This should be very interesting as the SI (NYSE+TSX) is 61.5M shares which is 11.6%. This is greater than what was in the meme run for Blackberry.

The relentless/bottomless shorting started in Nov 2020 with the new debenture document which was crafted very poorly by RBC such that the holders of the 60M debentures could not convert and had a standstill until maturity so its shares were held by RBC in trust and provided upto 60M shares to short for free. So at every turn, ER, news, the relentless, bottomless shorting by the big boys on to which retail piggybacked. This time the big boys provided the shares for the retail shorters while they exited their cornered positions as they could get more cheap shares which they thought would happen in Nov with equity raise by driving the stock to a lower position and the narrative that would suit them. But BB paid part of the debentures and Fairfax temporarily extended the debentures for 25M shares ($150M) for 3-6months. So they shorted more at every turn.
On Jan 23/24 the Notes announcement much to the chagrin of the shorts, would only be given under very strict stipulation and requirment so no shares or hedge for the shorties....what do they do? Further short...but this time the retail who piggybacked in the past kept on getting cheap shares to short while the big boys provided them with shares and they bought them in the dark pool for the past ninety days. The big boys have provided information to the retail shorts about BB in the past but this time the narrative is misleading and selfserving. With the new rules coming in effect the big boys who have exited their short positions and swapped with retail shorts are going to want their shares back before May 24. The retail shorts have been played and the low volume indicates that they cannot purchase shares as the big boys and institutions have loaded in the last 90 days with the VWAP ~$2.90 through the dark pool buy adding a third or fourth decimal to the bid and plucking off the shares.

You may ask how do the big boys pick off the shares..they use a third or fourth decimal to the bid in the dark pool and the lit pool cannot see it but Citadel and Virtu who are the gatekeepers see and act accordingly as they did in the meme run.

Look closely at the above chart which is last 90 days of information. Look at the size of the trades and many contigent trades. All this happened in the dark pool.
Soon as the announcement of the notes, the big boys started shorting on Jan 23 after hours at which time the price was $3.55 and it continued.
This came to illumination when First Trust did it because it had over 5% and ~33M shares.They had to declare on 13G. What they did was cross their shares to Grace Partner at a lower price while simultaneously shorting at $3.55 so they got a tax write off and then covered in Grace Partner and along the way they bought 3M more shares which was essentially from the tax profit.
Many funds did this giving illusion to retail shorts that they were shorting but had the shares to cover. They kept on buying shares that were lent out or garnering new positions. We shall see this in the 13F coming out mid May.
Along for the ride as previous times retail shorts piled in but now with this new rule effective May 24 by SEC means that institutions and hedge funds have to show their hand. As naked shorting will now be in the open, the naked positions have to be closed out. Retail owns about 180M shares, past and present BB employes about 100M shares and institutions about ~300M shares. So where are the 61.5M shares short going to come from?
Also note that after the Veritas rumour the SI for both exchanges was low in Sept and continued to grow when the deal was not announced on Sep 15. I have posted the charts previouly for your information.

These are facts!
As to the notion that institutional ownership is low is actually not true as since June it has been increasing and furthermore, from the early compliance of 13F you can see that three institutions increased their position in Q1 by ~9M shares:

meine Frau und ich wollen mittelfristig ein Haus bauen/kaufen und sind so auf das Thema Bausparvertrag gekommen. Sie hat einen Zuteilungsreifen und einen in den sie noch einzahlt. Der Zuteilungsreife ist von 2014 (Zuteilungsreif seit 20.03.2022) und bietet bei 10500€ Sparbetrag 9500€ Darlehen zu affengeilen 4,05% Zinsen pa.
Hier also die Frage. Wie geht man mit so etwas um? Als Lehrgeld verbuchen und Spareinlagen entnehmen?

2024.01.14 17:30 mindsurfer7 9500€ für Zahnspange (Universitätszahnklinik - Medizinische Universität Wien) - üblich oder überteuert?

Hallo! Mich hätten die Meinungen bzw. Erfahrungen hier zu im Titel stehenden Thema interessiert. Zu meiner Situation: Ich (m, 32) hatte in meiner Kindheit jahrelang abnehmbare Zahnspangen für über Nacht. Hab' irgendwann eigenwillig damit aufgehört. Seitdem habe ich jetzt nach wie vor einen Engstand in der unteren Zahnreihe und in der oberen auch ganz ein wenig. Zusätzlich habe ich aber auch einen Überbiss (Malokklussion Klasse 2), der auch skeletal bedingt ist . d.h. Ober- und Unterkiefer stehen nicht ganz richtig zueinander. Mein Unterkiefer müsste weiter vorne sein, als es der Fall ist. Dadurch sind die unteren Schneidezähne als Kompensation auch etwas nach außen gekippt. Hatte jetzt schon 2 Beratungstermine in der Uni Zahnklinik (Sensengasse 2a). Mir wurde gesagt, dass ich mein eigentliches Problem nur mit einer Kiefer- OP lösen kann, was ich eigentlich schon wusste, weil mir das in der Jugend schon mal gesagt worden war. Das ist die einzige Möglichkeit, Ober- und Unterkiefer richtig zueinander zu stellen. Für diese OP bräuchte ich aber sowieso erst recht die Zahnspangen, damit zuerst die Zähne in die richtige Position gerückt werden und anschließend die/ der Kiefer. Die Krankenkasse übernimmt die Kosten der OP, aber nicht die der Zahnspangen bzw. diagnostischen Untersuchungen dafür. Auch wenn sie Voraussetzung für die bei mir prinzipiell indizierten OP sind. Ganz möglicherweise hat auch eine manchmal auftretende Schlafapnoe mit meiner Kieferstellung zu tun (bin nicht übergewichtig mit BMI 22,5).
Den Kostenvoranschlag, den ich im Oktober 2023 bekommen habe: 1439 € für Diagnostik (Digitaler Scan, Fernröntgen, Modellanalyse etc.) 7400 € + 668€ für Lingualbrackets, aufgeteilt auf 2 Jahre (1124€ jedes eventuelle weitere Behandlungsjahr)
Das wären zumindest 9500€. Nachdem, was ich ab und dann bei Bekannten oder Reddit-Usern mitbekommen habe, haben sich die Kosten selten auf diesem Niveau bewegt kommt mir vor. Ist die Uni Zahnklinik teurer als andere Adressen? Geht es auch etwas günstiger? Hat jemand von Euch Erfahrung mit einer kieferorthopädischen Behandlung auf der Uni Zahnklinik?

Hallo ihr Lieben, ich habe im September eine Ausbildung zur Operationstechnischen Assistentin angefangen in einer Klinik, die ca. 40km von meinem Wohnort entfernt ist. Ich bin ganz ehrlich, ich habe die Kosten und den verbundenen Aufwand mit dem Pendeln etwas unterschätzt und weiß ehrlich gesagt nicht ob ich das die 3 Jahre wirklich durchziehen kann und möchte. Jetzt bin ich halt am überlegen, unter Umständen an eine der 2 Kliniken in meiner Stadt zu wechseln, in der Hoffnung, dass sich vielleicht schon jemand gegen die Ausbildung entschieden hat und dementsprechend ein Platz frei wäre. Die Frage ist hierbei bloß, ob das überhaupt möglich wäre, denn im Internet und auch im OTA-Gesetz finde ich nichts zu diesem Thema. Hat da vielleicht schon jemand Erfahrung mit und hat vielleicht sogar selber schon die Klinik gewechselt? Eine der beiden Kliniken würde auch an der selben Berufsschule ausbilden wie meine aktuelle Klinik, falls das noch irgendwie relevant sein könnte.

2023.10.17 11:58 sqwwqw5 Pixel 7 Pro and the experience so far

The last time I installed any 3rd part ROM on a phone was almost 10 years ago, it was a Motorola ME525 installed with CyanogenMod and it was a blast. As time moved on, I switched to iPhones and never looked back only with the occasional purchase of a Samsung S6 and a Blackberry Passport, these weren't good.
Last year though, I bought a Pixel 7 Pro, and it changed how I view Android phones completely, it's silky smooth and blazing fast just like an iPhone while being free to install whatever apps I want. However, after using it for a while there are two main gripes I have with this phone, the first is the fact that there seems to be no way to completely block the OTA updates, and the second is the poor battery life.
After being nagged about OTAs, losing the root all the time, and finally being forced to update to Android 14 I decided to give Lineage OS a try, amazingly the user experience is shockingly similar to stock Pixel with the exception of the SMS app, and the lack of Google wallpapers but overall shockingly good. The standby battery life has also improved dramatically, which was not expected by me.
Now that Google has started to offer 7 years of updates for its newest lineup, I hope it won't deter the devs from developing the OS for these phones as these are the only ones left with mostly open hardware and I hope for a better future for AOSP ROMs as a whole.

So preload IVY into the domains, then developers can create any sort of artifical sensoapp within that domain.
Have a car with all domains with IVY. Then you app developers can do whatever they want. From the OEM of course/eco system.

All of us "longs" see all sorts of potential for Blackberry to be at the forefront of Automotive, smart cities, and general IOT convergence in the years, and decades to come.
Now, I know this is a stretch. Very speculative as well, but what else can we do while we wait!
Today Telus (Wireless Carrier and IVY partner) announced a partnership with an Australian EV Charging firm Jolt to install 5000 charging stations across Canada.
The companies expect to begin installing the network of stations which will include Telus's public Wi-Fi capability later this year.
So, I wonder what is the use case for public Wi-Fi provided by a cell carrier? My thoughts are that they want to off load huge upload capacity onto backbone infrastructure instead of OTA (over the air). Perfect spot to do it! Cars are going to need connectivity and bi-directional data access for all sorts of data use cases. What better spot for digital wallets to sync, streaming services to cache data, manufactures to collect vehicle performance insights, OTA updates pushed out for upgrades, geo-location data and advertising. The list is really endless!
QNX and IVY can handle this type of Edge processing and data management by controlling priorities on what data needs to be transmitted and received over which network aiding in bandwidth control and usage!

I run a local OTA server using Python, and I can install COD files via Wi-Fi, but it turned out that most of the old app links are dead. The official Store is obviously dead too. Maybe someone has old archives on a local PC?

Im US-amerikanischen Teil Reddits wird derzeit vermehrt eine aktuelle Studie diskutiert, aus der hervorgeht, dass praktisch in den gesamten USA Süßwasserfische stark mit PFAS (per- und polyfluorierte Alkylverbindungen, Wiki) belastet ist. Demnach wird im Median eine Konzentration von 9500 ng/kg Fisch erreicht. Zur Einordnung: Das Bundesinstitut für Risikobewertung setzt eine tolerierbare wöchentliche Aufnahmemenge von 4.4 ng/kg Körpergewicht (der Person) an – eine Person von 80kg könnte also ohne Bedenken wöchentlich etwa 40g amerikanischen Fisches zu sich nehmen. PFAS werden mit einer Reihe an Erkrankungen in Verbindung gebracht, darunter Leberschäden, Schilddrüsenerkrankungen, Fettleibigkeit, Fruchtbarkeitsstörungen und Krebs.
Nun wurde im vergangenen Jahr eine ähnliche Studie in deutschen Gewässern durchgeführt. Folgt man den Autoren, ist hierzulande PFAS wohl kein so großes Problem ("This underlines that these PFAS (either relatively short-chained or only poly-fluorinated) are either little or not substantially bioaccumulated in fish.") Bei den verwandten PFOS (Perfluoroctansulfonsäure, Wiki) sieht es allerdings anders aus. In fünf von 36 Proben wurden akzeptable Höchstwerte überschritten, wobei wohl insbesondere Flussbarsche betroffen sind.
Mir fehlt es an fachlicher Expertise, diese Studien einzuordnen oder daraus fischereiliche Konsequenzen abzuleiten. Das Thema scheint jedenfalls hierzulande kaum diskutiert zu werden.

I'm running Plex on a Intel i5-9500 at 3.ghz. Passmark score is 9736.
I'm looking at buying a lifetime Plex pass so I can stream and record OTA tv.
Do I need to look at a used HDHomeRun Extend with built in transcoding on the tuner or will my server do the same transcoding easily?
I'm nervous about buying a used HDHomeRun Extend because I don't know how many years it's been running...and what the lifespan will be.
If transcoding on the tuner isn't necessary, should I look at a new HDHomerun tuner or a Hauppauge?

2022.08.22 01:15 Polymathy1 Big hands, tiny little 3 inch wide screens on all new phones?

I have huge hands - like I'm the guy that wears XL gloves. I can palm a samsung S9 and wrap my fingers around the top of it.
And I need a new phone. I'd like something with a much wider screen than that, but of the 10 I just pulled up on bestbuy, the widest was 3.05 inches... (it's also driving me nuts that people are calling the length dimension width).

The most comfortable phone I've had to type on was my blackberry PRIV, which I've had to fall back on recently after an unwanted OTA firmware update screwed up my Ulefone Armor X7 Pro.
