Weird Guns My Dad Made
A brief introduction so this makes sense: my dad is an old model builder that got into airsoft about a decade ago and took his modeling skills and imagination with him. So naturally, he has made some rather weird creations. All of these guns were hand modified by him with no special tools other than what we had in the garage, but were also assembled with very careful precision, so despite not being factory built, they fit together quite well and are more rugged than one might expect from plastic and sheet metal. And now that he’s retiring, he’s asked that I get rid of them.
Every gun sold will be test fired and chronographed before sale so you’ll know what you’re getting, video as well on request. That being said, other than a brief test fire I can make no guarantees on range, accuracy, or other performance. I simply do not have the time to take everything out to a range and test them in depth.
Every gun has been upgraded internally to some degree, I cannot verify what is in them, but none are stock, and all work unless specified. Everything in each respective picture is included.
G&P AK. This one is mostly as it came minus the top rail, stock, and shortened outer barrel. $120
JG G36. The cheek rest and carry handle are custom; he replaced the old scope with a magnifier, he couldn’t see too well through a mask lens. $120
Modernized Thompson. This one actually hurts to let go of, it’s my favorite of his odd concoctions and I remember it shooting very well. The grip, stock, and part of the handguard are custom fabricated parts. Comes with a drum mag. $120
Cyma M14. Shortened front end, and steeper grip angle. Still disassembles like normal. x3 mags. $120
ICS L85. Replaced the dovetail with a weaver rail, and replaced the middle body pin with a nut/bolt to eliminate wobble. $220
Franken-M4. Built from several different manufacturers, this one has a Gate Titan in it. $220

I just started playing Fallout 76 three or four weeks ago and I’m in love with it. I’m about to hit level 300 and I’ve really hit a stride. Hitting max caps, scrips and bouillon each day and stashing legendaries for future scrip / sale or rerolls.
I’m playing PA Heavy Weapons and I’ve been lucky enough to find some really good ones thus far, but I honestly have no idea what non-heavy weapons to look out for. Is that Quad / Explosive pistol I just picked up worth something? What‘s a good roll on a melee weapon? A railway rifle? The list goes on.
I’m curious if there’s a Google doc out there that lists desirable rolls for each weapon type. Just something I can quickly reference to know if a weapon might be worth posting for sale on Reddit / Discord.

New stuff first: I’ve got a new grip “Mostly Vertical Grip for Mlok” it’s exactly as the title states, mostly vertical it’s got a nice slight Bend which works great for those who mostly use grips as a handstop or similar(myself included) I kinda use it half regular grip half handstop and to make it nice and grippy even when your sweaty or wet, I created a mild texture on both sides that grips well for barehands and I’m sure even better with gloves. It also has some grooves cut into the front and back for added texture. As of right now it is MLOK only but am working on a pic version as we speak.

Old stuff: I still have the “banana grip” but it is now available for BOTH mlok and pic rails. The mlok is my choice just because it has such great flush fitment with most rails. This grip also is textured just more on the light end. It has a much more curved design which really feels great to pull the rifle into your shoulder. It is also NOT VERTICAL in anyway so you can throw this on a pistol and tell the ATF to kick rocks. The banana grip is also $17 for mlok OR picatinny

And lastly
Good ole 18650 storage tubes for b5 Sopmod stocks. These have come a long way from my first versions. My first versions worked well, but since acquiring some new hardware for my printer I’m able to print these much better which gives more room for variation in 18650 battery films. Some films are thicker than others and this varies brand to brand. When I first came out with these I had trouble fitting my USB built in streamlight 18650. It fit it was just a bit tight, now it slides right in with ease. These are water resistant and hold up well when stored in the stock. You can fit 2 standard 18650 batteries or whatever other goodies you like.

Been house shopping the last while and seeing entire neighborhoods of super expensive houses like in Lansdowne, Summerside, Windermere, Mactaggart, Cameron Heights, Magrath, Keswick, Wedgewood etc. Central area at the core and river valley places like Glenora/Crestwood/Laurier gets inflated due to location even for small detached garage homes - I'm just going to assume many of those are generationally owned ones which have been there for decades and inherited, but even the outskirt newer builds are always selling. How are there so many people who can afford these?
Growing up here its so insane that my friends' parents were like average bakers, hairdressers or worked at shopping mall stores to have a 2 car garage 2000sqft house for $280k back in the day 30 years ago, now selling at $650k+.
I thought I was doing ok and middle class making 6 figures, but I can't afford even basic attached garage homes. Recently bid on a few I liked but the accepted sale price was over $50k the asking price... and I'm just looking at ones in the $500k range. So discouraging. Seems like it's leaving all the 500k or less houses to be in mega demand when fewer can afford the super expensive ones. Have had to go to many showings then they get offers & acceptance to be sold in a day or 2
Is everyone just going into heavy debt to get a home? Are there multiple families in these bigger ones? Super rich people or property management companies just buying it all to rent out?

My shout echoed off the sandstone pyramid. I swung my briefcase downward in a large arc, hopeful to catch the adventurer unawares. The multicolored rune shield stopped me short of a connection. I took a step back as a flash of red-green came rushing past. Once. Twice. I stepped back in for another attack. Three. Four. The poison from the dagger took hold immediately. I could feel it working its way through my veins. Up my arm, closer and closer to my heart. I knew it would kill me. I had to get out of here.
In a twirl of my purple robes, I dropped a smoke rune. The vapors twisted their tendrils, fingers wrapping around my body. I broke the tablet and teleported away the instant the smoke became too thick to see. Just at the last moment, I caught a glimpse of magenta. More specifically, the robes of Uri.
“Damn you, brother! How do you always appear as I’m leaving?”
Limping into the portal, I made my way to the pool. Bending and cupping my hands together, I gulped the liquid down. It tasted horrendous, but the effects were immediate. I could feel the poison being sucked back down, slowly dripping from the cuts on my arm. It made a small pool in the grass, the greens playing tricks on the eyes, as it faded into the dirt.
Although I felt physically better, the damage to my psyche was still there. Every single time my alarm goes off, I run out to protect my hidden caches. Every single time, some young buck adventure is there with some gods forsaken armor to beat me back to my hovel. And every single time, my damned brother, Uri, shows up when I leave! Every. Single. Time. It drove me mad. How do they find my treasures? How do they know the way to unlock the doors? Even the alarms don’t seem to help. I’m sick of it! I’m sick of my good for nothing brother laughing away with them while I slink back here.I need a new job. I’m tired of this protection agency. “Oh, you’re so good at your job, Double Agent,” I mocked, venom on my tongue. “Tomorrow,” I said. “Tomorrow I’ll finally make a name for myself. A new name. One other than ‘Double Agent,’ or ‘Bad Guy.’”
Early the next morning, I awoke and stepped to my wardrobe. “There’s not much for options,” I mused. Spotting the patch of black between all the H.A.M robes, I quickly grabbed it and shook it out. “This’ll do nicely,” to nobody in particular. I threw on the vest and slacks and gave myself a once over in the mirror. Twirling my mustache between two fingers, I mused “Yes. I’m just missing one…” I went to the cape rack and found it. With a twist, I threw the cape on, the sashes falling over my shoulder. White with a small gold shoulder trim, blazend with a saw and log. “Dress for the part you play, they say.”Heading to the portal, I grabbed my bowler hat from the stand and slapped it onto my head. With a flick of the brim, I grinned and stepped through. The world shrank and grew with a purple haze as I was transported from Rimmington to Varrock in a flash. “I’ll never get used to that,” I grunted.
Walking around the city felt good. Nobody seemed to recognize me. Nor did anyone pull a dagger behind my back, though not for lack of checking. Playing the role of the double agent has taken its toll on my mind all these years. It’s time to settle down and build my own empire. No more silly scavenger hunts with my brother. No more taking beating from “adventurers.” No. This was my time.
After searching the city for a few minutes, I found the perfect location. It was a small, single story building just outside the palace courtyard. “Yes, yes. The palace guards will want a better place to sleep. Maybe the church goers across the street are looking for new homes.”
The “for sale” sign hung just on the corner of the shabby building. “Well, it’ll certainly need a little work, but nothing I can’t handle.” I grabbed the sign off my new home and made my way down the road toward the courtyard. The birds whistled as I passed. The leaves twitched with the breeze. I made my way up the stairs and into the castle itself. Looking around for a clerk or knight, I decided to head to the left. The faint sound of quill scratching parchment made its way down the corridor.
Peeking inside the open room, papers and books scattered around what I only assumed was the library. A small, squirrel looking man sat at a desk writing away. I cleared my throat… Twice… Three times.
“Ah! Hello, hello,” he said with a start. “My name is Reldo. I am the palace librarian.” He pushed his thick frame glasses up the bridge of his nose.
“That’s why you’re in the library, then.” I said. “I’m here about the property for sale just east of the courtyard. And perhaps a seller's permit, if you’re the man to see.”
“Yes! You’ve come to the right place, err..I’m sorry, what did you say your name was?”
“Yuri.”
“Ah, Yuri. I’ll just grab the paperwork and begin filling it out, shall I? Now then.. Where did I put that…” Reldo mused, rifling through his paperwork. “S-sorry,” he stuttered.“Take your time, comr- my good man.” Blast. It’ll be hard to break the old habits I’ve had all these years.
“Here we go!” He began filling in the forms. “Now then. The fees for the permit, on top of the property, and also the permit to own land in our great Varrock total to 10,000 gold pieces.”
Highway robbery, this. “Perfect,” I said with a devilish smile. I sat my briefcase on the table and unclicked the latches. The gold shone out like a brilliant light, dancing in the torch flames. I counted out my coins and collected my paperwork.
“The tax collector will be around once a year!” Reldo called after me.
I couldn’t wait. I’d extort the lumber yard for commission. If their planks wanted to go into my homes, they’d have to pay. Need a few decorations, adventure? How about a new property elsewhere? Ha! I’d take them for everything they’ve got. And then some.
Back at my new business, I took the “For Sale” sign down and unlocked the door. Time to get to work.
“Hello. Welcome to the Gielinor Housing Agency! What can I do for you?” I asked with a flick of my hat. The words “I expect you to die!” fading into an echo over the castle walls.

Because that is the number of people who recommended this game to me in a post I made last week announcing the successful completion of my first home build, created specifically for this genre, and asking for recommendations.
I did not say at the time that it would result in your being subjected to a series of book reports by me on most of those titles over the next several months because I did not know it. But I probably should have known it so I still apologize for not disclosing this consequence.
I wishlisted everything I have not already played on console but to start I chose Turbo Overkill, Amid Evil, and Cultic. Of the three Cultic was the least expensive despite being the only one not on sale. In general I am less fond of boomshoots with flat sprite enemies like this so I thought it would be my warmup before I moved on to the other two which I expected to prefer. That apparently was wrong. I am having such a blast with Cultic that I have not yet touched the other two.
I guess it is inspired by Blood which I have not yet played. My primary context right now is the Quake 2 remaster which I fell in love with on xbox (it was the game that finally pushed me to PC to increase my access to this genre). And as someone who connected hard with Quake 2 in 2023 I am finding Cultic to be exactly my flavor of combat. Like Quake 2 it is about fast movement around corners and down sightlines, noticing the timing of enemy shots and weaving around cover dynamically. But Cultic's arenas are far more expansive and gunfights play out over greater distances. Both you and most enemies are glasscannon so weapons feel powerful and all fights are dangerous. The slide is great and makes the game feel springy and kinetic. Right now this is all hitting for me.
Also I noticed it gameifies light really well for one of these games. You will crawl through lots of dark pits filled with waiting ememies. Your primary tool for this at first is a lighter, which is very good at illuminating a small radius but also very dangerous to use since it allows enemies you cannot see well to see you very easily. So the choice to use it or not and when becomes this lovely emergent stealth piece of a boomshoot gunfight. Maybe others have done that but this is the first time I personally have noticed it. (Did Doom 3 try something like this? I wasn't really into that game.)
My only nitpick so far is that I am finding it slightly stingy on ammo. I hunt for pickups and secrets, I rarely run out completely. In some ways the game is resource generous because your health slowly regenerates to 25 if it drops below that and axes are unlimited since even if you throw them you can just pick them up again. You're never just screwed. But when it comes to guns I usually only have ammo for maybe two at a time and I often just can't use the best gun for the gunfight.
The guns are mechanically great for the most part. This is one of my favorite pistols I have found in this genre, and also one of my favorite grenade launchers. Shotgun is fine but it's Doom school with especially bad dropoff for range. There are weapon upgrades so that probably can be improved. I will say I don't think the weapons are all that interesting, they appear to just be your standard shooter archetypes (pistol, rifle, shotgun, machine gun, sniper, launcher). But they feel great, have alt fires, and work well for this combat.
For context I am just cruising through on normal with my controller (was always my plan). I got to a boss or something that gave me a little trouble until I realized I was meant to use one specific tactic and then it became trivial. The game certainly is benefitting from being the maiden voyage of my first gaming pc as it runs atrociously smoothly and I am finding it incredibly immersive which is why I like these games. I have been watching system temps just to see but it does not look like it's taxing the system at all. This toy I have built has the potential to dangerously escalate my gaming addiction and I need to watch that.
The sprite enemies are fine. Not my favorite, it feels like I'm on a themed shooting course with cardboard cutout bad guys who shoot back. But I don't really care since I like the gameplay so much. It is the best version of that visual choice that I personally have seen.
There is key hunting but the environments make sense as places and are easy to remember. Do I still want the compass from the Quake 2 remaster, of course I do. But so far navigation seems good and thoughtful. No map, unless I am an idiot and have missed it somehow.
Anyway! Cultic is really awesome and I plan to finish it. Thank you to all who suggested it.

I've recently gotten back into trading cards, and noted some of my old Pokemon and Yugioh cards are worth a little petty cash - anywhere between $10 and $70. I did a bit of research, here's where I'm caught up to:

• Card into sleeve, sleeve into semi-rigid sleeve, tape over the top with some cover to keep the card from hitting the tape
• $20 and below is fine to put in an envelope, anything higher than that I should use some paperboard mailjacket
• I've taken the old cards to a local card shop to ask their authenticity since I don't recall where I acquired all of them

I only have a bakers dozen to sell right now, so I don't wanna invest into eBay branded mailers yet. If I fall deep into the rabbit hole and make a side gig of it, sure. So I wanted to ask, is it a hassle to use my own mailers / envelopes? My wife also runs an art shop out of our place so we have plenty of mailing supplies. So here's my few questions...

New stuff first: I’ve got a new grip “Mostly Vertical Grip for Mlok” it’s exactly as the title states, mostly vertical it’s got a nice slight Bend which works great for those who mostly use grips as a handstop or similar(myself included) I kinda use it half regular grip half handstop and to make it nice and grippy even when your sweaty or wet, I created a mild texture on both sides that grips well for barehands and I’m sure even better with gloves. It also has some grooves cut into the front and back for added texture. As of right now it is MLOK only but am working on a pic version as we speak.

Old stuff: I still have the “banana grip” but it is now available for BOTH mlok and pic rails. The mlok is my choice just because it has such great flush fitment with most rails. This grip also is textured just more on the light end. It has a much more curved design which really feels great to pull the rifle into your shoulder. It is also NOT VERTICAL in anyway so you can throw this on a pistol and tell the ATF to kick rocks. The banana grip is also $17 for mlok OR picatinny

And lastly
Good ole 18650 storage tubes for b5 Sopmod stocks. These have come a long way from my first versions. My first versions worked well, but since acquiring some new hardware for my printer I’m able to print these much better which gives more room for variation in 18650 battery films. Some films are thicker than others and this varies brand to brand. When I first came out with these I had trouble fitting my USB built in streamlight 18650. It fit it was just a bit tight, now it slides right in with ease. These are water resistant and hold up well when stored in the stock. You can fit 2 standard 18650 batteries or whatever other goodies you like.
The storage tubes are $20 a piece or $30 for 2. The discount does not show up until you add 2 to your cart.
