I am back begging for your help! In the past I have received so many wonderful recs in this subreddit and I kind of danced around one of the tropes I love the most, so I thought I would more directly ask for it!
I am mainly looking for two types of books (both at the same time would be a double treat!): a character hiding their identity to he reader or to the other character which means that the relationship happens/starts under false premises oand MC1 seducing or trying to seduce MC2 for a secondary purpose (which could be manipulation or seeking protection). Because this deals with secret identity, continuing reading might give you spoilers - as in, you might see a book that doesn't present itself as having a secret identity on it but it being on this list might spoil the presence of this element!
Some general examples would be: (for the identity one) MC1 is secretly a prince and MC2 doesn't know, (for the seduction one) MC1 seduces MC2 to try to get access to their house and rob them. Something like this!
The only things I cannot read are: big age gap (more than ten years), mafia or organised crime (but it is okay if it is set in a fantasy world or it is an historical novel), daddy kink, age play.
For some specific examples and recs in case you're interested in these tropes:
Sex and seduction for manipulation or protection

• {The uses of Illicit Art by Wendy Palmer} If I could reread this novel anew I would but I'm waiting for the paperback. A thousand thanks to the person who recced this to me because it was exactly what I wanted. Both MC try to seduce each other's multiple times for multiple reasons. MC1 is a law enforcer looking for MC2 a notorious thief and illegal magic user, and he tries to seduce MC2 to try and capture him. Then MC2 tries to do the same to escape multiple times, but also tries to initiate sexual relations to keep himself safe, because it was the one way he knew how to, given this book deals with sexual abuse and child abuse. Absolutely heartbreaking and beautiful. In general the novel is a Victorian era heist with magic and also great secondary characters.
• {Rough Trade by Sidney Bell} This is another heartbreaking angsty novel about crime and escapes, but set in modern times. MC1 is on the run because he has some information that will take down a corrupt policeman, and he's under the protection of MC2 who is in the police. MC1 has quite a difficult past, with child sexual abuse, being trafficked, prostitution and the one way he has to keep himself safe is trying to give MC2 what he expects MC2 to take. The plot drags a bit, bit I've never seen a novel deals so carefully with this kind of trauma. I think you'll be a bit lost if you don't read at least the previous novel but I still managed to understand most of the plot and I'll definitely catch up.
• {A nobleman's guide to seducing a scoundrel by K. J. Charles} okay this doesn't exactly fit but it still gave me the angst I craved. It kind of fits because at one point MC1 believes MC2 was only pretending to be attracted to him, and was instead seducing him to get access to the house and steal what he needed to steal. It still has a relationship starting on false premises given MC2 was not getting closer to MC1 for the reasons he gave.
• {Mortal skin by Lily Mayne} MC1 believes MC2 got close to him to be able to manipulate him and follow his family's plan. There's also an element of MC2 approaching MC1 multiple times in animal form, to spend time with him without MC1 knowing.. This is a modern setting mixed with fantasy like fae world, so there's actually not a lot of modern. The trilogy also fits the hidden identity lost because MC1 doesn't know he's the son of the Seelie queen.
• {Taming Tristan by Leighton Greene} MC1 gets close and starts a sexual relationship because of a bet. This is also a BDSM novel with primal play, set in modern times.
• {The Alpha's Gamble by Eliot Grayson} also kind of fit, mainly because MC1 has a history with MC2 that he initially keeps hidden when he decides MC2 will pay his debt by sleeping with him. Still, this is at the very start. There's also ba couple of scenes where MC2 tries to seduce MC1 to manipulate him. This is an alpha/alpha book set in modern times.

Hidden identity / relationship starts under false premises

• {A seditious affair by K. J. Charles} probably my favorite KJ Charles book. What a read! MC1 and MC2 meet every Wednesday in a pleasure house, and have d/s heavy sexual encounters that start to turn into something more. Unfortunately they don't know they are literally enemies. MC1 is a democrat who prints and writes seditious pamphlets and MC2 is a gentleman and also the man who is investigating the seditious sentiment in the city. It wasn't easy to reconcile these big difference of ideals and thoughts and make it work but this book does without killing the sparks in both the characters. There's real danger in these secret identities!
• {The Rifter by Ginn Hale} this is THE secret identity series for me and also my favourite mm romance series. I'm rereading it now so I'll write a post on it, but the story is about MC1 who opens a letter for his roommate MC2 and finds a key that will lead him in a parallel world. So many secret identities! Starting from MC2 who is an assassin sent to keep an eye, and in case kill, MC1. MC1, unknowingly to him, is the current incarnation of a destructive god called the Rifter. Furthermore, MC2 accidentally ends up fragmented in time, and the book deals with MC1 meeting and falling (but not recognising) a younger version of MC2 and with current MC2 meeting a future powerful version of MC1..
• {Something Human by A. J. Demas} Set in a pseudo historical world, MC1 and MC2 are from enemy countries, accidentally meeting on the battlefield when they are both left for death. Such a sweet beautiful story, and the reveal that MC1 was actually the elected leader of his city made me gasp. It made so much sense and I didn't even connect the dots.
• {Captive Prince by C. S. Pacat} I don't think this even needs an introduction. MC1 is a prince sold as a slave to MC2, and MC1 needs to hide his identity.
• {Until You by Briar Prescott} modern setting, almost a meet cute story, lots of angst, lovely banter. And MC2 meets MC1 under false premises as he was looking for him as a favour to his adoptive mother which is MC1's biological mother. This also means that MC2 is keeping his identity secret for a bit, to the reader too.
• {The Lawrence Browne affair by Cat Sebastian} a delightful historical novel where MC1 is hired as MC2's secretary but is basically there to check that MC2 is sound of mind and to hide from some savoury people who want to kill him. MC2 does not know of MC1's professional criminal activities.
• {Slippery Creatures by K. J. Charles} is another classic, with MC1 approaching MC2 under false premises and keeping his real identity and purposes secret.
• {Malibu by Emmy Sanders} kind of fit but it was more accidental secret identity. Still I decided to add it to the list too. MC1 is an actor in adult movies and MC2 hires him as an escort. MC2 is not aware of MC1 job but just because he didn't read his file (bit he should have).
• {The ruin of a rake by Cat Sebastian} one of my favourite historical novels and also kind of fit because MC1 is not aware that MC2 wrote the novel that worsened MC1's reputation.

I hope these made sense! In general I'm a big angst lover, anything with hurt/comfort and happy ending makes me happy. I tend to prefer historical or fantasy but I read everything!

I'm not a scream super fan. My memory of the previous scream movies before the last two is mostly faded. I honestly remember Scary Movie more than I remember Scream 1. So my pitch will mostly be going off of 6 and 5. I wouldn't mind if scream fans built off of this or offer suggestions. As I'm sure most of you know Ortega and Barrera won't be coming back for Scream 7. So this movie will not star them. Anyway here's my pitch for Scream 7.
Movie start off with an older woman, probably in her 50's. She's probably doing a mundane task in her home when she receives that classic Scream phone call. The woman catches on early what's going on and immediately freaks out. She quickly turns the phone off and starts to dial 911. Like always, Ghostface appears behind her and begins his attack. The woman is then brutally killed. Ghostface then walks over to a mantle where we see family photos. There are photos of Tara and Samantha. Then Ghostface picks up a photo that was offscreen and we see a 3rd sibling in a group family photo. A male who looks like he is Sam's age.
The movie cuts to the Scream VII title screen and fades to the front of a prison. Reporters are outside the prison and a man with a police escort comes out. From the reporters shouts we learn that he is the 3rd Carpenter sibling and that they're mother had just been killed. One of the reporters is Gale Weathers. He actually stops and stares daggers at her. Gale appears alone and offers him ride home. Left with no choice he accepts. Here we get some backstory. This guy is Sam's fraternal twin brother. He actually learned that Billy Loomis was his biological dad the same time Sam did. Like Sam, he took the new hard and lashed out. Unlike her, he had a hard time fighting his demon. He's someone who spent time in and out of juvie. His most recent sentence was for aggravated assault. He almost beat the guy to death but the hospital was able to save him. So his charge was downgraded. He's spent the last two films in prison.
Prior to that, he didn't have a relationship with his sisters. We can get this backstory from Gale. During this we learn that Gale and lets say "Billy Jr" have been in communication. He gives her interviews and she's been helping him get out of prison. Jr is probably 6'0ft+ tall and jacked. Personality wise, he's a typical tough guy and a hot head. At heart he's not a bad person, he just has anger issues and lashes out. Recent events and being in prison has made him reflect. He feels partly responsible for what his sisters went through. He believes its not fair for Sam to take on that burden and that he could've stopped the killers. Gale tries to reassure that none of it is his fault. That the killers are all psychos and she can see that he's not a bad guy. Jr's words reach him as they park the car in front of this mom's house. He needs a moment and he thanks Gale for the ride and leaves her before she hands him her card.
As he goes into the house the crime scene is still visible. Jr flies into a rage and tears the place apart while breaking down crying. Suddenly the phone rings, he answers it and a girl is on the other end. She is a fling of Jr's and the two catch up. Movie pushes forward and the fling comes over.
We get the classic romance scene where you know the killer is going to pop up. We get some backstory between the two. She's a serial killer fan and hooking up with Billy Loomis' secret son was always a turn on for her. As the two are on top of each other getting ready to tango, Ghostface looms behind them. Jr notices Ghostface, pushes the girl out of the way, and avoids them getting stabbed. This starts a chase around the house. Things get thrown, people get slashed, classic Scream stuff. However going off script, Jr gets the upper hand and proceeds to beat the ever daylights out of him. Its actually scary watching it. He continually pummels Ghostface's face and we can hear blood and bones breaking as he turns rage. Eventually the girlfriend yells at him to stop and Ghostface is out. He pulls the mask off and its some guy and his face is bloodied. Cops come and he's in the back of an ambulance with a broken hand. The movie goes to the next day at and Gale reappears at Jr's house.
She sarcastically congratulates on taking out a Ghostface on his first try. Noting how people always run off instead of finishing the job. She warns him that there may be another Ghostface out there and this one may be more dangerous since he "rewrote" the script. As for the guy he beat to death, police are saying that he's just a Stab obsessed superfan. Jr who know has a cast on his hand dismisses Gale's warning. Gale leaves and makes a phone call. Jr also leaves with his girl friend following behind and a car picks them up. Inside the car is two of his friends. A prison buddy, his girlfriend (girl #2), and a childhood friend of Jr. is inside. This group is the friend group who the story will follow.
Now, I'll cut the pitch short of making a whole script. The group in this movie will prepare for the coming killers with guns. However Jr will have handicap since he has a broken hand. The movie will later reintroduce Sidney Prescott as another member of the part of the group. The killer threaten her family so she's come back. We also learn that Gale received a similar threat which is why she's been hanging around. The first person in the friend group to be killed will be the prison friend. After him will be his girlfriend but not in the same scene. The group will suspect the childhood friend and Jr's girlfriend. Jr will become extremely distrustful of them to the point that he almost kills them before the killer reveal. The childhood friend will end up being killed. Eventually the big reveal will be that there were three killers. Each of the killers are relatives of an innocent Ghostface victim. They targeted Gale, Jr, and Sidney as a twisted revenge scheme. In their mind if no one connected to any of the Ghostface killers is around then there will be no more copy cats or movies. Ultimately they blame Gale, Sidney, and Billy Loomis for all of their suffering. Sidney was the original final girl who had everything revolve around her. Gale wrote the book that sensualized the story. Jr is ultimately Billy Loomis' son and they plan on going after Samantha next.
We see this group mentioned throughout the movie. They are part of a Ghostface victims support group. They want to stop the sensualizing of the story. They wants sales of the books and costumes to be halted. The leader of the group is an older man that we see throughout the movie. Another member of the group is a doctor that Gale and Sidney know that treat Jr's injuries earlier in the film. The 3rd member can be the childhood friend or another party. The movie shows that Jr hallucinates like Samantha does in the other movies. We learn that each time he snaps, he's giving into his hallucinations. Eventually all three Ghostface killers are killed. They limp away as Gale wonders if there's more like them. Sidney agrees that there probably is. We see that Jr has kept one of the Ghostface's mask and tucked it away. The movie ends with him reuniting with Samantha and Tara or finally reaching out to them.

This past summer, SEC Shorts released "What if SEC Shorts was around in 2007?". Coincidentally, the summer before that, I made the Reddit post "What if SEC Shorts was around in 2008?", which itself was intended as a sequel to the 2020 video "What if SEC Shorts was around in 1998?".
With the CFB offseason now in full swing, here is my idea for a sequel to the SEC Shorts What-if video, with 2013 being the year before the start of SEC Shorts. So, without further ado...let's begin.

  • 2-10 record (0-8 in conference)
  • Loss to Western Kentucky
  • Didn't beat a single Power 5 team
• Interviewer: "Um, well, it's just Year One, so hopefully he can become the guy, and-"
• Kentucky: "Yeah yeah, but have you seen our basketball lineup?"
• Interviewer: "Really not the focus here-"
• Kentucky: "Harrison & Harrison? James Young? Julius freakin' Randle?! We could make a run at the title this year. What do you think?
• Interviewer: "I think Kentucky needs to learn to not lose by 16 to Vanderbilt."
• Kentucky: "...ouch."

Arkansas:

• Interviewer: "Okay, so Year One under Bret Bielema started 3-0, and then you just..."
• Arkansas: "Lost nine in a row to end the year? Yeah, thanks for the reminder, Chief."
• Interviewer: "It's just his first year, I'm sure you can turn it around."
• Arkansas: "Would like an SEC win first. Cause I'm really at my low point here. I may be smiling, but I've been dying inside since Bobby Petrino left because having one wife wasn't good enough. The guy reads George R.R. Martin once and suddenly thinks anyone can have two wives, smh."

Tennessee:

• Interviewer: "Tennessee! We made some minor improvements in Year 1 of Butch, and I think you can really-"
• Tennessee: "Minor?! Beating number #11 South Carolina, getting our 800th win, and doubling our conference win total is minor to you? All we need to do now is remember how to beat Vanderbilt and baby, it's smooth sailing from here on out."

Florida:

• Interviewer: "So you finished 4-8 after starting the year in the top 10,-"
• Florida: "Yep."
• Interviewer: "- you lost seven straight to end the year,-"
• Florida: "Correct."
• Interviewer: "- and you suffered your first-ever loss to an FCS program. Is there any way Muschamp can right the ship down in the Swamp?"
• Florida: "Well I don't know, is there any way Jimbo Fisher will ever be just a mediocre, overpaid coach instead of being one of the best in college football?"

Ole Miss:

• Interviewer: "An 8-5 record, a win over #6 LSU, and having 3 of 4 losses being against ranked teams, with the only other one being against the national runner-ups? I gotta say, this is a nice year two for Hugh Freeze down in Oxford."
• Ole Miss: "Yeah, a great year. Definitely will remain in the record books for all of eternity and not have all of the wins erased from this year, last year, next year, and 2016 for recruiting violations."
• Interviewer: "Do you have something you want to confess, Ole Miss?"
• Ole Miss: "HUGH FREEZE DID NOT USE UNIVERSITY PHONES TO CALL ESCORTS!!"
• Interviewer: "I'm sorry, what?"
• Ole Miss: "Uh, nothing." [uneasy smile of Hugh Freeze claiming his phone was hacked when he called escorts a dozen times in 33 months]

Mississippi State:

• Interviewer: "A bit of a decline from last year, but you ended strong with a win in the Egg Bowl and in the Liberty Bowl by 37 points! And that Dak Prescott kid looks really promising if I say so myself."
• MSU: "Yeah, tell me about it. Soon all he'll be known for is playoff success, both here and in the NFL, what with the new 4-team playoff coming up."
• Interviewer: "Now State, it's always great to aim for making the playoffs, but is it possible to set your expectations a tad lower, to avoid disappointment?"
• MSU: "Let me tell you that with Dan Mullen, the Bulldogs of Starkville are destined for success. Yessir, not only will he be staying here forever, but I can assure you that he will never be disrespected in the SEC circles. Like what's he gonna do, lose to a 23-point underdog by 23?"

Vanderbilt:

• Interviewer: "Wow! Going 9-4, beating #15 Georgia, and ending the year with 5 straight wins! This is amazing! We are all so proud of you."
• Vanderbilt: "James Franklin is a goshdarn miracle worker! I tell ya, he's so close to getting us our first-ever 10-win season, and then it's-"
  • Interviewer: (Vanderbilt's phone goes off. He checks it only to see breaking news that James Franklin has just been announced as Penn State's new head coach.)
• Interviewer: (sees Vanderbilt is sitting dejected) "It's okay if you wanna talk about it if you're upset-"
• Interviewer: me, upset? WHY WOULD I BE UPSET!! I guess Franklin just has a thing for schools with abhorrent scandals, AM I RIGHT?!! This never would have happened if we had a well-respected, moral program like Baylor does right now.

Texas A&M:

• Interviewer: "Kind of a disappointment after last year, I must say. You were still good, but I think defenses were able to catch up to Johnny Football this year."
• A&M: "Look, we still beat Duke and Vanderbilt, who are both academic and athletic juggernauts, for your information. Sumlin's already got 20 wins in his first two years in the SEC, so I know he can take us to championship greatness in just one or two years! And we will beat Bama next year, I can promise you that!"
• Interviewer: [unconvinced look of a 59-0 shutout loss to the GOAT the next year]

Georgia:

• Interviewer: "A bit underwhelming after last year, even with beating two #6 teams in just 3 weeks, so how do you suggest finally getting over the hump?"
• Georgia: "Oh, my suggestion? How about praying harder to the football gods so our two defenders don't magically collide and tip the ball in the air, allowing Auburn to get a miracle touchdown in their wacky Disney story of a season?!"
• Interviewer: "Well, I actually meant firing Mark Richt, but-"
• Georgia: "Man, did you see all the mean messages I got from Auburn fans afterward? They are gonna kill us all throughout this next decade! I miss the 2012 Tigers who had a coach who couldn't call a game without Super Cam carrying him!

LSU:

• Interviewer: "You were the only team to beat Auburn this year besides Florida State and two of your three losses were by just one score! Not a bad season!"
• LSU: You think that's impressive? Wait til you see who we recruited: top-5 recruit Leonard Fournette!
• Interviewer: "That's great! And your lineman Vadal Alexander is doing such a good job! His dad must have taught him key values from a young age, that's for sure!
• LSU: "I mean, the guy's a booster, sure, but he's employed by a children's hospital. Surely he isn't going to embezzle $180,000 from the hospital to vacate all our wins! That'd be crazy!

South Carolina:

• Interviewer: "A #4 finish?! This is your highest in school history! And that Jadeveon Clowney? Still a total beast. Pretty sure Vincent Smith's soul is still wandering Tampa."
• South Carolina: "Yeah, but we could have made the national championship if we hadn't blown it to Tennessee. But hey, beating Clemson is always fun! I see myself doing that for a long time to come. I mean, come on, who do you see winning a natty first?"

Alabama:

• Interviewer is working on his laptop only to see a nurse push Alabama in on a wheelchair. Alabama has his eyes open but is completely non-respondent.
• Interviewer: "Is...is he okay?"
• Nurse: "Well, he's been like this since the Auburn game. Ever since...you know, that play."
• Interviewer: "Oh, you mean Kick Six-"
• Alabama: [shoots up from the wheelchair, suddenly awake] "It was SCRIPTED, I tell you! Kick-Six? Miracle at Jordan Aire? It was all written for Auburn to win it all! It's a conspiracy!"
• Interviewer: [scared out of his mind] "L-l-look, Bama, y-y-you still won 11 games! But not everyone can t-threepeat!"
• Alabama: "We aren't everyone! "We're BAMA! But we got back at them, didn't we?! [unhinged laugh] We got those TREES, those worthless trees-"
• Nurse proceeds to inject Alabama in the neck, and he quiets down until returning to his coma state.
• Nurse: "Sorry about that. I'm sure he'll get his own miracle win against Auburn. It may be a decade from now, but it'll happen."

Missouri:

• Interviewer: "Man. SEC East Champs, beating former Big XII mate OK State in the Cotton Bowl, and you even breathed down Auburn's neck in the SEC Championship! These first two years in the SEC have been great for you guys!"
• Missouri: "Have you seen that d-line? Markus Golden! Kony Ealy! Michael Sam! They're gonna get tons of media attention heading into the draft!"
• Interviewer: "Let's hope it's for all the right reasons! And not because some people got upset at something about one of them that was in no way, shape, or form tied to his skills as a player!"

WE NOW INTERRUPT THIS EPISODE OF SEC Shorts TO BRING YOU BIG XII SHORTS!
Texas

• Interviewer: "8-5 season, getting blown out in the Alamo Bowl, and Mack Brown is gone. What is going to take to get back the 2009 magic?"
• Texas: "Uh, did you see we got Charlie freakin' Strong? The guy who just turned Louisville into a post-Petrino powerhouse? Don't worry, before y'all know it, Texas will be back, baby!"

Oklahoma

• Interviewer: "Man, a #6 finish and you beat Bama in the Sugar Bowl! Nice bounceback from last year."
• Oklahoma: "Thanks. It sucked we lost against the stupid Longhorns, but we still beat Notre Dame and, per usual, those dumb Cowboys up north."
• Interviewer: "It's such a fun rivalry you have! I can't imagine seeing it end just because of 'realignment." Like, could you imagine ending a century-old, beloved series just because of money?"
• Oklahoma: "I know, right?" [laughter hiding the allure of playing Mizzou and Arkansas every year while getting paid a lot more than they were in the Big XII even with the very unfair payout distribution system]

AND NOW BACK TO SEC SHORTS
Auburn:

• Interviewer: "You nearly won the National Championship! You beat Bama and Georgia on miracles! What a return to form after the disaster that was Gene Chizik."
• Auburn: "Well, thank you very much. By the way, do the employees here need public transit to go anywhere?"
• Interviewer: "Uh, why?"
• Auburn: "Because we're all riding the GUS BUS, BABY!"
• Cue Auburn and the interviewer partying in the office.

Recently I asked Reddit (Dreadit) for some horror movie suggestions for someone who’s never seen a really horror movie (except for maybe Jurassic Park or Gremlins) and a lot of people told me to watch Scream! I’m actually very excited for that because I’ve seen Ghostface merchandise all over the place at the mall and stuff. I wasn’t allowed to participate in anything Halloween related but I remember seeing people wearing the Ghostface costume for Halloween. So I’m happy Scream is gonna be my first horror movie!
I’m kind of nervous. I’ve never watched a scary movie like this before, and I’m on my own in a dark room with only the tv and computer screen for light. My girlfriend’s already gone to bed because I wanted my first horror movie to be on my own. I’ve got a bag of popcorn, a tub of mint chocolate chip ice cream, and I’m ready to go!
Thank you to everyone who recommended this movie to me. I hope you enjoy my commentary on it! (And just in case people are worried about me missing things due to writing things down, I am going to pause every time I write a thought down, don’t worry)

1. Did old landline phones not have caller ID? People were really just answering phones with no idea who it was? She’s making popcorn to watch a scary movie, just like me. I really hope no one calls me! Lol why would you talk to strangers on the phone?
   
2. Oh, her favorite scary movie is Halloween! A lot of people recommended that to me but Scream won lol Also, I know who Freddy Krueger is! They always have his merch right next to Ghostface’s
   
3. “Cuz I want to know who I’m looking at” I’m really glad my blinds are down. Stop answering the phone!
   
4. Just paused at the part right after the chair gets thrown through the window. That feels like a good place for a breather lol I’m honestly shocked at how creepy this is! It’s just a voice on a phone, but it’s so scary! We know he’s somewhere outside, he killed her boyfriend, but the fact that we haven’t seen him just makes it worse. And he says those horrible things so casually, “I want to see what your insides look like!” I don’t even know what more to say but I want to keep watching, so…
   

Oh, and I guess I just got spoiled on a bunch of other scary movies. I know who the killers are in Halloween and Friday the 13th now lol

1. Oh my god! I really thought she was gonna get away! That was so violent! I literally don’t think I’ve ever seen anything as horrible as him dragging her across the lawn like that and then her hanging from the tree. It was so gruesome! I think I’m gonna pause for a minute and get some more snacks cuz I already stress-ate all the popcorn lol

1. I’m really liking this scene in the video store (I wish I could have seen a video store before they went extinct. It looks like such a fun place!). But Tatum’s boyfriend has a point about Sidney’s dad. We haven’t seen him in forever.

“Now, you’re telling me that is not a killer?” I have to agree with this guy (I’m sorry, I don’t know his name. He’s the one ranting about movies in the video store). I know Billy didn’t do it, it’s literally impossible based on everything we’ve seen, but he has been acting really weird this whole movie and he was even kind of creepy in this scene. I’d probably suspect him too lol

1. Dewey went off on his own when he’s supposed to be escorting Tatum and Sidney and then we see Ghostface in the store! It’s got to be Dewey!

But now he’s talking to the sheriff. Why would he dress up if he’s just gonna watch them and not attack? Also, the calls were made with Sidney’s dad’s phone! His phone was stolen (Dewey’s asking if it was cloned, but… is that even a thing?) or he’s the killer. And if he’s not the killer and his phone stolen, then he’s dead. Either way, poor Sidney! Her dad’s either dead or trying to kill her!

1. This house party looks like so much fun. I never went to one, or had a sleepover or anything. Okay, Dewey just bumped into Gale outside the party. I’m almost certain one of them is the killer! I’m leaning towards Dewey, cuz Gale snuck that camera with her. Why would she do that if she was gonna murder people?
   
2. Wow. I love Tatum’s shirt. Ahem. I really don’t like her going off on her own during the party though. Oh no, this scene is sending up all kinds of scary flags. Oh god, he’s here. Good morning. I attended the event yesterday and the event was okay at best, lame at worse.
The line started forming at 9. I got there at 9:15 yesterday, and they actually were letting the line in a few minutes early. TSA style security was interesting, but the line was moving at a different rate than the items, so some people may have gotten some stuff mixed yesterday. I got seated at around 10:25 ish. Apparently, they didn't say when the event was starting, and we all thought the event was starting at 10...the event was supposed to start at 12 and didn't start until about 1:50 ish. The auditorium wasn't about half full, but MVPs were coming in at 12:30 and people were trickling in minutes before and there was a few spots open.
In that time frame, a few bands performed, and the power went out... Apparently, outage throughout the town of Flagstaff. NAU went down for a few hours.
Anyway, the meat and potatoes were that the event was more of a rally, and I really should've read the email more clearly Dragon Ball Fan moment the event was a conversation being premoderated conversation that had questions preselected already (only fourth students) Kamala touched upon rights and inequality:

• one driving point was acknowledging that the Supreme Court took away constiutional rights: she really hammered down that women have a right to choose what they wanted to do with their own bodies (which I agree with her on a huge level.
• Climate change was brought up.
• Wealth inequality was brought up and paraphrasing, and she brought up that people who make the same amount of money aren't going to be on the same level if their starting base was lower than another person's. Forgiving student loans was included in this, but it wasn't expanded on because it was struck down by the SC.
• Gun violence was also brought up, and she acknowledged that a lot of us had grown up with shooter drills. She's advocating for an Assault Rifle ban and, more specifically, pointed out that the executive branch and legislative branch had different priorities.

The situation between Gaza and Israel was brought he one that got visceral reactions out of students. Like people actually shouting at the vice president, and I saw security moving down the stairs to maybe escort someone else. One of the moderators pivoted to a political agenda in response and how it takes a long time to fulfill said agenda (paraphrasing). * I want to highlight how dangerous misinformation is. The same student that brought this up brought up the "bombing of a hospital that resulted in 500 people dead." Again, I know people wanted the situation to be addressed, but using misinformation was nerve-wracking. We had a panel last night with Politcs and Social Behavior professors and advisors that was canceled: supposedly because one of them got COVID.
The whole thing was that the executive branch knew the struggles were going through and that by voting, we can change things (Our Student Discord is really divisive about this). Kamala said that she didn't want to tell us what do, but wanted to acknowledge that politicians were listening and hearing our situations and issues. She will advocate and wants to win reelection. I respectfully don't feel like it was worth fours waiting to be told that but it was nice seeing her person.
Some other fun facts: * One of the Moderators was an actor in Top Gun Maverick and grew up in Prescott * The State Attorney General gave a rally speech that IMO was better than the conversation. * U.S Department of Education leader and mayor spoke. * The Vice President actually landed in Sky Harbor... but not the airport close by... probably a reason for the delay.
Again, I really wish I had more positive things to say, but the event taking too long, some points being repeated, and the event being too short for what happened, really dragged down the event. It wasn't worth waiting almost 4 hours for 45 - 50 minutes of an event.

Was thinking about the best way to bring in Sid and, if they get her without her wanting to be like the *central* focus of the movie and spread the wealth as well, I think a great opener would be a callback to Scream 4's "I never said I was in your closet" scene with Jill/Kirby and Olivia.
For reference, that was when Ghostface (ironically half of it Jill lol) fucking with those three under the insinuation they were at Jill's house when in reality he was at Olivia's right next door the whole time.
Imo it would be a sick opener in 7 to catch up with the Core Four who are living separately now that they aren't in NYC; maybe Sam and Danny living together, Chad and Tara, and Mindy either alone or with a partner (in case they wanna keep the opening this time all returning characters, which would be a first).
Could be the Core Four catching up on Zoom from their separate places on a Friday night or something just fucking around and catching up/missing each other, and then weird shit starts to go down around each of their places at the same time after Ghostface somehow hacks into their group call (that would also be a first I THINK -- Ghostface on a group call with everyone).
This could lead to a tense cutscene between the three separate locations where you aren't sure where Ghostface is, but just some outdoor lingering shots of a home/apartment but we as an audience don't know which one that is from the shots alone since we haven't seen the outside associated with each character yet.
Then at the crux of that tension, possibly Sam (and/or Danny) booking it over to who she thinks is most in trouble, maybe Mindy because you'd think of the four she's the most in danger because she's alone, Mindy gets something like a final knock on the door and it turns out to be..........
a pizza delivery guy, or something lol. And you realize when she opens the door, its not her front of the house that we've been seeing from GF's perspective during this sequence.
Then we \smash cut\** to a car pulling up in front of the house that has been visible to the audience (cue the "oh shit here we go"), and out steps Sidney on the phone with possibly Gale; maybe with the convo being something brief like mentioning her and Mark are having a weekend away from the kids (still dont' think they'd go as hard to have her daughters in violent danger in an opening), and mentioning something like "ah nah we're in the middle of nowhere, Kirby's (or Mark) made sure it's off the grid. Then she's walking around on the phone with Gale in a shortened version of the Wes in S5 scene, where the audience, now aware this is the house GF is really at, is watching every corner and can pick up on really subtle cues he's there.
But then as she's walking in this rental she's like "sorry hold on I think that's our babysitter" and because she's distracted by worrying about the kids in general just picks up/switches the cell call without really looking at her phone and boom: it's Ghostface.
And guess who is in trouble: Mark. Cue some threats, etc., perhaps a full on lead up to the possibility Mark is tied up ala Steve Macher in Scream 1, until Mark pops out in a jump scare and you're like thrown again; he's fine, and confused to why Sidney's freaking out!
But as Sidney breathes a sign of relief, THEN cue GF jumping out, killing Mark, and a Sidney v. GF brawl happens with GF getting the jump and right before the "Scream 7" intro it looks like he went in for the kill.
This would lead into the movie with the Core Four + Gale realizing GF is back because

1. Mark is dead and its in the news, and
2. It's national news that Sidney Prescott is missing, body not found.

Then as the movie is ramping up, right in the middle (so she gets a slightly bigger role than third act in Scream 5, after shit has already gone down more with our Core + their new friends, enter:
Sidney, escorted by Kirby's FBI protection, meeting up with whoever has survived midway and ready to get revenge with them.
I think that again would be a great way to start new series of firsts:
A. Ghostface group call
B. All returnees in the opening scene, but
C. While a legacy character has been killed in an opening scene before (Cotton), a lot of people have been possibly expecting one to be killed, this would subvert it by making you think they're ALL in danger and at least one is going right away, while still killing off a legacy character, just not one of the core
Along with accomplishing storyline moving aspects such as:
A. Setting up where the Core Four + Gale are (Sidney could be like "so how is the show -- or new podcast if Gale goes off the morning show to follow true crime that way),
B. Raising the element of danger that even though they are all over the map now, Ghostface is back, knows where they all are somehow and its not a localized attack off the bat, and everyone in the mix has the goal of finding each other and reconvening in a less contrived way, AND
C. The set up for Sidney (and Kirby) to jump into the mix later on in the movie and have it justified story-wise (and another iconic "Sidney enters the game" scene like in Scream 3-5.
Thoughts? I got up way too early this morning lol.
ETA: Also, I would love it to be set in Winter time, which would be another first and also a smidge more of an explanation as to why, over winter holidays, everyone is in different locations at least right before they'd maybe hang out over the holidays.

I'm a recent graduate of Kansas State University who moved to New York City, where I accepted an entry-level job as a financier. Upon arriving, I discovered that the company I'm supposed to work at has been taken over by a rival corporation. As a result, they communicated to me I was to be "laid off" before even starting work!
After several other interviews for another job, I was unsuccessful. Through family connections, I end up working in the mailroom of the Pemrose Corporation, which is directed by my "uncle" Howard Prescott, a distant relative I've actually never met. Pemrose was founded by Howard's father-in-law. Howard achieved the Presidency by marrying his boss's daughter, Vera. Anyways, I digress.....
After inspecting company reports I found in the mailroom, I realize that Howard and most of his fellow "suits" (executives) are making pointless or damaging decisions. During one of my mail delivery routes, I notice an empty office in the building due to one of Howard's frequent firings. Using my access to the mailroom and my understanding of the company, I create and assume the identity of Carlton Whitfield, a new executive and begin working out of the empty office. I order supplies through my connections in the mailroom. This was OE on a whole new level.
While handling two jobs (switching between casual apparel and business suits in the elevator), I spark romantic interest from Christy Wills, a fellow financial wizard. I also meet my "Aunt" Vera and am instructed to drive her home in a company limo at my employer's request. She persuades me to stay for a swim at her house and she seduces me....not my proudest moment.
Seeing Howard arrive to the house I say "What the hell is my uncle doing here", Vera and I suddenly realize we're related by marriage! I get dressed as fast as I can and narrowly escapes the mansion without being spotted by Howard.
Howard, unbeknownst to me, is having an affair with Christy. When Howard asks her to spy on Carlton Whitfield (me), whom Howard suspects is a corporate spy for Donald Davenport (rival competitor), she falls in love with "Whitfield", not knowing he is actually me! The Pemrose Corporation is preparing for its impending takeover by the Davenport Corporation. If Davenport Corporation absorbs Pemrose, all workers get fired. Howard, unaware that Whitfield and I are the same person, suspects "Whitfield" is a spy for "corporate raider" Davenport.
My double identity is discovered when me, Christy, Vera and Howard end up in the same bedroom after a late-night party at Howard's home that all four of us are attending. Me and Christy end our blossoming relationship...I get fired from my job as Whitfield, as does Christy for refusing to continue her affair with Howard. Vera is divorcing Howard, since she found out about his affair with Christy and his plan to propose to her.
While both Christy and I are moving out of our offices, we end up in the same elevator and reconcile, conceiving a revenge plan together with Vera. Due to Vera's wealthy connections, we raise enough cash, bonds, and stocks to take control of the Pemrose Corporation, and to proceed with a hostile takeover bid of Davenport's corporation. This was extremely dicey, but it actually worked.
Vera, already hating Howard for his inept business practices which were driving her father's empire into the ground, tells the board about his affair with Christy. Vera promptly announces I will be replacing Howard and the board approves, while security guards escort Howard and his aide, Art Thomas, from the Pemrose Building. Long story short, Christy and I are still together and are planning our future together, personal as well as professional, and I'm loving my new position as President of the company.
What a ride!

Being a cop, you’ll probably have a case that makes you. The kidnapping solved by some beat cop, the robbery outsmarted by an overlooked sergeant. Then there’s the case that breaks you on some fundamental level. A missing child never found, a homicide scene that sends a veteran’s lunch onto his shiny boots, or god forbid something you truly can’t explain. The case that made me was a few years after graduating from the academy. An armored transport truck was hijacked half a mile from my beat in the center of philadelphia. In responding, I had joined the front of the chase and side swept the back wheel of the truck moving through a large empty lot. The truck flipped on its side, taking a few cars with it. In the public eye I was a hero that saved the day, earning a promotion. However, behind the scenes I was on the brink of losing my job, due to the property damage incurred from my pit maneuver. In hindsight, it’s a miracle no one but the suspects were hurt, but I digress. This led to a promotion to detective, with the caveat that I’d be exiled to some backwater southern town deep in the Tennessee woods.
At the time I protested, but I soon realized that fighting it was futile. Resigned to my fate, I packed my things in preparation for my new life as detective of Porterville, Tennessee. My first drive down to the place I would call home was.. Foreboding. That night the pine and oak trees swayed, fighting bitterly against the wind. I was fifteen minutes away from Porterville driving down an open road, with only the moon and my high beams guiding my vehicle. The artificial light was melded with the unmistakable glow of a fire let amuck as it illuminated my brown skinned arms. The sight made my heart sink, as two crosses set alight came into view. Under it were hooded figures that held aloft torches. Panicking, I shut my high beams off and tried to drive as stealthily as I could. The glow of the fire now fully enveloped me in my truck, keeping me petrified as I offered a silent prayer. The glow eventually faded in my rear view mirror, and I sighed in relief, continuing my journey to Porterville.The first week I arrived in town was eventful, learning the lay of the land, how poor of a shape our armory was, meeting the local Cherokee natives, and striking a deal with them. A deal that leads to where I am now, in mayor Jackson's office with a prick named hermann sitting behind Jackson like a kid on christmas. I only caught the end of Jackson's sentence as I exited from my thoughts.
“-Not only did you guarantee them Native officers and limited jurisdiction, it was all for a few pea shooters?! Do you have anything to say for yourself?”
I cleared my throat, relaxing my posture as much as I could as I began
“the deal benefits us much more than you realize. Our armory was piss poor, our officers barely had enough 1911’s and magnums to arm ourselves. Now we have vests, shotguns, an m700 sniper, two colt M4’s, a glock for every man and woman on the force, and ammo and mags to last us till doomsday. But that isn’t the best part, that would be the fact that having tribal cops would cut the area we’d have to patrol by half, and we’d only have to send one or two units to supervise. And besides, having native cops would help the tension around here.”
When I finished, I caught Hermann half snickering before Jackson had shut him up
“I don’t wanna hear a word outta you, the only reason you’re here is because that fat bastard sheriff Coryn is either too busy campaigning for reelection or eating a pie.”
The mayor then took a moment to think, then spoke
"One, I don’t wanna know where they got these guns. Two, you’re responsible for any shit that goes down on their land. Their case is yours, got it?”
I smiled as I looked at the abject horror and disgust plastered on Hermann’s face. But my minor victory was interrupted by the mayor’s phone buzzing. He picked it up and I began to feel queasy as his face turned beet red with anger. He slammed the phone and began to yell at me.
“Congrats Jason, your new cops just found a fucking body. So get your ass down there and paddle them outta shit’s creek!”
Nodding quickly, I turned and ran like hell to my car. Barreling down the road, it took twenty minutes to reach the site of the body. Arriving there, I was beat there by my coworker officer ruiz de la cruz, or just officer cruz to most. Next to her were the two cherokee officers who had first happened upon the body.
“Ruiz, what do we have?” I half spat out, running towards the group.
She shook her head ever so slightly then started. “Nice of you to join. Tdlr, we have a jane doe. Mid twenties maybe, no ID or wallet in her handbag.. But the body is telling me five different things at once.”
she gestures to the women now dead, pointing out various things while continuing.
“For one, it seems almost all identifying markers have been tampered with. The teeth have been removed, the fingerprints burned off, and there are patches of skin surgically removed. The residual ink tells me that those were tattoos that were removed, Jason, someone does not want us to know who that woman was. Then there’s her leg..”
My eyes moved and I caught myself dry heaving at what I saw.
Ruiz begun to tear up slightly, “yeah, some sick fuck took a bite outta her leg, which tells me we’re dealing with at least three killers.”
“Three? This only shows two maybe, and that's partly conjecture.”
“Because all of that was post mortem, at least I'm eighty percent sure. This was ultimately a ritual killing. Look.”
Her fingers fell on where the victim's chest was. There were surgical marks, like from a coroner, implying that someone else took her organs. Ruiz then gestured towards a handbag, handing it to me. With now gloved hands, I looked through her bag, only finding two items of interest.
“I've got something, looks like our vic was an escort. No name still, but there's a receipt from a bar in town. Finnley’s pub, that might be our best chance to get some info.”
She nodded and our group dispersed, Ruiz and I inbound for Finnley’s. The drive remained uneventful as we pulled into the quaint bar. It was late by this hour so my hope was slightly faded, nevertheless I marched in tow with Ruiz. the barkeep welcomed us in and asked for an order.
“Shine for both of us” Ruiz chimed
I followed up, “and some information, have you seen this woman?” I held aloft a photo I had taken of the women, waiting for a response.
The man returned with our drinks and nodded. “Yeah, she came in a couple of nights ago with a couple of guys. Bad vibes from the guys.”
“Did you get any of their names?” Ruiz responded
“Only one of the guys, a big burly lookin guy. Solomon Prescott. He runs a tiny slaughterhouse on his ranch. It's maybe sixteen miles from here northbound. Can't miss it.”
We both looked at each other, downed our drinks, and sped off to our cars.Our bartender did not lie when he said we couldn’t miss the property. A small plot of land, lined with gnarled, dead oak trees. And in the center of it all was a house and barn. I was filled with an ominous feeling as my partner and I raced up the driveway, weapons held tight. There was a light at the barn, and looking at Ruiz, we both crept up to the old building.
“This is the police!” I shouted, as my announcement was met with the blast of a shotgun, kicking open the barn doors.
What followed was an exchange of gunfire, leaving three dead and one man with his arms raised. When we entered the barn, a miasma set upon us. It attacked our lungs and filled our nose with the scent of the dead. Ruiz had damn near doubled over to vomit, and it took every power in my body not to pass out. As I passed the bodies of our assailants, kicking their weapons away from their corpses, I took a notice to strange runes and symbols carved and tattooed on their bodies.
“Ugh… Solomen Prescott I presume?” Ruiz spat out roughly
“Oh yeah, that’s me. And I’m sorry about the smell, if I had known I’d have company I would’ve cleaned up better. Listen, if you guys don’t shoot me I’ll cooperate fully.” Solomen said in a gravelly, matter-of-fact tone.
We both looked at each other in slight bewilderment, then grabbed the man, shoving him into our car before speeding back off to our station. We soon found ourselves in a tiny interrogation room with the man known as Solomen Prescott.
“Officers,” He started, “here’s just about most of the story. I have a.. Taste for human meat. Ethically sourced of course. I don’t know why I’m the way I am but nevertheless, about a month ago I was contacted by an individual who identified herself as “the mother”. She told me that I could have the scraps of her human sacrifices. They ditch the bodies and I get a meal a day. So long as I don't interfere with the will of “the Father”. Any-”
Ruiz butted in, “hold on, who is this father?”
“He’s their god of sorts. At least they think it's their god. But god or no god, that thing is a powerful, old, primordial being.”
“And the people with the tattoos, are those their “children”?” I chimed in
“Right on the money officer, the family of Ead they call themselves. In fact, they’re gonna have another sacrifice tonight. It’ll be at the abandoned hendricks farm” he paused as though he was finished, then interjected one more time. “If you go, bring molotovs, a flamethrower, hell any fire will work.”
We both nodded and thanked him for his cooperation, leaving him in the isolated box.
I took out my cell phone and called Jackson. “Jackson, no time. All officers to hendricks farm. Armed to the teeth and I need a flamethrower, no questions.”
I hung up before he could respond and hopped into the seat of my truck, barrelling down the road to the hendricks farm. Waiting for me in a nearby hedgerow, was the Porterville police.
Armed to the teeth, I gave a quick brief before entering the fields. “Listen people, there are two POI’s wanted alive. “The mother” and “the father” both have unknown appearances but they should stand out. As for the rest, these are the Jamestown type so they won’t go alive. Don’t let the job get you killed, put these animals in the dirt if they aren’t our POI-”
“Are you insane?! Do you know what this means for the dept-” Hermann cut in but was stopped after I stared at him coldly.
“Anyways, we’ll move through the fields. Stay frosty, and stay alive.”
The force of the Porterville police crept through fields, silent and still as death. We neared the end of the fields and gazed with horror. A glow surrounded the ceremony that reminded me of the glow that had shone on me my first day here. A chill went down my spine as I motioned for us to reveal our hand. In an instant, we had all unloaded our weapons into the groupings of armed cultists. A wall of smoke formed on the edge of the field, and walking past it lay most of our dead cultists. There was one woman however untouched, a still beating heart at her feet.
“YOU FOOLS, HOW DARE YOU DESECRATE THE STOMPING GROUNDS OF THE FATHER!” The woman screamed shrilly. Her jett black hair seemed to stand up on command.
Silence followed, but within that silence, the forest remained alive and announced the entrance of.. Something. Torches lined where the ceremony was held, but there was a gap, and through that gap stepped the father. A dreaded silence fell upon us all, some cried, some prayed, and I just stared at the thing. Fear seeping into every fiber of my being. It walked on four legs, it had the body of a mighty elk but taller. Its fur was brown stained with spots of crimson, and a ribcage exposed to the world. Its head was… confusing and indecipherable. There were too many animals on its face. It looked like a toddler had drawn it a little different each time. And atop of its head were two massive antlers, a crown of thorns for a god, real or fake.
The woman turned to the massive figure and presented herself to it, her eyes filled with tears. The thing suddenly gored the woman with its antlers, dropping her to the floor like a used rag. Then that thing turned to us and spoke.
“You have interrupted something you cannot possibly fathom. Your insolence will be rewarded with a fate far worse than her’s.” the creature bellowed, with a hollow yet full voice that seemed to fill the space around it with its presence.
Panicked, I ran to find the party favor Jackson had sent us with. I walked to the thing in trepidation, tears flowing down my cheek. With false bravado, I yelled “then smite me down as a god would, O ye of little faith.” saying this, I hosed the abomination with fire. The scent of char and flesh filled the air as the thing let out a screech that I still can never forget.
It backed off through the path it came from as a few brave officers shot rounds into it.
Then the voice came back to forewarn us with a promise.
“There will come a day when I return from this exile. Your machines offer you a false certainty, for they will fail you eventually. The flesh is stronger than you think, and it will surpass the machine in due time. When I come back to inherit what is mine, hope to your false gods you are dead before my conquest.”
The thing walked off to never be seen, but those words still haunt me. Ever since then, it has been the duty of each officer to patrol the woods to make sure that thing stays in its new domain. But every time I look out to the woods at night, I know that thing stares back at me. Eyes full of hate and contempt. So I write this in case what I fear comes to pass, a record at least, of the murder of Jane Doe and the elk-like being of Porterville. But as I write, I can hear something in the woods call for us all, a headsman growing impatient.

In 1907 you again go winless and blow the Egg Bowl against Mississippi A&M (aka Mississippi State) in a 15-0 route thanks to coach Frank Mason giving the boys alcohol to keep the team warm. After the loss, Mason doesn’t even return to get fired he just ****s off back to Massachusetts in shame. You get to your first bowl game in 1921 and lost the Bacardi Bowl to a local Cuban school. You are pretty much awful until 1935 when you get to the Orange Bowl only to be beaten by Catholic University. That’s pretty much it until 1947.
Part 2: The Johnny Vaught Years: AKA The Golden era!!!
1947: You hire Johnny Vaught who leads you to greatness until the 1970s. You actually win the SEC for the first time ever and beat TCU to win your first bowl in the Delta Bowl. Alright some success for once.
1948-1955: You go up and down over the years with your only Bowl appearance being a defeat in the 1952 Sugar Bowl to Georgia Tech. Even Johnny is not perfect.
1954: You won the SEC only to lose to Navy in the Sugar Bowl. Ugh
1955: You repeat as SEC champs and beat TCU in the Cotton Bowl. Alright a good year
1956-1958: You flame out in 56 but come back to beat Texas in the Sugar Bowl in 57 and beat Florida in the Gator Bowl in 58. Now we are cooking.

Meredith is allowed to go to school (he endured much before and after the riots) only with federal protection. There's little proof the team was in on the riot but in the ruckus caused mostly by outside troublemakers, 2 people are dead and lot of people hurt. Despite this mess, you fry up Arkansas in the Cotton Bowl to finish #3. Many believe if the riots had not happened, you would have won another national title. On a serious note: the 30 for 30 episode is called Ghosts of Ole Miss if you wanna watch it, it’s pretty good.
*Prepare the themes of mediocrity*
1963: You repeat as SEC champs but fall to Bama in the Sugar Bowl. Get ready because failure and mediocrity became your bed partners.
1964-1970: You are inconsistent and do good record wise but have a mixed bowl record till Johnny Vaught retires. Your most famous player shows in 1968-1970, that being Archie Manning the father of Peyton and Eli Manning (you may have heard of them).
Part 3: 1971 to 2007: An era of blue balls and Irritable Bowl Syndrome
1971- 1982: With Johnny retired and Archie going to his doom in the New Orleans Saints (back when they were the worst team in sports usually), you settle into a decade of flat little with Steve Sloan and Ken Cooper as your coaches. You are not very good at all and no bowl appearances of note. The one highlight of this era is that somehow you beat Notre Dame in 1977, giving them their lone loss on their way to another national title. Seriously how the **** did you win that game?!?
1983: the Billy Brewer era starts. You ban the Rebel flag at football games due to an African American cheerleader saying he wont go out until the measure is done. Sure the fanbase wont like it mostly but its the right move. The fanbase responds by telling the college to go **** itself. You still are mid but you win the Egg Bowl against the hated Mississippi state in the weirdest way possible via the Immaculate Deflection (where state kicks a winning FG dead on only for the wind to swat it away). The only time both teams cheered the same FG a reporter recalls. Look it up on YT, it’s just impossible to believe it without seeing it.
1984-1994: Brewer leaves in 93 with a bland record and a decent bowl record the few times he gets you there. Joe Lee Duncan lasts just one year of you sucking, and gets sacked although another reason he is booted out is that he did not get Archie's son Peyton to join Ole Miss as he goes to Tennessee instead, a scenario that breeds a wee bit resentment between the school and their most famous player.
1995-1998: Ah the Tommy Tuberville days, yes THAT Tommy Tuberville. Before he became a current US senator, he was a football coach for Ole Miss. He does ok-ish all four years, his high point being the 97 Egg Bowl where he goes for two at the end of the game to win and pulls it off to beat State 15-14. His low point is leaving in 98 only to sign with SEC rival Auburn. Also in 97 the rebel flag ban finally works when instead of the symbol you ban the sticks that hold up the flag. As for Tommy Tuberville, to this day he is considered a sniveling boob in Oxford due to his betrayal.
1999-2004: You are still a pile of meh pudding under David Catcliff except for 2003. One of his hallmarks of brilliance occurred in the 1999 Egg Bowl, where instead of kneeling to go to overtime, you pass the ball deep in your territory only for it to be deflected by a state players foot, picked and ran back to give state a winning FG, ****ing genius call there you idiots. Anywho 2003 was the year Eli Manning broke out and became a folk hero (he was happy to come to Ole Miss unlike his brother that we don’t talk about who does Nationwide commercials). You tie with LSU to win the SEC West but LSU gets the nod due to the head to head victory. You beat Oklahoma State in the Cotton Bowl to cap off Eli’s brief rise to greatness. Not bad all things considered. Also how the hell do you keep losing to Memphis like every ****ing year. 2003 is also the year Colonel Reb, the on and off mascot of the school for over 70 years is banned on the sidelines by Chancellor Robert Khayat. They try to get a new mascot by fan polling but the fanbase is so PO'ed that they give up for a few years.
*fart sounds*
05-07: Catcliff is gone and Ed Oregeron is here. Before he led LSU to the top, he had a bathroom break here and the teams are poo incarnate. You are wretched all 3 years and blowing a 14-0 lead to state in the 2007 Egg Bowl in 8 minutes is the last straw. Ed is sent packing, ironically becoming probably the worst coach you ever have in the modern era.
Part 4: The era of Triumph and complete death(nearly)
2008: You grab Houston Nutt out of Arkansas and you are actually good? You even beat the Tim Tebow Florida Gators in the swamp the year they win the national title? What just happened, where am i? You go on to beat a much hyped Texas Tech team in the Cotton Bowl as well, hmm easily your best year in a long time, Well Done.
2009: You have the same record as last year but you get skull-****ed by a very bad State team in the Egg Bowl. Even another Cotton Bowl win cant get the stink of defeat out of your fans teeth.
2010-2011: The mascot controversy begins anew when a new search is called for. Despite a strong push for Admiral Ackbar from Star Wars as the mascot (he was a rebel so it works), the school poopoos that and wants something lame instead, it also turns out Lucasarts passed on the idea. Shame as it would have better than what happened to Star Wars when the Disney people got their hands on it. Ole Miss picks the Black Bear as the mascot, nobody gives a ****. Fans of Colonel Reb still make merch and have unofficial appearances at the ball games to this day and the school just said "Screw it", gave up and moved on. As for the team: The Nutt era busts and ends in a complete collapse. YOU LOSE EVERY GAME (granted some are by vacates but still) including the most humiliating loss you ever have at home in getting bounced by FCS school Jacksonville State in 2 OTs on opening day. Oh and every SEC team makes you its female dog, even ****ing Vanderbilt. Nutt is sent to the Shadow Realm after 2011. Good grief your team sucks these years.
2012: Bring on Hugh Freeze, in 2012 he does alright but nothing special.
2013: You start good and go 7-4 and beat GT in the Music City Bowl.
2014: Chancellor Dan Jones continues the ban train by banning the band from playing Dixie, the most famous song the band ever played in their history. Its goes about as well as you expect, Dan Jones is not renewed and sent packing and the end of the school year. You guys get cooking including beating #1 Alabama in the Katy Perry game, the first time you ever beat a number #1. You look great until Auburn rips your heart out by causing a receiver to break his ankle to get him to fumble on the 1. TCU kills you in their coming out party at the Peach Bowl to cap off the season.
2015: You go 10-3, you beat Alabama again at #1 in their own field but your losses to ****ing Memphis, Florida and Arkansas (on a 4th and 25 of all things) in OT jobbing you out of the SEC WEST title. Even an Egg Bowl win against Dak Prescott and a Cotton Bowl win against OSU cant change the fact that *YOU BLEW IT*
2016: Rough year as you fall apart, buckle up it only gets worse from here. You win 5 games but have to vacate everything. More on that in a bit.
2017: Death has arrived. The NCAA is very mad at you for recruiting and money violations that your old OT Laramie Tunsil brings up to the NCAA after a MS State booster blows the whistle. Hugh Freeze also resigns after he got busted calling an escort service on a school phone. Everything falls apart, you are banned from bowls for 2 years, all of Freezes wins are nearly vacated and many players leave the school to wither. Somehow you escape the death penalty just barely. You still go 6-6 and in a cold bit of revenge beat MS State in the Egg Bowl despite being heavy underdogs. As a result of this surprise victory (granted MS States QB got his leg broken in the 1st quarter which the entire country saw on TV in gruesome detail before a quick blackout), you decide to give Matt Luke a shot as coach. The mascot issue returns AGAIN but this time the school kills off the Black Bear and goes with the landshark. The fanbase still doesn't care and Colonel Reb is still considered the mascot to most of the fanbase.
2018-2019: The return to normally being crap is here. You are bland and Matt Luke just is not working. Then there is the Pee game, where you lose the Egg Bowl to state because Elijah Moore acts like a ****ing moron and pretends to pee after scoring a touchdown causing the PAT to be missed due to the penalty costing you the game. Moore rightfully is shunned for this but the school allows him to stay and finish in 2020. Luke is fired for this debacle but you still know nothing but pain.
2020: Lane Kiffin is here, did he get lost? You go 5-5 in the COVID season and beat no 8 Indiana in the Outback Bowl. Fine but nothing great.
2021: Lane is still here? You go 10-3 but lose to Baylor in the Sugar Bowl due to QB Matt Corral getting hurt. Pain...
2022: Lane is staying? How? Why? You start 7-0 only lose a ton and finish 8-5. Then you get killed by Texas Tech in the Texas Bowl. Awww what the **** am I watching here?
2023: You go 10-2 with your only losses at Alabama and at Georgia. You win the Egg Bowl and you actually beat a favored Penn State in the Peach Bowl to have your first 11 win season. What can i say but Bravo.

1. Well, that took Longer than I thought it would!

"Master, they’re gaining on us!” Seras called out, as the auto-carriage shook once more.
The sturdily built machine had been designed for safe exploration through differing kinds of hostile environments and could even resist attacks from C-grade monsters and below. But even it couldn’t handle the repeated punishment of relentless, directed spell casting from multiple mages.
Damn these maniacs! They won’t stop until we’re all dead!
Just as that unhappy thought finished completing itself, another fireball came smashing into the auto-carriage, and this one was so powerful that it broke through their shield screen entirely. Smoke began filling the interior of the vehicle as it burst into flame.
“Master!” Seras cried in panic.
“Calm yourself Seras, we’ll soon be there,” replied Julia Victus, Seras’ master, and a famed wandering Free Knight of the Eun Malum sisterhood. Her voice was calm to the point of sounding mellow, as though she were as disinterested as could be in their growing plight. As always, Seras felt amazed at her master’s unshakable poise in a crisis. Does anything ever get to her? she wondered.
Seras was a wildly talented driver, and despite the fear coursing through her, her skills allowed her to confuse and outmaneuver their pursuers and gained them a brief respite from their assault.
Soon, a pathway leading to the entrance of a large country manor appeared on their screen. They were still some distance away, but Seras exalted at the sight of it! We did it! We did! Safety at last! She sang inwardly, before hailing the house to beseech entry.
“Lange estate! Lange estate! My name is Seras Victus, I am apprenticed to the Eun Malum sisterhood! We have with us a priority passenger, but we are under dire assault! Please provide us sanctuary! Lange estate, I beseech you, please provide us sanctuary! Hello? Hello? Please answer!”
Seras slammed her hands against the radio in frustration. “Damn it! Master they’re not answering! Why won’t they respond?”
“Giving into anger won’t provide us with the answers we seek, Seras,” Julia replied. “Whatever the reason, it’s past time we disembarked.”
Something screamed inside the carriage's motor, and this time its forward momentum ceased completely.
“All right, I’ll admit that’s concerning,” Julia chuckled to herself.
"You think?" replied Seras with much snark.
Julia turned to the side and tapped her knuckles against a slotted door behind her. When the slot opened, she addressed a small figure huddled fearfully in the back of the carriage.
“Lady Nicollet. We’ll be making the rest of the journey on foot. We’re but a short distance away.”
A young teenaged girl with frizzled brown hair, no older than fifteen, looked towards her anxiously; “Have you spoken with my aunt? Is Aunt Ardale there?”
“I don’t know, my lady. We’ve attempted to make contact but received no reply.”
“Try it again! Aunt Ardale must be there! She can easily deal with those people and then we’ll be safe!”
“I’ve no doubt that your aunt is a formidable warrior, Lady Nicollet, but we can’t stay out here and await her rescue. It’s less than ten minutes by foot to the main entryway. We have to leave now.”
“I can’t! Please, I’m afraid!” the girl mewled.
“Don’t ever let fear prevent you from doing what must be done,” Juliet told her. “Seras and I will protect you with our lives. But there are two of us and many of them. Trying to defend this coach will leave us at a severe disadvantage.”
“I said I don’t want to go! You have to listen to me, I said no!”
Julia sighed inwardly. At this moment in time, Nicollet Langier was perhaps the most important person on the entire continent. Her survival could mean the prevention of a devastating war that would lead to the pointless deaths of thousands. Perhaps millions. Protecting her life was paramount and a cause worth dying for.
But by the pinnacle, she could be such an unruly, annoying little brat.
“Seras, escort the lady to the manor gate. I’ll stay behind to distract our pursuers.”
“Master?” Seras asked, deep concern now etched into her youthful face. Juliet couldn’t help but smile.
“You know how much I disdain heroics, apprentice. I’ll catch up to you after I’ve led them on a merry chase. In the meanwhile, get Lady Nicollet to safety. You know the importance of this.”
Seras gulped and nodded. Was she really eighteen now? Julia wondered. Had they been together for eleven whole years? Time was an incredible thing. Sometimes it seemed that everyone was burdened with too much of it. But then it seemed like there was never enough.
“Seras, you are strong. If you believed in yourself a tenth as much as I did, you’d be a veritable goddess of war. The girl will be safe with you. And I will return to your side. Believe in me.”
“Yes…Yes, master! She’ll be safe and I’ll be waiting!”
“Good girl.”

Woooo, look at that death flag fly!
Seriously, that lady couldn’t be any more obvious a goner than if she had the words “Doomed Parental Figure” tattooed on her forehead in bright red ink! Remember Trask from KOTOR? I am totally picking up Trask vibes! She seems cool but she clearly has no awareness of tropes! Tropes are the Death Star of fantasy storytelling! Once they have you locked down, you’re outta there!
Honestly, with an attitude as carefree as hers, Julia should go eat some Uncle Ben’s rice with her nephew Peter! She should also go plant crops on the Kent farm! On her way back home, she could even take a quick shortcut through crime alley! What’s the worst that could happen?
Oh, hey everyone, it’s me! Everyone’s favorite axe now freshly returned from his brief sojourn to the realms beyond reality! Big news! I have magic now!
I also made an awesome new friend who was kind of into me, although I also think she now wants to kill me, but that’s not really my fault, I totally have to lay the blame for that on my previous incarnation who’s sort of a complete dick to others for no reason!
Anyway, just checking in. I don’t actually put in an appearance until later on, but I just couldn’t resist a little commentary. See you soon!

“Nooo, nooo!” Nicollet sobbed as Seras pulled her forward down the estate path. “I told her I didn’t want to walk! That bitch, that stupid bitch, why didn’t she listen to me!”
“My lady, Master Julia is risking her life to ensure we reach your aunt’s home. Please refrain from speaking of her in that manner,” Seras said through gritted teeth.
“I don’t care! She’s going to be in so much trouble for this! I’m a Langier! I’m the Count’s daughter! She’ll be punished for this, I don’t care how famous a knight she is, my daddy is the strongest man in the world—”
“And yet, it’s your aunt you’re turning to for protection,” Seras noted.
“Only because Daddy is too far away to be reached! If he knew what was happening, he’d come thundering in and smite all those stupid, stupid people! You worthless Eun Malum included!”
“And yet, here we are, the only ones preventing you from suffering an ignoble ending at the end of their daggers. One would almost think a little gratitude would be called for.”
“Don’t tell me how to feel, you up jumped commoner trash! You sound like some potato farmer from the western boonies! What kind of a knight are you supposed to be?”
“The kind that is sorely tempted to leave your stupid ass behind to die!” is what Seras envisioned herself saying before slapping the bratty little toad into next week.
Instead, she took a deep breath and calmed herself before saying, “Shows what you know! My family grew corn too!”
“Like I give a shit!” the gracious Lady Nicollet Superbia Langier said contemptuously.

It took far too long for her opponents to arrive. Julia was annoyed by that. She put forth a good image of patience for others to admire, but she in fact hated being made to wait for other people. It was the struggle of her life. She’d be ready to go, others wouldn’t be, and she would have to wait.
It happened all the time.
And now it appeared that these war-seeking imperialist swine seemed to value their time even less than Julia’s friends. Why was everyone always so damn slow?
Julia stood beside her damaged auto-carriage, leaning against the side of it as their own vehicles finally pulled up. Out piled a large group of warriors bearing open steel, and sorcerers crackling with elemental energy, pointing their hands at her. At their head stood a large, heavily muscle man in black armor, with a shaven head. His scarred face scowled at the sight of Julia; his eyes blazed with the intensity of his anger towards her.
“I told you!” he said. “I said you wouldn’t get away from me, you crazy bitch! Tell me where the girl is!”
“No need to shout, Denard,” Julia replied calmly. “It’s hard to have a discussion with someone if you’re just going to fly off the handle from the start.”
“We’re not having a discussion, Julia! You’re surrendering! Now tell me where Nicollet Langier is, if you know what's good for you!”
“Well, I just can’t do that. Lady Nicollet values her privacy and doesn’t wish to be disturbed.”
“FUCK this!” Denard screamed. “Fan out and find them, they’re probably trying to find entry into Lange’s residence. I’ll deal with this idiot and catch up to you!”
“My apologies, lads, but no one’s going anywhere,” Julia said regretfully. She then made a quick gesture with her hand. An enemy sorcerer felt a slight uptick in the wind, realized what was about to happen and then screamed a warning. “SCATTER! TORNADO STRIKE—
Too late for all of them.
Julia did not like using [Tornado Strike]. She especially did not like ambushing people with it. Men should die cleaner deaths than that. But when you’re outnumbered, you did what you could to even the odds. And anyway, they had only themselves to blame. They gave her far too much time to build up the spell.
“Well, that was easier than I imagined it would be,” Julia smirked as the dust and debris began to settle.
“MURDERER!” Denard howled furiously as he smashed into her, his chest now bare due to his armor being destroyed; his face was covered in bleeding welts, but otherwise he was unharmed.
Unharmed even though he’d stood dead center in the [Tornado Strike]! Julia had just enough time to feel her eyes widen in amazement at the sight of him before he collided with her and sent her soaring through the air.
Damn bastard is always so durable! Julia thought to herself angrily, and then she desperately rolled away as he brought a heavy foot stomping down where her head had been.
It seemed she'd been playing this game with Denard for ages. Across multiple towns and cities and two entire continents, he'd relentlessly pursued her. Not only did he never give up, he also refused to die! It would have been admirable if it weren't so exasperating!
“You should have just given me the girl!” Denard roared. “Why do you stupid little people always do things like this? I said I wasn’t going to kill you! Some of the men you just killed were my friends, you psycho! Who does shit like that?”
“Is there anything worse than a murderer playing at being a victim?” Juliet asked him, before lashing out with her Mithril daggers. To her surprise, she couldn’t penetrate his skin! As hard as she stabbed at him, the points simply slid away on contact, barely scratching him.
“I’m the murderer?” Denard raged. “You kidnapped the Count’s daughter! You’ve carved up dozens of honest soldiers sent to rescue her! You just wiped out an entire squad and tried to kill me with them! You are utterly disconnected from reality, and I am sick of your shit!”
“Denard, you don’t even understand what’s going on—”
“I don’t care! This pursuit has gone on long enough! Just give up already!”
“Sorry big man, but surrender isn’t in the Eun Malum codex.”
“You’re dying over nothing!”
“Says the lapdog of the conspiracy!”
“Can you hear yourself? What are you even talking about?!”
Julia lashed out with [Wind Strike]. It was a powerful spell that should have lifted Denard off his feet and sent him flying away. Instead, he planted his feet and braced himself against it, and was merely pushed back a half meter. Damn it! Why is he so strong?
Julia decided it was time to fall back. Once more, Denard had proven to be an opponent beyond her skills. It was a frustrating thing to admit, but that was life. When you can win, you should win. When you had to retreat, you should retreat. Stubbornness didn’t get you anything.
Using [Grace of the Wind] , she turned and fled. She dearly hoped the defenses Ardale Lange’s home possessed would be enough to keep Denard repelled. Otherwise, things weren’t looking too well. Oh, well. Looks like I’ll catch up to Seras sooner than I thought I would. Heh, won’t she be relieved—
Lights. Heat. Force. PAIN.
When Julia came too, she realized her right ankle had been shattered and her ribs had been broken. She looked around in a daze, then realized what had happened.
The bald bastard threw my auto-carriage at me. HE THREW THE WHOLE DAMN THING. Oh, that’s just ridiculous!
“Stay down, I’ll have a medic summoned for you,” Denard said, as he walked towards her.
Julia coughed painfully and felt blood speckle her lips. “Oh, no need. I feel fresh as a daisy, Denard.”
“Just shut up and stay still! Damn it, why did you have to escalate things like this?”
“Ask your masters if you’re not afraid to find out,” Julia burbled in reply.
“Enough conspiracies! Too many people have died already. Fuck, Julia, you were a hero! Look at you now. And I have to be the one to have done this to you! I fucking hate this.”
Julia laughed as she slowly clambered to her feet. “God, Denard, I did just try to kill you. It’s okay not to feel bad about things ending up this way.”
“Well, I fucking do, okay? I don’t like hurting anyone. It’s so fucking easy too, you people are all like glass.”
“Eh, I really could do with some of that giant’s blood of yours myself, right about now,” Julia chortled. “Oh, well. Let’s get this finished.”
Denard's frown grew even deeper, which really ought to have been impossible. “Just stop it! I’ll have the girl within the hour. It’s all over. Sit there and wait for treatment.”
“Denard, you really are too nice for this line of work,” Julia said. “If I let you take me in, I’ll be tortured and worse. Ah, don’t say of course I won’t. That’s just ignorance on your part. I’ve impeded your masters for years and for that, they’ll make me suffer in ways I can’t describe. It’s for the best if my story ends right here.”
She raised her remaining dagger and ignoring the agony in her ankle, she took a ready stance.
“Sit down, Julia!” Denard ordered. “Sit the fuck down!”
“Your eyes are as vulnerable as those of anyone else, Denard. I’m going to poke them out.”
“No, they aren’t! Others have tried before!”
“But I’ll succeed where they failed! Are you ready to spend the rest of your life in blindness?”
“Julia please, just sit down!”
“Can’t. Won’t. Here I come!”
“SIT! I TOLD YOU TO SIT—
Julia came at him, her dagger aimed directly for his eye, just as she said it would be. Before it could connect, Denard’s fist pushed through her chest, and destroyed her heart. She was dead instantly. Denard caught her body before it fell and held it sadly as her life’s blood poured away.
“Damn it. Damn you for making me do that,” he said sadly.

I didn’t know axes could get headaches. Did you?
Gosh, when I woke up that night, I felt stiff! It was the complete opposite of restful sleep! It was more like arrested sleep, you know?
Where was I at, anyway? Gosh, it sure was dusty! All the furnishings had cloth coverings on them. As for me, I was hanging from a mantle, placed directly over a fireplace. What? Looking from side to side, I saw similar weapons being displayed on the wall. What in the name of the Frito Burrito was going on here?
Someone had claimed my unconscious axe body and made me…a trophy!
Honestly, it felt pretty flattering.
I mean, gosh, it’s nice to be admired! I could imagine lots of posh, nicely dressed people sipping their fizzy, expensive drinks while discussing how great I am.
“I do say, Duffy. This particular axe does in fact exude a tremendous amount of shall we say, ass-kicking splendor? Does it not completely rock to you?”
“Indeed, Prescott! Truly this weapon is beyond the beyond! The sort of magnificent axe we should be pleased to sacrifice a roasted beast to, in order to appease its appetite and avoid its wrath!”
“I agree, old boy! We should also offer it many temple prostitutes to slake its lust for the flesh of the beautiful!”
“Does that include men?”
“I think it would be genuinely flattered by the attention but I’m picking up an aura that would indicate that it doesn’t sleep with dudes.”
“Well, it might. I mean, it’s an axe. No gender, really.”
“Yes, but axes are very phallic weapons, wouldn’t you agree?”
“Not as much as swords are! Swords are just steel dicks with pommels!”
“Hmm, it’s a very complicated situation, isn’t it? You know, just to be safe and to avoid offending anyone, let’s not have any prostitutes at all.”
“I think you’re right. That’s a good, sensible decision.”

"A terrible clang rang out through King Prescott's chambers, as the breastplate hurled in frustration clattered off the wall, followed swiftly by the rest of the King's armor. He had a battle to lead, but his injured leg refused to support him.
'COOPER!' roared the King, and in moments his squire stood at his bedside, with a speed befitting his nickname of 'Rush'.
'This battle is too important, and Dallas requires her King on the field, but clearly...' he gestured with disgust at his uncooperative leg, 'I am not fit to fill that role today. So, gather my armor, and the King's helm, the one with faceplate. And put it on.'
'But my lord,' Cooper had a thousand protests ready at his lips, but one angry look from his King quashed them before he could give them voice.
'We are out of time and options. You are the King today. Keep silent, keep your face covered, and listen to your captains and we might get through this without any more disasters.'
The tone of King Prescott's command leaving no room for further discussion, Cooper swiftly garbed himself in the King's gear, and when the time came was escorted to the battlefield in his place. Cooper quickly learned that if he simply remained still and looked sternly out over the battlefield, the fighting more or less took care of itself.
And for a time this seemed like enough, with Diggs and Micah covering their flanks, and Ezekiel and Pollard leading the vanguard. But the tide was turning, and it seemed the enemy was pushing the Dallas vanguard near to breaking. Without reinforcement, defeat seemed inevitable.
Shaking like a leaf, Cooper drew his sword to take the only option left. Mustering his personal guard of Amari, Ceedee, and Wilson, he charged into the fray. Though he was nowhere near the leader or swordsman his King was, Cooper and his men were able to cause enough confusion to regain the advantage. At least, that was what Cooper was thinking before a hammer blow slammed him from his horse, and darkness took hold of him.
It felt like only a moment had passed before he gingerly reopened his eyes, but the setting sun told a different story. How long had he been out...?
'Back with us, "Your Majesty"?' laughed Ezekiel, crouching beside Cooper. Cooper panicked and reached for his helm, but the faceplate was still in place.
'Don't worry Rush, your and Dak's little secret is still safe, but I know my friend too well for that. Anyways, just rest there, you did enough to open them up, we can take it from here.'
As Ezekiel charged back to the fray, Cooper slowly dragged himself to his feet. With every bone in his body aching, he silently prayed that this would be the last time he was called on to play King." -The Gospel of Jones

Northern Arizona VA Health Care System (NAVAHCS) in Prescott, AZ is excited to welcome volunteers back and is hosting a Welcome Back Celebration on June 1st.
Due to COVID-19, VA had to temporarily suspend volunteer activities but now they are excited to Welcome Back the volunteers and encourage new volunteers to joins the NAVAHCS Team!

Volunteers are essential to the VA’s mission and at NAVAHCS, the volunteers are part of the family. Whether you are a volunteer at the Information Desk, Patient Escort, the Warehouse or in one of the Patient Care areas, you are vital to the care Veterans receive every day.

I don't think this is against the rules, but mods will let me know. Below you'll find Dane Brugler's profile from his annual draft guide (aka "The Beast") as well as a few thoughts from myself. I included Brugler's "strengths," "weaknesses," "summary," and "grade" since I thought those were the most relevant things that you can't find elsewhere online. I also included where he ranked each player overall (if he had it) and within their position group. The ellipses in the bodies of text are there in the guide and I'm not editing that shit, so it's just gonna have to look a bit funny. This took a long time, so I hope you find the content worthwhile.

Round 1, Pick 23: Christian Darrisaw - LT, Virginia Tech

STRENGTHS: Girthy, well-distributed frame…quick out of his stance to win body angles and shield defenders…a tad heavy, but stays coordinated mid-shuffle to sit in his stance and remain square to rushers…shows the ability to thud with his physical hands, locking out and stonewalling rushers…stays patient in his pass-sets and uses a flexible coil to push rushers wide of the pocket…balanced once engaged to steer defenders in the run game…carries his weight well as a puller…gets his hips turned in the hole to seal…climbs to the linebacker level and escorts his target away from the play…introverted personality, but work ethic hasn’t been a question for him…his coaches have highlighted his toughness (Virginia Tech head coach Justin Fuente: “He’s an absolute warrior”)…started all but two games at left tackle the last three seasons.
WEAKNESSES: Gives up ground when he doesn’t play strong or accurate with his hands…could improve his base strength with better knee bend at the point of attack…doesn’t always dominate his opponent like he should, pushing his target instead of controlling…needs to consistently fight through the whistle, showing the bad habit of winning quickly and then becoming a spectator…will play down to his competition…doesn’t have elite lateral quickness…too reactive at times, leading to grabby hands…missed one game as a junior due to a left knee sprain (November 2020).
SUMMARY: A three-year starter at Virginia Tech, Darrisaw lined up at left tackle in offensive coordinator Brad Cornelsen’s inside/outside zone scheme. He went widely overlooked as a high school recruit, but he developed quickly and made 35 starts at left tackle for the Hokies the last three seasons, earning the attention of NFL scouts in the process. Keeping his weight over his toes, Darrisaw shows efficient slide quickness in pass pro and he is a bulldozer in the run game, unlocking his hips to create movement or seal block. While he shows the ability to manhandle defenders once he locks on, he tends to hit the cruise control button towards the end and his lack of a killer instinct is unsatisfying. Overall, I wish Darrisaw was a more consistent finisher, but he has outstanding body control and feet for a man his size and shows the technique and torque to be an NFL starter at either tackle or guard.
GRADE: 1st Round (No. 17 overall), 3rd ranked OT
My thoughts: Brugler has Darrisaw as his third tackle. That seems to be where most had him, and it sounds like the folks who like him really like him in a zone scheme. Snap reaction to drafting Darrisaw in a vacuum is a "hell yeah" from me, let alone when you factor in the trade Rick pulled off in the process.

Round 3, Pick 66: Kellen Mond - QB, Texas A&M

STRENGTHS: Big-arm passer to drive the ball to every inch of the field…rips off strikes when falling off balance or retreating and doesn’t require much to add RPMs on his throws…uncorks beautiful deep balls…throws well moving left or right…light, quick feet with strong acceleration due to his long strides…stands strong in the pocket and won’t allow swipes by rushers to faze him…improved eye discipline and occasionally moves or holds safeties to create passing lanes…durable and holds the school-record with 44 starts…takes hard coaching without losing his cool demeanor…finished his career with most Texas A&M passing records and became the third SEC quarterback with 9,000 passing yards and 1,000 rushing yards in a career (along with Tim Tebow and Dak Prescott).
WEAKNESSES: Throws a lot of lasers, but struggles to layer balls in between levels of coverage…angular body type with tight, wound-up movements and passing mechanics…pre-determines throws and guilty of staring down his targets…ball placement wavers more than you want to see…not shy forcing the ball into heavy coverage…makes too many high-risk decisions and throws that shouldn’t be made…lacks efficiency in his reads, which leads to tardy throws…struggles to locate blitzers pre-snap…frenetic pocket presence…mobile athlete, but doesn’t have make-you-miss moves or tackle-breaking strength…doesn’t play as confident on the road compared to at home (47-11 TD-INT ratio at home, 24-16 ratio on the road).
SUMMARY: A four-year starter at Texas A&M, Mond spent one season in Kevin Sumlin’s offense before head coach Jimbo Fisher brought his spread, pro-style scheme to College Station. He leaves as the school’s all-time leader in passing yards (9,661), completions (801), attempts (1,358), passing touchdowns (71) and total offense (11,269). Mond has impressive highlights with his ability to rip off beautiful throws downfield or extend plays with his legs. However, his lowlights are red flags, staying laser-locked on his targets and struggling to pick up pressures. Overall, Mond is in the Colin Kaepernick mold with his lean, angular frame, strong arm and long-striding athleticism, but his ball placement, timing and decision-making lack consistency. His natural tools will push him up several draft boards.
GRADE: 4th Round, 8th ranked QB
My thoughts: Finally, we get our shot to time it right and have our next QB waiting in the wings. The more I watch about Mond, the more I like him. Dude can sling it, throw off schedule and off balance, and he can MOVE. For what it's worth, Simms likes him a lot too, which is a nice little vote of confidence.

Round 3, Pick 78: Chazz Surratt - LB, North Carolina

STRENGTHS: NFL-caliber athlete, checking boxes for his body fluidity, chase skills and pursuit acceleration…quick to read his keys and flows to the lane…improved his ability to avoid blockers and swarm to the football…closes with burst as a blitzer…plays with the snap anticipation to scrape through gaps and disrupt the backfield action (he had 22.5 tackles for loss in 22 starts at linebacker)…leads with his face and brings his feet as a tackler…much tougher and combative than expected for a former quarterback…instinctively reads routes and undercuts passing lanes…smooth footwork to drop and stay connected to backs out of the backfield…self-motivated competitor and worked hard to transform his body and make the mental transition to linebacker…two highly productive seasons at linebacker, averaging 9.4 tackles per game.
WEAKNESSES: Short arms and his body appears near maxed out…undisciplined run fits…can be redirected or taken for a ride by blockers, lacking thump in his take-on skills…struggles shedding when he is squared up…eyes are laser-focused on the football and needs to improve his block recognition…fly-by pursuit angles and struggles to break down as a tackler on the move (21 missed tackles the last two seasons)…spends too much time on the ground…needs to better attack body positioning in coverage versus post-up tight ends…older prospect and will be 24 on draft weekend…served a four-game NCAA suspension for selling school-issued shoes (September 2018)…his high school career was ended by ligament damage in his left elbow (November 2015); missed most of his sophomore season with torn ligaments in his right wrist (September 2018), requiring surgery…only two years of experience at linebacker.
SUMMARY: A two-year starter at North Carolina, Surratt lined up at inside linebacker in co-defensive coordinator Tommy Thigpen’s 3-4 base scheme. With the NFL on his mind, the former quarterback voluntarily made the switch to linebacker (a position he hadn’t played since ninth grade) prior to his junior year, making a surprisingly smooth transition (206 tackles over 22 starts). Surratt is field fast and moves really well at the position to cover, blitz or chase down the run, showing the smarts to consistently be around the football. However, his take-on skills and finishing ability aren’t yet strengths to his game, and he sticks to blocks and often arrives too hot as a tackler. Overall, Surratt must improve his run fits and develop in several areas, but he has the athleticism, instincts and competitive toughness to be a high-volume tackler and run-around weakside linebacker in the NFL.
GRADE: 3rd Round (No. 97 overall), 8th ranked LB
My thoughts: I will admit I don't know much about this guy, but I don't like this pick. I felt like there were better LB options available, even if we wanted a "modern" undersized LB who can run and cover. I don't like what I've seen from Chazz in the few snaps I've watched. The effort is there and is sometimes rewarded, but he plays small and light. I don't have a problem with the pick in a vacuum, but in the 3rd round I just don't see the value. I feel like in any other draft, I don't see him as a third round pick. That said, Brugler's writeup above inspires some confidence so I hope I'm wrong.

Round 3, Pick 86: Wyatt Davis - G, Ohio State

STRENGTHS: Solid muscle mass and carries his weight well…quick out of his stance and immediately achieves a balanced position…flashes explosiveness in his upper body, creating immediate stopping power at contact…removes defenders from their feet and looks to bury his man…strikes and resets with physical hands…efficient shuffle quickness and pulling skills, getting out on the perimeter and using athleticism to cover up defenders…finishes the mission as a run blocker, scooping and driving…sees things quickly to handle twists, locating his targets from distance…named a 2020 team captain and his coaches call him “courageous” for his willingness to play through injuries…started 24 straight games to finish his college career.
WEAKNESSES: Tends to play narrow in his set points, allowing defenders to attack his edge…on the ground too much, getting his upper half extended and falling off contact…needs to keep his weight centered instead of lunging…outstanding grip strength, but has the bad habit of grabbing too much cloth…his pad level will rise in pass pro and long-armed rushers are able to get into his chest…suffered a left knee injury as a junior against Michigan State (December 2020) and reinjured it in the National Championship Game vs. Alabama (January 2021).
SUMMARY: A two-year starter at Ohio State, Davis was locked in at right guard in head coach Ryan Day’s offense, earning All-American honors the past two seasons. The No. 1-ranked guard recruit out of high school in 2017, he was pressed into action as a redshirt freshman and didn’t give the job back, starting 24 straight games to finish his career. In pass protection and as a run blocker, Davis is quick to get the upper hand due to his striking power, body control and competitive nature. While his physical appetite is a strength, he can be too eager to initiate contact without getting his feet underneath him, leaving him off-balance and on the ground. Overall, Davis must play under control and improve his snap-to-snap consistency, but his forceful hands, powerful anchor and finishing skills are NFL-ready. He projects as a guard who will compete for immediate snaps.
GRADE: 2nd-3rd Round (No. 63 overall), 5th ranked guard
My thoughts: Fuck yeah. Absolute fuck yeah big boy shit right here. Let's run through some faces. And my god, the value. I know Rick was boned up when he called in this pick.

Round 3, Pick 90: Patrick Jones II - DE, Pittsburgh

STRENGTHS: : Prototypical NFL size for edge work…flashes an initial burst and a closing burst…uses his length to set a hard edge or strike the chest of blockers, jolting and maintaining space at the point of attack…keeps his legs pumping at contact to force his way through bodies…effective with stunts and twists…strong hands to swipe at the top of his rush…competes with consistent hustle to the ball carrier, making plays from the backside or outside the numbers…his intelligence is clear both on and off the field…named a senior captain and is highly respected within the Pitt program (head coach Pat Narduzzi: “He’s really become a leader…he is special in every way.”)…consistent production over his two seasons as a starter, leading the team in tackles for loss in 2019 and sacks in 2020.
WEAKNESSES: Inconsistent body control turning the corner, finding himself too far upfield…lacks quick-twitch muscle movements mid-rush…inconsistent rush plan and counter measures, playing more disorganized than efficient…snap anticipation runs hot-cold…often arrives in the pocket too wild, flailing and sliding off the ball carrier – needs to better calm his feet and break down in small spaces…flashes violent hands, but inconsistent shed skills…needs to consistently drop his pads to be successful on speed-to-power moves…needs to do a better job containing outside runs…an instinctive player, but too often he attacks then reads, leading to misplays.
SUMMARY: A two-year starter at Pitt, Jones lined up at left defensive end in head coach Pat Narduzzi’s four-man front, forming one of college football’s best pass rushing duos in 2020 with Rashad Weaver. From learning how to play football as a freshman in high school in Japan to becoming a senior captain at Pitt, he has come a long way in his journey, combining for 25.0 tackles for loss and 17.5 sacks the last two seasons. A pin-your-ears-back rusher, Jones plays his tail off and when he finds a pursuit/rush lane, it is like a bull seeing red. However, he is an “all gas, no brakes” type of player, which is both a compliment (speed, effort) and a concern (inconsistent handwork, over-running plays). Overall, Jones is a linear rusher who needs to be more efficient with his plan of attack and execution, but his length, burst and mindset are encouraging foundation traits. He projects as a potential NFL starter in a 4-3 base.
GRADE: 3rd-4th Round, 14th ranked edge rusher
My thoughts: Love the measurables, love the violent playstyle. At this point, I get hyped for any DE we draft in the 3rd - 7th rounds. All hail Andre Patterson.

Round 4, Pick 119: Kene Nwangwgu - RB, Ohio State

STRENGTHS: Explosive athlete…above-average speed with impressive track background…quick gather-and-cut skills and can mash the turbo button at any moment…has quick eyes to find a crease…able to press backside before shifting gears to burst frontside…highly productive kick returner, averaging 26.8 yards per return in college with one touchdown (92/2,470/1)…the coaching staff doesn’t hide its respect for him (head coach Matt Campbell: “He’s unselfish, wants what’s best [28] for the team and is willing to stand up for what’s right, both on and off the field”)…fumbled only once on 242 total touches…4.0 GPA student in high school and 3.76 GPA in college.
WEAKNESSES: Small body of work on offense with only three games in his career with double-digit carries (10, 11, 11)…eager to show off his speed, but needs to improve his patience and allow blocks to develop…plays in overdrive and his game lacks tempo…has a hint of stiffness in his hips, which will hinder his ability to sink or redirect…unproven pass catcher — saw 10 catchable targets in college, which resulted in seven catches and three drops…suffered a torn right Achilles, which required surgery (February 2017) and affected him for over a calendar year; also missed time with a shoulder injury (September 2019).
SUMMARY: A part-time player at Iowa State, Nwangwu was the primary kick returner and backup running back in offensive coordinator Tom Manning’s scheme. He spent his Cyclones career in the shadows of David Montgomery and Breece Hall and battled an Achilles injury, but he made the most of his touches as a senior, averaging 5.6 yards per carry with four touchdowns. Nwangwu must improve his discipline as a running back, but he displays breakaway speed to start fast and finish faster with the ball in his hands. He holds the school record with a 26.85 kickoff return average (on 92 returns) and ranks No. 3 all-time in Big 12 history with 2,470 kick-return yards. Overall, Nwangwu must develop his patience, block recognition and receiving skills to warrant a spot on offense, but his home run speed and return skills could be his ticket to sticking on an NFL roster.
GRADE: 6th-7th Round, 16th ranked RB
My thoughts: Sounds like more of an athlete than a RB, but he appears to be a good returner and smart kid who isn't a shithead. At this point, if drafting return specialists in the 4th round is what makes our special teams less of a nightmare, then so be it.

Round 4, Pick 125: Camryn Bynum - CB, California

STRENGTHS: Long, tall, slender frame with adequate definition…outstanding instincts, trusting his vision to put himself in position to make plays…does a great job leveraging the route path and finding the passing window…solid ball skills for the position, leading the team in passes defended three of his four seasons (all except the COVID-19-shortened senior year)…locks up receivers in press-man, rerouting his man and disrupting the timing…plays with the toughness of a linebacker…willing tackler and puts his nose in the fire…two-year team captain and a football junkie who eats, drinks and breaths the game, constantly working to improve…started every game the last four seasons (42 straight starts).
WEAKNESSES: Not a quick-twitch athlete…lacks ideal speed for the position by NFL standards, struggling to quickly accelerate and make up ground after a lost step…vertical receivers will burn him off the line if his press technique isn’t perfect…turns his hips early in bail or off-coverage to protect vs. deep speed, surrendering too many underneath targets…labors at times with his transition footwork…needs to be more measured attacking run blocks to keep contain…played through a right labrum injury (November 2020).
SUMMARY: A four-year starter at California, Bynum was an outside corner in defensive coordinator Peter Sirmon’s scheme, playing well in both man and zone coverages. He earned a starting job as a freshman and started all 42 games the last four seasons, totaling 35 passes defended, which ranks top-five in school history. Bynum checks boxes for his balanced movements, coverage awareness and run support skills (all skills that translate well to safety). He knows he isn’t the most athletically gifted player, but he doesn’t allow anyone to outwork him and his coaches praise his drive, leadership and smarts. Overall, Bynum doesn’t have ideal twitch or speed for outside work in the NFL, but his play recognition and football character are why he will stick in the NFL. He projects best in a zone-based scheme with a possible future at safety (similar to Jordan Poyer).
GRADE: 6th Round, 29th ranked CB
My thoughts: A smart, experienced safety (Spielman said it) who makes up for his lack of athleticism with savvy and hard-nosed play? Let me introduce you to Mike Zimmer, kid. Enjoy your career.

Round 4, Pick 134: Janarius Robinson - DE, Florida State

STRENGTHS: Passes the eye test with his long-limbed, big-boned frame…boasts the length to stab and stay detached on the edges…has the straight-line acceleration to get going downhill quickly…slams his massive hands into blockers to convert his speed-to-power and put blockers on their heels…flashes the chase speed to cover ground and track down plays away from the line of scrimmage…showed the ability to turn and run hip-to-hip with backs out of the backfield…forceful, physical tackler, striking through the ball carrier…improved tape each season in Tallahassee and hasn’t yet reached his ceiling.
WEAKNESSES: Doesn’t consistently utilize his length, relying on his lower body to get around blocks…average arc burst and bend and doesn’t consistently win the corner as a pass rusher…crazed feet and needs to play more under control and be more strategic in his rush attack…his countering skills are based more on effort than instincts…he needs to strike with more upward violence to work through contact…too easily pinned and overwhelmed by blockers on the edge, losing contain and allowing the action outside…backfield vision is underdeveloped, too often playing from behind…mediocre backfield statistics over his career with a lot of clean-up production.
SUMMARY: A three-year starter at Florida State, Robinson played the “Fox” defensive end position in defensive coordinator Adam Fuller’s four-man front, lining up primarily in the boundary in a two-point stance. Playing for three different defensive coordinators in college, he didn’t quite live up to expectations in Tallahassee with only 8.0 career sacks, but the tools and flashes are intriguing. Robinson was blessed with long arms, huge hands and smooth acceleration, doing his best work as a downhill rusher. However, he didn’t put enough impact plays on tape, struggling to maximize those gifts or play with balance through contact. Overall, Robinson has a projectable body with high-upside traits, but he must develop his play instincts and creativity as a pass rusher if he is going to earn and keep an NFL roster spot.
GRADE: 5th-6th Round, 26th ranked edge rusher
My thoughts: Long, athletic DE with underwhelming stats from a big southern school who needs to refine his technique to reach his potential? Andre Patterson is erect.

Round 5, Pick 157: Ihmir Smith-Marsette - WR, Iowa

STRENGTHS: Speedy player who can stack routes vertically or out-race pursuit…quick to eat up cushion or leverage coverage, putting defenders on their heels…accelerates well out of his breaks…tracks the deep ball well and shows the ability to turn his frame and time his attack…chain-mover with 72.5% of his catches the last two seasons resulting in a first down or touchdown…uses subtle gear-change to force misjudged angles in space…excellent vision as a returner to find the crease…averaged 26.7 yards per kick return in college (57/1,520/2)…first player in Iowa history to record multiple kick return touchdowns in the same season.
WEAKNESSES: Sleek, narrow build with below average muscle definition…his lack of play strength is evident vs. physical defensive backs…balls will get on top of him, and he was charged with 17 drops over his career compared to 110 catches…inconsistent results when asked to play through contact…lacks fluidity through his hips…overly reliant on speed mid-route and needs to be more technique-focused to take the next step as a route runner…NFL scouts say he is still growing up and needs to learn what it takes to be a professional…he was arrested for driving while intoxicated (November 2020) and served a one-game suspension…injured his left ankle when flipping into the end zone (December 2020) in his final game.
SUMMARY: A four-year starter at Iowa, Smith-Marsette was the Z receiver in offensive coordinator Brian Ferentz’s pro-style scheme, lining up inside and outside. He led the Hawkeyes in receiving the last two seasons and scored 20 touchdowns in his career three different ways (14 receiving, four rushing, two kick return). Though he is mostly a linear route runner, Smith-Marsette has outstanding straight-line wheels that the defense must account for every time he takes a snap. His ball skills have room for improvement, especially when he is asked to work into traffic or out-muscle defenders. Overall, Smith-Marsette needs to develop better consistency as a finisher and separator, but he has dynamic speed with or without the ball. He projects as a back-end-of-the-roster receiver with home run ability and kick return value.
GRADE: 7th Round, 37th ranked WR
My thoughts: He's fast and it's probably tough to show off solid work as an Iowa WR. I don't personally like this pick, because at a glance this looks more like a special teams addition than any sort of reinforcements for our WR room. I don't expect Ihmir to contribute on offense. That said, our special teams play has been a liability lately and I hope some of these investments help us get it back to being a strength.

Round 5, Pick 168: Zach Davidson - TE, Central Missouri

STRENGTHS: Able to blow past Division II defenders on tape…loose-strider and accelerates to his top speed quickly…shows agile footwork and body flexibility to cross up defenders mid-route…tracks the ball well to pull down throws away from his frame…instinctive with the ball in his hands, showing wide-screen vision and decision making to create after the catch…offers position flexibility at punter, showing excellent timing and leg strength…driven and competes with everything he has…scored a touchdown every 2.8 catches in college.
WEAKNESSES: Raw as sushi…started learning how to play the tight end position as a sophomore in college…lanky frame and slight build, lacking desired bulk or definition…will require a patient coaching staff to develop his body and play strength…plays too nice and still adopting the physical attitude needed…needs to add more tempo to his patterns to gain leverage or set up defenders…plays urgent, but tends to rush his routes…freelances his hands/steps against press and at the top of routes…still learning the art of working the middle of the field…has only faced Division II competition.
SUMMARY: A one-year starter at Central Missouri, Davidson was a tight end in head coach Jim Svoboda’s offense, lining up inline and detached. Once he enrolled with the Mules, he started learning the tight end position as a sophomore in 2018 (primarily a punter in high school) and had an All-American junior season (also earned All-Conference as a punter). Davidson is a very unique prospect due to his unorthodox journey to this point and he has yet to play his best football. However, he is currently at the basement level in terms of his understanding of route-running and coverage and needs extensive strength work. Overall, Davidson has splashy tape with his raw athleticism and receiving skills, but he needs a patient coaching staff willing to invest in his development. He projects as a draft-and-stash tight end and backup punter.
GRADE: 7th Round, 14th ranked TE
My thoughts: Holy shit is this guy big! Holy shit is this guy athletic! Holy shit is his production insane (at Central Missouri, but still)! This guy sounds like Moritz Boeringer, but a TE. If we can teach him to play NFL-caliber football, he could bring the ruckus. Even if he just becomes a sub-package red zone option for us (Fauria, anyone?), that'd be a huge win. Oh and he punts too? Hilarious. This dude already rules.

6th round, Pick 199: Jaylen Twyman - DT, Pittsburgh

STRENGTHS: Excellent get-off, flying out of his stance to win at the snap…balanced athlete to cross the face of blockers…efficient pass rush plan, stringing together multiple moves (his favorite includes a swim rip, cross chop and double-hand swipe)…violent with his hands…his effort doesn’t subside through the whistle, chasing plays to the sideline…rarely loses sight of the football…praised by his coaches for his determined mindset both on and off the field (described as a “gym rat” by head coach Pat Narduzzi)…highly productive 2019 season, finishing as the only FBS interior defensive lineman with double-digit sacks.
WEAKNESSES: Highly disappointing testing numbers on key athletic drills…lacks desired length and can be neutralized by blockers…owns a packed-on, bulky body type, but his frame appears near maxed out…light in the pants and can be moved/turned in the run game…gets uprooted and washed by double teams…inconsistent results if asked to two-gap…backfield production was boosted by stunts designed to open free rush lanes…NFL scouts have mentioned maturity concerns with his off-field decisions…only one season as a full-time starter in college.
SUMMARY: A one-year starter at Pittsburgh, Twyman lined up primarily at three-technique (over the B gap) in Narduzzi’s 4-3 base scheme, but also saw snaps everywhere from nose tackle to the 4i position. With his productive sophomore season, he became the first interior defensive lineman to lead Pitt in sacks since Aaron Donald in 2013. And with his size, quickness and #97 jersey number, Twyman shows flashes of Donald, utilizing natural leverage and play violence as the core of his play style. His size and anchor limitations will show in the run game and his below average pro day performance was a red flag for scouts. Overall, Twyman can be overwhelmed at the point of attack, but his competitive nature and arsenal of pass rush moves will keep him on an NFL field if he performs up to his potential. He projects best as an under tackle in a four-man front who can be aggressively schemed up and down the line.
GRADE: 6th Round, 15th ranked defensive tackle
My thoughts: Dude is Diet Aaron Donald. Ok, even that is too lofty. But I'm not the only one saying it. He's a liability against the run, but he's the uNdErSiZeD 3T that every team seems to be searching for these days. Dude is carved out of granite and is one of my draft crushes. A few months ago, he was talked about as a 3rd round pick. Love this selection. James Lynch and Hercules Mata'afa better be on notice.

Final Thoughts

This was a weird draft and will honestly probably go down as a pretty terrible draft year overall. Opt outs, pro days being messed up, lack of medical info, fewer guys declaring, etc. That said, despite a few oddball picks (IMO), I think we crushed it. I'm not reading too much into value given how disparate the evaluations were this year, but we didn't make any outright bad picks and had some great value selections (Darrisaw, Davis, and Twyman in particular). We got huge reinforcements at OL and special teams, a potential QB of the future who could actually win us games as a backup, and primo developmental DL talent to help us rebuild the Zimmer defensive dynasty. Lots to like.

NFL power rankings are one thing. NFL training camp power rankings are another. And we're not talking about a typical pecking order, with the most likely Super Bowl contenders atop the list and every bottom-dweller rounding it out. We're talking about rankings based strictly on how teams are performing in camp -- on the field, off it, and everything in between.
Naturally, this kind of ranking still puts most of the real-life contenders near the top of the list. The Baltimore Ravens, our No. 1 team, for example, are both one of the betting favorites to win it all and clearly one of the best teams of this summer, thanks to solid practices from their starting lineup and a notable move to shake up their locker room.
But not everything is predictable in this special rundown. Some clubs, like the Las Vegas Raiders, are quite a bit higher than you might expect, solely because the talk of the town is, well, things have gone well for them in camp. (Didn't you hear? Derek Carr has finally "taken over the team" entering his seventh year in the league.)
So let's have some fun. Here's a look at how all 32 teams stack up based on what's gone down in camp:

1. Baltimore Ravens

Lamar Jackson only just recently threw his first interception of camp. Marquise Brown bulked up. Team leaders quickly but wisely escorted Earl Thomas -- sluggish on the field, distracting off it -- out of the locker room. This team is locked and loaded.

2. New Orleans Saints

So much for Drew Brees' offseason controversy derailing their unity. The offensive firepower has stayed healthy, the retooled defense has been energetic, and there's not enough talk about how well stocked they are for a title run.

3. Seattle Seahawks

Russell Wilson is feeling good. Pete Carroll is throwing shade. Jamal Adams is now part of their defense. Chris Carson is ready to go. Poke fun at their old-school game plans, but few teams are as confident as this one right now -- and can back it up.

4. Dallas Cowboys

No news is good news for America's Team, and outside of maybe Gerald McCoy's unfortunate injury, the 'Boys have stayed out of the headlines, with Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb and a loaded offense ready to explode come September. (Cue the Earl Thomas drama!)

5. Pittsburgh Steelers

What more must we say other than Tom Brady is here? Bruce Arians' plan to recreate a makeshift 2014 Pro Bowl roster has its flaws, but still, it's hard to watch No. 12 throwing to Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Rob Gronkowski and O.J. Howard and come away unexcited.

7. Kansas City Chiefs

Make no mistake: They're still No. 1 or 2 in actual power rankings. But losing Laurent Duvernay-Tardif and Damien Williams weren't necessarily small changes. By Week 1, Patrick Mahomes and Co. will prove that camp headlines don't mean anything.

8. Green Bay Packers

Aaron Rodgers has been saying all the right things since Jordan Love's surprise arrival, and now it's incredibly clear, in practice, why Rodgers is still the guy. Does anyone understand how fired up this guy is going to be to prove he's still MVP material?

9. Indianapolis Colts

Philip Rivers is having fun again. Jonathan Taylor is a beast. And while Parris Campbell suffered an injury scare, everything else seems to be clicking as expected. We just might be underrating Frank Reich's squad here.

10. Los Angeles Chargers

Tyrod Taylor certainly didn't seem that exciting entering camp, but he's lit up his supporting cast with the deep ball as of late. Austin Ekeler is his typically shifty self. And the defense has a swagger to match the talent. An underrated contender?

11. Arizona Cardinals

At this point, the Cards hype might be a tad overblown. But then players started raving about how Kliff Kingsbury is running the offense at a "crazy fast" pace. The Kenyan Drake walking boot is a little concerning, but this is still an electric bunch.

12. Las Vegas Raiders

Somehow, some way, Derek Carr is out to prove the haters wrong again. But this time he's actually got a supporting cast. Tyrell Williams' injury isn't minor, but the way they filled out the RB and WR groups has already paid dividends on the practice field.

13. New England Patriots

You might think the Jarrett Stidham injury would send them falling down the rankings, but we all knew Cam Newton was winning this job anyway. The defense, meanwhile, is dominating practice, which should be music to their ears considering their 2020 approach.

14. Houston Texans

Don't look now, but a healthy David Johnson and Brandin Cooks actually make the Texans offense kind of spicy.

15. San Francisco 49ers

There's no denying their firepower, but these WR injuries are starting to hurt. Presently, these are the only fully healthy wideouts on the roster: Kendrick Bourne, Trent Taylor, Dante Pettis, Tavon Austin, J.J. Nelson, Kevin White. It's like a cast of forgotten faces!

16. Los Angeles Rams

You've got to hand it to him: Sean McVay makes one heck of a Jon Gruden on "Hard Knocks." Oh yeah, and Aaron Donald is still freakishly good. Having a healthy WR corps, including Cooper Kupp, has rendered them still relevant in the West.

17. Denver Broncos

The Drew Lock hype has been just loud enough. Considering how much change Denver is working with on the coaching staff, it's safe to say John Elway's squad is moving in the right direction. The K.J. Hamler hamstring injury hampers them a bit, though.

18. Tennessee Titans

Until they make the right move and cover up the Vic Beasley move by adding Jadeveon Clowney, they don't deserve anything higher.

19. Detroit Lions

D'Andre Swift's leg injury is something to monitor, and Matt Patricia does not deserve the benefit of the doubt, but he scored some serious locker-room brownie points by helping the Lions take the first big stand, at least in the NFL, after the Jacob Blake shooting.

20. Philadelphia Eagles

Newcomers like Jalen Reagor have, by all accounts, blended well with Carson Wentz and a redesigned offense. Miles Sanders has been sidelined for a while with a "precautionary" designation, though, and losing left tackle Andre Dillard was obviously notable.

21. Minnesota Vikings

They finally, officially lost Everson Griffen, who doesn't get enough credit for what he did opposite Danielle Hunter. And now, suddenly, there's talk of first-round WR Justin Jefferson taking a slow path to No. 2 WR duties. Call it a so-so stretch in the Midwest.

22. Carolina Panthers

Matt Rhule has this group clicking behind the scenes. Don't you dare count them out for a run at .500!

23. Miami Dolphins

Tua Tagovailoa is on their practice field, folks. That is enough to be juiced up about this franchise. But everything else seems to be moving at a slower pace, from the rehabbing WRs to the transitioning CBs -- like big-money Byron Jones, who's catching up on "D."

24. Atlanta Falcons

It feels like half the talk coming out of Falcons camp has centered on new tight end Hayden Hurst. It's hard to tell whether that's a good thing or a bad thing.

25. Cleveland Browns

It wasn't just an injury bug that infested Cleveland. It was the whole hive. Nick Chubb is apparently fine after a concussion scare, and the offense is still due for a rebound, but it's hard to ignore big losses like Grant Delpit and Greedy Williams on the other side.

26. Buffalo Bills

It's fun seeing Josh Allen throw passes to Stefon Diggs, but lots to be concerned about here: Josh Norman's already buckling as a starting CB experiment, Devin Singletary's got a fumbling problem and ... the team's website writer possibly went rogue?

27. Chicago Bears

This might be resolved come Week 1, but why in the world has their QB competition been so quiet? For Pete's sake, if Mitchell Trubisky won't step up now, when will he? Meanwhile, Matt Nagy is basically begging for more kicker drama to unfold.

28. New York Giants

Not going to lie: Joe Judge taping tennis balls to defensive backs' hands was pretty clever. But if he keeps up the tough-guy stuff, this team's going to literally be running through brick walls by September. They can't afford that after so many injuries and opt-outs.

29. Cincinnati Bengals

Joe Burrow is soaking up the praise, which is great, but can we go one week without another A.J. Green injury? Couple that with arrests and/or physical ailments for big additions Trae Waynes and Mackensie Alexander, and the arrow is pointing down.

30. Jacksonville Jaguars

Maybe Gardner Minshew won some more fans by ... joking that he's invincible in the face of a global pandemic? But this team is largely uninspiring, starting with the fact one of their best players, Yannick Ngakoue, still refuses to play for them.

31. New York Jets

Good on Joe Douglas getting a bunch of nice draft picks for Jamal Adams, but what else garners applause here? Sam Darnold joking about staying out of bars? Adam Gase putting himself on a track to start a 54-year-old Frank Gore over Le'Veon Bell? Yikes.

32. Washington Football Team

Alex Smith making a miraculous comeback is a great story, but holy smokes, talk about an apocalyptic summer. From bombshell harassment allegations to high-profile cuts to internal strife to a literal team re-branding, these guys are like walking TMZ headlines.

I dash in the Prescott area of Arizona, which is a fairly rural area. I usually dont have much issues earning, I can usually pull in at least 100 a day working lunch and dinner. However I see so many posts here of super high tips and really high peak pay, I am wondering if it might be worth it to take a day trip down to Phoenix (1.5 hour drive, roughly half a tank to get there) and work? I dont want to try it unless I know it might be good as right now I dont really have the means to risk having a bad earning day.
Edit: I am judging how much gas it takes to get there using my old 99 Ford escort as a measure because I haven't been there in my new car, which is a 2012 hyundai elantra LS. I have never driven there in my newer car so I'm not totally sure on exact mileage.
