Hey all, I'm a new 4KP Attack from Mars owner, but not new to virtual pinball. I'm sure you've all seen the discourse, but many people aren't thrilled with the lag on the 4KP right now, myself included.
Opinions here seem to range from "this is not a problem, calm down" to "native Zen tables are literally unplayable." I land somewhere in between.
I've had some free time over the last week, so here you go: an unnecessarily in-depth look at the state of input lag on the 4KP as of early May 2024. Everything was measured the week of 5/6.
Ideally, my setup is going to be mostly used for OTG play from my PC with Popper as the front end, so my main goal with this process was to calculate the 4KP hardware's "added lag," which I'm defining as lag above and beyond what I get when using a wired keyboard and low latency gaming monitor.
I don't want to bury the lede too much, so let me put some of my conclusions up near the top:
- OTG input lag is noticeable, and IMO is a problem*, especially with Pinball FX.
- Native non-Zen table input lag is excellent.
- Native Zen table input lag is a problem*, and is roughly 2.75 times higher than non-Zen table input lag.
- The 4KP hardware seems to be adding roughly 35-60ms (average ~43ms) of total input lag on OTG VPX as compared to a keyboard + gaming monitor setup.
- Added OTG input lag is being introduced both from button to PC (~10-15ms) and from PC to playfield (~35-35ms).
*I'm defining "being a problem" as lag significant enough to cause some completely missed hits and ball drains. In other words, the issue isn't just needing to learn new timing for precision shots. Basically, situations where my reflexes are fast enough, but the hardware isn't.
Measurement What matters in virtual pinball is
total input lag or latency, as measured from button press to flip. That means I'm not looking at, for example, VPX's self-reported video latency.
For measurement I used high frame rate video, which is really the best way to measure total latency with the actual vpin software in a real world use situation. I used the iOS app
Is it Snappy? with my iPhone 15 Pro Max. The phone can do 240 frames per second for a frame duration of ~4.2ms. In the app, you tag the frame where the flipper button was pressed and the frame where flipper motion is first seen, giving us a maximum measurement error of
±~8.4ms, but likely much lower.
To standardize as much as possible, when tagging the input frame I tagged the frame that best represented the button being fully pressed. This goes both for the 4KP flipper button and the keyboard button. This seemed like the best way to be consistent from measurement to measurement. I'll also note that doing this errs on the conservative/low side since both flipper buttons and keyboard keys are actuated before they are fully pressed. So the "true" input lag should be slightly higher even than I'm reporting.
I measured a lot of variables that ended up not making a meaningful difference for my setup. Direct X VPX vs Open GL VPX - didn't seem to matter. DisplayPort to HDMI cable vs HDMI to HDMI cable for the playfield - didn't seem to matter. VPX backglass running in .exe mode or not - didn't seem to matter. Having no VPX backglass at all - well this one did seem to show a very small potential gain, but it was within the margin of error.
Your Brain One last and important bit of context: research seems to show that the human brain perceives anything under 100ms as an instant effect when pressing a button. Source: Google. That may be true in terms of a value judgment of "was that instant?," but we can still feel the difference between, for example, 50ms and 100ms of total lag. We could still set 100ms of total input lag though as a soft target or maximum lag that still feels purely good. For me, somewhere in the 100-125ms range is where it starts to feel sluggish, and somewhere between 125ms and 150ms is definitely where it starts to feel bad. I don't have a firm line on what qualifies as unplayable, and I'll leave that to each of you to decide for yourselves.
Results: To keep things consistent, my VPX table was
this version of Attack From Mars because it was specifically tagged as having fast flips and wasn't a brand new table with all the latest bells and whistles. These numbers represent the average of at least 3 separate measurements.
| Output: Native 4KP | Output: PC to Monitor | Output: PC to Playfield |
Native 4KP: | | | |
Magic Pixel Tables | ~45ms | - | - |
Attack from Mars (Effects off) | ~125ms | - | - |
Attack from Mars (Effects on) | ~138ms | - | - |
OTG: | | | |
Pinball FX (Effects on and off) | - | - | ~150ms |
VPX w/ keyboard input | - | ~88ms | ~114ms |
VPX w/ 4KP button input | - | ~96ms | ~131ms |
So there you have it: an average of ~131ms of total input lag when playing VPX in OTG mode. The 4KP hardware seems to be adding roughly 10-15ms of lag on the input side and roughly 25-35ms of lag on the output side, for a total of ~35-60ms of added lag. This is definitely falling short of my soft target of 100ms or less of total lag, which explains why OTG play on the 4KP doesn't feel great right now. Pinball FX is especially bad at ~150ms of total lag, which feels borderline unplayable to me. The native Attack from Mars table is similar right now to VPX OTG. If this level of lag doesn't bother you, I'm happy for you, but it definitely bothers me.
A few last notes:
- I did measure a few different tables in VPX, and some did show PC to Monitor w/ keyboard numbers as low as ~50ms. So even within VPX, there is definitely a range of total input lag that we'll experience. Some tables likely will hit that 100ms or less target.
- I didn't want to clutter this up with another column, but measurements did show that running through Popper may introduce some additional input lag. It was in the 8-12ms range, so not enough outside the margin of error that it made me want to investigate in more detail.
- I replaced the stock 4KP flipper buttons with aftermarket gold leaf buttons, and that is what was used in my measurements. They are allegedly more responsive than stock, but I didn't measure that.
- PC specs: Intel i5-12600KF, 32GB DDR4-3600 RAM, NVME SSD, 4070 GPU, custom usb-c keyboard, Acer Nitro monitor-150hz-led-monitor).

2024.05.14 00:02 EJC28 Falcons 2024 Draft Analysis Compilation
Round 1, Pick 8 - Michael Penix Jr., QB, Washington: NFL: I’m not sure anyone expected Atlanta, which signed Kirk Cousins to a four-year, $180 million deal in March, to take a quarterback in the top 10, but here we are. Penix is a big-time playmaker who is the top deep-ball passer in this class. He has surgical precision and throws with good anticipation from the pocket.
CBS Sports: B-. They opted to take their quarterback of the future by taking Penix. He has all the tools, but will learn and wait behind Kirk Cousins. I wonder if he can rush the passer. Like the player, but don’t like the pick.
ESPN: Stunner. The Falcons pulled off the shocker of the first round, taking Penix earlier than just about every expert predicted. He was the fourth quarterback taken in the top 10. There's no doubt Atlanta saw something in Penix when watching him on tape and visiting him. The team sent a ton of staff to see him in recent weeks. Obviously, they felt comfortable with his durability, despite four season-ending injuries in college. Penix, a lefty, has an incredible arm, and from a skill standpoint, he's certainly right up there among the best signal callers on the board. And now he's the successor to Kirk Cousins.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Has devoted his life to the church of the flying spaghetti monster.
Round 2, Pick 35 - Ruke Orhorhoro, DT, Clemson: NFL: Another trade, with the Falcons swooping up. And this is their second curious pick of this draft. Nothing against Orhorhoro, who has some intriguing skills and might be a better stat stuffer in the NFL than he was at Clemson. But with Johnny Newton on the board, this pick felt like a reach when you consider Atlanta's biggest need -- pass rush.
CBS Sports: B. Big, long, powerful interior rusher without many pass-rush moves. But his traits shine against the run and has enough explosion to win between gaps or with bull rushes. Expensive trade up though hurts his grade despite Falcons filling a need with quality prospect.
ESPN: The Falcons needed a pass-rusher, particularly an EDGE. Most of the impact players at that position went in the first round. Atlanta attempted to trade back into the late first, but weren't able to do so. Instead, the Falcons took Orhorhoro, a defensive tackle who has pass-rushing chops from the inside. Since 2021, Orhorhoro had 9.5 sacks lined up as a DT, which were tied for third in the ACC. The Nigeria-born Orhorhoro didn't start playing football until he was a junior in high school, so the Falcons probably like his upside.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: His bright green fanny pack when traveling is a must.
Round 3, Pick 74 - Bralen Trice, LB, Washington: NFL: Trice was a consistent pressure source the past two years for the Huskies but had a rough pre-draft process when he shed a bunch of weight for the NFL Scouting Combine but failed to display better speed because of it. Trice was smart to bulk back up for his pro day because I think his game is predicated on winning with a combination of effort and surprising pop in his hands.
CBS Sports: A-. Bad testing hurt his stock but this is as productive of an EDGE as there is in this class. Slippery with pass-rush plans galore. Smaller than his listed weight and doesn’t have serious burst. Flashes of bend though.
ESPN: The Falcons got their pure pass-rusher and, boy, did they need it. This is a team that has had 18 fewer sacks than any other franchise in the NFL over the past three seasons. Atlanta's pass rush win rate was dead last in the league in 2023. Trice had 16 sacks over the past two seasons, which was tied for the fourth most among Power 5 players during that stretch. He's had 12 games with five or more pressures since the start of the 2022 season, which leads all FBS players. Trice played mostly outside linebacker at Washington and he had a reputation for being able to get to the quarterback.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Smells like Celestial Seasonings sleepy-time tea.
Round 4, Pick 109 - Brandon Dorlus, DT, Oregon: NFL: Round 4 is for the Ducks. I haven't followed the Falcons' logic on every one of their selections this year, but I like Dorlus here. He can play multiple spots along the D-line and be a movable piece for Raheem Morris' unit.
CBS Sports: A-. Fun, twitchy and thick “tweener” who can literally win at any alignment along the defensive line. Isn’t the most sudden, nor the best with his hands but is so slippery between blockers. Overall athletic profile is impressive. Rushes can get too high, doesn’t play with much power. Can get washed out vs. the run. Has frame to add more weight.
ESPN: It was somewhat surprising the Falcons didn't take a cornerback here or even a safety. But the team is clearly and rapidly reshaping its defensive line, which already had quality veteran players in Grady Jarrett and David Onyemata. Dorlus is Atlanta's second straight defensive line selection. And Dorlus, who led Oregon with five sacks, is extremely versatile. He can play inside, as a defensive end or even outside linebacker. Pass-rushers were the Falcons' biggest needs and now they have three rookies who fit the bill after not taking a defender with the No. 8 overall pick as many expected.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Wants you to call your family and tell them you love and cherish them.
Round 5, Pick 143 - JD Bertrand, LB, Notre Dame: NFL: An Atlanta native, Bertrand is a coach's dream in spite of his subpar length and injury history. He's instinctive and tough and carries a hard-hat mentality to work every day.
CBS Sports: C. So active, so smart. Always around the ball. Reads his keys in a flash. Block-avoider. Ascending coverage skill just minimal ball production at Notre Dame. High tackling numbers but also misses many.
ESPN: The Falcons are completely reshaping their front seven in this draft. In Bertrand, they not only get their second collegiate defensive team captain (Bralen Trice was captain at Washington), but also someone with significant physical tools. Bertrand was a three-year starter at Notre Dame, led the team with 76 tackles in 2023 and had 16 tackles behind the line of scrimmage this past season. He's also a former Eagle Scout and was a finalist for the Wuerffel Trophy for community service.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Prefers to code in Notepad with the wingding font.
Round 6, Pick 186 - Jase McClellan, RB, Alabama: NFL: McClellan is a power back who runs with great toughness and exercises great ball security, fumbling only once in college on nearly 400 touches. But he's a one-dimensional runner on a team pretty loaded at running back.
CBS Sports: C+. Jack of all trades, master of none with minimal mileage on his legs. Will run away from some slower defenders but not a true burner. Receiving ability is there. Vision is a strength between the tackles. Elusive but not special in that regard. Classic scatback.
ESPN: The team needed a third running back behind Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier, and that's presumably where McClellan will fit. McClellan was Alabama's primary starter for one year after returning in 2022 from a torn ACL. He ran for 890 yards on 180 carries with eight touchdowns this past season. McClellan, who's only 21, isn't flashy, but Atlanta has been taking upside and translatable physical attributes over flash this entire draft.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Kept calling the NFL at 800-635-5300 to complain about the refs.
Round 6, Pick 187 - Casey Washington, WR, Illinois: NFL: A strong pro day helped solidify Washington as a draft pick. He looks like a solid, reliable possession receiver with natural route-running skills, but he's not special at any one thing.
CBS Sports: C. Good sized outside WR who plays with a throwback style. Jump balls, back-shoulders, etc. are his speciality. Good speed for his size too. Just doesn’t have the bend or suddenness to separate consistently.
ESPN: Depth at wide receiver was absolutely a need going into the draft, though it's still surprising the Falcons won't pick a cornerback until their final pick, if at all. Washington was sixth in the Big Ten in receiving yards during conference games (589) and finished his career with Illinois very strong -- 218 yards on nine receptions and three touchdowns against Northwestern back in November. Washington is 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds, and Atlanta did need size at the position. He'll be tied for the second tallest wide receiver on the roster after top wideout Drake London (6-4).
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Taught his goldfish to play fetch. Not the most exciting game but they’re happy.
Round 6, Pick 197 - Zion Logue, DT, Georgia: NFL: Logue was a flash player for the two-time champion Bulldogs, often stuck behind a ton of talent in Athens. His length is outstanding, even if his production (1.5 sacks in 50-plus college games) isn't.
CBS Sports: C+. Big, long, thick SEC-tested DL with some above-average burst for his size and a pass-rush move every so often. Production never matched his size or athleticism.
ESPN: This draft, after all the controversy in the first round, was all about front-seven versatility and depth for the Falcons. Logue is a big body at 6-foot-6 and 314 pounds. And the team's fifth front-seven selection of the week. Atlanta has put a premium on length with its defenders so far and Logue has that to go along with his massive frame. The Tennessee native only started one year at Georgia, so he's relatively inexperienced with potential upside the Falcons are once again banking on.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Can eat twenty scones in a single sitting.

2024.05.13 23:45 g835 Inducing overscan compensation to center the HUD.
I recently came across this video of
chazm on pc with a centered HUD (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLYQLkVt-XM&t=34s ). I was confused at how this could be possible on PC, as the option to adjust for oveunderscan only exists on console, but after a bit of googling I found out that in order to do it you have to add a few lines to the file
Settings_v0.ini in
Documents\Overwatch\Settings\ .
Now, as the video and some reddit posts describing how to do it were created recently (within the past year) and the video was recorded after the ball rework, I thought it would be as simple as putting the lines into the config file and that would be all. After various attempts at doing that ranging from adjusting the formatting to copy-pasting to manually typing to changing other lines to see if that did anything, I came to the conclusion that my Overwatch 2 installation was not reading the file for some reason, so I deleted everything Overwatch, Blizzard, and battle.net related and reinstalled Overwatch using the battle.net client instead of Steam to see if that would fix it.
To my surprise, when installing Overwatch 2 via
battle.net, launching it, and changing / applying some graphics settings, the config file simply didn't appear. I tried restarting the game multiple times, I even played a couple games of QP, but nope! the file nor the directory containing the file ever showed up.
The next step was to manually create a copy of the directory and file to see if it would even read the file when present, and it unsurprisingly did not.
I then removed everything related to OW and Blizz and installed the game via Steam again, and once again, the config file and directory were not created, and everything tried previously didn't work either.
I have done pretty much everything that I can short of DM-ing chazm or manually decrypting OW's files (which is probably against TOS and I don't think that it would be feasible anyways), so here I am asking for help to solve this issue, as I believe that I and several others would appreciate knowing how to do this as it does help massively being able to see details on your HUD more easily during gameplay without having to move your eyes as far, especially people who play in 21:9.
Here are links to posts that mention the config file solution :

2024.05.13 23:29 taylorwmj Mounting Community/Biamp DS8 to Deck Joists
Anybody have experience mounting these guys? Design seems to be a bit lacking here vs what we're seeing at the replacement to this guy, the Biamp DS-X8, which has a much nicer mount and weather-sealing.
Needing to mount them under a main level deck (which is uncovered) for the area below on the joists but hardware documentation as well as guidance on weatherproofing the speaker wire coming out of the Infi-a-ball bracket seems lacking.
Page 3 and
Page 6 show the best diagrams of the mount.
Speakers would be mounted to joists but I'm concerned about: 1) What specific hardware I should be using to mount the IAB 2) ingress of water into the mount as it comes into contact with the joist 3) placement of speaker wire out, presumably through to the backside of the joist.

2024.05.13 23:00 EJC28 Jaguars 2024 Draft Analysis Compilation
Round 1, Pick 23 - Brian Thomas Jr., WR, LSU: NFL: After the departure of Calvin Ridley in free agency, the Jaguars were determined to find a physical, fast receiver who could give them a vertical element in the pass game. They found it in Thomas, a stud who found the end zone 17 times last season for LSU. This is a big addition for Trevor Lawrence and Co.
CBS Sports: B+. This is a heck of a move for a team that needs another young weapon. He can fly and his best football is in front of him. Watch out for their offense in 2024.
ESPN: Thomas is one of the biggest (6-foot-3, 209 pounds) and fastest receivers in the draft (4.33 40-yard dash at the combine). His production in the SEC was elite in 2023: 17.3 yards per catch, 17 TD catches. He gives the Jaguars something they haven't had since Allen Robinson II (2014-17): Someone who can go up and get 50-50 balls and provide a big red-zone target. The Jaguars threw few end-zone fade routes the past several seasons, but that should change with Thomas, who had 10 TD catches on go or fade routes last season, the second-most in FBS to Rome Odunze.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Enjoys the Browns, Texans, and Vikings and this pick had it all.
Round 2, Pick 48 - Maason Smith, DT, LSU: NFL: When I spoke to Smith last week, he made sure to highlight his workout with the Jaguars -- his final team visit -- as clearly his best. The Jags agreed. Smith has first-round tools but has been beset by injuries and a rotating cast of defensive coaches at LSU. His production is lacking, but his potential is downright exciting. If they're patient, the Jaguars might have something here.
CBS Sports: B-. Highly touted recruit who dealt with injuries and never quite met hype in college. Tall, sleek interior player who flashes that big-recruit talent at times just not ultra consistent. Won’t be limited athletically in the NFL. Rushes get far too high, which saps his power. Nice arm over but really his only move. Fills a need.
ESPN: The Jaguars needed to bolster their run defense, which faded down the stretch in 2023, and get younger on the defensive line. The 6-foot-5, 306-pounder can play inside as well as at defensive end, which gives the Jaguars some versatility along the front with Roy Robertson-Harris and DaVon Hamilton. Hamilton had a disappointing season in 2023 because of a back infection and he never reached the level he did in 2022, which earned him a contract extension. The Jaguars also released NT Folorunso Fatukasi this spring after two disappointing seasons, so adding depth along the defensive front was a priority.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: His record in the fuzzy bunny challenge is 19.
Round 3, Pick 96 - Jarrian Jones, CB, Florida State: NFL: Measuring nearly 6-feet and running a 4.38-second 40-yard dash helped Jones' cause quite a bit. He has inside and outside experience but likely will be a nickel corner in the NFL. I thought he was a Day 3 prospect because of his short arms and long injury history, but Jones has gone up against talented receivers and won some battles.
CBS Sports: B. Taller than most nickel CBs but has requisite twitch and possesses the vertical juice to carry deep routes. Change of direction is very good but just not consistent. Tends to get his pads high when trying to ID the play, which saps his quickness. Unreliable tackler. Good ball skills and destroys screens on regular basis.
ESPN: The 6-foot, 190-pound Jones lined up primarily in the slot in 2023, so that's where he'll start with the Jaguars. The Jaguars signed CB Ronald Darby in free agency to play on the outside opposite Tyson Campbell. Head coach Doug Pederson said at the owners meetings that Darnell Savage Jr., whom they also signed in March, would be playing nickel, so Jones joins the rotation there along with Antonio Johnson. Jones has good speed (he ran 4.38 in the 40 at the combine) and has played outside at FSU at times as well, but the team has confidence that Darby can be the starter.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Rolex? Bulova? Omega? Patek Philippe? This man is CASIO all the way.
Round 4, Pick 114 - Javon Foster, OT, Missouri: NFL: Foster has excellent experience at left tackle, and he looked facile at right tackle at the Senior Bowl. He's not an exceptional athlete but has good length, is patient in pass protection and can quietly get the job done. He's likely a swing tackle to start out.
CBS Sports: B+. College OT who has the frame to stay there but maybe not the overall athletic profile. Power and quick-setting skills shine. Can win ugly and importantly shows recovery skill. This is a smart investment. Just gets the job done on a routine basis.
ESPN: The Jaguars have only one offensive tackle under contract beyond this season (right Anton Harrison) so this was a position the Jaguars needed to address. Foster started 39 games at left tackle and two at right tackle at Missouri but he won't be asked to play in 2024 unless there are injuries to left tackle Cam Robinson and swing tackle Walker Little -- or the Jaguars decide to trade Robinson, in which case the 24-year-old Foster could become the swing tackle as a rookie.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Spends all day writing letters to bring back Club Penguin.
Round 4, Pick 116 - Jordan Jefferson, DT, LSU: NFL: That's the third LSU player the Jags have selected, and the fourth SEC player. Jefferson is one of three Tigers DTs in this draft class, and he is a bull-strong battler inside. However, he might have to make it as an early-down run-stopper because of his lack of pass-rush juice.
CBS Sports: D+. Classic wide-bodied DT who thrives against the run. Thick frame. Block-shedding skills are well-developed but has no pass-rush plans. Active on passing downs just rarely gets home. Length is a plus and he’s an above-average athlete for a future NT. Not a bad player just limited and this feels early.
ESPN: Jefferson is the third LSU player -- and second on defense -- the Jaguars have drafted so far. It's clear the Jaguars are mining inside linebackers coach Matt House, who spent the past two seasons as LSU's defensive coordinator. The 6-foot-4, 317-pound Jefferson -- who played three seasons at West Virginia before transferring to LSU -- showed off his upper body strength at the combine by benching 225 pounds 34 times. The Jaguars' run defense faded in the second half of the season and played a major role in a season-ending loss to Tennessee -- Derrick Henry ran for a season-high 153 yards -- and the team cut nose tackle Folorunso Fatukasi in March so an upgrade along the interior of the defensive line was a priority in the draft.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: He has suffered from Ailurophobia for as long as he can remember.
Round 5, Pick 153 - Deantre Prince, CB, Mississippi: NFL: Prince's speed gives him a chance, either as a corner or on special teams, but his lean, shorter frame could be problematic. He was a reliable contributor for the Rebels over the past several seasons.
CBS Sports: B. Outside CB with rockets attached his cleats. Can really run. Route-recognition skills must improve. High-effort type vs. the run but blockers devour him too often. Instinctive in coverage when everything is in front of him. Plays more athletically than his workout. With coaching can be solid pro.
ESPN: The Jaguars continue to add to the secondary with Prince, who lined up almost exclusively outside in college. He had six interceptions and 21 pass breakups in four seasons for the Rebels and one interception in one season at Northeast Mississippi Community College. He worked as a gunner on punt coverage as well, and his best chance to make an impact as a rookie will likely be on special teams.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Won’t eat bugles until after he’s had them on his fingers like claws.
Round 5, Pick 167 - Keilan Robinson, RB, Texas: NFL: Three straight backs off the board. The Jaguars probably needed more RB depth, and Robinson brings top-shelf speed to Jacksonville. In a crowded Texas backfield, Robinson had to scrap for every offensive touch (156 total in 45 career games) he received. His meal ticket likely will be as a gadget-play specialist or gunner or jammer on special teams.
CBS Sports: C-. Played behind two studs at Texas but made the most of his minimal attempts. Has breakaway speed in a smaller frame. Not a very decisive runner who can win with his vision alone. Not ultra twitchy and elusive. Has some return ability. But this is too early for a developmental type.
ESPN: Robinson started his college career at Alabama and finished at Texans. He ran for 796 yards and eight touchdowns, but he has more value as a kick returner. He averaged 23.6 yards per kickoff return on 39 returns in his career. The Jaguars signed receivereturner Devin Duvernay to replace Jamal Agnew, but the new kickoff rule makes returners more valuable and teams may opt to put two returners on the field at the same time. He also covered kicks at Texas so this is a special teams pick for the Jaguars.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: The only thing worse than being drafted here is having to know TheFencingCoach.
Round 6, Pick 212 - Cam Little, K, Arkansas: NFL: Our third kicker in a short span here. Little arguably has the best leg talent of the three and can hit all the way out to the 60-plus-yard range. But his inconsistencies (including at the combine) could make him a bit untrustworthy if he struggles in late-game situations.
CBS Sports: B-. Three years of 80-plus percent make rate on field goals in the SEC.
ESPN: Little is the most accurate kicker in Arkansas history, making 82.8% of his attempts (53 of 64) in his three-year career. He also never missed a PAT (129 for 129). He'll be the third kicker on the roster, joining Joey Slye and Riley Patterson, who kicked the game-winning field goal in the Jaguars' 31-30 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers in a wild card playoff game following the 2022 regular season. The Jaguars had agreed to terms with Denver kicker Wil Lutz in free agency but Lutz decided to return to the Broncos, so Little would likely be the favorite to win the competition with Slye and Patterson.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: He is excited to find out where the 36th NFL team is located.
Round 7, Pick 236 - Myles Cole, DE, Texas Tech: NFL: Finding the right technique for Cole will be key, as he lacks the bulk to handle full-time interior duty, but his unusual traits (especially his length) make him a fun Round 7 dice roll.
CBS Sports: B. Absolutely enormous, freaky long EDGE. Moves well for his size but wasn’t overly productive in college. Has hand work but too often blocks stick to him. Does not deploy his length as an advantage. Has to add that to his arsenal.
ESPN: Cole's measurables at the combine were impressive: 36 7/8-inch arms (longest of any player) and a 7-foot-3 wingspan. He also ran a 4.67-second 40-yard dash, which is impressive for a 6-foot-6, 278-pounder. But his college production wasn't as impressive, with five sacks in six seasons (four years at Louisiana-Monroe and two at Texas Tech). He's a developmental project.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Thinks Sisko was, no IS, the best Trek captain.

2024.05.13 22:57 zadkielmodeler Recommendation for Tall/ Large dog breed or mixed breeds
**Introduction** 1)Will this be your first dog? If not, what experience do you have owning/training dogs? No I grew up with a family dog. And am a current owner of 2 rescue pibull mixes and have been caring for them for 3 years now. Training took some time but seemed to go well enough. 2)Do you have a preference for rescuing a dog vs. going through a [reputable breeder]( http://ownresponsibly.blogspot.com/2011/07/identifying-reputable-breeder.html)? I'd prefer a dog in which I am the first owner after the inital 8 weeks of being a newborn. If that means a breeder then yes. My current 2 dogs are both rescues. Some of pyschological stuff we were able sort out and heal with time, some never went away. I'd prefer a clean slate. 3)Describe your ideal dog. A very tall, large healthy dog. Intimidating in stature, but not in behavior. Basically I want a huge dog that is relatively friendly, not too difficult to train. An indooinside dog. 4)What breeds or types of dogs are you interested in and why? Great Dane, Irish Wolfhound, Mastiff, Great Pyrenese. Size/height primarily. To be honest though a dog of this kind of size regardless of breed so long as it's relatively frinedly and not too much work to train and take care of. A mutt or new(er) breed is totally fine. 5)What sorts of things would you like to train your dog to do? Sit, Stay, Off, drop the ball, Don't pull on the leash. That's about it. 6) Do you want to compete with your dog in a sport (e.g. agility, obedience, rally) or use your dog for a form of work (e.g. hunting, herding, livestock guarding)? If so, how much experience do you have with this work/sport? No sports stuff, no livestock guarding. **Care Commitments** 7) How long do you want to devote to training, playing with, or otherwise interacting with your dog each day? 2-3 hours max. I work during the day. Not remotely. When I come home, my energy is limited. I usually take my dogs for a long (45min-1.5hr) walk and then play with them maybe 1 or 2 more times in the evening. I would want a dog that's okay with that or won't drive me crazy for more play or cause problems while I am gone. 8) How long can you exercise your dog each day, on average? What sorts of exercise are you planning to give your dog regularly and does that include using a dog park? 2 hours or so, mostly going for a walk. But also some play with me. And also some play with my other dogs. My other dog was traumatized after being mauled by a rotweiller at a dog park and he is not able to function pyschologically at a dog park. So for the time being, dog parks are off the table. 9)How much regular brushing are you willing to do? Are you open to trimming hair, cleaning ears, or doing other grooming at home? If not, would you be willing to pay a professional to do it regularly? Less is more. I prefer shorter hair dogs and less grooming. I'd rather not pay a professional. Brushing a bit is fine. Some shedding is fine, I can sweep and vacuum. I don't want to have to trim. **Personal Preferences** 10)What size dog are you looking for? By height one of the biggest. By weight maybe top 20. 11) How much shedding, barking, and slobber can you handle? Some shedding is fine. Some barking is fine. Barking in response to every dog in a 1/2mile radius that is also barking at night is a no-go. Some slobber is okay. Needing a waterproof floor levels is too much. 12) How important is being able to let your dog off-leash in an unfenced area? It's nice if I can find a place. But I suppose the point of the question is more about how well they get along with strangers and other dogs off lease right? It's moderately/somehwat important. On a side note, I'd love to hear recommendations for places like this other than dog parks. **Dog Personality and Behavior** 13) Do you want a snuggly dog or one that prefers some personal space? At least somewhat snuggly. 14) Would you prefer a dog that wants to do its own thing or one that’s more eager-to-please? Unsure. I mean If I say come, I don't want the dog to respond with casual indifference. 15) How would you prefer your dog to respond to someone knocking on the door or entering your yard? How would you prefer your dog to greet strangers or visitors? Barking is fine. Some amount of friendliness. 16) Are you willing to manage a dog that is aggressive to other dogs? No 17) Are there any other behaviors you can’t deal with or want to avoid? I want a dog that I can leave inside unattended/unsupervised. E.G. dog can't rip up the couch or destroy stuff. **Lifestyle** 18) How often and how long will the dog be left alone? 8-10 hours a day, 5 days a week 19) What are the dog-related preferences of other people in the house and what will be their involvement in caring for the dog? It's just me. 20) Do you have other pets or are you planning on having other pets? What breed or type of animal are they? I have 2 other dogs. They are both oversized pitbull mixes. 65lbs and 80lbs. They both in the past have played with and enjoy playing with great danes. 21) Will the dog be interacting with children regularly? No*. But I would them to be safe to bring over to a relative's home who has children for some occaisions. 22) Do you rent or plan to rent in the future? If applicable, what breed or weight restrictions are on your current lease? I didn't know *renting* a dog was even a thing. I plan to own. 23) What city or country do you live in and are you aware of any laws banning certain breeds? I live in a Dallas Suburb in Texas, USA. I'm not aware of any specific bans. Since I am a home owner with my fenced in yard, and no HOA I'm not subject to whims and restrictions of an appartment complex 24) What is the average temperature of a typical summer and winter day where you live? Average winter day = 45F Average summer day = 99F **Additional Information and Questions** 25) Please provide any additional information you feel may be relevant. I have my own fenced in home. No HOA. 26) Feel free to ask any questions below. 1. Are there breeders who focus on large dogs of mixed breeds? 2. Are there places I can take my dogs off leash besides dog parks and backyards?

# | | Team | Δ | Comment | Record |
1 | | Dodgers | 0 | The Dodgers started off a mediocre road trip by sweeping the Marlins in dominant fashion, followed by a sleepy series against the padres. My early season prediction of the Dodgers's infield defense being the biggest issue was completely wrong. Mookie looks natural at short, and Muncy has been playing pretty darn well at 3rd. We will be using our prayers this week to pray that Shohei is going to be okay | 27-15 |
2 | | Phillies | +1 | It's tough to end the week on a walkoff loss to the Marlins and feel good, but it's hard to complain about a 4-2 stretch. Nick Castellanos might finally not be the worst hitter in baseball after he says he started treating hitting like glorified batting practice again. Ranger Suarez has arguably been the best pitcher in baseball, pitching to a 1.5 ERA and an astounding 0.72 WHIP with team wins in each of his starts. Somehow this performance isn't even all that surprising for a guy with a 4.18 ERA last year. He was this dominant in a half season between the bullpen and rotation in 2021 and has a career 1.62 ERA in 7 postseason starts and 2 relief appearances. This week: another weird scheduling quirk as they play a 4 game set against the Mets with the first two at Citi Field and the next two in Philly before the Nats come to town for a 3 game series. | 28-13 |
3 | | Orioles | -1 | I was hoping the Orioles would go 5-1 this week but they went 4-2. Still nothing to be super upset about. I think the main concerns right now are Mullins is hitting under .200 and Santander still not hitting the way he can. Yesterdays game was just not great so hopefully it was just a one-off and can be flushed and they move on. Blue Jays and Mariners are in town this week so it doesn't get any easier. | 26-13 |
4 | | Yankees | 0 | Our pitching is so good right now. Anyone in the rotation could pull a Glasnow and write their number on a ball for a cute girl, and she’d call. Doesn’t even have to have their name. She doesn’t care if its’s Nestor Cortes or Clarke Schmidt. Yankees starter? She’s calling, and she’s shaving her legs beforehand. If we signed Pete Davidson for some spot starts there'd be a second baby boom. By the way, my nickname for Clarke Schmidt used to be Farte Schidt. He has very much made me eat my aforementioned schidt this year, and officially has the second-best starter ERA behind Luis Gil, as we all predicted. In other news, Judge and Stanton both have their pop at once, Soto is doing what Soto does, and Verdugo is playing sneaky good right now. We also officially took the season series against Houston 6-1, which feels GREAT. If only they were a playoff team so we could finally bounce them this year. Oh well. A Yankees-A’s ALCS it is. | 27-15 |
5 | | Braves | 0 | The walk off loss hurts, but can't be too upset with a 4-1 bounce back week! Big time perfromance from our SP. Giving up only 4 ERs in 23.2 IP (1.52 ERA) in these 5 games. Our bats are not what we have come to expect, but that can't last much longer. Signs of life from Acuña and Olson and continued performance by Ozuna. If by the end of May we don't see massive improvement to our offensive numbers, I will be surprised. Until then, buckle up because the offense is coming. | 24-13 |
6 | | Twins | +3 | Another great week, Sausage be praised! We took series from the Blue Jays and Mariners with both blowouts and well-pitched close games. I think it's safe to say that the team has found its groove, and this is how the Twins can be expected to perform moving forward. The only blip has been that the bullpen is having a slight slump, but that will even out shortly. | 24-16 |
7 | | Brewers | 0 | Paul Who? The only starting pitcher debut I care about is BOBBY GAS who threw 6 innings of 2 hit, 0 run ball in a win against the Cardinals. He fills a much needed spot in the Brewers rotation, and likely would have been up sooner if not for an injury of his own. Rhys Hoskins also had a monster week, racking up 3 HR and 9 RBI in hist last 5 games. I had my doubts this young lineup and shaky rotation actually could be a contending ballclub over 162 games, but I'm not going to argue with the results. | 24-16 |
8 | | Guardians | -2 | Another bad week. The Guardians had rough series against the Tigers and the mighty World Champion favorite White Sox. This coming week, we play the reigning World Series champs and the hottest team in our division. I'm not worried. Not at all. | 25-16 |
9 | | Cubs | -1 | The Cubs went 3-3 this week in what felt like a complete microcosm of their season. While they did get Justin Steele, Cody Bellinger, and Seiya Suzuki back from injury, they lost Dansby Swanson and Yency Almonte, who had been a rare reliable bullpen arm. Christopher Morel also had a scare after tweaking his knee sliding into sexond, but fortunately is alright. Otherwise, the offense remained inconsistent, the starting pitching was outstanding, and the bullpen was abysmal at worst and heart-stopping at best. While he didn't continue his usual dominance against them, Ian Happ extended his streak of 62 consecutive games reaching base vs the Pirates. This week, the Cubs travel to Atlanta to take on the Braves before hosting the Pirates for 4 games. | 24-17 |
10 | | Royals | +2 | The Royals have a chance to be in first place by themselves this late in the season for the first time since 2016. It feels like a lifetime ago. Yes, it is just seven weeks into the season but hopes are usually gone by this point. Maybe this year can be different. | 25-17 |
11 | | Mariners | 0 | Apologies for any typos, doing this from mobile is miserable. Not the best week, but given the pitching hiccups I can't complain too much. Woo is back (and hopefully staying back, him getting pulled was a bit of a scare.) The next few series are another gauntlet, and if the M's can make it through playing relatively well they'll be in a good positon to take advantage of their schedule for the end of the month and early June. Up next: 3 vs. Roy L's, 3 @ Oreo L's | 22-19 |
12 | | Padres | +2 | The San Diego Madres beat LA on both día de las Madres (friday) as well as Mother’s Day, wherein both we got great pitching performances from King and Darvish respectively. Arraez capped off the walk-off win on friday, and it was nice to see Bogaerts get one deep on Sunday. So far in ‘24 the Padres haven’t lost a series to the Dodgers, whether in LA, San Diego, or South Korea. It’s a bit cathartic, though I do wish there was less blue in the stands this weekend though. Really interested to see how they come out against the rocks, as SD was only able to split the 4-game series earlier in the season. This one lines up between the series’s vs LA and ATL, it could be a bit of a trap, hoping the Pads continue their series winning streak (which is now at 4) and just take care of business. | 22-21 |
13 | | Rangers | -3 | The baseball gods are unforgiving. Sacrfices have to be made and will continue to be made to the baseball gods. Oh dear baseball gods please forgive our hubris for thinking the baseball suffering was over. It was not but also, flags fly forever. | 22-20 |
14 | | Red Sox | -1 | The Sox have not been having a good May. Losing Casas has been brutal, and the expected bump in performance from Vaughn Grissom at 2nd hasn't happened (well, at least not yet). As a team we have a decent looking triple slash, but situationally they've been horrible. In high leverage PAs, the Sox are hitting .195/.264/.272 in 247 PAs. We have loads of talent, but there's always some issue whether it be defense or clutch hitting that holds us back from being truly competitive. | 21-19 |
15 | | Tigers | 0 | The City Connects... phew phew phew. Looks like we got tire tracks laid on us after a truck ran us over. No thanks. I hate it... and that's not even mentioning the dumb hat. In terms of actual baseball, though, Tarik Skubal is still Skuballing. This week: 3 vs. MIA, 3 at ARI. | 20-20 |
16 | | Rays | 0 | It was a .500 week for the Rays, and the good news is things are looking better, but only like maybe? Randy and Yandy seem to be coming back a bit; glancing at the lineup's batting avg in the game threads isn't painful anymore. Ben Rortvedt is over .300 in the catcher position which is unheard of for this team. The bad news is pitching is only bouncing back from abysmal to below average. A week against division opponents on the road will test if that improvement is here to stay or if it was just a new uniform bounce. | 20-21 |
17 | | D-Backs | +3 | The Diamondbacks have been winning more games of late but are still underperforming their Pythagorean record and are 3 games below .500 despite a +17 run differential. Reinforcements should be coming back from injury soon which should help. | 19-22 |
18 | | Mets | -1 | I prewrote a big and extremely negative blurb about the Mets getting swept by the Braves. That did not happen, Brandon Nimmo hit a walk off homer on Sunday Night Baseball immediately as I was about to close my computer. Never been so glad to be wrong. Bring on the Phillies and Marlins. | 19-20 |
19 | | Nationals | 0 | Two large accomplishments for the Nats in the last week - 1) For the first time since 2021, the Nats climbed over .500 with an opening win over the Orioles in a 2-game series. 2) Patrick Corbin recorded a win this week vs the Red Sox (his first since 9/11/23 vs the Pirates). The Nationals quickly slid back under .500 losing the 2nd game vs the Orioles and then 2 of 3 against the Red Sox. James Wood is hitting everything in AAA (over 1.000 OPS) so there are lots of calls for HRCHU. | 19-20 |
20 | | Blue Jays | +1 | Very up and down week for the Cyrulean Winged Creatures of Ontario. A 1-1 split with Philly and a 1-2 tilt vs Minnesota extended a too-long stretch of not winning series. Turns out, the combination of bad offense and a bad bullpen is bad. But there have been some glimpses of hope, at least. Alek Manoah threw a gem on Sunday, giving up 0 ER and 1 BB over 7 IP with 6 Ks. Also, Vladdy is hot as shit right now; since the last week of March, he's been hitting over .400 with a nearly 1.000 OPS. Still, the Jays in general continue to underperform and hover just below .500. Mid-May is not the time to freak out and this team is in too deep to consider a full tear-down even in a lost year, but things will be getting worrisome if they can't pull out of this middling stretch that has defined the first quarter of the season. | 18-22 |
21 | | Giants | +4 | Believe it or not, the Giants had a winning week. They continue their flirtation with being a decent team. However, we would like the world to know about several issues | 19-23 |
22 | | Athletics | 0 | Happy Mother's Day, say hi or I'll drop by. Rough week, our bullpen had some awful games esp w/ Kotsay's choices. Will possibly fall below the Astros this week as we play them along with the Royals, and unlike last year I don't think we're a better team than KC. Toro and Harris have been playing well with Soderstrom getting some reps in (A+ defense from them), but Gelof will likely return and change something there. | 19-23 |
23 | | Reds | -5 | What is the meaning of suffering? This question has stumped philosophers throughout the ages, but nobody has come up with an answer. On the opposite side of this, we have also been in search of evidence of the divine, and we’ve searched for it in things like the miracle of our world. But again, we haven’t found anything. What if we’re looking in the wrong place? What if suffering is the greatest proof of a divine presence? Suffering is an art. Perhaps the greatest art ever devised. Devised by who or what though? Some greater power looming over us all? Some great cosmic being who looks upon us the same way as we do ants? Some primordial consciousness created trillions of years ago in the Big Bang that’s been merely existing all this time and only gets enjoyment out of the suffering of others? How do we figure this out? Who do we ask? I have a suggestion, we can ask baseball fans. We are connoisseurs of suffering. Ask an A’s fan about the meaning of suffering and you’ll get your answer just by looking into their eyes. Ask a Rockies fan, or a White Sox fan, or even a long dead Expos fan. It’s weeks like this that make me ask why do people even like baseball. Why do I even like baseball? Well, I remember my grandfather, since I live in the midwest we always called him Papaw, and he was the biggest baseball nut I know. He got me into baseball at a young age, and I remember one day asking why he loved it so much. When I say he was a baseball nut, I mean he was a season ticket holder, bought all the merchandise, had books about baseball and biographies written by baseball players, he had all of it. He could tell you everything about the sport with ease. So I asked him why did he love baseball so much because at that time I found it boring, and you know I still to this day remember his response. He told me baseball is 3 hours of nothing happening, but when something did happen, it was the most beautiful sport god ever created. I loved that man. Anyway this is all a long way to say the Reds suck ass right now. | 17-23 |
24 | | Astros | 0 | Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there, especially yours. I'll visit her later, don't worry. The Astros continue to take 1 step forward and 3 steps back. Kyle Tucker is the man and we should extend him immediately. Our pitching is still mostly trash and no one deserves an extension. | 15-25 |
25 | | Pirates | -2 | Paul Skenes made his highly-anticipated debut on Saturday, and it was one of two games the Pirates won last week. And they only won that game after first blowing a 6-1 lead thanks to 6 (SIX!) walks with the bases loaded. At one point. Kyle Nicolas threw 12 straight balls with the bases loaded. The bullpen was so depleted that Nicolas had to pitch the next day after Aroldis Chapman gave up 2 runs and 2 walks in the 10th inning, only for Nicolas to give up another run on a wild pitch. The Pirates then hit a 2-run homer in the bottom of the inning and lost 5-4. So yeah, that's how things are going in Pittsburgh right now. | 18-23 |
26 | | Cardinals | 0 | Bro, I'm straight up not having a good time. | 16-24 |
27 | | Angels | 0 | Hot and then cold and then hot again, Jo Adell hit three homers this past week. With a wRC+ on the season now standing at 134 and a wOBA of .363, the next step for him is now maintaining a level of consistency. With a bottom-ranking farm system, his future may not ultimately be in Anaheim. The looming rebuild is going to be a long and slow process and at the age of 25, it is hard to see much point in keeping him if someone else starts looking his way. | 15-26 |
28 | | Rockies | +2 | We have the longest winning streak in baseball. We just swept the defending champs. I'm pretty sure that means Rocktober is coming. In all seriousness, the Rockies finally gelled for the first time this season. The Rangers didn't play poorly, the Rockies just played well. The concern now is what kind of "Coors Hangover" we'll see. | 12-28 |
29 | | White Sox | 0 | The White Sox had a shockingly good week while clinching the season series against the Rays and winning 3 of 4 from the Guardians over the weekend. They have been playing objectively better baseball lately (which means that their 72 wRC+ season stat was at 84 last week, and their pitching has been middle of the league since the start of May). It's not much, but it's something. Myself, I'm excited to attend my first ball game of the year tonight. Of course, I'll be going to the Schaumburg Boomers home opener. | 12-29 |
30 | | Marlins | -2 | So the fish still cant produce runs but at least we got burger back. Luzardo looks much better in his return to the bigs but oof braxton garrett. 2024.05.13 22:33 Leon_Steel Introduction to my fictional Shared Universe the JoeVerse.
| I want to share a overview/introduction to my fictional universe that I've been slowly building overtime. I've unfortunately fallen into eternal world building hell where I build far more than I write but at least I thoroughly enjoy it. What I mostly want from this post is to see if the wild amalgamation that is my universe is at least on a surface level "Coherent". I'll answer any questions best I can. Disclaimer: the pictures shown in the character summaries are not mine and are shown for concept art purposes. These character summaries are taken from across the JoeVerse universe. Notes: Some information is purposely left vague due to the requirement of story details and I tried to simply the explanations. It may see very unorganized but I created a continuity timeline to help keep track of the verse. I also created detailed guides for the many Stories, Races/Species, Factions, Locations and Dear God hundreds of Character profiles. Speaking of characters, I really enjoy casual power scaling of fictional characters etc, so when scaling my own universe I exclusively reference the Vs Battle Wiki Tiering system. It is undeniably superb I recommend everyone at least check it out https://vsbattles.fandom.com/wiki/Tiering_System?so=search Here is what a somewhat completed character profile would look like. https://docs.google.com/document/d/12KilbOVt5RFYg3IckKOYiLPt_UDjrBo5/edit?usp=drivesdk&ouid=111896033102767588703&rtpof=true&sd=true Lastly, I agree the name of my verse is terrible, it is a placeholder, I will also be sharing a Fun Facts towards the bottom for shits & gigs. Introduction: Welcome to the JoeVerse(Name Pending), a long time literary project that acts as both homage to what I love as well as a deep-dive into my creative mind. The JoeVerse is a fictional "Shared Universe" where a large number of characters, locations and stories created primarily by myself and in collaboration with others take place. The JoeVerse is depicted as existing within a large "Multiverse" consisting of a number of separate & distinct universes, all of which help make up the JoeVerse Multiverse. The most crucial aspect of the JoeVerse Multiverse is that it also incorporates a large number of genres from all major science fiction and fantasy concepts, such as how aliens, gods, magic, mythology, cosmic beings, parallel universes, interstellar travel and extremely advanced human-developed technology all exist prominently throughout the Multiverse. The JoeVerse primarily was created to express my love for "Action" and the many forms it comes in. For example the many pieces of media entertainment I consumed as a child. e.g Cartoons, Comics, Anime, Books, Video Games, Martial arts, Music, Movies, etc) all strongly and directly influenced the creation of the JoeVerse. The JoeVerse's many stories primarily focus on the aspects I like about these pieces of entertainment such as Action, Characters, Power-Scaling, Continuity, Worldbuilding and Paying Homage to these oh so cherished pieces of media. )))JoeVerse Prime: At the heart of this multiverse lies the mainstream continuity, which is known canonically as "JoeVerse Prime". JoeVerse Prime is based on a fictitious take on the real-world. For example, Earth found within the JoeVerse Prime has mostly all the features of the real one: same countries, same public personalities (politicians, movie stars, etc.), same historical events (such as World War II, the Cold War), and so on; however, it also contains many other fictional elements, such as new geographical locations, political organizations and a number of new & different historical events. Corners & Sub-Corners:(Re-read if needed) The JoeVerse Prime is divided into four separate major settings of distinct & “Broad '' genres known as "Corners". The four respective Corners are Earth, Intergalactic, the Naatherlands and the Interdimensional. All Corners house minor settings of typically more “Focused” genres & stories known as "Sub-corners". The Corners and their respective Sub-corners are liable to "Crossover" and even connect with one another. Four Corners explained: )Earth: Starting with "Earth", home to an abundance of "Action & Adventure" series featuring primarily humanity through various times in history (I.e stories can take place anywhere from Ancient times all the way to the Modern era and beyond). The majority of stories told on Earth feature subjects & characters such as war, criminals, detectives, espionage, politics, assassins, soldiers, super soldiers, spies, mutants, zombies, magic, warriors, martial artists and then some. There are also Earth's five sub-corners, starting with the "Underworld", home to the stories of "Urban Fantasy" about the supernatural & often cruel world of Vampires, Gargoyles, Lycans and much more all vying for survival and power while living just under the periphery of human civilization. The Underworld explores the supernatural civilization that has co-existed alongside humanity since ancient times. Then the second Sub-corner, the "Holy War", a myriad of stories using lore based on the many “Mythologies & Folklore” of various human cultures, these stories follow the secret, ancient, bloody war of the Celestial Church. The Celestial Church is a 2000 year old clandestine organization of holy; warriors, soldiers, mages, knights, nuns, monks and more gathered from the many religions & cultures from around the globe to be the stalwart shield & sharpened blade against the supernatural, the unending swathes of powerful demons attempting to invade Earth and the unspeakable evil entities from alternate dimensions all of which has threatened humanity since it's conception. Then the "West Coast Tales", a dramatic & grounded anthology series based in and around the West Coast of America. In every story we follow new characters in vastly different situations in life as they deal with family, drama, violence, romance, finances, sickness, coming of age, natural disasters, etc. Then, the "Virtual World", a video game-like dimension that is home to various "LitRPG" focused stories. The Virtual World is directly connected to Earth via the highly popular, full-body capsule operated VRMMO known as the T.B.G system(Name pending). The Virtual world naturally houses the concept of "Gaming" thus it converts anything that enters it into data that follows its unique laws of reality and thus it has NPCs, Boss fights, Exp, Quest, Stats, H.U.Ds, Builds, Classes, etc. Finally, the "Kaijin conflict" is the "Kaiju genre" focused storyline about the international conflict between the South Korean based Iskandar Industries with a human mutant sub-species known as the Kaijin. The Kaijin have superhuman abilities and are liable to become animalistic and go on a rampage; they also have the ability to transform into giant destructive monsters known as Kaijus. )Naatherlands: The next Corner, the "Naatherlands", a large somber dimension that is home to the land of the "Supernatural & the Macabre". With it having stories of Vampires, Lycans, Gremlins, Gargoyles, Witches & Warlocks, horrific wildlife & flora and warring factions led by barbaric warlords. There is also varying levels of industrialized magic-based technology all in the backdrop of a Victorian era-esque(Gaslamp) setting. And it's singular sub-corner the "Court of Blood", a "Political" focused series that shows the inner workings of the cunning, devious and often blood thirsty motives and actions of the royal members and leading factions of the upper echelon of the Naatherlands as they go about the cruel game of politics. )Intergalactic: Third Corner, the "Intergalactic" is the setting encompassing the vast Cosmos of which Earth is a part of. The Intergalactic is home to various "Sci-fi" stories full of aliens, robots, artificial intelligence, spacecrafts, advanced and futuristic weapons & technology, interstellar bounty hunters, psychic power wielding warriors as well as galaxy spanning empires and Interstellar warfare. Its first Sub-corner, "The War of Order & Chaos" is a "Mecha" inspired set of stories about the eternal struggle across the known universe between the immensely powerful chosen warriors of Order & Chaos known as the "Exuu'd". The Exuu’d are random individuals chosen from around the cosmos, if Chaos they are made to spread destruction, misery & death, if Order they are made to spread salvation, love & positivity. For the side of Chaos an Exuu’d can be criminals, scumbags or even prolific serial killers, for Order the Exuu’ds can be lawmen, samaritans or even average civilians. Regardless of origin the Exuu'd all fight each other for the very balance of the Cosmos. They are also gifted the powerful, sentient mechanized beings known as the Exxoms(Mechas) to assist in their endeavors. Exxoms all have unique designs, personalities and weapons & abilities. Its second Sub-corner "Aon", a "Sword and Planet" inspired storyline, planet and accompanying solar system. The Aon system is locked outside of time & reality and for unknown reasons travelers from the Intergalactic, Interdimensional and even across time get pulled into the mysterious system by an unknown force. Since being secluded by conventional time both the inhabitants & technology have progressed in a way that there are varying levels of technology. There are crude medieval swords & armor as well as lasers, bolters, throwers and other advanced energy weapons. All inhabitants of Aon regardless of age and race are magically kept in their prime age & appearance. There is also a special & powerful magic known as "Laasa", that only women can harness and use. This has led to the majority of the system being ruled or fought over by factions of women led armies and warriors. )Interdimensional: Lastly, the "Interdimensional", a catch-all term referring to the nigh-infinite Dimensions that make up the JoeVerse Prime. The Interdimensional is home to many genre blending stories of action, fantasy, science fiction and adventure all in the backdrop of numerous and radically different settings. This corner is populated by a myriad of exotic and powerful races such as the Angels of Heaven, the Demons of Hell, the reality warping Mymths, the cosmic beings known as the Balancers, the biologically altered insectoid empire known as the Urrglom, the humanoid Avian warriors known as the Harrpen, the technologically advanced bloodthirsty androids the Praeoids and much more. It's first Sub-corner the "Collegium Historia", an “informational” adventure series about an interdimensional group of like minded Scholars, Zoologist, Historians, Explorers and Warriors that work towards the detailed exploration & documentation of the untold number of dimensions and the species & culture they may hold. With the group being led by the renowned, cantankerous explorer and swordsman Scuto Magnus. Then it's second Sub-corner "The Fantastical Land of ORBIS"(Name pending), a standalone "High-fantasy" world full of adventure, danger, magic and awe. With ORBIS being an immense landmass the size of Earth. ORBIS is also full of creatures & beings such as Orcs, Elves, Dwarves, Dragons and so much more. There are also a slew of fantasy iterations of medieval humans cultures e.g Daiyomondo Empire(Feudal Japan), Gyellhaer(Viking Age Scandanavia), Kingdom of Stanum(Chivalric Knight era Europe) and the Shou Chongtu Empire(Warring States period China). JoeVerse Fun Facts: Shared Universe definition: A Shared universe is a fictional universe in which multiple independently created works are set. One or more authors may contribute works to a shared universe. The works within the universe may share characters and other story elements, with or without continuity.(For more detail please check the official Shared Universe Wikipedia. ( https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shared_universe) The concept of the “Corners & Sub-corners" are inspired by and based on the genre, character & location organization of Marvel and DC Comics. Non-Canonically, the characters Cole Xaiver, Aiden Steel and Joseph were the first JoeVerse characters ever created in that order. With each of these characters being made to embody an aspect of the aforementioned media entertainment, Cole (Western media & concepts), Aiden (Eastern (Anime) media & concepts), Joseph(a mixture of both). The JoeVerse Multiverse is strongly inspired by and to some extent based on fictional works such as, the Marvel universe from Marvel Comics, the DC universe from DC Comics, the Image Universe from Image Comics, Star Wars from George Lucas, the Halo series from Bungie, the Dragon Age series from Bioware, the Borderlands series from Gearbox Software, the Godzilla series by Toho, the Resident Evil series by Capcom, the Gears of War series by (Cliff Bleszinski) Epic Games, the Skyrim & Fallout series by Bethesda, the Call of Duty series by Activision, the Metal Gear(Big Boss) series by Hideo Kojima, One Piece by Eiichiro Oda, the Spawn series by Seth McFarlane, Dragon Ball Z by Akira Toriyama, Overgeared by Park Saenal, Solo leveling by Chugong, Sword Art Online by Reki Kawahara, Psycho Pass by Gen Ubrobochi, the Elex series by Piranha Bytes, A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones by George R.R Martin, Starship Troopers series by Paul Verhoeven, Avatar by Nickelodeon, Samurai Jack by Genndy Tartakovsky, Ben 10 by Man of action, Bakugan by TMS, Kingdom by Yasuhisa Hara, One Punch Man by One, the Nasuverse/Type-Moon universe by Type-Moon, Ready Player One by Ernest Cline, RWBY by Rooster Teeth, the Tank girl series by Deadline, the Warhammer 40k universe by Games workshop, Street Fighter from Capcom, Mortal Kombat from Midway Games, the Transformers series by Hasbro, the Gundam series by Yoshiyuki Tomino, the Matrix by the Wachowskis, James Cameron's Avatar by James Cameron, Mad Max by George Miller, Fist of the North Star by Buronson, literally all Zombie Media in general and much much more. submitted by Leon_Steel to worldbuilding [link] [comments] |

2024.05.13 21:29 GPTSportsWriter Oklahoma City Thunder VS Dallas Mavericks Prediction 2024-05-13 21:30:00-04:00
| Oklahoma City Thunder VS Dallas Mavericks Prediction 2024-05-13 21:30:00-04:00 Thunder vs. Mavericks: A Clash of Titans or a One-Sided Showdown? As the clock ticks down to the highly anticipated matchup between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Dallas Mavericks on May 13, 2024, the air is thick with anticipation, and the smell of freshly popped popcorn wafts through the arena. Fans are on the edge of their seats, not just because of the excitement of the game, but also because they can't wait to see which team's mascot will win the halftime dance-off. But let's not get distracted by furry creatures busting moves; we're here to dissect the impending basketball battle. The Odds Are Speaking, But What Language Are They Speaking? The bookmakers have spoken, and they're singing a tune that's music to the ears of Mavericks fans. DraftKings has the Dallas Mavericks at a price of 1.8, while FanDuel offers a slightly more generous 1.83. The Oklahoma City Thunder, on the other hand, are the underdogs with a price of 2.05 on DraftKings and 2.02 on FanDuel. But as any seasoned sports analyst or fortune cookie reader will tell you, the odds are just numbers—like the number of times you've regretted your team's draft picks. The Tale of the Tape: Team Stats and Player Performances The Mavericks, led by their star who's been breaking more ankles than a clumsy podiatrist, have been on a tear this season. Their offense is as smooth as a jazz solo, and their defense is tighter than the lid on a pickle jar. The Thunder, while not as flashy, have been grinding out wins with the tenacity of a toddler refusing to eat their vegetables. Player performances are key, and the Mavericks have a roster that's been lighting up the stat sheets like a Christmas tree. The Thunder, while they may not have the same star power, have a group of young guns who've been hustling like they're trying to earn their allowance. Historical Matchups and Current Season Trends In their previous encounters, the Mavericks and Thunder have traded blows like two old friends arguing over the last slice of pizza. However, this season, the Mavericks have been the ones leaving with the cheesy prize more often than not. They've been riding a wave of momentum that's been as unstoppable as a toddler on a sugar rush. The Thunder, while they've had their moments, have been as inconsistent as Wi-Fi on a budget airline. They've shown flashes of brilliance, but they've also had moments where they've looked more lost than a tourist without a map. Weather Conditions: Because Why Not? Now, you might be thinking, "What do weather conditions have to do with an indoor basketball game?" And to that, I say, "Have you ever tried to play basketball in a thunderstorm?" But in all seriousness, the only storms we'll be seeing are the ones the Thunder hope to bring to the Mavericks' parade. The Prediction: Who Will Reign Supreme? After careful analysis, and considering the odds, team statistics, player performances, historical matchups, and current season trends (and ignoring the weather because, well, it's indoors), the prediction is in. Drumroll, please... The Dallas Mavericks will emerge victorious in this clash of titans. They've got the stats, the swagger, and the odds in their favor. The Thunder may put up a fight, but in the end, they'll be like a paper airplane in a hurricane—valiant effort, but ultimately futile. So there you have it, folks. The Mavericks are set to lasso the Thunder and ride off into the sunset. But remember, in the world of sports, anything can happen. The ball is round, the hoops are high, and the mascots are still practicing their dance moves. And as for the halftime show, my money's on the Mavericks' mascot. After all, who can resist a horse doing the moonwalk? References: - DraftKings Odds

2024.05.13 21:18 mrsnakers I'm taking a big break from DaD. Here are my thoughts on the game's state in retrospect.
First, I'd like for us all to acknowledge how, uhhh, for lack of a better term toxic this game and community has become. In doing so, it's probably best for our own souls to simply acknowledge that we ourselves behave more toxically in this game than perhaps other multiplayer games. I know I personally do not get into heated arguments / name call / and 'git gud' other players in other games nearly as much as this one.
Often I've thought it's simply because I just care about this game so much or that it's simply a reaction to other players who really are toxic unlike me.
But let's be honest with ourselves - it's all of us.
However, it's not entirely our fault.
-- Here are my observations upon taking a break and going back to some old school games in the same genre (specifically, I've started playing Ultima Online again - which SDF emphatically told Terry is his primary inspiration for this game). --
When I first launched this game, like many of you - I expected something akin to a Dungeon and Dragons dive into the unknown. RNG was expected and yet, skill / knowledge should allow us to overcome some of that RNG and make the game work in our favor - at least for replayability's sake.
At first, that is how the game felt. Most players - like myself - had no clue what we were doing and were experimenting. The mobs felt scary, the minibosses near impossible, and extracting was a miracle that gave us a relief and a dopamine rush that made it all the stress feel worth it.
But as expected with practically everything in life once the mechanics are better understood, the mystery starts to wear thin. The same thing happens at a job, with political ideologies, hell the same thing happens when you get a partner. And this game is just a series of systems, so it's no exception to that rule. I fully expected some of the mystery to wear off, I fully expected to feel familiar with it after a certain point. What I didn't expect, was for the game to start feeling like a game of Counter-Strike where I am up against people with certain perks / aspects that make it feel akin to playing in a lobby where some people have hacks enabled and sometimes those players are me and my squad. (And certainly there are actual hackers no doubt, but I am not talking about that specifically. I am talking about how this game currently feels when everyone is "playing it correctly".)
Map knowledge, min-maxxing gear, perk and skill selection, comp selection are at an all time high right now (which again, was to be expected) but simultaneously - the end game content seems to simply be PvP, PvP, then when you're done and PvP some more.
This is where the game starts to feel like a CS lobby filled with hackers. This is where the frustration starts to build, and where I see a possible culprit as to why it's some common for people to be hardcore venting while being met with various "git guds" on this subreddit, discord, or simply being toxic dirtbags in VOIP. We didn't sign up for this kind of end-game but dammit if we didn't get addicted to it before it devolved and now - we're angry. We feel like we've lost something, but we can't stop trying to find it again.
The Dev's also feel like they've lost something and are trying to "find it again". They want to find balance, they want to maintain a healthy relationship with their player base, they want to compete with other games of a similar genre while maintaining their unique inspiration from late 90's hardcore fantasy games and DnD. In trying to search for this missing thing the devs have been twisting knobs back and forth in PvP balance for about a year now.
This is why it feels like we're being driven around by the devs in circles as we scream "take a left" and "No! Take a right!" and the devs seem to listen - we are all desperate to get back to that place where the game first captivated us and the mystery was strong.
How could such a feeling have been maintained, at least for longer? And how could the feeling of having lost it been staved off?
The simple answer (but truly complex if we're being honest) is this: The foundations of this game are not strong. The concept is strong but the foundation feels rushed to produce a playable version, rather than a quality vision.
One of those foundational issues is the modules, the zone / swarm, and maps themselves. The modules were advertised - some time ago - as being Dynamic. Meaning, each time you open a door to a new module you would not know what module you'll enter nor what creatures / loot may be hidden within nor how that module might connect with other modules.
I would argue that had Dynamic Modules been fully invested in and implemented from the start, the mystery could have been maintained for longer and the PvP "end game" might have been staved off in it's full edifice that has been erected today. Perhaps then even juiced players would have to deal with the RNG of the dungeon and callouts of "rotate" or "go on flank" would more often be supplemented with "fall back and regroup".
Also to blame is the swarm, forcing players to clear or avoid modules as fast as possible to avoid being left behind, and thus run into each other and forced to PvP.
I will also posit that the 'simple' mechanics of melee / ranged combat and the simplicity of movement and lack of meaningful evasion mechanics has been a failure in the foundational structure of this game. Had these areas been more 'cooked' then perhaps the game wouldn't be nearly as punishing - unfairly so - when one player simply out gears another or one squad simply rushes down another due to their comp. These very basic mechanics also mean that cheesing AI isn't just "the easy way to get through hell" but actually a preferred method in many occasions simply because once you get off rhythm, your ducking and mashing A vs D gets thrown off and you start to eat hits. It's not fun to dance around a Beserker and widdle him down and it isn't much more skillful than "I stood on a veiny Hell bloodclut and hit him in the head until he died".
This also affects compositions and how one team pushes into another. Half of the Trios gameplay is simply "Does their composition benefit from entering a doorway or holding it?" - what the fuck is that?
The simplicity of mechanics has also necessitated a simplicity of AI as an answer - if AI could climb, open doors, and properly scare the shit out of you - yet all you have to deal with them are these undercooked melee mechanics - you would get roasted by a basic Axe skeleton much more often than anyone would like to admit.
And yet, the lack of meaningful AI and mechanics means moving from module to module consists of opening a door, running past, and shutting it behind you. This might be good for when you're evading a buff ball team, but it also the same system that is enabling that team to begin with.
So here we are - the lack of dynamics modules and undercooked movement / melee mechanics has meant that the Devs have focused nearly entirely on balancing PvP rather than a core game-play loop. Entire systems and entire wipes have been devoted to "balancing" and creating QoL for these systems. Because if someone has better gear than you - they basically win - then gear needs to be stronger for beginners and thus a Squire and thus a Quest system and thus a Marketplace where the mystery and allure of items goes to absolutely die as everything in the game is accessible through gold. No longer does finding a piece of gear in the dungeon that fits your character hit in any meaningful way.
This is not a Dungeon Diver any longer. It will continue to bleed players, and new players who try it thinking "I like hardcore games, I like DnD, I like loot" will quickly turn it off once they realize it's just a shitty version of Counter-Strike but half of the lobby has speed hacks and extra damage and you do not.
Previously, I was for a Marketplace. Previously, I was all for GBMM. Previously, I thought I would one day be "good enough" to rock BiS because I will have mastered many difficult systems. Now it's just a matter of "do I feel like running BiS right now or not" - everything is so accessible that it has lost meaning and feeling and simply is a RNG of how geared the other team is on the map.
Now I'm more for self-found only gear, removal of marketplace, removing of GBMM, skill trees > Multiclassing - and I'd go so far as to say I think they need to turn this game off for a few months, put everything on a test server, and go back to fixing the foundation then relaunch it.
SKILL STILL EXISTS and I will never deny that - but it could exist in a more meaningful way with better foundational systems that do not force the entire game to devolve into PvP hit trading and door play.
TL;DR
The game's foundational systems are rocky and have turned this game into a PvP fest. The lack of Dynamic modules means the best compositions with the best items with better map knowledge will simply rush through and win. The fact that players often have better loot than half of the modules means that PvP is always the best bang for your buck. These incongruent foundations have devolved this game into a crappy version of Counter-Strike where half of the lobby has better damage / movespeed than you do. The melee / range and lack of meaningful evasion tools mean gear check will always be king and makes aforementioned "counterstrike feeling" feel ever worse. And yet, the devs - unable or unwilling or are simply blind to it - have instead been balancing the entire game around "PvP" for almost an entire year - taking up resources and time - because it's the one faucet of the game everyone agrees is causing issues. And yet, nothing has been done to prevent PvP engagement after PvP engagement from becoming the only real end-game content.
All of these foundational systems working incongruently are causing a fractured and toxic playerbase because we didn't sign up for a PvP fest, we signed up for a Dungeon Diving experience with a small squad.
I'll be playing Ultima Online Outlands in the meantime. I might check back on this game after sometime. I made a lot of cool friends and really enjoyed playing with some of you. My in game alias's were ThrustinTheseHips / Dolphin Lover - if you had a good time playing with or against me I will always cherish it! But boys, please take care of your mental health. This game can take a toll - no lies.

2024.05.13 20:43 oldstrawberryfields hack needs to last like 10-12 seconds and it would buff tanks especially ball.
right now balls biggest issue is that he gets hacked on CD so he can’t effectively get hacked->survive because the second he’s healthy and engages again he will get hacked again bc it’s gonna be off cooldown.
i’m talking about hack duration as a whole not the ability lockout aspect. that should remain the same.
there’s only two things that would buff sombra in this scenario-> she’d be able to see ball through walls during this and her virus would trigger the fast dot on him. however keep it mind that the damage of virus alone is pretty laughable on tanks, and that sometimes its more powerful to virus without hack because the dps passive will keep procing for a longer time.
this would make sombra have to think about when to hack ball instead of just holding m2. it would also help sombra set up different plans vs squishies, actually getting use out of wallhacks and being able to hack, disengage and then engage with virus again
