2024.04.26 20:23 ilikepokemonsss sample lesson plan for first tutoring session, help please
Hello,
I am a new ESL tutor, and the first student I am working with is an adult who speaks coherently and properly for the most part. He wants help with pronunciation and "not sounding awkward".
The first session was just sort of an "assessment" to see what he would like to work on. He speaks in a lot of fragments, and his accent sounds like this:
https://youtu.be/zJvQ8rZuYpA?si=agH2-eVE_vQGN6RG He said he wants to be confident in job interviews. I think he wants to improve his fluency to interview better.
I have no idea how I should structure a tutor session with these needs.
Does anyone have any ideas on how you would structure a lesson plan for this student? If his English was very "broken", I would provide worksheets or reading comprehension activities... things like that... but he speaks fine for the most part besides using a lot of fragments and "um, uh, " things like that..
So far, all I can think of is...
30 minutes - mock interview
30 minutes - review things he could improve on (?)
Does anyone have any suggestions or input? I am new to tutoring ESL so want to do well and be helpful

2024.04.26 01:26 Askjfkekfj Good at real-life problems but bad at school?
Donβt know if this is even an INTJ thing or not, but, I definitely need some sort of reassurance to feel better lol. Just hoping to find some people who are similar to me, and stop myself from thinking the world is gonna end just because of some grades.
Iβm not really like those stereotypical INTJβs who like chess, good at math and science.. serious and cold all the time.
Though, I do get a lot of comments where some classmates of mine talk about my RBF, saying how Iβm cold and angry all the time. But, I think Iβm pretty nice(?) socially, if I do say so myself.
In terms of school, Iβm a good student. But also not, in some subjects. Like, math and science. Itβs boring, uninteresting, and unimportant to me.
I do well on English and other subjects, unless the teachers are strict. Chess, is also boring for me. The moves get repetitive fast, and everything is the same when you play it for a long time. If not, in my perspective, I like Tetris more and other games lol.
My INFJ best friend is way better than school than I am. She gets Aβs and Bβs in everything. Her personality is soft and understanding. Though, weβre exact opposites. Sheβs good at school but not real life problems, while I believe real life situations are much more important than school. Thus, I often slack in classes sometimes and end up not paying attention because itβs a waste of time. Having a piece of paper deciding your future is ridiculous.
I have a job outside of school. Which, I believe, is way more important. It taught me how to public speak, and socialize properly. Confrontation, patience, and problem solving.
While in school.. you sit there, 8 hours every day like a full time job with no pay, get up early every damn morning, and watch some adult talk about some random things about a certain subject and expect us to be interested. Is it useful? No. Slap a few worksheets from here and there against our faces, and if we donβt finish a piece of paper and fill the entire page like a fucking file, we wonβt graduate.
I know that itβs just the government enforcing the schools, but Iβm gonna start getting political if iβm tired enough lol.
I donβt usually post nor comment on here, but, itβd be nice to interact with others who feel the same.

2024.04.25 17:16 Suitable-Proposal-DF Is there a methodology to help manage complex formulas with many overlapping conditions? 2 example formulas part of inventory forecasting/ordering worksheet
Hi everyone, I am trying to come up with 2 formulas and getting bogged down. I'm interested in having someone show me the formuals needed, and also learning a methodology to reliably build a complicated formula like this. I attached a section of the sheet I'm working on below. It is a inventory review worksheet that is designed to identify sku's that need to be replenished, and recommend a quantity to order, so that we can review and agree on a quantity. I had built out a sheet that did this, but the team here has asked for a more complex logic, and I have not been able to make it work the way they want.
In the sheet, the first "block" (rows 7-15) are values--this was used to mock up the way we want it to work. the next two blocks have formulas, but neither is complete. The formulas I want help with are the "ending inventory" rows in columns P-Z, and the "ASAP Qty" cell in AB7, 16 and 25.
Ending inventory: this is the number of units we carry out of that month into the next month. The ATS/on hand is inventory in our warehouse today, shown only for the current month. The actual units tracks our %above forecast and creates an "adjusted forecast" based on that. We can manually enter a % in O8,17,26. On order shows quantity on existing PO's arriving, under their arrival month. The formula should take inventory on hand for this month (or carrying into that month) + units arriving on a PO, and subtract the month to date actual from the forecast using the "manual adjust" forecast if present, otherwise using the adjusted FC units. The catch is that we want negative units to accumulate month to month except if we cant get new units on time, or if we have units arriving--If we cant get those units before the 45-day lead time, they are lost sales that we dont want to try to order inventory for, and if we have inventory arriving (as in U15) we we are going to order the 2 units for June, but we want the future months to reflect units assuming we order for June.
The current formula in U23 is: IFERROR(IF(AND(U$5<$AB$2,T23<0),IF(U16=" ",(U24)-(U20-U22),(U16+U24)-(U20-U22)),IF(U16=" ",(T23+U24)-(U20-U22),(U16+U24)-(U20-U22)))," ") ...But, its not deciding between the adjusted forecast versus the manual adjusted fc if present, It's not ignoring a negative ending inventory in the previous month if there is a PO arriving.
Ending inventory: (inventory on hand OR carrying into that month+ arriving that month)-(adjusted OR manual adjusted forecast units-actual units), BUT
β’ ending inventory negative units before the lead time (inside the 45-day lead time): ignore/treat as a zero
β’ after the lead time: if there is no inbound inventory, accumulate the negative qty (see X, Y, Z 14)
β’ If there IS arriving inventory, ignore a negative in the previous month/treat it as a zero becasue we'll fill those units in via a new PO
β’ If the "manual adjusted forecast" is present, use that instead of the "adjusted FC units".
ASAP Qty: This formula looks at our forecasted sales for the lead time (45 days) and then decides if we need to order to have enough inventory for the next 30 days after that. We want to pro-rate the amount ordered for that ending month via cell AE. If the ending quantity in that "order month" (defined by AD2) is negative, we want to order that quantity. However, if we have inventory arriving that month causing that ending inventory to become positive, AND the previous month has an inventory deficit (negative) and is after our 45-day lead time, then we want to order that previous month's quantity. So in the example, in U14 even though we have a positive ending inventory for July, we have an actionable shortfall in June of 2 units, so we want to order that quantity. current formula in AB16 is: IF(OFFSET(N23,0,$AD$2)>0,0,OFFSET(N23,0,$AD$2)*-1-((OFFSET(N20,0,$AD$2)*$AE$1)))
...BUT, it isnt looking back at the previous month if the "order month" is a positive ending inventory and it is still possible to order for that previous month, and the pro-rate portion of the formula is only looking at the adjusted FC, not deciding between that or the manual adjusted FC. ASAP qty:
β’ if the order month qty is negative, we want to order that quantity to cover the need for the entire actional period between the lead time and the next 30 days.
β’ We want to prorate that order-months forecast--either adjusted or manual adjusted if present--based on AE1
β’ If that order-month (july in this case) has enough inventory to cover the forecast, but the previous month has a deficit AND is still actionable after our lead time, we want to fill in that quantity.
Sorry for all the words, but hopefully this makes sense. I am basic-proficient in simler versions of this sort of formula, but frankly I'm lost in the complexity of all the various conditions. Anybody care to suggest a formula that I can paste into the "ending inventory" rows in columns P-Z, and the "ASAP Qty" cell in AB7, 16 and 25? Thank you!!!

2024.04.25 06:22 idhaff How do I sort by the values in a column in Excel 2013?
So, I have a total page on my worksheet that lists the name of each member and their total participations, however, these are not in order of highest to lowest, and I need to enlist them by name next to their total on the contiguous placement table, however, Excel 2013 does not, in fact, have the sort formula, and I cannot find a way to assign the places automatically using the formulas available to me. Picture related. Please help, I'm just a student working on school software, and thanks in advance.

2024.04.24 23:49 Learo2000GT Want to make Training Manual/Education Lessons
Hello-
I want to make a training manual and education lessons for assistive technology products such as Dragon NaturallySpeaking that can be printable, accessed in electronic format, and then accessible via chatbot.
Do you have any recommendations for an AI product to help me format the manual with lesson plans in different text sizes, graphs, and images? Also, when done with the manuals, I would like to host them for clients to access to ask a chatbot their questions instead of having to read through the manual to sort it out.
I have the knowledge and information I want to include, but I struggle with the manual's formatting; if AI could help, that would be amazing.
I appreciate any and all help.
Thank you.

2024.04.24 18:13 1992_Ian Bulk multiplication, division math problem book/collection
Hello there,
I'm looking for (preferably) a pdf with tons of multiplication problems. I don't like those worksheets from for example k5 learning because you can't bulk download them and there aren't enough problems on them. I sure there has to be something printable, and also with addition, subtraction and division.
Thanks in advance!
Edit: I mean multiplication with bigger numbers just to practice it. Something like 143Γ76 or 1234Γ9876

2024.04.22 18:27 variousbreads Workflow can't select between different sheets?
From what I can tell there is not a native way to have a specific sheet that data from a form in a workflow is printed to based on a selection an end user is making on the form. For instance, there is a dropdown menu, and if they select "cat" it prints data to the sheet tab I've labeled "cat" or if they select "dog" it prints data to the sheet tab labeled "dog" from the form, etc. We can easily have it do this to a specific sheet on a Google worksheet, but it doesn't appear there is a way to have it select which sheet tab based on a variable from a workflow or a form. I could make it work either way.
I can easily have it just print the selection to sheets, then sort by this selection and move it myself, but I'm trying to automate this menial task. Would I be stuck building a custom solution to this, or has anyone done something similar already?

2024.04.22 18:18 INTJMoses2 Decision making tool based on functions
In a vain attempt to reach higher levels of objectivity and as a nod to a certain chapter in Gifts Differing, I have created a decision making tool in which someone would utilize as a sort of worksheet to cover not just their functions but other functions. It has the added benefit to being in the correct order as prescribed. The placement of introvert before extraverted was my choice and seemed correct based on observations. You will notice that tense and plural nature of the functions derives from introversion/extraversion, this too is my choice and based on observations. This worksheet is subject to change and may include a section in the future on how to formulate a question.

2024.04.22 16:52 jennyfurhh When students finish what they need to..
Do you try to engage them in some other sort of activity or worksheet?
Specifically in middle school.
For example, Iβm in a technology class and they have a video assignment theyβre supposed to finish, and then free time. After I took attendance, I asked how many of them are almost finished and over half of the class raised their hands.
I donβt have access to look at who has turned in what so I have no idea if theyβre being honest, but even if they are nearly finished.. it brings me back to my original question:
Do you try to engage students who are finished with the classβs tasks in doing something else, whether it be a random activity, worksheet, or group game? (Granted I also understand that if some students are still working, I could see how a group game for those finished could be distracting.)
In the past, I have enjoyed the low-pressure days where Iβm reading. and maybe my current book isnβt good enough to make me want to read over doing extra in the classroom. However, I would like to engage students a bit more, if I can find a way to connect with them.
Otherwise theyβre playing games.
I also have zero desire to be βcringeβ or seen like I am doing too much. If itβs better for me to just keep to myself and manage the classroom as written, I can do that.
Any thoughts or experiences?
edit: sounds like I need to find more entertaining books so I donβt overthink my job in the classroom and do too much lol

2024.04.22 10:04 Jremeee AFPC Waiver Required?
Hello, I'm applying for the 23OTS24 Non-Rated board. My leadership is in full support, however I believe I might have a speed bump... I got an IPCOT approved, extending my overseas assignment to Mar 2027. On the eligibility worksheet, block 20 states: "If OCONUS, are you within 9 months of your half way point as of the board convening date? If you are past your half way point as of board convening date, will you be outside the 25th day of the eighth month window before your DEROS? (If not, you must extend to be outside of the 25th day of the eighth month window to apply - DAFMAN 36-2032, 7.3.1.2)".
When my Chief reached out to the Accessions board for this issue, we received this message "If IPCOT starts March 2024 correct he is not eligible for 24OTS boards. Best to provide DAS, IPCOT start date if different from March 24, new DEROS." I went ahead and talked to my functional, and my leadership and they're on board with a curtailment that needs to be worked on if I was to get selected. However, I believe I would need an AFPC waiver included with my package during the time of submission, am I correct? Has anyone ever ran into this sort of problem as well? TIA for any input and/or advice!

2024.04.22 07:12 Visual-Ad9918 Need Assistance with Excel Tracking Inventory
Hello everyone! I'm seeking some assistance with setting up a basic inventory tracker for a nonprofit organization I'm involved with. I'd like to use a barcode scanner of some sort to manage the inventory by scanning an item and it being able to somehow get posted on to a worksheet accordingly. I'm struggling to find a starting point, as most tutorials I've found online aren't very clear, and my Excel experience is very limited. Here's what I need to display on the worksheet: - Barcode/SKU - Product Name - Product Type - Available Quantity
If the worksheet could also automatically group/sort the data, as in I scan a new laptop, it automatically gets added to new laptop list, that would be ideal. My confusion in the matter would be in regards to how it would distinguish between a new or an old laptop that is being discarded. Perhaps Iβd need a barcode that distinguishes where it would go on the worksheet? Literally any advice on this would be so helpful. A colleague of mind suggested I use something like this, but I wouldnβt even know how.
Any advice welcome!
Thanks!

2024.04.22 06:16 gracemary25 My honest thoughts on each Bates In-Law
Again, purely speculation and opinion based, don't know these people and I am more than likely wrong. Again, I understand they have fucked up views and I'm not endorsing but I do try to see the best in people when I talk about them.
Whitney-She is tied with Esther for my favorite of the bunch. Her life struggles and the many phases she has been through give her a very relatable quality. She comes across very grounded. At first, I think she was desperate for the approval of the whole big Bates machine after all the instability of her youth (FWIW, I've seen other people say and I believe that she was not removed from her parents by CPS but was probably placed with another family in her church due to "rebellious" behaviostrained relationship with parents. That doesn't let her parents off the hook but I do think it's worth mentioning.) But in recent years she's really come into her own and it's been great to see. I think she and Zach have a beautiful relationship. She also seems like a very loving and doting mother who truly wanted a large family vs. being pushed into it like her SILs. (Which makes sense because she wasn't raised in a fertility cult like they were.) She doesn't act like her life is perfect (cough Erin) but she doesn't spend a bunch of time bitching about her kids and how annoying they are on social media (which annoys the hell out of me when I see people do it tbh. I'm like, your kids are going to see this one day.) Of course she isn't perfect. Y'all know I don't like the Mommy Influencer schtick and and being so deeply connected to Abeka is....a choice. It's nice that her kids socialize with other children, play sports, etc., but they could really flourish in a public or private school. That being said, she does seem like she's pretty involved in their homeschooling process, in comparison to Alyssa who just sticks them in front of the computer or hands them worksheets. Overall Whitney comes across as a warm, funny and genuine woman.
Brandon-I've gone back and forth on him. First I thought he was alright, if a bit tightly wound, then I thought he was a controlling weirdo, and recently I've come back around to sort of liking him again. A lot of my change in opinion comes to down to the Keilens' recent video chronicling their infertility journey. He has been so supportive of her and sensitive to her needs and feelings during all this. The fact that he told her "Go to God and tell Him how you truly feel" when she said she was doubting her faith said a lot to me. I know it's still a religious response, but he could've given the stock answer of "Just believe harder and don't be ungrateful to a God who's done so much for you." It's like he actually wanted her to be comforted. And the fact that he has been so supportive tells me that he loves Michaela for herself, not for her womb. I feel sorry for him as well because you can tell he really wants to be a father. When he was talking about Eden and he said that he said to God, "Give her to me" it broke my freaking heart. He would have loved that little girl so much. Of course he has many flaws, chief among them being producing material for IBLP. That is really really Not Good. But I've come to the conclusion that he is more like Michaela than I thought: A gentle, sensitive person who truly cares about other people but is deeply enmeshed with toxic cult beliefs. I think if he tried his hand at a secular career, he could be successful; I could see him illustrating children's books.
Chad-I used to really like Chad for all his romantic gestures, but lately he's been everything I dislike about Brandon amplified and without many of Brandon's redeeming qualities. Well, maybe that is oversimplifying. But I swear, something happened to Chad when all that boutique/Carlin drama went down. It was like he was like "wait, I'M the headship here" and he cracked the fuck down. All of a sudden the family was headed to Florida, and boy did he make sure they got there come hell or high water. And in Florida, Chad has all the power. He's straight up said he wants to keep his daughters in dresses/skirts only. The whole Paine Florida Farm Era has just been off-putting as hell. His has this strange affect now. I will say, he has been extraordinarily helpful to the Bates and anyone around him when they needed help with anything construction related (or anything period-bro was the family barber for a while.) I think he is a very loyal man and actually follows his own moral compass very closely. I think he actually loves his family deeply-its just in his mind, control=love.
Tiffany-I actually like Tiffany. There, I said it. She comes across very sweet and like an amazing cheerleadehype woman. People call her a kiss ass who's trying to get in good with the Bates, and there's probably some truth to that but I'm also inclined to believe that that's just her natural personality. If you look at her pre-Lawson insta posts, that's just how she talks about people. The fact that she pays special attention to people like Callie, who often get overlooked, is a very kind thing in my eyes. I also have sympathy for her conflicting emotions during a rainbow pregnancy. I actually think her and Lawson are pretty happy-certainly not the greatest love story ever told, but they care for each other. She does have Toxic Positivity vibes though-everyone is so happy and loves each other sooooo much. Fighting? What's a fight? She lives in a bit of a fantasy world. Also her connections to institutions like Liberty University is π¬. That being said, I think she is going to love this baby to the point of smothering them lol.
Esther-If Esther has zero stans I'm dead. I jest, but she is soooo refreshing for a fundie wife. She is who she is and she's not apologizing to anybody for it. What matters to her are her man, her kids, and her happiness. And I love that. She did NOT settle and waited for a true love match who dotes on and adores her. Another rare quality in a fundie woman-she knows her worth. She is an attentive mother who clearly knows her child very well. She never kissed Kelly's ring. In a world of women who tie themselves into knots desperately hoping for approval, it's truly a breath of fresh air.
John-π. That basically sums up my feelings on John. He's just such a 1950s father-his only responsibility is providing financial security, his wife does all the "women's work" of childcare, cooking, cleaning, etc. He's only interested in his son while his daughters bore him. He prioritizes time with his buddies over time with his family. It's not that he doesn't love them-I'm sure he does. His approach to family life is just one that should have died out 50 years ago.
Bobby-Not too hot on him either. For God's sake give your poor wife a break. If the cheating thing is true (and there's no hard evidence so I'm not claiming it is), then he's a dirtbag. But even if it isn't, it really feels like he's clipped Tori's wings. She lost some of her spark when she married him which is tragic. Personality wise he's cardboard. He's white bread. He just doesn't stick out to me.
Lydia-She's alright. I actually feel sorry for her, having a husband who will publicly state he has "the final say" in decisions about HER life. The rhetoric she spouts about her immigration case is stupid, but while I scoff at it I also have sympathy for her because she had no say in it originally. She was only 10 years old when she came here, and now she has an entire life in the US complete with an American-born husband and child. So I understand her desire to stay. But the pretenses on which her family is here are plainly ridiculous. And they are MAD hypocritical for going on about how mean the government is being to them while continuing to shit all over POC who are fleeing dire poverty and genuine tyranny. Personality wise she does seem pretty nice though. And she is quite the doting mom. It's clear Ryker is her world. I also have a lot of sympathy for the trauma of her miscarriage and I think it's cool that she is (was?) a photographer.
Evan-He actually seems quite friendly and warm, but he can be so freaking obnoxious and fame hungry. I remember when Zade was born he was immediately caught up in making instagram reels. Like bro can you breathe without filming something on your phone. Just enjoy the moment for once. I think he is even more gung ho about the family vlogging thing than Carlin. He wanted an off-ramp out of being an electrician and that was it. I think he loves Carlin a lot but also makes a lot of impulsive decisions and seems weirdly immature for a father of two (they are two peas in a pod that way lol.) He is just always, always filming and it irks me so bad. However he does seem very involved in the day to day childcare which is nice.
Kelton-Dawg IDK how to feel. I'll say this: There are a lot of things about Kelton that I actually respect. He feels like an actual adult. He runs a businesss very competently and is not completely reliant on social media for a living. He is bonded with his children and he makes sure his wife has proper medical care. He actually takes life seriously and doesn't treat it like some 24/7 Youtube lark A La Evan or Lawson. But of course there is the downside. I know there's a lot of controversy about how his relationship with Josie started, and while I don't think I have the authority to label it, bottom line is it was fucking weird. And the posts about his 2-year-old daughter's purity....Stop It. Get Some Help. I think his mom's death screwed him up big time and he just did not know how to act for a while.
Travis-He's like a more tolerable version of Evan to me. He's still got that over-the-top YouTuber persona but I feel like it is tempered by more rationality and self-awareness. He seems to have a naturally lighthearted personality. People used to say he was mean but I never saw that at all. Maybe it's because we're both from New Jersey. That's probably why he comes across as much more "normal" in his affect than other fundies do to me. I'm interested to see how this whole touring business goes. I'm glad he seems like a pretty chill father since growing up under the yoke of Daddy and Granddaddy Clark sounds fucking scary.
Emerson-I really don't know that much about her. She seems sweet but she also co-signed on the Target post which is blech. Overall I think marrying someone like her-a public school girl from a smaller and much more mainstream family-was a great thing for Jackson though. Maybe their kids will be the first ones in the Bates fam to have a shot at attending public school. I know Florida public schools are barely a step above wisdom booklets but hopefully they'll move lol.

2024.04.21 14:53 maks7002 Wannabe tutor seeking some help
Hey guys I donβt know if this is the right subreddit, but I wanted to ask anyway. Iβve just become a tutor just to 2 students in my local area to pick up some extra cash but Iβm wondering what sort of materials Iβll need for students like learning aids, things to do, etc. Iβve been studying the appropriate state curriculums for a while so should I try and print off worksheets/materials related to that or should I first try to understand where my students are at and work around it from there?
