| [ Finding the Best Online Casino Platforms ] The world of online casinos offers a plethora of platforms, each promising exciting games, lucrative bonuses, and a seamless user experience. However, not all online casinos are created equal, and finding the best one can be a daunting task. This guide will walk you through the essential factors to consider when choosing an online casino platform, ensuring you have a safe, enjoyable, and rewarding gaming experience. 1. Licensing and Regulation Why It Matters Licensing and regulation are the cornerstones of a trustworthy online casino. A license from a recognized authority ensures that the casino operates legally, adheres to strict standards, and offers fair play. What to Look For - Reputable Licenses: Look for casinos licensed by reputable authorities such as the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA), the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC), or the Gibraltar Regulatory Authority.
- Visible License Information: The casino should display its license information prominently on its website, usually in the footer section.
2. Game Selection Why It Matters A diverse game library enhances your gaming experience by providing a wide range of options, from classic table games to the latest slot titles. What to Look For - Variety of Games: Ensure the platform offers a mix of slots, table games (like blackjack, roulette, and baccarat), live dealer games, and specialty games (like bingo or scratch cards).
- Top Software Providers: Casinos that partner with renowned software providers such as Microgaming, NetEnt, Playtech, and Evolution Gaming typically offer high-quality and fair games.
3. Bonuses and Promotions Why It Matters Bonuses and promotions can significantly boost your bankroll, providing more opportunities to play and win. What to Look For - Welcome Bonuses: Look for generous welcome packages that may include match bonuses, free spins, or no-deposit bonuses.
- Ongoing Promotions: Check for regular promotions like reload bonuses, cashback offers, and loyalty programs.
- Fair Terms: Ensure that the bonus terms and conditions are fair, with reasonable wagering requirements and clear instructions on how to claim and use the bonuses.
4. Payment Options Why It Matters Convenient and secure payment methods are crucial for smooth deposits and withdrawals. What to Look For - Variety of Methods: Look for casinos that offer a wide range of payment options, including credit/debit cards, e-wallets (like PayPal, Skrill, and Neteller), bank transfers, and cryptocurrencies.
- Fast Payouts: Check the withdrawal processing times. The best casinos process withdrawals quickly, ideally within 24-48 hours.
- Security Measures: Ensure the platform uses advanced encryption technology to protect your financial information.
5. Customer Support Why It Matters Reliable customer support ensures that any issues or questions you have are addressed promptly and effectively. What to Look For - Availability: Customer support should be available 24/7 through multiple channels, including live chat, email, and phone.
- Responsiveness: Test the responsiveness of the support team by asking a few questions before you commit to the platform.
- Comprehensive FAQs: A well-organized FAQ section can provide quick answers to common questions.
6. User Experience Why It Matters A user-friendly platform enhances your overall gaming experience, making it easy to navigate and play your favorite games. What to Look For - Interface and Design: The casino website should have a clean, intuitive design that’s easy to navigate.
- Mobile Compatibility: Ensure the platform is optimized for mobile devices, allowing you to play on the go.
- Loading Times: The games and pages should load quickly, providing a seamless gaming experience.
7. Reputation and Reviews Why It Matters The reputation of an online casino gives you insight into its reliability and quality of service. What to Look For - Player Reviews: Read reviews from other players to get a sense of their experiences with the casino.
- Industry Reviews: Check reviews from reputable industry websites and watchdog organizations.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Finding the best online casino platform involves careful consideration of various factors, from licensing and game selection to bonuses and customer support. By taking the time to evaluate these elements, you can ensure a safe, enjoyable, and potentially lucrative online gaming experience. 2024.05.15 15:47 loans-paradise 8 Ways How Personal Loans Can Bridge the Financial Gap
In life, it’s not uncommon to find ourselves facing financial hurdles, whether expected or unexpected. From unexpected medical bills to urgent home repairs, these situations can put a strain on our finances. But fear not! Personal Loans in Hyderabad can be a lifeline in times of need, helping you bridge the gap between your current financial situation and your goals.
~Let’s dive into how personal loans can be your financial superhero in eight different ways:~ ~1. Emergency Expenses:~ Personal loans can swoop in to rescue you when you’re hit with a sudden medical bill, car repair, or home emergency. Instead of panicking about where to find the funds, a personal loan can provide the quick cash you need to tackle the problem head-on.
~2. Consolidating Debt:~ Having a lot of debts with uneven interest rates and due dates can be exhausting.
Personal Loans in Hyderabad offer a way to consolidate your debts into one manageable monthly payment. By paying off high-interest credit cards or other loans with a lower-interest personal loan, you can streamline your finances and potentially save money on interest over time.
~3. Home Improvements:~ Whether it’s a leaky roof or a kitchen in need of an upgrade, home improvements can add value to your property but often come with a hefty price tag. Personal loans can fund these projects, allowing you to make the necessary improvements without draining your savings account. Plus, investing in your home can pay off in the long run by increasing its resale value.
~4. Education and Training:~ Investing in yourself through education or training can open doors to new opportunities and higher earning potential. However, tuition fees and course expenses can be a barrier for many. Personal loans can bridge this gap by providing the funds needed to further your education or acquire new skills, ultimately leading to a brighter financial future.
~5. Starting a Business:~ Dreaming of becoming your own boss? Launching a new business venture often requires upfront capital for everything from inventory to marketing. Personal loans can provide the financial backing needed to turn your entrepreneurial dreams into reality. With the right business plan and determination, a personal loan can be the catalyst for your success.
~6. Unexpected Life Events:~ From weddings to funerals, life’s major milestones and events can come with significant costs. Personal loans can help you cover these expenses without sacrificing the quality of the event or going into debt on high-interest credit cards. Whether you’re celebrating love or mourning a loss, a personal loan can ease the financial burden during these emotional times.
~7. Travel and Adventure:~ Wanderlust calling your name? Whether it’s a dream vacation or a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, personal loans can finance your travels without putting a strain on your savings. Exploring new destinations and experiencing different cultures can be enriching and fulfilling, and a personal loan can make it possible to embark on your next great adventure sooner rather than later.
~8. Building Credit:~ Personal loans can be a valuable tool for building credit history, especially if you have limited or no credit. By borrowing responsibly and making on-time payments, you can demonstrate your creditworthiness to lenders and improve your credit score over time, setting yourself up for future financial success.
Personal loans are versatile financial tools that can help you bridge the gap between where you are and where you want to be financially. With careful planning and consideration, a personal loan can be a powerful ally on your journey to financial freedom. Explore further by visiting our website now!

2024.05.15 14:21 Holixun Help a noob out with midnight sons roster, please and thank you.
As the title suggests, I'm a noob looking for help with my roster. I've played maybe 10 games total, maybe 4 serious games with all my tactic cards and things in place(I used to play with cards on my computer and unpainted minis, and no tactic cards, thier missions, bascially 6 nonsense ones and 4 serious proper ones), and I'm not losing by lesser margins, the people i play against include xmen (prof and cyclops) black order (corvus) spider friends (miles), cabal and they all rush ahead by about 6-8 points.
I know I need more games but blindly playing without any strategy is going to hurt me in the long run even if I do win. I understand that midnight sons are not as good as beatdown as they used to be, so they're in a odd place of being half n half.
Again, I'm a noob, this is the first and only tabletop game I actually play and I only got into it as an excuse to paint more, I'm mostly painting. Losing isn't a big deal to me but it can't be fun going against someone who's so garbago they always lose, I at least want to put up a bit of a challenge, I don't strictly need to win, but I'd like to make it fun.
So the roster is below. My "Playstyle" is round 1 grabbing objectives and then lining up for round two which is shooting and moving so they have to move and shoot. I usually lose by round 4, by having my objective holding characters obliterated, and then them speeding ahead in points.
Usually my 4 on the table are blade, ghost rider, wong and voodoo, sometimes bill gets to hitch a ride, most recently stranger joined the roster and replaced rider for one game.
I know I'm doing something, possibly everything wrong. So anything will help. Thank you all heavily in advance.

2024.05.15 13:42 gentlewindsolsol I ran a crokinole booth at a Korean children's event.
This is what I posted on the board game community in Korea, and I'm also translating and posting it on Reddit!
The translation and text inspection took a long time, but I'm posting it because I think croquinol gamers from other countries will enjoy reading it.
(I don't know how to put pictures in between when writing on Reddit. If you're curious about pictures while reading, please visit the link below. You may not understand Korean, but pictures are visual information so they can be understood universally)
https://boardlife.co.kbbs_detail.php?tb=community_post&bbs_num=26766 Not long ago in early May, I ran a croquinol booth for students and parents at a Children's Day event (it was held on the grounds of the University of Education)
The head of the school affairs department suggested, "I heard you like board games, do you want to run a booth?" so I thought very hard. Actually, it was bothersome.
In the end, I accepted because I wanted to make good memories with children as well as selling croquinol. At first, I thought it was easy to take a few croquinols and play a few rounds.
It wasn't long before I realized that the idea was very wrong. This is because there were so many things to consider operating the booth. The program should be organized in consideration of the number of users and the number of people visiting.
The arrangement of objects and the movement of people should also be considered. I shouldn't think, 'I'm done explaining the game to the students in moderation and watching them play.'
I have to think about the details. I thought about it until the day of operation and right before it started. Now that it's been decided so far, I'll have to recruit staff to run it together (this was the most difficult problem)
Finally, find out the products to give to the visiting children and purchase them, purchase notices to be installed in the booth, and other things necessary to proceed or make them
For two weeks, I spent a lot of time and energy thinking about and preparing for how to operate the booth. I thought a lot about what to give as the prize, but it was finally decided to go down
(1) Pokémon Key Chain Pokémon is definitely a successful IP!!
I decided it right away because it looked so pretty and the quality looked good. There were some that were really cheap, but the quality was really... It was a pity, so I put in more budget
(2) ritter sport chocolate It's economical because there are 200 in a pack I tried one to see if it's poisonous What????? This chocolate tastes pretty good...
(3) Crockinol Pencil (Steadler + Engrave) Originally, I didn't want to give pencils, but if I imprint them and give them to students, I thought they could remember croquinol for quite some time, so I made it meaningful.
If you look closely at the pencil, you can see the image of a disc bouncing with a finger. (○ ● ☜) I made it using the basic characters on the keyboard. Haha.)
It took a long time to think of the word 'dream tree' in the engraved phrase. (Offered words: rookie, genius, child, master, king, god, etc.) Since there are no other people to help me, I planned and produced a lot of things by myself.... lol
I recruited the operating personnel as follows
Head of the school affairs department -> Recruit me (one-person planner and business manager): Let's compare and analyze croquinol sales and rest at home and then experience it. Decided
Me-> First cast (S teacher): A versatile teacher who has been in the next class since we met in the 6th grade this year He became interested after being introduced to Crockinol by me. Enjoying Crockinol at home with his wife. Canadian style. (He said he was doing it without giving it away.) After receiving a proposal from me, "I'll do all the preparations, so please come and let the children know the games without any burden," he decided to participate after much consideration. I'm playing with my kids in the classroom, and my croquinol skills are increasing rapidly. I'm planning to promote the entire 6th grade croquinol competition later.
Second cast (Teacher C): My younger brother who met as a manager and a staff member at my last school and became very close. The same person who said in an old article that he helped move the classroom!
Together, we played about 400 rounds of croquinol 1:1 match. He made a lot of mistakes in his early days, but after hundreds of editions, he became enlightened at some point. He has become quite a master.
His powerful shots made a lot of crazy scenes. Among them, he sent five discs of his opponent to a ditch at the same time. When he was asked by me to help him, he accepted without hesitation. (He is expected to participate in the next event.)
Third cast (Teacher K): I am a teacher from another region, and I am close to him because I got to know him in a club. She was the last to be recruited, and she suggested liter port chocolate and keychain among the product ideas. Pencils were also highly recommended when I was thinking about it.
Lastly, he volunteered after seeing me thinking about recruiting one more person.
She's the only teacher who doesn't have a croquinol, and she doesn't usually have a chance to train, so she's still a beginner's skill.
Rather, a person who is expected to revitalize the booth operation because of that. (If teachers do too well, all students lose.) For the record, she has a board gamer gene that can also play Arcnova board games.
※ In addition, there is a sad history of rejection and subtly falling over during the recruitment process.
And I started setting it up on the day!! Visit early with teacher C and install one croquinol on three tables in the tent
At first, I was worried because the table was in the shape of a rectangle, but I could put things here and there. If you put the croquinol at an angle on the table, it was possible to conduct a 2:2 team, so there was no problem.
After I finished setting up, I sat down for a bit and tried a croquinol test. Played without any problems. The shot was even better because I told them to cut their nails, including myself.
However, there was a lot of dust on the tables and chairs provided by the company, so I hurriedly cleaned them. The remaining two operators also narrowly joined, and a total of four people were matched.
After that, I had time to start operating the booth as a whole They're here...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The name of the booth was 'Gather up here if you're confident in flicking', but I think I drew some aggro. Other places looked healthy like making animal bracelets, but our booth was like, "You! Come if you're confident!"
The booth was originally planned like this Planning the rules of the game: - If you feel uncomfortable, you can stand and shoot freely - In the case of 1:1, the original use of the 1/4 shooting line based on North America and Canada, rather than the use of the 1/2 shooting line that changed the rules in Korean company Korea Board Games. - A student who is too young is forced to shoot with a line forward. Two places are experience seats and listen to and experience the rules 1:1 or 2:2 (Parents and friends can participate together) - The experience gift is one litre pot chocolate - Rule Description -> Shot Practice -> consists of a two-game friendly
If you have learned the rules through the experience, go to the challenge seat of one place and challenge 1:1 or 2:2 (you can also participate together) - If you win, you'll get a Pokémon keychain, even if you lose, you'll get a 1/3 chance of a keychain and a 2/3 chance of a pencil through a lottery - Using one chance card, we will proceed with two sets, and if the student draws or wins even one set, it will be considered a victory. - Re-challenge possible when you line up again The booth gradually gathered and filled the corner, and the line got longer
I repeated the explanation and game so wildly!
The first episode : Even though it was in the shade of the tent, the temperature was high, so the chocolate melted. The student said it melted, so I touched it and it was liquid! Unfortunately, we can't give these defective products to students, so we decided to go to the challenge seat without giving them away in the experience seat.
The second episode : Our classmates are here! I heard a voice saying, "Teacher!" and I can see the 6th grade girls in my class
Of course, we played the game. I tried to lose, but I thought that if I lost too much, the student would notice, so I made mistakes from time to time, but these guys made more mistakes!
It ended with me winning or drawing (I should have made it more clear and lost... lol) I said, "This is just an experience seat, so it doesn't matter, show your real skills in the challenge seat," and sent the girl to another corner
The third episode : People were buzzing that a very famous politician visited the booth next door. (He was Korea's presidential candidate.) I looked up and saw the face that I saw on screen Although I was curious, I had my day job as a board gamer, so I welcomed students and focused on explaining the rules. Later, I found out that he talked to a student who experienced our booth and passed by
The 4th episode : The booth operators were not given a separate lunch break! It was announced that they would take turns eating lunch boxes. There were quite a few people... and I barely had time to eat. One person will be in charge of one booth, and one person will take turns eating I'm the type to eat slowly while tasting the taste, but I didn't have much time to relax on this day, so I sat on the stand and came back in a hurry that I couldn't even feel the taste
The fifth episode : There are so many people, and especially in the case of the challenge seat, the waiting line is longer, so to solve the bottleneck, we decided to take both the place and challenge as an experience seat It was the same with the booth I was in. I don't know what this day is... I made more mistakes than usual and often missed shots because I was nervous dealing with children. Hahaha
The 6th episode : The operations staff at the next table said, "A kid came up with a challenge and beat me." He got the prize, of course But after that, the student was still in the viewing room and gave advice to other participating children, saying, "I win all of them," showing a lot of confidence Then the child triumphantly challenged the management staff again! He must have wanted to win again. What was the result? According to him, he showed the dignity of an adult with his skills to children Of course, he gave away a croquinol pencil this time!!
The 7th episode : I explained the rules so much that the script was automatically made "This game is a 150-year-old game of Canada known to have started in 1876.... "In Canada, it's a daily sport that many families have and play throughout their lives, from childhood to grandmothers and grandparents. The rules are simple: if you put it in here, it's 20 points, this is 15 points....." I can't remember how many times I repeated the script above! The eighth episode : There are people who waited for an hour to listen to it while organizing it I've already experienced it and moved to the challenge seat, but the challenge seat lines are too long... Did they feel like they were waiting for a long line in the amusement park... ㅠㅠ Parents were tired of waiting, so they asked to go to another booth, but the child said, "Since I've experienced it, I really want to try it. I want to take a Pokémon keychain!" and waited a lot. It must have been very boring for parents, but there was no other way. I thought the quality of the operation would be very low to just experience/challenge one game at a time 2 play experience + 2 play challenge was the minimum number of plays to feel a little croquinol
The ninth episode : After eating, I heard parents and children talking "This is where we play Alkagi(flicking). Shall we play Alkagi?" "Let's do it!"
If you had written the booth title, "Who wants to play croquinol?" no one would know croquinol, so accessibility would have been low But when the title said "Alkkagi", I was proud of him coming in without any pressure
The 10th episode : The official closing time of the booth was 4 p.m At around 3:50 p.m., I took a breath and looked at other places, and some places had already withdrawn, and I was usually cleaning up, so the atmosphere was clear But our booth is still full It lasted beyond hours Is this the power of crocinol?
The 11th episode : Time has been deleted I was worried about what if time went by during that long time of operating the booth, but it was a mistake. We were so busy explaining and playing that we didn't have time to look at the clock, and when we came to our senses, it was a time when the end was imminent. I couldn't even go to the bathroom for five hours. Because it was hectic, the operation ended without a comparative analysis of 'Are many people visiting other booths? How popular is our booth?' (When I saw the photos and videos later, I could see that our booth was more crowded than other booths.)
The 12th episode : I tried a lot to react to it in my own way. I really complimented the kid every time he hit the disc. I exaggerated a little bit like I became a YouTuber and shouted a compliment chant out loud A young girl who looked like elementary 1 or 2 sat down (around 7-8 years old) I finished explaining the rules, and asked her to practice shooting a few times. After that, we started playing the game. The girl said she would do it first, and she took the first shot of her life's first game. It went straight into the center hole. There was applause from all around. I said, "Even I couldn't put it in at first. It's amazing." Congratulations on your best experience." She's made a lot of mistakes in play since then, but it doesn't matter at all! There's nothing more touching than the first shot of 20 The parents who were nearby filmed this scene and will cherish this meaningful moment for a long time
The 13th episode : There seemed to be something interesting to see other crocinol tables also clapping, wow, oh, oh From the perspective of planning, all these reactions are a gift
The 14th episode : There were a lot of spectators while explaining/playing There were a lot of comments about the rules of the game "You have to hit the disc when it's on the surface" "Oh!" A male parent was glad to hear that he knew croquinol "I knew this game since it came out last year. It was about 110 dollars, but I didn't buy it because it was expensive." (It's more expensive now. It's about $140)
The 15th episode : We allowed a re-challenge in the 'Beat the Teacher' section, caressing the hearts of children thirsty for crocinol Some students tried again 3 times (The challenge itself takes about 1 minute and 30 seconds for the first round, 3 minutes in total, so it doesn't take much.)
The 16th episode : After 4 p.m., I looked at the other booth thinking about when to organize it, and a boy who looked like a fourth grade in the challenge seat was doing very well Her parents were also amazed by it The accuracy of each step wasn't unusual He said he came back to try it out and do it again Looking at the game, he unfortunately lost to Teacher S by 5 points when he made a mistake of 2 turns in the second half Teacher S told the student. " Try it with that teacher. He's the best While sitting down, I asked, "Do you want me to do it with all my strength or not?" I laughed and asked At first, the student said, "Please be generous!" but later changed his words to "With full strength." "Haha, okay. I'll go with all my strength!" The student said he would attack first and tried an open shot and went straight into the center hole "Wow... does this make sense?" I also chased along the disc in the center hole. That's how I tried to hit my opponent's disc in Hogan's alley and accidentally wasted three turns. The result is that the student who leads by 15 points wins... The child liked it very much and came home with a light step with his parents "Thank you for your hard work. Bye!" When I looked at the playground with the back of my family leaving after saying hello, the sun was slowly heading down, scattering light everywhere and giving the lawn a cozy view What could be a more peaceful landscape. He must have felt really good on his way home. I thought he lost well
Finish writing : When I was in college, I ran a different kind of booth when I was the president of a club, but it was the first time I ran it this way in relation to board games.
At that time, there were a lot of club members and the space was very spacious, so the event was held comfortably, but the croquinol booth was operated in a very minimal condition: 1 tent, 3 tables, 3 croquinols, and 4 people in operation
Still, it ended successfully as it exceeded the time without an accident, so considering that it is the first operation under this condition, it should be considered a great success.
The operation of this croquinol booth was planned by myself and prepared for the program, so I have a lot of attachment.
I'm grateful to the three people who ran it together (they were dispatched from each elementary school publicly and privately). As expected, people are the most important.
I'm willing to do it again if I have to participate in the booth event another month this year or if I have to run it again next year. I think we can do it in a better way than now
For example, I dream of running a mini-contest by installing more tables. There's a mini trophy, and I think the kid who got it will really like it. (Of course we need a lot more people than we do now...!)

2024.05.15 12:03 TNDmaxxer Lexar NM790 Concern
I am new to this so forgive my lack of knowledge. I want to purchase the Lexar NM790 2TB SSD, but after coming across a video on youtube I am concerned that it may be incompatible with a motherboard.
The pinned comment on this
video says:
"For anyone who's planning on putting it in a USB/thunderbolt enclosure - Do NOT. It's a DRAM-less SSD which uses HMB (host memory buffer) meaning it's using your PC's system memory for write cache and the lookup table. HMB does not work over USB and thunderbolt unless it has direct PCIe lanes assigned to the drive, and even then that's not a guarantee. Without HMB its nominal "1000TBW" (1TB model) endurance will get closer to half of that, or even worse."
I have no idea what this means and I am worried if the SSD is going to be incompatible with my
MSI B650 GAMING PLUS WIFI Motherboard ATX and my
XFX Radeon RX 7900GRE graphics card.
Is this a serious issue or does it not matter?

2024.05.15 11:04 shmalvey Thoughts on All Stars 4 Episode 7
- Brad capped off one of the all-time worst seasons by a very good player ever. With five losing groups in a row, an elimination loss to Adam (that couldn't be more tailored to Adam or be more tailored against Brad, btw), and one of the earliest exits in his career, this was the worst season in Brad's 13-season career (Final Reckoning is his only other bad season where he and Kyle lost three eliminations, but they did win two missions). When you factor in his loss to Kyland on S39, Brad is on an epic cold streak. I just hope all is well in his life.
- Some of the other worst seasons by big names (where they made it at least decently deep) — Jordan Free Agents, Alton Battle of the Seasons, Evan Rivals, Wes Fresh Meat II). I think Brad probably takes the cake, though.
- Adam continued his strong season with his first career elimination win (he was 0-1 coming in with a loss to Derrick K on Gauntlet 2). There was a nice scene with him and Ryan at the beginning of the episode where Adam was basically acknowledging he used to be a douche, and it's clear that he's come a long way. Same with Ryan and his sobriety. I'm not sure why there haven't been more little conversations like this on the show, but when they've done them they've been great.
- Why did the show basically spoil the elimination matchup from the beginning? The episode description said two champions would face each other, and the only champs are Brad, Adam, Veronica, Laurel and Cara. And then the beginning of the episode was focused on Adam and Brad, so it was obvious from the beginning.
- The trivia challenge was one of the worst ever. The questions were way too hard...the whole point of trivia is to make people look dumb. And they were incredibly inconsistent in difficulty, like when Laurel/Ryan got screwed with having to spell Reykjavik after the last two words were Mission and Unbraided. The only slightly memorable moment that came from this was Brad not knowing how to spell Authority, but that's not even the worst spelling moment of his career (T-H-R-O-N). And once again, why are these not individual missions? It's an individual season and yet only 1/8 of the missions have been individual.
- Veronica has one of the best brains in Challenge history and that showed again in trivia. If she would actually get in shape she'd be a legit threat but that's unlikely. Leroy gave Veronica all the credit, but he came up big with the tallest building in the world question. This is the third mission this season he's shown flashes of a mental game, which has been sorely lacking throughout his career.
- It had been a really quiet season for Ace even with a win and getting a star last week, but he made a classic Ace gaffe with his dinner table story. It's odd that he would think Brad would want to go in against Adam, and even odder that he would still go ahead and vote for him, citing Ryan throwing him snacks as a key determining factor. I was surprised both Ace and Cara would throw in Brad despite their long standing relationships, especially when they were gassing him up at the beginning of the episode. Cara has made it very clear she's out for number 1 only this season, and maybe Ace is too. I don't believe Ace is a puppet for Cara like Flora says. But the handsome knight is a wild card and I love having him this deep in a season.
- Speaking of wild cards, we're headed to episode 8 with Ace, Steve, Tina and Flora still in the game. With 8 girls and 7 guys left, there's still a lot of fat to trim. I don't know how many episodes this season is supposed to be or how far along in the filming schedule they are at this point, so I can't say for sure whether people should start getting more aggressive to get a star. But traditionally with the show, it's better to sit back and wait for the right opportunity rather than being too aggressive. But hopefully this season actually has people left without stars at the end.
- The merciful editors gave us a week without Laurel and Nicole content. Unfortunately even despite that, this episode didn't do a ton for me other than a few nice personal moments and the Ace gaffe.

2024.05.15 10:47 Unapedra Guide: CH in Steam Deck and setting up a Wii guitar (for newbies as me)
My Steam Deck arrived a few days ago, and I've been able to configure everything pretty nicely. However, there have been some points in which I've struggled a bit and I've spent some time searching for the answer, so I hope I can sum everything up here for any new Steam Deck Clone Hero players.
Everything I'll explain here is posted on the internet, so you could find it on your own, but having no previous experience with Steam Deck (nor Linux) has made some things harder than I expected, so I hope it helps!
Installing Clone Hero
This really has no mistery. I followed
this video on Youtube, but basically the steps to follow are:
- Put Steam Deck in Desktop mode (hold Steam button > Power > Switch to Desktop).
- Open your browser (you'll have to install it first, if you haven't yet) and go to Clone Hero page.
- Click Download and it will download the Linux version.
- Extract the downloaded package in your Downloads folder, and then move it wherever you want it to be (SD card or Home directory).
Adding it as a Non-Steam Game
You can select the
clonehero executable file in the folder you just extracted, and right click (L2 button) and select "Add to Steam".
If it gives you an error, you will have to execute it first from Desktop mode (just tap into it and let the game load). After that, close the game and try again, and there should be no issues.
Keep in mind that you will need to press Start and select Guest player to be able to control the game, for example, to be able to select "Quit game". Installing custom songs: using Bridge in Steam Deck
Your default songs folder will be at
Home directory, inside
.clonehero folder (make sure to "display hidden files" in your folder settings), in a folder called
Songs. You can download your songs and move the downloaded song's folder in there.
My recommendation is to create a folder called
Custom Songs there, just in case you want to download songs from older GH games (this way, you can sort them later by
Playlist/Folder and keep everything organized by game or path).
Bridge is one of the best additions for your CH installation. If you want to use it, just go to
their releases page and download the
AppImage file.
Once downloaded,
you'll be able to execute it in Desktop mode (it's not possible to execute it as a non-steam game, since it will open the "game" but it will not load anything, at least in my case). There, make sure to go to the
Settings inside Bridge and
set your songs path to the Custom Songs folder, so everything you download goes there.
Everytime you add new songs, you'll have to go to your CH settings and hit "Scan songs" for they to appear in the game. I'm currently trying to set an additional path folder for songs inside CH settings, so I can set a folder with songs in the external microSD card, which will make it easier to manage my songs in my PC in stead of the Steam Deck, but I don't know if this will work. I'll update this once I know. But you want all your old GH games' songs, don't you?
In the right bar of this sub you have an Excel with the links to all the packages containing all the songs for old GH (and RB) games. However, they are quite a few, and most of them give a "quota exceeded" error. In PC, it might be easy to solve. For Steam Deck, well, it isn't so straight forward.
However,
you can find this post where a user wrapped all the songs from all GH games in one single (50GB) zip file. It's not perfect, it has some duplicates, but it's just
Download > Extract > Select what games you want to have in your CH > Move to your .clonehero/Songs folder. It may give you an error when trying to unzip it: it's because Ark's settings (the software used to decompress files). You'll have to open the Ark software on its own, go to settings and disable "Libzip" from the plugins selected. Then you'll be able to extract everything without issues.
Configuring your Wii guitar to play
(First, make sure to leave Desktop mode by pressing the "Return to Gaming mode" in your desktop) This is where my nightmare kicked in. I connected my Wiimote to the Steam Deck via Bluetooth (Steam Deck menu > Bluetooth) by hitting the red sync button in the controller and... it connected but it was not working.
Furthermore, connecting it with the guitar made it completely useless, unable to even map the buttons, and even worse, the only thing working was the "strum up", which opened the Steam menu. Not good. If you're having problems with it, just follow
these steps. Apart from the Steam Input interface, you can actually
overwrite your controller native mapping in the
Steam Deck menu > Controllers section.
If you connected your guitar with your Wiimote, you may see two Wii controlllers appear: one is for the guitar, the other is for the Wiimote alone. I recommend you to change the Guitar controller's name in this page (connect and disconnect the Wiimote from the guitar to guess which one is which). You don't actually need to map the exact same buttons as the ones mentioned in the link,
just make sure to register the following buttons inputs to a "logical" key (where they will have sense):
- All colored buttons, of course, to be able to play.
- Strum bar up and down, also obvious.
- Joystick / whatever your guitar has for directional input directions, as you will need left and right in the game if you want to practice and be able to speed down or up the song.
- Start (of course) and Select (star power).
Once you have your "A" button mapped, you will be able to skip any other inputs you don't want to register by pressing that same "A" button you just mapped. And now you will be able to open CH, however, nothing will work, because you haven't mapped your controller in game (yet).
Mapping your guitar keys ingame
With your guitar turned on, grab your Steam Deck and press the Steam button + X. This will open the keyboard, and then you can press the
Space bar to open the mapping menu.
Now press the "Assign controller" button (for me, I can do this only with the touchscreen) and hit any button in your guitar.
This will change to your guitar as main controller. If you cannot do any of these, it may be because you haven't selected a player. Start the game with a normal controller, press Start, select Guest, and then repeat the steps above. And now, just click the keys you want to map and press the corresponding guitar buttons (you should make sure to map the controls described in the previous step).
Once you finish, just hit "Done", and that's it! You can already play to CH in your Steam Deck! I hope this guide is not too complicated. I know this is a very simple process that anyone can do, but I hope it can help someone if they struggle with some steps of it.
Have fun playing and remembering old times!

2024.05.15 10:29 808duckfan Just got a second core set; have a few deck building questions.
I liked the game out of the box, but it's sat in the shelf for years. My interest in the 40K universe has grown, and I dug Conquest out. Found a deal on eBay for 9 warpacks and just picked up a second core.
1) With just one core, I was not able to build a "legal" deck: am I correct about this? I mean the 50 card decks.
2) With all of these warpacks, was the second core necessary for a kitchen table game?
3) Am I set now? Do I have a lot of gameplay options? I know there is more, but I want to play with what I have first.
Thank you for your time.

2024.05.15 09:19 thisvideoiswrong Quick Looks 3: Vo'Quv Carrier
By my count, there are 15 T5 ships available for just dilithium or a level 40 token, which someone might want a starter build for to help them finish off the episode missions and start the reputation grind. My
Strict Budget Build covers the three science vessels, the
Baby Step series covers the three cruisers with tactical ensigns, Quick Looks 1 and 2 cover the Hegh'ta Bird of Prey and the Jem'hadar Escort, and there's definitely an argument to be made that some are just bad choices. But there was one more I wanted to take a look at here. This series will not be as thoroughly researched as those previous series, and it will not feature optimized skill builds (there are many resources for that), but the builds will be proven in the Badlands Battlezone and in solo Defense of Starbase One Advanced, as well as extensively parsed in the Wanted (Argala System) patrol with comparisons to similar builds. That should adequately demonstrate that they can get you whatever reputation marks you need, using only mission, basic (generally Mk XII uncommon) Exchange, and Phoenix Store items. Each build will be allowed one Mk XV item to maintain parity with the Strict Budget Build, usually a forward weapon. It's also easy enough to put these together that I could be persuaded to do more if there's a ship that deserves it.
So, why the Vo'Quv? Well it's in the name, it's a carrier. Hangar bays are expensive to boost in this game, but that means they have to be balanced to have pretty good base damage. In this case the two hangars did more than half the damage of most of the other builds in this series with hardly any support for them. The downside to carriers is that they often sacrifice a lot for those hangars. Not so for Flight Deck Carriers, which are pretty much full cruisers, or any of the single hangar types, but the science carriers like the Vo'Quv don't really have an obvious path to getting ship damage, especially on this budget. Their turn rate is terrible, which is a problem for most things, they have only 6 weapons so getting a lot from energy weapons is out, and they don't have a secondary deflector, which did do more on my science vessel build than the hangars did here.
So where did I end up, then? Well, with 6 science ability slots and not a ton of options I couldn't see not using them for some direct exotic damage. And since that required me to face forward, and the turn rate was terrible and I couldn't do much about it, I concluded that I'd have to use turrets in the rear with either beam arrays or single cannons forward, the two widest arc weapon combinations possible apart from pure turrets, although their damage potential is limited. The Chronometric set also seemed like a must have, providing a large amount of EPG and some Polaron cat1 from the tac console, and a bit of aux power from the 2 piece, but I wasn't sure whether I'd want the Morphogenic set or not, since it would mean sacrificing a cannon. Then, I went to the
TRINITY DPS Calculator from STO BETTER and started plugging in some rough options. Single cannons outperformed beam arrays even with the Chronometric 3 piece, so that settled that, and getting the crtd from the Morphogenic 3 piece and Cannon Scatter Volley was well worth losing a forward cannon for the torp. Attack Pattern Beta proved a bigger contributor than expected thanks to boosting the exotic damage as well, which is why that's at 2 and CSV is at 1, and easily outperformed including a Torpedo Spread as well. Finally I switched the power settings away from a balanced configuration toward weapons over aux and aux over weapons, and the high aux version did best. So that was the build.
How did it perform? Well it was sluggish, obviously, I expected that. But the DPS was pretty impressive and was reflected in how quickly it got kills. And the survivability was pretty good, with a lot of hull and pretty good healing I really couldn't complain, except that it was so sluggish it was hard to run out of range and heal if I needed to. On the other hand when I did withdraw the fighters kept fighting, contributing to the highest Wanted Elite DPS of any of the builds in the table with only one attempt needed to survive the whole mission (the science vessel could do better by charging in and dying a couple of times, but needed to play cautiously and sacrifice its CPB to survive). They were even powerful enough to handle the Birds of Prey in Starbase One Advanced without any help from the mothership, potentially even without player input, which could be convenient.

This skill tree is my generalist one from
Strict Budget Build part 2, and it pretty much needs to be. This build relies on both energy weapon and exotic damage, so it can't afford to neglect either one. There are other generalist skill trees, of course, but that is what you'll need to be looking for, any single purpose tree isn't going to get the job done.
Ship Loadout: Vo'Quv Carrier
Slot | Item | Notes |
Fore Weapon 1 | Polaron Cannon | The one Mk XV, single cannons are usually a poor choice, but they will outperform beam arrays forward/turrets aft and provide 180 degrees of firing arc |
Fore Weapon 2 | Polaron Cannon | The Vo'Quv suffers from terrible turn rate so it doesn't want weapons with narrow arcs, but it needs to face forward for the exotic damage |
Fore Weapon 3 | Morphogenic Polaron Energy Torpedo Launcher | Here for the 3 piece set bonus providing 30% crtd to the whole ship |
| | |
Aft Weapon 1 | Heavy Chronometric Polaron Turret | Mostly need a turret, 2 piece provides some aux |
Aft Weapon 2 | Morphogenic Polaron Energy Weapon | Another turret, and contributes to the 3 piece |
Aft Weapon 3 | Polaron Turret | Just a turret |
| | |
Deflector | Solanae Deflector Array Mk XII Very Rare | Provides more EPG out of the box than any other mission reward |
Impulse Engines | Sol Defense Impulse Engines Mk XII Very Rare | With the bonus from getting hit this does just provide the best total turn rate out of the mission rewards at 14.7 degrees/s, replace with Fortified Competitive rep engines |
Warp Core | Obelisk Subspace Rift Warp Core | This build only hits 122 aux so this doesn't actually help, could consider Deuterium-Stabilized but the benefit is minimal |
Shields | Sol Defense Covariant Shield Array Mk XII Very Rare | 2 piece is nice for survivability, alternative would be Jem'Hadar 2 piece for a bit of Polaron cat1. |
| | |
Devices | Exotic Particle Flood | Crafted in Science R&D. I do have to admit that the materials are a little hard to come by, and Admiralty (with account unlocked ships) is the best source I've found. |
| Deuterium Surplus | Evasive Maneuvers in battery form, and you can collect 4 per day from the Alhena system. |
| Delta Alliance Reinforcements Beacon | Handy damage boost |
| | |
3 Engineering Consoles | Console - Engineering - Trellium-D Plating Mk XII Very Rare | Good survivability console, could use a Neutronium instead |
| Console - Engineering - Polaric Modulator Mk XII Very Rare | Boosts Inertia, which is rare, as well as turn rate, and slipstream turn rate at warp |
| Console - Engineering - House Martok Defensive Configuration Mk XII Very Rare | Boosts turn rate and provides some survivability, an RCS would work too |
| | |
4 Science Consoles | Console - Science - Temporal Disentanglement Suite Mk XII Very Rare | Nice crit and durability boost, plus some power. |
| Console - Science - Temporally Shielded Datacore Mk XII Very Rare | Slightly less EPG than Particle Generators but it makes up for it with the CtrlX |
| Console - Science - Particle Generator Mk XII Uncommon | Just need EPG |
| Console - Science - Particle Generator Mk XII Common | |
| | |
2 Tactical Consoles | Console - Tactical - Morphogenic Matrix Controller Mk XII Very Rare | For the 3 piece and some polaron cat1 |
| Console - Tactical - Chronometric Capacitor Mk XII Very Rare | Good EPG, some aux from the 2 piece, and some Polaron cat1, and this build uses all of it |
| | |
2 Hangar Bays | Hangar - To'Duj Fighters | These provide more DPS than any other hangar that's available by default, and they come with the ship, they will die in heavy AoE content, otherwise use two |
| Hangar - Delta Flyers | These have slightly less DPS than To'duj but almost never die in any content, but do require a level 65 KDF character for Cross Faction Flying. Could substitute B'rels for more DPS loss |
Officer Details
Bridge Officers | | |
Lt. Commander Tactical | Tactical Team I | Shield distribution and debuff clear, may cause firing cycle problems but I haven't seen it |
| Cannon: Scatter Volley I | Excellent weapon damage buff and also spreads APB to up to 3 targets |
| Attack Pattern Beta II | Unusual to slot this above the firing mode, but it boosts every damage source and weapon damage is only ~1/4 of the total |
| | |
Lt. Commander Engineering | Emergency Power to Engines I | More than doubles speed and provides +2 turn rate, essential mobility for any build |
| Auxiliary to Structural I | Excellent heal and damage resist, and on a very short cooldown |
| Emergency Power to Weapons III | Major energy weapon damage boost |
| | |
Commander Science | Hazard Emitters I | Good hull heal and debuff clear |
| Destabilizing Resonance Beam I | Good exotic damage, used with GW |
| Photonic Officer II | Cooldown reduction |
| Gravity Well III | Good exotic damage and control |

| Fleet Coordinator | | One of the best traits in the game when on a team |
| Give Your All | | Excellent hull damage resistance, from Engineering R&D |
| Operative | | Some extra crit |

Table formatting brought to you by ExcelToReddit Now, let's talk keybinds. In STO on PC you're going to want to learn keybinding eventually, and most of it's not too hard and can be done through the chat window (although it is arguably better to create a separate text file with your binds, that's more complicated). The first thing I always do is to set up a secondary fire weapons button through settings, usually V, just in case I screw up and my intended fire keybind doesn't work. While I'm there I usually set Distribute Shields to Left Shift, it's a pretty good survivability boost, although a lot of people do say it can mess up firing cycles, but personally I've never noticed a problem. Then, the commands you'll want to know are "FirePhasers" or "FireAll", "+power_exec Distribute_Shields", and "+TrayExecByTray # #", where # is a number. Note that the list of commands needs quotation marks around it, and commands should be separated by "$$". So if you typed the following into the chat: /bind y "+TrayExecByTray 0 0 $$ +TrayExecByTray 0 1 $$ +TrayExecByTray 1 2 $$ +TrayExecByTray 1 3" That would create a keybind so that y would activate the first and second abilities in the row labeled 1, and the third and fourth abilities in the row labeled 2 (0 in a keybind means 1 in the UI, 1 means 2, 2 means 3, etc., that's just how it works), starting with the fourth ability in 2 and then proceeding backwards. From there on in it's personal preference, put things where they feel natural to you, where you're used to them being. What I use has evolved naturally over time, I make no claims that it's efficient, just that I'm used to it, and I use it on everything. For fire weapons, distribute shields, Emergency Power abilities, cooldown reduction, often Aux to Structural, and anything else I just want to keep active I use spacebar, like this: /bind space "FireAll $$ +power_exec Distribute_Shields $$ +TrayExecByTray 6 0 $$ +TrayExecByTray 6 1 $$ +TrayExecByTray 6 2 $$ +TrayExecByTray 6 3 $$ +TrayExecByTray 6 4" That's the first 5 slots in row 7, which is usually enough. Then for my firing modes, Attack Pattern Beta, and so on, things with short cooldowns I activate as I attack, I use the 7 key, no good reason for that it just happened, and the first 4 slots in row 3: /bind 7 "+TrayExecByTray 2 0 $$ +TrayExecByTray 2 1 $$ +TrayExecByTray 2 2 $$ +TrayExecByTray 2 3" And finally for my exotic builds I always put Gravity Well and Destabilizing Resonance beam on 2, using the next two slots in row 3, although it is true that the usual logic behind that doesn't apply here, I just did it out of habit: /bind 2 "+TrayExecByTray 2 4 $$ +TrayExecByTray 2 5" That's all the keybinds I use, everything else I activate manually, one at a time, but it does compress 13 keys I might want to be pressing down to 3, which helps a lot.
Now, the difficult thing about this build is that I really don't know how to suggest upgrading it, apart from the obvious necessity of some Competitive Reputation engines to get their Overcharge to improve turn rate, I made sure to use Aux to Structural to pair with the Fortified version of those. The damage is very divided between different types, with about 40% from hangars, 25% from exotics, and 21% from energy weapons, and it's not getting a lot out of any of them, but I'll provide my own ideas and the STO BETTER Basics links for all three. Currently
the biggest damage source is the hangars, but trying to improve those would be expensive. Ideally you'd like to pick up Superior Area Denial from the Mirror Strike Wing Escort lockbox ship, or at least the Independent Wingmate space trait, but those are very expensive compared to this build. Even the more minor and less powerful
Advanced Engineering – Hangar Craft Power Transmission consoles are starting at 1 million energy credits each on PC for either a Mk XII with a useless mod or a Mk II with an [EPG] mod, or 5 million for a Mk II with [Polaron], while
Swarmer Matrix is going for 7 million. If you wanted to
work on exotic damage you could of course pick up the Temporal reputation two piece, and then you might want Subspace Vortex or Very Cold in Space to replace the heals with some more damage, but those will cost you 9 million each, and really you'd want to pair them with Spore Infused Anomalies from the Somerville or Batlh C-store ships for a truly potent source of exotic damage. You might be able to get good exotic damage out of the Gravimetric Photon and Particle Emission Plasma torpedoes after picking up the Competitive engines, and those aren't as expensive, but they do give you a much narrower arc. And if you wanted to
improve the energy weapons, of course there are reputation items you can pick up starting with the Discovery reputation shield, but you're pretty limited by the combination of poor turn rate and forward firing exotics. You could try to switch to dual (heavy) cannons, probably moving the torpedo to the rear and dropping the plain turret, but I don't think I'm a good enough pilot to pull that off even with Competitive engines, which would leave you with single cannons which have underwhelming base damage and very few set items to support them. I just don't know what direction to go in to make a really impactful improvement in this build.
Finally, here's the table of DPS testing in the Wanted patrol for all five equivalent budget builds. The Luna used the original, unaltered Strict Budget Build, using the mentioned swap of Emergency Power to Shields instead of Aux to Structural for better survivability against non-Borg. The Vor'cha sat somewhere between parts one and two of the Baby Step series, meaning it had exactly the same consoles as the Hegh'ta BoP and similar ones to the Jem Escort, and the beam equivalents of the phaser weapons, with exactly the abilities and personal traits in the Baby Step posts. It must also be said that the Vor'cha and Vo'quv were the only builds to never die on elite difficulty, and the Vor'cha was definitely the toughest, although all the builds took about 20 minutes to get through the mission so using them at that difficulty is a
bad idea. The Hegh'ta of course used the Quick Looks 1 build, and the Jem Escort used the Quick Looks 2 build.

Most of the reason it took me longer was due to unrelated things occurring in my life, but I digress. If D426 is the "why' behind SQL, this class is the "how." The exam is 25 questions long and more than half of those questions will have you actually writing SQL statements. This was a big adjustment because when studying for D426, I didn't do any labs. Writing SQL statements was something that took a while to "click," but when it did, things got a lot easier. Knowing when to use quotes, parentheses, and commas was my main issue.
Studying:
I recommend using the Chapter 7 and Chapter 8 labs in Zybooks. If you need to, you can also read over Chapters 1 & 2, but the labs should be your main focus. These labs are very similar to the questions in the Pre-Assesment, which was similar to the Objective assessment. When I first did these labs, I would look over the corresponding lesson and try to answer them on my own. 9/10 times, my statement was wrong. I then checked
this quizlet for the correct statements (since Zybooks won't tell you). I would review it and try and figure out why their statement was correct and why mine was wrong. I went over all the labs at least 3-4 times before taking the Pre-Assesment. Once I took the Pre-Assesment, I used
ChatGPT to get the correct answers for the questions I missed (since once again, you can't see what the right answers are). Be aware that in my experience, there are a couple of questions on the PA (and probably even the OA) where you can answer the question 100% correctly but still be marked wrong because you didn't do it the way
they wanted you to. This is my biggest issue with this class and I really hope this gets fixed.
Exam:
As for the exam, my biggest piece of advice is to run a second statement to check your answers. If you have a question where you need to create a table, add columns, or update data types and need to review the Columns/Data types, run a second statement where you type
DESCRIBE
table_name If you have a question where you're inserting/changing/updating rows & values and want to see the data within a table, run a second statement where you type.
SELECT *
FROM
table_name You can also do this before and after your initial statement to ensure that the data actually changed. If you do this,
MAKE SURE TO DELETE THE SECOND STATEMENT AFTER TESTING IT. I also ran my code again after deleting it just to be safe. If you don't delete your statement, the question will probably be marked entirely wrong. Also, don't worry about this taking up your time, you get like 4 hours for this exam.
In addition to what's in the labs, you should how to write different aggregate functions (Min, Max, Sum, etc.) and how to delete a table entirely. There are also multiple-choice questions, but it's probably less than 10. If you passed D426, these shouldn't be a huge deal. They'll probably be similar to the ones that appeared on the PA.
Conclusion: I actually grew to sort of enjoy writing SQL statements after this class. However, the questions can be very tedious and I don't believe there is much partial credit. You have to be very careful not to make any typos and to answer the question how you think they want you to answer it. I think this class would work far better as a Performance-Assesment rather than an objective one. Something where you have to create a project in SQL would be much more enjoyable in my opinion. But as of right now, as long as you review and understand the labs and Pre-assessment, you should be able to pass this one.

2024.05.15 07:50 halkonnen Probabilities when drawing cards in star wars unlimited
Hey,
i am having a math problem. I want to check out probabilities for my star wars unlimited gameplay.
It has to do with probabilities and cards. Let's assume we have a deck of 50 cards. 47-49 of those 50 cards dont matter.
What matters are 1-3 cards (Let's say they are the jokers, the rest of the deck could be anything).
So I either have a deck with 1 joker and 49 cards, 2 jokers and 48 cards or 3 jokers and 47 cards. (If I choose to put one, two or three jokers in it and fill the rest with other cards).
On the first turn I draw 6 cards, on the 2nd turn I draw two cards and on each other turn I draw 2 cards as well.
What are the chance to have 1, 2, 3 or at least one jokers on turn 1, on turn 2 and so on.
I can't really figure how how to do the math.
A table like this would be really helpful in the end.
Turns Number of Jokers in Deck Chance of 1 Joker Chance of 2 Jokers Chance of 3 Jokers Chance of at least one joker
Any math buffs arround? Any website that can do this? I would love to understand the whole process but it seems to be kinda tricky.

2024.05.15 07:38 afishcalledkwanzaa Costa Rica Trip Report: Papagayo, Rio Celeste, La Fortuna
Just spent eight days in Costa Rica. Learned a lot from this subreddit, so hoping this trip report helps anyone with future travel plans.
Airport - We flew into Liberia.
- Customs (crowded, but quick) and bags were easy.
- Duty Free store prices seemed reasonable for a Westerner.
Car Rental - I don't think there are any on-site car rental agencies.
- We rented through Hertz. Online quote was $297.55. Online said $18/day third-party liability, in-store they said $25/day. Also, everything is subject to another 13% tax. And another $18 for roadside assistance. Total was close to $600.
- None of this is delivered in any formal manner. The new quote amount is written on a business card and shown to you at the counter.
- We were able to waive the CDW by getting a Letter of Eligibility from eClaimsLine (I used a Chase Sapphire Reserve)
- They are very thorough with documenting the condition of the car. If you damage anything, they'll definitely notice.
- Probably the worst renting experience I've ever done. And I came in knowing all about TPL and CDW waivers, etc.
- Only drove from Papagayo to Rio Celeste to La Fortuna, then back to Papagayo. Roads and other drivers were great. Only one small stretch of road/dirt where I was glad we rented an SUV. A sedan got stuck on that stretch on our drive back.
Lodging - Andaz Papagayo - Exactly what you expect. Reminded me of a more lush Park Hyatt St. Kitts. Easy to stay on property. Very sterile. People exaggerate how busy the carts are on the walking paths - it's like every other resort with carts. Probably not worth cash rate and maybe not even points. Food was fine. If you're Globalist, do all your breakfast at Ostra. All service staff (servers, bartenders, drivers) was excellent.
- Tabacon - I think the rooms were nicer and liked walking the property more than the Andaz. On-site pool kind of disappointing. The thermal pools are down the street and open to the public. The first night we went it was a little too party/clubby than we expected. Bartenders were great.
Attractions - Mega Combo Zip Line Tour and Volcano Hot Spring at Rincon de la Vieja. Price included round-trip transit from Papagayo. The ziplines were cool. We were ahead of a large group, so we got through all ziplines pretty quickly (which was fine). The waterslide was really good. I could have skipped the horseback riding, lunch, and the volcano hot spring.
- Rio Celeste - Easily the highlight of the trip. Walk the whole thing if you can. If you're late for your time, they'll let you in with the next group. They won't let you in early. We were able to park and swim just up the road from the park entrance.
- Arenal 1968 Volcano View - It's a fine hike. I think they said the full loop is around 3 hours and I think we did it in close to 90 minutes. The viewpoint is whatever and early into the hike. If you don't want to hike, you can just go to the cafe which is the last stop of the hike.
- SkyAdventures Ziplines & Hanging Bridges at Arenal Park was good. I think a more polished zipline experience than the one we did at Rincon de la Vieja, but a lot more waiting around between the ziplines because of the big groups. The hanging bridges walk was good, but they give you 2.5 hours to finish it (and a zipline ticket for that time). We did it in less than 90 minutes and they wouldn't let us zipline until our ticket time. I don't know how this compares to the Mistico Park Hanging Bridges, but I think I'd rather have just done ziplining here and the bridges at Mistico Park.
Food - Mostly ate at the resorts. Probably not helpful for those not staying at the Andaz or Tabacon, so I'll post those in the Hyatt subreddit.
- La Ventanita in El Castillo (next to SkyAdventures) - Went here because sand-in-my-toes71 said they're the "Best burritos I’ve ever eaten". Apparently the owner is from California, which makes sense why you're getting Mission burritos in Costa Rica. Very good food for Costa Rica and great views.
- Blue River Brewery in Bijagua de Upala (next to Rio Celeste) - Went here because I wanted a beer after Rio Celeste. Food is fine, beer is good. The trees across the way have toucans. We saw a bunch. The lady who worked there told us that one of the best places to see sloths is at the Finca Verde Lodge (we didn't go, so unconfirmed).

2024.05.15 07:04 Buzzer71 Finally cup champs. Probably the best defensive core I’ve ever built
| Trades and Free Agency Moves: I traded Swayman and 87 OVR Lapierre in the offseason for Bowen Byram and a pick, which freed up the cap space to bring in Seider and Crosby from free agency. Roster Adjustments: With most of my guys on cheap bridge deals, I did some reworking to make my bottom 6 more physical for the playoffs. Strategic Approach: This team was fully built to counter the Devils, who had eliminated us the past 3 years and would score 4-5 goals a game against us. Playoff Success: The penguins were a breeze and gave us no competition really. The second round We were going up against our kryptonite and after a crosby hat trick in game 4 we finally beat them in 5 games. The leafs lost game one 3-2 after tallying 56 shots on net while we had 27, D'aigle stood on his head and the leafs never recovered. Then in the cup finals, we came back from being down 2-0 to the Avalanche after double-shifting McKenna on the powerplay and ended up cup champs in 7 games submitted by Buzzer71 to EANHLfranchise [link] [comments] |
2024.05.15 07:03 MikhailaKirov Weddings
My god, I'm so sorry this is going to be long...but I have to get this out and I have no one else to rant to except myself, so here I am...
TL;DR 1: Theyre expensive for no reason, stressful for no reason, and honestly I just think they're not worth the time...
I love my fiancee to death, but all I wanted to do was go to a courthouse, sign some documents and be married to this absolute beautiful soul that has graced my life. Then maybe take a month off and go somewhere special out of state that we've always dreamed of (Greece is a huge one! Lol), take a cruise somewhere with the money we've saved, or pay off some credit card/student debts..Hell, or even put down a down payment for a house we've always wanted/talked about, get a couple dogs/chickens we've wanted and just... bask in our life together.
But here we are spending 20+ thousand dollars and countless hours testing different fake flowers, trying to find outfits for the groomsman that fit the color palette (men's warehouse fucking SUCKS compared to getting exact colors at the womens bridal place!), frustrated, crying, figuring out how we want to set up the table decorations, aisle decorations, figuring out what to give as gifts to an event that we're fully paying for, what music to play, people aren't rsvping in a timely manner, hotels, venues, caterers, music, food, transportation, alcohol, day of planners, hair, makeup, etc, etc, ETCETCETCETCETCETCETCETC..
All for family that we hardly talk to on a regular, that we prob will continue not talk to on regular after all is said and done and alot of which don't even get along so seating arrangements are annoying to do. The next few months honestly can't come soon enough so all this can just be behind us and we can move on with our lives.
I want to be married to her, I want to hold her, I want to take her last name, I want to spend my life with her... I don't want a wedding, I don't want to go thru this wedding planning, I don't want to needlessly throw money away like this for a single night to appease the eyes of others, cause honestly that's all weddings feel like to me.
I'm not a fan of being the center of attention in any situation and just the thought of it makes me anxious having to do so for 6+ hours. Not to mention, our wedding party is spending their own hard earned money to fund our Bachelorette party and I feel AWFUL about it. I love and appreciate our friends for going out of their way but we're all in our early 30s now, life is basically established for everyone, everyone has things to do, jobs to work, some have children to take care of, some are in the army, life is so hard, I feel so bad...
My future wife (♡) is so precious to me, this is something she REALLY wants and dammit ill deliver lol, I never wanted to say no, I just wanted a happy compromise... she's been thru so much and denied so much in life I want to give her this, shes so sweet and caring of myself and others, always puts others before herself, truly a selfless soul...but wow...is this wearing us down...
Like I said, I don't really have anyone to rant this out to, everyone is so happy for us I'd feel horrible tearing this event down complaining to someone... We'll be married a literal day before our 8th anniversary and I can't wait for us to fully and completely call each other 'Wife' :)
TL;DR 2: I just don't like weddings.

2024.05.15 06:53 UmaBatataFrita All PS1/PSP/PS3 games that have cross-buy or free upgrade to PS4 or PS5 version.
As the Playstation 3 surprisingly still has a very active playerbase (until last year, 2 million active users were registered on the PS3, which for me is surprising considering that it is a console that is almost 20 years old, here in Brazil it has even become an extremely cheap option for some people's "first console", which I think is kinda nice) I ended up being motivated to write this post which could perhaps be useful for people who have both consoles (PS3 and PS5) or have a PS3 and intend to keep the same PSN account when migrating to a new console.
PSOne Classics: Few people know, but PS1 or PSP games that you purchased on PS3/PSP/PSVita consoles can be downloaded again for free on PS4 or PS5 after they are added to the classics catalog without the need for a subscription to Playstation Plus Premium/Deluxe, unfortunately not all games have this (I know the first Resident Evil doesn't have it) so a list of which games can be downloaded for free on PS4/PS5 would be very useful:
- Jumping Flash!
- Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee
- Syphon Filter
- Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear To The Rescue!
- Wild Arms
- Ape Escape
- Hot Shots Golf
- I.Q. Intelligence Qube
- Worms World Party
- Worms Armageddon
- Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare
- MediEvil
- Cool Boarders
PSP Free Upgrade Games: - Blade Dancer
- Syphon Filter Dark Shadow
- Killzone Revolution
- Ape Escape On The Loose
- Ridge Racer Type 4
- Ape Escape Academy
- Ape Escape Academy 2
- Ape Escape: On the Loose
- MediEvil Resurrection

PS3 ~ PS4 Cross-Buy Games: In the past, some games had crossbuy between Playstation 3 and Playstation 4, in short, if you bought the PS4 version you got the PS3 version and vice versa, there are even reports from some people that some games offered on Playstation Plus Extra could be played on PS3 too, but I couldn't confirm this, below are all the games that have crossplay between PS3 and PS4:
