every-Monster-Girl-Defeat-ebook/dp/B0CVSM8L4G/
***
A red hot, fiery demon girl. A goblin girl obsessed with wood. An oni girl who loves to grip a big sword. And they’re going to help him save the world … how?
Axel Hunter Radcliff has trained his whole life to be a hero. Once every generation, someone in his family is called upon to be a Chosen One, and Axel’s prepared himself extensively, just in case it’s him.
He just wasn’t prepared for the portal.
Now he’s in another world brimming with dangerous monsters beneath a sky full of magic portals … and with no idea what he’s been summoned to do. All he knows is that every Chosen Radcliff has been aided by a support staff of skilled women: a tactical harem.
When mysterious monster girls start wreaking havoc in this new world, Axel is ready to answer the call. He’ll have to draw upon insight borne from every tabletop RPG he’s played and every harem novel he’s read to face them, because these are either the women he’s destined to gather … or the force he’s been summoned to stop.
Either way, these monster girls need to be tamed!
WARNING: Monster Girl Tamer is a fun LitRPG fantasy adventure with a healthy side of heat: sensuous demons, lustful goblins, voluptuous oni, and saucy language to match. (So don’t read it and then complain about the spice. Y’all know exactly what you’re getting into.)

2024.05.16 13:02 rlt542 Monsters Inc. Realm

Hey everyone, first post here. I’ve finally unlocked the Monsters Inc. realm and I am having a nightmare. I’ve took 2/3 clue photos and even googled what the 3rd clue is but it wont accept me taking pictures of it. I’ve deleted & redownloaded the game, restarted my switch & closed the game down multiple times. Has anyone else had similar issues or any ideas of how to resolve it? I assumed it would fix itself after a couple of days but obviously not & it’s annoying me now🤣

2024.05.16 12:46 ur-lefts0ck Searching for one isekai

Hi, so i randomly remembered watching a series while back, i remember this one scene where the mc was stuck at the bottom of a whole (i think he was pushed and left to die) but he used his skill (which had something to do with cooking) to summon idk pots and a spoon to help him climb up? i think that at the end he was very changed (personality wise) like he was colder
now im not sure if this is the same one but if so then there were other people from his world with him (he was the 3rd) and they got to spin a wheel to get a skill and then level that up to level 10 to spin again, the others had pretty powerful skills (mage, knight etc) he got cooking or chef and cpuld see the weak points of the monsters
so yeah, i hope someone can help me find it! thanks in advance!!:>

2024.05.16 12:45 soerc So I tried crit Viego on 3 games on ranked yesterday. Here is my opinion

Hello guys,
opgg: https://www.op.gg/summoners/euw/Tiga%20Mafia-EUW47
yesterday I only had time for 3 ranked placement matches with Viego. I one tricked Viego my last like 100-150 matches and will continue, to only play him. I peaked Plat 1 last season (almost Emerald :( ) so I think my opinion is not that useless as some ppl think.
Placement matches had some variety of players reaching form Gold 1 to Emerald 1 in it so it was a disaster as some could think.
I took some advice from some guy here in this Ubreddit (forgot his name) and went Collector first, into IE 2nd, 3rd item is either LDR or Mortal Reminder depens on the tank they have ( I went for Mortal Reminder because they had mundo on the last game). 4th Item can either be Blood thirster or Shieldbow, which also depends on the situation of course.
For the last item you always go Jak Sho to get those defenses high up, since you already hit 100% crit with 4 items.
Boots are berserker ones.
For the runes I went HOB into Sudden Impact, Eyeball collection and Ultimate hunter. For the second page I went Magical Footwear and Cosmic insight.
For the attributes I went Attack speed, Adaptive Force for Flex and last but not least health scaling or Tenacity if they have alot of cc.
I only had the opportunity to go full build on my last game but I can give you my experiences so far if it could help.
First of all you do insane amount of damage. Like really absurd amount of damage thanks to your crit and HOB. I one shotted a 60% health Veigar with Seraphs embrace, with a simple W and then E, Auto Q auto auto combo. The downside is, you lack attack speed until you have your boots and E maxed out. You do alot of damage like alot but you have to play really careful until you get your Jak sho as last item.
Kinda feels like a Lethality lee sin, where you cant just jump in like when you have the bruiser build.
So you always have to be very patient and let your team engage in team fights / objectives. once you reach the squishy ones on their team with a full charged W, its basically over and you win the team fight. But be careful when they focus and burst you down.
I dont want to say that this is the best build for Viego but I can clearly see full crit Viego with 4 items and a defensive as the 5th become a thing.
But I still have to try the new Bork and the yun tal arrows, I havent played it yet. Maybe a 75% crit viego with Bork and a defensive item is the thing then. You also dont need the berserker boots and can go either mercs or tabbys since you get the attack speed from Bork and your E.
I hope this helps some people, who struggle what build direction they should go.
I know some of you might think me as a hardstuck low elo Plat maybe have no knowledge but Im sure, some will be thankful for my experience.
Wish a nice day to every ruined king here.

2024.05.16 12:30 smcadam Undermountain Session Log 12- Floor 2, Shadows of Vengeance

Perhaps accidentally, the party managed to wrap up a couple of major quests on floor 2 this session. In addition to a very cute dog in attendance irl, we had:
-Freyja, Half Elf Paladin of Mielekee, a gothic woman seeking vengeance on her’s father’s killer.
-Nazar, Goliath Paladin of Tyr, an upright man in exceptional armour, seeking a holy relic.
-Felicity, Aaracockra Bard, a cunning and curious birdfolk with dark musical tastes.
-Archimedes, Gnome Artificer in his owl themed armor, seeking to make magical items.
-Goba, Dwarf-Duergar Fighter-Barbarian, a noble bounty hunter on someone’s trail.
They also have Nanaz, Goba’s manservant, and the vengeful revenant Halleth, as companions.
MIDNA’S SHADOWS
The session began with battle against Halleth’s final murderer, Midna, Cleric of Shar. Her plush chamber was plunged into darkness that especially obscured things to Nazar- except, oddly, the Shrine of Shar which remained unnaturally visible in the black.
Ten shades were conjured alongside two shadow mastiffs to bog down the party, while Midna shot their one light source- a little clockwork flash-walker Archimedes had made. Nazar held the line, barely buffeted by the shades, while Freyja and Archimedes stabbed and zapped her black hounds. Halleth used his new ability, with a cry of “onwards, for Vengeance!” to let him and Goba rush forwards without opportunity attacks to corner her.
Quickly, the shades and hounds fell, and Nazar, able to see only one thing, threw a rock at the shrine of Shar and charged over. This immediately elevated him as Midna’s main target, and she tried to hack at him with a cursed sickle, only for Goba to run her through. Midna died surprisingly peacefully, muttering that it didn’t matter.
In the aftermath, as the light returned, Nazar pulled out his warhammer and set about demolishing the statue of the dark goddess. He felt a brief call, an offer that he could gain the power to see through the darkness like his allies, but he turned it down and smashed the shrine apart. Earning a Curse of Shar.
Curse of Shar- Plagued by the dark goddesses wrath, you are weakened as your memories fade. While cursed you have disadvantage on Saving Throws against Magic, and lose proficiency in one random skill. Each long rest, make a DC 18 Wisdom Saving Throw. On a failure, you lose proficiency in another random skill.
Nazar lost memories of conversations had around campfires, losing a portion of his charm and the Persuasion skill first.
CALL OF VENGEANCE
While others were looted the room for gold, suspecting the feast of poison, and finding nice clothes, Halleth remained animated, stabbing Midna again and again. When Archimedes intervened and removed her holy symbols- offering the undead cleric the symbol of Waukeen, he looked at it with barely any emotion on his bleeding face.
“She never opened her gates to me. Why would that change now?” Halleth growled, “There are more debts to collect. More wrongs to right. So much evil to punish. Can’t you hear the call of vengeance?”
They couldn’t but Halleth grumbled that something- an angel- had reached out to him when he last lay dead, promising to slay the evils of undermountain. And somehow, with this being’s power, the revenant doesn’t die yet. Instead, the party watched uncertainly as he tried to leave, collapsed as his body fell apart, and his soul seemed to sink down into the stonework.
They have completed his quest for vengeance, but something calls him to linger on in the dungeon. Archimedes pocketed the two holy symbols of Waukeen and Shar, and after desecrating the rest of this room, they left.
SPIDER EYES WATCHPOST
Or more like Snake Eyes Watchpost.
With the party still in good shape, they decided to go tick off another notch of a quest, and returned to the northernmost Xanathar Watchpost to take it down. This was a tricky fight, against a dozen bugbears, a handful of human mobsters, a mutant drow, and a corridor full of traps.
Well, it was tricky in theory.
Only Goba and Nazar actually had to face the trapped pressure plates littering the corridor, and their toughness and armour turned aside every dart. Felicity flew over them, Archimedes spider-climbed to run along the ceiling, and Freyja pulled out her bow and sniped from the corridor’s end.
Against terrifying blades and thunderous magic, most of the bugbear runts fell like bowling pins. Shun, the spider-faced drow, commanded his men to try and shoot down the “turkey”, littering Felicity with far more feathers than she was meant to have, and tried to bring down Goba and Nazar with poisoned bolts. He failed. He panicked, and he retreated behind a screen of mobsters and bugbears.
Said goons immediately almost died to Archimedes’ shatter, then were put to Sleep by Felicity, allowing the frontliners to run over them and hack the cowardly drow apart. The rest died quickly in the aftermath, with only a brief tussle where a brawler yanked Felicity out of the air, slammed her onto a pressure plate, and got his mate shot and killed by the dart trap.
Another Outpost clear! Two outta three!
In the chambers beyond, they found a mountainous larder of rations, enough to sustain the party for a hundred days if only they could carry it all. Which they can, using the portable hole. Rex’s body was discarded.
The outpost had a rough map of the floor, some other chests for which they found keys. In one, a crimson eyeball abruptly lurched out, floating into the air with a sinuous tentacle hanging it from it like a malevolent ocular jellyfish.
“SHUN, WHAT’S THE STATU- OH, WHO THE HELL ARE YOU, BOY?”
It’s telepathic voice blared into their skulls, taking in the scene before demanding the Xanathar password- how many eyes does the Xanathar have?
Apparently nine was not the correct answer, and so the eye blasted Nazar with a burst laser blast. Felicity was quick to flit into the air and stab it with a psychic blade, hearing one final thought blare into her mind as it died.
“BRING IT ON, FOOL, I KNOW YOUR FACES, AND MY EYES ARE ALWAYS OPEN.”
Xanathar has seen them.

2024.05.16 12:19 Cadejo123 [REQUEST][STEAM] Monster Hunter Rise USD 10 on humble bundle [7th attempt]

Hello everyone in this beautiful community, today I come to see if I'm lucky and some kind soul could give me one of the games that I wanted to play the most this year.
Monster Hunter Rise is the latest installment of the Monster Hunter saga, in which you take the role of a warrior who is dedicated to hunting or capturing incredible creatures that range from giant crabs to dragons and beings that are almost gods. This installment of Monster Hunter has many new things and a more active gameplay than its previous installments with more ways to cross the map and attacks in the style of Devil My Cry In addition to many new tools and even AI-controlled hunting companions,
I have always been a fan of the Monster Hunter saga. I started with my dad's old PSP. Then I was able to play MH world thanks to my father giving it to me 5 years ago, and I still play it from time to time, but I always wanted to play MH rise more. I've never had the opportunity. What I like most are epic fights and playing with players from all over the world as allies
The reason I can't buy it is that I am a university student with limited resources in Central America, Costa Rica, and I have to reserve resources for things like food and study materials. Apart from that, I help my family from time to time, but I still have a little free time that I dedicate to playing video games with friends online. I always enjoy playing and relaxing, whether alone or with friends. It's the thing I love the most since I was a kid.
The game as a gift, I swear to play it a lot, getting the most out of it, and thank you for it with all my heart and soul. It would really make my year more bearable and enjoyable because I have wanted to play it for 3 years.
Seriously, if someone gift me this game I will play it for a long time, spending more than 130 hours. Thank you for reading my post and I wish you a splendid day :D

2024.05.16 12:19 Mike_From_Red_Deer We're Allowed To Disassemble Salamanders, But Not Other Living Things?

This isn't fair.
We can disassemble the salamanders we can catch for hunter (they act like a 2H very short ranged flamethrower, using ground herbs as "ammo"), but if we go to disassemble anything else alive we get called a monster (achievement warning) and it won't let us do it.
Make it so we can disassemble living things. It's only fair.

2024.05.16 10:16 Barepole92 Cici experimental adjustment ideas

Cici experimental adjustment ideas
From Day One, I always thought Cici would have been a good magic damage dealer. The current season is ending really soon IIRC and I thought this would be a great opportunity to show off my idea. But first, I will tell you 2 reasons why she should be a magic damage dealer instead of a physical one.
  1. Aesthetic
Do I need to provide a full-fledged explanation? Her portrait radiates so much magical and whimsical vibes. Not only that, A lot of noobs on day one of her release built magic items on her since there wasn't a pro build yet.
  1. Gameplay
Currently, Cici isn't really versatile. All her viable builds are the same thing: Boots, Her core item War Axe, Damage Items specifically Hunter Strike/Malefic RoaSea Halberd or Brute Force Breastplate and Defensive items for the rest.
With the new advanced server item additions and adjustments, I think the magic category items would fit Cici's current playstyle very well while also giving her slightly more versatility. I imagined her builds would be like this:
•Boots, Clock of Destiny, Concentrated Energy, Ice Queen Wand, Glowing Wand, and Winter Crown (Debuff-focused build)
•Boots, Clock of Destiny, Concentrated Energy(Could replace with Sky Piercer I guess), Genius Wand, Wishing Lantern, Divine Glaive (Damage-focused build)
•Boots, Clock of Destiny, Concentrated Energy, Ice Queen Wand, Queen's Wing, Winter Crown (Spell Vamp-focused build)
•Boots, Clock of Destiny, Concentrated Energy, Blood Wings, Lightning Truncheon, Queen's Wing (Movement speed focused-build)
•Boots, Clock of Destiny, Concentrated Energy, 2 defensive items, Queen's Wing (Defense-focused build)
Her viable emblem sets should remain the same, maybe War Cry and Impure Rage could replace the 3rd usual talent, Brave Smite. While flameshot could be added to her list of viable battle spells.
Also, fear not. I also thought of a way to balance this adjustment:
Her basic attacks will deal magic damage (obviously), but she will now have a mana bar. The latter should make Cici players more careful with their first skill spamming while also making Clock of Destiny a proper core item of her.
Her passive will stay the same.
[Cici generates a stack of Delight after dealing damage, increasing her Movement Speed by 0.75% and Spell Vamp by 0.75% per stack up to 10 times, doubling the effects at full stacks.]
Her first skill would have lowered HP-based percentage damage in early games since there are less options for magic defenses. Slightly higher scaling because it's magic damage.
[Cici uses Yoyo to continuously attack the nearest enemy within range (prioritizing heroes) for 3.5 seconds, hitting them up to 10 times and dealing Magic Damage equal to 60–85 plus 2.6–4.5 (+2% Total Magical Power)% of the target's Max HP per hit. Cici can move and use other skills during this attack.
If there's no enemy hero within the range, Yoyo will attack Turrets or the Base instead. The skill deals 20% extra damage to Minions.]
Her second skill would have higher base damage in the late game phase and should also have smoother movement.
[Cici leaps into a target direction. If she lands on any unit (not including Turrets and Base), she can leap again in the Joystick's direction. In the air, Cici can control where she will land using the joystick. If she lands on an enemy with the first leap, she deals 200–375 (+55% Total Magical Power) Physical Damage to them.] (The Physical Damage part isn't a mistake btw, this will keep its purpose as a good source of early game AoE damage in case the enemy builds magic defense)
Her ultimate will have higher damage overall, making it a good finisher attack or Initiator. Downside is, the bonds made by this skill can now be broken by CC removal abilities. Note that the marks will still be on the affected enemies no matter what and cannot be cleared.
[Cici throws Yoyo at the target enemy hero and links them with another nearby enemy hero, dealing 275 - 550 (+35% Total Magical Power) Magic Damage, slowing them by 20%, and pulling them together. During this time, Cici can use Yo-Yo Blitz Yo-Yo Blitz to attack both linked targets at the same time. If only one is within the range of Yo-Yo Blitz, Cici will attack the target twice, but the damage of the second attack will be reduced to 20%]
Her skill cooldowns could be slightly reduced due to her build having barely any CD reduction stats, but 2 of her skills will have mana costs, with Ultimate having the highest while 2nd skill will not have any at all
  1. Conclusion
I myself am a Cici main. Yes, I am okay with her current state, but I really wanted to share this neat idea of mine. If you find any flaws in this adjustment idea, tell me!

2024.05.16 09:10 lnArcadiaEgo 24 Australian guy looking for mates from anywhere

I usually keep to myself so thought I'd get out of my comfort zone where I'm usually brooding and see if I can find some mates I may be able to do it with. Anyways my name is Eren I'm born and raised in Australia in Victoria and have travelled a bit for work but would like to travel a bit more freely before I get old and see some more of the world. Also I don't mind the company male or female of anyone who messages since this is just going to be platonic anyways.
So some of the stuff I'm into are Gaming on pc, recently some of those things have been Helldivers 2, Darktide, Destiny, Cyberpunk and Monster hunter
I also enjoy drawing and do some rough sketches, anime, anything horror, philosophy and poetry so feel free to ask me your deeper questions. I also used to do HEMA sword fighting but work usually gets in the way of that.
Anyways I've left some hobbies out or left some vague so it could be a topic to talk about but if any of this sounds interesting then feel free to send a message and I'll be looking forward to having a chat.

2024.05.16 08:43 P0rcelain_Puppetress Does Monster Hunter have enough buttons for underwater combat?

Does Monster Hunter have enough buttons for underwater combat?
I had this thought a while ago when I was playing MH3U, and it reoccurred to me while playing Endless Ocean: Luminous. In that game, you can ascend/descend underwater by using the R and ZR triggers respectively. You can also sprint while doing either ("dolphin kick"), so if you had this functionality in Monster Hunter you could probably both sprint and dodge while ascending/descending in the same way.
But Endless Ocean is not the same sort of game as Monster Hunter. Monster Hunter is far, far more demanding for buttons, to the extent where even with modern controllers, you often have to combine button presses to get a certain move or function.
Controls for Monster Hunter World: Iceborne
Sure, you can just bring it back how it was with the camera serving to change which direction you move. However, this kind of reliance on the camera is annoying even in Endless Ocean, which is why the "ascend" and "descend" buttons exist. Monster Hunter is an action game where players will find it incredibly useful to be able to swim up or down without looking away from their target, the monster.
So, does Monster Hunter have enough free buttons to even bring back underwater combat? Which buttons would you replace with ascension/descension while underwater? What functionality would you disable to allow it?
Personally, I think it would make sense to disable the slinger underwater, but even if you do that and make L and ZL (or L1 and L2 on PlayStation) the ascend/descend buttons, that still leaves the question of where to put the "reset camera & item management" button.
