2024.05.14 15:00 Honestly_ Not just EA Sports: *All* NCAA college football game covers & athletes, including Sony's NCAA GameBreaker, Sega Sports, and a few others
With the
EA Sports College Football 25 cover being released this Thursday, I thought it would be interesting to look back at all covers — and not just the EA covers, but the athletes featured on covers of rival games by Sony, Sega, and other competitors.
Competition is a good thing. Putting these in chronological order takes me back to the era where there were options (I bought my first game in the '90s, and played a lot of 2k2).
If you count the 2 players that are identifiable off of "College Football USA 96" there have been 36 cover athletes across 34 editions of college football games (plus an active coach, mascot, two band members, and an unidentified player)
This post is going to look cleaner in "old" view. You can swap the "www" with "old" in the URL or just
click here. Year | Publisher | Game Title (image) | Cover Athlete (wiki) | Heisman? | Formats | Notes |

Various developers:
EA Sports's developers:
- High Score Productions (1993: Genesis, Sega CD; 1994-96)
- Visual Concepts (1993: SNES)
- Tiburon Entertainment (1997-98), bought/renamed EA Tiburon (1999-2013), renamed EA Orlando (2024)
- Exient Entertainment (2003: N-Gage)
Sega Sports's developers:
- BlueSky Software (1994-95) [developers of Joe Montana series]
- Visual Concepts & Avalanche Software (2001-02) [NFL 2K & NFL Blitz, respectively]
Sony Computer Entertainment America's developers:
- Sony Interactive Studios America (1996-97), renamed Red Zone Interactive (1998-99), renamed 989 Studios (2000)
Aspyr Media's developer:
- Nerjyzed Entertainment (2007: Windows; 2009: 360)
Further notes:
Bill Walsh was picked because there was an early-theme of having big names on sports video games.
- EA actually started this back when they were the cool, bad boy of games in the 1980s (I'm that old, they packaged their games like records and put photos of their programmers that made them look like musicians on the back) with the pioneering PC game One on One: Dr. J vs. Larry Bird (1983), later updated to Jordan vs. Bird: One on One (1988).
- Nintendo got into it by localizing Punch-Out! as Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! (1987) for NES. EA brought out John Madden Football (1988) for PC.
- Sega was wild about this when they launched the Genesis with Arnold Palmer Tournament Golf (1989), Tommy Lasorda Baseball (1989), Pat Riley Basketball (1990), Joe Montana Football (1991).
- 1993: Bill Walsh! There even was an EA Coach K college hoops game.
Bill Walsh may have got the cover curse:
- While he had retired from the San Francisco 49ers on top, after winning his 3rd Super Bowl, he had only returned to the Farm for a year when he was picked (he had a good first tenure in the 70s before jumping to the 49ers).
- In 1992 he took the Cardinal to a Blockbuster Bowl win and a #9 rank. Signed this deal for EA.
- After the first game came out he had two bad seasons and re-retired for good.
The progression of teams is fun to see.
- 1993: the top 24 college football teams from 1992 + 24 of the all-time greatest teams since 1978. The teams were unlicensed so they used city and state names, especially where similar to their real names (e.g. Michigan). But you got some fun results like a spirited game of "South Bend, IN" vs "Raleigh, NC"
- 1994: 36 Division I-A teams, but the bowls were still not included: Instead we get Maple Bowl, Palm Bowl, Pecan Bowl, and Redwood Bowl
- 1995: first version to feature all (108 at the time) Division l-A teams, the real bowl games like Orange, Sugar, Fiesta, and Rose. Includes older names but also the Pacific Tigers, which actually dropped football before the game was released.
The rights to the title "NCAA" license wasn't obtained by EA until 1998 (as you can see there was an earlier one-off by Mindscape). Its ability to use the NCAA's brands in the the football game was actually the secondary result of a licensing deal intended primarily for an EA "March Madness" basketball game.

2024.05.14 11:00 Unlucky-Raise-7214 Hugewin Casino – Where Revolutionizing Online Crypto Gambling Goes One Step Further
Nothing compares to a crypto gambling platform offering users plenty of gaming opportunities, numerous bonuses, promotions, and special events. In the crypto gambling world, this and the surprising prices are the biggest wishes of crypto enthusiasts.
And you may find hundreds of crypto casinos available, each one coming with more benefits and offers. However, besides numerous benefits, a crypto casino should also be transparent and secure and offer a high level of anonymity.
Sometimes, it can be a little hard to make the best of both worlds – offering many games and offers while also working on transparency, security, and anonymity. However, some Bitcoin casinos find the best way to combine all these benefits and offer bright platforms.
Among them is Hugewin casino, a platform that, although recently launched, has already become surprisingly popular and has a promising future thanks to its features, engaged community, and constant wish to keep the user experience as high as possible.
Welcome to the World of Limitless Games and Sports
Hugewin casino was launched in January 2024, and in the short time since its launch, it has managed to become noticed by worldwide crypto gamblers. With an extremely user-friendly platform and numerous benefits for its users, Hugewin casino is on the path to becoming one of the most popular crypto casinos in the world, if not even the most popular.
Currently, Hugewin Casino surprises its users with over 7,000 slots games. The platform provides classic versions of the game, as well as intriguing variations.
Furthermore, users can choose from over 700 casino games from 12 game providers, including popular developers such as PragmaticLive, Evolution, LiveGames, and many others. Crypto gamblers can try out various casino games, such as poker, roulette, blackjack, baccarat, table games, and live casino tables.
When it comes to crypto casinos, users are usually looking for sports betting, too. Thus, Hugewin Casino has also developed this feature, offering users 35 virtual sports games to bet on. Some of the most popular sports include football, basketball, cricket, baseball, tennis, dog racing, horse racing, table tennis, motor racing, golf, and ice hockey.
Besides, Hugewin Casino comes with one more activity worth considering: regular games. Considering that some players might not want to play the usual casino games, Hugewin is offering close to 70 regular games, the most popular being Zeppelin, Aviator, and Spaceman.
Also focused on transparency and safe gambling, Hugewin ensures it gets gambling licenses to become as trustworthy as possible. Thus, the crypto casino secured its Curaçao eGaming license (CEG) shortly after launching.
Moreover, it is essential to mention that Hugewin Casino does not require unnecessary information from its users. Thus, when signing up, you will only be required to provide the information strictly needed to create your account.
Discover Unlimited Perks and Promos that Improve Your Gambling Experience
Hugewin already knows that providing a wide range of games may not be enough for users. Thus, the crypto casino has also developed various special events, bonuses, promotions, discounts, and other benefits.
Users can enjoy two main recurring tournaments: the Weekly Multiplier Tournament and the Monthly Turnover Tournament. The weekly tournament is available to those playing 5 specific games: Sweet Bonanza Xmas, Sugar Crush, Big Bass Bonanza, The Dog House, and Piggy Bankers. The prize pool for the weekly tournament is $10,000.
The Monthly Turnover Tournament has a surprising prize pool of $100,000 and is available to gamblers playing 10 games, including Sweet Bonanza, Gates of Olympus, Starlight Princess, and Master Joker.
Each tournament rewards users based on a leaderboard. The prize pools are distributed to the first 100 crypto gamblers with the highest turnover and multiplier, respectively.
The bonuses offered by Hugewin Casino are just like the casino’s name says – huge wins. Each day, users can benefit from a 15% casino discount for all live casino tables and slots games and a 5% discount for sports betting. In both cases, there are no wagering requirements.
Each Wednesday, users can get a 25% slot discount for all slots games. The minimum wagering requirement is 20x the bonus amount.
Furthermore, deposits get rewarded with a 5% bonus, and users can get a 100% welcome bonus for their first deposits. Besides, those referring friends can get a reward of up to $100.

2024.05.14 09:59 TanukiB00ty Weapons need durability so they can't just be needlessly spammed.
I've just about had it up to here with all of these annoying assholes that just grab onto weapons and hog them the entire round, make it a point to race to them and nab them before anyone else can and if ANYONE dares they make sure to deal with you so they can get their paws on it and then proceed to demolish the competition as we all try to flimsily dropkick at them in hopes of connecting with their head and not getting the immediate shovel to our skull right after, and I'm aware you can perhaps get a taser or an ice ray and it'll give you a shot from afar to get rid of them but let's be honest when 99% of the time the person with the weapon just bull rushes the guy using a ranged gun and slams them like a baseball outta the park for trying to do that to them. And even worse when you end up in a 1v1 scenario on Icebreakers or Ichiban and have someone just dead soulless stare over you with a two hand weapon politely awaiting you to try and climb back up to get out with LITTLE hopes of surviving as you're relying on spectators to potentially bop them with a fish OR just end up bopping you off to end the game like some Roman gladiator arena deciding who wins and loses.
I just think personally we NEED to add durability to weapons, like so many successful hits and they'll break in half from so much use so they can't be legitimately just spammed and spammed and spammed again and again by toxic jerks who will think they're winning the game by ANY MEANS of skill and just be mocking an entire lobby like they just won a tournament for cash...I'm never usually in favor of taking the RNG out of this game or making it more and more skill oriented, but if people are gonna keep forcing the game into such a competitive direction well then we NEED fair competitive balancing.

2024.05.14 07:46 eldeunoia Paddleboarding questions for Tacoma, WA - Spots, season, & time of day?
This is my first year paddleboarding (wish i started years ago) and I currently I live in Sacramento, CA where I have near constant access to the American River, and virtually endless spots to launch from. And with the CA weather, we've been launching since last month (April) - essentially we were out there as soon as it started hitting 65 to 70°, I've even gone out with a hoodie on if it was a little cooler.
My husband and I are moving to Tacoma next year (around June) and I've been looking for spots were we could paddleboard and when we can even start in the year. We were up there for a hockey tournament in April and Owen Beach was way too windy for it. And when we were living in Kent I spent a lot of time at Saltwater Park, but that was before we started paddleboarding.
Any suggestions about where we can launch and when would be super appreciated! I'm going to post this question in
Tacoma as well.
Please and thank you! 🙏

2024.05.14 04:06 RaygunWesley Kevin's keepsakes
My wife and I frequent the goodwills around town and she stumbled upon a vintage tin box with miscellaneous trinkets inside. Among the things inside are as pictured; Los Angeles Lakers ,Golden State warriors and Utah jazz pins CTO The City Stars Tournament basketball medal 1998 tualatin Little League baseball pin And the most interesting thing that ties it together is an Oregon license plate with the name Kevin on it. Am I off base thinking that this could have belonged to Kevin Love currently of the Miami Heat from Lake Oswego, Oregon which is only 20 minutes or so from the Goodwill we found this tin at?

2024.05.14 03:32 AustinK276 $2300 PC Rebuild
Format stolen from
buildapcforme What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using. - Gaming (low intensity games like Fortnite, Roblox, and some higher intensity games like GTA 5, Satisfactory, etc), development (web and app)
What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes? When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy. What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ToweOS/monitokeyboard/mouse/etc\) - Only the PC, I already have peripherals.
Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location? - United States, Illinois. I have access to a Microcenter.
If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated. - 3 Monitors (acer 1080p 144hz), Keyboard (Razer Huntsman Tournament Edition), Mouse (Glorious Model O Wireless))
Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU? - Not currently, but potentially down the line
Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc) - At least 2tb of storage (preferably SSDs), at least 32GB of RAM
Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-towefull-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components? Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference? Extra info or particulars: - I will be taking this build to college, so I would prefer it to be a little bit compact and not obnoxious with the RGB.

Usually I try posting the updates on the 1st of every month but I was moving so things quickly became crazy for me in April/May. Hopefully June is more peaceful.
Like last time the majority of the 777 Sales are located in the Western Market. But Taiwan and South Korea saw big movements with Korea shooting up to #6 and Taiwan surpassing Canada for the #2 spot! Don't know if either will overtake California for the #1 spot but seeing so much support from Korean and Taiwanese InSomnias make me happy!
Honestly though, I think if another tour does happen this year they're gonna go back to North America. I think DCC is trying to have their cake and eat it too by booking or going to shows and concerts in places in Asia (like HK and Taiwan) and SA (Chile) while focusing their tours on the Western Market (like Europe and NA). The Waterbomb Festival is going to Dubai this year too so I wouldn't be surprised to see them get booked there too just to hit up another international market.
The 777 project is still ongoing (it will end in October). The link is below if you wish to purchase the merchandise.

While Jill has gotten press for her arrest at Washington University in St Louis, Greens across the country have been deep in the movement since before Jill hit the headlines, not only in this current flare up, but for a long time. This post from the Illinois Green Party talks about involvement of greens across the state, including a young Congressional candidate who was with Jill at Wash U before her arrest and the ILGP Treasurer who was arrested at a Chicago vigil almost 2 months before Jills late April arrest.
