Hi guys, could someone please give me some feedback on my school list, especially if a school is not OS-friendly or if it is too much of a reach with my stats? I was born and raised in WA state, but I'm technically a CA resident now. Thank you in advance for your suggestions!!
My stats: 3.92 GPA, 512 MCAT; no gap years
Activities: 2000 hours research (2 presentations at conference, 1 poster, 1 manuscript in preparation), 300ish clinical (hospital volunteer and intern at a dermatology clinic), 100 hours non-clinical volunteer (tutoring kids), 2000 non-clinical job in real estate (just paid for my tuition and living expenses) + other small activities and awards

The origins of this list came about when the Denver Nuggets won the NBA chip last year. I asked my bball group chat if winning the NBA chip made Jamal the best NBA player named Jamal/Jamaal. I then made this list:

With the NBA playoffs coming, I thought I tried to do something similar but on a much larger scale and share it with the NBA subreddit community.
I'm not sure if such a list has been done before. If it has, please send me the link to it so I can read it.
Also this is how I came up with the list. The list is not in any specific order per letter. Its more like the first name for each letter is the first name I thought of. Whenever I have trouble finishing up the list, I go to Google and basketball reference. I indicate when I do so.
The list is done by first name and not last. So for example, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar will fall under K and not A. The other thing is players will be listed by their actual given name and not nicknames. For example, magic Johnson will be under I for Earvin "magic" Johnson.

I heard about this cipher but can't figure out what it's called. It is made by choosing a keyword and removing the letters in it from the alphabet, then you put the keyword at the beginning of your modified alphabet. After that you number each letter from left to right and write a message using the numbers.

Clover

Five humans, missing...

Spoilers for all of Undertale Yellow's main routes below
Undertale Yellow is a fan-made prequel to the hit indie game Undertale. While Undertale follows the story of Frisk, the seventh human child to fall into the monster ruled Underground, Undertale Yellow follows the story of their immediate predecessor. Meet Clover, the sixth human. Unlike the humans that fell before, this gun-toting cowboy is unique in the sense that their journey to the Underground was no accident. Clover entered the Underground voluntarily in order to investigate the disappearances of the previous five humans and, if it turned out they perished at some point after their fall, hoped to avenge their deaths. See, while Frisk possessed a red SOUL that embodied Determination, Clover's SOUL is yellow for the trait of Justice. Clover's journey would lead them all throughout the Underground, meeting some monsters that will be familiar to those who have played Undertale and some brand new faces as well.
Like Undertale before it, Undertale Yellow's story can be altered significantly depending on the player's actions. Perhaps Clover befriends the monsters they meet and determines they were unfairly trapped underground, deciding to sacrifice themselves to bring monster kind closer to freedom. Or maybe Clover will blame the monsters for the deaths of the previous human children, avenging them with swift cruelty. Either way, Clover will act in the way they believe they can best embody Justice.

So How Do the Fights Work Anyway?

Like its predecessor, Undertale Yellow tends to treat RPG mechanics as literal aspects of the game's world. Due to the abstract nature of fights in both Undertale and Undertale Yellow, with enemy monsters targeting Clover's SOUL rather than their physical body, it's understandable that there may be some confusion about how Clover actually scales to certain monsters. Luckily, this is a bit more clear in Undertale Yellow than it was in the original game, as the reveal trailer shows that the attacks of monster are things that Clover physically has to react to and dodge (we even see this same attack utilized in game) even though the battle menu only shows their SOUL.
But this is just for when encounters have already begun, what about before that? And what triggers encounters anyway? There's an area in the Wild East where boulders are falling onto the path that Clover needs to dodge. If they fail to avoid them, this begins an encounter too, where Clover is given the opportunity to avoid the "attacks" in the battle menu to negate damage. Other examples include Clover escaping damage from hot steam after touching it and avoiding damage from Axis' energy balls after they hit them. What this means for standard versus fights is a little vague, but it likely means that any attack that would deal meaningful damage starts an encounter and that it would be impossible to simply kill Clover with a sneak attack. Even if it hit them, Clover would still get the opportunity to dodge before the proper fight begins. That said, there is one example of Clover dying without triggering an encounter at the end of the Neutral Route. It's possible this is because it was an unescapable situation but the mechanics of it are still vague and unclear.
As seen with the previous examples such as the falling boulders and steam, it seems that attacks that hit Clover's SOUL and their physical body are more or less interchangeable. Or rather, it isn't possible to circumvent the SOUL to only hit the physical body because even attacks that hit Clover's physical body will trigger an encounter that can then be dodged or endured by the SOUL.
Finally, it's worth noting that the sizes of objects can vary from their appearances in the battle to what they look like in the overworld. We see Clover's SOUL alongside their physical body a few times throughout the game and it's pretty consistently a little larger than their torso. So this thread will describe feats with that scale in mind.

Other Things To Note

• At the end of certain routes, Clover acquires certain abilities/powerups that don't necessarily apply to the rest of the game. Feats or items that are limited to those routes will be marked with the corresponding route.

• Like your standard RPG's, Undertale Yellow possesses a leveling system that will increase the more enemies that Clover kills, with certain abilities being unlocked after certain levels are achieved. However, in the Genocide route Clover showed off the ability to level up rapidly simply by being filled with enough righteous fury. Abilities that are locked behind certain levels will also be marked accordingly.
  
  • Feat^{LV 19}
• The majority of feats will come from Undertale Yellow, but occasionally clips from trailers and other promotional material on the director of the game's Youtube channel will be used, which will be labeled with a T like so:

Strength

• Breaks a piece of wood that had jammed an elevator door with a pickaxe, which broke the pickaxe despite it being described as sturdy previously
• Pushes aside a cabinet
• While physically holding the lid of a trash can Clover is able to deflect Axis' energy attacks back at him which destroyed portable generators about as tall as Axis himself
  • Clover also uses this lid to deflect Axis' bombs
• [Anti-Feat] Needs Martlet's help moving a table

Speed/Agility

• Runs roughly 2/3rds faster than they walk, traveling the same distance in 1.5 seconds that it took them 2.5 seconds to walk
• Climbs a good distance up a rope, though Flowey resets the timeline before they reach the top
• While fighting Decibat they react and move relatively to various attacks that appear to be sound-based
  • Note that blue attacks don't harm you if you're standing still and orange attacks don't if you're moving
• Passes over a bridge when the boards were constantly elevating and lowering
• Moves out of the way of Dunebud's arrows
  • We see in the game's reveal trailer that these arrows move much faster than their in-game counterparts would suggest
• Avoids the soundwaves produced by Starlo's bell attack
• Escapes Axis during their chase

• Moves relatively to the arrows and flintlock pistol shots of a pair of mini robots

Durability
Blunt

• A tumbleweed knocks them onto a lower platform and they don't even flinch
• Even while using the Patch, Clover's starting accessory that offers no extra defense, Clover can withstand several giant boulders smashing into them
  • While using the Steel Buckle or superior defensive items, this damage is totally negligible
• Takes several blows from Ed that launch massive boulders into the air
• Withstands the Guardener's attacks which could smash giant gears that are larger than Clover
• [Genocide] Gets hit by large meteors summoned by Zenith Martlet

Falling

• Jumps down a hole into the Underground and lands on a bed of flowers
• Falls through the floor of the Ruins and lands in a bed of flowers in the Dark Ruins, quickly jumping to their feet afterwards
• Crashes a speeding boat over a ledge, sending them over and into the mines
  • Flowey did comment they seemed pretty hurt by this
• Falls down a trap door

Heat

• Survives in the Steamworks with no issue, which was hot enough to light Moe's clothes and stand on fire over the course of their conversation
• Withstands multiple fire attacks from Asgore before eventually succumbing to them (with Asgore being the strongest non-final boss monster in the original Undertale)

Other

• Gets shocked repeatedly by Dalv's electrical attacks, enduring four before eventually succumbing
• A giant fan produces a sandstorm that pushes them back a considerable distance
• Gets hit by dynamite thrown by Starlo
• Survives multiple shots from Starlo's revolver
• Withstands hits from Axis' energy balls which later destroy Axis' portal generators

Note that while Clover can store excess items in boxes they find around the Underground, they can only carry eight items in their inventory not including their current Weapon, Ammo, Armor, and Accessory. Later in the game they discovered the Dimensional Satchel which allows them to access the boxes from anywhere, but they still only have eight slots to bring into an encounter.

  • While the Toy Gun only fires once per turn, the Wild Revolver is fired six times in a row
  • While the Wild Revolver looks and functions like a typical revolver, note that Blackjack does say that he made it so as not to be lethal (though the following line about how anything could be lethal if used enough times consecutively makes this seem more like a meta joke about RPG fight mechanics, even going so far as to mention the ballet shoes that are a weapon in the original Undertale)

Feats
Note that cutscenes will always play out the same regardless of whether the Toy Gun or Wild Revolver is being used, so while the Revolver is obviously the more powerful of the two the Toy Gun is much more powerful than it's name would suggest and the following feats apply to both weapons.

• Critically damages Axis who could withstand his own energy balls being reflected back at him with no physical damage, merely draining his power instead

I'm currently in Germany. I'm originally from Poland. master engineer IT with digital electronics. over 18 years of experience in soft-dev. I don't want to work for IT companies at all. I explored all types and sizes of companies, in two countries. Everywhere IT companies have the same problems. Polish software turns out is made a lot better. Germany is 15 - 20 years behind Poland in the digitalization, and they won't catch up. I want to do my own stuff. To do so I need a normal day job, something in trades would be great. I know it might by hard to find a 40h/week job without overtime in Germany. Something with 30 or 35 h/week would be awesome. I tried to work as telecommunication technician, but that area is a disaster (that is why I know Germany won't catch up with the digitalization). Most of the service jobs (i.e. public transport, railway) is a disaster. I wanted to work in a shop, I have work experience in a supermarket and a sport shop, but to work on a cash register in Germany you have to have a finished vocational training which takes 3 years (for me 2) with scraps for pay. In Poland, in a supermarket, I had after 4 months a palletjack certificate, top 5 speed on a cash register and I would know all the processes. So except of cutting cost, and exploitation I have no idea why they ignore my experience and need that training. If some of you have an idea which vocational training is worth doing, I would appreciate it. Currently I'm thinking about doing training for a Warehouse clerk with forklift license and PLC programmer. For the later I have knowledge and skills. I'm the third generation engineer in my family. Electricity and electronics were my toys since I remember. Asm and C were my first programming languages (as teenager), and I have played over the years with PLC and similar devices. Getting education in that area looks like a long road. The German industry today seams dying exactly like it happened in Poland in the 1990s. Germans have moved a lot of things to China, or Chinese companies bought German companies and pose as Germans with production moved to China (Germans falsely believe the German made things are better. That's a fact. I saw that myself, the Internet connections are an example. Prepaid plans in the Turkish shops have better and a cheaper offer than the German main providers, but only immigrants are using them, and Germans buy expensive plans in German providers. In Poland the same company offers 4 - 8 times more GBs for a bit smaller price per month). Germans are also closing factories in Poland today, and moving them to China. The German government is incompetent and has no idea about economy and industry (i.e. the only PVs factory in German went bankrupt, and they are now fully dependent on PVs from China). It doesn't look like getting into industry automation is a good idea. Warehouse looks more stable. The goods from China someone has to process and store somewhere. This is also a skill useful worldwide. This is important for me, as with each month, I'm getting more confident, that things will only get worse in Germany and more I read the German law it looks like as it is also a country not to live in. I'm not going back to Poland. What do you think about those two options? Do you have some other ideas or tips? Do you have an idea what I could do to get money to pay the bills, not work for 6 days for 10 to 12 hours, and have time to do my own software? I'm a union member so I have help at hand.

1) Be respectful and civil

As straightforward as it gets, the number one rule for a reason. Be kind to others, be good people.

• Even if you disagree with someone, think they're incorrect about a statement they make, or otherwise, there are still ways to have a positive and productive discussion without being harmful to others. Uphold basic discussion etiquette and refrain from insulting or harassing others while stating your own opinion.
• Our community strives to be a safe space for all players. Before you hit send on a negative message, comment, etc., remember - there is another human on the other side of the screen with their own personal life.

Please don't hesitate to contact Modmail if you are feeling unsafe for any reason.

2) No targeted harassment or personal attacks

In tandem with Rule 1, this rule more specifically refers to direct attacks on individuals. Under no circumstances should any individual feel like they are being unjustly targeted, attacked, or under the threats of malicious intent by any other individual(s).

3) Submissions must be relevant to AFK

5) No Misleading Information

Everyone is welcome and encouraged to express their (unharmful) opinions, but the outright spread of misinformation, especially when presented as factual information, can be very misleading and harmful to the community.

It simply exists to ensure users are being reasonable and transparent with their statements, understanding the difference between fact and opinion, and not supplying users or the community with false information.

Long time lurker, first time poster. I never thought my MIL was QUITE bad enough for me to post on here... Background: I (33F) have been with my husband (37M) for 13 years, married for one year and I am 8 months pregnant with our first baby. My MIL has a history of manipulative behavior and making things about her. She is a kind person and does love us, but when push comes to shove, she will make it about herself. For example - last year his bachelor party ended up over mother's day weekend- not ideal yes, but a Bach party is a once in a lifetime opportunity to be celebrated by the people who love you and are excited for you. But instead she has never let him live it down that he missed mother's day (and he took her out after he got home). He bruised his ribs last month and when she found out he didn't immediately tell her she said "I used to be the first person you would tell that to" and made him feel guilty about it. Of course he told his WIFE first! About 5 years ago her and his sister called him and told him that I was stealing him away from his family 🙄. ANYWAY: My husband has suffered from depression his whole life and Wednesday was admitted to an inpatient mental health facility for suicidal thoughts. The visitation is super limited, Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday from 6pm to 650 pm. He's doing really well and taking meds and starting to feel better but he misses me and our unborn baby and doesn't want to give up any of those 50 minutes to visit with anyone else right now. All of our friends and other family understand but of course his mother does not. She has been all over me today saying "I know he doesn't want us to visit but I NEED to see my child" and "he has to let me in" "tell him he has to let me in". I completely understand her wanting to see him, this is so hard on all of us. But it is the acknowledgement of what he wants and needs but still prioritizing what she needs. Her son is in crisis and needs us to be selfless more than anything right now.
My solution is just to send updates on group text to his mom and siblings so she feels pressure not to be a selfish brat hopefully. Am I just being a hormonal preggo and overreacting?

First time Reddit poster. Started watching in 1998 and wound down in 2011.
I read/hear a lot about how Shawn Michaels/HHH pulled a last minute swerve for Shawn to win the European Championship over The British Bulldog at the 1997 One Night Only PPV. The detractors say that although Shawn's excuse was that he was doing it for "heat" and to make the title mean something, he didn't really do much with it and treated it as an afterthought joke. The D-X vs Hart Foundation feud happened a little bit before I started tuning in, but over the last 10-15 years, especially with more "shoot" interviews available, books/articles published, etc. it's possible the narrative of what happened at One Night Only is a mischaracterization of Shawn Michaels.
What We Know: In 1997, The British Bulldog aka Davey Boy Smith -- a member of the heel stable, The Hart Foundation -- is the European Champion and is always expected to "go over" whenever the WWE travels to Europe. 9/20/97 is the One Night Only PPV, in Birmingham, England.
What has been said by a few sources: Up till the day of the show, Davey was under the assumption that he was not going to lose the title to Shawn Michaels, since England is obviously within Europe. What made this event extra special is that there had been a plan for him to be escorted to the ring by his sister who was sadly stricken with a terminal illness. There would've then been cheers all around for this valiant hero and the 11,000 fans would then be sent home happy with a feel-good story.
Here is where things get murky: The same sources state that Shawn and HHH decided to pull a fast one on Vince McMahon an hour or so before it was show time. The two demanded that Shawn beat Davey for the European Championship. Has Shawn or HHH ever independantly admitted that it was in that short of a turnaround and that the two went behind Davey's back? Even Jim Ross says that Davey was with Shawn and HHH when the idea to change the finish was pitched and blames Davey for not "protecting himself." That means Davey agreed and was not forced. As mentioned earlier, the excuse that has been used is that Shawn felt that it would be a great way to draw "heat" since there was very much a pro-Davey crowd watching and so the return match in the Spring of 1998 (when they headed back to not just the UK, but this time in Manchester which was The Bulldog's billed hometown) would have a massive redemption arc which would be that much greater for the fans. In the meantime, Shawn would have good matches and elevate the European Championship, something, quite frankly, he was better at than Davey. It ties into the reasoning that has been given in that Shawn (arguably being at the peak of his ability), would be able to make that title mean something (like what he did for the Intercontinental Championship).
However, because of the backstage Kliq stories which continue to come out, the manner in which Shawn later dropped the European Championship, and the fact that there really was no return match for Shawn vs. Davey since both were out of the WWE by then, many fans have pointed to this PPV as an "obvious" example of the weight Shawn and HHH carried backstage. In recent shoot interviews, Bret Hart (who would leave the WWF six weeks later in spectacular fashion) has said this match was simply a way to make Davey and the rest of the Harts look foolish.
What you can't deny is the heat in the arena, after the match, was white-hot.
Okay with that background established, let's look to see why I feel that what happened at the One Night Only PPV is a mischaracterization of Shawn Michaels:

• The Hart narrative.
  • It's hard to put a lot of stock into "he said, she said," but in case you want to take it as gospel...in Page 256 of Shawn's book (yeah, yeah, I know) Heartbreak & Triumph, he details that Davey was on board with the plans -- with no mentions of if it was pitched an hour before or days earlier. If fans are ready to believe Bret, why can't they leave wiggle room for Shawn?
    • While Shawn certainly has excuses (and apologized) for his sophomoric hijinx and makes himself sound like a creative genius, Bret has consistently come off as two things: 1) Making himself look heroic 2) Making himself look like he's had a perpetual gloomy cloud over him at every stage of life. His book, My Real Life in the Cartoon World of Wrestling, briefly mentions this match and some nonsense of how he "saw the light die in Davey's eyes that day, darkness seeping into a heart that was giving out." Statements like that (and ones he continues to say) are dangerous, essentially telling fans that Shawn is partly responsible for the death of Davey Boy, stemming from this match. Huge mischaracterization.
  • Bret points to how Davey told everyone he expected to win, promised everyone that he was going to win the match for his English fans and especially his sister...as proof that Shawn swerved plans at the last minute just to needle the Harts ("It was designed to make us all look stupid." -- Inside The Ropes ).
    • What? There's literally thousands of instances where wrestlers lose in their hometown and use real life to push stories. And finishes change all the time. The new storyline made long term sense and Vince/Creative agreed. It could have been great, but no one expected Bulldog to quit six weeks later because of the Screwjob. No one expected Shawn's back injury to happen a couple months after that.
  • Diana Hart Smith (Davey's wife and Bret/Owen's sister) in 2012 said, regarding the changed finish, you "have to do what you're told." However, she is not credible, by Bret's own words, stemming from his reaction to a largely fictional biography on the Hart Family, written by Diana (Under the Mat).
• Davey was still booked to look strong, despite losing.
  • The RAW before the event, Davey had his knee "injured" from chair shots by HBK/HHH. And yet Davey still didn't "quit" when locked into the Figure Four at the PPV (even with HBK getting help from all the members of D-X). The match was stopped, akin to Stone Cold vs Bret Hart at WrestleMania 13. Diana Hart Smith even got involved in the post match antics with Chyna.
  • I don't believe, for a moment, the Hart family -- especially Bret -- didn't fully agree to how it all precisely happened especially when you're getting non-wrestlers involved inside the ring. If they wanted to change it, they could've.
    • There's been no mention from Bret about going to bat for Davey and them getting rejected.
• Bret Hart and the Hart Foundation still had a lot of backstage influence.
  • This wasn't Savio Vega or Dean Douglas eating an unnecessary pin. There is an established history of the Harts wanting to do things their way. Bret was World Champion and by far the highest paid wrestler on the roster so although Shawn had stroke, Bret certainly did too. And Davey had been with the company and had success far longer than Shawn (though in interrupted stages). DQ/Countout results are a common occurrence for situations where two powerful wrestlers/factions don't want to "job" to one another. In fact, the 10/6/97 RAW had Bret changing a finish where he was supposed to eat a pin from HHH (via HBK interference) into a Countout.
  • Yes, certainly, maturity was something Shawn and HHH lacked but you have to remember that unlike the Harts, they were not nepo-babies raised in the industry. And they were much younger (Shawn is 8 years younger than Bret whereas HHH is 12 years younger). Even Davey could be considered a nepo-baby since Dynamite Kid was his first cousin and he debuted in the WWF largely because Stu Hart cut a deal to include his son-in-law.
• Bret's possible thought process
  • My opinion (yes, speculation) is that Bret knew he was out the door and so he didn't care too much about what happened to Davey's European Championship since he had his own issues he was dealing with, regarding WCW contracts, Wrestling with Shadows, and dropping the World Championship. He mentioned how stressful all that was. What is fact though is that Davey wasn't someone Bret held in high regard. From talking about him not being able to construct matches, to being under the influence, to personal life issues, to even forcing Davey to cut his long braided hair because according to Davey's family, Bret said it was starting to look too much like his (even though it wasn't the same type nor color).
  • I also feel that with everything that happened between that period, and to Brian Pillman, Owen, and Davey dying very young, it understandably left an awful taste in their mouths. It all gets magnified a bit. Then add that Bret's time with WCW wasn't really anything extraordinary (for his standard), and his constant reminding us of how Goldberg ended his career makes me believe that there still is a grudge with HBK/HHH which will never truly go away. And unlike Shawn who seemingly has moved on, Bret hasn't. Which is why he keeps establishing the narrative that the Hart Foundation was always in the right and the D-X was always in the wrong.
• Finances
  • 1997, the WWF was in peril. House shows and merchandise were selling, but PPVs were not. Having a swerve on a PPV makes the next one "must see TV" (again, this was a world before streaming). In this instance, the next time they came to England. Nitro was still beating RAW.
• Storyline
  • Shawn had only recently turned heel (after SummerSlam, a month earlier). The plan was established from back then to have a heel Shawn face Austin at WrestleMania XIV. This was an era where there really was only one major show per week (and some on tape delay) and most fans did not have internet access at home, so establishing quick, obvious heat was important. What better way than to "screw" Davey in front of his fans and family? Beating Davey in the USA wasn't going to do it because, remember, Davey was a heel in the USA. 9/29/97 (two days later) Davey faced Vader in New York. Vader was about to beat him clean and then the Harts stormed in and used weapons on Vader, resulting in a DQ.
    • If not beat Davey, a former Intercontinental Champion, then who? The talent roster was quite thin and a memorable Undertaker program was upcoming. Also, Shawn had not had a singles belt since Feb 1997. Nevertheless, the ratings jumped towards the end of 1997.
• Defending the European Championship
  • How many of you remember Davey ever defending the European Championship on RAW or a PPV? From the moment he won it on 2/26/97, over the next seven months, he defended it only four times on non-house shows. Even if you include house shows, the vast majority of the defenses were in the USA so it was hardly a Europe-only belt. All the four RAW or PPV matches ended in DQ/Countout type finishes. I'll be honest, I haven't watched every single one of those matches but I do see that he beat HHH via pinfall, as one of his first defenses on 2/28/97. Davey regained the belt on 10/26/99 after he came back, but lost it six weeks later on 12/12/99 as he started spiraling, defending it only a handful of times on TV.
  • Shawn, unlike Davey, really could make that belt mean something so I do believe the Manchester return match in the Spring of 1998, after he dropped the World title to Austin, would've been big (not unlike Hart vs Bulldog at SummerSlam 1992). Even his most ardent haters will admit to HBK's talent. Yes, he dropped it to HHH in a comedic fashion on 12/11/97 but what was the alternative? With Bret leaving/gone and Shawn in a program with The Undertaker (who didn't need the European Championship since he was about to face Kane), as a World Champion (earlier than he thought he was going to be -- Screwjob plans were hatched later than Sept) him randomly losing the European title would've made him look bad even if it was lost in an underhanded fashion. Losing it to Owen could've been a possibility but Owen would win the Intercontinental Championship on 10/5/97 so that wouldn't really make sense neither. That said, the two of them faced one another on 10/20/97 in a title for title clash (No Contest). Owen later beat HHH for the European title on 2/26/98 (and then lost it back) and the two later had a WrestleMania XIV match for it. So dropping it to HHH made sense. Look at the roster back then and tell me who an alternative could have been?
  • Shawn gets a lot of heat for not defending the European title as often as some feel he should have. But as of 9/20/97, the WWE didn't know what Bret was going to do. Shawn infamously won the World Championship on 11/9/97. I'm not going to rehash the backstage Montreal play-by-play but I firmly believe that if Bret stayed with the WWE for a bit longer, Shawn would have had more time to have matches for the European title. The problem is everything happened so quickly. Unlike Davey, it's not like Shawn spent seven months as European Champion and defended it only four times on TV. Shawn did defend it three times on TV but in 2 1/2 months including an epic with Shamrock on RAW on 11/3/97, before he won the World title from Bret. Between a program with The Undertaker, leading D-X, and becoming World Champion sooner than he expected, there was no time (or really justification) to defend the European title even more often, when he had a program with Austin coming (in arguably the biggest title change in history).

TL:DR Even if (big, if) the finish was changed an hour before showtime, Davey agreed to the finish (with what I believe is with the Hart family on board -- but seeing how it all played out over the next few months and years left a bad taste and narrative change). Shawn winning the European Championship was what was best for business. Therefore Shawn flexing his backstage power "just because" or "only to hate on the Harts" makes zero sense.

There are plenty of ways to convert ones paper flashcards to digital anki flashcards. After some research however I did not found a reliable way that suited my needs. The goal of this post is to document my workflow (just another workflow) so that people who find themself in a similar situation may be able to profit and save time and nerves.
Before we get started please note that English is not my native language and although I tried my best to get the spelling and grammar right there will most likely be (a lot of) mistakes.
Secondly I am running a Linux machine and I am using the command line for step two. That being said, I am no programmer and no Linux power user, if I can do it so can you! This However means there are most certainly more elegant ways to write the bash script and use the command line in step two. I appreciate any suggestions. Without any further ado lets get started:
The situation: I want to convert ~2000 paper flashcards to anki flashcards (yeah I know.. f me).

1. Scanning

I was quite lucky to have had access to a good scanning machine (Canon imageFORMULA). With that I was able to scan a whole chunk of flashcards ~50 at once. The software for that scanner saved EACH scanned flashcard as a separate pdf file. So every flashcard (front and back) was saved as a pdf file with the nametopic_xxx.pdf (important later). Note that topic refers to the topic of the flashcard and the xxx to the total number of scanned flashcards within that topic. For example: if I had 122 flashcards on complex analysis, I would scan them in four chunks (the scanner was not able to handle more than ~50 flashcards at once) and end up with pdf files ranging from 001 to 122 all named complexAnalysis_001.pdf ... complexAnalysis_122.pdf. So far so good till I learned that Anki can not import pdf files. Although there are Add-ons for that job I did not had any success with them.

2. Converting pdf to png

After some research I found out that you could quite easily use .png files to create anki flashcards. So converting all our scans is the next step. Turns out most Linux machines have quite a convenient command line tool for that job. You can use pdftoppm as part of the popplerpackage which is installed on most Linux machines (if not sudo apt install poppler-utils should do the job on Debian based systems). If we look at our example from Step 1. we can use the command

 pdftoppm -png complexAnalysis_001.pdf complexAnalysis_001 

to generate TWO .png files from that one pdf. We end up with the png files complexAnalysis_001-1.png and complexAnalysis_001-2.png where 001-1.png contains the front of our scanned flashcard and 001-2.png the back. Writing a little bash script (note: that is the first time I wrote a bash script so please go easy on me),

which iterates from 000 to 199, converted all my scanned complex analysis Flashcards to .png files. Isn't that cool?! Note that you need to change your directory to the location where all your files are when running the script. Also of note: You get an I/O error for every number for which there is no pdf file so in my example there will be an I/O error for 000 and every number >122. This however is nothing to worry about since the script just continues on.

3. So many PNGs... what now?

Now we want to create a .csv file with which we tell anki that the front for each of our 122 Flashcards is complexAnalysis_xxx-1.pngand the back is complexAnalysis_xxx-2.png. The Idea to import the Flashcards this way and how to create the .csv file comes from this post. The "explanation" on what is going on goes as follows: We can tell Anki to include a picture for the front and/or back of the flashcard. (I don't know any HTML so take my word with a grain of salt here) If we add to the front of our anki flashcards and to the back, we end up with a anki flashcard which is just like the paper flashcard. I believe this command tells anki so show the Image XYZ.png (this of course only works when the image XYZ.png is inside the Anki Media folder. More on that in Step 4). So the idea is to create a .csv file in which the first column includes the command for each cards front side and the second column the cards back side. In plain English: our spreedsheet (.csv file) has to look like this

only instead of complex Analysis 001-1 and so on.
I used LibreOffice Calc however Excel, google sheets and so on should all work similar if not even in the exact same way. Make sure all columns are formatted to text. In LibreOffice Calc we can connect two strings of text together with the command =CONCAT("text1","text2"). So first Column D represents the Flashcard # (Flashcards 001-122). Column E and F will represent the front (-1) and the back (-2 ) of our Flashcards. If we now call =CONCAT(D1,E1) (and=CONCAT(D1,E1)) in Column G (Column H) we get the String/Text 001-01 (001-02). We can now use this in Column A (and B) to assemble our full command by typing =CONCAT(CONCAT("") (and =CONCAT(CONCAT("")). I have prepared the Spreadsheet below:

Why do we do this? Easy! If you now select Columns A - H and Rows 1 and 2 (so everything on the Table above) you can Drag them down all the way to row 122 (if you want to Add Tags for Cards you can type them in Column C). There is the ready to export spreadsheet for you! Export or save as a .csv file now and you are ready to go to the next Step!

4. Moving the PNGs into place

Move all the .png files which we created in Step 2 to your Anki Media folder. On Linux (if you have used ankis default installation) you can just cd into to folder with all your .png files and type the command

cp *.png ~/home/henry/.local/share/Anki2/User1/collection.media 

5. The magical Import

Almost done! Open up Anki. Go to File>Import and select the .csv file you created in Step 3. Now make sure "Front" ist set to Column 1 and "Back" is set so Column 2. If you added Tags in Step 3 make sure to set "Tags" to Column 3. Click on Import and you are done! All the scanned paper flashcards are now in Anki as digital ones, isn't that cool!
It took me for each, scanning and doing Step 1-5, about one afternoon till I had all my ~2000 paper flashcards in Anki. It is still some work but nothing terrible. I appreciate any suggestions and I am happy to answer questions if some arise. I hope this comes in handy for people in a similar situation. Happy studying everyone!

I am looking for some critique on my build. Ideally this will be used for video editing (up to 4k30fps), streaming, music production and playing games at 1440p. I want to go with the Intel/Nvidia combo for video editing and better optimization for 3D rendering as well since that is something I'm interested in. I am looking to stay around $1,600 for the tower, not including any OS or peripherals.
What would you change?
Should I put more money into the cooler, case, or power supply?

A: This doesn't matter much. If I can add it without substantially increasing the cost then okay. I would prefer just to have a clean/organized build inside the case. It would be nice if every single LED light can be shut off as this will be where I am sleeping. (Surge protector and status LEDs that are super bright are the most annoying thing on the planet besides mosquitoes.)

Any other specific requests or requirements? Examples might include a specific minimum amount of storage, or a particular CPU socket for a future upgrade path, etc.

I am long term subbing in middle school art (5-8th grade) art through the rest of the year because the current teacher had a baby. She has also decided to be a stay at home mom and is not coming back to teach. As part of my assignment I was tasked with end of the year cleanup of the room. I have been slowly cleaning and organizing everything in the room for next years new art teacher. The room is incredibly messy with random supplies in just about every drawer and cupboard. How much old art should I purge in an effort to clean up. I am taking this rather seriously because I personally would hate to take over in job where everything is a total mess. I have already taken several good examples of each art project and organized the few lesson plans I have found in different drawers (sometimes different parts of the lesson plan were in different drawers around the classroom!!) I have also handed back as much art as l could but there are entire drawers filled with art that was never handed back, most still in the class folder! What would you want if you were starting in a new classroom/school? Should I take off the posters from the wall and put them away so the new art teacher can make the room how they want? What do I do? Any advice is very appreciated.
As a side note I would like to say that I just graduated in January with a Physical Education/ Adapted PE/Health/Coaching/Outdoor Adventure degree. While I do quite a bit of art in my free time I don’t know what sort of environment is normal for a new teacher to step into.

I was really excited to finally try Arc when it comes to windows as people seemed to love it and it always looked interesting and clean to me. Here I will write a short review of what i've noticed with using it a few days.
I won't touch so much on the subject on side tabs, Spaces, "bookmarks", these are not really issues and are definitely subjective and different, some people might like the new approach, some dont.
Here's a quick summary of my thoughts on the most notable "features" (Sidenav, Spaces, Different Logic for Bookmarks)

• I personally like the side nav, i like how easy it is to see everything and is forcing me to use my keaboard more for navigation (Ctrl+S, Ctrl+T, Ctrl+W), which i enjoy. It also looks great
• Spaces, and similar features like it in other browsers, is something that's not a part of my workflow typically. I like everything in one place and don't like unnecessary overhead. However, i see great potential in this for people who want to separate personal life and work, or multiple different works in an organized way.
• I don't use bookmarks as heavily as some people either, but it definitely feels weird having them act as tabs, maybe I could get used to it.

I just wanted to mention those obvious and biggest selling points of Arc; however, these are subjective features and changing the way people think about browsers and navigation, I don't want to talk about this atm. Each person should decide if they like what Arc has to offer when it comes to these "breaking" changes.
I also don't want to talk about any early Windows bugs, I'm sure those will be sorted out soon.
What I primarily wanted to talk about is some missing features. Sadly, at this point in time, Arc feels like a downgrade. Many features are missing or abstracted in a very weird way, and its not clear why, most of the things I'm about to talk about would not impact the "nature" of Arc, so I'm not sure why they were left out or not implemented.

1. Favourites (Quick access, or h/e you wanna call it)

When I started using Arc, considering that there is no way to customize the default home page, I was disappointed to see that theres no way for me to quickly open up some my most visited places. Then i found the Favourites, and i was pleasantly surprised, they looked clean, were accessible at all times, didn't take up too much space, perfect. That's what i thought until i was disappointed again.
The way favourites behave is just dumb, i have no other way of putting it. Its horrible and mostly unusable.
Example: Let's say I favorite Netflix. I click on it to open it, it's not gonna create a new tab, its just gonna open it in favorites. I play a movie and navigate off. There is NO WAY for me to tell that Netflix was ever even opened, that I have an entire movie playing in the background, i would have no idea where its coming from, what is playing, or anything about it, until i finally click on it to see whats going on. It's a horrible experience.
This somewhat intertwines with the way current "bookmarks" behave, except that this type of behavior is never expected from a quick-access menu. Atm these are just glorified tabs, but worse since they have no title, no indicators for being opened or playing audio, nothing.
To fix this simply make clicking on this open a new tab, I don't see how the current approach is better.

2. Titles

I can't for the life of me figure out why this is the case, but some webpage titles are overridden. Most notably I noticed Gmail, but I think i saw other cases as well.
In other browsers the title bar would show something like: Inbox(5) - [myemail@gmail.com](mailto:myemail@gmail.com)
In Arc it shows: Gmail
Just why? A very useful piece of information coming from the third party website itself is overridden for a worse user experience.

3. Multi-monitomulti-window support

For this part it might be important to notice the difference between Windows and Mac users. Correct me if I'm wrong but Mac seems typically focused on one monitor (considering the product), and the workflows for MacOS apps are built with that in mind. I'm not saying that all windows users use multiple monitors, in fact most don't, but it seems more common to have those types of customizability.
Now that Arc is on Windows the "Mac way of doing things" seems to remain, and everything feels slightly off.

• Technically you can have multiple arc windows, but the only way to make them is to drag and drop tabs. However, this creates an entirely new unnamed new space, and I'm not sure if that is what i would want.
• Creating new windows lacks the UX compared to Chrome, where you can just drag it out anywhere and it works natively the way a windows app is expected to.
• Middle-clicking the Arc icon in the taskbar doesn't do anything (should open a new window). And Right Click->New window opens the original Space with the same tabs,it feels very off and buggy, I don't see the benefit.
• Splitting is probably the closest I found to match the way I typically use a browser. However these are also not very intuitive, its hard to navigate, replace/add/close tabs, theres a weird white border, you cant split vertically

4. Settings

I couldn't wait to dive into the settings and personalize my Arc experience to fix all of these "issues" I was having. Only to find that settings pretty much don't exist. There is nothing.
(I'm not talking about chromium settings, these need to exist. But even these are impossible to find for an average user)
Here are all the available options

• Change the Theme between the two (they seem exactly the same)
• Change default search engine
• Setup when tabs are archived
• THATS IT, those 3 settings are the only ones that exist.

In such an "innovative" browser I expected intinitely more options to tweak things around. The way it currently is, if you don't like Arcs very opinionated way of doing things, you can't do anything about it. This is probably one of my biggest downsides.

5. Why?

• Opening a URL/Search window always shows "The Browser Company" youtube channel as one of the option? At least disable it when opened once, or put more rows in this menu, you remove an entire space for most recently opened places for an ad.
• Navigating off a page playing a puts a video in a small window over your other stuff. Maybe 1/20 times i watch a video I might want this to happen, the rest of the time, its a music video, podcast, something to listen to, you just navigated quickly off of it, etc. At least add an option to remove this. (As I was writing this i found a way to disable the "picture in picture", I will leave the section to show my initial thought, but im pleasantly surprised i was able to fix this and im willing to give other features a try the same way)

Conclusion

I will still be using Arc for a while to see if I can get used to some of my current pain-points and to give it a better shot, as well as wait for potential upgrades.

I got a total of six quotes (five from EnergySage and SunRun). I know SunRun gets a lot of hate around these part for overpromising and underdelivering, but in light of that, I'm curious if other companies may be doing the same.
For example, SunRun and IntegrateSun are both recommending 5.2W systems with 13 panels. SunRun wants to put nine on the house and four on my garage (requiring trenching to wire back into the main panel), but IntegrateSun says they can do them all on the house. SunRun puts the electricity needs met for this system at 89% while IntegrateSun puts it at 118%. SunRun has actually sent out a surveyor while the other companies are waiting for me to commit before they'll do their official survey, which makes me trust SunRun a bit more.
Ultimately, SunRun is around $10k more than IntegrateSun (and Cosmo Solaris is somewhere in the middle of the two, promising 122% on 11 430W panels, all on the house). IntegrateSun seems like the runaway winner, but what are the odds that they're promising more than they can deliver?
TL;DR: Given SunRun's reputation for overselling, I'm wondering if other companies are doing the same. Here are the three quotes:

I'm a digital archivist with a ~500TB collection that I'm looking to share with people. This is the first time I'm expanding access outside my small-circle of friends. I'm looking for people who are also interested in joining and building a real community of AV nerds.
The collection is primarily movies and tv shows. There is a lot of stuff that was personally ripped and you won't find elsewhere, and some "lost media" that took some effort to find.
A lot of attention was paid to "completeness" and correct organization, with over 2500 fully complete TV series and 10000 movies. Completeness includes downloading full franchises of content, so I tend to have all the special episodes/reboots/sequels/spinoffs/movie of any particular franchise. If I'm missing an episode of something, that's because it probably just isn't available ANYWHERE. Quality is almost always the best available resolution/format for whatever content is on the server.
You will also get access to my Overseerr page, where you can request anything I don't already have. Available Sources: All top tier private trackers, many specialized private trackers. Can do a custom request rip if its available on any online streaming service, even if its a foreign streamer like FujiTV On Demand.
I also regularly stream major live events and PPV events for free through our own streaming site.
If you don't make the cut for the Plex, you will still be able to join our Discord where you will be able to participate in the community, join our watch parties, and have an opportunity to join our Plex in the future.

Here are the types of contributors I'm looking for:
1) Curators
You will be responsible for helping me surface content that we already have and finding content to add. This means suggesting movies to watch on movie nights or creating thematic collections. For example: you are a horror movie buff that can curate Halloween collections, or deep cut collection of the best cult horror movies.
2) Discord Community Managers
You will be responsible for helping me recruit for the community, run events, and moderate. This means stuff like finding new users to bring on the Discord, engaging our users there, and setting up events like movie nights or poker nights.
3) Lost or Obscure Media Hunters
You will be responsible for helping me find and rip lost or obscure media. I already have access to most private trackers, but maybe you have invites to some obscure private tracker for specific content I can't find. Maybe you go out of your way to find out of print DVDs that nobody else has uploaded anywhere. You know who you are.
4) Graphics Designers and Video Editors
You will be responsible for helping me design a logo for our community, posters for community events, and other design related tasks. We have a bunch of custom prerolls I created for the Plex and I am looking for someone that can help create more that we can rotate on a regular or seasonal basis.
5) Plex Share Managers
You will be responsible for helping me maintain good practices and policies with regards to inviting people to the Plex share. I've only opened this up to a limited number of people so far so that I can ensure the best experience for our users, and so I don't get arbitrarily banned by Plex. I'd like to keep it that way. You've set up a Plex Share community before or have a lot of experience with them.
6) Sysadmins
I'm just looking for other homelab geeks to recommend new services, bounce ideas and help troubleshoot stuff. Eventually looking for other admins to help me maintain infrastructure and do admin work when I'm not available to do so.
7) Mirror providers
Maybe you live in another region and have the resources to setup a mirror.

Thanks for any responses in advance. I've been a long-time follower of the sub, first time poster however. Currently a researcher at a small systematic global macro fund, 1-2 years in.
I have a question about how to identify unique regimes from a particular dataset. What I mean by unique is that, whatever the methodology is, it should converge to the same regimes when given the same data (i.e., the local minima's should at least be somewhat close to one another when perturbing the random_state). I have tried, for example, k-means, but this solution is not unique and depends stochastically upon the starting point. Are there any such algorithms that exist out there that could solve this problem, or a related literature I should read? My background is more econometrics, so this is an area with which I am not as familiar, which may perhaps be obvious from how I've stated the question.

I noticed a while back that there's a state website with contact info for tons of Texas bands and I think it was something affiliated with the Texas Music Office: https://gov.texas.gov/music . You could literally find at a glance, contact info for the bookers for most red dirt artists but also other kinds of bands. The other day Saving Country Music had an article about something else (Big Loud Records texas division) and it reminded me of this state project existing and how cool it is.

Those are government examples, but tourism development happens at all kinds of levels, private, nonprofit, and public.
I'm always interested in how you can develop local scenes in places that supposedly don't have one and we've discsssed it on the sub quite a it in the past. I figured I'd put this out there in case it inspires anyone to look into creative opportunities for music promotion at their local level.
Of course Texas is up there with maybe 2 other US regions (which are just cities) in promoting music as a major part of their image. Nashville and New Orleans are the other two places I can think of.
There are sevearl towns or states where it seems like it could be an obvious tourism development project for local government or business development/chamber of commerce sorts of groups. Even developing a centralized website with info on local bands and resources for bands to promote themselvs like the Texas Music Ofice has on their website seems like a fairly affordable way to help nurture live music in your area:https://gov.texas.gov/music/page/resources
I've lived in other states with great music scenes in the South but there wasn't as much of an official push like this Texas one (Nashville is the obvious exception). Are any other regions doing stuff like this, outside of private businesses?
